மகோற்கடரிடம் விரைந்தான் காசி ராஜன்,
“மகானே! காப்பாற்றுங்கள் ஆபத்திலிருந்து!
சூறாவளிக் காற்றில் தரைமட்டமானது காசி;
ஆறாத தீஜ்வாலைக்கு பலியாயினர் மக்கள்!
காப்பாற்ற வேண்டும் காசி நகரைத் தாங்கள்;
ஒப்பற்ற உங்களால் மட்டுமே இது சாத்தியம்.”
“நராந்தகன் ஏவிய அசுரர்கள் கொட்டமே இது
நிரந்தரமாக நீக்குகிறேன் நொடிப் பொழுதில்!”
கமண்டல நீரைக் கையில் எடுத்தார் – கனத்த
புகைமண்டலத்தின் மீது அள்ளித் தெளித்தார்!
காற்றும், நெருப்பும் அடங்கி விழுந்தன!
காற்றும், நெருப்பும் அழித்தவை எழுந்தன!
அழிக்கப்பட்ட காசி நகரம் முன்போலவே
செழிப்புடன் விளங்கியது மீண்டும் விந்தை!
மகிழ்ச்சி பெருகியது மன்னன் மனதில்;
மார்புறத் தழுவினான் மகோற்கடரை.
விரைந்தார் மகோற்கடர் நகர வாயிலுக்கு;
திறந்த அசுரனின் வாயில் ஏறி நின்றார்.
வியாக்கிரமுகன் சுதாரிக்கும் முன்னரே
விஸ்வரூபம் எடுத்துப் பிளந்தார் அவனை!
அழிந்தான் அசுரன் பெரிய அலறலுடன்;
விழுங்கிய மக்கள் எழுந்தனர் உயிருடன்.
விருந்து அளித்தான் காசிராஜன் மறுநாள்;
விருந்து சமைத்தவள் பட்டத்து அரசியே.
விருந்து படைக்கும் பொழுது கண்டாள்
விருந்தில் சமைக்காத பல பண்டங்கள்!
“நாம் இன்று சமைக்காத பண்டங்களும்
நாம் அளிக்கும் விருந்தில் எப்படி?” என
அரசன் வினவினான் மகோற்கடரிடம்
அரசனுக்கு விளக்கினார் மகோற்கடர்.

The King of Kasi ran to Mahorkadar. “Please save my city of Kasi. The storm has reduced the buildings to rubble. The fire has charred everything and everyone in the city. You must save my city and the people of Kasi from total destruction. Only you are capable of performing this miracle!”
Mahorkadar replied, “These are the atrocities performed by the asura sent by Naraantakan. I will put an end to this in a minute” He took some water from his kamandalam and sprinkled it on the dense smoke filling the air. The fire got put out and the storm weakened immediately.
Everything that was destroyed by the wind and the fire was restored to its original shape and glory. Kasi became as beautiful as before. The king of Kasi was overwhelmed with happiness and embraced Mahorkadar.
Now Mahorkadar rushed to the city gate. He climbed into the wide open mouth of the asuran Vyagra mukhan and stood there. Before Vyagra mukhan could react to this, Mahorkadar assumed his viswaroopam and tore open the asuran into two pieces.
The king was extremely pleased by the genius of Mahorkadar. The very next day the king hoisted a special feast for Mahorkadar. All the food items in the feast were personally made by the queen to honor the special guest.
While serving the food, the queen noticed that some dishes which were not prepared by her, among the food items served to Mahorkadar. She wondered how it could be possible. The king asked Mahorkadar to explain this mystery and Mahorkadar expalined it thus.

“வழி கூறுங்கள் இழந்தவற்றை மீண்டும் பெற்றிட!”
” மந்திரங்கள் பயன் தரும் உரிய தெய்வங்களால்,
மந்திரங்களால் பயன் தர இயலாது தாமாகவே!
மந்திரங்களுக்கு உட்பட்டவை யாகங்கள்;
மந்திரங்கள் தேவர்களை முன்னிட்டவை.
காலத்துக்கு வசப் பட்டவர்கள் தேவர்கள்;
காலத்தைத் தடுத்திட இயலாது நம்மால்;
காலத்துக்கேற்ற உபாயங்கள் உள்ளன – எனினும்
காலம் பெரிதா? உபாயம் பெரிதா? நான் அறியேன்.
கால பலனும், உபாய பலனும் ஒன்றானால்
கர்மங்கள் நிறைவேறிக் கேட்பது கிடைக்கும்.
உபாயத்தைக் கைவிடக் கூடாது ஒருநாளும்;
அபாயத்தைத் தவிர்த்திட உள்ளது ஒரு வழி.
காலாதீத தெய்வம் ஒன்று உண்டு என்றறிவாய்;
காலம் வசப்பட்டுள்ளது அந்த தேவி ஒருத்திக்கு
காலாதீத தெய்வம் பற்றி மேலும் சொல்வேன்;
காலாதீத தெய்வத்தின் அருள் பெரும் வழி இது.
மஹிஷனை வதைத்த மஹாசக்தி தேவி
மனதில் நிலைக்கட்டும் காலாதீத தேவியாக
காலம் கனிந்தது உமது துக்க நிவர்த்திக்கு;
காலம் கடத்தாமல் செல்வீர் இமயத்துக்கு.
ஆராதியுங்கள் பக்தியுடன் மனம் ஒன்றி !

5#22a. The plight of Devaas
The asuraas drove away the Devaas from the Heaven. They ruled like tyrants for one thousand years. When they can take no more the Devaas went to meet their kulaguru Bruhaspati and asked him, “Please tell us a method by which we can recover our Swarggam form the asuraas.”
Bruhaspati said,” Yaagaas and Yagnaas depend on their mantraas for bearing fruits. Mantraas can not bestow anything on us without the assistance of the God towards whom the Mantrass are directed.
The Gods themselves are controlled by the Time Factor. So they are powerless against the Time Factor. Certain things can be done to suit the prevailing Time, but whether the Time is stronger or our plans are stronger I am unable to tell you.
There is one infallible method to overcome the problems now. There is a power which is not controlled by the Time factor. It is the Mahaa Shakti who put an end to the wicked Mahishan.
The Time of your deliverance is fast approaching. So proceed to Himaalayaas without any further delay. Do Devi aaraadhana by chanting her Beejaaksharaas with intense devotion!”

He shot the Moha asthram which sent the entire army of Murugan into delusion. Murugan shot the Amoha asthram which nullified the effects of the Moha asthram.The demons in the army came back to their senses.
Murugan wanted to shoot the Paasupada asthra of Siva. It was invincible. Bhaanukoban who knew this truth just disappeared from the battle field unseen by an one there. The Sun set in the west. The army of demons returned to its camp.

“நமது அன்பர்களில் சிறந்தவர் புருசுண்டி,
தமது உடலில் எனதுருவம் கொண்டவர்;
சதுர்த்திக்கு அவர் நிவேதனம் செய்பவை
புதிதாக வந்து சேருகின்றன என் உணவில்!”
“காண வேண்டும் அந்த பக்தரை உடனே;
பேண வேண்டும் அவரை நன்கு உபசரித்து.”
“தண்டக வனத்தில் தங்கியுள்ளார் அவர்;
தெண்டனிட்டுக் கூறுவாய் விவரங்களை.
புத்திரன் விவாஹம் பொருட்டு நான் வந்த
அத்தனையையும் ஆதியோடு அந்தமாக!”
தண்டக வனம் சென்றான் காசிராஜன் – புரு
சுண்டியைக் கண்டு வணங்கினான் மகிழ்ந்து.
“மகோற்கடர் விருந்தில் தோன்றின நீங்கள்
மகா பக்தியுடன் படைத்த உணவு வகைகள்.
அரண்மனைக்கு வந்தருள வேண்டும் – உம்மை
அழைத்து வரச்சொன்னார் மகோற்கடர்” என்றான்.
கஜானனனை அறிந்திருந்தார் புருசுண்டி – ஆனால்
கஜானனனே மகோற்கடர் என்று அறியவில்லை.
“காசியப முனிவர், அதிதி தேவியின் மகனாகக்
காசினியில் அவதரித்துள்ளார் விநாயகர் மீண்டும்.”
காசியபரிடம் சென்றது முதற்கொண்டு மகோற்கடர்
காசியில் செய்த அற்புதங்கள் வரையில் கூறினான்.
கண்ணை மூடித் திறக்கச் சொன்னார் புருசுண்டி.
மன்னன் தலையைத் தடவினார் பிறகு மெல்ல.
கண்ணைத் திறந்த மன்னன் கண்டான் தன்னை;
தண்டகவனத்தில் அல்ல, தன் அரண்மனையில்!
“புருசுண்டி வரவில்லையா?” கேட்டார் மகோற்கடர்.
“புருசுண்டியைக் கஜானனன் அழைத்ததாகச் சொல்!”
குனிந்து வணங்கி எழுந்த மன்னன் இருந்தான்
முனிவர் புருசுண்டியின் முன் தண்டகவனத்தில்!

Kaasi Raajan went to DhaNdakaaraNyam and met BrusuNdi. He told the elephant faced sage,” The neivedhyam you offered to Vinayaka appeared in the food offered to Mahorkadar. He requests you to accompany with me to meet him”.
BrusuNdi knew Gajaananan but he was not aware of the fact that Mahorkadar was the avatar of Gajaananan. The king of Kasi explained to the sage that Vinayaka had been born as the son of Sage Kashyapa and Aditi Devi. His name was Mahorkadar. He related all the events since he met Kashyapa in his ashram.
BrusuNdi listened to everything and told the king to close his eyes. The king closed his eyes and the sage ran his fingers over the king’s head.
When he opened his eyes, the king found himself in his own palace, in the presence of Mahorkadar! He told Mahorkadar what had happened in the DhaNdakaaraNya.
Now Mahorkadar told the king, “Go and tell the sage BrudsuNdi that Gajaananan told him to accompany you”. The king bent forward to pay his respect. When he got up he found himself in the presence of the sage in the DhaNdakaaraNya.

“BrusuNdi is one of my best devotees. He has my physical form with a trunk in his face. Whatever he is offering to me for chathurti is appearing here along with the queen’s preparations.”

நிஜமான ஆனந்தம் கொண்டார் புருசுண்டி.
நண்பர்களுடன் விளையாடும் மகோற்கடரைக்
கண்டு நம்பவில்லை கஜானனன் என புருசுண்டி.
பக்தனின் ஐயத்தை நீக்கக் காட்சி தந்தார் தன்
பத்துக் கரங்களுடனும், வேழ முகத்துடனும்,
ரத்தின கிரீடத்துடனும், பிறைச் சந்திரனுடனும்,
சித்தி, புத்தி தேவியரோடு, சிங்க வாஹனத்தில்.
ஆனந்த வெள்ளத்தில் மிதந்தார் புருசுண்டி,
தானறிந்த ரூபத்தில் வேழமுகனைக் கண்டு.
தங்கினர் இருவரும் காசிராஜன் மாளிகையில்
அங்கு நடந்தது இருவருக்கும் ராஜ உபசாரம்!
வந்தனர் மேலும் பல அசுரர்கள் காசிக்கு.
வந்தான் மேகன் ஜோசியன் வேடத்தில்.
காசிராஜனிடம் கூறினான் ஜோசியன் மேகன்,
“காசிக்கு வரும் இனித் துன்பங்கள் தொடந்து.
முனி குமாரன் ஜாதகத்தில் உள்ளது தோஷம்;
இனியும் அவன் இங்கேயே இருக்க வேண்டாம்.
காட்டுக்கு அவனை விரட்டி விட்டால் உங்கள்
நாட்டுக்கு வரும் துன்பங்கள் நீங்கும்!” என்றான்.
பயந்தவன் போலவே நடித்தான் காசிராஜன்;
‘நயமாகப் பேசி அழிக்க வேண்டும் இவனை!’
“காசியபரின் மகன் என்று அழைத்து வந்தேன்;
காசிக்குத் துன்பம் தருவதை அறியவில்லை.
காட்டில் விட்டு விடுகிறீர்களா தாங்களே?”என
மட்டற்ற மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தான் அசுரன் மேகன்.
பணித்தான் காசிராஜன் தன் காவலனிடம்,
“பேணி அழைத்துச் செல் மகோற்கடரிடம்!”

Now Kaasi Raajn told BrusuNdi, “Gajaananan wants you to accompany me to my palace!” BrusuNdi became very happy. He could not believe that the small boy playing with his friends was in reality his favorite god Gajaananan.
Mahorkadar wanted to prove that he was indeed Gajaananan. He appeared to BrusunNdi in the form he would recognize him – with his ten mighty arms, his beautiful elephant face, his gem studded crown, the crescent moon and his two Devis Siddhi and Buddhi on the Simha vaahanam.
BrusunNdi became happy that God chose to appear in a form he would recognize. He stayed with Mahorkadar in the palace of Kasi Raajan. They were treated like a king and a prince.
More asuras came to Kasi. One of them was Megan who appeared as an astrologer. He met the king of Kasi and told him, “Misfortune will strike your city one after another. The son of sage Kashyapa has a dhosham in his horoscope. He should not remain in your city. Send him off to the jungle immediately”
Kaasi Rajan pretended to be scared and thought to himself, ‘I must act tactfully and get rid of this asuran’. He asked Megn,” Can you please take him away and leave him in the forest?” Megan was only too willing to oblige. The king told his soldiers “Take this astrologer to Mahorkadar!”

உடல் நடுங்குகிறது அசுரர்களை எண்ணினால்.
பிடுங்கிக் கொண்டனர் சுவர்க்க லோகத்தை;
கொடுங்கோல் ஆட்சி புரிந்து வருகின்றனர்.
வாழ்கின்றோம் யாம் தலை மறைவாக இன்று;
வீழ்ந்தோம் சுவர்க்க லோகத்திலிருந்து அன்றே!
வேறு கதியில்லை எமக்கு உன்னைத் தவிர;
மாறுபடவில்லை யாம் உன்னிடமிருந்து எனில்
வேரறுப்பாய் எங்கள் இடர்களை அன்னையே!
வேறு ஜீவன்களும் துன்புறுகின்றன இவர்களால்!
பிரபஞ்சத்தைப் படைத்தவள் நீ என்றால்
பிரபஞ்சத்தைக் காப்பதும் உந்தன் கடன்.”

5#22c. Devi stuti
The Gods and Deva worshiped Devi more and more. “Devi! Who will not worship you and praise you? Even the Trinity worship you. We surrender to you one more time. You must come forward to save us this time also.”
Devi appeared in front of them pleased with their devotion. She was in her young beautiful form, dressed in rich silks and wearing ornaments studded with rich gemstones and fresh fragrant garlands.
Devi spoke to them in a voice which put to shame the cuckoos, “What is that you want from me?” They stood transfixed by Devi’s beauty and the sweetness of her voice.
They spoke again,”You must remove our hardships and sufferings.There are two cruel asura brothers by name Sumban and Nisumban. They are foolish, adamant and terrifying in their appearance.
They can’t be conquered easily due the special boons they have received. Chandan, Mundan, Raktha beejan and other asuras have joined hands with them with their armies. They plunder and loot all the three worlds.
They ousted us from the heaven and are enjoying all the pleasure of heaven which do not belong to them. We have no one else to save us other than you. Many other Jeevaas also suffer in their hands. You have created us. You must also protect us. We surrender to you Devi!”

கதிரவன் உதிக்கும் முன்பே எழுந்து
அதியுற்சாகமாகத் தயாரானான் சூரன்.
“புறமுதுகிட்டு வந்த மகனைப் போருக்கு
மறுபடி அனுப்புவது நடவாத காரியம்!
நானே போருக்குச் சென்று வென்று
நாளை நகர் திரும்புவேன் களிப்புடன்!”
ஆயிரம் கோடி ஒற்றர்கள் சென்றனர்!
அவுண மறவர்களைத் திரட்டி வந்தனர்.
கணக்கற்ற அவுணர்கள் வந்து சேர்ந்து
இணக்கமாகத் தலை நகரில் குழுமினர்.
உயர்ந்த மாளிகையிலிருந்து கண்டதும்
தளர்ந்த மனஉறுதி வளர்ந்தது மீண்டும்.
போருக்குப் புறப்பட்டான் சூரபத்மன்;
மேருவை ஒத்த தேரில் அமர்ந்தான்.
நால் வகைப் படைகளும் உடன் நடக்க
தூள் பறந்தது நடக்கும் காலடிகளால்.
அதிசூரனும், அசுரேந்த்ரனும் படை நடத்த
கதி கலங்க வைக்கும் படை நடந்தது.
தொண்டகம், துடி, பம்பை, முருடு,
தூரியம், கொம்பு, படகம், என்னும்
வாத்தியங்கள் ஒன்றாய் முழங்கிட
சாத்தியம் வெற்றி என்று தோன்றியது.
தேர்களின் ஒலியும், பரிகளின் ஒலியும்,
போர் முரசொலியும், கரிகளின் ஒலியும்,
போர் மறவர்களின் வீரக்கழல் ஒலியும்,
பரந்து விரிந்து எங்கும் எதிரொலிக்க,
பறந்த துகள்கள் மறைத்தன ஆதவனை.
சிறந்த விண்ணுலகம் மண்ணுலகானது!
கொடிகள் வான்கங்கையில் நனைந்து
கொடிய சூரனின் முடிவு நெருங்கியதென
கண்ணீர் விட்டு அழுவதைப் போலவே
விண்ணிலிருந்து மண்ணில் சொரிந்தன.

The next day Soorapadman got up before sunrise and got ready for the war. He had decided that it was useless sending his son Bhaanukoban to the war since he had fled from the battle field the previous day.
His summoned his messengers to gather all the asura warriors. Every single asura warrior reported to the capital city immediately. When Soorapadman saw the huge crowd of asura warriors, his hope of victory was rekindled.
He sat on his chariot as huge as mount Meru. The chaturanga sena walked along with him. The dust thrown up by the marching feet made the world appear dark. Athisooran and Asurendran lead the army.
The various instruments of war were played inspiring hope and courage in the hearts of the warriors. The mixed sound made by the chariots, the elephants, the horses and the sound of the kazhal worn by the men was heard everywhere. The dust hid the sun and the swarga was tarnished by the dust.
The long flags carried by the army got wet by the water of Akaash Ganga. They sprinkled it down to the earth in the form of tear drops which appeared to symbolize the fact that the end of Soorapadman was fast approaching.

மகோற்கடர் அறிந்தும் அறியாதது போல்
மகாப் பணிவுடன் பேசினார் மேகனிடம்.
“யாரோ ஜோசியர் அரசனிடம் பேசினாராம்;
நேர இருக்கும் ஆபத்துக்களகைக் குறித்து!”
“நான் தான் அரசனிடம் பேசிய ஜோசியன்;
மூன்று நாட்களில் நேரும் பெரும் துன்பம்.
காட்டுக்குப் போய்விடலாம் நாம் இருவரும்,
நாட்டுக்குத் திரும்பலாம் அது முடிந்த பிறகு.”
“எத்தனை கருணை உள்ளம் கொண்டுள்ளீர்கள்!
அத்தனை அன்பா இந்த ஏழை அந்தணன் மீது ?”
பரிந்து மகோற்கடர் அணிவித்த மாலையால்
எரிந்து சாம்பலாகிவிட்டான் மேகன் அங்கேயே.
அழிக்க வந்தனர் மேலும் இரண்டு அசுரர்கள்
அழிந்த கிணறாகவும், தவளையாகவும் மாறி.
கிணற்றில் மண் எடுப்பதாகச் சொல்லிவிட்டுப்
பிணமாக்கிவிட்டார் இரண்டு அசுரர்களையும்.
நம்பிய அசுரர்கள் நாசம் அடைந்ததால் தன்
தம்பிகளையே அனுப்பினான் நராந்தகன்.
அந்தகாசுரன் இருள் மயமக்கினான் காசி நகரை.
அம்பாசுரன் இடி, மழை, மின்னலாக மாறினான்.
துங்காசுரன் மலைகளாகி மறைத்துவிடத்
துன்பத்தில் தவித்தனர் காசி நகர மக்கள்.
தோற்றுவித்தார் மகோற்கடர் ஓராலமரத்தை.
தோன்றினார் சிறு பறவையாக மர உச்சியில்.
வானளாவிய மரத்தின் மீது அமர்ந்துகொண்டு
தானசைத்தார் தன் சிறகுகளை வெகு வேகமாக.
படபடவென்று அடித்த சிறகுகளின் வேகத்தால்
படர்ந்த மேகங்கள் சேர்ந்து திரண்டன ஒன்றாக.
மலையில் சென்று மோதியது திரண்ட மேகம்.
மலையும், மேகமும் இரண்டும் வலுவிழந்தன.
நெற்றிக் கண்ணைத் திறந்தார் மகோற்கடர்;
நெற்றிக் கண்ணொளி போக்கியது இருளை!

Mahorkadr pretended not to know the real identity of the asuran Megan. He told the astrologer, “It seems an astrologer spoke to the king about the impending danger to the city of Kasi.”
Megan told the boy,”I am the astrologer who spoke to the king. Great calamity will befall the city of Kasi during the next three days. We both can go to forest and return to the city after three days”
Mahorkadar told him,”Sir! you are so kind to a poor Brahmin boy like me. I want to honor you” and he put a garland around Megan’s neck. Megan got charred to death immediately.
Two more asuras came as a dried up well and a frog. Mahorkadar killed them both under the pretext of digging the sand from the well.
Naraantakan was unhappy with the asuras who got killed by the boy instead of killing him. He decided to send his three smart brothers to deal with Mahorkadar now.
Antakaasuran made the city pitch dark. Ambaasuran poured as a heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Thungaasuran became a mountain and hid everything from view.
Mahorkadar created a huge tree and sat on the top most branch as a small bird. The bird flapped its wings so fast that the rainclouds were rolled into a single huge cluster and made to dash on the mountain with a great force.
Both the cloud and the mountain lost their strength and fell down exhausted. Now Mahorkadar opened his third eye and dispelled the darkness completely.

தோத்திரம் செய்தனர் தேவியைத் தேவர்கள் – தேவி
தோற்றுவித்தாள் தன் தேஹத்திலிருந்து காளியை.
சரீரத்திலிருந்து தோன்றியதால் கௌசிகை;
கரிய நிறத்துடன் தோன்றியதால் பத்ரகாளி.
மஹா பயத்தை விளைவித்ததால் காளராத்திரி;
மஹா தேவி உண்டாக்கினாள் பத்ரகாளியை.
“தஞ்சம் புகுந்துள்ள தேவ கணங்களே!
அஞ்ச வேண்டாம் கொஞ்சமும் நீங்கள்!
துஷ்ட அசுரர்களை அழித்து விடுகின்றேன்
இஷ்ட அமரர்களைக் காத்து விடுகிறேன்.”
அமர்ந்தாள் காளியுடன் சிங்க வாஹனத்தில்;
அடைந்தாள் சும்ப நிசும்பரின் தலை நகரை.
இசைத்தாள் கீதம் தன் இனிய குரலில்;
வசமிழந்து நின்றன சகல ஜீவராசிகளும்.
மயங்கி நின்றன பறைவைகள், விலங்குகள்!
மயங்கி நின்றன அண்ட சராசரங்கள்!
சென்றனர் சண்ட, முண்டர் அந்த வழியே;
கண்டனர் இசைக்கும் அழகிய தேவியை.
கொண்டனர் வியப்பு எழிலால், குரலால்!
விண்டனர் சும்பனிடம் தாம் கண்டவற்றை.
“உள்ளாள் நம் நந்த வனத்தில் ஓரழகி,
துள்ளும் இளமையுடன், குயில் குரலுடன்.
காண்பதற்கரிய வடிவுடைய ரூபவதி தேவி!
மாண்புடன் அமர்ந்துள்ளாள் சிங்கத்தின் மீது!”
