DEVI BHAAGAVATAM - SKANDA 5

5#23a. Badra Kaali (1)

The Devaas worshipped the Devi. She created Badra kaali from her own body. Kousikai was the name since she appeared from her sareeram.

She was of a dark-hue and was named Badra kaali. She infused the onlookers with fear and was named as Kaalaraathir. Kaalikaa Devi had appeared there.

“Do not fear or fret an more. I shall destroy the asuraas and help the Devaas.” Devi sat on her lion along with Kali and went to the capital city of Sumban and Nisumban.

Devi sang sweet songs from a garden. The music mesmerised the birds, animals and all the worlds. Chandan and Mundan passed by that way. They heard the sweet song and saw the beautiful Devi.

They were surprised by her beauty and sweetness of voice. They told Sumban about Devi. “There is a young and attractive woman in our garden. She is a beauty nonpareil and she is seated on a lion.”

4b. முருகன் புறப்படுதல்.

போருக்கு சூரபத்மன் படை நடத்துவதை
நேருக்கு நேர் கண்டான் அமரர்கோன்.

முருகக்கடவுளின் திருவடிகள் பற்றி
“தருவீர் மீண்டும் சுவர்க்க வாழ்வு!” என,

முருகன் முறுவலுடன் ஆமோதித்தான்.
விரைந்து தேரைக் கொணர்ந்தான் வாயு.

நடக்கத் தொடங்கியது படை; தக்கை,
உடுக்கு, கல்லரி, தடாரியை இசைத்தபடி.

அவுணப் படை சூழ்ந்தது பூதப்படையை!
அவுணப்படை தாக்கியது பூதப்படையை!

மரம், மலை, தடி, கழுமுள், உருளை, வேல்
எறிந்தனர் பூதர்கள் அவுணர்கள் மேல்!

தடி, உருளை, சூலம், கணை, கணிச்சிகளை
தொடுத்தனர் அவுணர்கள் பூதர்கள் மேல்.

அதிசூரனைப் பொருது வென்றான் உக்கிரன்;
அசுரேந்திரனைப் பொருது வென்றான் வீரவாகு.

தம்பியர் எண்மர் தோற்றனர் சூரனிடம்;
தம்பி வீரவாகு தோற்றான் சூரனிடம்,

தெய்வப் படைக் கலங்கள் அனைத்தும்
செய்வதறியாமல் செயல் இழந்தன!

வீரவாகு ஆற்றலின்றித் தேரில் விழ
ஓரமாகத் தேரை ஒதுக்கினான் சாரதி.

KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

4 # 4 b. Murugan goes to war.

Indra saw with his own eyes the army marched by Soorapadman himself. He caught hold of the lotus feet of Murugan and prayed to him, “Please restore us in swarga.” Murugan nodded with a smile.

Vayu brought Murugan’s chariot. The army started marching to the tune and beat of the various musical instruments of war.

The asura army surrounded the army of Murugan. The two armies fought using uprooted trees, uprooted mountains, sticks, wheels, discusses, spears, tridents, bow and arrows and other such instruments.

Ugran defeated Athisooran and Veerabaahu defeated Asurendran. His eight younger brothers were defeated by Soorapadman. Veerabaahu also was defeated by Soorapadman.

All their divine asthrams were powerless against Soorapadman. Veerabaahu became weak and fainted in his chariot. His saarathi took the chariot away from the war front.

12k. பிரமரை

ஓர் அசுரன் ஆனான் உயர்ந்த ஆலமரமாக;
ஓர் அசுரன் ஆனான் அதிலுள்ள கண்ணியாக.

ஓர் அசுரன் ஆனான் அங்குள்ள வேடனாக;
ஒரே எண்ணம் பறவையைப் பிடிப்பது தான்.

பாய்ந்தது பறவை வேடனைத் தூக்கிச் செல்ல;
மாய்த்தது மூவரையும் அந்த மரத்தில் மோதி.

அசுரர்களின் உடல்கள் சென்று விழுந்தன
அசுரர்களின் தாய் பிரமரையின் முன்னால்.

அழைத்தாள் தன் பதி பதங்காசுரனை பிரமரை,
அறியவில்லை இறைவன் அவனை மாய்த்ததை.

‘பதியையும், புத்திரர்களையும் கொன்றான்!
பழி தீர்ப்பேன் மகோற்கட முனிகுமாரனை!’

விஷம் கலந்த தின்பண்டங்கள் செய்தாள்.
வேஷம் அணிந்தாள் தாய் அதிதி போலவே.

வரவேற்றனர் முனிவரின் மனைவி என்று;
“வராதது ஏன்?” என முனிவரை விசாரித்தனர்.

“அழைத்துச் செல்ல வந்தேன் என் குமாரனை.”
அணைத்துக் கொஞ்சினாள் மகோற்கடரை.

ஊட்டினாள் அன்புடன் தின்பண்டங்களை.
உண்டார் அன்புடன் அத் தின்பண்டங்களை.

விஷம் ஏறியது அரக்கியின் உடலில்.
வேஷம் கலைந்து விழுந்து இறந்தாள்.

விருந்து தரவேண்டும் மகோற்கடருக்கு
விரும்பினர் ஒரு போலவே அனைவரும்.

'அத்தனை வீடுகளிலும் விருந்து எனில்
எத்தனை நாட்கள் விருந்து நீடிக்குமோ?'

#42k. Bramarai

One of the three asuras became a tall tree. The second one became a trap and the third one a hunter. Their only aim was to capture that little bird sitting on the top branch of the huge tree.

The bird flew down on the hunter, lifted him up to the trap and hit the tree hard killing all the three asuras at the same time. Their dead bodies got thrown in front of their mother Bramarai.

Bramarai got shocked to see the dad bodies of her three sons. She called out to her husband Pathangaasuran – not knowing that Mahorkadar had already killed him too.

Now she became wild with anger and swore to herself, “I will kill that little boy – who has killed my husband and my three sons – at any cost.’ She prepared eatables with deadly poisons and changed herself to resemble Aditi Devi, the wife of sage Kashyap and the mother of Mahorkadar.

She went to Kasi. The king and Queen welcomed her mistaking her to be Aditi Devi herself. They wondered why sage Kashyap did not accompany her.
Bramarai embraced Mahorkadar and gave him the eatables specially made by her, for him. He ate them relishing the taste. The poison killed Bramarai instead of Mahorkadar.

Now all the citizens of Kasi wanted to host a feast to honor Mahorkadar in their house. There were so many houses that the king wondered how long the feast was going to last?

5#23b. பத்ரகாளி (2)

“கண்டதில்லை இதுபோன்ற பெண்ணை.
கேட்டதில்லை இது போன்ற ஒரு குரலை.

பறவைகளும் மயங்கின அவள் குரலில்!
பிராணிகளும் மயங்கின அவள் குரலில்!

யார் அவள்? எதற்கு வந்துள்ளாள்? என்றறிந்து
பேரரசர் அவளைச் சொந்தம் ஆக்கிக் கொள்வீர்.

கைப்பற்றினீர் ரத்தினங்களைத் தேவரிடமிருந்து!
கைப் பற்றுவீர் ஸ்திரீ ரத்தினம் இவளையும்.

கைப்பற்றினீர் நான்கு தந்த யானை ஐராவதத்தை;
கைப்பற்றினீர் ஏழு முகங்கள் உடைய குதிரையை;

கைப்பற்றினீர் பாரிஜாதக் கற்பகத் தருக்களை;
கைப்பற்றினீர் அன்னக் கொடியுள்ள பிரமன் தேரை;

கைப்பற்றினீர் குபேரனின் சங்க, பதும நிதிகளை;
கைப்பற்றினீர் வருணன் வெண்கொற்றக் குடையை;

தந்தான் வருணன் தன் பாசத்தை உமக்கு;
தந்தான் சுமுத்திர ராஜன் வாடாத மாலையை;

தந்தான் சமுத்திர ராஜன் ரத்தினங்களை;
தந்தான் யமன் தன் பாசக் கயிற்றை!

தந்தான் யமன் தன் தண்டாயுதத்தை;
தந்தது பாற்கடல் காமதேனு, அப்சரஸ்;

விட்டுவிடாதீர் இந்தக் கட்டழகியை நீங்கள்;
கட்டி அனைத்துச் சுகம் பெறத் தகுந்தவள்!”

தூண்டினர் காமத்தை சண்ட முண்டர்கள்;
தூண்டில் மீனானான் காமத்தில் சும்பன்.

அழைத்தான் அசுரன் சுக்ரீவனை அருகினில்;
விழைந்தான் அவனைத் தேவியிடம் தூதுவிட.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

5#23b. Badra Kaali (2)

Chandan and Mundan told Sumban, “We have not a seen a woman like her before. We have not heard a voice sweet as her voie, The bird and animals were intoxicated by her sweet music.

Find out who she is and what she wants and make her your own. You have grabbd all the best things this world. Now it is time for you to posses this lovely lady also.

You have acquired the four tusked elephant Airaavat, The horse with seven faces, the Paarijaata and Karpaga vrushams, Brahma’s chariot, Kubera’s nidhi, Varuna’s white umbrella and the paasam of Varuna.

The Sumudraraajan gave you precious gems and an ever fresh flower garland, Yama gave you his dandam and paasam. The Ocean of Milk gave you Kaamadhenu and the Apsaras. Do not spare thos beautiful women. She deserves to be enjoyed by someone as great as you are. ”

Chandan and Mundan deeply impressed Sumban with their description of Devi. Sumban became properly hooked by it and he sent an asuran named Sugreeva to Devi as his messenger.

4c. முருகன் வருதல்.


ஈராயிரம் வெள்ளம் பூதப் படைகளும்,
நூறாயிரத்து எண்மரும் ஆற்றலழிவதை

நேரில் கண்டார் ஆறுமுகத்து அண்ணல்
தேரில் நெருங்கினார் சூரபத்மனை.

“தனியொருவனாகப் போரிட வந்தாயோ?
இனியொருசிறுவனா என்னை வெல்வான்?”

பிரானும் திருமாலும் போரிட எண்ணார்;
பிறரைப் போல் எண்ணாதே என்னையும்!”

“அறியாமையில் அழுந்திய அவுணனே!
பொறி ஒன்று போதும் உலகை அழிக்க!

எதிர்ப்பவருடன் போர் புரிவதே நெறி.
எதிர்பேச்சு வேண்டாம் நீ போர் புரி!”

பிரமன் படையை எறிந்தான் சூரன்
பிரமன் படையை விழுங்கியது வேல்!

மாலின் படையை எறிந்தான் சூரன்;
மாலின் படையை விழுங்கியது வேல்!

சிவப்படையை செலுத்தினான் சூரன்!
சிவப் படை சென்றது தீப்பிழம்பாக!

தளர்ந்து போயின அஷ்டதிக்கஜங்கள்!
தளர்ந்து போனான் ஆதிசேட நாகம்!

நெக்கியது நிலம்! ஓடியது ஊழித்தீ!
சிந்திச் சிதறின இடிகளை முகில்கள்!

ஆதவன் துடித்தான்; திங்கள் சுழன்றான்;
ஆறுமுகன் கைசேர்ந்தது அச் சிவப்படை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
4 # 4 c. Murugan arrives.

Murugan saw his army and its generals powerless and helpless. He approached Soorapadman on his chariot.

“So you have come to fight me all alone! A little boy dreaming of defeating me? Even Siva and Vishnu will not dare to fight with me! Do not think that I am just an ordinary person!”

Murugan replied, “You are immersed in deep ignorance. To burn this whole wide world a little spark of fire is enough. Moreover You have to fight whoever challenges you. That is the rule of here. Come and fight with me!”

Soorapadman threw the Brahma asthram. Murugan’s spear rendered it powerless. Soorapadman threw the Vishnu ashram. Murugan’s spear rendered it powerless!

Soorapadman threw the Siva asthram. It sped fast emitting fire and sparks.
The ashtadig gajam suffered from the intense heat. The aadiseshan suffered from the intense heat.

The earth seemed to melt and the fire resembles pralayaagni. The clouds showered thunder bolts and lighting.

The courses of the sun and moon were disturbed. The siva ashtram reached Murugan’s hand without harming him!

12l. சுக்கிலர்

தயங்கினான் காசி மன்னன் இதை எண்ணி.
தயங்கவில்லை மகோற்கடர் இதை எண்ணி.

“நாளைக்கு உங்கள் வீட்டில் எனக்கு விருந்து!”
நாடு முழுவதுமே தயாரித்தது விருந்துணவு !

சனகர் முதலிய நால்வர் காண வந்தனர்;
ஜனங்கள் வந்து அழைத்தனர் விருந்துக்கு

உண்டார் விருந்து அன்று அரசனுடனும்;
உண்டார் விருந்து ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டிலும்!

ஒரே நேரத்தில் நிகழ்ந்தது இந்த அதிசயம்;
ஒரே விருந்து தன்னுடன் என நினைத்தனர்.

சுக்கிலர் காசியில் ஓர் ஏழை அந்தணர்.
சுக்கிலர் மனைவி குணவதி வித்ருமை.

யாசகம் செய்து ஜீவனம் செய்தனர் – ஆனால்
யாசகம் என்று அன்று.ஏதும் கிடைக்கவில்லை

தவிட்டினால் செய்தனர் ஒரு பலகாரம்.
தவிட்டை விருந்தாக்க விருப்பம் இல்லை.

அழைக்கவில்லை சுக்கிலர் மகோற்கடரை.
அழையா விருந்தாளி ஆனார் மகோற்கடர்.

வீட்டுக்கு வந்த விருந்தினரை வரவேற்று,
வித்ருமை உபசரித்தாள் மிக்க அன்புடன்.

தவிட்டுப் பலகாரத்தைப் படைக்கையில்
தவித்தனர் தம்பதியர் கழிவிரக்கத்தால்!

“ஒரு பிடி அரிசி கூடக் கிடைக்கவில்லை.
பெரும் சோதனை நாள் ஆனது இன்று!”

“ருசி உள்ளது எந்த ஒரு பொருளிலும்;
பசி ருசி அறியாது என்பதை அறியீரா?”

மகோற்கடர் மறைந்தருளக் கட்சி தந்தார்,
மகோன்னதமாக தேவியருடன் விநாயகர்.

பத்துக் கரங்கள், இரத்தின கிரீடத்துடன்;
பக்தருக்கு அருளிட, சிங்க வாஹனத்தில்.

குன்றாத பக்தியை வேண்டினர் தம்பதியர்.
குறைவற்ற செல்வமும் தந்தார் இறைவன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
42l. Suklar

 The king of Kasi hesitated wondering for how many days the feast would last! Mahorkadar however no hesitations at all. He told the citizens of Kasi, “I will dine with you in your house tomorrow.” Every one prepared a feast on that day.

Sanakar and his three brothers called on Mahorkadar on that day. The king and Mahorkadar ate with the four brothers in the palace. At the same time Mahorkadar was dining in every house in Kasi. Each householder thought that Mahorkadar had dined only in his house.

Suklar was a poor Brahmin living in Kasi. His wife was the good natured and pious Vidrumai. They were sincere devotees of Vinayaka and lived exclusively on Biksha.

On that day they could not get even a handful of rice. So Vidrumai made something to eat with the husk of paddy. Suklar did not want to offer it to Mahorkadar as a feast. So he did not invite Mahorkadar to his home. All the same Mahorkadar came to their house as an uninvited guest.

Vidrumai welcomed him and made him as comfortable as was possible in their poor house. When they served Mahorkadar the food prepared with the husk of paddy, they felt steeped in self pity that they could not offer some decent food to the guest.

Vidrumai apologized and said, “Today is a hard day for us. We could not get even a handful of rice” Mahorkadar relied, “There is a taste in everything we make. Hunger is the best sauce. Please give me whatever you have prepared for me.”

Suddenly Mahorkadar disappeared from there and in his place Vinayaka appeared with his ten mighty arms, elephant face, gem studded crown and two beautiful Devis on his simha vaahanam.

The couple fell at his feet and begged for undiminished devotion. God gave them that and all the eight aiswaryams besides.

5#23c. ஜகன்மோகினி (1)

“எந்த விதமாகிலும் வரச் செய்வாய் அவளை;
எந்தனை விரும்பி என்னுடன் வாழ்வதற்கு!

பயன் தரும் சாம, தானங்கள் பெண்களிடம்;
பயன் தரா பேத, தண்டங்கள் பெண்களிடம்.

சென்றான் அரக்கன் சுக்ரீவன் தேவியிடம்
சொன்னான் சும்பனின் தூது மொழிகளை

” வென்றுள்ளேன் நான் சகல உலகங்களையும்;
வென்றுள்ளேன் நான் சகல சம்பத்துக்களையும்.

சகல லோகங்களுக்கும் அதிபதி நானே!
சகல தேவர்களுக்கும் அதிபதி நானே !

செவி வழியே நுழைந்த உன் அங்க எழில்
செயலற்றுப் போக வைத்துவிட்டது என்னை.

தாசனாகிவிட்டேன் உன் அழகுக்கு நானும்!
தாக்குகின்றான் மன்மதன் தன் கணைகளால்.

காப்பாற்றுவாய் என் காம நோயைத் தீர்த்து!
கைப்பற்றுவாய் என்னுடைய அனைத்தையும்.

ஆளலாம் மூன்று உலகங்களையும் நீயே;
ஆளலாம் காலடியில் கிடக்கும் என்னையும்.

மரணமே இல்லாதவன் நான் என்றால் – ஆவேன்
சிரஞ்சீவி நான்; ஆவாய் தீர்க்க சுமங்கலியாக நீ!

கூடிக் களிக்கலாம் எங்கு வேண்டுமானாலும்
கேட்டுப் பெறலாம் எதை விரும்பினாலும்.”

சும்பாசுரன் சொன்ன மொழிகள் இவை
சும்பாசுரனுக்கு உன் மறுமொழி என்ன?”

5#23c. Jagan Mohini (1)

Sumban continued to his messenger Sugreevan, “Make her come to me by hook or by crook. She should come willing to live with me. We have four methods of achieving our wishes.

Of these Saamam and Daanam will work well with womenfolk. Bedham and Dandam will not serve out purpose with womenfolk. ” Sugreevan went to Devi Jagan Mohini and conveyed Sumbaasuran’s message.

“I Sumbasuran have conquered all the three worlds. I have all the riches and rare things in my possession now. I heard about your beauty through my men and I have become a slave to your beauty even before I have set my eyes on you.

Manmathan is hurting me with is flower arrows. Accept me as your husband and make me happy once again. You can rule over the three worlds. You can enjoy all the rare treasures of the world. You can command me and ask for anything you may fancy.

I am immortal. So I will be Chiranjeevi and you will become a deerga sumangali when you marry me. What more can you wish for?”

There are the words Sumbaasuran told me to convey to you. Now please tell me what is your reply to this message!”

4d. முருகனும், சூரனும்.

ஜயந்தனையும், பிற தேவர்களையும்
பயமின்றிச் சிறைப்படுத்தினாய் நீ!

தூதுவனை அனுப்பி விடுதலை கேட்டும்
ஏதும் ஏற்கப் படவில்லை உன்னால்.

போருக்கு நானே நேரில் வந்தேன்.
தாரகனைக் கொன்றேன் முன்னமே!

உன்னை இன்றைக்கே அழிக்கிலேன்!
உன் படைகள், படைகலங்கள் இன்றித்

தனியே நிற்கும் உன்னைக்கொல்லேன்.
இனியும் இன்னுயிர் பிழைக்கலாம் நீ.

தேவர்களைச் சிறை விட்டுவிடு உடனே!
ஏவும் முன்னரே நீங்கிவிடும் என் படை!

எண்ணம் என்ன எனத் திண்ணமாய் கூறு.
எண்ணம் போல் அமையும் உந்தன் வாழ்வு!”

முருகனின் மொழிகளைக் கேட்ட பின்பும்
பெறவில்லை சூரபத்மன நல்லறிவை.

“சிறுவன் அறியான் என் பெருமையை.
அருமைத் தந்தை தந்த மேன்மையை.

என் படைக்கலங்களை அழித்தபோதும்
என்னை அழிக்க முடியுமா இவனால்?

என்னை கொல்லுதல் அரிது என்றுமே.
நான் அவனை வெல்லுதல் அரிது இன்று.

தகுந்த படைக்கலங்களுடன் வந்து நாளை
தகுந்த பாடம் புகட்டுவேன் சிறுவனுக்கு!”

மாய மந்திரத்தை மனத்தில் ஓதினான்.
மாயமாக அங்கிருந்து மறைந்து போனான்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

4 # 4 d. Murugan and Soorapadman.

Murugan spoke to Soorapadman,” You imprisoned Jayanthan and the other Deva. I sent a messenger seeking their release from your prison.

You did not agree to it. I had to come down to wage a war with you. I have killed Taarakan. I could have killed you today, but I will not do so.

You have lost all your weapons and your army. You can still live if you release the Deva from your prison. My army will go back at once.

Tell me frankly your opinion and your life now depends on it.”
Soorapadman did not like Murugan’ s words nor learned the soundness of his advice.

He thought to himself, “This little boy does not know about me greatness. He does not know about all the rare boons his father has given me. He may destroy my weapons. Can he ever destroy me?

So he will not kill me today. He can never kill me. I can win him easily when I return with my army and armaments tomorrow.”

He recited the mantra for becoming invisible and disappeared from there.

12m. நராந்தகன்

முயற்சிகள் அனைத்துமே வீணாகின;
தளர்ச்சி அடைந்து விட்டான் நராந்தகன்.

‘தன் கையே தனக்கு உதவி’ அல்லவா?
தானே போருக்குச் செல்ல எண்ணினான்.

படைதிரண்டது பெரிய சமுத்திரம் போல.
படை நடந்தது பூமி முழுவதும் அதிர்ந்திட.

சதுரங்க சேனையின் வரவை அறிந்ததும்
சரணாகதி ஆனான் ராஜன் இறைவனிடம்.

மந்திராலோசனை செய்தனர் மந்திரிகள்;
“மாய்ப்பது கடினம் வரம் பெற்றவனை.

சரண் அடைவது சாலச் சிறந்தது!” என்றனர்
முரண்பட்டார் மகோற்கடர் கருத்திலிருந்து.

“யுத்தத்துக்குச் சித்தம் ஆகுங்கள் இப்போதே!
அர்த்தமற்ற கவலையை விட்டுத் தள்ளுங்கள்”

படைகள் கலந்தன நகருக்கு வெளியே;
படைகள் தாக்கலாயின ஒன்றை ஒன்று.

உக்கிரமான யுத்தம் தொடங்கி நடந்தது
விக்கிரமத்தை வெளிக்காட்டினான் ராஜன்.

சுற்றிச் சுற்றி மாய்த்தான் அசுர வீர்களை.
சற்றும் அஞ்சாது தாக்கினான் நராந்தகனை.

அம்பு மழை பொழிந்தான் காசி ராஜன்;
அம்பு மழையை விலக்கினான் நராந்தகன்.

அஸ்திரங்களை எய்தான் சரமாரியாக;
ஆக்கினான் ராஜனை நிராயுதபாணியாக!

கைதாயினர் காசி ராஜனும், அமைச்சர்களும்;
கைதிகளை நிறுத்தினர் நராந்தகனின் முன்பு.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

42m. Naraantakan

All his efforts were futile. Naraantakan became disheartened. “Self help is the best policy!” He decided to deal with Mahorkadar personally now. A huge army got ready and walked such that the whole earth trembled under their march.

When Kasi Raajan saw the approaching army, he took refuge in Mahorkadar. The ministers discussed the situation and said, “Naraantakan has several boons to protect him. We cannot defeat him. It is better to to surrender to him”

Bur Mahorkadar opposed the idea and said, “Do not worry unnecessarily and get ready for the war.”

The two armies merged outside the city limits. A terrible war was fought. The king of Kasi showed his might and war tactics. He gave a terrible time to the asura soldiers.

He opposed Naraantakan bravely but after some time he was rendered weaponless. The king of Kasi and his ministers were arrested and produced before Naraantakan.

5#23d. தேவியின் மறுமொழி

“அறிவேன் நான் சும்ப, நிசும்பரை நன்றாக;
அறிவேன் அவர்களின் வீரத்தை, சம்பத்தை.

வென்று விட்டனர் மூன்று உலகங்களையும்!
வென்று விட்டனர் அனைத்து சம்பத்தையும்!

மன்மத வடிவினன், மஹா வள்ளல் சும்பன்;
மனிதர், தேவர் அசுரர்களால் கொல்ல இயலாது

ரத்தினம் சேரவேண்டும் பொன்னோடு – பெண்
ரத்தினம் நான் சேரவேண்டும் சும்பாசுரனோடு!

கூறுவதைக் கேள் கவனமாக இப்போது – இதைக்
கூறுவாய் தனிமையில் சும்பாசுரனிடம் சென்று.

“சும்பாசுரனே! நீ ஒரு மகா பலவான் அசுரன்,
சுந்தர ரூபன், குணசீலன், தர்மவான் அறிவேன்!

அளவற்ற பலமான சேனையை உடையவன்;
அளவற்ற அருமை பெருமைகள் உடையவன்.

வசீகரனே! விரும்பி வந்துள்ளேன் உன்னிடம்;
இசைவேன் உன்னை மணந்து கொள்வதற்கும்.

உண்டு ஒரு பிரதிக்ஞை என் திருமணத்துக்கு!
பண்டு என் தோழியரிடம் செய்த சபதம் அது!

வல்லவள் நான் யுத்தம் புரிவதில் – என்னை
வெல்ல வேண்டும் மணக்க விழைகின்றவர் !

பலசாலி மன்னன் சும்பாசுரனே! என்னை நீ
பலத்தால் வென்றால் திருமணம் புரியலாம்!”

கூறினாள் ஜகன்மோகினி இதை சுக்ரீவனிடம்,
கூறினான் சுக்ரீவன் இதைச் சும்பாசுரனிடம்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

5#24d. Jagan Mohini’s reply

Devi replied to Sugreevan in a friendly tone,” I know all about Sumban and Nisumban. I know that they have conquered all the three worlds and possess all the riches of these worlds.

I know that Sumbaasuran is as handsome as Manmathan. He is very generous. Neither Deva nor Manushya nor Asura can kill him.

A precious gem must be set in gold to bring out its beauty. I must unite with him to bring out the best in me.

Listen to me carefully and convey my message to Sumban when he is alone.
“Subaasura! You are a velorous asuran. You are handsome, you are good natured and you are just in your decisions. You have an army superior to every other army. Your greatness can not be expressed in words.

I have come to you since I too desire you. I will be only too happy to marry you. But I have expressed a condition for my marriage – to my friends long ago. I am good in warfare. So anyone who wishes to marry me should be able to defeat me in a war.

If you can defeat me in a war, I shall gladly wed you – since my condition will be fulfilled!” Devi told Sugreevan this message. Sugreevan conveyed this to Sumbasuran.

4e. உறுதி மொழி

சூரபத்மன் ஆற்றல் அழிந்து மறைந்ததும்
கூறினர் திருமால், நான்முகன், தேவர்கள்,

“பிறந்தது முதல் வெற்றியே அடைந்தவன்
மறைந்து போனான் தோற்றுப் போனதும்.

சூரனுடன் செய்த இப்போர் உனக்குச் சிறிய
வீர விளையாட்டே என்பதை யாமறிவோம்.

அவனை வென்று அருள்வாய் முருகா.
அவனைத் தப்பிக்க அனுமதியாதே!”

“மறுபடி போருக்கு வரும் சூரபத்மன்
உறுதியாகப் பிழைத்துச் செல்லான்!”.

முறுவலுடன் முருகன் உறுதி மொழியை
மறுபடியும் தேவர்களுக்குத் தந்தான்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

4 # 4 e. Murugan and the Deva.

When Soorapadman disappeared after becoming invisible, the Deva spoke to Murugan thus:

“We know that the war with Soorapadman was a child’s play for you Muruga! He had always tasted victory from the day he was born.

Now that he got defeated for the first time in his life, he has disappeared. But you have to get rid of him. Please do not let him escape. His atrocities must come to an end!”

Murugan replied with a smile,”Do not worry. The next time Soorapadman comes to the war, he will surely be destroyed!”
