[Need Clarification] Whether navagraha homam and Chandi parayanam done within one year of elder brother passing a

Namaskaram, My ekdest brother passed away in June last year. Aapdheegam is due in May. My younger brother is planning to get the poonal done for his sons and date was decided almost a year ago, considering multiple factors for 20th of this month. But unfortunately the saka lord Mars (for sama veda) is combust till 26th March. Navagraha homam was suggested as a shanti homam but can it be done before aapdheegam? or should we postpone the poonal for another date. Thank you
