KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

4 # 9a. The three thousand sons of Soorapadman.

The news that Agni mukhan got killed in the battle shattered Soorapadman. His three thousand sons rushed to meet him on hearing this sad news.

“One hundred warriors and nine accomplished generals had come for the battle and you had sent Agni mukhan alone to fight them.

Even the valiant warrior will be defeated by the combined strength of the less valiant warriors.

Do not worry now. We are still here and many more people are here too. Allow us to go to the battle. Surely we will make your dream come true”

Soorapadman got consoled to some extent. He allowed the three thousand sons to go to the battle.

They got ready for the war front. They wore armors, garlands and marched to the battle field with a huge army.

15c. பரிஹாரம்

தேவி நடுங்கினாள் தன் தவற்றை உணர்ந்து;
தேவி பணிந்தாள் இறைவனின் பாதங்களை.

“ஆணவம் கொண்டு பேசிவிட்டேன் ஸ்வாமி!
அடியாள் பிழை பொறுத்தருள்வீர் தயவுடன்!”

தோற்றுவித்தார் பதினோரு கோடி ருத்திரரை;
போற்றித் துதித்தனர் அவர்கள் அவரை இரவில்.

திருவிடைமருதூரில் நான்கு கால பூஜையில்,
தரிசனம் தந்தார் பரமேஸ்வரன் மனமகிழ்ந்து.

“தடையின்றித் தொடர வேண்டும் பணிகள்;
தயைகூர்ந்து அருள வேண்டும் தாங்கள்!” என,

ஏற்றுக் கொண்டார் கோரிக்கைகளைச் சிவன்
ஏற்றமும் அளித்தார் சிவராத்திரிக்குச் சிவன்.

நித்திரையில் இருந்து விழித்து எழுந்த தேவர்
சக்தி பெற்றுச் செய்தனர் தத்தம் பணிகளை.

“நியமங்களில் தவறி விட்டோம் சக்தியின்றி;
நீக்கவேண்டும் தோஷத்தைப் பரிஹாரத்தால்!”

“தவறு இழைத்தவர்கள் நீங்கள் அல்லவே!
தவறு செய்யாதவர்களுக்கு தண்டனை ஏது?

தேவியின் ஆணவத்தை அடக்க விரும்பினேன்;
தேவிக்கு உணர்த்த என் சக்தியை ஒடுக்கினேன்!”

தேவி உணர்ந்தாள் பரிஹாரம் என்பதைத்
தேவர்கள் அல்ல, தான் செய்யவேண்டும்!.

“இருள் கவிந்தது என்னுடைய தவற்றால்;
அருள் கூர்ந்து சொல்லுங்கள் பரிஹாரம்!”

45c. Parihaaram

Parvati realized her folly and apologized to Siva. Lord Siva created eleven crore Rudraas. They did elaborate four kaala puja in the temple at Thiruvidai Maruthoor that night.

Siva was very pleased with their puja. He gave them his dharshan The Rudraas prayed, “The universe must be active as before. Please grant our prayer”.

Siva accepted their prayer and made the world active as before. The Deva got up from their deep sleep and went about their usual business.

They came to Siva and prayed to him,”We failed in our prescribed duties. Please tell us the parihaaram to be done by us.”

Siva replied to them, “You did not do anything wrong and so there is no need for you to do any parihaaram. Devi spoke with self pride. i wanted to prove to her the truth and withheld my power. ”

Now Parvati realized that it was not the Deva but she herself who had to do the parihaaram. She prayed to Siva, “Please tell me the parihaaram to be done by me, to rectify my mistake”

5#30b. நிசும்பனின் வீழ்ச்சி (2)

தாக்கினான் தேவியின் சிங்கத்தை – தேவியோ
ஆக்கினாள் அவன் சிரசை உடலிருந்து வேறாக.

சிரமறுந்த பிறகும் நிசும்பன் சுற்றி வந்தான் – தன்
கரங்களில் ஆயுதங்களை ஏந்திய வண்ணம்!

வெட்டினாள் தேவி அவன் கை, கால்களை;
தட்டுத் தடுமாறி வீழ்ந்து மாண்டான் நிசும்பன்.

ஓடினர் அசுர வீரர் சும்பாசுரனிடம் மீண்டும்;
தேடினான் இளவலை அசுர வீரர் இடையே.

“வீழ்ந்தான் களத்தில் நிசும்பன் அரசே! இனி
வாழ்வோம் நாம் போரைக் கைவிட்டால்;

பெண்ணல்ல வந்துள்ளவள் அறியும் அரசே!
பெண்ணுருவத்தில் வந்துள்ள மரண தேவதை.

காலம் கனியும் வரை மறைந்து உறைவோம்
காலம் கனிந்த பின்னர் அமரரை வெல்வோம்.

அனுகூலமான காலம் அளிக்கும் நன்மை.
பிரதி கூலமாகும்போது அவதிப் படுத்தும்.

தோல்வியல்ல நாம் பாதளம் செல்வது;
தோல்வியாகும் வீணே உயிர் துறப்பது!

அஞ்சி ஓடி ஒளிந்தனர் தேவர்கள் அன்று;
வஞ்சியை அனுப்பியுள்ளனர் இங்கு இன்று.

காலம் கனியக் காத்திருந்தனர் அமரர்;
காலம் கனியக் காத்திருப்போம் நாமும்!”

5#30b. The fall of Nisumban (2)

Nisumban attacked Devi’s lion. Devi decapitated him propmtly. The headless body of Nisumban went round the battle field wielding his weapons. Devi then cut off his legs and arms. Nisumban fell down quite dead.

The asura warriors ran back to Sumban. He was searching for his brother Nisumban among them. The asuraas said,

“Nisumban is dead too. The only way to escpe death is to go back to Paataalam now. It is not a woman who has come here. It is the angel of death in the guise of a woman.


Let us live in hiding till the time becomes more favourable. After that we can defeat the Devaas very easily. There is nothing wrong in going to Paataalam and abiding for a more fortunate time.

It is utterly foolish to get killed in vain. The Devaas went into hiding previously. Now they have sent this strange and strong woman to fight with us. If they can abide for a favourable time we too can do the same.”

9b. கடும் போர்.

கடலோடு கடலெனக் கலந்தது
படையோடு படை அக்களத்தில்.

இறந்தொழிந்தனர் எண்ணற்றவர்கள்,
குருதியாறு சென்று கலந்தது கடலில்

தாக்கிய அவுணர் படைக்குச் சற்று
தளர்ந்து விட்டனர் பூதப் படையினர்.

நூறாயிரவரில் வந்தார் ஓராயிரவர்
மூவாயிரவரை எதிர்த்துப் போரிட!

ஆயிரவர் தேர்களை அழித்தனர்
மூவாயிரவர்கள் கணை மழையால்.

கணைகளும், கற்களும் பறந்தன.
இணையாகவில்லை பூதப் படை.

ஆயிரவர் தோற்றதும் முன் வந்தார்
மூவாயிரவருடன் போரிட விசயர்!

மாண்டு விழுந்தபின் மூவாயிரவர்
மீண்டும் உயிர்தெழுந்தனர் விந்தை!

அறுபட்ட உறுப்புக்கள் ஒரு நொடியில்
மறுபடி முன்போல வளர்ந்துவிட்டன.

“நான்முகன் தந்த மேன்மை உள்ளவரை
போர்முகத்தில் வெல்லுவது எங்ஙனம்?”

விண்ணில் தோன்றிய வேல் முருகன்.
தண்ணருள் புரிந்து தந்தான் ஆயுதம்.

வைரவர் படைக் கலத்தை உருவாக்கி
“எய்வாய் இதை மூவாயிரவர் மீது!” என.

மாயப்படையைச் செலுத்தினர் அவுணர்.
மாயத்தை அழித்தது வைரவப் படை.

அவுணர்கள் மூவாயிரவரையும் ஒரே
கணத்தில் அழித்தது வைரவர் படை!

நூறாயிரம் வீரர்களில் ஒருவன் தனியே
மூவாயிரவரை அழித்ததை அறிந்தான்;

தாளாத துன்பத்தை அடைந்த சூரபத்மன்
மாளாதத் துயரக் கடலில் மூழ்கினான்!

4 # 9 b. The war.

The two armies moved in like the merging of two oceans. Many thousands fell dead. A river of blood flowed into the sea.

The army of demons faced a slight setback from the powerful attack of the asura army.

One thousand valiant warriors from the army of demons came forward to fight the three thousand sons of Soorapadman.

Their chariots were broken by the rain of arrows shot by the asura army. A lone worrier Vijayan came forward to fight the three thousand princes.

The princes who got killed, immediately came back to life! Their cut off limbs grew back immediately. The princes had special boons given by Brahma. How could anyone defeat these princes?

Murugan appeared in the sky. He created the Vairava asthram and gave it to Vijayan for shooting at the three thousand princes.

Meanwhile the asura princes shot the maaya asthram for deluding the army of demons.The Vairava asthram destroyed the mAaya asthram and went on to kill the three thousand princes.


That a single warrior killed the three thousand princes was too much to bear for Soorapadman and he fell in a sea of sorrow.

15d. வல்லபை

“யமனோடு தோன்றியவள் யமுனை நதி;
யமுனா தீரத்தில் வசிக்கிறார் மரீசி ரிஷி.

நதியில் தாமரையாக மலர்ந்து இரு,
நதியில் அவர் நீராட வரும் போது!

கண்டு உன்னைஅவர் நெருங்கும்போது
பெண் குழந்தையாக நீயும் மாறி விடு!

அன்புடன் பேணுவார் முனிவர் – உன்னை
ஆனைமுகன் வடிவில் கைப் பிடிப்பேன்!”

அகன்றாள் கயிலையில் இருந்து தேவி;
அமர்ந்தாள் அம்புய மலர் மீது நதியில்.

வெண் சங்கு உருவெடுத்து தவத்தில்
ஒண்டாமரை மலர் மீது இருந்தாள்.

புனித நீராட யமுனை நதிக்கு வந்தார்
முனிவர் தம் மனைவி, சுற்றத்தோடு.

ஒண்டாமரை ஒளி கண்ணைப் பறித்தது;
வெண்சங்கின் ஒளி கருத்தைப் பறித்தது.

தண்ணருள் கண்டு வியந்தார் முனிவர்
வெண்சங்கு குழந்தையாக மாறியபோது!

அளித்தார் மனைவிக்கு அன்புப் பரிசாக;
வளர்த்தனர் நற்பண்புடன் வல்லபையாக.

“கைலாசபதியைக் குறித்துத் தவம் செய்ய
செய்வீர் தகுந்ததொரு தவச்சாலை” என்றாள்.

அமைத்தார் மரீசி மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் தவச்சாலை;
அமர்ந்தாள் வல்லபை அரும்தவம் புரிவதற்கு.

அன்ன, பானம் விடுத்தது உடலை வருத்திச்
சின்னப் பெண் செய்தது அரும் தவம் ஆனது.

‘மற்ற பெண்களைப்போல இல்லையே இவள்!’
குற்றமாக எண்ணினாள் அன்னை வேதவல்லி.

#45d. Vallabha

Siva told Parvati Devi, “River Yamuna came into being along with Yama. Sage Mareechi lives in the banks of river Yamuna. You become a lotus flower in the river Yamuna and wait for the sage there.

When he sees you and comes near, you become a baby girl. He will adopt you and bring you up well. I will marry you in the form of Vinayaka.”

Parvati Devi left Kailash and went to the river Yamuna. She transformed herself into a lovely white conch and sat on a lotus flower doing penance on Siva.

The lotus flower and the white conch placed on it shone with unusual brilliance, catching the attention of the sage, when he came to bathe in the river with his wife, kith and kin.

He moved closed to have a better look and the conch changed into a lovely baby girl. The sage became very happy and gave that baby girl to his wife Vedavalli. They named her a Vallabha and brought her up with great affection.

When Vallabha became a little older, she told the sage Mareechi her father, “Please get a place ready for me to do penance on lord Siva.”

The sage arranged for a tapo saalaa and Vallabha sat in deep penance. Vedavalli found this strange on the part of a little girl, who was supposed to spend the time playing with her little friends.

5#31a. சும்பாசுரன் வதம் (1)

சிவந்தான் கண்கள் சும்பாசுரன் – பிறகு
சினந்தான் அறிவுரை கூறிய அசுரரிடம்.

“எனக்கே அறிவுரை கூறும் துணிச்சல்
எங்கிருந்து வந்துள்ளது உங்களுக்கு?

பறி கொடுத்தேன் மதியமைச்சர்களை;
பறி கொடுத்தேன் வலிய தளபதிகளை.

பறி கொடுத்தேன் என் இனிய இளவலை;
பலி கொடுப்பேன் என் உயிரையும் நான்.

நாணமின்றிப் பாதாள உலகம் சென்று
நான் மட்டும் உயிர் வாழ்ந்திடுவேனோ?

அறிவேன் நானும் காலத் தத்துவத்தை – நாடி
வருகின்றன வினைப் பயன்கள் நம்மைத் தேடி.

சக்தி இல்லை நம்மிடம் காலத்தை மாற்றிட.
சக்தி உண்டு தெய்வத்திடம் காலத்தை மாற்றிட.

தெய்வ சக்தியே வலியது காலத்திலும்;
தெய்வ சக்தியை மதிக்கின்றேன் நான்.

செய்ய முடியாது காலம் எந்தத் தீமையும்;
செய்யவிடாது நான் நம்புகின்ற தெய்வம்;

நிலைத்து நிற்கும் உலகில் புகழ் ஒன்றே
நிலையற்றவை உடல், பொருள், ஆவி.

நிலையற்ற உடலின் உதவியால் நான்
நிலையான புகழை ஈட்ட வேண்டும்.

செல்வோம் போருக்கு எஞ்சியவருடன்
செல்வது செல்லட்டும் வருவது வரட்டும்!"

5# 31a. The fall of Sumbaasuran (1)

Sumbaasuran’s eyes glowed red like live coals with his rising anger. He roared at the asuraa warriors who had dared to advise him to surrender unconditionally to Devi.

“What gave you the courage to advise me thus? I have lost my loyal ministers in this war. I have lost my valiant generals in this war. I have lost my dear brother Nisumban in this war. I am willing to give up my life also in this war.

Will I run away to Paataalam shamelessly and live in hiding just to save to save my hide? I too know the importance of Time Factor and how it affects our lives. The fruits of our past karma keep coming to us relentlessly.

We are powerless to change the Time Factor. But God who is more powerful can defeat the Time Factor. I believe in God and that beleief will protect me from the ill effects of unfavorable time. God will not allow the bad time to affect me badly.

In this world the only thing that lives after us is our name and fame. The body, the possessions and the life will all be lost. I have to earn the immortal fame sacrificing my mortal body.

Let us go to the war front with the remaining soldiers. Those who want to go away may do so. Those who want to go with me may do so.”

10a. தருமகோபன்.

மதிமந்திரி தருமகோபன் சொன்னான்;
“விதியை வென்றிட இயலாது மன்னா!

உள்ளம் தளர்ந்து நீ நின்றுவிட்டால்
உள்ளம் குளிர்வர் நம் பகைவர்கள்.

நாணம் கொள்ளுவர் நம் இனத்தவர்.
நாளையே போரில் வெல்லலாமே!”

“நானே செல்வேன்!” என்று சூரன் கூற;
‘நானே செல்லுவேன் மன்னா” என்றான்!

தருமகோபன் போருக்குத் தயார் ஆனான்;
அரிய போர்க்கோலம் அவன் தரித்தான்.

புண்டரீகம் என்னும் திக்குயானை மீது
கண்டவர் அஞ்சக் களம் சென்றான்.

படைகள் கலந்தன; போர் துவங்கியது.
இடைவெளி இன்றித் தாக்கினர் பூதர்.

அவுணப் படை அழிந்தே போனது.
அவுணரைத் துரத்தி அழித்தனர் பூதர்.

மலை போன்ற யானையின் மீதிருந்து
மழை போல எய்தான் கணைகளை.

களைக்காத புண்டரீகம் பூதர்களை
வளைத்து, வீசி, மிதித்துக் கொன்றது.

தருமகோபன் எய்த நூறு கணைகளால்
தளர்ச்சி அடைந்தார் வீரமார்த்தாண்டர்.

மார்பைத் தாக்கிய தடியின் அடியால்
மயங்கிச் சிலையானார் வீரபுரந்தரர்.

விரைந்து வந்தார் வீரவாகுத் தேவர்.
வீர மொழிகள் பேசினார் அவுணனிடம்.

4 # 10a. Dharmagopan

Minister Dharmagopan consoled Soorapadman.

“No one can change the destiny. We have to accept it! If you become disheartened, our enemies will rejoice and celebrate.
Our race will be ashamed of this. We can still win the war tomorrow.”

Soorapadman said,”I will led the army tomorrow”
Dharmagopan said, I will lead the army myself.”

He got ready for the war. He rode on one of the ashta dig gajas called Pundareekam. It was awe inspiring to watch him ride that elephant the size of a mountain.

The asuras were attacked relentlessly by the demons. Their army was almost vanquished. Those who tried to run away were captured and put to death.

Dharmagopan became very angry and started showering the arrows like a rain cloud. His elephant also fought valiantly. It threw down the demons and killed them by stamping with its legs.

Veera maarthaandar became dizzy with one hundred arrows shot at his forehead. Veera purantharar was hit in the chest by the dandam and fainted.

Seeing this Veera baahu rushed there and challenged Dharmagopan for a war.

15e. வல்லபை

“பிற பெண்களைப்போல அல்ல வல்லபை!
பிறந்துள்ளாள் பார்வதியே வல்லபையாக.

பெருமானை மணக்கத் தவம் செய்கிறாள்;
புரிந்து கொள்வாய் நீ அதைத் தடுக்காதே!”

பன்னிரண்டு வயதானது வல்லபைக்கு;
பெண்ணுக்கு அருள் புரிய நேரம் வந்தது.

வினாயகர் சொன்னார் சிவனிடம் சென்று;
“அநாவசியமாக நாளைக் கடத்தவேண்டாம்.”

அந்தணர் வடிவம் தரித்தார் சிவபிரான்
வந்தார் வல்லபையின் தவச்சாலைக்கு.

ஆசனம் அளித்து உபசரித்த வல்லபை,
“காரணம் என்ன தங்கள் வருகைக்கு?” என

“மணம் புரியவந்தேன் கன்னி உன்னை நான்!’
சினம் பீறிட்டது வல்லபையின் உள்ளத்தில்!

“வரித்து விட்டேன் பெருமானைக் கணவராக;
வெறுத்து விட்டேன் பிற ஆடவரை என்றோ!

உள்ளத்தில் இடமில்லை வேறு எவருக்கும்;
உள்ளதை மாற்ற முடியாது வேறு எவராலும்”

“நடக்கவே முடியாத ஒன்றில் நாட்டமா?
கிடைக்க முடியாத ஒன்றுக்காக தவமா?”

“கிடைக்காவிட்டால் உயிரை விடுவேன்!
கிடைக்க மாட்டேன் வேறு எவருக்கும்!

சென்று விடுங்கள் நீங்கள் இங்கிருந்து;
சென்று விடுகிறேன் நானே இங்கிருந்து.”

அந்தணனைக் காணவில்லை கண்முன்னே .
ஆனைமுகன் வடிவில் நின்றார் சிவபிரான்.

வலம் வந்து வணங்கினாள் வல்லபை;
“வரம் என்ன வேண்டும் கூறு பெண்ணே!”

"வலப் பக்கத்தில் இணை பிரியாது என்றும்
நிலையாக இருக்க அருள் புரிய வேண்டும்!”

#45e. Vallabha

Sage Mareechi told his wife Vedavalli, ” Vallabha is not an ordinary girl like the other children. She is the amsam of Parvati Devi herself.

She is born to marry Lord Vinayaka. Understand and remember this fact and do not discourage her in her efforts”

Now Vallabha was twelve years old. Vinayaka told Lord Siva, “It is time to bless and make Vallabha’s penance fruitful. Do not delay any further.”

Siva went to the tapo saalaa of Vallabha transformed as a Brahmin. Vallabha welcomed him and offered him a seat.

She asked the Brahmin, “What is the purpose of your visit here?”

The Brahmin replied point blank, “I want to marry you! I have come here only to marry you.”

Vallabha became terribly angry on hearing these words. “I have decided to marry Vinayaka long since. I can’t marry anyone else now. ”

The Brahmin made fun of her now. “You are dreaming to achieve something which can never take place. You are doing penance for something that is impossible.”

Vallabha replied harshly, “If it is impossible I will rather give up my life than give up my dream of marrying Vinayaka. Please go away from here now. Or I myself will go away from here!”

She wanted to leave the place abruptly in her anger. But now the Brahmin had disappeared and lord Siva stood there in the form of Vinayaka.

She fell at his feet. Vinayaka asked her, “What is that you wish for pretty damsel?” Vallabha replied “I want to occupy your right side for eternity from now on!”

Vinayaka granted her that wish.

5#31b. சும்பாசுரன் வதம் (2)

பூண்டான் கவசமும் போக்கோலமும் – கைக்
கொண்டான் விவித ஆயுதங்களைச் சும்பன்.

சென்றான் சதுரங்க சேனை பின் தொடர்ந்திட
அன்னையும், சக்தியரும் இருந்த இடத்துக்கு.

“விந்தையாக இருக்கின்றது இவள் அழகு!
சிந்தையை மயக்குகின்றது இவள் அழகு!

ஒளிர்கின்றாள் மின்னல் போல் கண்கள் கூசிட,
ஒளிர்கின்றது கரிய மேனியும் கண்கள் கூசிட;

எங்கனம் பொருந்தின இங்கு ஒளியும், இருளும்?
மன்மதன் மயங்குவான்! மயங்க மாட்டாள் இவள்!

மந்திரம், தந்திரம், யந்திரம் பயன் தரா – இந்தச்
சிந்தையைக் கவர்ந்த சுந்தரியைக் கவர்ந்திட.

வசப்படமாட்டாள் சாம தான பேதத்துக்கு!
வசப்படுவாளோ இவளை நான் வென்றால்?

ஓடிப் பாதளம் செல்வதும் சரியல்ல – இவளை
நாடிச் சென்று உயிர் விடுவதும் சரியல்ல !

புகழ்ச்சி அடைவேன் போரில் வென்றால்;
இகழ்ச்சி அடைவேன் புறமுதுகிட்டால்!

வருவது வரட்டும்; நடப்பது நடக்கட்டும்;
வீரமரணமோ, வெற்றியோ எதுவாயினும் சரி.”

காமவேதனை கூடியது தேவி எழிலால்;
கடைசியாகக் கவர முயன்றான் தேவியை

தன் இனிய சாதுர்ய வாதத்தினால்,
தன் முயற்சியில் தளராத சும்பாசுரன்.

Sumbaasuran donned his armour and took hold of his special weapons. He went along with his army to the place where Devi and the other forms of Shaktis were present.

He got stunned by his first glance at Devi. ‘Her beauty is something very rare. Her beauty is indeed mesmerising. She shines like the streak of lightning. And yet her hue is very dark. How can darkness and luster coexist?

Manmathan may get infatuated with her but she will not infatuated even with Manmathan. Mantra, Tantra and Yantra will be of no use to make this lady come round. Nor will she be brought round by saama or daana or bedha.

May be if I win over her she will accept me! Running away to Paataalam is not the right thing to do. Confronting her and getting killed by her will also go in vain.

I will gain fame and a name if I win in this war. I will be ridiculed if I run away to Pataalam. Let anything happen – be it a victory or defeat and death in her hands.’

10b. தருமகோபன் வீழ்ச்சி.

“முடியுமானால் காத்துக் கொள்வாய் !”
முடிவாகக் கூறினான் தருமகோபன்!

தருமகோபன் எய்த கூரிய அம்புகளோ
தருமசங்கடத்தை ஏற்படுத்தின அங்கு.

வலிய வீரவாகுவின் மார்பில் பட்டு
வலுவிழந்து கூர் மழுங்கி விழுந்தன!

வீரவாகு வீசிய வேற்படையால்
அறிவிழந்து நின்றான் தருமகோபன்.

கோடுகளால் அவரைத் தாக்கிய யானை
பொடிப் பொடியாக்கியது அவர் தேரை.

துதிக்கையைக் கையால் பற்றி அறைய
தூக்கி எறியப்பட்டது யானை விண்ணில்.

விண்ணுலகம் வரை சென்று மீண்டும்
மண்ணுலகில் வந்து விழுந்தது அது.

மார்பில் விழுந்த ஒரு அறையால்
மண்ணில் விழுந்தான் தருமகோபன்.

கால்களால் வீரவாகு உதைக்கவே
காலன் உயிரைப் பறித்துச் சென்றான்.

“திக்கு யானைகளில் நானும் ஒருவன்.
திக்கில்லாமல் இவனைப் பணிந்தேன்.

காவலில் சிறையில் இருந்தேன் நான்!
ஏவல்கள் செய்து திரிந்தேன் நான்.

என் தவறு என இங்கு எதுவுமில்லை.
என்னிடத்துக்கு என்னைச் செல்லவிடு”

செய்தி போயிற்று சூரபத்ம அவுணனுக்கு.
செய்வது அறியாமல் மயங்கி நின்றான்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

4 # 10.b. Dharmagopan falls.

“Save yourself if you can! Dharmagopan taunted Veerabaahu.
But his sharp arrows caused him shame since when they hit the strong body of Veerabaahu, they became useless and fell down without harming him.

Veerabaahu threw his spear and Dharmagopan got dazed. The elephant attacked Veerabaahu with its four tusks and damaged his chariot.

Veerabaahu caught hold of its trunk and gave it such a hard slap that it flew in the sky and rough landed on the earth.

Veerabaahu hit Dharmagopan on his chest. The asura fell down and Veerabaahu kicked him to his death.

The elephant spoke with reverence now, "I am one of the eight elephants of the eight directions. I was forced to obey Soorapadman. I was imprisoned by him. I had to carry our his commands and obey him. Please let me go back to my place.”

The elephant was sent away. The news of the fall of Dharmagopan reached Soorapadman. He felt completely lost now.

15f. திருமணம்

விரைந்தனர் மரீசியிடம் ஆசிரம வாசிகள்,
உரைத்தனர் அந்தணன் வருகை குறித்து.

‘எதிர் நோக்கி இருந்த வினாயகரே அவர்!”
எதிர் கொண்டழைக்க ஓடினார் ரிஷி மரீசி.

“புத்திரியை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டருள வேண்டும்,
உத்தரவு வேண்டும் மண ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்ய!”

பிரம்மாண்டமான பந்தலை அமைத்தனர்
பிரமன், விஷ்ணு, இந்திராதி தேவர்கள்.

முனிபுங்கவர்களை அழைத்தனர் உளமார;
இனிதாகத் திருமணத்தை நடத்துவதற்கு.

வல்லபையின் வலக்கரம் விநாயகர் பற்ற,
வாழ்த்துக் கூறினார் வந்திருந்த அதிதிகள்.

பன்னிரு குமாரிகளுடன் வந்தார் விஷ்ணு.
பன்னிருவரையும் அளித்தார் பகவானுக்கு.

விநாயக பெருமானை வேண்டினார் விஷ்ணு.
“விஸ்வரூபத்தைக் காட்டியருள வேண்டும்.

ஞான மார்க்கத்தைப் போதிக்க வேண்டும்.”
ஞான மார்க்கத்தை போதித்து அருளினார்.

வரங்களை வாரி வாரி வழங்கினார்;
இருப்பிடம் திரும்பினர் அனைவரும்.

குறைவின்றி வாழ்ந்தனர் நெடுங்காலம்
திருவடி சேர்ந்தனர் இறைவன் அருளால்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#15f. The Wedding

The people who lived in Mareechi’s aashram rushed to tell him about the arrival of a Brahmin. Mareechi knew that it was none other than Vinayaka and ran to receive him with due honor.

He requested Vinayaka to marry his daughter Vallabha and also give him permission to go ahead with the wedding arrangements. Vinayaka agreed to both.

Brahma, Vishnu and Indra got ready a huge pandal with the help of the other Deva. All the sages were invited in order to perform the wedding in a grand manner.

Vinayaka married Vallabha and they were blessed by all the guests of honor. Vishnu presented his twelve daughters to Vinayaka. Vishnu prayed to Vinayaka to reveal his viswaroopam and teach the gnaana maargham.

Vinayaka obliged. In addition to these he showered several boons on the people who had gathered for his wedding.

Everybody went back to their respective places. Those who got blessed by Vinayaka lived for a long time and finally reached his lotus feet, when they left this world.
