VINAAYAKA PURAANAM - 2

#44j. Perversions

Vinayaka became a young boy and entered the city of Kasi easily. He made the people there get terrifying nightmares. He told them the suitable parihaaram and easily won their confidence very soon.

He told the people of Kasi, “Terrible things will happen to Kasi soon. These nightmares indicate that!” Many people left Kasi, fearing the imminent danger. Those who could not leave the city lived in constant fear.

Many hurdles developed in the daily activities. Nothing seemed to happen in perfect order. The king Ripunjayan got worried about these sudden developments.

His queen Leelaavathy told him about the boy-astrologer who predicted everything accurately and knew the past as well he did as the future.

Vinayaka – the boy astrologer- was brought before the king Ripunjayan. The king told the boy,

“My rule had gone on till now without a hitch. Suddenly everything seems to be going wrong. Is it an omen for the future or is my rule coming to an end?”

The boy astrologer told the king, “A Brahmin will come to Kasi on the seventeenth day from today. He will answer your questions”

Meanwhile Siva sent Vishnu and Lakshmi to spread confusion and cause perversion in the minds of the people. Vishnu spoke ill of the yaagaa and Yagna to the men folk.

Lakshmi told the women that there was no need to remain chaste and that it was perfectly alright to seek pleasure in the company of the other men.

5#29a. ரக்த பீஜன் (4 )

சிறந்த அசுர குல வீரன் ரக்த பீஜன் – அவன்
சிறந்த வரம் பெற்றிருந்தான் ருத்திரனிடம்.

சிந்தும் ஒவ்வொரு துளி ரத்தமும் செய்யும்
சிந்திக்க ஒண்ணாத ஓர் அற்புதச் செயலை!

தோன்றுவான் ஓரசுரன் அதிலிருந்து – அதே
தோற்றமும், வலிமையையும் பெற்றவனாக.

அசரவில்லை ரக்த பீஜன் தேவியரைக் கண்டு;
அடித்தான் வைஷ்ணவியைச் சக்தி ஆயுதத்தால்.

தடுத்தாள் தேவி கதையால்; ஏவினாள் சக்கரத்தை;
கொட்டியது மலையருவி போல ரத்தப் பெருக்கு.

தோன்றினான் ஓரசுரன் ஒவ்வொரு துளியிலும்
தோற்றதிலும் வலிமையிலும் அவன் போலவே.

மேலும் மேலும் வைஷ்ணவி தேவி தாக்கவே
தோன்றினர் மேலும் மேலும் பல அசுரர்கள்.

தாக்கினாள் பிரம்மாணி பிரம்ம தண்டத்தால்
குத்தினாள் மாஹேஸ்வரி தன் சூலாயுதத்தால்.

கீறினாள் கூறிய நகங்களால் நாரசிம்மி தேவி;
கிழித்தாள் கோரைப் பற்களால் வாராஹி தேவி.

மார்பில் அறைந்தாள் ரக்த பீஜனைக் கௌமாரி.
போர்க்களம் நிறைந்து விட்டது அசுரர்களால்.

கவலை கொண்டனர் கண்ணுற்ற தேவர்கள்!
அவலை நினைத்து உமியை இடித்தது போல!

சிறுத்துக் காணப் படும் சக்தியர்களின் கூட்டம்
பெருத்து வரும் அசுரர் கூட்டத்தை வெல்வதா?

சும்பனும் நிசும்பனும் வந்து சேர்ந்து விட்டால்
சுலபமாக அசுரர்களை வென்றிட முடியுமா?

5#29a. Rakta Beejan (4)

Rakta Beejan was one of the brave asuraa waariors. He had secured a rare boon from Rudran. From every drop of blood he shed, an asuran would appear who was as valianat as Rakta Beejan himself.

Rakta Beejan was not ruffled by the numerous Devis. He attacked Vaishnavi with his spear. Vaishnavi blocked it with her mace and released her discus.

Rakta Beejan bled like a waterfall from the wound made by the discus. There apeeared an asura from every drop of his blood who was as valiant as Rakjta Beejan himself.

The more and more VaishNavi attacked him, the more and more asuraas appeared in the war front. BrahmaaNi attacked him with her Brahma dandam.

Maaheswari attacked him with her trident. Naarasimmi tore open his flesh with her sharp nails. Vaaraahi bit him hard with her powerfiul teeth. Kowmaari hit him on his chest.

The ozzing blood caused many thousands of asuraas appear and now the field was filled with the Rakta Beejan look alikes.

The Devaas got worried to see this The Devis were outnumbered by the asuras whose strength was increasing by the minute. If Sumban and Nisumban also came and joined the asuraa’s side, victory would become impossible.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

8e. இருபத்து நாலாயிரவர்.

அக்கினிமுகன் விழுந்ததும் பெரும்
அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தனர் அவுணர்கள்.

படை வீர்கள் இருபத்து நாலாயிரவர்
புடை சூழ்ந்தனர் வீரவாத் தேவரை.

கணைகள், உருளைகள் , வேல், மழு
கப்பணம் சொரிந்து போர் புரிந்தனர்.

வீரவாகு வில்லை வளைத்து எய்தார்
நூறு ஆயிரம் கோடிக் கணைகள்.

உரப்பினர் அவுணர்கள் அஞ்சும்படி;
சொரிந்தார் கணைகளை மழையாக.

அவுணர்கள் படைக்கலம் இழந்தனர் .
அவுணர்கள் வெட்டுண்டு விழுந்தனர்.

அழிந்து போயின கரிகளும், பரிகளும்;
ஒழிந்து போயின தேர்கள் எல்லாம்!

பறந்தன பருந்துகள் விண்ணில்;
பரந்தது குருதியாறு மண்ணில்.

மிதக்கும் வேல்களும், வாட்களும்,
மின்னும் கயல்கள் போல் தோன்றின.

செந்நீரில் வெண் குடைகள் சென்றன
செவ்வானில் முழு நிலவைப் போலவே.

ரத, கஜ, துரக, பதாதி என்னும் நாற்படை
எதுவும் மிச்சமின்றி அழிந்து போயிற்று.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

 4 # 8e. The Twenty four thousand warriors.

When Agni mukhan fell, the asura army was shocked beyond words. The twenty four thousand warriors surrounded Veerabaahu.They fought using arrows, discusses, spears, and mazhu.

Veerabaahu shot one hundred thousand crores arrows or
one trillion arrows. He made a terrible noise and made the asura army tremble with fear. The asura army lost all its armaments. The asuras fell down with several limbs severed.

The horses, elephants and chariots were completely destroyed. Carrion birds filed the sky. A river of fresh blood started flowing. The swords and the spears carried by that river appeared to be the fish in the river.

The White umbrellas swam in the river of blood reminding one of the full moon racing across the red sunset sky.

Nothing and no one of the army was left behind alive.

14k. திவோதாசன்

பட்டணம் முழுவது சுற்றினார் விஷ்ணு;
பதினேழாவது நாள் சென்றார் அரசனிடம்.

ஜோசியர் கூறிய அந்தணன் அவரே என
ஆசையுடன் வரவேற்றான் ரிபுஞ்ஜயன்.

யோகபலத்தால் அறிந்து கொண்டான்,
லோகநாதனே தன்னிடம் வந்தார் என.

“அஞ்ஞானம் மறைந்தது தரிசனத்தால்;
மெய்ஞானம் பிறந்தது என் சித்தத்தில்.

தடுத்தேன் தேவர்கள் காசிக்கு வருவதை;
பகைத்தேன் தேவர்களைக் காரணமின்றி!

விநாயகர் வித்திட்டார் அறியாமை விலகிட.
அநாயாசமாகத் தீர்த்துவிட்டார் பகையை.

அறியாமல் செய்த பிழையை மன்னியுங்கள்;
சரியான பரிஹாரம் தெரிவியுங்கள்” என்றான்.

சுயவுருவைக் காட்டினார் விஷ்ணு மூர்த்தி;
தயவுடன் மன்னித்து அவனை வாழ்த்தினார்.

“மந்தர கிரியில் தங்கி இருக்கும் சிவபிரான்
சொந்தத் தலமான காசியை விழைகின்றார்.

தெரியாமல் செய்த பிழைகள் மறைந்து விடும்
விரும்பும் காசியை தேவர்களுக்கு அளித்தால்!”

காசி நகரை அளித்தான் சிவபிரானுக்கு – தன்
ஐசுவர்யத்தில் ஒதுக்கினான் ஒரு பகுதியை.

ஆலயம் எழுப்பி, ஆராதனைகள் செய்தான்;
அரசாட்சி செய்து, அரன் திருவடி சேர்ந்தான்.

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM -2

44k. Divodaasan

Vishnu roamed in the city of Kasi and went to the king Ripunjayan on the seventeenth day. The king welcomed him heartily, knowing that it was the Brahmin the astrologer had spoken about.

He also knew that it was none other than Vishnu who had come to meet him as a Brahmin. He spoke in all humility, “I got enlightened by your divine dharshan. My ignorance had vanished now.

I stopped the Deva from entering Kasi and made them my enemies. Vinayaka made it possible that my ignorance got removed and the seed of knowledge was planted. Please pardon my thoughtless actions and tell me how I can make up for my faulty behavior”

Vishnu was very pleased with him and showed himself in his true glory. He told Ripunjayan, ” Lord Siva wishes to return to Kasi. If you allow the Deva to enter Kasi all your wrong actions will be pardoned”

Ripunjayan welcomed Siva and the Deva into Kasi. He spent half of his wealth in building temple for Siva and doing aaraadhana regularly. He ruled well for a long time and merged with the lotus feet of Siva when his time came to leave this world.

5#29b. ரக்த பீஜன் (5)

மஹா சக்தி கூறினாள் சாமுண்டி தேவியிடம்,
“மஹா கவனம் கொள்ள வேண்டும் இனி நாம்;

விழக் கூடாது ஒரு துளி ரத்தமும் பூமியின் மேல்.
விழும் முன்பே பருகிவிடு பெருகும் ரத்தத்தை!

தோன்ற மாட்டார்கள் மேலும் அசுர வீரர்கள்;
வென்று விட முடியும் அசுரர்களை எளிதாக!

மடிந்து விடுவான் ரக்த பீஜன் இரத்தமிழந்து!
ஒடிந்து விடும் அசுர சேனை தளபதியை இழந்து.”

உற்சாகம் அடைந்தாள் சாமுண்டி தேவி – அவன்
உதிரம் பருகக் காத்திருந்தாள் விழிப்புணர்வுடன்!

குடித்தாள் ரத்தத்தை அது கீழே விழும் முன்பே.
கடித்து மென்றாள் தோன்றியிருந்த அசுரர்களை.

மயங்கினான் ரத்தம் வற்றியதால் ரக்த பீஜன்;
மாய்த்தாள் தேவி அவனை வாளால் வெட்டி.

சொட்டு விழாமல் ரத்தம் பருகிய சாமுண்டி
கொட்டம் அடித்தாள் கொட்டி முழக்கியபடி.

எஞ்சிய அசுர வீரர்கள் புரறமுதுகிட்டனர்;
தஞ்சம் அடைந்தனர் சும்ப, நிசும்பர்களை;

“கொன்றுவிட்டனர் ரக்த பீஜனையும் இன்று!
மென்று தின்றனர் இறந்த அசுரர் உடல்களை!

விழுங்கியது சிங்கம் அசுரர் உடல்களை;
விழுங்கினாள் காளியும் அசுரர் உடல்களை!

கூத்தாடுகின்றாள் ரத்தம் பருகிய சாமுண்டி.
பார்த்ததே இல்லை இது போன்ற ஒரு காட்சி!

5#29b. Raktha Beejan (5)

Mahaa Shakti told ChaamuNdi Devi, “We must be very careful not to spill any more blood on the ground. You must drink the blood before it can fall down and produce more asuraas.

Raktha Beejan will lose all his blood and drop dead. The asuraa army will take to its heels with no one to command it!”

ChaamuNdi became very eager to drink the fresh blood of Rakta Beejan. She drank his blood before it could fall on the ground.

She also gobbled up as many asuraas as had appeared there earlier. Rakta Beejan lost all his blood and fell faint in the field. Devi decapitated him immediately with her sword.

ChaamuNdi got intoxicated by the fresh blood she had drunk and exhibited it with her loud screams and wild dances.

The asuraas who were left alive took to their heels and ran to Sumban and Nisumban. They told them the happenings of that day.

“Rakta Beejan also got killed today. Kaali and the lion ate up the dead bodies of the asuraas. ChaamuNdi drank the fresh blood of Rakta Beejan and went into a frenzy. We have never before witnessed such a horrible sight in all our lives!”
 
8f. தம்பிகளைத் தேடுதல்.

பிரிந்து நின்று போர் புரிந்தவர்கள்
திரும்பி வந்தனர் வீரவாகுவிடம்.

வீரபுரந்தரர் மட்டும் வந்தார் ஆனால்
வீரவாகு காணவில்லை மற்றவர்களை!

“ஏழு தம்பிகள் எங்கே?” என வினவவும்,
“எழுவரையும் அக்கினிமுகன் கொன்றான்

நூறு யோசனைக்கு அப்பால் உள்ள,
ஒரு ஆலமரத்தடியில்” என்றார் உக்கிரர்.

விக்கித்து நின்றார் வீரவாகுத் தேவர்;
உக்கிரரின் மொழியினைக் கேட்டதும்.

ஆலமரத்தடியை விரைந்து அடைந்தார்;
ஓலமிட்டு அழுதார் உடல்களைக் கண்டு.

அரற்றினார், புலம்பினார், தழுவினார்,
கூற்றுவன் மீதே சினம் கொண்டார்.

கணையில் எழுதினர் கூற்றுவனுக்கு.
“இணையில்லாத செவ்வேளின் இளவல்

வீரவாகு ஆகிய நான் எமனுக்கு எழுதும்
ஒரோலை இதுவே என்பதை அறிவாய்.

இளவல்களின் உயிரைக் கவர்ந்தாய்!
இளப்பமாக எண்ணாதே எங்களை!

உடனே உயிர்களைத் திருப்பிக் கொடு
உன் உயிர் உனக்கு வேண்டும் என்றால்!”

வில்லில் அக்கணையைப் பூட்டினார்.
சொல்லரும் திறனுடன் செலுத்தினார்.

கடல்களை எல்லாம் கடந்து சென்று
மடல் விழுந்தது எமதர்மன் முன்பு.

பொறித்திருந்த செய்தியைக் கண்டு
பெரிதும் அஞ்சினான், துன்புற்றான்,

“இங்கு இல்லை அவர்கள் எழுவர்.
எங்கு உள்ளனர் ஏழு இளவல்கள்?”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
4 # 8 f. Searching for the missing brothers.


The army of demons who got separated while fighting, returned to Veerabaahu. Veera purantharar came alone and the other seven brothers were not to be seen.

Veerabaahu was told by Ugrar that the seven brothers were killed by Agni mukhan under a banyan tree a hundred yojanas away from there.

Veeranbaahu stood shocked and then rushed to that spot. He lamented and cried on seeing the dead brothers. He became very angry with Yama.

He wrote a message on his arrow demanding that the souls of the dead brothers be returned to their bodies immediately or yama will face dire consequences.

He shot the arrow with such a force that it reached the yamaloka and fell in front of Yama himself. Yama read the message and shuddered. He knew that the seven brothers were nor in his world.

But where were they?

15a. மரீசி

பிரமனிடம் கேட்டான் அவர் மகன் மரீசி,
“பரம்பொருள் என்பவர் உண்மையில் யார்?

முத்தொழில் புரியும் மும்மூர்த்திகளின்
உத்தமமான தலைவன் யார் தந்தையே?”

“மும் மூர்த்திகளைப் படைத்தவர் விநாயகர்;
முத்தொழில்களை அளித்தவரும் விநாயகர்.

முழுமுதற் கடவுள் ஆவார் விநாயகர் – அண்டம்
முழுவதும் வியாபித்து இருப்பவர் விநாயகர்.”

பக்தி பூண்டார் மரீசி விநாயகப் பெருமான் மீது;
மிக்க அன்புடன் தவம் புரிந்தார் விநாயகர் மீது.

காட்சி தந்தார் கனிவுடன் விநாயக பெருமான்,
“கேட்பாய் மரீசி நீ விரும்பும் வரங்களை!” என

“பார்வதி தேவி பிறக்க வேண்டும் என் மகளாக;
ஆர்வத்துடன் தரவேண்டும் அவளை உமக்கே!”

அனுக்ரஹம் செய்து அருளினார் விநாயகர்;
அங்கிருந்து மறைந்து அருளினார் பின்னர்.

சத்தியலோகம் திரும்பினார் மரீசி – தான்
சாதித்துப் பெற்ற வரங்களைக் கூறினார்.

வேதவல்லி என்ற கன்னியைப் படைத்தான்;
வேதநாயகன் மணம் செய்வித்தான் உடனே!

#45a. Mareechi

Mareechi was Brahma’s son. He ashed Brahma one day, “Who is the supreme among all the gods? Whose commands do the Trimoorthis obey?”

Brahma replied,” Vinayaka created the Trimoorthis and gave them their jobs of creation, protection and destruction. He is the supreme among all Gods. He is the one who pervades all the universe.”

Mareechi became a sincere devotee of Vinyaka and did severe penance on him. Vinayaka was pleased and appeared before him to grant the boons desired by Mareechi.

Mareechi wished that Parvati Devi must be born as his daughter and she must be presented to Vinayaka by him. Vinayaka granted those boons and dis appeared.

Mareechi went back to Satyalokam and told Brahma about the boons he has got from Vinayaka. Brahma was happy to hear them. He created a beautiful girl named Vedavalli and got her married to Mareechi immdiately.

5#29c. அறிவுரை

“உதவிக்கு வந்துள்ளனர் விவித சக்தியர்கள்;
உதவாது எதுவும் அவர்களை வெல்வதற்கு!

சித்தம் ஆகிவிடுங்கள் சரண் அடைவதற்கு!
மொத்தமாக ஓடிவிடுவோம் பாதாள லோகம்!”

மரண காலம் நெருங்கிவிட்டது சும்பாசுரனுக்கு;
மறுத்து விட்டான் அறிவுரையைக் கேட்பதற்கு.

“சரண் அடைய மாட்டேன் கேவலம் பெண்ணிடம்,
சரண் புகமாட்டேன் சென்று பாதாள உலகிலும்!

நண்பர்களைப் பறி கொடுத்தேன் போர் செய்து!
நற்பெயரைப் பறி கொடேன் போர் செய்யாது!

வெல்வேன் சக்தியர் கூட்டத்தைப் போரில்;
செல்வேன் வெற்றி வீரனாக நம் நாட்டுக்கு;

ஆள்வேன் ராஜ்ஜியத்தை முன் போலவே;
மாள்வேன் தேவியரை வெல்ல முடியாவிடில்.

தம்பியிடம் சொன்னான் படையுடன் தொடர.
தம்பி அவனைச் செல்ல விடவே மறுத்தான்.

“கொன்று விடுகிறேன் சக்திக் கூட்டத்தை நானே!
கொண்டு வருவேன் மகா சக்தியை மட்டும் இங்கு.

அற்பப் பெண்களுடன் போர் புரிய நீ எதற்கு?
சொற்பப் படையுடன் நானே செல்கின்றேன்!”

சென்றான் போர்க் களம் படைகள் தொடர,
அண்ணனுக்கு ஆறுதல் கூறிவிட்டு இளவல்.

5#29c. The advice

The asura warriors who ran away from the battle field advised Sumbaasuran thus:

“All the vividha Shaktis have appeared to help Mahaa Shakti in the battle. They are invincible. Get ready to surrender unconditionally. Let us get ready to go back to Paataalam”

Sumbaasuran’s end was nearing and so he would not listen to good advice. He said, “I will never surrender to women unconditionally. I will not go back to paataalam either.

I have lost all my valiant friends by taking part in the war. Now I do not want to lose my good name by not taking part in the war. I will still defeat all those Shaktis and return to my kingdom to rule it as before. In case I get defeated, I shall give up my life”

He told Nisumban to follow him with their army. But Nisumban would not let Sumban go to the war front. He said,

“I shall kill all the Shaktis who have come to assist and capture and bring Mahaa Shakti to you. There is no need for your participation to fight with a handful of women folk!”

Nisumban consoled Sumban and went to the war front with his army.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - POR PURI KAANDAM

8g. மாண்டவர் மீண்டனர்.

படை பரிவாரங்கள் புடை சூழ நமன்
உடன் சென்றான் திருக்கயிலை மலை.

ஏழு இளவல்களும் மலைச் சாரலில்
மூழ்கி இருந்தனர் தம்மை மறந்து

விஞ்சையரின் தேவ கானத்திலும்,
மஞ்சையரின் திவ்விய ஆடலிலும்!

நமனுக்கு வந்தது உயிர் மூச்சு.
நமன் வண்ங்கினான் எழுவரையும்.

‘தமையன் தம்பியரைத் தேடி இளைக்க,
தம்பியரோ இன்னிசையில் திளைக்க,

அச்சத்தில் நான் உடல் களைக்க,
இச்சையுடன் வந்தேன் அழைக்க!

விரைந்து செல்லுங்கள் பிழைக்க!
மறுபடி தர்மம் தழைக்க ” என்றான்.

தத்தம் உடலில் புகுந்து எழுந்தனர்.
தமையன் கால்களில் விழுந்தனர்.

மீண்ட இளவல்களை கண்ட வீரவாகு
மீண்டும் மீண்டும் ஆரத் தழுவினார்.

“திருநீறும், கழுத்தில் கண்மணியும்
திகழ்பவர் அருகிலே நான் செல்லேன்!

விளங்குவீர் சீருடனும் சிறப்புடனும்”
விநயமாகச் சொன்னான் நமனும்.

ஒற்றர்கள் ஓடினர் அரண்மனைக்கு.
கொற்றவனிடம் கூறினர் செய்திகளை.

அக்கினி முகனின் வீழ்ச்சியைக் கேட்டு
துக்கத்தில் மூழ்கியது நகர் முழுவதும்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - POR PURI KAANDAM

4 # 8g. The brothers return safely.

Yama left for Kailash with his retinue. He saw the seven brothers there enjoying the divine music and dances of the apsaras.

He paid obeisance to them and told them,

“Your elder brother is heart broken on your leaving the world. You are here enjoying the music and dance. I will be taken to task if you delay your return to the earth. Please go back to your bodies and establish Dharma !”

The brothers got up as if from deep sleep. Veerabaahu was overwhelmed with happiness and embraced them again and again.

Yama told them , “I never approach anyone wearing rudraaksham and holy ash. May you all live very long and glorious lives!”

The messengers ran back to their king and conveyed the news of the fall of Agni mukhan. The whole city was immersed in a sea of sorrow.

15b. சக்தி

கயிலையில் இருந்தனர் சிவனும், பார்வதியும்;
“இயங்குவது எங்கனம் அண்ட சராசரம்?” எனத்

தேவி கேட்டாள் நாதன் சிவபெருமானிடம்.
தேவிக்கு அதை விளக்கினார் சிவபெருமான்.

“தேவி! சகல காரியங்கள் நிகழ்வதற்குத்
தேவை நிமித்தம், துணை, உபாதானம்!

இவை மூன்றும் இன்றி எதுவும் நிகழாது.
இவை மூன்றுமே இன்றியமையாதவை!

நிமித்தம் நான்; துணை என்பது என் சக்தி;
நீ அறிந்த மகாமாயை ஆவாள் உபாதானம்.

சக்தி என்பது என் துணைவியாகிய நீயே!”
சக்தி கர்வம் கொண்டாள் இதைக் கேட்டு.

“நான் தான் சக்தி என்பது உண்மையானால்
நானே ஆகிறேன் தங்கள் உடலும் உயிரும்.

அசைகின்றன உலகங்கள் என் அசைவால்!”
ரசிக்கவில்லை சிவனுக்குத் தற்பெருமை.

“அறிவாய் நீ என்னுடைய சக்தியை எனினும்
பெருமை பேசினாய் உன் சக்தியை என்முன்!

காட்டுகிறேன் என் சக்தியை இப்போதே – நிலை
நாட்டுகிறேன் நான் இன்றி எதுவுமே இல்லை.”

சக்திகள் அனைத்தையும் ஒடுக்கினார் சிவன்;
சந்திரன், சூரியன், அக்னியுடன் ஒடுங்கினர்

இரவு, பகல் பேதமின்றி இருள் கவிந்தது.
உறங்கியது உலகம், உறங்கினர் தேவர்.

நின்று போயின நிகழ்வுகள் அனைத்தும்;
நின்று போயின அன்று எல்லாம் எங்கும்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

45b. Shakti

Siva and Parvati were in Kailash. Devi asked Siva, “How does the Universe function?” Siva explained to her thus,

“Devi! For anything to take place we need these three factors namely Nimiththam, ThuNai and Upadaanam. I am the Nimiththa kaaraNam for everything. You Shakti form the Thunai and Mahaamaya is the Upaadaanam.”

Shakti became very proud on hearing these words. “If I am the Shakti and the ThuNai, then I am your body and power. The whole world moves because I move!”

Siva did not relish her words nor her boasting about her power. He told her rudely,

“Knowing very well about my power, you have spoken so proudly about yourself. I shall withdraw all my powers from the universe and prove that without me nothing can ever move”

He withdrew all his powers from the Universe. The Sun, The moon and Agni disappeared completely. There was no distinction between the day and the night and darkness covered the entire universe.

The whole world slept on. The Deva slept on. Every activity came to a grinding halt everywhere immediately.

5#30a. நிசும்பனின் வீழ்ச்சி (1)

“வெற்றி அல்லது வீர மரணம்” என நிசும்பன்
சற்றும் சளைக்காமல் சரமழை பொழிந்தான்.

காளியிடம் கூறினாள் தேவி நகைப்புடன்,
கலகத்தரக்கர் பலர் மாண்டதைக் கண்டும்

கனவு காண்கின்றான் நம்மை வென்றுவிட.
கணப் பொழுதும் சிந்திக்கல்லை விளைவை.”

மறைத்தாள் நிசும்பனை அம்புத் திரையினால்;
அறுத்து ஏறிந்தான் நிசும்பன் சரத் திரையினை .

யானைக் கூட்டத்தில் புகுந்த சிங்கம் போல
அசுரர்கள் கூட்டத்தில் நுழைந்தது சிங்கம்.

“முதலில் கொல்வேன் காளியைப் போரில்.”
முடிவு செய்தான் நிசும்பன் மனத்தளவில்.

வியந்தான் தேவியின் வீரக் கோலம் கண்டு
பயந்தான் “இவளை நான் வெல்வேனா?” என.

“அபயம் அளிக்கின்றேன் அசுர வீரரே – உமக்கு
அபாயம் இல்லை பாதாளம் சென்று விட்டால்!”

சினம் கொண்டான் நிசும்பன் இது கேட்டு.
சிங்கத்தைத் தாக்கினான் தன் உடைவாளால்

தடுத்தாள் தேவி தன் கதாயுதத்தினால்;
அடித்தாள் நிசும்பனைப் பரசுவால்,

தொடர்ந்தது ஒரு கடும் போராட்டம்;
நடந்தது நீண்ட நெடிய காலத்துக்கு.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

5#30a. The fall of Nisumban (1)

Nisumban had decided to “Do or Die” in his mission. He shot arrows on the Devis. Maha Shakti laughed and told kaali,” Even after witnessing the death of so many valiant asuraas, he thinks that he can defeat us!”

She covered Nisumban with a screen of arrows and Nisumban tore open that screen of arrows. Devi’s lion entered among the asuraas as a lion entering among a herd of elephants.

Nisumban decided to do away with Kaali first before defeating Mahaa Shakti. He was wonder struck by the valor and beauty of the Mahaa Shakti and doubted for the first time “Will I be able to defeat this brave Devi?”

Devi took pity of the foolish asuraa warriors and spoke to them, “I shall give you abhayam. You all may sill live if you agree to go back to paataalam.”

Nisumban’s ego was aroused and he attacked Devi’s lion with his sword. Devi stopped his blow with her mace and hit him with her parasu. A terrific war ensued and continued for a very long time.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

9a. மூவாயிரவர்.

அழிந்தான் அக்கினி முகன் போரில்!
விழுந்தான் சூரபத்மன் ஆறாத்துயரில்!

கேட்ட மாத்திரத்தில் சூரனின் மகன்கள்
கோட்டையை அடைந்தனர் மூவாயிரவர்.

“நூறாயிரம் வீரர்களுடன் கூட ஒன்பது
பேராண்மையாளர்களும் வந்திருக்க,

தீமுகன் ஒருவனை மட்டும் போருக்கு
நீ அனுப்பியது சரியா கூறு தந்தையே!

வலிவுடையவனையும் ஒன்றாகி விட்ட
மெலிவுடையவர் வெல்வார் அன்றோ?

வருந்தி மனம் கலங்க வேண்டாம் நீ!
இருக்கின்றோம் இன்னமும் பல வீரர்.

எண்ணங்கள் நிறைவேற வேண்டுமா?
எங்களைப் போருக்கு நீ அனுப்பு.”

துன்பம் ஒழிந்தான் சூரபத்ம அவுணன்.
தன் மக்கள் மூவாயிரவர் மொழிகளால்.

புனைந்தனர் போர்க்கோலம் அனைவரும்;
பூண்டனர் அணிமணிகள் மலர் மாலைகள்.

கடல் என அரவம் எழுப்பி நடந்தது படை;
களத்தைச் சென்றடைந்தது விரைவில்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
