DEVI BHAAGAVATAM - SKANDA 5

5#21a. சும்ப, நிசும்பர்கள் (1)

‘ஜனமேஜயனே! விரும்புகின்றாய் மேன் மேலும்
மனமொன்றி தேவியின் லீலையைக் கேட்டிட.

சும்பன் நிசும்பன் ஆவர் கொடிய அரக்கர்;
சொந்தம் உண்டு அண்ணன் தம்பி என்று.

அகம்பாவிகள், முரடர்கள், வலியவர்கள்.
ஆண்களால் கொல்ல முடியாதவர்கள்.

படை பலம் மிகுந்த அசுர சகோதரர்களின்
இடைவிடா விளையாட்டுத் துன்புறுத்துவது.

மாயாவி அசுரர்கள் இவர்களின் தளபதிகள்;
மாயப் போர் புரிந்து மாய்த்தனர் சாதுக்களை.

சண்டன், முண்டன், குரூரன், ரக்த பீஜன்
தாமிர லோசனன் அழிந்தனர் தேவியால்.

சும்ப, நிசும்பர்கள் வந்தனர் பூவுலகுக்கு
வம்பு செய்திட - பாதாளத்தில் இருந்து.

இருந்தனர் புஷ்கர க்ஷேத்திரத்தில் அவர்கள்;
புரிந்தனர் கடும் தவம் பிரமனைக் குறித்து.

உருண்டோடின பதினாயிரம் ஆண்டுகள்
மறந்தனர் அன்ன, பான, நித்திரைகளை!

மகிழ்ந்தான் பிரமன் கடும் தவத்தால்
நெகிந்து வந்தான் அன்னத்தின் மீதேறி.

“வேண்டும் வரம் கேளுங்கள்!” என்றதும்
“வேண்டும் எமக்கு அழிவில்லாத தேகம்.

கொடியது அனைத்திலும் மரண பயம்;
கொடிய பயத்தைப் போக்கி அருள்வீர்.”

வியந்தான் விரும்பிய வரத்தினால் பிரமன்!
விளக்கினான் காலத் தத்துவத்தை பிரமன்!

5#21a. Sumbhan and Nishumban (1)

Sage Vyaasaa was pleased that Janamejayan wanted to listen to more of Devi’s leelaas. He related the tale of Sumbhan and Nishumban now.

“Sumbhan and Nishumban were two mighty and wicked asuraas. They were brothers. They could not be killed by any male member. They had a large army under their control and their favorete past time was terrorizing good people.

They had several asuras well versed in Maayaa tricks a his generals. Chandan, Mundan, Krooran, Raktha Beejan, Taamralochanan were a few of his generals who had to get killed by Devi herself.

Sumbhan and Nishumban came to the earth from the Paataala. They resided near Pushkara kshetram and did severe penance on Brahma for ten thousand years. They did not eat or drink or sleep. Brahma was very pleased with their severe penance and appeared om front of them.

He wished to give them the boon they wanted. Sumbhan and Nishumban wished for this boon, “Make us immortal Oh Lord! There is nothing more terrorizing than the fear of death. Remove that fear from our minds please!”

Brahma was stunned to hear this. He explained to them the Time Factor and how it controls the lives and life spans of everyone and everything.

2b. வருணன்

கோரன், உற்கோரன் என்னும் ஒற்றர்கள்
சூரபத்மனின் ஆணைப்படிச் சென்றனர்;

விரைந்து கொணர்ந்தனர் வருணனை;
சூரபத்மன் முன் நிறுத்தினர் வருணனை.

வருணனைச் சினந்தான் சூரபத்மன்,
வருணன் நடுங்கித் தொழுதான் அவனை.

“சிவன் மகனையும், சேனையையும்
எவன் ஆணைப்படி அனுமதித்தாய்?”

“தேவர்கள் ஊர்திகளில் விண்வழிச் செல்ல,
பூதர்கள் சென்றனர் என்னுடல் மீது நடந்து;

விண்ணிலும், மண்ணிலும் செல்பவர்களை
என்னால் எங்கனம் தடுத்திருக்க முடியும்?

நொந்த உடலுடன் நானே வருந்தி இருக்க
வெந்த புண்ணில் வேல் பாய்ச்சாதீர்கள்.

ஆழம் காணமுடியாதவன் என்ற பெருமை
பாழாகிவிட்டதை அறிவீர் அண்டர்கோனே!

உள்ளங்கையில் அகத்தியரைப் போலவே
அள்ளி எடுத்துக் குடித்துவிடுவர் என்னை.

இடியேற்றைப் பாம்பு ஒன்று விலக்குமோ?
மடங்கலை ஆனை ஒன்று அடக்குமோ?

சூழும் ஊழினைத் தூய அறிவு வெல்லுமோ?
சூழும் படையினைத் தடுக்கவும் இயலுமோ?”

ஒற்றர்கள் சிலர் ஓடி வந்தனர் அப்போது .
கொற்றவனிடம் கூறினர் செய்திகளை;

“திருமால், நான்முகன், தேவர்கள் சூழ
முருகன் வந்துள்ளான் பூதப் படையுடன்”

“அழைத்து வாருங்கள் பானுகோபனை!
ஆவன செய்வோம் நாம் விரைந்து!”

4 # 2B. VARUNAN TAKEN TO TASK.

Soorapadman sent Goran and Urgoran to fetch Varunan immediately. He chided Varunan for letting Murugan and his army cross the ocean.

Varunan trembled in fear and replied thus, “The Devas flew on their vaahanams. Their army marched on my watery body. How could I have stopped their march?

I am already suffering physically! Please do not make my mind also suffer. I was proud that I was unfathomable, but I lost my pride today. They would have picked me up in their palms and drunk me like the sage Agasthya.

How can a serpent fight a thunderbolt? How can an elephant fight a ferocious lion? How can intellect conquer fate? How can I stop that invincible army?”

Some messengers came running and reported the arrival of Murugan THE SON OF SIVA accompanied by the other Devas and the army of demons.

Soorapadman ordered them to fetch Bhaanukoban immediately.

12d. தருமதத்தர்

பிறந்திருந்தான் பிரமன் தருமதத்தனாக;
பிறந்திருந்தனர் சித்தி, புத்தி மகள்களாக.

“விரைந்து வந்த காரணம் என்ன?” என்று
வினவினான் மன்னன் தருமதத்தரிடம்.

“காசியபர் குமாரர் மகோற்கடருக்கு நான்
நேசிக்கும் மகள்களை திருமணம் செய்திட”.

அரசன் மகிழ்ந்தான் இம்மொழி கேட்டு
அனுமதி தந்தான்,” அங்கனமே ஆகுக!”

“நல்ல நண்பர்கள் உன் தந்தையும் நானும்;
செல்ல மகள்களை ஏற்று அருளவேண்டும்.”

புறப்பட்டனர் இருவரும் செல்வதற்கு;
எதிர்ப்பட்டனர் இரு அசுரர் அழிப்பதற்கு.

கழுதை உருவில் வந்த காம, குரோதர்
புழுதியில் புரண்டு சண்டை இட்டனர்.

மூச்சு முட்டியது அனைத்து மக்களுக்கும்!
தீச்செயலைத் தடுத்து விட்டார் மகோற்கடர்.

புல்லை இரண்டாகக் கிள்ளி ஏவினார்;
பொல்லா அரக்கர் வீழ்ந்து மாண்டனர்!

குண்டன் வந்தான் மதயானை வடிவில்
ஆண்டவனைத் தாக்க முயன்றான் அவன்.

வாலைப் பற்றிச் சுழற்றி அடக்கிவிட்டு;
மேலேறி அமர்ந்தார் யானை முதுகில்.

விரட்டி ஓடச் செய்ததில் களைத்துப் போய்
நுரை கக்கி வீழ்ந்து மடிந்தது மதயானை.

12d. Dharmaduttar

Brahma was born as Dharmaduttar and Siddhi Devi and Buddhi Devi as his two daughters. The king asked him, “What makes you come here in a great hurry?”

Dharmaduttar replied, “I want to marry my two loving daughters to Mahorkadar – the son of Kashyapa.” The king of Kasi was pleased to hear this and accepted that alliance.

Dharmaduttar told Mahorkadar, “Your father and I are good friends. You must accept my two lovely daughters as your wifes” They left to go to Dharmaduttar’s home.

Two asuras Kaama and Krodha came in the form of donkeys. They fought terribly in the street creating clouds of dust and suffocating the citizens.

Mahorkadar took a leaf of grass and split it into two halves. He threw them at the asura with asthra prayogam and they fell dead. Gundan came in the form a mad elephant. He tried to lift Mahorkadar in his trunk.

But Mahorkadar grabbed his tail and swirled him round and round until he was subdued. Then he sat on the neck of the elephant and made him run all over the place until he foamed in his mouth and fell down dead completely exhausted.

5#21b. சும்ப, நிசும்பர்கள் (2)

“உலகியலுக்கு மாறான வரம் தர இயலாது!
உலகில் பிறந்தவைகளுக்கு உண்டு அழிவு.

காலத் தத்துவத்தை மாற்ற இயலாது;
காலத் தத்துவத்துக்குட்பட்ட என்னால்!

சிந்தித்தனர் சகோதர்கள் வெகு நேரம் – நிர்
பந்தித்தனர் இந்த வரம் தர பிரமதேவனை.

“உண்மையே உம் கூற்று படைப்புக் கடவுளே!
மண்ணில் பிறந்தவற்றுக்கு உண்டு மரணம்.

நேரக் கூடாது எமது மரணம் இவற்றால்;
தேவர், மனிதர், மிருகங்கள், பறவைகள்.

வர வேண்டும் மரணம் ஒரு பெண்ணால்!
தர வேண்டும் இந்த வரத்தை நீர் எமக்கு!

எந்தப் பெண்ணுக்கு இருக்கும் ஆற்றல்
எம்மைக் கொன்று குவிப்பதற்கு?” என

அருளினான் கோரின வரம் பிரமன் – மறைந்து
அருளினான் மீண்டும் அன்ன வாஹனம் ஏறி.

சென்றனர் தம் இருப்பிடம் சும்ப, நிசும்பர்கள்;
நன்னாள் ஒன்றில் அமர்ந்தனர் அரியணையில்.

உணர்ந்தனர் இனி நம் கை ஓங்குமென்று,
இணைந்தனர் அசுரர் சும்ப, நிசும்பரோடு!

ரக்தபீஜன், தாம்பரன் வந்தனர் படையுடன்
ரக்தபீஜன் பெற்றிருந்தான் ஓர் அரிய வரம்.

சிந்திய ரத்தத் துளியிலிருந்து விளைவான்
சிறந்த வீரன் அவனைப் போன்றே ஒருவன்.

ரத்தமே பீஜமாகி அசுரர்களை விளைவிப்பதே
ரக்தபீஜன் என்ற விநோதப் பெயர்க் காரணம்.

5#21b. Sumban and Nisumban (2)

Brahma told Sumban and Nisumban, “I can not give a boon against the Law of Nature. Everything created will get destroyed some day. I myself am bound by Time Factor. So I can’t bend the all binding Time Factor to suit your needs”

The two brothers Sumban and Nisumban pondered over this statement for time and saw the truth in it. They told Brahma, “What you say is true Oh Brahma Deva! Whatever is born will have to die.

But please grant us this boon that we will not get killed by Deva or Manushya or birds or animals. If at all, we may die in the hands of a woman. We know that no woman will dare to cross swords with us!”

Brahma granted them that boon and disappeared from there. The brothers Sumban and Nisumban returned to their abode and sat on the throne on an auspicious day.

The asuraas realized that under their combined leadership a great future awaited the asurass. So they joined hands with Sumban and Nisumban.

Raktabeejan and Taamralochanan came to them with their own armies. The asuraa clan became stronger day by day. Raktabeejan had a rare ability. From every drop of blood he sheds, there will appear a might asura as great as himself.

The drops of blood acted as seeds and produced more asuraas. That was the reason for his unusual name Raktabeejan.

3a. முதல் நாள் போர்.

பானுகோபன் அரண்மனையை அடைந்து
பானுகோபன் அடியினைப் பணிந்தனர்;

சூரபத்மனின் ஆணையைக் கூறினர்;
சூழ்ந்தனர் அமைச்சர்கள், தளபதிகள்;

பலவித போர்க்கருவிகள் ஒலித்திட
பல தெருக்களைக் கடந்தான் அவன்;

“அழைத்த காரணம் என்ன கூறுவீர்!”
அழைத்த தந்தையை வினவினான்;

“தாரகனைக் கொன்ற சிறுவன் முருகன்
போர் புரிய வந்துள்ளான் நம் நகருக்கு!

திருமால், நான்முகன், இந்திரன் கூட
சிறுவனுடன் வந்துள்ளனர் சமருக்கு.

சிறியவர்களோடு சென்று பொருதல்
சிறுமை அளிக்கும் என் போன்றவர்க்கு.

பூதப்படையிடம் சென்று அவர்களை
சேதப்படுத்தி வருவாய் போரில் வென்று!”

தந்தை சொல் கேட்டு மிக மகிழ்ந்தான்
விந்தையாகத் தோள்கள் வளர்ந்தன.

“எந்தையே என் கடன் பணி செய்வது.
தந்தேன் தேவர்களைச் சிறைப்படுத்தி!

சிந்தை மகிழும்படி அவர்களுக்கு நீர்
விந்தையான தண்டனைகள் தரலாம்!”

4 # 3a. The war on the first day.

The messengers reached Bhaanukoban’s palace. They paid their obeisance to him and conveyed their message.

Immediately the generals got their army ready for the war. The minsters stood ready to give advice. Many war drums were played and they crossed many streets to reach Soorapadman’s palace.

“Sire! Why did you wish to see me?” Bhaanukoban demanded his father.

“The boy who had killed Taarakan and Krounjan has come here to wage a war. Vishnu, Brahma and Indra are with him now. Fighting with a mere child will tarnish my image. I want you to go and defeat them and come back to me victoriously.”

Bhaanukoban beamed with happiness. His shoulders swelled up seeking to fight the war. He replied,

“Sire ! It is my duty to please you. I shall capture all the Deva and bring them here. You may give them any punishment your heart fancies.”

12e. சிரம்பை

சிரம்பை தூமட்சனின் மனைவி;
உரைத்தாள் சாபம் சினத்துடன்;

“தூமாட்சனைக் கொன்ற சிறுவனை
ஏமாற்றிக் கொல்லாது விடமாட்டேன்!”

அழகிய அந்தணப் பெண் வடிவெடுத்தாள்;
பழகியவள் போல வந்தாள் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு.

கொண்டு வந்திருந்தாள் தன்னுடன்
எண்ணையில் விஷங்களைக் கலந்து.

“காசிபரின் குமாரர் வந்துள்ளதைக் கேட்டு
ஆச்சாரியாரின் மகனைக் காண வந்தேன்.

குமாரனைக் காண்பது ஒப்பாகும் அந்தக்
குமாரனின் தந்தையைக் காண்பதற்கு.

பாலகனுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்யும்
பாக்கியம் வேண்டி வந்துள்ளேன் நான்.

பரிமளம் வீசும் வாசனைத் திரவியங்கள்
நிரம்பிய தைலம் கொண்டு வந்துள்ளேன்.

எண்ணை ஸ்நானம் செய்விப்பதற்கு நீர்
என்னை அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும்” என்றாள்.

அறியவில்லை தருமதத்தர் சிரம்பையை;
அறிந்து கொண்டார் மகோற்கடர் அவளை.

மணையில் வந்து அமர்ந்தார் மகோற்கடர்.
மனத்தில் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தாள் சிரம்பை.

விஷம் கலந்த எண்ணையைத் தடவிவிட
விஷம் ஏறியது அவள் விரல்கள் வழியே!

ஆபத்து இல்லை மகோற்கடருக்கு;
ஆபத்து விளைந்தது சிரம்பைக்கு!

கெடுவான் கேடு நினைப்பான் என்பார்கள்.
கொல்ல வந்தவளைக் கொன்றது விஷம்.

42e. Sirambai

 Sirambai was Dhoomaakshan’s wife. She swore that she would avenge the death of her husband and kill the boy who had killed him. She transformed herself into a beautiful Brahmin lady.

She went to the ashram of Dharmaduttar. She had brought with her a deadly mixture of oil and poisons. She spoke to Dharmadutar,

” I heard that sage Kahsyap’s son has come here. I came to see him. Seeing him is equal to to seeing his father the sage Kashyap himself. I want to do some service to the lad. I have brought with me the oil mixed with fragrant substances. Please allow me to bathe the boy with my own hands”

Dharmaduttar did not realize her real idea behind this offer but Mahorkadar knew her real scheme. He sat on the wooden plank and Sirambai started applying the poisoned oil.

The poison entered her own body through her fingers and she fell dead. No harm happened to Mahorkadar.

5#21c. ரக்தபீஜன்

வெல்பவர் இல்லை ரக்த பீஜனை எதிர்த்து;
கொல்பவர் இல்லை ரக்தபீஜனை எதிர்த்து.

படை சேர்ந்ததும் பலம் கூடி விட்டதால்
படை நடந்தனர்; வென்று சூறையாடினர்.

கைப் பற்றினர் இந்திரனின் சுவர்க்கத்தை;
கைப் பற்றினர் இந்திரன் சொத்துக்களை.

கற்பகச் சோலையில் பானம் அருந்தினர்,
கற்பகத் தரு காமதேனு கை வசப்பட்டன

குபேரனை விரட்டிக் கொள்ளையடித்தனர்;
குற்றேவல் செய்வித்தனர் திக் பாலகரை.

சூரிய, சந்திரர் அடி பணிந்து விட்டனர்
சும்ப, நிசும்பர்கள் இட்ட கட்டளைக்கு!

ஓடி ஒளிந்தனர் தோற்ற அரசர்கள்;
ஒளிந்து வாழ்ந்தனர் தோற்ற அமரர்.

சுவர்க்க லோகம் பறிபோய் விட்டது;
சுவர்க்க போகம் கனவாகி விட்டது!

அஞ்சி வாழும் வாழ்வு நிலைபெற்றது;
தஞ்சம் அடிந்தனர் அமரர் காடுகளில்!

தஞ்சம் அடைந்தனர் குஹைகளில்!
மிஞ்ச முடியாத போது அஞ்சுவதே கதி.

5#21c. Raktha Beejan

Nobody could conquer Raktha beejan nor kill him. The asuras united under Sumban and Nisumban. They became so powerful that they set out to conquer the Heaven and the earth. THe went to Swarggam and conquered Indra.

The grabbed all the wealth belonging to Indra and heaven. They drank in the Karapagach cholai and took control over Kaamadhenu and Karpaga vruksham. They drove away Kuberan from ALagaapuri and looted his wealth.

The Ashta dik paalakaas were reduced to the status of slaves. Even Sooryan and Chandran obeyed the commands of the asuraas now.

The kings on earth who were defeated went into hiding. The Devaas who were defeted lived in caves. They lost their swarggam and all the comforts of swarggam. When one can not face the enemy the only path left is to go into hiding.

3b. போருக்குப் புறப்பாடு.

மாளிகையை அடைந்தான் பானுகோபன்;
தோள்கள் துடிக்கப் போரினை விழைந்தான்.

வெற்றித் திருமகளை வணங்கி முதலில்!
வெற்றிக் கழல்கள் பூட்டினான் கால்களில்.

உடைவாளைச் சொருகினான் இடையில்;
உடல் மூடியையும் அணிந்து கொண்டான்;

முதுகில் தாங்கினான் அம்புக் கூட்டத்தை;
புதுமையான பட்டம் அவன் நெற்றியில்.

படைக்கலங்கள் சுமந்தான் போருக்கு.
படைவீரர்கள் புடை சூழச் சென்றான்;

பதினாயிரம் வெள்ளம் அவுணர்கள்;
பதினாயிரம் வெள்ளம் கரி, பரி, தேர்;

முப்பதாயிரம் குதிரைகள் பூட்டிய தேரில்
அப்பழுக்கு இல்லாத அந்த பானுகோபன்;

போருக்கு அவுணர்கள் புறப்பட்டதும்
முருகனிடம் விரைந்து நாரதர் சென்றார்.

“தூதுவர் மூலம் செய்தி அறிந்த சூரன்
பாதுகாவலுடன் அனுப்பினான் மகனை;

அனைத்து தேவர்களையும் வென்றவன்,
அனைத்து மாயங்களையும் கற்றவன்;

வெல்ல இயலாது அவனைப் பிறரால்!
செல்ல வேண்டும் போருக்கு நீங்களே!”

4 # 3 b. To the war front.

Bhaanukoban went to his palace. He was eager to fight the war. He worshiped the Goddess of Victory. He put on the veerak kazhal on his ankles.

He wore his sword in his waist. He wore the body kavasam. The arrows filled the quiver on his back. He wore a decoration on his forehead.

He left surrounded by his army of ten thousand veLLam of asuras, ten thousand VeLLam of horses, elephants and chariots. He rode a chariot drawn by thirty thousand horses.

Narada rushed to meet Murugan and told him thus:

“Soorapadman got the news through his messengers. He has sent his son Bhaanukoban with a huge army. His son has conquered all the Deva.

He knows all tricks of the war. No one can conquer him but you. You must go to the war front in person”.

12f. திருமணம்

திருமண ஏற்பாடுகள் நடத்தினார் தருமதத்தர்.
திருமணம் நடந்தது பந்து மித்திரர் சாட்சியாக.

காசிராஜன் கலந்து கொண்டான் ஆர்வமாக;
ஆசீர்வதித்தனர் முனிவர்கள், பெரியோர்கள்.

அரசகுமாரனின் மணம் பற்றிய ஆலோசனை;
அஞ்சினர் அமைச்சர்கள் நராந்தகனை எண்ணி.

“வைரியாக எண்ணுகின்ற நராந்தகன் நமக்கு
வரிசையாகத் துன்பம் தந்தான் விடாமல்.

முறியடித்தது மகோற்கடரின் திருவருள்.
முயற்சி செய்வான் மீண்டும் தீங்கிழைக்க!

திருமணத்துக்குத் தடங்கல்கள் செய்வான்;
ஒருமுறைக்கு இருமுறை ஆலோசிக்கவும்!”

அரசனுக்கு ஒப்புதலே இந்த அறிவுரைகள்;
ஆயினும் நோக்கினான் மகோற்கடரை.

“திருமணம் நடக்கட்டும் நிச்சயித்தபடி;
நெருங்கியது இறுதிநாள் நராந்தகனுக்கு.”

அமைச்சர்களின் அச்சம் மெய்யானது.
அசுரர்கள் மூவர் வந்தனர் அன்றிரவே.

பெருங் காற்றாகி வீசினான் விதாரணன்.
நொறுங்கி விழுந்தன மாட மாளிகைகள்!

அக்னி வடிவில் பரவினான் ஜ்வாலாமுகன்
தீக்கரங்கள் தழுவின நகர் முழுவதையும்.

அல்லல்பட்டு ஓடினார்கள் உயிர் காத்திட!
தொல்லைகள் இவை போதாது என்பதுபோல

வாயிலில் அமர்ந்த அசுரன் வியாக்கிரமுகன்
வாயைத் திறந்து வருபவரை விழுங்கினான்.

குழப்பம், கூச்சல் நீடித்தது நகர் முழுவதும்

42f. The Wedding

The wedding of Mahorkadar with the two daughter of Dharmaduttar took place in a grand manner. Rushis and sages blessed the newly weds. Kaasi Raajan participated with great enthusiasm.

The king discussed about his son’s wedding, but the ministers were afraid of the enmity of Naraantakan. “He considers us as his enemies and he gave us a lot of troubles. Mahorkadar saved us from them. He is sure to create more problem in the future. Please reconsider your decisions”

The king thought this was good advice and looked at Mahorkadar. But he said, “The marriage can take place as planned. Naraantakan’s end is nearing fast!”

The fear of the ministers proved to be true. That night three asuras came to Kasi. VidaaraNan blew as a stormy wind shaking the buildings and gopurams and making them collapse.

Jwaalaa mukhan spread in the city as fire. The scared people ran for their lives. Vyaagra mukhan sat with his mouth wide open near the city gates and swallowed the people as they came out running.

Kaasi Raajan was at his wit’s end. He rushed to meet Mahorkadar.

5#21d. காலத் தத்துவம்

ஞாலம் செய்யாததைக் காலம் செய்யும்;
ஞாலம் வசப்பட்டு நிற்கும் காலத்துக்கு.

காலம் மாற்றிவிடும் தலை கீழாக எதையும்;
காலம் மாற்றிவிடும் முன்னுக்குப் பின்னாக.

வாழ்ந்தவன் வீழ்வான் காலம் மாறினால்;
வீழ்ந்தவன் வாழ்வான் காலம் மாறினால்!

அனுபவிக்க வேண்டும் சுக துக்கங்களை
அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும் காலம் அதற்கு.

அரசனை அற்பனாக்கும் காலத் தத்துவம்;
அரசனாக்கும் அற்பனைக் காலத் தத்துவம்.

பலவானைப் பலவீனன் ஆக்கும் காலம்;
பலவீனனைப் பலவான்ஆக்கும் காலம்.

வறியவனை வள்ளல் ஆக்கும் காலம்
வறியவன் ஆக்கும் வள்ளலைக் காலம்

சூரனைப் பேடி ஆக்கும் காலத் தத்துவம்;
சூரனாக்கும் பேடியைக் காலத் தத்துவம்.

மூடனை அறிவாளி ஆக்கும் காலம்;
மூடனாக்கும் அறிவாளியைக் காலம்.

அறநெறியாளனைப் பாவியாக்கும் காலம்;
அறநெறியாளனாக்கும் பாவியைக் காலம்.

அஸ்வமேத யாகங்கள் செய்த இந்திரனை
அஞ்சி குகையில் தஞ்சம் புகச்செய்தது காலம்.

பிரமன் முதலிய தேவர்களுக்கு இந்த கதி!
உரைக்க வேண்டுமா காலத்தின் சக்தியை?

5#21d. The Time Factor.

“The Time Factor binds and controls everything in creation. Time can change things upside down or inside out. The flourishing persons may perish and the perishing persons may flourish.

We have to experience the joys and sorrows as they come. But we have to wait till the Time factor allows that to happen. We can neither speed up not slow down the predetermined happenings.

A Prince may become a pauper and a pauper a prince. A strong man may become a weakling and a weakling a strong man. A poor man may become prosperous and a prosperous man poor.

A valorous man may become a knock-kneed person and a knock kneed person become valorous. A fool may become wise and a wise man a fool. A just man may become unjust and an unjust man just.

Indra had performed one hundred yagnas to become the king of swarggam and yet the Time Factor made him live hiding in a cave. If this is the plight of Devaas and Gods, need I elaborate on the power of Time Factor any more?”
 
KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

3c. வீரவாகு.

நாரத முனிவர் நவின்ற சொற்களை
மாறாத நகையுடன் கேட்ட முருகன்;

வீரவாகுத் தேவரை அழைத்தான்!
சூரபத்மன் மகன் பற்றிக் கூறி விட்டு,

“நூறாயிரத்து எட்டு மள்ளர்களுடனும்
ஓராயிரம் வெள்ளம் பூதப் படையுடன்

அவுணர்களைப் போரில் வென்று நீ
அவனியை மகிழ்விக்கச் செல்வாய்!”

முருகனிடம் விடைபெற்றார் வீரவாகு!
மேருவை நிகர்த்த வில்லை ஏந்தினார்.

அணிந்தார் அழகிய உடல் மூடியை.
அணிந்தார் முதுகில் அம்பறாத் துணி.

பூத மள்ளர்கள் புடை சூழ்ந்தனர்.
பூதத் தலைவர்கள் படை நடத்தினர்.

பூத மள்ளர்கள் ஆற்றல் மிக்கவர்
பூவுலகைத் தோளில் தாங்க வல்லவர்

கூற்றுவனை வெல்லும் ஆற்றலும்,
மற்றும் சிவந்த சடையும் உடையவர்.

படைக்கலங்கள் இலங்கும் கையினர்.
படை நடப்பதில் விருப்பம் உள்ளவர்.

மாயங்களில் கற்றுத் தேர்ந்தவர்
ஆயாசம் இன்றிப் போர் செய்பவர்.

போர்க்கருவிகள் இசைத்து முழங்க
போர்க்களத்தை நோக்கி நடந்தனர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

4 # 3 c. Veerabaahu.

Murugan listened to the words of Narada with a smile. He called Veerabaahu and told him, “Take with you 100,008 soldiers and one thousand vellam of demons to vanquish Bhaanukoban in today’s war”

Veerabaahu got ready for the war. His bow resembles the huge Mount Meru. He wore his protective armor. He fixed his quiver. The army surrounded him in order to go with him.

The army consisted of very strong warriors. Each of them could lift the earth on his shoulder. Each of them could conquer even Yama. They were red haired and bore various arms and asthrams.

They were experts in Maya techniques. They all marched to the beat of the war drums towards the battle field.
