#11e. Bitten by the love bug!

Padmaavati’s friends went straight to the Queen DharaNi Devi and paid their respect. The Queen knew that something was wrong – since the girls were unusually quiet and looked very serious. Padamaavati was not to be seen among them!

The girls told their Queen, “Today a strange young man had entered our flower garden. He said that he was chasing a mad elephant and it had led him to our garden. The elephant ran away when he shot an arrow on it.

But he stayed on there and was teasing and taunting our princess. We threw stones at him and he went away. A tremendous change has come over the princess now!”

The queen ran to her daughter. Padmaavati was sitting staring vacantly. She neither saw her mother approaching her nor heard the words spoken by her.

She was thinking over her own strange behavior during the day! ‘I never think of doing any harm to anyone. Then why did I behave so rudely towards that young man? He was a very smart and handsome and certainly was not mad !’

The Queen removed the effects of the evil eyes by doing drushti parihaaram. She smeared the holy ash on the forehead of the princess but they were of no use. Padmaavati would neither eat well nor sleep well.

Kula guru Sage Sugar advised the King and the Queen, “Please perform abhishekham in the Siva temple situated in the aashram of Sage Agasthyaa and sprinkle that holy water on our princess. She would become her normal self once again.”

The King sent eleven pundits well versed in Veda to perform the aaraadhanaa in the Siva temple situated in the aashram of Sage Agasthya near the royal nanda vanam.

6#7a. நகுஷன் (1)

வைகுந்தம் சென்று விட்டான் விஷ்ணு பிரான்;
வஞ்சித்து விருத்திரனை இந்திரன் கொன்றபின்.

வருந்தினான் செய்த பாவத்தை எண்ணி, எண்ணி!
வருந்தினர் முனிவர்கள் நடுநிலைமை தவறியதால்.

வருந்தினான் துவஷ்டா விருத்திரனை எண்ணி;
பொருமினான் இந்திரன் செய்த துரோகத்தை எண்ணி.

துவஷ்டா மனு துடித்தான் புத்திர சோகத்தால்;
துவஷ்டா மனு சபித்தான் இந்திரனை பலவாறு!

செய்த வினைப் பயனைத் துய்தே ஆக வேண்டும்
செய்தவன் தேவனோ, மனிதனோ அன்றி அசுரனோ!

பிரகாசம் குன்றி விட்டான் இந்திரன் – இப்போது
புறக்கணித்தனர் மற்ற தேவர்கள் இந்திரனை.

“துரோகம் செய்தான் நல்ல நண்பனுக்கு” என்று
தூற்றினர்; பிரம்ம ஹத்தியை இகழ்ந்து பேசினர்.

இழந்தான் புகழை, இழந்தான் உறவுகளை;
இழந்தான் களையை, இழந்தான் அமைதியை!

அமைதி இருக்காது பாவம் செய்தவர்களிடம்;
அவமதிப்பர் உற்றார், உறவினர், மற்றோர்.

இந்திராணி கேட்டாள் “என்ன கவலை உமக்கு?”
இந்திரன் கூறினான் தான் இழந்தவற்றை எல்லாம்.

புனித நீர் நிலையாகிய மானசரோவர் சென்றான்;
புகுந்தான் தாமரைத் தண்டினுக்குள் சூக்ஷ்மமாக.

தனியன் ஆகிவிட்டான்; சக்தி இழத்து விட்டான்;
இனி எவரையும் காண விரும்பவில்லை அவன்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

6#7a. Nahushan (1)

Vishnu went back to Vaikuntham after Indra killed Viruthraasuran by treachery. Indra was ashamed of his own actions. The rushis felt guilty for playing unfair to the all-trusting Viruthraasuran. Thvashta could not forgive Indra nor forget Viruthraasuran. He cursed Indra with seething anger.

A person must suffer the consequences of his actions – whether he is a Devaa or an Asuraa or a Manushyaa. Indra lost his glories and became pathetic looking and lack luster.

The other Devaas avoided him now. They spoke ill of him as a betrayer of a good friend and a treacherous king. His brahmahatthi took away his powers, beauty and peace of mind. IndraaNi was troubled to see her husband suffer thus.

Indra shared his sorrows with her. He decided to remain invisible to everyone. He went to Manasarovar and hid himself in the stem of a lotus plant there. He did not want to face or communicate with anyone any more.

2c. முசுகுந்தன்.

முன்னாளில் திருக்கயிலையில் சோலையில்
அன்னையும், ஐயனும் அமர்ந்து இருந்தனர்.

வில்வ மரங்களில் வசித்து வந்தது;
நல்ல முசுக்களின் பெருங்கூட்டம் ஒன்று.

ஆண் முசு ஒன்று இவர்கள் இருவர் மீதும்
ஆர்வத்துடன் சொரிந்தது இலைகளை.

இறைவி இதைத் தொல்லை என்று எண்ண ,
இறைவனோ வழிபாடாக ஏற்றான் அதனை.

இறைவியின் சினம் தீர்ந்து அவள் அருளிட
இறைவன் அளித்தான் மெய்யறிவினை.

அறிவு பெற்ற ஆண் முசு இறங்கி வந்தது!
அறியாமையை மன்னிக்க வேண்டியது!

“குற்றம் அல்ல நீ அறியாமல் செய்தது!
குற்றமற்ற வில்வத்தால் பூசை செய்தாய்.

மனுவின் மகனாகப் பிறந்து வளர்ந்து
மண்ணுலகத்தை அரசாள்வாய் நீ!”

இனிய இந்தச் செய்தியைக் கேட்டு
இன்பம் அழிந்து துன்பம் எய்தியது.

“அழியாத பேரின்பத்தோடு இங்கிருந்து
தொழுகின்ற நல்வினையை இழந்து

அழிகின்ற செல்வ வலையில் அகப்பட்டு
அழிவேனோ உய்யும் வழியினை நான்?”

“ஆண்டு அனுபவித்த பின்னர் நீயும்
மீண்டு வருவாய் என்னிடம், வருந்தாதே!”

“பொய்யுடம்பில் மயங்காதவாறு என்னை
அய்யா இந்த முகத்துடனே படைப்பீர்களா!”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

5#2c. Muchukundan.

Siva and Uma were sitting in a nandavanam in Kailash. There were many vilva trees there. Groups of monkeys lived on these trees. One male monkey kept plucking the vilva patrams one by one and throwing them down on Siva and Uma.

Uma got irritated by this act. Siva accepted it as a form of worship. He blessed the monkey and gave him true knowledge.

The enlightened monkey came down from the tree and begged for pardon for disturbing them. Siva smiled and said,

“You don’t have to ask for pardon since you have not committed any mistake. You have worshiped us with the pure vilva patram. May you be born as the son of a Manu and become the ruler of the world.”

Instead of becoming happy the monkey became very sad and said,

“I do not wish to leave your presence and go to the earth even to become the ruler of the world. I may get intoxicated by the wealth and power and forget you”

“Do not worry. You will come back to me after ruling well for a long period” promised Siva.

The monkey made a strange request, “Sire! Can you make me be born with this monkey face, so that I will never fall a prey to the earthly pleasures?”

12. பத்மாவதி யார்?

விடியலில் எழும் ஸ்ரீனிவாசன் அன்று
வெகுநேரம் வரையிலும் எழவில்லை.

வேட்டையாடின களைப்பு என்று எண்ணி
விட்டு விட்டாள் அவனை வகுளமாலிகை.

விழித்துக் கொண்டு விருதாகப் படுத்திருந்தான்;
எழுப்பினாலும் எழவில்லை மஞ்சத்திலிருந்து.

என்ன நடந்தது என்று பலவாறாகக் கேட்டும்,
என்ன நடந்தது என்று சொல்லவே இல்லை.

“எவள் மீதாவது மோஹம் கொண்டாயா?” என,
“எப்படிக் கண்டு பிடித்தீர்கள் அம்மா?” என்றான்!

“நீராடி உணவருந்திய பின் கூறு என்னிடம்,
நீ கண்ட பெண்ணைப் பற்றிய விவரங்களை!”

“காட்டில் வேட்டையாடும் போது நான் கண்டேன்
காட்டு யானை ஒன்று மதம்கொண்டு திரிவதை!

மனிதர்களுக்குத் தீங்கு செய்யுமோ என்றஞ்சி
கனத்த காட்டுக்குள் விரட்டி விட முயன்றேன்.

மலைச் சரிவில் இறங்கி ஓடியது மதயானை.
மலர் வனம் ஒன்றில் புகுந்தது அம்மதயானை.

நாராயண புரத்தை ஆட்சி செய்யும் மன்னன்
ஆகாசராஜனின் விசேஷ மலர்வனமாம் அது.

மன்னன் மகள் இருந்தாள் தன் தோழியருடன்;
மனதைப் பறிகொடுத்துவிட்டேன் கண்டவுடன்!

விருப்பத்தைத் தெரிவித்தேன் நான் அவளிடம்;
விரட்டி விட்டாள் என்னைக் கல்லால் அடித்து .

எங்கெங்கு நோக்கிலும் தெரிவது அவள் முகமே!
எங்கள் திருமணம் நடக்குமா அம்மா?” என்றான்.

“மணம் செய்ய விரும்புகிறாய் பத்மாவதியை.
குணம் கொண்டவளா உனக்கு ஏற்றவாறு?”

“அறிய மாட்டாய் நீ அவள் யார் என்பதை!
அறிவேன் நான்! கூறுவேன் உனக்கும்!”

#12. Who is Padmaavati?

Srinivaasan used to get up from bed very early in the morning. On that day he did not get up at the usual hour. VaguLa Maalikaa thought that he was tired after his hunting expedition and did not disturb him.

But he lay wise awake and deep in thoughts. She asked him what was the matter but he kept mum. Finally she lost her patience and asked him, “Have you fallen in love with some sweet maiden?”

Srinivaasan’s face brightened and he asked her quite surprised,”How did you find it out mother?” She told him, “Take your bath, eat your food and then tell me all about that girl”

Srinivaasan told her the events of the previous day in detail. “I saw a mad elephant on rampage in the forest. I tried to chase it back into the deep jungle. But it started running towards Naaraayana Puram and entered a garden meant for the princess and her friends.

I too entered the garden. I saw the princess Padmaavati and fell in love with her at the very first sight. I told her my love. She drove me away from there after pelted me with stones by her friends. I can see only her face wherever I look. Will our marriage ever take place mother?”

“So you want to marry princes Padmaavati? Are you sure she has a good nature to suit your own nature?” He replied,

“Mother! you do not know anything about princess Padmaavati. I know everything about her and I shall tell you now!”

6#7b. நகுஷன் (2)

பொய்த்தது மழை; வறண்டன நீர் நிலைகள்
காய்ந்தன பயிர்கள், நிலவியது கடும் பஞ்சம்.

பாழடையும் தலைவன் இல்லாத ஒரு வீடு;
பாழடையும் தலைவன் இல்லாத ஒரு நாடு!

தேவேந்திரப் பதவி இருக்கலாகாது காலியாக;
தேவை அதை அலங்கரித்திட நல்ல மன்னன்.

தேர்வு செய்தனர் தர்ம சீலன் நகுஷனை ;
தேவேந்திரன் ஆக்கிவிட்டனர் நகுஷனை;

நல்லாட்சி செய்தான் நகுஷன் – நாட்கள்
செல்லச் செல்லப் பெருகியது அகந்தை

விரும்பினான் இந்திராணியைக் காண்பதற்கு;
விரும்பினான் இந்திராணியை அடைவதற்கு!

“இந்திரப் பதவியில் நான் அமர்ந்த போதே
இந்திரனின் சொத்துக்கள் என் சொத்துக்கள்.

வரவில்லை சசி தேவி இன்னமும் என்னிடம்;
வரச் செய்யுங்கள் விரைவில் என்னிடம்!’ எனத்

தலையைக் குனித்து சென்றனர் சசிதேவியிடம்,
தலைக் குனிவு வந்து விட்டதை எடுத்துரைக்க.

திடுக்கிட்டாள் துயருற்றாள் இது கேட்ட சசி,
சடுதியில் சரண் அடைந்தாள் குலகுருவிடம்.

“காக்க வேண்டும் என் கற்பைக் குலகுருவே!
ஏக்கம் கொண்டுள்ளேன் கணவன் பிரிவினால்.”

“அஞ்சற்க தேவி! நகுஷனை எண்ணி நீ!
தஞ்சம் புகுந்த உன்னைக் கை விடேன் நான்.

வராது ஆபத்து உந்தன் கற்பு நெறிக்கு;
வரும் ஆபத்து விரைவில் நகுஷனுக்கு!”

6#7b. Nahushan (2)

The rains failed; the water bodies dried up; the crops withered and there was a famine. A house will be ruined without the householder to care for it and a country will be ruined without a ruler to care for it.

“The throne of Indra should not remain vacant for long. We have to crown a good king on earth as the new Indra. The Devaas decided thus an chose Nahushan to become the new Indra.

He was duly made the king of heaven on an auspicious day. At first Nahushan ruled well and justly. But as the days rolled by he became proud and arrogant. He wanted to see Sasi Devi. He wanted to possess Sasi Devi.

He told the Devaas, “The moment you crowned me as the new Indra, everything that was Indra’s now belongs to me. Why is that I have not yet met Sasi Devi? Please arrange to send her to me soon!”

The Devaas were crestfallen but there was nothing they could do now. They went to Sasi Devi and conveyed this message. Sasi Devi was shocked to hear this demand and ran for protection to Bruhaspati the Deva guru.

She cried and said, ” I am sad separated from Indra. Now Nahushan wants to have me as a companion. Please protect me and my virtue. I am helpless now!”

Bruhaspati consoled her and said, “Do not worry Oh Queen. I will not let any harm befall you. You will be safe but Nahushan’s end is neaRing very fast.”

2d. குரங்கு முக அரசன்.

திருக்கயிலையை நீங்கியது அந்த முசு.
அரிச்சந்திரனின் வழித் தோன்றலானது.

பிறந்தது குரங்கு முகத்துடன் ஆயினும்
சிறந்தது அழகில், பிற உறுப்புக்களால்.

முசுவின் முகத்துடன் பிறந்த மன்னன்
முசுகுந்தன் என்று பெயர் பெற்றான்.

அரசு செலுத்தினான் கருவூரிலிருந்து.
சூரபத்மனுக்கு அஞ்சி அடிபணிந்தான்.

ஆறுமுகன் சூரனை வென்ற செய்தி
அளித்தது அளவற்ற மகிழ்ச்சியை.

தேடி வந்தனர் அவனைத் தூதுவர்கள்.
சேதி கூறினர் அமர்களின் அரசனின்.

“உற்றார் சுற்றத்துடன் நீடு வாழ்வாய்!
மற்றொரு செய்தியும் மகிழ்ச்சி தருவது.

திருப் பரங்குன்றத்தில் எழுந்தருளிய
திரு முருகனுக்கு திருமணம் நாளையே.

தேவர்கோன் அளிக்கின்றான் தன் பரிசாக,
தெய்வயானையை, வளர்ப்புப் பெண்ணை.

திருமணம் காண வரவேண்டும் நீர்!
திருப் பரங்குன்றம் சுற்றம் புடைசூழ.”

5#2d. The King with a monkey face.


The monkey left Kailash and was born in the lineage of Harischandra. He was born with a monkey face but was very beautiful in his other features. He was named as Muchukundan since he was monkey-faced.


He ruled from Karoor. He was a subordinate of Soorapathman. He was very happy to hear that Soorapadman was vanquished by Murugan.


The messengers came to him. They conveyed the good news of the wedding between Murugan and Devayaani. He was invited to attend it along with his family and friends.

13a. வேதவதி

திரேதா யுகத்தில் இலங்கேஸ்வரன்
திரிலோக சஞ்சாரம் செய்து வந்தான்.

இமாலயச் சாரலில் கண்டு மோஹித்தான்
அமானுஷ்ய அழகுடைய ஒரு சுந்தரியை.

வேதவதி என்ற அந்தக் கன்னிகைக்கு
வேதவாக்கு ஆகும் தந்தையின் சொல்.

மகாவிஷ்ணுவை வரித்தாள் தன் மணாளனாக;
ஹிமாச்சலத்தில் செய்து வந்தாள் கடும் தவம்.

நெருங்கினான் வேதவதியை இலங்கேஸ்வரன்.
விரும்பினான் அவள் அழகை அனுபவிப்பதற்கு!

“பரந்தாமனை வரித்துவிட்டேன் மணாளனாக!
பரபுஷர்களுக்கு இடமில்லை மனதில்” என்றாள்.

“பரந்தாமனுக்கு இளைத்தவனோ இந்த ராவணன்?
பரமசுகமாக வாழலாம் என்னை மணந்துகொண்டு!”

வேதவதி ஏற்கவில்லை இந்தக் கோரிக்கையை.
வேண்டாம் என்றால் விடுபவானா இராவணன்?

தலைக்கு ஏறிவிட்ட மோக வேகத்தில் – அவள்
தலை மயிரைப் பற்றிக் கொண்டு சூளுரைத்தான்.

“அடையாமல் ஓயமாட்டேன் நான் விரும்பியதை!”
அடிபட்ட பெண் நாகமாக மாறிவிட்டாள் வேதவதி.

“கேசத்தைத் தீண்டி அதை மாசு படுத்திவிட்டாய்!
கேசவனுக்கு உகந்தது அல்ல அது இனிமேலும்!

திடமனத்தோடு தவம் புரிந்துவந்த வேதவதியின்
இடக்கையே மாறி விட்டது ஒரு கூரிய கத்தியாக!

கேசத்தையே துண்டித்து விட்டாள் இடக் கையால்!
மோசமான எண்ணத்தை அது மாற்றிவிடவில்லை.

திடுக்கிட்டான் ராவணன்; மனம் தளரவில்லை;
தடுத்ததால் மேன்மேலும் வளர்ந்தது காம ஜுரம்.

#13a. Vedavati

In Treta yugam RaavaN used to travel in all the three worlds. One day he saw an unusually beautiful maiden on the slopes of Himalaya and felt his lust surging in him.

The maiden was Vedavati. She had decided to marry Vishnu as desired by her father. She was doing severe penance towards her goal, on the slopes of Himalaya.
RaavaN approached her but she refused bluntly saying, “I have decided to marry Vishnu and there is no place for any other person in my life!”

RaavaN felt insulted and asked her. “How am I inferior to your Vishnu? If you marry me you can live in pure bliss.” But she was adamant in her decision. RaavaN was not to be put off so easily. He was used to getting everything he set his mind on.

He pulled her by her hair and said, “Nothing will stop me from enjoying what my heart desires!” Vedavati became wild like a wounded serpent and said,

“You have touched my hair and made it unfit for Vishnu. I have no need for it any more!” Her left hand transformed into a sharp knife by the power of her penance. She cut off her hair touched by Raavan, using her left hand as a knife.

RaavaN was shocked to see this but it did not deter him from his determination. In fact his desire to possess her became more than it was before.

6#8a. நகுஷனின் மோஹம்

செய்தி அறிந்தான் நகுஷன் இது குறித்து;
செய்கின்றான் தடை தேவகுரு பிருகஸ்பதி!

ஆத்திரம் கொண்டான் நகுஷன் அளவின்றி;
ஆத்திரம் தருபவனைக் கொன்று விட்டால்?

சமாதானம் செய்தனர் தேவர்கள் நகுஷனை;
“மகாபாவம் பிறன் மனைவியை விழைவது.

கணவன் உயிரோடு இருக்கையில் காரிகை
கற்புடன் இருக்க விரும்புவது இயற்கை.

மூன்று உலகங்களை ஆளும் மன்னன் நீ
தோன்றுவதை எல்லாம் செய்யலாகாது!

தேவ கன்னிகைகள் உள்ளனர் ஏராளம்;
தேவி இந்திராணி போன்றவர் அழகில்!

தேடிச் செல்ல வேண்டாம் கற்புக்கரசியை;
கூடி மகிழுங்கள் விரும்பும் கன்னியுடன்!”

சிரித்து விட்டான் நகுஷன் இதைக் கேட்டு
“சரியான அறிவுரை அல்லவே கூறுவது!

கூடி மகிழ்ந்தான் அகலிகையுடன் இந்திரன்;
கூறவில்லை அது தவறு என ஒருவரும் கூட;

போதனை செய்வீர்கள் தாராளமாகப் பிறருக்கு
போதனையைப் பின் பற்ற மாட்டீர்கள் நீங்கள்.

இந்திரப் பதவியில் இருப்பவன் நானே – என்னை
இந்திராணி கூடுவதில் தவறு எதுவும் இல்லை!

இணங்கச் செய்யுங்கள் என் விருப்பத்துக்கு;
பிணங்கினால் கொணருங்கள் பலவந்தமாக!”

6#7b. Nahushan’s anger

Nahushan came to know about this. He became very angry with Bruhaspati for meddling with his private affairs. He flew into a bad temper and wanted to kill Bruhaspati for that.

The Devaas consoled and pacified Nahushn by saying,”It is a sin to covet the wife of another man. Any woman will wish to remain chaste when her husband is still alive. You are the ruler of the three worlds. You can’t be doing whatever you feel like doing.

There are many Deva kanyaas as beautiful as IndraaNi Devi. Choose the one you like most and enjoy with her. Do not trouble our queen IndraaNi any more”

Nahushan broke into peals of laughter on hearing this. “This is not the advice you would have given to Indra. He enjoyed with Ahalya Devi and none of you dared to point out to him that it was wrong. You advise the others but you will not follow your own advice.

I am the Indra now. She is the wife of Indra. There is nothing wrong in her choosing me as her husband. Bring her here. If she refuses bring her here by sheer force”.

Nahushan was very specific in his instructions about IndraaNi Devi.

2e. அற்புதம் நிகழ்ந்தது!

மட்டற்ற மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தான் மன்னன்,
கட்டியணைத்தான் இந்திரனின் தூதுவரை;

“என்ன பரிசு கொடுப்பேன் உங்களுக்கு?
என் அரசையே பரிசாகத் தரட்டுமா?

“தூதுவர்கள் நாங்கள்; அறிவீர் நீங்கள்;
ஏதும் எமக்குத் தேவை இல்லை மன்னா!

விரைந்து திருமணத்துக்குச் செல்வதே
விழைந்து நீர் செய்யும் பேருதவி ஆகும்!”

நகர மக்களுக்குச் செய்தி அறிவித்தான்;
நகர மக்களும் உடன் புறப்பட்டனர்.

திருமணம் காண விழைந்தவர்களுக்கு
முருகன் அருளால் அற்புதம் நிகழ்ந்தது!

ஊமைகள் பேசினர் சொல்வன்மையுடன்;
ஊனர்கள் பெற்றனர் உடல் உறுப்புக்கள்.

குருடர்கள் பெற்றனர் கண் பார்வை!
செவிடர்கள் பெற்றனர் செவிச்செல்வம்.

திருப்பரங்குன்றத்தை அடைந்தனர்.
திருமண மண்டபத்தை அடைந்தனர்.

விண்ணில் இயங்குகின்ற கோள்களும்,
மண்ணுலகைக் காக்கும் திக்பாலகரும்,

தேவமகளிரும், முனிவர் மனைவியரும்,
தெய்வயானையைப் போற்றி வணங்கினர்.

5#2e. Attending the Wedding.

The king became very happy and hugged the messengers. He wanted to reward them appropriately. They wished for nothing except that he and his countrymen make haste to attend the wedding of Murugan.

The news spread and every one got ready to attend the wedding. Miracles happened to those who wished to see the God’s wedding.

The dumb were able to talk; the lame regained their limbs; the blind were able to see and the deaf were able to hear.

They all left for Parankundram and reached the wedding mandapam. The nine planets, the eight Dikpaalakaas, the apsaras and rushi patnis praised the bride.

13b. வேதவதியின் சாபம்

அண்டம் குலுங்க நகைத்தான் ராவணன்;
கொண்டது விடா முதலையும், மூர்க்கனும்!

“மந்திர, தந்திரப் பிரயோகங்கள் என்னிடத்திலா ?
தந்திரங்களில் பெயர் போனவன் இந்த ராவணன் !”

மீண்டும் நெருங்கினான் வேதவதியை ராவணன்;
மீண்டும் தியானித்தாள் வேதவதி பரந்தாமனை;

வேதவதி ஒரு புனிதவதி அதனால் அங்கு
வேகமாக வளர்ந்தது அக்கினி ஒரு தடுப்பாக.

திகு திகு என்று எரியத் தொடங்கியது அது
திகில் அடைந்த அபலையைக் காப்பதற்கு.

வரவழைத்தான் ராவணன் வஜ்ஜிராயுதத்தை.
எரியும் தீயை அணைக்க முயன்றான் அவன்.

‘கற்பைக் காத்துக் கொள்ள இருக்கும் ஒரே வழி
கயவன் தொடுமுன் உயிரை விடுவதே ஆகும்!’

“காமத்தால் கண்ணிழந்து விட்ட அரக்கனே!
காமம் நிறைவேற அனுமதிக்க மாட்டேன்!

விடுவேன் என்னுயிரை எரியும் தீயில் குதித்து;
விடாது என்றும் இந்தப் பாவம் உன் குலத்தை!

பழி தீர்க்கும் உன்னை என்றாவது ஒருநாள்!
அழிவாய் நீயும் உன் குலமும் ஒரு பெண்ணால்!”

சாபம் இட்டாள்; குதித்தாள் அந்த நெருப்பில்
சாபம் வீண் போகவில்லை பலித்தது பிறகு.

சீதையிடம் கொண்ட விபரீத மோஹமே
சீரழித்துவிட்டது அவன் வம்சத்தினையே1

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

#13b. The curse!

RaavaN laughed so that the whole world trembled. A crocodile would never would let go of its price catch nor a fool his pet theory.

“You are exhibiting the power of your Maya to me the king of Maya! ” he made fun of Vedavati and went near her again. Vedavati meditated on Vishnu and prayed for protection. A barrier of fire appeared in between them immediately.

It burned with high flames. RaavaN could not go near her. He summoned his Vajraayudam and tried to put off the barrier of fire in between them.

Vedavati realized that that the only way to escape from this lusty demon was to give up her body to the flames instead of to him.

She cursed him,” You are blinded by your lust. I will never let you touch me body. I will rather offer it to this fire. This sin committed by you will never let you live in peace. It will surely punish you. You and your race will be destroyed by a woman.”

She jumped into the roaring flame. Her curse came true since Raavan and his race were completely destroyed by his unjust lust towards Sita.

6#8b. இந்திராணி தேவி

செய்வது அறியாத தேவர்கள், முனிவர்கள்,
சென்றனர் மீண்டும் குரு பிருஹஸ்பதியிடம்.

“தஞ்சம் புகுந்துள்ள இந்திராணி நகுஷனைக்
கொஞ்சி மகிழ்வதில் என்ன தோஷம் கூறும்?”

“இந்திரனாக வந்தவன் அனுபவிக்கலாம் இங்கு
இந்திர போகங்களை எல்லாம் விருப்பம் போல.

அனுபவிக்க முடியாது பிறன் மனைவியை மட்டும்;
அனுமதிக்காது தர்மம் இந்தப் பாவத்தை மட்டும்!

சரண் புகுந்துள்ளாள் தன் கற்பைக் காத்துக் கொள்ள;
முரண் பட்டாகிலும் காப்பாற்றுவேன் சசி தேவியை!”

“நகுஷன் கோபக்காரன்; துஷ்டனாகி விட்டான்.
நகுஷன் இழைப்பான் பல தீமைகளை நமக்கு!

அபாயம் நீங்க வேண்டும் எனில் செய்வோம்
உபாயம் ஒன்று இந்திராணியின் உதவியுடன்.

நடிக்க வேண்டும் இந்திராணி நகுஷனிடம் சென்று;
நடிக்க வேண்டும் அவனுக்கு இணங்குவது போல!

“தடையில்லை உம்மை அடைவதில் எனக்கு- என்
உடையவனின் நிலைமையை அறிந்திட வேண்டும்!”

காலக் கெடு விதிக்கட்டும் இந்திராணி – அந்தக்
கெடுவுக்குள் கண்டு பிடிப்போம் இந்திரனை.

சென்றாள் இந்திராணி நகுஷனைத் தேடி,
நின்றாள் மனம் நிறைய அச்சத்துடன் கூடி.

ஞாலம் கருதினும் கைக் கூடுவது எப்போது?
காலம் கருதி இடத்தால் செய்யும் போது!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
