13e. உயிர்ப்பித்தல்

தாயை நினைவு கூர்ந்தான் சூரபத்மன்.
மாயை தோன்றினாள் கண்முன்னே!

“நிகழ்ந்த போரில் படைகள் அழிய
நிற்கின்றேன் நான் தனி ஒருவனாக;

இறந்தவர்கள் உயிர் பெற்று எழுந்திட
இயம்புவாய் ஒரு நல்ல உபாயம்!”

“பெரும்புறக் கடலின் அருகே உள்ளது
இறந்தவர்களை உயிர்ப்பிக்கும் மலை.

அமுதசீதமந்திரகூடத்தைக் கொணர்ந்தால்
அழிந்த அவுணர்கள் உயிர் பெற்றெழுவர்.

தாயின் சூழ்ச்சியால் மகிழ்ந்த சூரன்
மாயவள் கூறிய ஔஷத மலையைக்

கொண்டு வரும்படிப் பணித்தான் தேரை!
கொண்டு வந்தது மலையை அந்தத் தேர்.

உயிர்பெற்று எழுந்தனர் அவுணர்கள்.
உயிர்பெற்று எழுந்தன கரிகள், பரிகள்,

உயிர்பெற்று எழுந்தான அரிமாக்கள் .
உயிர் பெற்று எழுந்தனர் அரிமுகன்,

தீ முகன், பானுகோபன், வஜ்ஜிரவாகு,
அதிசூரன், அசுரேந்திரன், தருமகோபன்.

அனைவரும் கூடினர் சூரபத்மன் அருகே.
அனைவரும் தொடங்கினர் போர்த்தொழிலை.

கை தட்டிக் குதூகலித்தான் முருகன்
மெய் சோர்ந்து தளர்ந்தனர் தேவர்கள்.

4 # 13. e. The resurrection.

Soorapadman thought of his mother Maayaa. She appeared before him. He requested her, “I have lost all my army and I am all alone now. Please tell me a way of bringing back to life everyone who had got killed in the war so far”

Maayaa replied, “There is a mountain beyond the sea, called Amutha seetha mantharakoodam. It can resurrect the dead people and animals. If you can bring it over here, the entire army will come back to life”

Soorapadman became very happy. He ordered his chariot Indragnaalam to bring the mountain. The chariot went away and brought the mountain with it.

The entire army came back to life! All the warriors, all the horses, elephants, lions, as well the heroes Singamukhan, Agnimukhan, Bhaanukoban, Vajrabaahu, Athisooran, Asurendran and Dharmagopan.

They all assembled near Soorpadman. They started to fight the army of demons. Murugan who was pleased with this new developments, clapped his hand and smiled. The Devas lost all hope and became downhearted!

7b. நாரணன் சாபம்

கோபத்தோடு எழுந்தார் நாரணன் புற்றிலிருந்து
கோடரி பிளந்த நெற்றியில் வழிந்தது ரத்தம்!

தரையில் விழுந்து நமஸ்கரித்தான் அரசன்,
“உரையுங்கள் தேவதேவா! நிகழ்ந்தது என்ன?”

கண்ணீர் விட்டுக் கதறினான் சோழராஜன்,
செந்நீர் வழிய நின்றிருந்த நாரணனிடம்.

“வைகுந்தம் விடுத்து வையகம் வந்த பின்னர்
வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றேன் நான் இந்தப் புற்றில்!

தெய்வப் பசு வந்து சுரக்கும் பாலை எனக்காக;
செய்வது ஏதென்று அறியவில்லை இடையன்.

கோடரியால் தாக்க வந்தான் பசுவினை – எனக்குக்
கோடரி வெட்டு அடாத செயலைத் தடுத்ததற்கு!”

“ஏய்க்கிறது பசு என்று எண்ணினான் அவன்,
துய்க்கிறது இறைவன் என்று அறியவில்லை!

சாந்த மூர்த்தியான தாங்கள் கோபம் விடுத்துச்
சாந்தம் அடைய வேண்டும் லோக ரக்ஷகா!”

“புற்றில் பால் சுரந்த உடனேயே அவனது
சிற்றறிவுக்கு எட்டி இருக்கவேண்டும் இது!

புற்றில் உள்ளது ஏதோ விசேஷம் என்பது.
குற்றமே இடையன் கோடரியை வீசினது!”

அத்தனின் உக்கிரம் குறையவில்லை – மன்னன்
எத்தனை கெஞ்சினாலும் மாறவில்லை கோபம்!

“குடிமக்கள் செய்யும் பாவம் சேரும் சென்று,
குடிமக்களை ஆளும் அரசனையே என்றும்!

யோசியாமல் இடையன் செய்த தவற்றுக்குப்
பைசாசமாக மாறித் திரிவாய் நீ வனங்களில்!”

சாபம் இட்டார் அப்பாவிச் சோழமன்னனுக்குச்
சாந்த மூர்த்தியாகிய சத்துவ குண நாரணன்.

#7b. Naaraayan’s curse

Naaraayanan got up from the anthill in great anger. His forehead was bleeding profusely - split by the axe. The Chozha king got bewildered by this sight. He fell at God’s feet and cried begging him to tell him what had happened there!

“After coming down from Vaikuntham I live in this anthill. The celestial cow gives me milk .The foolish cowherd wanted to attack the cow with his axe. I tried to stop his atrocity and got struck by him instead of the cow.

The king told Naaraayanan , ” The cowherd thought that the cow was cheating him of its milk. He did not know that it was you who enjoyed the milk. You are famous for your satva gunam. Please give up your anger and become your usual self”

“When the cowherd saw that the cow showered its milk here in the anthill, he must have guessed that it was for a special purpose. What he did is wrong and is unpardonable.”

No amount of begging and pleading had any effect on Naaraayanan. He spoke in anger to the Chozha king thus,

“The sins committed by the citizen get attached to the king who rules them. The sin committed by this foolish cowherd is now your sin. You will roam the jungles and forests as a ghost for this sin.”

The God famous for his satva gunam cursed the good natured Chozha king in this manner!

6#1c. அப்சரஸ்களின் தோல்வி

“கர்வம் ரூபலாவண்யத்தில் கொண்டுள்ளீர்!
சர்வம் செய்ய வல்ல உருவம் கொண்டுள்ளீர்!

தவம் புரிகின்றான் திரிசிரன் மிகத் தீவிரமாக;
தவம் பலித்தால் பறிபோகும் என் அரச பதவி.

விரையுங்கள் திரிசிரனின் தவச் சாலைக்கு;
கலையுங்கள் தவத்தைக் காமச் சுவையால்.

அபாயம் நேராமல் சுவர்க்கத்தைக் காத்திட
சகாயம் செய்யுங்கள் தேவப் பெண்களே!”

“அஞ்ச வேண்டாம் அமரர்களின் அரசனே!
கொஞ்சமும் சந்தேகம் கொள்ள வேண்டாம்.

திரிசிரனை மயக்குவது கடின வேலையா?
திரிசிரன் திரிவான் மோஹ வெறி கொண்டு!

வசப்படுத்தி விடுவோம் அவனை எளிதாக;
இசைவான் தவத்தை விடுத்துக் காமத்துக்கு.”

சென்றனர் திரிசிரன் அமர்ந்திருந்த இடம்.
முயன்றனர் தவத்தைக் கெடுத்து மயக்கிட.

பாடல், ஆடல், சிருங்கர சேஷ்டைகள்
பலன் தரவில்லை இவற்றில் எதுவுமே.

பூரணமாக லயித்திருந்தான் தவத்தில் திரிசிரன்;
ஆரணங்குகளின் முயற்சி தோற்றது பரிதாபமாக.

பாடல்கள் விழவில்லை செவிடன் செவிகளில்;
ஆடல்கள் விழவில்லை அந்தகன் கண்களில்!

முயன்றனர் சளைக்காமல் மேலும் மேலும்;
முயன்று முயன்று தோல்வியே அடைந்தனர்!

6#1c. The defeat of the Apsaras

Indra told the Apsaras, “You are very proud of your beauty and charms. You have lovely figures which can disturb any saint. Trisiran is doing severe penance. If he succeeds in his penance, he will displace me from my place in heaven.

Please proceed immediately to Trisiran and disturb his penance by arousing his lust. You can save the swarggam and me by doing that favor.”

The Apsaras replied, ” Forget your worries oh king Indra. Disturbing Trisiran will be an easy job for us. He will be chasing us instead of his penance in a very short time. He will agree to enjoy pleasure rather than pursue his tapas.”

The Apsaras went to the place where Trisiran was doing penance They exhibited all their talents in singing, dancing and other provocative activities. But Trisiran remained unperturbed and immersed in tapas.

Their songs fell on a deaf man’s ears and their dances fell on a blind man’s eyes. They kept trying more and more until finally they had to give up!

13f. மீண்டும் போர்


மீண்டுவந்த அவுணவீரர்கள் உடனே
மீண்டும் தாக்கினர் முருகக்கடவுளை!

பாசுபதக் கலத்தை முருகன் எடுத்தான்;
ஆசுரர்கள் மீது அதை அவன் விடுத்தான்.

“அரிமுகன் முதலிய அவுணரை எல்லாம்
அழித்து வருக !” என ஆணை இட்டான்.

கொடிய பாம்புகள், நஞ்சு , ருத்திரர,
இடிக்கூட்டம், பூதங்கள் வெளிப்பட

விரைந்து சென்றது பாசுபத அஸ்தரம்
விரைந்து கொன்றது அவுணர் குழுவை.

உயிர் பெற்று மீண்டு வந்த அவுணர்கள்
உயிர் துறந்தனர் மீண்டும் ஒரே நொடியில்!

உயிர் கொடுக்கும் ஔசத மலையும்
உடைக்கப்பட்டது பொடிப் பொடியாக.

தான் தனியன் ஆனது போல் முருகனைத்
தனியனாக ஆக்க வேண்டும் அல்லவா?

“முருகனைச் சூழ்ந்துள்ள படைகளை
ஒருவர் விடாமல் கவர்ந்து செல்வாய்!”

ஆணையிட்டான் சூரன் இந்திர ஞாலத்திடம்.
ஆணையை நிறைவேற்றியது அந்தத் தேர்.

உலகத்தில் கவர்ந்த பூதப் படையை
உலகின் உச்சியில் கொண்டு வைத்தது.

“நன்று! நன்று!” என நகைத்தான் சூரன்;
“வென்று கொணர்க இந்திரஞாலத்தை!” என

முருகன் விடுத்தான் கணையை விரைந்து.
திரும்பக் கொணர்ந்தது தேருடன் வீரரை!

“சூரபத்மன் அழிவது உறுதி ” என்றதும்
சூரபத்மனிடம் செல்லவில்லை இந்திரஞாலம்.

முருகக்கடவுளின் அருகே சென்று நின்றது
விருப்பத்துடன் அந்த இந்திரஞாலத் தேர்!

4 # 13. f. The war is resumed.

The asura army which was brought back to life by the oushada giri, resumed the war with Murugan. The Paasupatha asthram was shot by Murugan on the asura army with the command, “Destroy the army of Asura”

The asthram sped emitting poisonous snakes, poisonous fumes, Rudras, thunderbolts and demons. It destroyed the army resurrected in a single moment. It shattered the medicinal mountain to pieces. Soorapadman stood all alone by himself again.

He decided to make Murugan also a lone warrior. He commanded his chariot “Take far away the entire army of Murugan!” The chariot took away all the warriors to the top of the world and held them there.

Sooran was very pleased with his plan. Murugan shot an arrow and commanded it to bring back safely his entire army. The arrow reached the top of the world and brought back the chariot with the army inside it.

When the chariot knew that the end of Soorapadman was near, it did not go back to him. Instead it stayed near Murugan on it own free will.

7c. சாப விமோசனம்

“பிரஜைகளின் தவறுகள் சேரும் அரசனையே!
குறைப் படவில்லை கிடைத்த சாபத்துக்கு நான்.

கூறுவீர் சாப விமோசனம் என்ன என்பதை;
கூறுவீர் சாபவிமோசனம் பெறும் வழியை!”

“திரிவாய் பிசாசாக மாறி மிகுந்த ஆயுளில்;
பெறுவாய் பெருமை நீ அடுத்த பிறவியில்.

பிறப்பாய் சுதர்மன் மகன் ஆகாச ராஜனாக,
பிறப்பாள் என் மனைவி உந்தன் மகளாக.

நற்கதி அடைவீர் நீயும், உன் வம்சத்தினரும்;
கற்பகாலம் விளங்கும் புகழுடன் உன் பெயர்.”

“சாபமா இது? அரிய வரம் அல்லவோ இது?
கோபத்தின் பரிசாகக் கிடைத்தவை இவை!

வைகுந்தவாசனை அடைவேன் மருமகனாக!
வைபவலக்ஷ்மியை அடைவேன் என் மகளாக!

மன்னித்து விடுங்கள் இடையனின் குற்றதை;
புன்செயல் புரிந்தான் மதியற்ற மடையன்.”

மயங்கிய இடையன் விழித்துக் கொண்டான்
தயங்கித் தயங்கி எழுவதற்கு முயன்றான்.

கண்கள் தெரியவில்லை; பார்வை போய்விட்டது!
கண்ணீர் வழிய அழுதான் “ஆண்டவனே!” என்று.

“தண்டனை அனுபவிப்பான் சிறிது காலம்
கண் மூடித்தனமான செயல் செய்ததற்கு.

நித்தியவாசனாக அமர்வேன் நான் இங்கு;
எத்தினம் இவன் என்னிடம் வருவானோ,

கிடைக்கும் கண் பார்வை மீண்டும் அன்று.
கிடைக்கும் வைகுந்தம் பாவத்தை வென்று!

விண்ணுலகு விட்டு பூமிக்கு வந்தபின்
கண்டீர்கள் என்னை இந்தக் கோலத்தில்.

இதே கோலத்தில் தங்குவேன் இங்கே!”
அதே நொடியில் அந்தர் தியானமானார்.

பைசாச உருவம் தாங்கினான் சோழ ராஜன்
வைகுந்தவாசன் மேல் செய்தான் தியானம்.

#7c. SaApa vimochanam

“The sins of the citizens get attached to their king. I am not sorry for the curse laid by you oh god! Please tell me the saapa vimochanam and how I have to get it”

“You will spend the rest of your lifespan roaming around as a ghost. In the next birth you will be born as Aakaasa Raajan – the son of King Sudharman. My wife will be born as your loving daughter. You and you race will be blessed and your name will be remembered for eons with deep respect.” Vishnu replied to the Chozha king.

The Chozha King was head over heels in happiness to hear this and exclaimed, “Is this a curse? No it is a boon! What is the outcome of your anger? I will get you as my son in law and your wife will be born as my daughter. Please pardon the mistake of the cowherd. He is an illiterate fool.”

The cowherd regained consciousness and tried to get up slowly. But he had lost his power of vision and started crying piteously.

Naaraayan said, “The cowherd has to face the punishment for his wrong deed. He will be blind for some time. I will start to live here for ever as a Nithya vaasan very soon. On the day he comes back to me he will regain his power of vision. His sins will be forgiven and he will gain Vaikuntham.

You have seen me in this state after I left Vaikuntham. So I shall stay here in the same form and figure.” saying these words, Naaraayan disappeared from there.

The Chozha king became a ghost and roamed around but he always remembered and chanted the name of Naaraayanan.

6#1d. இந்திரனின் வஞ்சகம்

பணிந்தனர் தவத்தின் தீவிரத்துக்கு;
துணியவில்லை திரும்பிச் செல்வதற்கு!

தங்கினர் அவன் அருகே பல நாட்கள்.
ஏங்கினர் அவன் கவனத்தை கவர்ந்திட.

பயன் தரவில்லை அழகியர் முயற்சிகள்;
தயங்கியபடிச் சென்றனர் சுவர்க்கலோகம்.

வாடிய முகங்களே பறை சாற்றின – அவர்கள்
ஆடிய ஆட்டம் பயன் தரவில்லை என்பதை.

“தோற்றுவிட்டோம் திரிசிரன் முன்பு நாங்கள்!
போற்றுகின்றோம் அவன் புலனடக்கத்தை.

செய்யுங்கள் வேறு முயற்சி ஒன்று – அவன்
மெய்யான தவத்தைக் கலைப்பதற்கு!

சாபம் வாங்காமல் வந்தது ஓரு பெரிய
சாதனை போல உணருகின்றோம் ” என்று

வெட்கத்துடன் சென்றனர் தேவ மகளிர்.
வெட்கம் இன்றிச் சென்றான் இந்திரன்;

அஞ்சவில்லை பாவச் செயல் புரிந்திட;
‘வஞ்சகத்தால் வெல்வேன் திரிசிரனை!’

பசி வந்தாலே பத்தும் பறந்து போகும் எனில்
பதவி படுத்தும் பாட்டைச் சொல்ல முடியுமா!”

6#1d. The Treachery of Indra

The Apsaras bowed to the power of self control of Viswaroopan. They did not dare to return to swargga without accomplishing their mission. They spent many days at his feet.

They tried their best to grab his attention. But they did not succeed at all. Then they reluctantly returned to the swarggam. Their downcast expression declared to Indra that they had failed in their assignment.

The Apsaras told Indra, “We failed in our mission miserably. We have to praise Viswaroopan’s perfect self control. You may try to disturb him by some other method.

We are glad we came back without incurring his wrath and getting cursed.” The humbled Apsaras went back to their abodes.

Indra had to try a new scheme. He wanted to ruin Viswaroopan by treachery. The ruler-ship of heaven or earth is too dear to be given up so easily or so swiftly.

13g. விற்போர்

திரும்பி வராத தேரைக் கண்டு
தீயைப் போல் சினந்தான் சூரன்.

அம்புகள் சொரிந்தனர் மழைபோல்
அவுண அரசனும், ஆறுமுகனும்!

மின்னும் சூலத்தை எறிந்தான் சூரன்!
விண்வழியே அது விரைந்து சென்றது.

வெளிக்கக்கியது தீ நாக்குகளை!
வெளிப்படுத்தியது இடிமுழக்கங்களை!

வெளிக் கொணர்ந்தது படைக்கலன்களை.
வெளிக் காட்டியது அளவற்ற ஆற்றலை!

குலிசத்தினிடம் ஆணையிட்டான் முருகன்
“சூலப் படையைப் பிடித்து வருக!”

தீயை உமிழ்ந்து விரையும் சூலத்தை
தீண்டிப் பற்றியது முருகன் குலிசம்.

சூரன் அமர்ந்து இருந்த அரிமாவை
ஈராயிரம் கணைகளால் அழித்தான்.

மாறினான் சூரன் ஒரு சக்கரவாளமாக!
சீறி எழுந்தான் விண்ணில் சிறகடித்து!

பறவையைத் துரத்திய முருகன் தானும்
பறவையின் மீது அமர்ந்து கொண்டான்.

மயில் வடிவு எடுத்தான் அமரர்கோன்!
முருகனைத் தாங்கிப் பறந்தான் விண்ணில்.

கைவில்லைக் கறிக்கவந்த பறவையைக்
கைவாளால் இரண்டாகினான் முருகன்!

இந்திரன் முதலிய தேவர்கள் அங்கே
இன்பக் கூத்தாடினார்கள் மகிழ்ந்து!

4 # 13. g. The fight AND THE FLIGHT!

When the chariot Indragnaalam did not go back to Soorapadman, he grew very angry. He showered arrows on Murugan and Murugan showered arrows on Sooran.

Soorapadman threw his trident on Murugan. It sped fast through the sky emitting fire, thunder claps, war weapons and exhibited immense destructive power.

Murugan commanded his kulisam (vajraayutham) , “Go forth, arrest and control the trident” The kulisam hurried and took hold of the fiery trident. Murugan killed the lion on which Soorapadman was seated.

Now Soorapadman changed into a ChakravaaLa bird and took off in the sky. To chase a bird, Murugan needed to ride another bird! Indra took the form of a peacock, carried Murugan on his back and started chasing the huge bird.

When the Sooran-turned-into a giant bird came to bite off the bow of Murugan, he cut the bird into two with his mighty sword. The Deva danced with joy!

8a. வகுள மாலிகை

விடை பெற்றுச் சென்றுவிட்டாள் லக்ஷ்மி!
இடையன் பிளந்தான் நெற்றியைத தாக்கி!

பிருஹஸ்பதி வந்தார் நாரணனைக் காண;
வருந்தினார் நாரணன் படும் துயர் கண்டு.

“கசிகின்றதே நிற்காமல் இன்னமும் உதிரம்!
கசியும் காண்போர்கள் கண்களிலும் உதிரம்!

சேஷாச்சலத்தில் இல்லாத மூலிகைகளா?
ஈசா! தாங்கள் அறியாத வைத்தியமா?” என

மூலிகைத் தேடிச் சென்ற நாரணனை-வகுள
மாலிகை என்னும் மாதுசிரோன்மணி கண்டார்.

ஆதிவராஹரிடம் அதீத பக்தி கொண்டிருந்த
அகவை மிகுந்த ஒரு கண்ணியப் பெண்மணி.

பிளந்த நெற்றியிலிருந்து வழிந்த ரத்தம்
பிளந்தது அவள் நெஞ்சத்தைத் துயரால்.

கொய்து கொண்டிருந்த மலர்களை விடுத்துத்
தொய்ந்து நடந்திருந்த நாரணனிடம் வந்தாள்.

“யாரப்பா நீ? அலைகிறாய் ரத்தக் காயத்துடன் !
யாரும் இல்லையா உன்னைக் கவனிப்பதற்கு?”

கிழித்துத் துடைத்தாள் சேலைத் தலைப்பால்;
பிழிந்து கட்டினாள் மூலிகையின் சாற்றால்.

கள்வர்கள் வழிமறித்துத் தாக்கினார்களா கூறு?
காயம் வந்த மாயம் என்ன சொல்லு!” என்றாள்.

“அம்மா! யாரும் இல்லாத அநாதை நான்
அழைப்பர் என்னை ஸ்ரீனிவாசன் என்று.

பசுவைத் தாக்க முயன்றான் ஒரு பாதகன்;
பசுவைக் காத்தேன்; விழுந்தது ஒரு வெட்டு!”

இதயத்தைத் தொட்டது “அம்மா!” என்னும் சொல்!
இவளும் யாருமில்லாத ஓர் அநாதை அல்லவா?

ஆனந்தக் கண்ணீருடன் நாரணனை அவள் நோக்க,
அகக்கண்கள் திறந்து கொண்டன அதே நொடியில்!

‘தன் எதிரே நிற்பது ஸ்ரீனிவாசன் அல்லவே!
தன் எதிரே நிற்பது ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணன் அல்லவா?’

கண் இமைக்கும் நேரத்தில் கண்ட ஒரு காட்சி
கண் முன் கொண்டு வந்தது பூர்வ ஜென்மத்தை!

8a. VaguLa Maalikaa

Lakshmi left him and went away to earth! On the earth the foolish cowherd broke his crown. Naaraayanan felt miserable. Bruhaspati who visited him felt equally miserable to see his sufferings.

“The mountain Seshaachalam is full of medicinal herbs and surely you know how to use them! Why do you suffer thus oh Lord? The blood is still oozing and my heart bleeds to see you suffer thus” Bruhaspati told Naaraayanan.

Naaraayanan decided to attend to the cut in his forehead and went looking for the medicinal herbs. VaguLa Maalikaa saw this young and handsome man with bleeding wound roaming the forest. She was an old woman and a sincere devotee of the Aadhi Varaaha moorthy.

She kept aside her basket of flowers and approached the young man. She asked him, “Why do you roam around with a bleeding wound in this manner? Is there no one to take care of you?”

She tore the edge of her sari and cleaned the wound. She squeezed out the juice of the herbs and put a bandage on the wound. “How did you get this wound? Did the robbers waylay you?” she asked him.

“I have no one to call my own, oh mother. My name is Srinivaasan. A foolish cowherd wanted to attack a cow with his axe. I intervened and took the blow”

The word “mother!” was like nectar to the ears of this old woman who had no one to call as her own. Tears of joy sprang in her eyes. She looked at Srinivaasan and immediately her gnaana sakshu (inner eyes of wisdom) opened.

Was it Srinivaasan standing in front of her now? No! It was Sri Krishna himself standing there now! This scene which lasted for a split second brought to her the memory of her previous birth.

6#2a. விஸ்வகர்மா

பதவியை இழக்கத் தயார் இல்லை இந்திரன்;
பதவி அடையக் கூடாது திரிசிரன் கைகளை.

சென்றான் திரிசிரனிடம் இந்திரன் ஐராவதம் ஏறி.
கண்டான் திரிசிரனை வீராசனத்தில், தியானத்தில்

பிரகாசித்தான் திவ்வியமான தவ ஒளியுடன்.
பிரகாசித்தான் சூரியன், அக்னியைப் போலவே.

வீசினான் வஜ்ஜிராயுதத்தை இந்திரன் சினத்துடன்;
வீசிய வஜ்ஜிராயுதம் வீழ்த்தி விட்டது திரிசிரனை!

ஆனந்தித்தான் இது கண்ட இந்திரன் – ஆனால்
ஆதங்கம் கொண்டனர் இது கண்ட முனிவர்கள்.

“குற்றமற்ற தவசியைக் கொன்றான் இந்திரன்!
குற்றம் நீங்குமா பிரம்மஹத்தி செய்தவனுக்கு?”

பிரகாசித்தான் அப்போதும் திரிசிரன் முன்போலவே;
பிரமித்தான்; கவலையுற்றான் இதைக் கண்ட இந்திரன்.

“அறுத்து எறிவாய் மூன்று சிரங்களையும் !” என
ஆணையிட்டான் விஸ்வகர்மாவுக்கு இந்திரன்

“வெட்ட முடியாது திரிசிரனை என் பரசுவால்!
வெட்டமாட்டேன் ஒரு நல்ல தபஸ்வியை நான்.

பிரம்மஹத்தி பீடித்தால் நான் என்ன செய்வேன்?”
மறுத்தான் விஸ்வகர்மா தலைகளைக் கொய்திட.

“போருக்கு வந்தவனைக் கொல்லலாம் – ஆனால்
வீராசனத்தில் தியானத்தில் அமர்ந்தவனை அல்ல!

என்ன பலன் கிடைக்கும் இந்தப் பாதகச் செயலால்
எதற்குப் புரியவேண்டும் இந்த பாதகத்தை?’ என்றான்.

6#2a. Viswakarma

Indra was not willing to lose his power and place in swarggam. Trisiran should never usurp his place in the heaven. Indra mounted on his Airaavat and went looking for Trisiran.

TrisiraN was in deep meditation, seated in Veeraasanam and completely lost to the world. Indra was jealous of the brilliant aura Trisiran emitted – earned by the power of the intense penance he was performing.

Indra threw his Vajraayudam and Trisiran fell dead. Indra felt happy and relieved but the sages became sad to watch this unprovoked attack.

“Indra has killed a brahmana and incurred brahma hatthi dosham! He can never get out of the bad effect of this murderous act!” The dead body of Trisiran looked very brilliant and very much alive.

Indra got worried and ordered Viswakarma to cut off the three heads of Trisiran. Viswakarma refused saying, “I can not severe the three heads of Trisiran with my parasu. I can never commit such a crime to a peaceful tapasvi.

I will be afflicted with brahma hatthi dosham if I do. I can kill an enemy in a war but not a brahmanan in deep meditation. What is the use of this atrocity? Why should I oblige you?”

13h. மாய வடிவங்கள்

பல்வேறு வடிவெடுத்து சூரபத்மன்
பார்ப்போர் வியக்கப் போர்செய்தான்.

திக்குகளை மூடிநின்ற உருவத்தை
அக்கணமே அழித்தான் ஆறுமுகன்.

நிலத்தையும், வானையும் இணைக்கும்
நீர் வடிவில் நிமிர்ந்து நின்றான் சூரன் .

நூறு தீக்கணைகளை முருகன் எய்யவே
நீர் வடிவம் நொடியில் மறைந்து போனது.

தீ வடிவெடுத்து நின்றான் சூரபத்மன்;
தீ வடிவை அழித்தது காற்றுக் கணை.

காற்றாக மாறி நின்றான் சூரபத்மன்;
காற்றை அழித்தது பாம்புக் கணை.

நான்கு நாட்கள் தொடர்ந்த போரில்
நானா வடிவங்கள் எடுத்தான் சூரன்.

அவுணர்கள் போல மாறி வந்தான்;
அமரர்கள் போலவும் மாறி வந்தான்;

யமன் போலவும், இந்திரன் போலவும்,
பேயைப் போலவும், தீயைப் போலவும்;

கடலைப் போலவும், காற்றைப் போலவும்,
இடியைப் போலவும்; இருளைப் போலவும்;

முகிலைப் போலவும், நஞ்சைப் போலவும்,
மலையை போலவும், தாரகன் போலவும்,

தீமுகன் போலவும், பானுகோபன் போலவும்,
திரிமூர்த்தி போலவும், தருமகோபன் போலவும்!

ஆறுமுகன் கணைகளைத் தொடர்ந்து செலுத்தி
அழித்துவிட்டான் அத்தனை மாயவடிவுகளையும்!

4 # 13. h. Various deceptive forms of Sooran.

Soorapadman assumed various deceptive forms and fought with Murugan.
He covered all the eight directions by assuming a huge form. Murugan’s arrow destroyed that huge form.

He stood as a giant water pillar from earth to the heaven. One hundred arrows of fire shot by Murugan dried up the form.

Soran stood as a burning fire. The arrow of wind shot by Murugan destroyed it. Sooran became a strong wind. Murugan destroyed it with a snake asthra.

The war went on for four days. Soorapadman took many forms and fought murugan. He came changing himself as the asuras, as the deva, as yama, as Indra, as a ghost, as fire, as wind, as a sea, as pitch darkness and as thunder bolts, as clouds, as poisons, as mountains, as Taarakan, as Agnimukhan as Bhaanukoban, as thrimoorthis and as Dharmagopan.

Murugan destroyed every one of these deceptive forms by shooting arrows.

8b. யசோதை

கலியுகம் பிறக்கும் நேரம் நெருங்கி விட்டது.
காலில் அம்பு தைத்திருந்தது கிருஷ்ணனுக்கு!

செயல் புரிந்தது ராமாவதாரத்தில் – ஆனால்
செயல் பலன் தந்தது கிருஷ்ணாவதாரத்தில்!

வாலியோடு சுக்ரீவன் புரிந்த துவந்த யுத்தத்தில்,
வாலியைக் கொன்றான் மறைந்திருந்த ஸ்ரீ ராமன்.

கோபம் கொண்ட வாலி ராமச்சந்த்ரனுக்குச்
சாபம் அளித்தான் தன் உயிர் பிரியும் முன்.

“மறைந்திருந்து வீழ்த்தினாய் ராமா நீ என்னை!
மறைந்திருந்து வீழ்த்துவான் ஒருவன் உன்னை!”

தனிமையில் வனத்தில் அமர்ந்திருந்த கண்ணனின்
இனிய பாதங்களை ஒரு பறவை என எண்ணினான்.

அம்பு எய்தான் வேடன் சாபத்தை நிறைவேற்ற.
அன்பு கொண்டவர்கள் துடித்தனர் இதைக் கண்டு .

“வைகுந்தம் திரும்புகின்றேன் நான் – நீங்களும்
மெய்யுருவம் அடையலாம் முன் போலவே!

சேஷாச்சலத்தில் உறைவேன் நான் கலியுகத்தில்.
சென்று காத்திருங்கள் என் வருகைக்கு!” என்றான்

விடுத்தனர் கோபியர் தங்கள் மாய உருவங்களை.
எடுத்தனர் முன் போல் தம் பழைய உருவங்களை.

“எப்போதும் உன் அன்னையாகும் பாக்கியத்தைத்
தப்பாமல் எனக்குத் தரவேண்டும் என் கண்ணா!”

யசோதை வேண்டினாள் கண்களில் அருவியுடன்,
யசோதைக்கு அருளினான் அவள் கேட்ட வரத்தை.

வகுளமாலிகையாகக் காத்திருப்பாய் அம்மா!
வெகு விரைவில் வருவேன் சேஷாச்சலத்துக்கு.”
