அசுரன் வதம் முடிந்து திரும்பினர் காசி.
அரசன் நிச்சயித்தான் மணமகளைப் பேசி.
மகத நாட்டு இளவரசியைக் காசிராஜன்
மகனுக்கு நிச்சயித்தான் மண மகளாக.
அழைப்புகள் சென்றன தேவர்களுக்கு;
அழைப்புகள் சென்றன முனிவர்களுக்கு;
அழைப்புகள் சென்றன உறவினருக்கு;
அழைப்புகள் சென்றன நண்பர்களுக்கு.
புரோஹிதர் மகோற்கட முனிகுமாரர்;
புனிதத் திருமணத்தை நடத்தினார் நன்கு.
பிரியத்துடன் அளித்தனர் காசிநகர மக்கள்
பிரியாவிடை மகோற்கடர் திரும்பிச் செல்ல.
காசிராஜன் வந்தான் மகோற்கடருடன்,
காசியபர் ஆசிரமத்தை அடையும் வரை.
ஆசி அளித்தார் இறைவன் காசி ராஜனுக்கு,

#43e. The Wedding
Devaantakan was killed and his atrocities came to an end. Everyone returned to their residing place. Kaasi Raajan fixed the princess of Magada as the suitable bride for his son.
Invitations were sent put to the Deva, the Gods, the rushis, the relatives and the friends of the king of Kaasi. Mahorkadar was the prohit and perforned the wedding grandly.
Now it was time for him to go back to the ashram. All the people bade farewell to him with great affection. Kaasi Raajan accompanied him back to the ashram of Kashypa.
Mahorkadar blessed Kaasi Raajan and everyone else besides. The king of Kasi ruled for a long time. Then he made his son the new king of Kasi. When his time came to an end, he went to swargga in a gold vimaanam along with his wife.

ChaNdan and MuNdan went to meet Devi and Kaali with their large army. They asked Kaali, “Did you dare to come here all alone trusting this young woman and her lion? Can these two match and become equal to the valour and power of Sumban and Nisumban?"
They asked Devi now, “Did you come her because you have eighteen arms? Did you come her because of you arrogance and conceit? Sumbaasuran had severed the trunk of the mighty Airaavat - the elephant of Indra. His might is unlimited.
You sing in a voice which will put to shame the cuckoos. You are very beautiful to look at. And yet you want a war! A war of valour is fought between two male members. The war fought between a male and a female is the war of love.
We have two types of friends those who wish our welfare and those who wish their own welfare. I wish your welfare. So listen to me now. Accept Sumbaasuran as your husband. He is attractive, handsome, brave and the king of the Asuraa clan. ”
Devi could not tolerate this nonsense any more and let out a loud roar similar to the roar of her pet lion.
She said,” I am the Mother of the universe. I support everything here. I do not require a husband or anyone else to give my happiness. In fact every joy and pleasure enjoyed by any living thing is actually enjoyed by me!”

நிகழ்ந்தவற்றை அறிந்தான் பானுகோபன்;
புகழ்ந்து கொண்டான் தன்னைத் தானே !
மகிழ்ந்து நின்றான் தன் சூழ்ச்சியை எண்ணி!
அழிந்து போன பூதப் படையையும் எண்ணி.
அடைந்தான் வீரமகேந்திரபுரியை;
அளந்தான் தன் வீர தீர பிரதாபத்தை.
“வீரவாகுவின் பூதர்களை வென்றேன்;
வீரர்கள் உடல்களை இட்டேன் கடலில்!
ஆறுமுகனைப் போரில் வெல்வேன்!
பிற தேவர்களையும் சிறை செய்வேன்!”
மகனின் பெருமைகளைக் கேட்டுத் தன்
மனம் மகிழ்ந்து நின்றான் சூரபத்மன்.
நிமிர்ந்தன தோள்கள்; நெறித்தன வளை!
பொடித்தன மயிர்கள்; வெடித்தது சிரிப்பு!
இறுகத் தழுவினான் பானுகோபனை!
அருகில் அமர்த்தினான் அரியணையில்.
“மனக் கவலையை மாற்றினாய் மகனே!
மகிழ்சிக் கடலில் திளைக்கின்றேன் நான்.
முந்நாளில் பெற்ற செல்வங்கள் பொய்!
இந்நாளில் நான் பெற்ற செல்வமே மெய்!”
அணிகலன்கள் புதியன அணிவித்தான்!
அணைத்துப் பூரித்து மெய் புளகித்தான்;
“ஆறுமுகனை வென்று பிறரைக் கொன்று
அரும் பகை தீர்ப்பாய் நாளைய போரில்!”

He offered new ornaments to his son and had only one request, “Win the army of Murugan and put an end to the trouble makers tomorrow”.

வேண்டினான் விபரீத வரத்தினை அசுரன்.
“எவர் சிரத்தில் என் கரத்தை வைத்தாலும்
அவர் எரிந்து சாம்பலாகி விடவேண்டும்!”
கோரிய வரத்தை அளித்தார் சிவபிரான்
கோரியவன் விரும்பினான் பரீட்சிக்க.
வரம் தந்த சிவபிரான் சிரத்திலே தன்
கரத்தை வைக்க விரைந்தான் அசுரன்.
மாயமாக மறைந்து விட்டார் சிவபிரான்;
ஓயாமல் துரத்தினான் அசுரன் பிரானை.
வரம் தந்த பிரான் அசுரனுக்கு அஞ்சி
சிரம் காக்கத் திரிந்தார் உலகெங்கும்.
மாலவன் அறிந்து கொண்டார் நிகழ்வை..
மாயவன் விழைந்தான் அவனை அழிக்க.
மோகினி வடிவத்தில் மீண்டும் அவர்,

கொண்டான் அசுரன் தாளாத வேதனை.
நெருங்கினான் அவளை விடாமல் துரத்தி.
பெருகிய காதலை உரைத்தான் விரும்பி.

Brammaasuran did severe penance and Lord Siva was pleased enough to grant him a boon he wished for. The asuran made a strange request.
“The person on whose head I keep my hand must turn into ash!” Siva granted him the boon.
Now the asuran wanted to test the boon by placing his hand on lord Siva’s head. Siva ran away fast but the asura would not spare him and started chasing him all over the three world. Siva was desperate and no one came to his help.
Vishnu rose to the occasion and transformed himself in to Mohini – the most beautiful woman in the world. She walked in dainty steps in the presence of the asuran. He wanted to possess her immediately.
But she pretended as if she was not aware of his presence and let her clothes flutter in the air, revealing her irresistible beauty. The asuran chased her now instead of Lord Siva and told her his extensive love for her.

சண்டிகை எழுப்பிய வீர சங்க நாதம் அப்போது.
ஒன்றாகத் தாக்கினர் தேவியை சண்ட முண்டர்.
தோன்றியது கடும் சினம் சண்டிகை தேவிக்கு !
ஒளிர்ந்தன வாழைப் பூக்களாகச் சிவந்த கண்கள்!
வெளிப்பட்டாள் நெற்றிக் கண்ணிலிருந்து காளி!
உடுத்தி இருந்தாள் புலித்தோலை ஆடையாக;
உடுத்தி இருந்தாள் கரித்தோலை தாவணியாக.
சிரங்கள் விளங்கின கழுத்தில் ஒரு மாலையாக.
கரங்கள் ஏந்தி இருந்தன விவித ஆயுதங்களை.
கொன்று தின்றாள் அசுரப் படை வீரர்களை!
மென்று தின்றாள் கரி, பரி, ஒட்டகங்களை.
பதைத்தனர் இதைக் கண்ட சண்ட முண்டர்கள்;
மறைத்தனர் அசுர சேனையை பாணத் திரையால்.
சிலிர்த்தாள் காளி அம்புத்திரை சிதறும்படி.
சிரித்தாள் பாணத் திரை வீணானது கண்டு.

பதைத்தனர் இதைக் கண்ட சண்ட முண்டர்கள்;
மறைத்தனர் அசுர சேனையை பாணத் திரையால்.
சிலிர்த்தாள் காளி அம்புத்திரை சிதறும்படி.
சிரித்தாள் பாணத் திரை வீணானது கண்டு.

5#26b. ChaamuNdi Devi (2)
ChaamuNdi Devi told ChaNdan and MuNdan, “Do not think that I got my powers from the Devaas. They had got their power from me. Everything is happening as ordained by the Time Factor.
The golden period of the Asuraa clan is over. Lift up your weapons and fight with me now. Do not waste the precious time in the war front. ”
ChaNdan and Mundan lifted up their bows and sent out a rain of arrows. ChaamuNdi Devi blew her conch so that a deafening noise was created and reverberated in all the eight directions menacingly.
ChaNdan and MuNdan attacked ChaamuNdi Devi together. ChaamuNdi Devi became very angry and her eyes shone in the color of the deep red banana blossom.
KaaLi emerged from her fiery third eye of ChaamuNdi Devi now. KaaLi was wearing a tiger skin in her waist. She was wearing an elephant skin to cover the upper portion of her body.
She wore a hideous garland made of severed heads and sported menacing weapons in each of her hands. She ate up the Asuraa warriors. She chewed and swallowed the elephants, horses and camels of the Asuraa army.
ChaNdan and MuNdan became anxious by this and tried to cover and hide their army with a screen created by their swift arrows.
ChaamuNdi Devi made the screen of arrows crumble by a gentle vibration of her body. She laughed loudly since she had foiled the attempt of ChaNdan and MuNdan so easily.

அழிப்பேன் நகரத்தை முற்றிலுமாக!

Variable reached Mahendrapuri. His anger knew no bounds at the thought of treacherous Bhaanukoban who used sorcery in the war. He swore to himself,
“I will kill that grandson of Maayai who did war by sorcery! I will destroy this city. I will kill anyone who crosses my path!”
The nine brothers and their army reached the western gate of the city. They roared louder than the roaring sea. The gate was guarded by Puli mukhan – one of the sons of Maayai. He was famous for having arrested Yama and Varuna.
His body was of the color of burning fire. He emitted sparks and fumes due to his anger. The armies of demons and the asuras fell upon each other and soon a red river of fresh, hot blood started flowing there.
Singar fought with Puli mukan and killed him. There was nothing or no one to stop the army of demons from destroying the western gate and the city completely now.
Wind and fire were shot as arrows and they spread very fast. Soon the whole place was burned, charred, popped, smoked, cracked and burst to powder.
The beautiful city of the asuras was completely destroyed!

அப்சரஸா நீ ? அன்றி தேவ மங்கையா?
கண்டதில்லை உன்போல அழகியை நான்;
கொண்டதில்லை இதுபோல ஒரு வேதனை.
அஞ்சும் மூவுலகும் என்னைக் கண்டவுடன்
கொஞ்சும் மூவுலகும் உன்னைக் கண்டதும்.
மெல்ல மெல்ல மோகினி மயக்க – நேரம்
செல்லச் செல்லத் தன் வயம் இழந்தான்.
“அறிவேன் நான் உங்கள் பெருமைகளை;
அறிந்ததால் நான் நாடிவந்தேன் உங்களை!
கண்டவர் அஞ்சி வணங்குவர் என்னையும்;
கொண்டாடும் மூவுலகும் இனி என்னையும்.
கொள்கை வைத்துள்ளேன் நெடுநாட்களாக
வெல்ல வேண்டும் என்னை நீர் நடனத்தில்.
நடன மாதாகிய நான் மணக்க விரும்புவது

அசுரன் தயாரானான் நடனப் போட்டிக்கு.
அசுரன் அபினயித்தான் மோகினி போல்.
வேகம் கூடியது நாட்டியப போட்டியில்;
மோகினி ஆடினாள் பம்பரமாகச் சுழன்று.
தாளம், பாவம் அபிநயம் முத்திரை,
மாளாது சொல்லி அற்புத நடனத்தை!
கரத்தைச் சிரத்தில் வைத்தாள் மோகினி
வரத்தை மறந்து வைத்தான் அசுரனும்.
கரம் சிரத்தின் மேல் பட்டதும் சிவன் தந்த
வரம் வேலை செய்தது; சாம்பலானான்!

Mohini dillydallied him so that he went deeper and deeper in into lust. “I know your greatness. That is why I had come looking for you. But I have one principle which I have cherished for a very long time. I will marry only a person who can defeat me in a dance competition. I am a dancer and I want to marry a better dancer than I am.”
The asuran agreed to the condition eagerly. Mohini started dancing. The asuran copied her movements exactly . Slowly the tempo of the dance increased and their involvement in the dance became total.
Mohini held her hand above her head. Asuran forgot all about the boon he had got with so much difficulty and placed his hand on his own head. And that brought about the sudden and sad end of the asuran!

MuNdan also fell down to a crescent moon shaped arrow shot by Devi. Chandan got up and charged at Devi. Devi bound him easily with her paasam.
MuNdan sprang on her with his spear. Devi bound him also with her paasam. She lifted the two asuraas bound by her paasam as if they were two little rabbits.
She offered the asuraas ChaNdan and MuNdan to Devi to be sacrificed in a yaagaa.
The battle field became the yaaga saalaa. Chandan and Mundan became the sarificla animlas or the yaagaa pasu. The sword planted there became the yoopa sthambam.
Devi gave them back to Kaali and said,”Finish the plan as laid by the Devaas.”
Kaali severed the heads of ChaNdan and MuNdan and drank the blood flowing out of their bodies. The Devi got the name ChaamuNdi Devi since she killed ChaNdan and MuNdan.

பானுகோபன் பூதப் படையினரை எல்லாம்!
மாயப் படையால் போர் புரிந்தான் அவன்;
மாயப் படையை அழித்தது வேளின் வேல்!
பூதப் படையினர் பிழைத்து எழுந்தனர்.
பூதப் படையினர் அடைந்தனர் நம் நகரை.
புலிமுகன் படையை வென்றனர் போரில்
புலி முகனையும் கொன்றனர் அப்போரில்.
தீயையும், காற்றையும் ஒன்றாகச் செலுத்தித்
தீமை செய்து விட்டனர் நம் தலை நகருக்கு!”
“ஊழிக் காலத்தில் உலகையே அழிக்கும்
ஏழு முகில்களையும் அழைத்து வருக!”
ஏழு முகில்களும் வந்து நின்றன அங்கு!
“எழுவீர்! பொழிவீர்!எரியும் நம் நகரில்!”
தீயை அணைத்து விட்டன ஏழு முகில்கள்!
திகைத்து நின்ற வீரவாகுத் தேவரிடம்
நாரதர் தோன்றிக் கூறினார் விவரம்;
நகரை அழித்திட மற்றொரு உபாயம்.

The messengers entered the palace. They related the recent happenings to Soorapadman.
“Bhaanukoban fought using the asthram given by Maayai. It vanquished the army of the demons and threw them into the fresh water sea.
Then the spear of Murugan appeared there. The Maayaa asthram lost its power. The army of the demons were saved. They reached the western gate of our city.
They fought with Pulimukhan and killed him after defeating his army. They have shot the wind and fire and have destroyed our city completely.”
Soorapadman became very anger and ordered,“Go forth and fetch the seven rain clouds which cause deluge during PraLaya”
The seven rain clouds reported to him immediately.
He ordered them,”Go forth and rain in my city and put out the burning fire there.” The clouds obeyed him and the fire was put out. Veerabaahu was surprised by this sudden development.
Just then Narada appeared and told him another way to destroy the city. He suggested that Veerabaahu must shoot the Vadavaagni to vanquish the seven rain clouds.
The Vadavaagni spread fast. It drank up all the water from the seven rain clouds. The dry clouds could not pour down any more rain.
Soorapadman became mad with anger and ordered that his chariot be bought there immediately.

the complete Naaraayaneeyam and not just the story of Krishna!
Since I myself wanted to do it I did not find an excuse for NOT doing it!
One man can make a difference if he is sincere and serious in his aim!
