# 147. The Fox and the woman.

The title should have been The Fox and The Crow.
But the story is slightly different. Hence the title too! 'Naran' denotes a man and 'Nari' a woman. This story is about a Naran who conquers a Nari with the cunning of a Fox.

The girls are as great as the Goddess of Earth in their Patience. They are as kind as the Universal Mother. They are as intelligent as the brilliant Sun. Why then do they get cheated by the cunning men?

Manu Dharma Sastra says that parent should not praise their children in their presence. Being born in a cultured and educated family, she has never listened to any praise at home. When a man praises her sky high, just as the fox did the crow, she becomes intoxicated by the praise and throws caution to the wind.

When a crow forgot itself it lost just a snack but the girl will lose her life and future . No one praises anyone else without an ulterior and selfish motive. If she is swept off her feet and gets carried away, her life gets out of her control.

So be on guard young girls! The story of the crow and the fox has been in circulation since several centuries. If you do anything rash, it will reflect on your family members for the rest of their lives.

# 148. KALI PRABHAAVAM.

Thousands of years ago, Kali Prabhaavam had been foreseen and enlisted by great Gnaanis of ancient India. Most of them are proving to be accurately foreseen true predictions.

Virtues like Patience, sympathy, life span, intelligence, wisdom, cleanliness, will be decreasing continuously. Money or riches will be the only criterion not the varnam, vamsam, talent, satyam or honesty.

Dhrmam, Dhanam and Tapas will be on the decline. The distinctions of castes and communities will vanish. For a marriage to take place, we only two people willing to tie the knot.

No importance will be given to the gothram, education, family background, social status etc. The aim of the marriages will be pure physical pleasures and not upholding sanaathana dharma.

Wife will slight her husband and the poor will slight the rich! The wife's brothers will have a say in ever issue while the brothers husbands will kept at bay.

Brahmins will make a livelihood by selling their knowledge, and the other three varnaas by selling other things. Many women will make a living selling their virtue. The word business will imply cheating. Since everyone will be cheating, there will be no social stigma attached to it.

All the time and talent of a man will be utilized in minding the welfare of his own family. Even those who do good deeds will be doing them only for self advertisement, a good name and fame.

The rulers will loot the citizens systematically. Gold, land and beautiful women will all be grabbed by the rulers. Too much heat, floods, storms, famines and droughts will affect the normal lives of the people.

The only way to protect from the effects of Kali is to surrender to God and catch hold of His lotus feet strongly. We can not remove the bad effects of Kali but we can protect ourselves from them.

தர்மம் , தானம், தவம் குறைந்திடும்;
திருமணம் என்பது இரு மனப்பொருத்தம்;

இல்லற இன்பமே அனைவரின் தேவை;

அதிக வெய்யில், அதிக வெப்பம், புயல்;
அதிகக் காற்று, அதிக மழை , வெள்ளம்;

வருமுன் காப்போம், மிகவும் கவனமாக;
கலியின் பற்பல இன்னல்களில் இருந்து;

இயற்கையின் நியதியை அறிவோம்;

இதுவரை நாம் செய்த தவறுகள் போதும்;

# 149. The peacock and the cuckoo.

The peacock is born to dance. Its call is ugly and repulsive. On the other hand the cuckoo is born to sing. It can not dance even if it wants to!

We watch the Nature and learn these facts. But do we know the real nature of our own children? Do we really know their strength and weakness?

When we do things we like to do, we perform very well. But when forced to do something not to our liking, we jut make half hearted attempts that are not sincere.

Usually parents want their children to achieve whatever they themselves want to achieve but could not. They have the best intentions no doubt but they are not doing the best thing for their children.

If child scores less marks, the parents should try to find where lies the real problem and not just beat him. Can the boy improve his score as a result of the beatings? The parents must find out what interests him best and train him in that field.

There is a latent talent in everyone of us. If we discover them early in or lives and nurture them, we will emerge successful in our lives.

A word of advice o the parents...
Do not try to train a peacock to sing.
Do not try to train a cuckoo to dance.
Do not look for ripe fruits in cows.
Do not look or cow's milk in trees.

We can get only what is there already. It is high time for the parents to reform their thinking and cherish and nourish the real talents of their children.

#150. இனம் இனத்தோடு…!

உலகினை வெறுத்து, உண்மையைத் தேடி;
உள்ளத்தை அடக்கி, உன்னித் தவம் செய்த;
ஒரு முனி மடியில், விழுந்தது சிறு எலி;

காலம் பறந்தது, நாட்கள் உருண்டன;

கனத்த மனத்தோடு, வருந்திய போதிலும்;

# 150. Birds of a feather...

A great rishi had denounced the world and was absorbed in severe tapas. A tiny mouse struggled and escaped from the clutches of a kite flying above and fell own on his lap. He was deeply moved to pity to see the scared little mouse shivering all over. He transformed he muse to a beautiful baby girl.

Caring for his new found daughter became his prime concern. He became her father, mother, friend, philosopher and guide. Years rolled by and the girl attained marriageable age. The rishi would wed his daughter only to the most worthy person. None but the best could become his son in law.

The Sun God was the most powerful in the entire creation. He requested the Sun to accept his daughter for a wife. But the Sum God replied politely, " I may appear all powerful but it is not true! A small could can hide me completely screening off my heat and light rays. There is no doubt that the cloud is stronger than me."

Th rishi approached the cloud and begged him to marry his daughter. The cloud replied politely, " Sire I can hide the Sun and block his rays. But a strong wind can blow me out of shape and destroy me. Undoubtedly the wind is stronger than me."

Now the rishi approached the wind and requested him to marry his daughter. The wind replied, " Sire I can blow the cloud out of shape no doubt but a mountain can stop me completely. You can very well see that a mountain is much stronger than me."

The rishi approached the mountain. The mountain replied, "Sir! I can stop the wind but the little mouse there can make tunnels in my body. He is stronger than me. He may be a better husband to your daughter."

The rishi stood speechless. But his daughter jumped with joy and excitement.,"Yes father! He will make a perfect husband for me!" The rishi was crestfallen but performed the wedding after transforming the mouse into a handsome young man.

The rishi knew everything but had forgotten the fact that birds of a feather flock together.

சேர்த்து கட்டினர், மனம் மிக மகிழ்ந்தனர்;

ஆளுக்கு ஒரு பக்கம் இழுக்கும் போது;

# 151. THE IMPOSSIBLE FRIENDSHIP.

A frog and a mouse were the best friends despite the differences between them.They liked the company of each other so much that, they would spend as much time together as possible.

One day they heard two men discussing the threat to the world due to atomic weapons. Both got frightened enough to decide to stay inseparably together.

They got a thick string and tied their legs together in order to stay together. After sometime the skin of the frog got dried and the frog wanted to jump into water. The rat would get drowned if it fell into the pond. So when the frog pulled the rat towards the water, the rat resisted it and pulled the frog towards land.

Suddenly they both got frightened that this was the war people were discussing about. They started pulling each other harder than before. A kite saw this tug of war between the friends it came down in one swoop and carried away the two friends hanging from the ends of the string. They became his delicious meal.

They had sacrificed their lives to teach the world a lesson about the impossible friendship which is bound to destroy both the friends. Good friends help us while bad friends destroy us. We must look for true friends and once we find them, we must cling to them for life.

திவ்வியமான அன்னப் பறவைகள்;

எத்தனை எத்தனை அதிசயங்கள்;
நான்கு தந்தம் கொண்ட ஐராவதம்;

அமுதமயமான இன்னிசை, நடனம்;

இங்கு ஒரு புழுவும்கூட இல்லை;

இனிய நிறைவுகள் காணுவர் ஒரு சாரர்;

நிறைந்த மனத்தோடு மகிழ்வார்;

நிறைகளையே எப்போதும் தேடுவோம்;
நிறைகளையே கண்டால் என்றும் இன்பமே;

# 152. Is this Heaven?

Two snow white swans would fly down from the Heaven to the earth every night. They would swim around and play in a lake. They had a good friend who was a multi colored duck. They would describe to him the wonders of the Heaven they lived in.

One day the swans took the duck along with them to show him the wonders and glories of the Heaven. It was indeed an unusual place! Iravatham the four tusked elephant of Indra, the Kaplaga Vruksham that could grant you anything your heart desired, the nectar, the Apsras, the divine music and captivating dances. The whole place was a sea of joy and light.

The swans asked the duck, "How do you like our Heaven?" The duck then gave the strangest possible reply.

"Is this the Heaven you boast so much about? I did not find a single worm to eat nor did i find any slush to waddle in!"

Heaven had everything good and desirable and yet all the duck could think of was mud and worms.

We have two types of persons among us. Those who always look for the good hings in life, find them and remain happy and contented. The other type of fellows always look for the defects and deficiencies in everything and remain dissatisfied and unhappy.

Let us learn to look at the positive side of everything and live happily.

# 153. FOR SUCCESSFUL LIVING...

Be good natured but do not end up becoming swindled.

Be strong but do not become a bully.

Be knowledgeable but do not become a show off.

Be well informed but do not live in an ivory tower.

Help others whenever and wherever possible, without expecting anything in return.

Help the society but not with the aim of earning fame and a good name.

Be bold and stand firm while fighting injustice.

Be truly humble and do not feign humility coveting some position or power.

Give away things for the mere joy of giving.

Give a tough time to the wrong doers.

Develop mental power to achieve what you have set out to.

Develop razor sharp intelligence to discern the good from the bad.

Learn to think clearly for self development.

Learn to pray for the blessings of the all powerful.

# 154. Know Thyself.

If you know yourself well enough, you don't have to bother about the opinions of the people around you.

If you speak the truth always, you will never be bothered by your conscience.

One who knows his true self does not become sad and spend sleepless nights tossing restlessly in his bed.

Good actions give rise to good consequences.

We must never doubt the sincerity of our well wishers.

We should not get angry at the arrow that pierces us, since the person who shot the arrow is the real culprit.

Do good deeds to reap goodness. Even at such times when good things elude and bad things force themselves on us, we must not lose out equanimity.

We should have a strong unshakable faith in God that He will never desert us.

Let us hold on to the lotus feet of Lord Govinda.

He is famous for enacting dramas to test the sincerity of our devotion, but He will never forsake anyone who has total trust in Him.

Sometimes God says, Slow down,
I want you to be still and listen.
Can’t you see you’re going too fast?
Know that I am here to take care of you.

Now and then our body needs rest,
Endless running can wear us down,
So rest a while and let healing work,
Slow down and let God speak.

God is RIGHT in telling YOU this! :blabla:

I never doubted His Wisdom even once!

ஆகாசமும், ஆத்மாவும் ஒப்பானவை;

எங்கும் நிறைந்தவை இவை இரண்டுமே;

நுண்ணியவை இவை இரண்டுமே;

# 155. Akasham and Atman.

Akasham or vacant space exists throughout the Universe.
Atman exists throughout the creations.

Even inside a human body Akasham exists.
The one inside the head is called Chitaakaasham.

Akasaham and Atman are so similar in their properties that
we will be wonder struck when we just compare them.

Both Akasham and Atman prevail everywhere.
Both of them are immutable and imperishable.

Neither of them can be destroyed.
Neither of them can be transformed.

Both of them are in their pure subtle forms.
Both of them are completely colorless.

Both of them can not cling on to anything else.
Nothing else can cling on to them either.

Both of them pervade inside and outside every object.
Both of them are so minute that they defy perception through any sense organs.

Neither of them can be seen, heard, smelled, tasted or felt.
Neither of them can be known by any regular methods of knowledge.

Without space, there is no Universe.
Without Atman, there is no creation.

#156. மௌனமே சிறந்த மொழி!

குறை குடம் தான் தளும்பி வழியும்;

புறம், கோள், வம்புகள் பேசக்கூடாது;

தூசாக அடங்கிச் சற்று அமைதியுறும்;

மிதமாகப் பேசுபவராக மாறுவோம்;

# 156. Silence is Golden.

A half filled vessel spills over. A vessel completely filled does not spill over.
An empty vessel makes the most noise. The chaff flies high in the blowing wind while the heavy grains fall down and stay on the ground.

God has given us two ears but only one tongue. So we should listen to more than what we talk! Even the dumbest fool can pass for an intellectual or even a philosopher...as long as he does not open his mouth and expose his ignorance.

We must talk only to persons who are willing to listen to us with interest-just like the cow responding to the stimulus of the calf be secreting more milk.

The milk kept on fire rises to the brim and then spills over. In the same way the mind must be filled with thoughts and only then they must come out through the mouth as words - to the satisfaction of the speaker as well as the listener.
.
We should not waste our time in useless talk, chit chat, bickering, back biting, complaining, commenting and comparing others. Less we speak, better the others will listen to it.

Only when we refrain from talking, our thought waves cease. The mind becomes free and starts exploring the inner self. Only when we travel inwards into our mind, the mysteries of the creation will be reveled to us. Our mind is mini universe in itself!

Let us not waste our words any more. Let us all become 'Mitha Baashi' like Lord Sri Rama and speak only limited and necessary words.

Words are powerful and sharp instruments. Let us learn to us them wisely,

ஒருவன் உல்லாசத்தை மிகவும் விழைவான்;

கண்டனர் இருவரும் ஒரு பெரிய அறிவிப்பு;
ஒருவன் கூறினான், ” நாம் கதை கேட்போம்”;

காரிகை வீட்டையே சுற்றி வட்டமிட்டது;

# 157. Two friends.

Two friends used to live in two different cities. Like most of the very close friends, they were differently made by God. One of them wanted to enjoy the life to his heart's content, throwing morals to the wind. The other man was anxious not to break the social norms and rules prevailing in the society.

They met after a long gap of time. They were strolling and came across an ad about the spiritual discourse on God by a famous Guruji. The second friend wanted to listen to the discourse while the first friend wanted to enjoy the company of the local call girl.

They split and went their separate ways. The man could not concentrate on the discourse. He was musing," Have I done a mistake by coming here? May be I should have gone with my friend to have some fun!"

Neither did the other man enjoy the company of the girl. His mind was bothering him since he had preferred the company of a common woman over a spiritual discourse.

So both the friends incurred loads of sin on that evening. One man committed sin mentally by musing on a harlot during a divine lecture. The other man committed a sin physically by spending the evening in her company.

If the mind is filled with presence of God, a person can not think, speak or do evil things. The test for greatness is the truthfulness of ones heart. A pure mind is the living temple of God.

# 158. Why are we born?

Do you know the purpose of our being born as human beings? It is to help us realize God in this birth itself and not for any other purpose besides this.

The eyes of a man which do not find pleasure in looking at the lovely form of the glowing Shiva and praise Him are no better than the colorful but useless eyes found on the feathers of a peacock.

Th ears which do not find happiness in listening to the great stories of Lord Narayana and Lakshmi Devi are useful only for wearing the various ear ornaments - as if they were jewel stands!

The nose which has never once smelled the fragrance of the Thulasi nirmaaylam of Sri Krishna is nothing better than the bellows of a blacksmith - drawing in fresh air for melting iron.

The tongue that does not praise and sing the glory of the Lakshmi Devi seated on a lovely red lotus is nothing better than the tongue of a croaking frog - sitting amidst the lotus leaves.

The head which has never bent or touched the ground in a sashtaanga namaskaaram in front of a God is only a turban stand in a human form. It does not contain any brain inside .

The hands which never did anjali to the most handsome and delightful form of Lord Shanmukha are nothing better than the clay hands of the dolls made by a potter - devoid of blood circulation and the sense of touch.

The feet of a man who never went on a theertha yaatra are none better than the roots of the tall trees found in the forests.

The heart which does not melt with bakthi is but made of iron. The mind that does not spill over through the eyes as tears is none better than the mind of an animal.

Being born as a human being is a rare opportunity. Let us not waste this precious janma in vain.

Now that we know the real purpose of our janma and our existence, let us strive for the real purpose and not waste one minute of our lives in other useless pursuits.
