VENKATESA PURAANAM

14b. குறத்தி வந்தாள்

அன்னையுடன் வழி நடந்த ஸ்ரீனிவாசனுக்கு,
பின்னர் இருப்புக் கொள்ளவில்லை தனியே.

‘சென்ற காரியம் வெற்றி அடையுமா? அன்னை
வென்று திரும்புவாளா? அல்லது தோற்பாளா?’

தோற்று விடும் எண்ணமே தோற்றுவித்தது
தேற்ற இயலாத மனக்கவலையை நெஞ்சில்.

தன் பங்குக்கும் செய்ய வேண்டும் ஏதாவது,
தன் விருப்பம் தடையின்றி நிறைவேறிட.

மாறினான் நகரின் எல்லையை அடைந்ததும்,
குறி சொல்லும் அழகிய குறத்தியாக அவன்!

“சொல்வேன் உள்ளபடி மூன்று காலத்தையும்!
வெல்வேன் உங்கள் எல்லா தோஷங்களையும்!”

குறத்தியை அழைத்து வரச் சொன்னாள் அரசி.
குறத்தியை அழைத்து வந்தனர் தோழியர்கள்.

“குறி சொல்வதில் நீ திறமைசாலியாமே!
குறி சொல்கிறாயா அரசகுமாரிக்கு?” என,

“நான் சொல்வது ஒன்றும் இல்லை தாயே!
நாவில் அமர்பவன் செந்தில் ஆண்டவன்!

அழையுங்கள் உங்கள் அரசகுமாரியை!”
“குழந்தையின் கைபார்த்துக் கூறி சொல்!”

நாணத்துடன் வந்து அமர்ந்தாள் பத்மாவதி
காணத் தந்தாள் தன் இடக்கரத்தை நீட்டி.

வெள்ளிப் பூண் போட்ட குழலால் தடவிய
கள்ளக் குறத்தியும் குறி சொல்லலானாள்!

14b. The Fortune Teller

Srinivaasan accompanied VaguLa Maalika for some distance. After she went away he felt restless. ‘Will my mother succeed in her mission? will she fail?’ The very thought of failure made him feel miserable.

He said to himself, “I must put in some effort from my side, so the mother’s mission surely succeeds.” He went to the city of NaarayaNa Puram. As soon as reached it, he transformed himself into young and pretty fortune teller.

She announced her accomplishments as walked along the roads, “I can tell you the past, the present and the future correctly. I can remove all doshams by doing suitable parihaaram”

The queen heard the fortune teller and had her brought in to the palace. She asked the fortune teller, “Are you really as good as you claim to be?” The girl replied, ” It is not me who does the talking my lady. The god Senthil naathan talks through me.”

The queen told the girl to foretell the future of her dear daughter. The princess Padmaavati came, sat down and put forward her left palm.

Srinivaasan, in the guise of the fortune teller, ran his stick with silver rims over her palm and started to tell her fortune.

6#9a. சிவிகை (1)

வியந்தாள் இந்திராணி இந்திரனைக் கண்டு!
வியந்தான் இந்திரன் இந்திராணியைக் கண்டு!

“யாருக்கும் தெரியாது நான் இங்கிருப்பது – என்
இருப்பிடத்தை அறிந்தது எங்ஙனம் இந்திராணி?”

“அறிந்தேன் இருப்பிடத்தைத் தேவியின் அருளால்.
அறிவீர் இப்போது புதிய இந்திரன் பூலோக நகுஷன் .

தொல்லைகள் தருகின்றான் தினமும் எனக்கு
அல்லல்படுத்துகின்றான் ஆசை நாயகியாகும்படி.

காலத்தை எதிர் நோக்கிக் காத்துள்ளேன்!” என்றாள்.
“காலத்தை எதிர்நோக்கி காத்திருத்தல் நலம்!” என்றான்

“என்னைக் காக்கும் என் மனவுறுதி என்பதில்லை,
எளிதே முரடனுக்கு என்னை வசப்படுத்துவது.

அஞ்சுகின்றனர் தேவர்கள் அவனைக் கண்டு;
கெஞ்சுகின்றனர் அவனிடம் செல்லுமாறு என்னை.

தேவகுரு அடைக்கலம் அளித்துள்ளார் எனினும்
தேவகுருவிடம் இல்லை படை பலம் எதுவும்.

காமாந்தகன் இந்திரன் ஆகிவிட்டதால் – கற்பைக்
காப்பாற்றுவது கடினம் ஆகிவிட்டது எனக்கு.”

“காப்பாற்றவேண்டும் கற்பைத் தனக்குத் தானே;
காப்பாற்ற முடியாது புறக் காவல் பெண் கற்பை!

உனக்கு அதிக நெருக்கடி தந்தால் தப்புவதற்கு
உபாயம் ஒன்று கூறுகின்றேன் கேள் இந்திராணி!

‘நாயகனாக ஏற்பேன் நகுஷனே உன்னை – நீ
நாடு போற்றும் சிறப்புடன் என்னிடம் வந்தால்!

வர வேண்டும் அழகியதொரு சிவிகையில் நீ!
வர வேண்டும் சப்த ரிஷிகள் சுமந்து கொண்டு”

கூறுவாய் நகுஷனிடம் இந்த கோரிக்கையை.
தாறுமாறு ஆகிவிடும் அவன் இந்திர வாழ்வு!”

6#9a. The palanquin (1)

Indra was surprised to see Indrani and Indraani was surprised to meet Indra. He asked her, “No one knew that I was hiding here. How did you come to know abouT my being here?”

“I came to know a about your presence here through Devi’s grace. Now Nahushan – a king from the earth is the new Indra. He is giving me a very hard time. He wants me to become his lover or wife. I am abiding for a more favorable time to escape from him”

Indra said,”It is good to wait for a more favorable time. ” IndraaNi said, “My being adamant may not save me from Nahushan. He can break my resistance very easily by his power and position. The Devaas are afraid of him. They advise me to go to him to save their skin!

Deva Guru has given me protection but he has no army to enforce his decision. It is indeed difficult to keep a lust filled man at one’s arm’s length.”

Indra said, “A woman has to save her virtue by her own efforts. No outside protections can really save her virtue. If Nahushan continues to bother you, follow my advice to get rid of him.

Tell him that you will accept him as your man if he comes to you in a rare palanquin carried by the sapta rushis. He will surely fall for this bait and he will get destroyed by it.”

4. கந்தவெற்பு.


கந்தன் செல்ல விரும்பினான் மீண்டும்
கந்தவெற்பு என்னும் தன் மலைக்கு!

தெய்வ யானையுடன் புறப்பட்டான்
தேவர்கள் வந்து தாள் பணிந்தனர்.

திருமுருகன் விடை கொடுத்தான்
திரும்பத் தம் இடம் செல்வதற்கு.

தேரைச் செலுத்தினான் இளவல்
வீரவாகு என்னும் நவசக்தி குமாரன்.

கயிலை சென்று அடைந்தனர் மூவரும்.
கயிலை நாதன் பொற்றாள் பணிந்தனர்.

அன்னை உமையும் ஆசிகள் தந்தாள்.
பின்னர் அடைந்தனர் கந்த வெற்பை.

வீரவாகு தம் பணிகளைச் செய்துவர,
அரியணை மீது முருகனும், தேவியும்.

5#4. Kanda verpu.

Kandhan wanted to go back to his Kandha veppu.
He left with Devayaani in his chariot.
The Devas came and paid them their respects.
Murugan took leave of them.
Veerabaahu became the charioteer.
They reached Kailash.
They took leave of Siva and Uma.
Then they proceeded to Kanda verpu.
Veerabaahu went about his business and
Murugan and Devayaani occupied their throne.

14c. குறத்தி சொன்ன குறி

“குல தெய்வம் யார் கூறுங்கள் அரசி” எனவும்,
“குல தெய்வம் சேஷாத்ரி வாசனே!” என்றாள்.

“சேஷாத்ரி வாசன் உள்ளான் உங்கள் முன்பு!
பேசுவது அவனே என் நாவிலிருந்து இப்போது!

மலர் வனத்தில் இரண்டு தினங்களுக்கு முன்பு
மகள் சந்தித்தது அந்த சேஷாத்ரி வாசனையே!

மணக்கக் கேட்டான் இவளிடம் சம்மதம்;
பிணங்கிக் கொண்டு அடித்தாள் கல்லால்!

புறப்பட்டுப் போகுமுன் அவன் இவளுடைய
புறக் கண்களுக்கும் காட்சி அளித்துள்ளான்!

ஆகிவிட்டாள் அவன் நினைவால் இங்ஙனம்.
ஆகிவிடுவாள் சஹஜமாக, அவனை மணந்தால்.

விட்டு விட்டால் இவளை இப்படியே – இவள்
விட்டு விடுவாள் தன் உயிரையே ஏக்கத்தில்!”

யாரும் பேசவில்லை இதைக் கேட்ட பின்னர்.
யாரும் நம்பவில்லை குறத்தியின் குறியை

“பகவானை மணப்பது நடக்கும் காரியமா?
பகவானிடம் மனம் பேசுவதும் சாத்தியமா?”

“மனதைப் பறி கொடுத்தவனே அனுப்புவான்;
மணம் பேசி முடிக்கத் தகுந்த நபரை!” என்றாள்.

“பொற்காசுகளை அளித்தாள் அரசி குறத்திக்கு,
“நற்காரியம் நடப்பதே போதும் எனக்கு!” என்று

விடை பெற்றுச் சென்றவள் குறத்தி – ஆனால்
வீட்டைச் சென்று அடைந்தவன் ஸ்ரீனிவாசன்.

14c. The Fortune Teller

The fortune teller asked the Queen , “Who is your kula deivam?” The Queen replied, “Seshaadri vaasan is our kula deivam” The fortune teller continued,
” It is Seshaadri vaasan himself, who is sitting in front of you and talking to you!

Two days ago, the princess met Seshaadri Vaasan in the flower garden. He proposed to the princess but she drove him away by having his stoned.

Before he went away, he had revealed his identity to her. The thoughts about him have reduced the princess to this pitiable condition. If she marries him, she will become her normal self. If left alone like this, she may give up her life pining for her lover”

Everyone remained silent. No one could believe this prediction. The queen asked the girl, “Is it possible to marry a God? Who can talk to him and get the alliance finalized?'”

The girl replied, “The god who fell in love with the princess will take care of all those matters. He will send a suitable person to have this alliance fixed.”

The queen gave the girl a few gold coins but she refused to take them saying ” I will be very happy if auspicious events happen soon”

The girl took leave of the Queen and went home and became Srinivaasan once again.

6#9b. சிவிகை (2)

“விரதமாக ஏற்றுள்ளேன் இதனை நான் – உங்கள்
விருப்பம் நிறைவேறும் விரதம் நிறைவேறினால்.

என்று கூறுவாய் நீ நகுஷனிடம் இக் கோரிக்கையை;
முன் பின் யோசியாமல் ஏற்றுக் கொள்வான் அவன்.

மோஹவெறியில் அவமதிப்பான் முனிவர்களை
கோப வெறியில் சாபம் தருவார்கள் முனிவர்கள்.”

திரும்பிச் சென்றாள் இந்திராணி நகுஷனிடம் ;
தேன் குடித்த நரியானான் அவளைக் கண்டவுடன்.

“சொன்ன சொல் தவறவில்லை நீ சசிதேவி!
இன்னமும் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் சொல்!”

“வசப் படுத்திக் கொண்டீர் சுவர்க்க லோகத்தை.
வசப் படுத்திக் கொண்டீர் இந்திரன் அரியணையை

வசப் படுத்திக் கொண்டீர் முனிவர், தேவர்களை
வசப் படுத்திக் கொள்வீர் இனி என்னையும் கூட.

இன்னமும் உள்ளது ஒன்று நீங்கள் செய்வதற்கு;
சொன்னால் செய்வீர் என்றால் நான் சொல்வேன்!”

“சத்தியம் செய்கின்றேன் சசி தேவி உன்னிடம்;
உத்திரவாதமாகச் செய்வேன் நீ விரும்புவதை!”

“வாகனங்கள் வெறுப்படும் தெய்வங்களுக்கு;
வாகனம் இந்திரனுக்கு ஐராவதம், உச்சைச்ரவம்;

வாஹனம் விஷ்ணுவுக்கு வலிமை மிக்க கருடன்;
வாஹனம் சிவனுக்கு அழகிய காளை நந்திதேவன்.

வாஹனம் ஆகும் நீல மயில் சுப்பிரமணியருக்கு;
வாஹனம் ஆகும் அன்னப் பறவை பிரம்மனுக்கு.

வர வேண்டும் நீங்கள் இன்னமும் சிறந்த வாகனத்தில்;
வர வேண்டும் சப்தரிஷிகள் சிவிகையைச் சுமந்த படி!

உன்னத வாஹனத்தில் வந்து இறங்கினால் அப்போது
உலகம் உணரும் உங்கள் அருமை, பெருமைகளை!

என்னை நீங்கள் அடையத் தடையொன்றும் இல்லை,
என்னிடம் நான் விரும்பியயபடி நீங்கள் வந்தால்!”

6#9b. The Palanquin (2)

Indra told IndraaNi how to bring about the downfall of Nahushan in a clever and subtle manner. “You must tell Nahushan that you have a vratam about the man who wants to become your husband.

Tell Nahushan that he must come riding in a palanquin carried by the Sapta rushis to your palace. He will surely misbehave with them and get cursed by the sapta rushis. ”

IndraaNi went back to Nahushan. He was happy to see her and felt dizzy like a bear intoxicated with fresh honey. “So you have kept your promise Sasi Devi! Tell me what more you want me to do?”

IndraaNi told him,”You have conquered the swarggam and the throne of Indra. You have control over the Devaas and the sages. You will have me also under your control soon. There is just one more thing I want you to do. If you are willing to oblige, I shall tell you what it is.”

Nahushan told her,”I promise to carry out your wish – whatever it may be. Please tell me about it!”

“Every God and Devaa has his own Vaahanam. Indra rides on Airavat and Uchchaisravas. Vishnu rides on his Garuda and Siva on his bull Nandi Devan. Brahma flies on the back of a swan and Subrahmanya on a peacock.

I wish you would ride in a vaahanam which is superior to all these other vaahanaas. I want you to ride on a palaquin carried by the sapta rushis. This will make the word realize you true greatness and there will nothing more standing in between you and me”

5a. இந்திரனின் மாற்றம்.

விண்ணுலக போகங்களில் திளைத்து
விருப்பங்கள் நிறைவேறிய பின்னர்

கண்கள் திறந்தன தெளிவு பிறந்தது
எண்ணி ஆராய்ந்த இந்திரனுக்கு!

“இன்ப துன்பங்கள் மாறி மாறி வரும்
புன்மை வாழ்க்கை இனியும் வேண்டாம்.

அரசைத் துறந்து கானகம் அடைந்து,
அரிய தவம் செய்து அடைவேன் முக்தி.”

விபரீதமான மன மாற்றங்களை குலகுரு
வியாழபகவான் அறிந்து கொண்டார்.

இன்பங்களில் நாட்டம் இல்லாதவன்
இந்திரப் பதவி எப்படி வகிக்க முடியும்?

“அரசே நான் கூறுவதைச் சற்றுக் கேளும்!
சூரனின் கொடுமையை எண்ணியே நீர்

விண்ணுலக வாழ்வினை வெறுக்கின்றீர்.
பெண்தரும் இன்பத்தையும் மறுக்கின்றீர்.

ஒழிந்து போன துன்பங்களுக்கு அஞ்சி
இழக்கலாகுமோ சுவர்க்க வாழ்வினை?

மனத்தை அடக்கி, உடலை ஒடுக்கி
மாதவம் புரிவதால் எத்தனை துயரம்!

கானல் நீரைக் கண்டு அஞ்சியதால்
கடல் நீரில் போய் நீர் விழலாமா?

உடலை வருத்தி ஐம்புலன்களை அடக்கி
அடையும் பயனும் ஒருவித போகமே!"

KANDA PURAANAM - DEVA KAANDAM

5 # 5 a. The changes in Indra.

After enjoying to his heart’s content the swarga bhogam, Indra realized one day that life is a chain of pleasures and pains. He had go beyond this kind of uncertain life. He decided to give up his kingdom, do penance and obtain total liberation.

Kulaguru Vyaazha bhagavaan knew the changes in the mentality on Indra. ‘How can a person who is not interested in pleasures continue to be Indra?’
He gave a long sermon to Indra.

“Listen o king! You are thinking about the atrocities committed and humiliation inflicted by the Sooran and his people. You want to give up this life of pleasures. The days of Soorapadman are over. He is no more. Will you sacrifice this happy life fearing a dead person?

Are you so much afraid of a mirage that you are willing to go and dive in the deep sea? The life of sanyasin is also filled with troubles and pains. Gaining control over the body and its desires is also kind of bhogam.”

15a. அன்னையர் சந்திப்பு

விடியலுக்குக் காத்திருந்தாள் தரணி தேவி.
விடிந்தவுடன் விடியும் சில பிரச்சனைகள்.

வந்தனர் அந்தணர் சிவன் ஆலயத்திலிருந்து;
தந்தனர் அபிஷேகத் தீர்த்தப் பிரசாதங்கள்.

அழகிய கோலமிட் ட மணையில் அமர்த்தி,
அழகி பத்மாவதிக்குச் செய்தனர் அபிஷேகம்.

முழங்கின எங்கும் மங்கல வாத்தியங்கள்
வழங்கினர் பரிசுகள் அங்கு வந்தவர்களுக்கு.

“சேஷாச்சலத்தில் இருந்து வந்துள்ள மாது
பேச விரும்புகிறார் அரசி தரணி தேவியிடம்”

வந்தவர், திருமணம் பேச வந்தவர் தான் என்று
அந்த மாதை அழைத்து வந்தனர் அரசியிடம்.

“சேஷாச்சலம் என் ஊர், வகுளமாலிகை என் பேர்;
பேச வேண்டும் அரசகுமாரியைப் பற்றி ” என்றார்.

“காத்ருக்கிறேன் உங்களிடம் பேசுவதற்கு – எதிர்
பார்த்திருந்தேன் உங்கள் இனிய வருகைக்கு!

குறத்தி வந்தாள் அரண்மனைக்கு நேற்றுமாலை;
குறி சொன்னாள் சேஷாத்ரி வாசனைக் குறித்து.

உத்தியானவனத்தில் என் பெண்ணைக் கண்டானாம்;
பத்மாவதியிடம் மையல் கொண்டானாம்!” என்றாள்.

“குறத்தி சொல்லியது முற்றிலும் உண்மையே,
குமாரத்தியுடன் மணம் பேசவே வந்துள்ளேன்.

அனுப்பியவன் மகன் சேஷாச்சலம் ஸ்ரீனிவாசன்;
அனுமதி வேண்டும் இத் திருமணம் நடப்பதற்கு!”

பிள்ளையைப் பற்றிய விவரங்களைக் கேட்டு
கொள்ளை மகிழ்ச்சி கொண்டாள் தாரணி தேவி.

அரண்மனையில் தங்கவைத்தாள் அந்த மாதை.
அரசனிடம் விரைந்தாள் செய்தி சொல்வதற்கு.

15a. The mothers meet

Queen DharaNi Devi was eagerly awaiting the dawn of the next day. Many problems would get resolved on that day. The learned pundits brought and gave the abishekha prasaadam and theertham to the queen.

Padmaavati was made to sit on a decorated wooden plank and the holy theertham was poured on her. Auspicious musical instruments were played and gifts were distributed to everyone present there.

A messenger came and told the queen, “A lady has come from Seshaachalam and she wishes to speak to the queen”. The queen ordered the lady to be led to her with great respect and due honor.

The elderly and respectable lady introduced herself to the queen.”I come form Seshaachalam and my name is VaguLa Maalikai. I want to talk about the wedding on my son Srinivaasan with your daughter Padmaavati.”

The queen was delighted that the prophesy of the fortune teller was coming true! She said to the lady, “I too am eager to talk to you about it. In fact I have been eagerly waiting for your arrival.

We had been visited by a young fortune teller yesterday. She spoke about Seshaadri vaasan. She said that he saw the princess in the garden and fell in love with her at the very first sight.”

“Yes my lady! Whatever the fortune teller told is true. My son is head over heels in love with your daughter. I request you and the king to agree to this alliance and conduct their marriage”

The queen asked about the groom and became very happy with whatever VaguLa Maalikai told her. She made the lady stay comfortably in the palace and went to convey the happy news to the king Aakaasa Raajan.

6#9c. “ஸர்ப்ப! ஸர்ப்ப!”

அடைந்தான் அகம்பாவம் தேவியின் மாயையால்;
ஆராயவில்லை இதன் பின்விளைவுகளைச் சிறிதும்.

“உணரும் உலகம் என் பெருமைகளை இதனால்,
உணர்ந்தேன் உன் பொறுமையை நான் இதனால்!”

வரவழைத்தான் சப்த ருஷிகளைத் தன்னிடம்;
உரைத்தான் சசி தேவி விதித்த நிபந்தனையை.

” அடைய வேண்டும் இந்திராணியை நான் ;
அடைவதற்குச் செல்ல வேண்டும் சிவிகையில்.

தடை சொல்லாது சுமப்பீர் என் சிவிகையை;
நடைபோடும் விரைந்து இந்திராணியிடம்!”

வரப்போவதை உணர்ந்து கொண்ட ருஷிகள்
பொறுமையாகச் சுமந்து நடந்தனர் நகுஷனை.

முற்றியது வினைப் பயன், பழுத்தன பாவங்கள்;
முற்றியது காம வேகம் இந்திராணியின் மீது.

பற்றியது அறியாமை; ஒடுங்கியது நல்லறிவு;
பற்றியது வெகுளி தீயிடப்பட்ட சருகு போல.

குறுமுனி அகத்தியர் குறுநடை பயில – அவரைத்
தறுதலை நகுஷன் அடித்தான் தன்கைப் பிரம்பால்.

“ஸர்ப்ப! ஸர்ப்ப! என்று விரட்டினான் அவரை
'ஸர்ப்ப' என்றால் 'சர்ப்பம்' மற்றும் “விரைந்திடுக!”

“எந்த வானத்தில் கொடுமைகள் மிக அதிகமோ
அந்த வனத்தில் விழுவாய் மலைப் பாம்பாக! ”

சாபம் தந்தார் கோபம் கொண்ட அகத்தியர்.
சாப விமோச்சனம் கேட்டான் நகுஷ மன்னன்.

“சாபம் நீங்கும் யுதிஷ்டிரனைச் சந்திக்கும் போது!”
சாபம் பலித்தது; இந்திராணியின் தாபம் தீர்ந்தது.

தலைக் குப்புற விழுந்தான் விண்ணிலிருந்து
மலைப் பாம்பாக மாறிவிட்ட நகுஷன் கீழே.

அழைத்துச் சென்றனர் தேவர்கள் இந்திரனை ;
அமர்த்தினர் மீண்டும் அவனை அரியணையில்!

6#9c. “Sarppa! Sarppa!”

Nahushan got deluded by Devi’s Maayaa. He did not bother to think about the bitter consequences of this adventurous ride. He thought to himself, “This will broadcast my greatness to the world!”

He sent for the sapta rushis and told them about the condition laid by Sasi Devi. “I must win Sasi Devi’s affection. She will accept me only if I go to her palace in a palanquin carried by you the seven sages. So obey my orders and carry me in a palanquin to her palace fast.”

The seven sages became very angry to hear this. But they had the divya drushti to foresee the future. So they kept silent and carried the palanquin.

The sins of Nahushan bore fruit at that time. He became impatient and wanted to reach Sasi Devi’s palace fast. The Short sage Agasthya could not keep pace with the other six sages. So Nahushan beat him with his cane and commanded, “Sarppa! Sarppa!” meaning ” Go fast! Go fast!"

But the word ‘sarpa’ had another meaning also as a snake. Agasthya flew into a temper and cursed Nahushan thus.”You will become a python snake and fall down on earth in a forest where animals are the most violent”

Nahushan felt sorry and prayed for saapa nivaaraNam. Agasthya said, “You will be freed from the curse when you meet Yudhishtra sometime in the future.”

IndraaNi’s troubles were over. The Devaas brought back Indra with them and made occupy his throne and rule swarggam as before.

5b. வியாழனின் வெற்றி.

வியாழ பகவான் தொடர்ந்தார் தமது
விபரீத அறிவுரைகளை மேலும்.

“ஒடுங்கும் புலன்கள், ஒடுங்கும் மனம்,
தொடங்கும் பேரின்பம் என்பார் சிலர்.

‘கண்டதே காட்சி கொண்டதே கோலம்
விண்டதே மெய்’ என்பதை அறியீரோ ?

‘வெடித்த நிலத்தில் விழுந்த அமுதமே’
கிடைப்பதற்கு அரிய அந்த வீடுபேறு.

அடுத்தவர் சொற்களை ஆராயாமல் நம்பி
விடுக்கலாகுமோ இன்ப நுகர்ச்சியை?

மறுமை, மறுமை என்று மறுகி மயங்கி
இம்மைப் பயனை இழந்து விடாதீர்!

பெண்களுடன் வாழ்வதே வாழ்வு!
பெண்கள் இல்லாத வாழ்வே வறுமை!

பெண்கள் தரும் இன்பமே இன்பம்.
இது இல்லாவிடில் வாழ்வே துன்பம்.

இது சிற்றின்பம் என்பது அறிவின்மை.
இது பேரின்பம் என்பதே அறிவுடைமை!”

சாத்தான் வேதம் ஓதி சாதிப்பதைச் செய்ய
சாத்திரம் படித்த குருவால் முடியாதா!

தவம் செய்யும் எண்ணத்தைத் துறந்தான்;
தனிப் பெரும் போகத்தை விழைந்தான்;

அளித்தான் அரசுரிமையை ஜெயந்தனுக்கு;
களித்தான் சிற்றின்பக் கடலில் மூழ்கியபடி.

அரசு செலுத்திய ஜெயந்தன் ஒருநாள்
குருவுடம் கேட்டான் இந்தக் கேள்வியை!

“அவுணர்களால் துன்புற்று பலகாலம்
தேவர்கள் துவண்டது ஏன் எனக் கூறுவீர்.”

“தக்கன் சிவனை அவமதித்துச் செய்த
தகாத யாகத்தில் பங்கு கொண்டதால்.”

“விவரங்களை விளக்கமாகக் கூறுங்கள்!”
வியாழனிடம் வேண்டினான் ஜெயந்தன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

தேவ கண்டம் முற்றுப் பெற்றது.

5 # 5b. The kulaguru succeeds!

Vyaazha bhagavan continued his weird sermon further!

“When the senses are controlled and the mind is conquered, the joy of liberation starts. This is what the sanyasins tell us. But one should live one’s life the way one’s mind dictates.

Liberation can be compared to the nectar spilled on a parched dry land! Why do you believe those words that can never be verified? Thinking about the next birth – which no one knows for sure – should you give up the joys in your present life?

Women add spice to our lives. The true pleasure is that given by a woman. The real poor man is one who has no place for a woman in his life. People may call it as a mean pleasure but be sure that this is the greatest pleasure in life.”

It was a case of Satan reciting the scripture for his purpose and the evil teachings took deep root in Indra’s mind. He made his son Jayanthan the new king of heaven and dived into a life overflowing with pleasures of all kinds.

Jayanthan approached his kulaguru and put him this question. “Why did the Deva have to suffer in the hands of Soorapadman for a very long time?”

“The Deva part took in the yagna performed by Dakshan humiliating Siva. As a punishment they had to suffer in the hands of Soorapadman.”

“Sire! please tell me all the happenings in great detail!” Jayanthan requested Vyaazhan.

Deva kaandam comes to an end here.

The next Kaandam will be Daksha Kaandam.

15b. திருமணப் பேச்சு

“உத்தமமானதே இந்த சம்பந்தம் என் ராணி!
பத்மாவதி யாரென்பதை மறந்து விடாதே நீ!

மஹாலக்ஷ்மியின் அம்சமே நம் பத்மாவதி;
மஹாவிஷ்ணுவை மனத்தால் வரித்தவள்.

சம்மதம் பெறுவோம் நமது குலகுருவிடம்;
சம்மதம் தருவோம் பின் அந்த மாதரசியிடம்.”

தொண்டைமானை அழைத்தான் ஆகாசராஜன்,
விண்டான் நடந்துள்ள நிகழ்ச்சிகளை எல்லாம்.

“கேட்போம் குலகுருவிடம் அவரது அபிப்ராயம்
கேட்போம் நலம் விரும்பும் பிரதானிகளிடமும்.”

குலகுருவுக்குக் குதூகலம் கொப்பளித்தது!
“குமாரத்தியை மணம் செய் ஸ்ரீநிவாசனுக்கு!

வம்சம் அடைந்துவிடும் நற்கதியினை;
அம்சம் ஸ்ரீநிவாசன் மஹாவிஷ்ணுவின்.

வைகுந்தவாசனை அடைவதற்கு மருமகனாக,
வெகுபுண்ணியம் செய்தாய் முற்பிறவியில்!

நிலத்தில் கிடைத்தவள் நிலமகளே அல்லவா?
நிலமகள் மணாளன் அலைகடல் துயில்பவன்!”

பிரதானிகள் ஏற்றனர் இதனை மனமார.
பிரபுக்களும் ஏற்றனர் இதனை மனமார.

ஆடிப் பாடத் தொடங்கினாள் பத்மாவதி!
ஆனந்த வெள்ளத்தில் வகுள மாலிகை.

நிலவியது மகிழ்ச்சி அந்த அரண்மனையில்,
நிலவியது அமைதி பெற்றோரின் மனத்தில்.

பொன்னும் மணியும் அள்ளித் தந்தாள் அரசி.
“பின்னர் வரும் திருமணவோலை!” என்றாள்.

ஆசிகள் தந்தாள் பத்மாவதியை முத்தமிட்டு;
ஆவலுடன் காத்திருப்பான் ஸ்ரீநிவாசன் என;

அவசரமாகத் திரும்பினாள் வகுள மாலிகை;
அரசனும், அரசியும் வந்து வழியனுப்பினர்.

15b. The wedding alliance

The king Aakaasa Raajan was very pleased to hear of these developments . He told his queen, “Remember my dear, our Padmaavati is the amsam of Mahaa Lakshmi and she had decided to marry none other than Mahaa Vishnu? We will consult our kulaguru sage Sugar and then give our consent for this alliance. ”

He sent for his younger brother ThoNdaimaan and told him of the recent events. Kulaguru was overwhelmed with happiness to hear of the good news. He told the king Aakaasa Raajan,

“Get you princess wedded to Srinivaasan. He is the asmam of Mahaa Vishnu. You must have done a lot of good deeds in your past janma to get Sree Vishnu as your dear son in law.

The child who was found while ploughing the earth is Lakshmi Devi herself. Her consort can not be anyone other than Vishnu. ” The courtiers and prabhus also consented for this alliance.

Padmaavati began to sing and dance as was her custom before she got bitten by the love bug. VaguLa Maalika was very happy that her mission had been successful. There was happiness in the palace and peace in the minds of the king and the queen.

DharaNi Devi presented VaguLa Maalikaa with gold and gemstones. She promised to send the marriage invite later on. VaguLa Maalikaa embraced, kissed and blessed Padmaavati.

She knew that Srinivaasan would be waiting for her return very anxiously. She took leave of the king and the queen and they came with her to see her off.

6#10. தர்மத்தின் நியதி

“துன்பங்கள் ஏன் சூழ்ந்தன இந்திரனை?
இன்பத்தை இந்திரன் தொலைத்தது ஏன்?

சுவர்க்கத்தை விட்டு இந்திரன் ஓடியது ஏன்?
எவரும் அறியாது அவன் ஒளிந்திருந்தது ஏன் ?”

கேட்டான் மன்னன் ஜனமேஜயன் வியாசரிடம்
கூறினார் வியாசர் மன்னன் ஜனமேஜயனுக்கு.

“கர்மங்கள் மூன்று வகைப்படும் ஜனமேஜயனே!
சஞ்சிதம், பிராரப்தம், வர்த்தமானம் என்ற மூன்று.

பல ஜென்மங்களின் பாவ மூட்டை ஆகும் சஞ்சிதம்.
இந்த ஜன்மத்தில் துய்க்க வேண்டியது பிராரப்தம்.

அந்தந்த ஜன்மத்தின் வினைப் பயன் வர்த்தமானம்
இந்த நியதியிலிருந்து தப்ப முடியாது ஒருவரும்.

கர்மமே காரணம் நம் தேகத்தின் உற்பத்திக்கு;
கர்மம் பக்குவம் அடைகிறது ஒரு ஜன்மத்தில் .

அடைவான் தேவாம்சம் கொண்டவன் சம்பத்து;
படைப்பான் ருஷி அம்சம் கொண்டவன் காவியம்.

ஆவான் சிவபக்தனாக ருத்திர அம்சம் கொண்டவன்;
ஆவான் வேந்தனாக விஷ்ணு அம்சம் கொண்டவன்;

இந்திரன், யமன், அக்னி, குபேரனின் அம்சங்கள்
தந்து விடும் தலைமை, புகழ், வல்லமை, கோபம்.

அவதரித்தான் நரன் அர்ஜுனனாகப் பிற்காலத்தில்;
அடைந்தான் சொல்லொண்ணாத துன்பம் அர்ஜுன்;

பிறந்தான் ஒரு காட்டில், வாழ்ந்தான் ஒரு நாட்டில்;
திரிந்தான் காட்டில் வனவாசத்தில் பல ஆண்டுகள்!

பிறந்தான் நாராயணன் கிருஷ்ணனாகப் பிற்காலத்தில்;
பிறந்தான் அவன் சிறைச்சாலையில் கட்டுக் காவலில்.

துரத்தினர் கொல்வதற்கு பலவேறு அசுரர்கள் அவனை;
துரத்தினான் மிலேச்சன் துவாரகைக்குக் கிருஷ்ணனை;

நாசம் அடைந்தது யாதவ குலம் பிராமண சாபத்தால்;
நாம் எவருமே பெறுவதில்லை சுவாதீனம் மன்னனே!

அடைகின்றோம் ஜனன, மரணம் தெய்வாதீனத்தால்!
அடைகின்றோம் சுக, துக்கம் கர்ம வினைப் பயனால்!”

6#10. The Law of Karma
King Janamejayan asked sage vyaasaa a chain of doubts and questions now. “Why did Indra have to suffer so much? Why did he have to run away from heaven and hide himself?”

Sage Vyaasaa replied,” Karmaas fall into three categories namely the Sanchitam, Praarabdam and the varthamaanam. Sanchitam is the collection or the bundle of the karmas done by the jeeva over many births.

Praarabdam is what the jeeva is destined to suffer or enjoy in this particular birth. Varthamaanam is the Karmas accumulated by the jeeva in any particular birth. No body can escape for this Law of Karma and Law of Dharma.

Our birth and the body given to us are shaped by our Karmaa. Karmaa decides our life in this birth. A person who has the amsam of a Deva will acquire wealth. A person who had the amsam of Rushi, will write epics and puraanaas.

One who has the amsam of Rudra will become a devotee of Shiva. One who has the amsam of Vishnu will become a King. The amsams of Indra, Agni, Yamaa and Kubera will give a person the qualities of leadership, fame, valor and anger.

Naran was born as Arjunan a later birth. He suffered a lot as Arjunan. He was born in a forest and grew up in a city. He roamed in the forest for several years in vananvaasam. Naarayanan was born as Krishna in a prison under tight security.

Asuras chased him in his childhood in an effort to kill him. Kaala Yavana chased him to Dwaraka. Yadava race was doomed by the curse of a Brahmin.

None of us have freedom or independence . Our birth and death are due to the grace of God and the life in between the birth and death is controlled by our Karmaas.
