VENKATESA PURAANAM

3c. நாரணன்

கைலாசம் விடுத்த பின்பு பிருகு முனிவர்
வைகுந்தநாதனைச் சோதிக்க விரைந்தார்.

ஆனந்தமாகச சயனித்திருந்தார் நாரணன்
ஆதிசேஷன் மீது; லக்ஷ்மி பாதங்களை வருட.

தேவியின் பணிவிடையில் மெய்மறந்திருந்த
நாதன் உணரவில்லை பிருகுவின் வருகையை.

‘வேஷம் போடுகிறான் மாயவன் – இவன்
வேஷத்தைக் கலைக்கிறேன் இப்போதே!’

இரண்டு இடங்களில் அலட்சியம் செய்தனர்
இங்கும் அதுவே தொடருகின்றதே!’ என்று

நாரணன் மார்பில் ஓங்கி உதைத்தார் பிருகு,
“நாடகம் போதும் கண்டும் காணாதது போல!”

உதைத்த காலைப் பற்றினார் நாரயணன்,
உதைத்த போதும் சினம் கொள்ளவில்லை.

“கால் வலித்திருக்குமே முனிவரே! ” எனக்
கால் வலி போக அழுத்திவிட்டார் பாதத்தை.

“தூக்க மயக்கத்தில் இருந்து விட்டேன் நான்!
துயர் அடைந்தீரோ என்னை உதைத்ததால்?”

முனிவருகு ஏற்பட்ட திகைப்பு அளவற்றது!
‘கனிவுக்கும் ஓர் எல்லையே இல்லையோ?

உதைத்த காலைச் சபித்திருக்க வேண்டும்
உதைத்த காலை உபசரிக்கிறாரே!’ என்று

“கண்டு கொண்டேன் நான் சத்துவ குணனை
கண்டு கொண்டேன் நான் உத்தம குணனை!”

பாதங்களில் விழுந்து வணங்கினார் முனிவர்.
பாதகத்தை மன்னிக்க வேண்டினார் முனிவர்.

யாகசாலை திரும்பினர் வெற்றியுடன் – மூன்று
லோகத்திலும் சத்துவகுணனை கண்டறிந்ததால்.

#3c. NaaraayaNan

Brugu reached Vaikuntam to test NaaraayaNan’s temperament. He was sleeping on Aadhiseshan and Lakshmi Devi was massaging his feet gently. He did not realize that Brugu had arrived there.

Brugu had already been insulted in Satya Lokam and Kailaasam. He thought the same thing was going to happen here since NaaraayaNan ignored him. He got angry thinking to himself,”He too is enacting a drama. I will expose him now!” and kicked hard on NaaraayaNan’s chest.

NaaraayaNan must have gone into a fit of temper and cursed the feet that kicked him. But he apologized for not welcoming the rushi. He said, “I am sorry I was half asleep and did not know you had come. Your feet must be feeling the strain of kicking my hard chest!” He massaged the sage’s feet to relieve the pain and strain.

Brugu could not believe himself. Is there no limit for the patience and mercy of NaaraayaNan? He fell at God’s feet and begged for pardon. He felt happy that he had succeeded in his mission and found the most satvic among the trimoorthis. He returned to the yaaga saalaa happily.

5#33e. சக்தியின் லீலைகள் (5)

வினவினான் மன்னன் ஜனமேஜயன்
முனிவர் வியாசரிடம் ஒரு கேள்வி.

“கூறுங்கள் மா முனிவரே எனக்கு விரிவாக;
பராசக்தியின் தன்மை வடிவத்தை நன்றாக.

பராசக்தியின் வலிமையை, வடிவத்தை;
பராசக்தியின் உற்பத்திக்கு மூல காரணத்தை.

“அறிவாய் ஜனமேஜயனே இந்த உண்மையை;
அநாதி ஆனவள் அன்னை பராசக்தி – அதனால்

உற்பத்தி என்பதே இல்லை சக்தி தேவிக்கு!
உற்பத்தியாகும் முன்பு இல்லாத பொருட்களே!

நித்தியமானவள் அன்னை பராசக்தி மட்டுமே!
சத்தியமானவள் அன்னை பராசக்தி மட்டுமே!

காரணங்களுக்கெல்லாம் காரணம் சக்தியே!
காணும் இடமெல்லாம் நீக்கமற நிறைபவள்!

சக்தி குறைந்து விட்டால் மனிதன் வீழ்வான்!
சக்தி நிறைந்து விட்டால் மனிதன் வாழ்வான்!

சித்ரூபமாக விளங்குகின்றாள் சக்தி ஜீவனிடம்;
சித்ரூபமே அவளது உண்மைத் தன்மை உருவம்.

துதிக்கின்றனர் சித்ரூபிணியைத் தேவர் மனிதர்;
உதிக்கின்றாள் துயர் தீர்க்கப் பல வடிவங்களில்.

சுவாதீனப்பட மாட்டாள் தேவர்களுக்குச் சக்தி!
வசப்படமாட்டாள் காலத் தத்துவத்துக்குச் சக்தி!

தனியாக ஆடுகிறாள் பிரபஞ்சநாடகத்தை,
தனியாக ஆட்டுவிக்கிறாள் ஜீவராசிகளை.

ரஞ்சிக்கின்றான் சிவன் இவள் லீலைகளை;
ரஞ்சித்தபின் அழிக்கிறாள் அனைத்தையும்.

5#33e. The Lelaas of Shakti Devi (5)

king Janamejayan asked one more question now to sage Vyaasaa. “Please explain to me the swroopam of Paraa shakti. I want to know her strength and the reason for her being created”

Sage Vyaasaa said, “Please understand and remember this oh king! Devi has neither a beginning nor an end. So there is no question of her being created. She is eternal. She is the truth. She is the cause behind all the other causes.

She pervades everywhere. If Shakti gets reduced, a man becomes weak. If Shakti gets increased, a man becomes strong.

Shakthi exhibits as ChithroopiNi. The Devaa, the humans all worship her as Chithroopini. She takes up other forms to put an end to the sufferings of the good and the gentle people. She can’t be commanded by the Devaas. She can’t be controlled by the Time Factor.

She plays this cosmic drama all by herself. She controls everything created by her.Siva enjoys watching her cosmic play.When she get tired she ruins everything and starts all over again.”

12i. அரிமுகன் போர்.

முருகன் எய்தான் ஒரு கணையை;
அரிமுகன் பெருக்கினான் குருதியை!

மார்பில் நுழைந்து ஊடுருவி
முதுகில் வெளிவந்தது கணை.

பெருத்த துவாரத்தின் வழியே
வருந்திய பூதர் வெளிவந்தனர்.

புறத்தே வரும் பூதர்கள் கூட்டமா?
புற்றிலிருந்து வரும் கரையான்களா?

மாயப் பாசத்தில் பிணைக்கப்பட்டு
ஆதவன் மலையில் விழுந்து கிடக்கும்

பூதர்களை மீட்க எண்ணிய முருகன்
கோதில்லாத கணையிடம் சொன்னான்,

“மீதம் இல்லாமல் பூதர்களைக் கொணர்க!”
கதிரவன் எழும் மலையை அடைந்தது;

அறுத்து விடுவித்தது மாய பாசத்தை!
உறங்கியவர் போல் எழுந்தனர் பூதர்.

கணையே மாறியது ஒரு விமானமாக!
கணத்தில் சேர்த்தியது முருகனிடம்.

நாண் ஒலியில் தளர்ந்து விழுந்தவர்
மீண்டும் எழுந்தனர் போர் புரிய.

கணைகளை எய்தான் கந்தக் கடவுள்,
கணைகள் பறந்தன காற்றெனக் கடுகி!

நஞ்சினை நிகர்தவை சில கணைகள்;
நமனை நிகர்த்தவை சில கணைகள்,

இருளை நிகர்தவை சில கணைகள்,
இடியை நிகர்தவை சில கணைகள்,

பாம்பை ஒத்தவை சில கணைகள்,
பானுவை நிகர்தவை சில கணைகள்,

அவுணர்கள் படை அழிந்துபட அங்கே
அரிமுகன் தனியன் ஆகி நின்றான்!

KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

4 # 12.i. The war between Murugan and Singamukhan.

Murugan shot an arrow which pieced through Singamukhan’s chest and came out of his back. The asura started bleeding heavily. Through the hole the demons swallowed by him emerged, resembling the termites coming out of an ant hill.

Murugan wanted to save and bring back the warriors bound and carried away by the paasam of maayaa. He shot an arrow an ordered it to bring back all his army.

It sped fast, broke loose the paasam of Maaya. The arrow transformed itself into a vimaanam and brought back the warriors safely to Murugan.

The asuras who had swooned on hearing the terrible noise made by the bow, now came to their senses and started to fight.

Murugan shot several arrows. Some of them were poisonous, a few others were like yama in ending the life of the enemy. A few were like the thunder and a few others like perfect darkness.

A few scorched the enemies like the sun and fire. The entire army of Singamukhan was destroyed in no time and he stood all alone in the battle field.

4. லக்ஷ்மியின் கோபம்

' ஏகாந்தமாக இருந்த வேளையில் உள்ளே
வேகமாக வந்ததோடு நிற்கவில்லை பிருகு!

உதைத்தார் என் இருப்பிடமான மார்பினை.
உதைத்த காலுக்கு நாரணனின் உபசாரம் வேறு!'

வெகுண்டு எழுந்தாள் அமர்ந்த நிலையில் இருந்து.
வெலவெலத்துப் போனார் நாரணன் அது கண்டு!

பதறிய விஷ்ணு சாந்தப்படுத்தினார் லக்ஷ்மியை.
உதறித் தள்ளினாள் கோபம் குறையாத லக்ஷ்மி.

‘அசுத்தம் செய்தான் என் இருப்பிடத்தை பிருகு!
அதற்கு அவனைக் கொண்டாடினீர்கள்!” என்றாள்.

“அவமதிக்கும் எண்ணம் இல்லை பிருகுவுக்கு!
அதீத பக்தி தந்த உரிமையில் உதைத்தான்” என,

“பக்தன் அவன் என்றால் பக்தையே நானும்.
பக்தன் ஒரு பக்தையை அவமதிக்கலாமா?

வாசஸ்தலம் களங்கப் பட்டது பிருகுவால்
வசிக்க முடியாது மீண்டும் அங்கு என்னால்.”

எத்தனை சொல்லியும் கேட்கவில்லை அவள்.
“என்னிருப்பிடத்தை உதைத்தான்! ” என்றாள்

வைகுந்தம் விடுத்தாள் லக்ஷ்மிதேவி உடனே.
வையகம் அடைந்தாள் தவக் கோலம் பூண்டிட.

கரவீரபுரம் சென்று அடைந்தாள் – அங்கு
பரந்தாமனின் பாதங்களை தியானித்தாள்

எப்படி இருக்குமோ லக்ஷ்மி இல்லாத இடம்
அப்படியே இருந்தது வைகுந்தம் இப்போது.

சோபை மறைந்தது; சோகம் நிறைந்தது;
சூனியமாக இருந்தது காணும் இடங்கள்!

வைகுண்ட விடுத்தான் நாரணனும்;
வையகம் அடைந்தான் நாரணனும் ;

சேஷாச்சலம் இருந்தது கரவீரபுரத்தின் அருகே
சேஷாச்சலத்தைத் தேர்வு செய்தார் நாரணன்.

#4. Lakshmi Devi’s anger

Brugu not only disturbed their privacy but also kicked Vishnu hard on his chest – in the same place where Lakshmi lived. She got annoyed when Vishnu massaged the foot that had kicked him.

She got up in anger and haste. Vishnu felt concerned by her anger. He tried to console her saying, “Brugu is our son and a great bhakta. He did this out of his closeness with us and not to insult me or you.”

“I am also a great bhakta of you. Is one bhakta allowed to insult another bhakta? I can not live in the place which has been polluted by his rude kick. I have to go away from here.” Lakshmi Devi was adamant.

Nothing could make her change her mind. Lakshmi Devi quit Vaikuntham and went to the earth. She reached Karaveerapuram and started to meditate on Vishnu.

Vaikuntham was a palce deserted by Lakshmi and lost its auspiciousness and glory. Vishnu could not bear the separation and the lack of auspiciousness prevailing there.

He too decided to go down to earth. He chose Seshaachalam which was very near to Karaveera puram.

5#34. நவராத்திரி விரதம்

சுரதமன்னன் அறிந்தான் பராசக்தியின் பெருமைகளை;
சுமேதஸ் முனிவரிடம் கேட்டான் ஆராதனை விதிகளை.

“காம, மோக்ஷ, ஞான, வைராக்கியம்,தருவாள் தேவி.
கடைப் பிடிக்க வேண்டிய ஆராதனை விதிகள் இவை.

ஆராதனை செய்து முடித்த பிறகு செய்ய வேண்டும்
பாராயணம் தேவியின் மூன்று சரிதங்களையேனும்.

உற்சாகத்தோடு செய்ய வேண்டும் தேவிவழிபாடு
உபவாசம் இருக்க வேண்டும் விதி முறைப்படி.

சிறந்த திதிகள் அஷ்டமி திதியும், நவமி திதியும்.
சிறந்தது சதுர்த்தசியில் பிராம்மண போஜனம்.

நான்கு வர்ணத்தவரும் நலம் பெறலாம் செய்து
நவராத்திரி பூஜையைத் தம் சக்திக்கு ஏற்றபடி.

கருமித்தனம் கூடாது தேவியின் வழிபாட்டில்;
கன்னியருக்கு அளிக்க வேண்டும் மனம் மகிழ

குங்குமம், சந்தனம், புஷ்பம், மேலும் பரிசாக
மங்கலப் பொருட்கள், ஆடை, ஆபரணங்கள்!

விரதங்களில் சிறந்தது நவராத்திரி விரதம்;
விரதம் கடைப் பிடித்துத் தேவியைத் துதிப்பீர்!

அரசுப் பதவி மீளும்; பகைவர் அழிவர்;
அரச போகங்களுடம் மீண்டும் வாழ்வாய்.

மகா மாயையை வணங்குவாய் வணிகனே
மனம் திருந்திவிடுவர் உன் குடும்பத்தினர்.

கொண்டாடுவர் உன்னை உன்னதமாக;
உண்டாகும் இனிய இல்வாழ்வு மீண்டும்.”

5#34. Navaraatri Vratham

King Suratha and merchant Samaadhi understood the greatness of Devi. They wanted to know the rules of worshipping Devi. Sage Sumedas said,

” Devi can bestow upon us anything we seek – be it kaamam, moksham, gnaanam or vairaagyam. She must be worshipped as per the rules. her aaraadhana must be followed by the paaraayana of atleast three of Devi’s stories.

The vratham must be observed as prescribed. Her worhip must be accompanied by sincere enthusiasm. Ashtami and Navamai are best thithis for Devi worship. Brahmins must be fed on the Chaturdasi day.

All the four varnas can benefit by worshipping Devi during Navaraatri according to their affordabolity. People must not be stingy while performing the pujas.

Young girls must be presented with kumkum, sandal, flowers, new clothes, ornaments and other gifts to make them happy.

You both do Devi aadraadhana during Navraatri. King Suratha! You will regain your kingdom and your rulership. Samaadhi! your family members will change in their temperament and accept you with respect and love once again.

12j. அரிமுகன் முடிவு

அறுக்க அறுக்க மீண்டும் முளைத்தன!
அரிமுகன் உறுப்புகள் வியப்பை அளித்தன!

ஓராயிரம் தலைகளும், ஈராயிரம் கரங்களும்
அறுக்கப்பட்டன ஆயிரத்து எட்டு முறைகள்.

நிலத்தில் கைகள் விழும் முன்னரே
முளைத்தன நீண்ட கரங்கள் வேகமாக.

முளைத்த கரங்களால் அரிமுகன் கீழே
விழுந்த கரங்களை எடுத்துப் போரிட்டான் .

ஆயிரம் கணைகளால் ஆயிரம் தலைகள்
அறுபட்டபோதும் மீண்டும் முளைத்தன.

வெட்டுண்ட உறுப்புக்கள் பறந்து திரிந்தன
விண்ணிலும், மண்ணிலும், திசைகளிலும்.

கண்டவர் மயங்கி விழுந்தனர் அச்சத்தால்
கந்தன் ஓர் உபாயம் கண்டு கொண்டான்.

ஒரு சிரம், இருகரம் தவிர்த்து விட்டு
பிற உறுப்புக்களை அறுத்தான் முருகன் .

முளைக்கத் தொடங்கிய புதிய உறுப்புகள்
முருகனின் அதட்டலால் அடங்கி விட்டன.

மீண்டும் முளைக்காத உடல் உறுப்புகளால்
மண்டியது சினம் அரிமுக அவுணனுக்கு.

முருகன் குலிசப்படையைப் பணித்தான்,
“அரிமுகன் உயிரை உண்டு வருவாய்!”

அறுமுகனின் குலிசம் விரைந்து சென்றது.
அரிமுகன் உயிரைக் குடித்து விட்டது.

தேவகங்கையில் மூழ்கி எழுந்தபின்
தேவர்கள் மகிழ முருகன் கை சேர்ந்தது.

போரைப் பார்த்தபடி உயரே நின்றிருந்த
சூரபத்மன் மருண்டான், தன் இளவல்

மயங்கினானா? அன்றி மாய்ந்தானா?
தயங்கி நின்றவனுக்குச் செய்தி வந்தது.

ஓலமிட்டுப் புலம்பினான் சூரபத்மன்
தாளமுடியாத துயரச் சுமையினால்.

4 # 12. j. The fall of Singamukhan.

The hands and heads which were cut off by Murugan grew back immediately on Singamukhan body. Murugan was surprised by this. The thousand hands severed by one thousand arrows fell down but new hands grew back so that Singamukhan took the severed hands and fought using them as weapons!

The heads also grew back immediately. Murugan chopped off the thousand heads and two thousand hands one thousand and eight times. But every time every limb grew back. The limbs cut off flew in the sky, on the land and in every direction, frightening the onlookers so that they fainted and fell down.

Murugan decided to put an end to this. He cut off all the heads but one and all the hands but two. When the new limbs tried to grow back, he made a threatening sound which put them out of action and they did not grow back again. Singamukhan became very angry now.

Murugan ordered his kulisam “Go and finish off Singamukhan!” His kulisam sped fast and killed Singamukhan. It went and took a holy dip in the Deva Ganga and returned to the hands of Murugan.

Soorapadman who was watching the fight from a high tower was confused as to whether his younger brother just fainted or fell dead. Then the messengers brought the bad news. He shed bitter tears unable to bear his sorrow.

5a. எறும்புப் புற்று

நாற்புறங்களிலும் மலைச் சிகரங்கள்;
ஊற்றெடுத்து ஓடும் இனிய சுனைகள்;

சலசலத்து ஓடும் அழகிய சிற்றோடைகள்;
கலகலப்பால் மகிழ்வூட்டும் பறவையினங்கள் ;

பள்ளத்தாக்குகள் மலைகளின் இடையிடையில்;
உள்ளம் கொள்ளை கொள்ளும் இயற்கையெழில்;

தெளிந்த நீர்த் தடாகத்தைக் கண்டார் நாரணன்;
விளங்கிய ஆலயத்தையும் கண்டார் நாரணன்;

அழகிய மண்டபங்கள், விமானம் கொண்ட,
ஆதி வராஹ மூர்த்தியின் அழகிய ஆலயம்.

தடாகத்தில் நீராடி வராஹப் பெருமானிடம்
தங்குவதற்கு அனுமதி வேண்டினார் நாரணன்;

“எங்கு விருப்பமோ அங்கு தங்கலாம்!”எனத்
தங்கு தடையின்றி அனுமதித்தார் வராஹர்.

“தங்குவேன் இங்கேயே கலியுகம் முழுவதும்.
தடாகத்தில் நீராடித் தங்களைத் தொழுத பிறகே

இங்கு வரும் பக்தர்கள் அனைவரும் என்னையும்
இங்கே தொழ வரவேண்டும் இனிமேல்” என்றார்.

நாரணன் சேஷாசலம் சென்றதை அறிந்து
நாரணனைத் தேடி ஓடினான் பிரம்மதேவன்.

பிரிவுத்துயர் தாங்காமல் வருந்தி நாரணன்
திரிவதைக் கண்டு வருந்தினான் பிரமன்.

வெட்ட வெளியில், கட்டாந்தரையில்,
படுத்து உறங்கினார் வைகுந்தவாசன்.

அமைக்க விரும்பினான் இருப்பிடம் ஒன்றை
அமைத்தான் நிழல் தரும் புளிய மரத்தினை.

அமைத்தான் அதன் கீழ் எறும்புப் புற்றினை
அமைத்தான் இறங்கிச் செல்லப் படிக்கட்டு.

அமைத்தார் வேலைப்பாடுகள் நிறைந்த
அழகிய மண்டபத்தினை புற்றினுள் பிரமன்.

5a. The anthill

The place was surrounded by many mountains. Sweet water streams were formed there and flowed down with a pleasant gurgling sound. The birds sang various sweet songs. There were valleys in between the mountains and the scenic beauty was captivating.

Naaraayan saw the pond with sparkling clear water. He also saw the ancient and beautiful temple of Varaaha moorthy. He took a holy dip in the pond and asked for the permission of the prevailing deity Varaaha moorthy to stay there.

Varaaha moorthy was happy and allowed to Naaraayan to stay wherever he wished to stay. Naaraayan said,

“I wish to stay on here till the end of Kali yuga. All the devotees who come here must take a holy dip in the pond and worship you first. They can come to see me afterwards. ”

Brahma learned that Naaraayan had gone to live on the earth. He ran in search of Naaraayan. Brahma was sad to see Naarayan badly shaken by the separation from Lakshmi Devi. He was pained to see Naayraayan sleeping on the hard earth in the open area. He wished to make a comfortable home for Naaraayan.

He created a Tamarind tree which would give shade from the hot sun. He created a spacious anthill below the tree. There was a beautiful mandapam inside the anthill and a flight of steps to go into it.

5#35a. சக்தி ஆராதனை (1)

மனம் மிக மகிழ்ந்தனர் சுரதனும், சமாதியும்;
முனிவரை வணங்கினர் கால்களில் விழுந்து.

“உபதேசம் கேட்டுப் பெற்றோம் பிறவிப் பயன்;
உபதேசம் செய்ய வேண்டும் நவாக்ஷரத்தையும்.

தியானிப்போம் தேவியை யாம் நாம ஜபத்துடன்,
தியாகம் செய்வோம் அன்ன, பான, நித்திரைகளை.”

சுமேதஸ் முனிவர் உபதேசித்தார் நவாக்ஷரத்தை,
சுரதன், சமாதி பெற்றனர் பூரண மனத் தெளிவை.

அடைந்தனர் புண்ணிய நதிக்கரை ஒன்றினை;
அமர்ந்தனர் ஒன்றிய மனத்துடன் தியானத்தில்.

இடைவிடாது தியானித்தனர் தேவின் நமத்தை

தெளிவடைந்தது கலங்கிய மனம் மெதுவாக;
அளித்தனர் நன்றி வணக்கத்தை முனிவருக்கு.

ஆண்டுகள் மூன்று உருண்டோடின – செய்தனர்
அல்லும், பகலும், அனவரதமும் தேவி தியானம்,

தரிசனம் தந்தாள் பராசக்தி அவர்கள் கனவில்,
தரிசனம் மறைந்தது கண்களைத் திறந்ததும்!

உறுதி பூண்டனர் காண வேண்டும் அன்னையை;
புறக் கண்களாலும் காணவேண்டும் திருவுருவை.

காட்சி தர மறுத்தாள் தேவி இப்போது – தேவியின்
காட்சி பெறுவதற்கு எதுவும் செய்யத் துணிந்தனர்.

அமைத்தனர் ஒரு ஹோம குண்டம் இருவரும்;
அளித்தனர் தம் உடல் உதிரத்தையே நெய்யாக.

பெய்தனர் தம் உடல் பாகங்களை அக்னியில்;
பெய்தனர் சிந்துகின்ற உதிரத்தை அக்னியில்.

5#35a. Shakti Aaraadhana (1)

Suratha and Samaadhi became very happy and thanked the Sage Sumedas profoundly. Now they had another request. “Sire! Can you please teach us Devi’s Navaaksharam so that we can do her aaraadhana in the proper manner?”

Sage Sumedas obliged willingly. King Suratha and Merchant Samaadhi went away to the bank of a river. They sat in deep meditation and did japam of Devi’s Navaaksharam for three long years with unified concentration.

The read Devi’s charitham everyday. Their troubled minds settled down and became calm as the days passed by.

One night Devi appeared in their dream. When they opened their eyes Devi vanished. They were unhappy that they could not see her with their Physical eyes.

They were determined to have her darshan at any cost. They set up a homa kundam and started offering their own body parts and the flowing blood in it

13a. சூரபத்மன்

“ஆயிரத்தெட்டு அண்டங்களில் உள்ள
அவுண மள்ளர்களை அழைத்து வருக!”

நால்வகைப் படைகளுடன் அவுணர்கள்
நிலவுலகுக்கு வந்தனர் விரைந்து.

அளவு கடந்த மக்கள் கூட்டத்தால்
ஆதவன் ஒளிக்கதிர் மங்கி விட்டது.

நடுங்கினான் அக்னி, வியர்த்தான் வாயு,
நடுங்கியது நிலவுலகு, வற்றின கடல்கள்.

மண்ணிலும், விண்ணிலும் அவுணர்கள்;
திக்குகளிலும், திசைகளிலும் மள்ளர்கள்.

காலைக் கடன்களை முடித்தான் சூரன்;
ஆடை அணிகலன்களைப் புனைந்தான்;

தெய்வப் படைக்கலன்களை நிறைத்தான்
தெய்வத் தேர் ஆகிய இந்திரஞாலத்தில்.

அரிமாக் கொடியை உடையது அது.
அரிய தேரில் ஏறினான் சூரபத்மன்.

விரட்ட வல்லது பகைவரை அது.
பிரமன் அழிந்தாலும் அழியாதது அது.

சூரபத்மனுடன் வேள்வித் தீயினில்
ஆரவாரத்துடன் தோன்றியது அது.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

4 # 13.a. Soorapadman.

“Send for all the asura warriors living in the various worlds!” Soorapadman ordered his messengers. All the asuras came down to the earth with their chaturanga sena immediately.

The earth became so crowded that the light of the Sun became dim. Agni shivered and Vayu sweated. The earth trembled and the seas dried up.
Asuras were to be seen everywhere.

Soorapadman got ready early in the morning. He wore his ornaments and armor. He filled up the divine chariot Indragnaalam with the divine asthras and sasthras.

He got into the chariot which had appeared from the yagna fire along with him. That chariot was capable of driving away the enemies. It was indestructible. It had the image of a lion in its flag.

5b. இடைப் பெண்

நாரணனுக்குப் பிடித்திருந்தது புதிய மண்டபம்;
நிரந்தரமாகத் தங்க விரும்பினான் அங்கேயே.

‘வைகுந்தம் விடுத்து விண்ணிலிருந்து நாரணன்
வையகம் வந்ததை அறிவிக்க வேண்டும் உடனே’.

கைலாசநாதனிடம் விரைந்து சென்றான் பிரமன்.
“சேஷாச்சலத்தில் உள்ளான் நாரணன்” என்றான்.

நாரணனுக்கு உதவிட ஆவல் கொண்டனர் ,
பிரமனும், பிரானும் விரைந்தனர் வையகம்.

சிறு பிணக்கினால் நாரணனிடமிருந்து
பிரிந்து சென்ற லக்ஷ்மியிடம் சென்றனர்.

கரவீரபுரம் வந்த பரமேச்வரன், பிரமனை
வரவேற்றாள் லக்ஷ்மிதேவி மனமுவந்து.

“தாங்கள் பிரிந்து வந்து விட்டதால் நாரணன்
தானும் வந்து விட்டார் இப்போது வையகம்.

அனாதை போல அலைந்து திரிகின்றார்
வனாந்தரங்களிலும், மலைச்சரிவுகளிலும்!

வராஹ பெருமான் கோவில் தடாகத்தருகே
இருப்பிடம் ஒன்றை அமைத்துவிட்டேன்.

ஆகாரத்துக்குச் செய்ய வேண்டும் ஒரு ஏற்பாடு.
அரனும், நானும் வைத்துள்ளோம் ஒரு திட்டம்.

மாறி விடுவோம் நாங்கள் இருவரும் உடனே
மடி சுரக்கும் ஜாதிப் பசுவாகவும், கன்றாகவும்!

தடை சொல்லாமல் தாங்களும் உதவ வேண்டும்;
இடைப் பெண்ணாக மாறிவிட வேண்டும் நீங்கள்.

சேஷாசலத்தின் அருகே சந்திரகிரியை ஆளும்
சோழ ராஜனிடம் விற்று விடுங்கள் எங்களை!”

சந்திரகிரியை நோக்கிப் புறப்பட்டாள் லக்ஷ்மி தேவி,
விந்தையான பசு, கன்றுடன் இடைப்பெண்ணாக மாறி.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#5b. Lakshmi Devi

Naaraayan liked the mandapam in the anthill and wished to stay on there. Brahma had to tell Siva that Naaraayan also had chosen to live on the earth. He rushed to Kailash and told Siva, “Naaraayan also lives on earth now!”

Siva and Brahma wanted to help Naaraayan. They went to Karaveera puram to meet Lakshmi Devi. She welcomed them heartily. Brahma told her,” After you left Vaikuntham, Naaraayan could not stand the separation. He too has come down to live on the earth.

He roams around in the forests and on the slopes of the hills. He has no place to stay and no one to take care of him. I have arranged for a place for his stay. Now we have to arrange for his food.

I have a plan. I and Siva will change into a cow and its calf. You too please change into the owner of the cow and the calf and sell us to the Chozha king of Chandragiri .”

Lakshmi Devi agreed to oblige and help them as requested by them. She changed into a woman who owned the cow and the calf and went towards Chandragiri.
