3 # 21j. Singamukhan concurs.

 Singamukhan became very sad on hearing Soorapadman’s cruel words.

'I gave him good advice and I was called as a fool. I spoke to him of dharma and I was called an ignorant person. It is true that one who tries to advice a fool is himself a fool.

He is so much bloated with ego. There is no way of saving him now. Who can conquer fate? Whatever is destined to happen will happen!

The time limit given by Lord Siva is over. Surely his son will destroy Soorapadman. There is no point in my living after the death of Soorapadman. It is far better that I give up my life before he does'.

He paid obeisance to Soorapadman and said, “Please forgive my foolishness in disobeying your order. Now let me go to the battle field”

Soorapadman embraced him and said, “So you wanted to test my reaction by speaking all those words! You may get ready for the battle. Take a large army with you!”

5#19a. மஹிஷாசுர மர்த்தனி (1)

இந்திரனும், தேவர்களும் துதிக்கலாயினர்
தொந்தரவு செய்த மஹிஷனை அழித்ததற்கு.

“மகேஸ்வரி தாயே! லோக மாதா நீயே!
முறையாக முத்தொழில் செய்பவள் நீ !

மும் மூர்த்திகளின் முச்சக்தியும் நீ – தாமே
மும் மூர்த்திகள் இயங்க இயலாதவர்கள்.

புகழ், அறிவு, நினைவு, மட்டுமன்றி
கதி, கருணை, தயை, சிரத்தை நீயே!

பூமாதேவி, கமலை, ஜயை மட்டுமன்றி
புஷ்டி, கலை, விஜயை, கிரிஜை நீயே!

புத்தி, உமை, ரமை, பிரபுத்வம் மற்றும்
வித்தை, துஷ்டி, க்ஷமை, காந்தி, மேதை நீ!

அனைத்தும் நீயே! ஸ்வாஹா தேவி நீயே!
அனைவருக்கும் ஆனந்தம் தருபவள் நீயே!

காப்பாய் நம்புபவரையும், நம்பாதவரையும்!
காப்பாய் பயனுள்ள, பயனற்றவர்களையும்!

சுகத்தைத் தரும் ஞான வித்தையும் நீயே!
துக்கத்தைத் தரும் அவித்தையும் நீயே!

பிறவிப் பிணியைத் தருபவளும் நீயே!
பிறவிப் பிணியைத் தீர்ப்பவளும் நீயே!

சுகம் தருபவள் நீயே என்று உணராமல்
சுகபோகிகள் தொழுவதில்லை உன்னை!

சரணடைகின்றோம் உன்னிடம் தேவர்கள்
சரணடைகின்றனர் உன்னிடம் முனிவர்கள்

மும் மூர்த்திகளை உலகத்தினர் தொழுவது
முச்சக்தியை நீ அவர்களுக்குத் தருவதனால்.”

5#19a. Mahishaasura Mardhani (1)

Indra and the other Devaas started praising Devi’s greatness. They were thankful to her for destroying the troublesome Mahishaasuran.

“You are Maheswari! You are the mother of the world! You are responsible for the three fold activities of creating, protecting and destroying. You bestow energy and power to the Trinity. Without your help, they are incapable of doing anything by themselves.

You are Fame, Buddhi, Memory, Final abode, Mercy, Sympathy, Enthusiasm, Mother earth, Lakshmi Devi, Victory, Pushti, Kala, Vijaya, Girija, Uma, Rama, Thushti, Kshamai, Kaanti and Medha.

You are the Swahaa Devi! You are the giver of happiness and bliss.You protect both the believers and the non believers. You protect the useful people as well as the useless people.

You give us true knowledge and liberate us from samsaaraa. You make us ignorant and bind us in samsaaraa. Those who indulge in pleasure do not realize that you are the giver of the bliss and do not worship you.

The Devaa surrender to you.The rushis surrender to you.The Trinity are worshiped by the world merely because of the power you bestow on them to do their jobs as ordained by you.”
 
5#19b. மஹிஷாசுர மர்த்தனி (2)

“தேவர்களுக்குத் தேஜஸ் அளிப்பவள் நீயே!
யாவரும் லிங்கத்தைத் தொழுவது உன்னால்!

உன்னை ஒதுக்கிச் சிவனைத் தொழுபவர்கள்
என்ன சுகம் அடைவர் இம்மை மறுமையில்?

சாந்தர், சாதுக்கள், சத்துவர்கள் என்றும்
சார்ந்துள்ளனர் உன் திருவடிகளையே.

பக்தியுடன் யாகத்தில் தரும் அவிர்பாகம்,
சித்திக்கும் தேவர்களுக்கு உன் அருளால்.

ஸ்வாஹா தேவி நீயேயன்றோ – உந்தன்
ஸ்வபாவத்தை அறியாதவர் அறிவிலிகள்.

அழித்தாய் மஹிஷனை! ஒழித்தாய் அச்சத்தை!
அளித்தாய் புகழை! அளிப்பாய் கருணையை ”

கூறினாள் தேவி மிருதுவாக தேவர்களிடம்
மாறாத இளம் புன்னகை பூத்த முகத்துடன்,

“எப்போதெல்லாம் ஆபத்துகள் விளையுமோ
அப்போதெல்லாம் அவற்றிலிருந்து காப்பேன்!”

உறுதிமொழி அளித்தாள் கருணை மிக்க தேவி
உலகத்தவருக்கும், அமரருக்கு அளித்த போதே!

“காத்தாய் எங்களை மஹிஷனை வதைத்து;
காக்கும் திருவடிகளில் நீங்காத பக்தியைத் தா!

அன்னை நீ! உன் அறியாத பிள்ளைகள் யாம்;
முன் பின் சிந்தியாமல் செய்வோம் தவறுகள்;

பிழை பொறுத்து அருள வேண்டும் தாயே – உன்
பிள்ளைகள் அறியாமல் செய்யும் பிழைகளை நீயே

உள்ளன இரு பறவைகள் ஜீவனின் உடலில்;
உள்ளன பரமாத்மா ஜீவாத்மா என்றவாறு.

உண்டு மூன்றாவது பறவை மித்திரன்;
பண்டு தொட்டு மன்னித்து வருகின்றது.

மித்திரன் ஆவாய் நித்தியமும் நீயே!
சத்தியமாகச் சரணடைய வேண்டும்!

மன மொழி மெய்களால் உன்னை என்றும்
மறவாமல் தொழத் திருவருள் புரிவாய்!”

திருவருள் புரிந்தாள் தேவி அமரருக்கு.
திருவுருவை மறைத்தாள் அமரருக்கு.

5#19b. Mahishaasura Mardhini (2)

The Devaas were praising Devi with gratitude and bhakti.

“You bestow tejas on the Devaas.Your amsam makes people worship the Sivalingam. A person who worships only Siva and not you will not get any good in this world or in the next world.

Saadhus, Sanths and Saatvic people worship your feet. You deliver the havisu offered in the homam to the Devaas. You are the Swahaa Devi Those who do not your nature are utter fools. You killed Mahishan and delivered us from fear. You have given us fame and now we beg for your mercy. ”

Devi replied in a soft voice with a sweet smile,”Whenever there is a danger threatening the good people I will protect them from that danger” Devi gave this promise to us humans also when she promised this to the Devaas.

Deva prayed, “Give us undiminished bhakti to your lotus feet Devi. You are our mother. We are your foolish children. We may make mistakes since we lack foresight and knowledge. Please forgive our sins and forget them.

There are two birds in a jeeva named as Paramatma and Jeevaatma. But there is also a third bird called Mithran. It forgives all the faults. You are the Mithran and we surrender to you. Please grant that we may always worship you using our mind, speech and body.

Devi granted them their wishes and disappeared.

காசிராஜன் நிச்சயித்தான் மகன் திருமணத்தை;
காசியபரை அழைத்தான் மணம் நடத்திவைக்க.

காசியபர் தொடங்கி விட்டார் சதுர்மாஸ்ய விரதம்;
காசியபர் அனுப்பினார் மகோற்கடரை அவனுடன்.

தூமட்சன் ஆவான் நராந்தகனின் சிறிய தகப்பன்;
தூமாட்சன் தவம் செய்தான் சூரியனைக் குறித்து.

ஆயுதம் அனுப்பினான் சூரியன் அசுரனுக்கு.
ஆயுதத்தைக் கைப் பற்றினார் மகோற்கடர்.

மேலும் வலுப்பெற்றது ஆயுதம் அவரிடம்;
தலையை அறுத்தார் கைவந்த ஆயுதத்தால்.

காசிராஜன் அஞ்சினார் நராந்தகன் பகையை;
காசிராஜன் அஞ்சினார் தூமாட்சன் மக்களை.

விரைந்தனர் தூமாட்சனின் இரு குமாரர்கள்
மறைந்திருந்து கொன்றவனை பழி தீர்ப்பதற்கு..

“சிறுவனே! எதற்குக் கொன்றாய் தந்தையை?
அறுத்துத் தள்ளுவோம் உன் தலையை நாங்கள்!

தவம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவரைக் கொல்ல
இவன் ஏவினானா?”காசி ராஜனைக் காட்டினர்.

கைகட்டி வாய் பொத்தி வணங்கி அவர்களிடம்
மெய் நடுங்கச் மெல்லச் சொன்னான் காசிராஜன்

“ஒன்றும் செய்து விடாதீர்கள் என்னை! நான்
சென்றேன் குல குருவைக் காசிக்கு அழைக்க.

விரதம் தொடங்கி விட்டதால் வர இயலாமல்
சிறுவன் இவனை அனுப்பினார் என்னுடன்.

விளையாட்டுப் பிள்ளை அறியாமல் செய்தது;
இளங்கன்று பயம் அறியாது” என்றான் அவன்.

#42a. Kaasi Raajan

Kaasi Raajan wanted to perform his son’s wedding. He went to invite his kulaguru Kashyapa to perform the wedding ceremonies. But Kashyapa had already started his chaturmaasya vratham and could not move about for the next four months. So he sent Mahorkadar with the king to perform the wedding ceremonies.

Doomaakshan was the paternal uncle of Naraantakan. He did penance towards Sun God to get an asthram from him. The Sun God sent it to him but Mahorkadar intercepted and took possession of that aayudam.

It became even more powerful in Mahorkadar’s hands. Then the same weapon was used by Mahorkadar to cut off the head of Doomaakshan. Kaasi Raajan was afraid of the consequences. He was afraid of the sons of Doomaakshan too.

On hearing about the death of Domaakshan, his two sons hurried to take revenge on the killer. They demanded Mahorkadar, “Why did you kill him who was doing penance? Did this king tell you do kill him?”

Now Kaasi Raajan got very frightened and spoke to them with great fear, “Please do not do any harm to me. I went to meet my kulaguru and he sent his son with me in his place. This boy is only small child and very irresponsible in his behavior. Please do not punish us”

5#20a. ஜனமேஜயன்

“அமுதமாக இனிக்கிறது வியாச முனிவரே!
அன்னையின் பெருமைகளை நீர் கூறுவது.

இன்னமும் கேட்க வேண்டும் என்ற பேராவல்
எண்ணத்தில் தோன்றி விரைந்து வளருகிறது.

தேவியின் லீலைகளைக் கேட்பதால் விளங்கும்
தேவியின் சக்தியும், ஆற்றலும், ஸ்வரூபமும்!

அறம், பொருள், இன்பங்கள் வேண்டுமா?
பிறவா வரமும், முக்தியும் வேண்டுமா?

இம்மையிலேயே ஜீவன் முக்தி வேண்டுமா?
இகலோக போகங்கள் அனுபவிக்க வேண்டுமா?

துக்கங்களில் இருந்து விடுதலை வேண்டுமா?
துரிதங்களில் இருந்து நிவாரணம் வேண்டுமா?

அனைத்தும் கிடைக்கும் விரும்பிய வண்ணம்
அன்னையின் அற்புத லீலைகளைச் சுவைத்தால்.

கர்மபலத் தியாகம் செய்த முனிவரும் விரும்பி
ஆர்வமாகக் கேட்கின்றனர் தேவி லீலைகளை.

முற்பிறப்பில் தேவியை பூஜை செய்தவர்கள்
இப்பிறப்பில் வாழ்கின்றார்கள் குறைவின்றி.

வறுமையில் வாடுபவர், நோய் பற்றியவர்,
வம்ச விருத்தி அற்றவர், ஏவல் செய்பவர்,

சுமையாட்கள், சுற்றி அலைந்து திரிபவர்;
சுவையான உணவு உண்ண முடியாதவர்,

ஊமையர் செவிடர், நொண்டி, நோயாளி,
குருடர், துக்க வாழ்வு வாழ்கின்றவர்கள்

தேவியைப் பூஜிக்காத பாவிகள் ஆவார்கள்;
தேவியைப் பூஜித்தவர் நல்வாழ்வு வாழ்வர்.

மேலும் கூறுங்கள் தேவியின் லீலைகளை
மறைந்த தேவி சென்றது எங்கே என்று!

கைலாசத்துக்கா? இமயமலைக்கா? அன்றி
வைகுண்டத்துக்கா? இந்திர லோகத்துக்கா?”

5#20a. Janamejayan

King Janamejayan told sage Vyaasa. “These tales about Devi are fascinating. I want to listen more and more of Devi’s leelaas. Knowing about them will make me understand the greatness of Devi and her swaroopam better.

We get anything we want from Devi be it Dharma, Artha, Kaama, Moksha or Liberation from bondage or jeevan mukti or pleasures of this world or freedom from sorrows and troubles. Devi will give us anything we want.

Even the sages who have given up the fruits of karma wish to listen to the greatness of Devi. All the people who suffer in this life are those who did not do aaraadhana of Devi in their previous births.

The poor, the wretched, the chronic sufferers, those without any children, those who live by obeying orders, those who make a living by carrying heavy loads, those who go hungry, the deaf, the dumb, the blind and the lame are all people who had not done Devi’s aaraadhana.

Please tell me more. Where did the Devi go after disappearing from the Devaas? Did she go to Kailash or Himalayas or Vaikuntam or Indra lokam?”
 
KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

நாரணன் என்னுந் தேவும் நான்முகத் தவனு முக்கண்
பூரணன் தானும் ஆகிப் புவிபடைத் தளித்து மாற்றி
ஆரண முடிவுந் தேறா அநாதியாய் உயிர்கட் கெல்லாம்
காரணன் ஆய மேலோன் கழலிணை கருத்துள் வைப்பாம்.
 
1. ஏமகூடம்.

“போருக்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் செல்லவேண்டும்
வீரமகேந்திரபுரத்துக்கு!” என்று முருகன்

திருச்செந்தூரில் எழுந்தருளி இருந்தபோது
திருவுளத்தில் கருத்துக் கொண்டான்.

“சூரபத்மனை வேருடன் அழிக்கச் செல்ல
தேரை விரைந்து கொணர்க வீரவாகு!”a

மனோவேகம் என்னும் தேர் வந்ததும்
மன்மதனை நிகர்த்த முருகன் ஏறினான்.

“வீரமகேந்திரபுரி செல்வோம் நாம்.
ஊர்திகளில் ஏறி உடன் வருவீராகுக!”

அமர்ந்தான் பிரமன் அன்னத்தின் மீது;
அமர்ந்தான் திருமால் கருடன் மீது;

அமர்ந்தான் இந்திரன் தன் தேரில்;
அமர்ந்தனர் பிறர் தம் ஊர்திகளில்;

ஆற்றலும் போர் வலிவும் படைத்த
நூற்று எட்டுப் படைத்தலைவர் சூழ,

பூதப் படைகள் ஈராயிரம் வெள்ளம்
தேவர்கள் பொழிந்த மலர் மழையில்,

பூதங்கள் ஒலித்த இசை மழையில்,
படைகள் நடந்தன நிலம் அதிர்ந்திட.

கடல் மேடாகி கணுக்கால் நீரானது.
கடல் மலைகள் சிறு கற்கள் ஆயின.

“கடையர்கள் வாழும் மகேந்திரபுரியை
அடைவோம் நாளை! அமைப்பீர் பாசறை.”

தேவதச்சன் அமைத்தான் ஒரு பாசறை.
தேவர்களின் பாசறை ஏமகூடம் ஆனது.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
4 # 1. Hemakoodam.

While at Thiruchendhoor Murugan decided to go to Veera Mahendrapuri to wage a war against Soorapadman. He commanded Veerabaahu to bring his chariot. When the chariot Manoveham arrived, the handsome Murugan climbed into it.

“Please come along with me in your own vahanams!” he commanded the other Devas. Brahman sat on his swan; Vishnu on his garudan; Indra in is chariot and the others in their respective vahanams and chariots.

The one hundred and eight generals of the army, two hundred vellam of the demon warriors, walked in the flowers rained by the Devas to the beat of the music played by the demons.

The sea became shallow as they waded through it. The mountains below the sea water were crushed into small stones. They had neared the city Veera Mahendrapuri by now.

Murugan said,”Let us camp here tonight and proceed to the war front tomorrow.”

The divine carpenter created a camp worthy of the Devas. It was called Hemakoodam.

12b. மகோற்கடர்

மஹோற்கடருக்குக் கோபம் பிறந்தது;
“ஓஹோ இவ்வளவு தானா பிரதாபம்?

தந்தையின் அனுமதியோடு வந்தேன்;
வந்த இடத்தில் வந்துள்ளது சங்கடம்.

உம்மை மட்டும் காத்துக் கொண்டால்
உம் மீது பாயும் எந்தையின் கோபம்.”

இனி இருதலைக் கொள்ளி ஏறும்புதான்!
முனிவரின் சாபமா? அசுரரின் கோபமா?

பயம் என்பதையே அறியாதவனிடம்
நயமாகப் பேசுவதால் என்ன பயன்?

நெருங்கினர் அசுரர்கள் மகோற்கடரை;
பெருமூச்சு விட்டான் சிறுவன் அப்போது.

மூச்சுக் காற்று கொன்றது அவர்களை!
மூச்சுக் காற்றில் பறந்தன சடலங்கள்!

விழுந்தன நராந்தகன் அரண்மனையில்
எழுந்தது சினம் எரிமலையென அவனுக்கு.

“உடனே சென்று இழுத்து வாருங்கள் !” என
படை வீரர்கள் விரைந்தனர் காசிராஜனிடம்.

வீரர்கள் சூழ்ந்தனர் காசிராஜன் ரதத்தை;
வீரர்கள் மாய்ந்த்னர் தரையில் விழுந்து,

மகோற்கடர் தொண்டையைக் கனைத்த
மகோன்னதப் பேரொலிக்குப் பலியாகி.

“வரங்கள் பெற்ற என்னிடமே இப்படியா?”
நராந்தகன் அனுப்பினான் மேலும் வீரரை.

மாயப் போர்முறையில் வல்ல அவர்கள்
தூய இறைவனை எதிர்ப்பதற்கு வந்தனர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

#42b. Mahorkadar

Mahorkadar became upset with the king’s behavior. He sneered at the king, “You begged for my father’s permission to bring me with you to Kasi. Now we in trouble and all you can think of is saving yourself. Are you not aware of the wrath of rushis and sages?”

Now Kaasi Raajan was between the devil and the deep sea. The sage’s wrath was on one side and the anger of the asuras on the other. The little boy knew no fear and there was no point in arguing with him.

The sons of Dhoomaakshan came near Mahorkadar and he exhaled a very deep breath. The wind was so fierce that the asuras were out of breath dropped dead. The wind of the breath carried their dead bodies and dropped them in the palace of Naraantakan.

Naraantakan got terribly angry at the sight of the dead bodies of his cousins. He sent out his soldiers to arrest the people who caused this atrocity.
The asura soldiers surrounded the chariot of Kaasi Raajan. Mahorkadar cleared his throat. A loud noise was produced and the soldiers dropped dead unable to bear the intensity of that terrible sound.
Naraantakan became more angry that he was not feared in spite of the boons he had got. He sent out more soldiers who were good in the Maya warfare to deal with Mahorkadar and Kaasi Raajan.

5#20b. வியாசரின் பதில்

“அடைவர் நீ கூறிய இடங்களில் ஒன்றை,
அடைந்தவர் ஜீவனாகப் பிறவி உலகில்.

உள்ளது மணித்வீபம் பாற்கடல் நடுவில்;
உள்ளாள் தேவி மனோரம்மியத் தீவினில்.

வசிப்பாள் தன் விருப்பம் போல அங்கே;
வசிப்பர் அவளுடன் பல அழகிய பெண்கள்.

வந்தனர் மும்மூர்த்திகள் பெண்ணுருவில் அங்கு!
தந்தாள் தேவி மூன்று சக்தியரை மூவருக்கும்.

மறைந்தருளிய மஹிஷாசுர மர்த்தினி தேவி,
மனம் கவர்ந்த மணி த்வீபத்துக்குச் சென்றாள்.

அமர்த்தினர் தேவர் மஹிஷன் அரியணையில்,
அமர்த்தினர் ஒருவனை உலகாளச் செய்வதற்கு

சூரிய வம்சத்து அரசன் சத்ருக்னன் ஆனான்,
சீரிய மணிமுடிதரித்துப் புதுச் சக்ரவர்த்தியாக!

செழித்தது நாடு சத்ருக்னனின் ஆட்சியில்;
செழித்தன நல்லறங்கள், நீதி, நியாயங்கள்;

பொழிந்தது மாதம் மும்மாரி தவறாமல்;
விளைந்தன பயிர், காய், கனி, மலர்கள்;

சொரிந்தன பாலைக் கறவைப் பசுக்கள்;
விரிந்தது பசுமை நதி நீர்ப் பெருக்கால்;

தத்தம் தொழில் செய்தனர் நால் வர்ணத்தவர்;
தவற விடவில்லை வர்ணாசிரம நெறிகளை!

வாழ்ந்தனர் பெண்கள் மாறாத கற்போடு;
வாழ்ந்தனர் பெண்கள் புண்ணியவதிகளாக!

புத்திரர்கள் காட்டினர் பெற்றவரிடம் பக்தி;
நித்தியம் நிலவியது நாட்டில் முழு அமைதி!

அந்தணர் வாழ்ந்தனர் செந்தண்மையுடன்;
அனைவரும் வாழ்ந்தனர் தேவி பக்தியுடன்.

5#20b. Vyaasaa’s reply

Vyaasaa told king Janamejayan,” Only a jeeva will go one of these places you have just mentioned. Devi went back to her MaNi dweepam located in the Ocean of Milk.

It is a fascinating island. Devi lives there the way she likes, surrounded by many beautiful women.

The Trinity had visited the dweepam once. They got changed into women and they were given their respective consorts and responsibilities there by Devi herself.

Devaas decided to place Satrugnan – a Soorya vamsa king – on Mahishan’s throne to rule over the world. He was a good king and the world prospered under his rule. Dharma and Justice prevailed in the world.

The rains never failed. The crops, flowers, vegetables and fruits grew and yielded well. Cows gave plenty of milk. The earth became covered with green plants and trees.

The people of the four varNa did their jobs well. There was no confusions nor unrest and nor upheavals during Satrugnan’s reign.
Children had great respect for their parents. Women lived pure and chaste lives. The brahmins lived lives of austerity and discipline. All the people were the devotees of Devi.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

2a. நாரதர் கலஹம்.


ஏமகூடத்தில் முருகன் இருக்கையில்
தாமே சென்றார் சூரபத்மனைத் தேடி

நாரத முனிவர் அவன் அரண்மனைக்கே;
“சிறந்து வாழ்வாய்!” என வாழ்த்தினார்.

“நீர் யார்? எங்கிருப்பவர்? என்ன சேதி?”
“நான் நாரதர் என்னும் பெயர் உடையவன்;

காமம் முதலியவற்றைத் துறந்து விட்டவன்;
நேமம் கொண்டு நன்மொழி புகல வந்தேன்;

உன்னை அழிக்கத் தோற்றுவித்தார் சிவன்
தன் நெற்றிக் கண்ணிலிருந்து முருகனை.

சிறுவனிடம் சென்று முறை இட்டனர் தேவர்
உறுதிமொழி அளித்துள்ளான் குறை தீர்க்க.

நிலவுலகுக்கு வந்தான் பூதப்படையுடன்;
இளவலை, கிரௌஞ்சனை அழித்தான்!

திருச் செந்தூரில் இருந்துகொண்டு அவன்
விரைந்து அனுப்பினான் ஒரு தூதுவனை.

படையுடன் கடல் கடந்து வந்து நகரின்
வடப்புறம் அமர்ந்துள்ளான் பாசறையில்.

கண்ணால் கண்டேன் இவை அனைத்தும்;
மன்னா! நீ ஆவன செய்வாய் விரைந்து!”

நகைத்தான் சூரபத்மன் இம்மொழி கேட்டு
திகைத்தார் அவர் அவன் பலத்தை எண்ணி.

‘தேவர்கள் நகரைப்போல எண்ணினானோ
தேவர்களை வென்ற என் தலை நகரையும்?

மடங்கற் கூட்டத்தை யானைக்கன்று ஒன்று
மான்களின் உதவியுடன் வெல்ல முடியுமோ?

அழிப்பேன் அச் சிறுவனின் ஆண்மையை.
பழிச்சொற்கள் வந்தாலும் பொருட்படுத்தேன்.

என் மகனை அனுப்பி வெல்வேன் அவனை!
உன் கண் முன் நிகழப்போவதை நீயும் பார்!”

“வெற்றி உனதே! காலம் தாழ்த்தாதே மன்னா!
வெற்றி உண்டாகத் தவம் செய்யச் செல்வேன்”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
KANDA PURAANAM - PORPURI KAANDAM

4 #2a. Narada’s service.

While Murugan and others were in Hemakoodam, Narada went to meet Soorapadman. He blessed Sooran. Sooran wanted to know who he was and what was his business.

“I am Narada. I have given up all desires. I wish you well and brought you some important news. Siva has created a son out of his fiery eyes to destroy you.

Devas went and lodged a complaint against you to that boy Murugan. He has promised to help them. He has come down to earth with his army.

He killed your brother Taarakan and destroyed Krounjagiri. He stayed in Thiruchendoor and sent to you a messenger. Now he has crossed the sea and set up a camp in the northern side of your city.

I saw all these with my own eyes. Do something quickly to meet this threat of war!”
Soorapadman laughed loudly. Narada wondered at his guts.

“Did the boy think this to be the capital of Devas? Can an elephant cub assisted by deers conquer a pride of ferocious lions?

I will destroy his ego. I don’t care even if i am blamed for that. I will send my son and conquer him. Just wait and see what happens”

“I will go and do penance for your victory” saying this Narada left his palace.

12c. தருமதத்தர்

நகரை நெருங்கி விட்டனர் தம் ரதத்தில்;
நகரில் கரை புரண்டது அதிக உற்சாகம்.

வேஷமிட்டு வந்தனர் இரு கொடிய அசுரர்கள்;
கோஷமிட்டு வந்தனர் புரோஹிதர்கள் போல்.

கண்டதும் கண்டு கொண்டார் மகோற்கடர்;
கண்டும் காணாதது போலச் சென்று விட்டார்.

ஆலிங்கனம் செய்து கொல்ல வந்தவர்களை
ஆலிங்கனம் செய்து கொன்றுவிட்டார் அவர்.

புயல் காற்றாக மாறிவந்தான் ஓர் அசுரன்;
புயலில் சிக்கித் தத்தளித்தது காசி மாநகரம்

அரைநாணாகிய ஆதிசேஷனை அவிழ்த்துவிட
அடங்கியது புயல் ஆயிரம் வாய்களில் புகுந்து.

பலம் இழந்து நின்றுவிட்ட பரிதாப அசுரர்கள்
பம்பரம் ஆகி மாண்டனர் மகோற்கடரிடம்.

பாறையாக மாறி நின்றான் அசுரன் ஒருவன்
பாறை வழி மறித்தது செல்கின்ற ரதத்தை.

“விக்னங்கள் தீரும் விநாயகரை நினைத்தால்;
விக்ன விநாயகருக்குச் சூறைத் தேங்காய்” என

வந்து சேர்ந்தன ஆயிரத்தெட்டு தேங்காய்கள்;
வந்த மக்களிடம் சொன்னார் மகோற்கடர்;

“சூறை போடுங்கள் ஆளுக்கு ஒன்று !” என்று.
சூறை எறிந்தனர் அந்தப் பாறையின் மீதே!

நொறுங்கின தேங்காய்கள் தலையில் மோதி.
பொறுக்க முடியாதபோது எழுந்தான் அசுரன்.

பாய்ந்தான் சுயவுருவெடுத்து இறைவன் மீது;
பாய்ந்த பரசுவினால் மாய்ந்தான் அவனும்.

தந்தனர் உபசாரங்கள் அரண்மனையில்,
வந்தார் புரோஹிதர் தருமதத்தர் விரைந்து!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

42c. Dharmaduttar

Their chariot had neared the city of Kaasi and there was great rejoice in the city since the king had returned after visiting his kulaguru Sage Kashyap.

A group of pundits and priests welcomed the king with poorna kumbham. In that group two auras had mingled after getting transformed into prohits.
Mahorkadar knew the truth at the very first sight but did not react to it.

The asura turned into prohits had planned to kill Mahorkadar by embracing him tightly and squeezing him to his death. But Mahorkadar embraced them and squeezed them to death in stead.

Another asuran came transformed as a terrible stormy wind. The whole city suffered due to this storm. Mahorkadar untied the serpent Aadiseshan from his waist.

It stood with its thousand mouths wide open. The stormy wind was weakened as it entered those many mouths. The asura who had become weak was killed by Mahorkadar.

Another asuran transformed into a rock and blocked the path of the chariot. Mahorkadar said, ” We will pray to Vigna Vinayaka to remove all the obstacles” Immediately one thousand and eight coconuts were brought to Mahorkadar.

He told the people who had gathered there, “Each one here please break one of these coconuts for Vinayaka. They threw those coconuts on that rock to shatter them in order to please Vinayaka.

When he could take no more of the bashing with coconuts, the asura got up from there. He assumed his real form and pounced on Mahorkadar. The unfailing parasu was released by the boy promptly and killed the asuran.
The Kaasi Raajan and Mahorkadar reached the palace of the king.

Dharmaduttar the prohit of the Kasi Raajan arrived there in a great haste.
