VINAAYAKA PURAANAM - 2

10b. கஜமுக அசுரன்

பெண் யானையாக மாறினாள் விபுதை,
ஆண் யானையாக மாறினார் மாகதர்.

காதலுடன் கூடிய இருவருக்கும் பிறந்தான்
கஜமுகன் என்னும் வலிமை வாய்ந்த அசுரன்.

பெண்யானையின் மயிர்க்கால்களில் இருந்து
எண்ணிறந்த அசுர வீரர்கள் உற்பத்தி ஆயினர்.

தவம் செய்யும் முனிவர் மக்கள் அசுரர்களா ?
குலம் நலம் அறியாமல் கூடியதன் விளைவு!

“பெண்ணே! நீ யார் உண்மையைக் கூறு!”
“முனிபுங்கவா! நான் அசுர கன்னி விபுதை.

தேவை தேவர்களை வெல்லும் மகன் எனத்
தேடி வந்தேன் நான் தவசீலர் ஆகிய உம்மை.

ஆசி கூறி வாழ்த்துங்கள் நம் மகனை,
அசுரர்களிடம் கூட்டிச் செல்லும் முன்”

“தேவர்களுக்குத் தகுந்த எதிரி பிறந்தான்!”
தேனாக அசுரர்களுக்கு இனித்தது செய்தி

குலகுரு கூறினார் கஜமுக அசுரனிடம்,
“பலம் மிக்கவனாக ஆகவேண்டும் நீ!

தவம் செய்வாய் சிவனைக் குறித்து
தவம் பெற்றுத் தரும் அரிய வரங்கள்.

வரம் அளிப்பதில் வள்ளல் சிவபிரான்;
வரம் தரும் உலகை ஆளும் வலிமை.”

கானகம் சென்றான்; தவம் புரிந்தான்;
காணக் கிடைத்தது சிவன் தரிசனம்

தேவர்களால் அழிவின்மை பெற்றான்.
மூவுலகை ஆளும் வலிமை பெற்றான்

தலைநகர் ஆனது மாதங்கபுரம் – அவனைத்
தலை வணங்கினர் மூவுலகத்தினரும் கூடி.

அடிமைப் படுத்தினான் தேவ சமூஹத்தை
அடி பணிந்த தேவர் புரிந்தனர் குற்றேவல்.

#40b. Gajamukha asuran

Vibudha became a female elephant and Maagadar a male elephant. When they made love, a mighty son Gajamukha asuran was born to them. Many more asuras were born out of the hair follicles of the female elephant.

Maagdar was taken aback. How could he - a rushi - produce asuras? He asked Vibuda, “Tell me the truth now. Who are you?”

Vibuda was honest and told him all about herself. She said
“I am an asura kanya sent to you to beget mighty sons. Please bless our children before I take them back to the asura kingdom”

Th news that a mighty son and may more valiant asuras have been born was a welcome news to the asura. They rejoiced on hearing this.

Sukraachaarya – the asura kulaguru – told Gajamukhan, “You must become very strong by doing penance and obtaining boons from lord Siva. He is very generous with his boons.”

Gajamukha asuran started doing severe penance on Siva. Eventually Siva appeared before him and gave him several boons.

Gajamukhan became invincible by the Devas. He would conquer and rule over all the three worlds.

Gajamuhkan made Maathangapuram his capital city and ruled all the three worlds. Deva became his servants and did menial jobs given to them by him.

5#12b. தேவியின் மறுமொழி (2)

“பரமசிவனை என் நாயகனாக வரித்த நான்
பார்ப்பேனா கண்ணெடுத்தும் மஹிஷனை?

நாயகனாக இருக்கும் கனவைக் கைவிடு!
நாயினும் கீழான அடிமையாக ஆகிவிடு!

யுத்தம் புரியத் துணிந்தால் வெளிப்படு!
யமனுக்குத் தருவேன் ஓர் எருமையாக.

மகிஷாசுரன் என்ற பெயர் பெற்றுள்ளாய்;
மகிழ்வுடன் சென்றுவிடு பாதள லோகம்.

சமமான இருவர் துய்ப்பதே இன்பம்;
சமமற்ற இருவர் துய்ப்பதோ துன்பம்.

லக்ஷணமற்ற மஹிஷன் நீ எங்கே – ஸ்திரீ
லக்ஷணம் வாய்த்திருக்கும் நான் எங்கே?

விட்டுவிடு இன்றோடு தகாத ஆசைகளை!
விட்டுவிடு இன்றோடு அமரர் சுவர்க்கத்தை!

உயிர் பிழைப்பாய் நீ பாதளம் சென்றால்!
உயிர் பிரிவாய் நீ யுத்தகளம் சென்றால் !

வெல்லமுடியாது உன்னால் என்னை – உன்
வல்லமை தோற்றிடும் பெண் முன்னால்!

சொல் இவற்றை மஹிஷனிடம் சென்று!”
சொன்னாள் தேவி இடியோசை போன்று.

அஞ்சிய தாமிரன் ஓடினான் மஹிஷனிடம்
அஞ்சிய அசுர கர்ப்பிணிகள் கலங்கினர்.

அசைந்தன மலையும், பூமியும் ஓசையில்!
இசைந்தது சிம்ம கர்ஜனையும் ஓசையில்!

ஓடியவர் நின்றனர், நின்றவர் ஓடினர்,
இடிமேல் இடியோசை கேட்டு நடுங்கினர்

நடுங்கினான் ஓசையைக் கேட்ட மஹிஷன்
ஓடுவோமா எனச் சிந்தித்தான் மஹிஷன்.

5#12b. Devi’s reply (2)

Devi told Thaamran her messages for Mahishan,”Will I the wife of Parama Sivan even look at you Mahisha? Give up your impossible dream of becoming my husband. At the most you can become my slave.

If you are ready to fight come out and face me. I shall dispatch you to Yama as a second buffalo for his use. Pleasure is possible only between two persons well matched in everything. Pleasure will become pain if the two persons are not matched well.

You are buffalo and I am a woman! Give up your wrong desires. Give back the Heaven to the Deva. If you go back to Paataala you may still live!

If you go to the battle field, surely you will perish. You can neve conquer me. You are vulnerable in the hands of woman. Go and tell all these to your king Mahishan.”

Devi roared like thunder claps. Thaamran ran in fright. All the asura women shivered to their bone marrows. Even the earth and the mountains trembled. The lion also joined in the roaring.

Those who were running stood frozen in terror. Those who were frozen with fear started running. Mahishan heard the combined roars and shuddered. He wondered whether to run away and where to run away to.

18. யாளி முகன்.

அழிந்து வஜ்ஜிரவாகு விழுந்தபோது,
விழுந்தான் கதிரவன் மேற்கு திசையில்.

யாரும் வரவில்லை மேலும் போர் செய்ய!
திரும்பிச் செல்ல எண்ணினார் வீரவாகு.

தெருவில் நடக்கும் வீரவாகுவைக் கண்டு
அருகில் செல்லாமல் ஓடினர் அவுணர்கள்.

மீண்டும் ஒருமுறை கடந்தார் கடலை;
மீண்டும் அடைந்தார் இலங்கையை.

யாளி முக அவுணன் அதன் காவலன்;
யாளி முகங்கள் ஆயிரம் கொண்டவன்;

மேருவை நிகர்த்த உடல் உடையவன்
நெருப்பை உமிழும் கண்கள் உடையவன்;

விரைந்து செல்லும் வீரவாகுவைக் கண்டு
விரைந்து வந்து உரைத்தனர் காவலர்கள்.

“அதிவீரனை, வீரசிங்கனை அழித்துக்
கதி கலங்க வைத்தவன் இவனேதான்!”

“இவனைக் கொல்வேன்!” என்று கூறி
அவரை நெருங்கினான் யாளி முகன்.

கரங்கள், சிரங்களை அறுத்துத் தள்ளி
போர் புரியலானார் வீரவாகுத் தேவர்.

ஆயிரம் வலக்கரங்கள் வெட்டுண்டன!
ஆயிரம் இடக்கரங்கள் வெட்டுண்டன!

ஆயிரம் துதிக்கைகள் கீழே வீழ்ந்தன.
ஆயிரம் சிரங்களும் கீழே வீழ்ந்தன.

KANDA PURAANAM - MAHENDRA KAANDAM

3 # 18. Yaalimukhan.

When Vajrabaahu fell dead, the sun also set in the west. No more asuras came forward to fight with Veerabaahu. He decided to return to Lord Murugan at Thiruchendhoor.

The asuras who saw him walking on the streets kept away from him out of fear. He crossed the sea and reached Lanka one more time.

Yaalimukhan was its guardian. He had a thousand yaali faces. His body was as huge as the mount Meru. His eyes spat fire.

When the asura soldiers eyed Veerabaahu they rushed to inform Yaali mukhan that it was he same man who had struck terror in their hearts and killed Athiveeran and Veerasingan.

Yaali mukhan swore to kill the man himself and went near him. Veerabaahu started to fight with him by cutting off his heads, trunks and hands.

One thousand right hands of Yaalimukhan got cut off. One thousand left hands too were cut off. One thousand trunks fell on the ground and one thousand heads rolled on the ground.

Yaali is a mythological creature which had a lion’s body and the trunk and tusks of an elephant. It was considered to be much more stronger than a lion or an elephant.

 10c. கரிமுக நாதன்

உத்தியான வனத்தில் உலவினர் சிவன் உமை;
சித்திரங்கள் விளங்கின மண்டபச் சுவர்களில்.

எனையவற்றில் இருந்து மாறுபட்டு இருந்தது
யானைகள் சுகித்திருப்பது போன்ற சித்திரம்.

பெண் யானையைப் பார்த்திருந்தாள் உமை;
ஆண் யானையில் லயித்திருந்தான் சிவன்;

கோடி சூரியப் பிரகாசத்துடன் தோன்றினார்
கோடி மன்மத அழகுடன் குட்டி விநாயகர்!

உச்சி முகர்ந்து மகிழ்ந்தனர் விநாயகரை;
“அச்சம் தீர்க்கப் பிறந்தவன் நீ!” என்றனர்.

சர்வ சக்திகளையும் அளித்து வாழ்த்தினர்;
சர்வத்துக்கும் அவரை முதன்மை ஆக்கினர்.

“அடிமைப் படுத்தியுள்ளான் தேவரைக் கஜமுகன்.
கொடுமைப் படுத்துகிறான் தேவரைக் கஜமுகன்.

அழிவில்லாத வரத்தைப் பெற்றுள்ளான்;
அளவில்லாத மமதை கொண்டுள்ளான்.

முடிப்பாய் கஜமுகனைப் போரில் வென்று.
துடைப்பாய் தேவர்களின் துயரை இன்று!”

புறப்பட்டு விட்டார் யுத்தத்திற்கு விநாயகர்;
பூதன் அசலன் ஆனான் அவரது வாகனமாக.

கஜமுகன் படைவீரர்கள் தயார் நிலையில்!
கலந்தன படைகள் மாதங்க நகர் அருகில்!

விநாயகர் முன் வந்து நின்றான் கஜமுகன்.
“வீரப் பிரதாபச் சிறுவன் நீதானா?” என்றான்.

‘அறிவாயா சிறுவா வில்லை எடுப்பது பற்றி?
அறிவாயா சிறுவா பாணம் தொடுப்பது பற்றி?”

"தர்மம் பெரியது; அதர்மம் சிறியது அறிவாய்.
தர்மம் வெல்லும் உருவில் சிறியதானாலும் !

தேவர்களை சிறை விடு! நீ நல்லவனாகி விடு!
தேவையில்லை இங்கு இன்று இந்த யுத்தம்.

அழிவில்லாமல நீடு வாழலாம் இப்போதும்,
அழித்துவிட்டால் உன் அகந்தையை நீயே!”

40c. Karimukha Naathan

Siva and Uma were taking a stroll in a garden. It had a mandapam with colorful paintings on it walls. One of those paintings was different from the rest.

It portrayed two elephants playing amorously. Siva was staring at the male elephant and Uma at the female elephant. Baby Vinayaka came in to existence from the power of their thoughts.

He was as brilliant as ten million suns put together and as lovely as ten million Manmathas put together. Siva and Uma embraced the child and said, “You are born to put an end to all the sufferings of the Deva and remove their fear.”

They blessed him with all the special powers. They made him the foremost among gods. They told Vinayaka, “Gajamukha asuran has imprisoned all the Deva. He is ill treating them in the prison. He has got several boons and has become very arrogant because of the boons. You must release the Deva from his prison”

Vinayaka left for the battle field. He rode on the back of Achalan one of the gaNaas of Siva. Gajamukhan had his army ready and the two armies came together outside Maathangapuram.

Gajamukha asuran came in front of Vinayaka and asked, “So you are the miracle child born to kill me! Do you know how to hold a bow? Do you know how to shoot an arrow?”

Vinayaka replied, “Dharma is large and powerful. Adhrma is small and weak. Dharma will conquer Adharma. Release the Deva from your prison now. This war is not necessary. Destroy your pride so that you may still live long”

5#12c. மஹிஷனின் நடுக்கம்

“செவிடு படுகின்றன என் இரு செவிகள்!
தவிடு பொடிபடுகின்றன பூமி, மலைகள்!

மூடி விடுவோமா கோட்டைக் கதவுகளை ?
ஓடி விடுவோமா மீண்டும் பாதாளத்துக்கு?

புறப்படுவோமா நாம் யுத்த களத்துக்கு?
புறமுதுகிடுவோமா யுத்த களத்தில்?

மந்திராலோசனை கூறுங்கள் மந்திரிகளே!
வந்திருப்பவன் தனி ஒருத்தி படையின்றி.

போற்றுகின்றாராம் அவளைத் தேவர்கள்;
தூற்றுகின்றாளாம் அவள் அரக்கர்களை!

வெற்றி தோல்வி இரு கட்சிக்கும் பொது,
வெற்றி, தோல்விகள் தெய்வ சங்கல்பம்.

முயல்பவன் நம்ப வேண்டும் தெய்வத்தை!
முயல வேண்டும் தெய்வத்தை நம்புபவன்!

கூறுங்கள் நாம் செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன?”
கோரினான் மஹிஷன் அமைச்சர்களிடம்.

பிடாலன் முன்வந்தான் அறிவுரைகள் கூறிட;
பிடாலன் முன் நிற்பவன் அறிவு கூர்மையில்.

“மரணம் வரலாம் ஒரு பெண்ணால் – அவள்
மரண தேவதையோ தேவர்கள் புகழ்வதால்?

மறைந்து நின்று கவனிப்பார் போரை தேவர்.
மறைவினின்றும் வெளிப்படுவார் வெற்றி தர.

வெற்றியையே எண்ணுகிறீர்கள் என்றாலும்,
வெற்றியைத் தவிர தோல்வியும் சாத்தியம்!

பற்றிக் கொள்ளும் ஸ்திரீ ஹத்தி தோஷம்,
வெற்றிக் கனியை நாம் அடைந்த போதிலும்!”

5#12c. Mahishan’s fear


Mahishan told his ministers,” I think I will become deaf from this terrifying sound. The earth and the mountains tremble in the sound. Shall we close the gates of the fort? Shall we go back to Paataalam?

Shall we proceed to the war front? Will we be driven back by her from there? Please advise me. A woman has come all by herself without any army. She is praised by the Deva and she dares to insult the Asuraas!


Victory and defeat is common to both the sides. Victory or defeat is decided by God. Even if one believes in God, he must still try his best. He who tries his best must also believe in God. What will be our next step?”

Bidaalan came forward to give his opinion. He was very wise and fearless. “Oh king! You know that you may be destroyed by a woman. This woman is praised by Gods and Devaas. May be she is the angel of death!

She appears to have come alone. But the Deva may be
watching over her invisile to us. They may come out to help her at the most opportune moment.

We are always thinking of victory. Getting defeated is also a possibility. Even if we kill her and win the war, we will still be afficted by Sthreehaththi dosham.”

19. திருச்செந்தூர் சேர்தல்.

யாளிமுகனைக் கொன்றபின் வீரவாகு,
ஆழியைக் கடந்து அடைந்தார் செந்தூர்.

வீரவாகுத் தேவரின் நல்வரவு கண்டு
ஆரவாரம் செய்தனர் பூதத் தலைவர்கள்.

வணக்கம் செய்து இணக்கமாகப் பேசி
வரவேற்றனர் வீரவாகுத் தேவரை.

முருகனைக் கண்டுவணங்கிய வீரவாகு
மறுமொழி பகர்ந்தார் சூரபத்மனின்.

“தூது சொல்லி அனுப்பிய மொழியைக்
காதில் போட்டுக் கொள்ளவில்லை அவன்;

தேவர்களைச் சிறை நீக்கமுடியாது என்று
தேவரிடம் கூறியுள்ளான் உறுதியாக!

படையுடன் நடப்போம் நாம் நாளை;
கடையனின் கொட்டத்தை அடக்க!”

முறுவல் மாறாத திங்கள் முகத்துடன்
முருகன் கூறினான் அனைவரிடத்திலும்!

“துன்பம் தொலையும் நாளையுடன்;
இன்பம் திரும்பும் இனி நம் வாழ்வில்!”

குதூகலித்தனர் தேவர்கள்- இந்திரன்
குதூகலித்தான் ஜெயந்தன் செய்தி கேட்டு.

3 # 19. Reaching Thiruchendhoor.

After killing Yaalimukhan, Veerabaahu crossed the ocean and reached Thiruch chendoor. The waiting army was happy to see the safe return of their friend and gave him a noisy welcome. They welcomed him heartily and took him to Lord Murugan.

Veerabaahu conveyed the reply given by soorapadman. Murugan with his moon-like smiling face told the assembly,

“The message sent by us was not acceptable to Soorapman. He will not release the Devas from his prison. We have to march with our army on his capital city tomorrow and shatter his arrogance and pride!”

The Devas were happy with the thought that soon their troubles will come to an end. Indra was happy to know the welfare of his dear son Jayanthan.

10d. மூஷிகன்

பாணங்களைப் பொழிந்தான் கஜமுக அசுரன்
பாணங்களை விழுங்கியது கரிமுகனின் கதை.

தேரை உடைத்தார் கரிமுகன் தன் பாணத்தால்;
தேரை உருவாக்கினான் அசுரன் மாயையால்!

தண்டத்தை அவர் மீது ஏவினான் கஜமுகன்
தண்டத்தை உடைத்தது கரிமுகனின் கதை.

கதையால் அடித்தார் கஜமுகனின் மார்பை .
கஜமுகன் விழுந்தான் நினைவை இழந்து.

விழுந்த அசுரன் எழுந்தபோது – ஆயுதத்தால்
எழுந்தவன் மார்பைப் பிளந்தார் கரிமுகன்.

அழிவில்லாத அசுரன் ஆனான் மூஷிகனாக
அட்டஹாசம் செய்தான் உலகங்கள் நடுங்கிட.

ஏறி அமர்ந்தார் அவன் முதுகில் கரிமுகன்!
மாறி விட்டன அவனது ஆணவ மலங்கள்!

அடிமை ஆகிவிட்டான் கரிமுக நாதனுக்கு!
வடிவெடுத்தான் அவரது சீரிய வாகனமாக!

#40d. Mooshikan

Gajamukha asuran shot a shower of arrows. Karimukhan’s mace swallowed all the arrows. Karimukhan destroyed the chariot of the Gajamukha asuran but he created a new chariot by his power of Maya.

Gajamukha asuran now threw his dandam on Karimukhan but Karimukhan’s mace shattered the dandam. Karimukhan hit Gajamukha asuran with his dandam and the asuran fell down unconscious.

When he came round and got up again, Karimukhan tore open his chest into two. But Gajamukha asuran could not be destroyed. Now he became a giant Mooshikan and threatened everyone.

Karimukhan sat on his back and the divine touch destroyed the pride and conceit of the asuran. He became the vaahanaa of Karimukan willingly now.

5#12d. அமைச்சர்கள் அறிவுரை

“பாவத்துக்கு அஞ்சினோம் என்றால் – அவள்
பாவம் பாராமல் கொன்று குவிப்பாள் நம்மை!

‘வீராதி வீரர்கள் அழிந்தனர் முற்றிலும்
போரில் ஒரு பெண்ணுடன் மோதியதால்!’

தீராத பழி வந்து சேரும் நம் குலத்துக்கு!
ஆறாத வடு ஏற்படும் நம் நற்பெயருக்கு!

காமந்தகனால் போர் புரிய முடியுமா
காமத்தைத் தூண்டும் பெண்ணுடன்?

கண்களும், அங்க அவயவங்களும் போதும்;
பெண்ணுக்கு ஆணை வெற்றி கொள்வதற்கு.

நீர் வெல்வீர் போரில் – காமம் அழிந்து விட்டால் .
நீர் தோற்பீர் போரில் – காமம் அழியா விட்டால்.

ஓடி விடலாம் பாதாளத்துக்கு என்றாலும்’
தேடி வரும் மீண்டும் அழியாத அவப்பெயர்.

மரணத்திலும் கொடியது விடாத பழி – தரும்
மரணம் மாறாப் புகழும் வீர சுவர்க்கமும்!

ஓடிச் சென்று ஒளிந்து கொண்டாலும் – நம்மைத்
தேடி வரும் நம் மரணம் விதிக்கப் பட்டிருந்தால்.

தன் பங்குக்குக் கூறினான் மந்திரி பாஷ்கலன்
“நான் ஒருவன் போதும் இவளை வென்று வர!

வீர உணர்ச்சி தரும் வெற்றியை நமக்கு;
பீதி உணர்ச்சி தரும் தோல்வியை நமக்கு."

தூர்த்தன் அமைச்சன் கூறினான் அறிவுரை;
“துரிதமாக அனுப்புங்கள் என்னைப் போருக்கு.

பூச்சாண்டி காட்டுகின்றாள் அந்தப் பெண்!
பூச்சி போல அவளைப் பிடித்து வருவேன்!

மோகத்தை விட்டு விடவேண்டாம் மன்னா !
போகம் துய்ப்பீர் அவளோடு நீங்கள்!” என்றான்

5#12d. The ministers’ advices

Bidaalan continued his advices. “If we hesitate thinking of incurring sthree haththi dosham, she will kill all of us easily.

We will be ridiculed by everyone for a very long time as the mighty asuras who got killed by a single young woman in a war.

Can a king deep in love fight with the woman of his love? A woman needs no weapons other than her eyes and her curves to defeat any man.

If you give up your infatuation for her, you may still win over her. Otherwise she will win over us easily.

We my run to Paataalam and try to save our lives but the ridicule will live long after a we are gone. But death in the battle field will give us swarggam and fame.

More over if we are destined to die, death can always find us wherever we may go and hide.

Now Bhashkalan got up and spoke. “I am sufficient to conquer her and bring her here. Confidence will give us victory. Fear will give us defeat.”

Durdharan got up and said, ” Send me to the war front. That woman is trying to frighten us. I shall fetch her as if she were a moth. Oh king! you need not give up you love for her. I will bring her to you so that you desire may be fulfilled. “

20. திருத்தி அமைத்தல்

“படைகளோடு வஜ்ஜிரவாகுவும்
படைக் களத்தில் மடிந்து விட்டான்.

கடலைக் கடந்து திரும்பிவிட்டான்
இடத்தைச் சூறையாடிய வீரவாகு.”

தூதுவர்கள் சொன்ன செய்தி கேட்டு
துன்பக் கடலில் ஆழ்ந்தான் அசுரன்.

மனைவி பதுமகோமளை கதறிஅழுதாள்
மகனைப் பறி கொடுத்த துக்கத்தினால்.

மற்ற சுற்றமும் அழுது கண்ணீர் பெருக்க
மகேந்திரபுரி அழுகைபுரி ஆகிவிட்டது.

தரும கோபன் தான் தலைமை அமைச்சன்;
தரும மொழிகளைக் கூறி தேற்றினான்.

கள்ளமற்ற அவன் மொழிகளைக் கேட்டு
உள்ளம் சற்றுத் தெளிந்தான் சூரபத்மன்.

“அழைத்து வா நான்முகனை!”காவலனை
அழைத்துக் கட்டளை இட்டான் சூரபத்மன்.

“திருச்செந்தூரில் நம் அண்டத்து பிரமன்
திருமுருகனுடன் தங்கி இருக்கிறானாம்.

பார்த்தவர்கள் சொன்ன தகவல் இது.
பக்கம் மாறிக் சென்று விட்டான் அவன்.”

“வேறு அண்டத்து பிரமனைச் சென்று
விரைவாக அழைத்து வாருங்கள் இங்கு!”

வேறு அண்டத்தின் நான்முகன் வந்தான்.
“விரைந்து நகரைச் சீர் அமைப்பாய்!”

மதில்கள், கோபுரங்கள், மாடங்கள்,
மண்டபங்கள் முன் போல் இலங்கின.

“உன் அண்டதுக்குத் திரும்பிச் செல்வாய்!
உன் தொழிலை அங்கே செய்துவருவாய்!”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
3 # 20. City reset to original glory.

 The messengers brought the bad news to Soorapadman. Vajrabaahu had died in the battle along with his army. The troublemaker Veerabaahu had destroyed the city and gone back safely !”

Soorapadman was immersed in the sea of sorrow. His wife Padumakomalai cried bitterly moaning the death of Vajrabaahu. The others joined in and the usually joyous city was now reduced to a city of tears.

Dharmagopan tried to console Soorapadman with his words of wisdom. Soorapadman got consoled to some extent. He ordered his men to bring Brahma there immediately.

The soldiers replied,” Brahma had joined the Murugan’s side and is now with him in Senthoor. Soorapadman ordered that Brahma of another universe be brought there immediately.

Brahma of another universe came there. He was ordered to restore the city to its original glory and beauty. He did as was told.

Soorapadman was happy with his job and sent him back to his own universe, advising him to continue to do his job as usual.

 
VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

10e. சொக்கட்டான்

வைகுந்த வாசன் வந்தார் ஒருநாள்
கைலாச வாசனைக் காண்பதற்காக.

சொக்கட்டான் ஆடினார் சிவன், உமை.
இக்கட்டான ஒரு பந்தயம் வைத்தனர்.

வென்றவருக்குத் தர வேண்டும் தம்
பொன்னாபரணங்களைத் தோற்றவர்.

சாட்சி ஆக்கப்பட்டார் விஷ்ணு மூர்த்தி;
கட்சி மாறிவிட்டார் பந்தயம் முடிவில்.

வென்றவள் உமை என்ற போதிலும்
வென்றவர் சிவன் என்று சொன்னார்.

கண்மண் தெரிமல் வந்து விட்டது
அண்ணன் மீது உமைக்குக் கோபம்.

“குருடன் போலச் சாட்சி சொன்னதால்
குருட்டு மலைப்பாம்பாக மாறிவிடுவீர்!”

கோபம் சாபமாக மாறியது உமையிடம்,
சாபம் மாற்றியது விஷ்ணுவைப் பாம்பாக

“கஜமுகனை வென்ற கரிமுகன் அருளால்
நிஜ உருவம் பெருவீர், வருந்தாதீர்!” என

அன்புடன் ஆறுதல் கூறினார் சிவபிரான்;
மண்ணுலகில் காத்திருந்தது மலை பாம்பு.

யத்த களத்திலிருந்து வந்த கரிமுகன்
மெத்த வருந்தும் பாம்பைக் கண்டார்.

தீர்ந்தது தாபம் நீங்கியது சாபம் – சுயவுரு
திரும்பியது உடனே கரிமுகன் அருளால்

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

40e. The bet

Vishnu visited Kailash one day. Siva and Uma were playing a game of dice. Vishnu was made the judge. The bet laid was that the loser must give away all the ornaments to the winner.

Uma won the game but Vishnu told a lie that Siva had won the game. Uma got terribly enraged by this utter lie and uttered a terrible curse to Vishnu.

“You behaved like a blind man and gave a wrong judgement. May you become a blind python and live on earth!”.

Siva was moved with pity and told Vishnu, “When Vinayaka wins over Gajamukha asuran in the battle, he will remove the curse laid on you and you will regain your original form”

The blind python was waiting patiently for the arrival of Vinayaka. After subduing Gajamukha asuran Vinayaka came to the place where the python was waiting for his grace.

He removed the curse and Vishnu got back his original form.

5#13a. முதல் நாள் யுத்தம் (1)

சென்றனர் பாஷ்கலன், துர்முகன் இருவரும்;
செப்பினர் தேவியிடம் மிகவும் கம்பீரமாக.

“வெல்ல இயலவில்லை எவராலும் மஹிஷனை.
வெல்ல இயலும் எளிதில் உன்னால் மஹிஷனை.

அசுர வேந்தனை மணந்த பின் என்ன குறை?
அசர வைக்கும் அழகிய பெண்ணே கூறுவாய்!

எருமைத் தலையணை நெருங்குவது எங்கனம்?
எண்ணிப் பொரும வேண்டாம் தெய்வ நங்கையே!

இருக்கமாட்டான் அவன் எருமைத் தலையனாக
நெருக்கமாக உன்னிடம் வரும் நேரங்களில்.

கோடி மன்மத விக்ரஹமாக வருவான் – நீ
கூடி மகிழ்விப்பாய் அவனை உன் அழகால்!

மூன்று உலகங்களும் கிடக்கும் உன் காலடியில்;
தோன்றுவதை செய்து கொண்டு இன்புறுவாய்!”

தேவி கூறினால் உறுதியான மறுமொழியை,
“தேவர்களுக்குப் புது வாழ்வு தரவே வந்தேன்.

அண்டவெளியில் ஒளிந்து கொள்ளட்டும்;!
இருண்ட குகையில் ஒளிந்து கொள்ளட்டும்!

விடமாட்டேன் மஹிஷனை உயிரோடு!
விளம்புங்கள் இதை மகிஷன் காதோடு!”

சினம் பீறிட்டது அமைச்சர்களிடம் – அவர்
இனம் வெளிப்பட்டது அவர்கள் செயலில்

செய்தனர் வீரகர்ஜனை; ஏந்தினர் வில்லை;
எய்தனர் பாணங்களை தேவியின் மீது !

அதிரவில்லை தேவி அந்தத் தாக்குதலால்!
புதிராகப் புன்னகைத்தாள் தேவி அப்போது!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

5#13a. The first day’s war

Bashkalan and Durmukhan went to meet Devi and told her thus:

“No one could defeat Mahishan in a war. But you can defeat him easily by becoming his wife. After marrying the monarch of all the three worlds, what will you lack oh stunningly beautiful lady?

Do not feel disgusted wondering how go near that buffalo headed king. He will not be buffalo headed when he comes to you.

He will be as beautiful as ten million Manmathans put together. Make him happy with your rare beauty”

Devi replied in a calm but determined voice, “I have come here to restore the Heaven to the Devaas. Mahishan may go and hide anywhere in the universe but I will not spare him. Go and tell this to your mighty monarch Mahishan”

True to their race, the ministers became very angry. The roared menacingly, took up their bows and started raining arrows on Devi.

Devi was unperturbed by this sudden attack. She smiled in a mysterious and meaningful manner.
