KANDA PURAANAM - MAHENDRA KAANDAM

12h. ஆயிரவர் அழிவு

வீரவாகுவின் வீர மொழிகளால்
சூரபத்மனின் கோபம் பெருகியது.

“பல்லு முளைக்காத பாலகன் தூதன் எனக்
கொல்லாமல் விட்டு விட்டேன் உன்னை.

செல்லாமல் இங்கே நின்று என்னைக்
கொல்லாமல் கொல்லுகிறாய் மேலும்!

தேவாதி தேவன் ஆனால் என்ன?
மூவர்க்கும் முதல்வன் ஆனால் என்ன?

தேவர்களைக் கனவிலும் சிறை விடேன்.”
ஏவினான் தன் மறவர்கள் ஆயிரவரை.

“தூதுவனைக் கொல்வது பாவச் செயல்.
தூதுவனைச் சிறையில் தள்ளுங்கள்!”

ஆயிரவர் வீரவாகுவைச் சிறைப்பிடிக்க
ஆர்வத்தோடு தாவி முன்னே ஓடினர்.

விரைந்து எழுந்த வீரபாகு பற்றினார்
வீரர்களின் குடுமிகளை ஒன்றாக.

ஓங்கி அடித்துக் கொன்று விட்டு
ஓரிடத்தில் போட்டார் உடல்களை.

“முருகனின் வேற்படையால் அழிவாய்!”
விரைந்து நீங்கினார் அரசவையை.

அரியணையும் விண் வழியாகவே
விரைந்துசென்று மறைந்து விட்டது.

3 # 12.h. Killing of one thousand asuras.

Soorapadman became very angry on hearing Veerabaahu’s words.

“I did not kill you since you were sent by a toddler. You stand there and mock at me by praising that boy. What is the big deal if he is the supreme God or the god of gods? I shall never release the prisoners.”

He ordered a thousand soldiers standing nearby. “Arrest that fellow and throw him in the prison. We should not kill the messengers.”

The soldiers advanced eagerly to capture Veerabaahu. He rose up and caught hold of the knotted hair of all the one thousand soldiers.

He smashed them and killed them. He threw their bodies in a heap. He left the durbar with the words, “The spear of murugan will destroy you!”

The throne also ascended into the sky and disappeared speedily.

 9z. தூமாசுரன்

அண்டை நாடுகளை வென்று அவற்றை
ஆண்டு வர விரும்பினான் தூமாசுரன்.

படைகள் நடந்தன திக்விஜயத்திற்கு;
திடீர் முடிவு திகைப்பளித்தது பலருக்கு.

தூமாசுரன் கேட்டான் அசரீரி ஒன்றினை,
“சேமமாக ஆட்சி செய்து கொண்டிருந்தாய்!

ஆசை மிகுதியால் படை நடத்துகின்றாய்;
அழிப்பான் உன்னைச் சுமுதையின் மகன்.”

திடுக்கிட்டு நின்றான் தூமாசுரன் அதுகேட்டு!
‘கெடுத்துக் கொண்டேனோ வாழ்வை நானே?”

தருமமூர்த்தி உரைத்தான் தருமத்தை.
“தருமம் தவறி நடந்தால் அழிவு உறுதி!

அருள் வேண்டினால் இல்லை அழிவு.
சரண் புகுவோம் நாம் சுமுதை மகனிடம்!”

சம்மதிக்கவில்லை மற்ற அமைச்சர்கள்.
‘இம்மாதிரியான அறிவுரையா தருவது?’

“சரண் அடைவதா சின்னப் பயலிடம்?
சிவன் அருள் பெற்று அழிவற்றவர் நீர்.

பகைவன் பிறப்பான் என்று அறிந்ததும்
பகைவனை அழிக்க வேண்டும் உடனே!

கருவில் உருவான குழந்தையை அழித்தால்,
விரைவில் விடுபடலாம் கவலையிலிருந்து!”

வித்ருமனை வரவழைத்தான் தூமாசுரன்
“சத்ருவை அழிப்பது உன்னுடைய கடமை.

கருவிலே உருவாகும் சுமுதை மகனை
விரைவில் அழித்துவிட்டு வா!” என்றான்.

39z. Dhoomaasuran

Dhoomaasuran wanted to conquer the neighboring countries and rule over them too. He led his army on a dikvijayam.

People were surprised by this sudden decision. He heard an asareeri then” You used to rule well oh Doomaasuran! Now you have become very greedy and ambitious. Beware! The son of Sumudai will destroy you!”

Dhoomaasuran was shocked! “Have I ruined my own life by this dikvijayam?” One of his ministers Dharma moorthy told him, “If we go against dharma we will be punished. If we seek the grace, we will not be punished. Let us surrender to the son of Sumudai”

The other ministers did not approve of this idea. It was unthinkable to surrender to a small baby. They told Dhoomaasuran,

“You have been blessed by Siva and you can not be destroyed by anyone. If we learn about the birth of an enemy we must kill him and be rid of all the worries. Send someone to kill the baby and then you can live without a worry”

Dhoomaasuran called Vidruman and ordered him, “Go forth and destroy the son of Sumudai now!”

5#11b. விரூபாக்ஷன்

“தனித் தனியாகக் கூறுங்கள் கருத்தினை!
இணைத்துப் பார்த்து முடிவு செய்கின்றேன்.”

கூறினான் மஹிஷன் தன் அமைச்சர்களிடம்,
கூறினர் தம் கருத்துக்களை ஒவ்வொருவராக.

விரூபாக்ஷன் அமைச்சன் முடிவு செய்தான்,
‘விரும்பும் வண்ணம் பேசி மகிழ்விப்பேன்!’

“அஹங்காரி ஒருத்தி வந்துள்ளாள் இங்கு!
அலக்ஷியம் செய்கின்றாள் நம் மன்னனை!

மூவுலகையும் வென்ற மாவீரன் மஹிஷன்
கேவலம் பெண்ணை எண்ணிக் கலங்குவதா?

அடக்கிட நான் ஒருவனே போதுமே - அவளை
மடக்கி இழுத்து வருவேன் மஹிஷியாக்கிட!

கெஞ்சினால் மிஞ்சுவார்கள் பெண்கள்;
மிஞ்சினால் கெஞ்சுவார்கள் பெண்கள்.

இழுத்து வருகிறேன் நாக பாசத்தில் கட்டி;
கழுத்தில் நாண் அணிவித்து மணப்பீர்!”

துர்த்தரன் எழுந்தான் அடுத்ததாகப் பேசிட;
துர்போதனைகள் செய்தான் தன் பங்குக்கு.

“ஆண் குணம் கொண்ட பெண்களிடம்
அதிகக் காமம் நிறைந்திருக்கும் மன்னா!

போருக்கு வந்திருந்தால் அவள் படை எங்கே?
பேருக்குக் கூறுகின்றாள் போருக்கு வந்ததாக!

வந்துள்ளாள் உன்னை வசப்படுத்திக் கொள்ள!
வந்தவள் பேச்சும் உறுதி செய்கிறது அதனை!

போர் புரியாமலேயே வெற்றி கொள்வாள் – உம்
பார் புகழும் தீரத்தைத் தனது அழகால் உறிஞ்சி!”

5#11b. Viroopaakshan

Mahishan told his ministers, “Please give your individual opinions. I shall consider them all and come to a decision.” A minister named Viroopaakshan thought to himself,” I will talk in a pleasing manner to my king Mahishan.

He said,” A proud woman has come here. She insults our king fearlessly. Why should a brave king who has conquered all the three worlds worry about a frail woman?

I myself can bring her to you tied in my Naaga paasam and make her your wife. These women are weird. If you beg of them they will taunt you. If you taunt them they will beg of you.”

Durdaran was the next minister to talk. He added evil thoughts in his opinions appropriate to his name. “That woman proclaims to have a man’s qualities. Such a woman would be filled with lust.

She claims to have come here to fight with us but she has come without an army. She has come her to infatuate you with her rare beauty. She won’t come alone for a war. She will win over you without waging a war just by using her beauty.”

13. சதமுகன்.

ஆயிரம் பேரைக் கொன்ற வீரவாகுவின்
ஆற்றல் கண்டான் அசுரன் சூரபத்மன்.

அருகில் இருந்த சதமுகனிடம் சொன்னான்,
“விரைந்து பிடித்து இழுத்துகொண்டு வா!”

சூரபத்மனின் ஆணையைக் கேட்டவன்
நூறு ஆயிரம் வீரர்களுடன் சென்றான்.

வீரவாகுவை வழிமறித்தான் சதமுகன்
“விட்டு விடுவேன் என எண்ணினாயா?”

நூறு ஆயிரம் வீரர்களும் எய்தனர்
ஒருசேரப் பற்பல படைகலன்களை.

முடிகள் இருபதினாயிரம் கொண்ட
மலையைப பறித்து எறிந்தார் வீரவாகு.

படைஞர்கள் உடல் உடைந்து போனது.
படையின்றிப் பொருதான் சதமுகன்.

மலையைப் பிடுங்கி வீரவாகு வீச
கணைகளால் அழித்தான் சதமுகன்.

வில்லை முறித்து விட்டார் வீரவாகு.
தொல்லை தரக் கரங்களை நீட்டினான்.

மார்பில் தாக்கி, நிலத்தில் வீழ்த்தி
மண்ணில் தேய்த்துக் கொன்றார்.

 3 # 13. Sathamukhan.

Soorapadman watched with surprise the way Veerabaahu killed a thousand asuras. He ordered Sathamukhan,”Capture that fellow and imprison him”.

Sathamukhan rushed with one hundred thousand soldiers. He stopped Veerabaahu and asked, “Did you think you can get away from here?”

All the soldiers shot various asthras on Veerabaahu. He threw a mountain which has 20,000 peaks. It crushed the hundred thousand soldiers. Sathamukhan fought single-handedly now.

Veerabaahu threw another mountain on him. Sathamukhan shattered it with an arrow. Veerabaahu broke his bow.

He attacked Sathamukhan and made him fall on the ground. He crushed Sathamukhan under his feet and killed him.

 9a. வித்ருமன்

மாதவன் அரண்மனையில் நுழைந்தனர்;
தோதாகக் கடத்தினர் கட்டில் சகிதம்

மாதவனையும் சுமுதையையும் காட்டிற்கு!
ஏதும் அறியவில்லை அவர்கள் நித்திரையில்.

அமைதியாக உறங்கும் கர்ப்பிணிப் பெண்ணை
அழிக்க மனம் வரவில்லை வித்ருமனுக்கு.

கொல்வதே பாவம் பெண்களை – அதிலும்
கொல்வது மகா பாவம் கர்ப்பிணிகளை.

கொல்லவும் மனம் வரவில்லை அவனுக்கு;
கொல்லாமல் செல்லவும் வழியில்லை!

இருதலைக் கொள்ளி ஏறும்பானான் அவன்!
அரச கட்டளையா அன்றிக் கருணை உள்ளமா?

கண் விழித்துப் பார்த்த சுமுதை அஞ்சினாள்.
கணவனும் இருந்தான் அருகில் கட்டிலில்;

கட்டில் இருந்தது வெட்டவெளியில், காட்டில்!
கண் எதிரே கொலைப் படைகளுடன் வீர்கள்.

எழுப்பினாள் கணவன் மாதவனை மெல்ல.
எழுந்த மாதவனும் திடுக்கிட்டு அஞ்சினான்.

“தூமாசுரனின் தளபதி வித்ருமன் நான் தான்.
தூமாசுரனை அழிக்குமாம் ஒரு குழந்தை.

வளருகிறதாம் அது அரசியின் கருவில்!
வளர்ந்து ஆளாகக் கூடாது அந்தக் குழந்தை.

அதை அழித்துவிட வந்துள்ளோம் நாங்கள்.
ஆனால் விழித்துக் கொண்டீர்கள் நீங்கள்.”

#39A. Vidruman

Vidruman and his men entered the palace of Madhavan. They lifted the cot on which Madhavan and Sumudai were sleeping and kidnapped them easily to the nearby forest. Since they were in deep sleep they did not realize this.

Sumudai was sleeping quietly and Vidurman could not bring himself to kill her. He knew it was a sin to kill a woman and killing a pregnant woman was a greater sin.

But he could not disobey Dhoomaasuran without losing his own head! He was in a real dilemma as to whether to obey the king’s order or the principles of dharma?

Meanwhile Sumudai woke up. She was on her cot with her husband but the cot was in the middle of a jungle and they were surrounded by the enemy soldiers with deadly weapons.

She woke up Madhavan quietly. He got the shock of his life to see the armed killers. Vidruman spoke to them, “I am the army chief of Dhoomaasuran. My name is Vidruman.

We learned that a child will be born to destroy Dhoomaasuran. That child is growing in the womb of this queen Sumudai. We have been sent to kill the baby. You woke up before we could do our job”

5#11c. துர்த்தரன்

பாணம் என்பது அவள் கடைக் கண் பார்வை!
போர் என்பது இருவரின் காமப் போராட்டம்!

"பிராணனை வாங்க வந்தேன்!" என்கின்றாள்.
பிராணன் என்பது உமது வீரிய சக்தியாகும்.

"என்னைக் கண்டதும் வெளிப்படும் வீரியம்;
என்ன சொன்னாலும் ஏற்றுக் கொள்வான்!"

ஏழை தேவர்களின் குறைகளைக் கூறித்
தோழமை கருதி நன்மை செய்வாளோ?

"வரவில்லை என் வரவை அறிந்த பின்னும்!
வரவில்லை என் அழகைக் கேட்ட பின்னும்!"

இந்தக் கோபத்தினால் சொன்ன சொல் தான்
"அந்த எருமைக் கடா அங்கே இருக்கின்றான்!"

குறிப்பறிந்து உம்மைத் தன்னிடம் அனுப்பாத
வெறுப்பினால் அமைச்சனை மாடு என்றாள்.

வெளிப்படையாகக் கூறார் பெண்கள் அன்பை;
வெளிப்படுத்துவர் விருப்பத்தை ஜாடையாக!

புரியவில்லை இது தூது போன அமைச்சனுக்கு.
அறியவில்லை அவன் காம லீலைகளைப் பற்றி.

"சாம, தான, பேதங்களால் அழைத்து வருவேன்
சமர்பிக்கின்றேன் அவளை உமக்கு" என்றான்!

"மன்மத லீலைகளால் அவளை மயக்கி விட்டால்
சொன்ன சொல் கேட்கும் பாவை ஆகி விடுவாள்.

வீண் பேச்சு எதற்க்காக நமக்குள் இப்போது?
விரைந்து செல்வேன் அவளிடம் இப்போது!”

ஆலோசனைகள் கூறினான் மஹிஷனுக்கு
அமைச்சன் துர்த்தரன் இங்ஙனம் விரிவாக.

5 #11c. Durdaran

Minister Durdaran gave his own interpretations to the words spoken by Devi. “Arrow is the sidelong glance cast by a woman. War is the war of love between a man and a woman.

“I have come here to take your life!” merely means she wants to steal your life force or your tejas and potency.

She thinks,’ Surely Mahishan will be infatuated with me and do whatever I command him to do.’ May be she wants to melt your heart and get some favors for her friends - the wretched Deva.

She is angry with you since you have not gone to her ever after knowing about her arrival here and hearing about her rare beauty from your messengers. That is why she called you a ‘buffalo faced man.’

The minister did not send you to her and she called him a bull since she was annoyed with him. Women never speak out their desires or love. They will give random hints and it is for the man to understand and act according to them.

The minister you have sent to her does not know the finesses in the art of love. He offers to bring her to here by saama or daanam or bedham. If only you can win over her by your powers and prowess, she will transform to become a lamb from a lioness.

Why should I waste more time in talking about her? I shall go to her and fetch her here now!” This spoke the minister Durdaran to Mahishan.

14. பேருருவம்கொள்ளல்.

சூரபத்மனின் வீரமகேந்திரத்தை
வீரவாகு அழிக்க விரும்பினார்.

முருகக் கடவுளை மனதில் போற்ற
உருவம் வளர்ந்து முட்டியது விண்ணை.

அளந்தன திக்குகளை அவர் தோள்கள்!
அளந்தன நிலத்தை அவர் கால்கள்;

நடுங்கியது உடல் பாரத்தால் நகரம்;
நான்கு புறங்களிலும் ஏறியது கடல்நீர்.

காவல் புரியும் அவுணர்கள் உடனே
ஆவலுடன் போர் புரியத் தொடங்கினர்.

இடி ஒலி ஒத்த நகைப்பொலியால்
மடமை எய்தியது மறவர் குழு.

உதைத்துத் துவைத்துப் புரட்டி ,
உருட்டி அழித்தார் அவுணர்களை.

ஊனை உண்டு மகிழப் பறவைகள்
உற்சாகத்துடன் பறந்து வந்தன.

3 # 14. Viswaroopam.

Veerabaahu wished to destroy Soorapadman’s capital city. He contemplated on Murugan and his body started to grow bigger and bigger.

His viswaroopam touched the heaven and earth. The city shook under his tremendous weight. It sank deeper into the sea.


The asuras guarding the city fell upon Veerabaahu. He laughed so loudly that the asuras lost their mind in the terrifying sound.


He kicked them, pushed them, beat them up and crushed them to death. The carrion birds flew to the city eager to devour the dead asuras.

 9b. வனவீரர்கள்

சுமுதை நடுநடுங்கினாள் இதைக் கேட்டு;
சுமுகமாகத் தப்பிக்க முயற்சி செய்தாள்.

“கருணை கொண்ட உள்ளம் தங்களுக்கு;
கருணை காட்டுங்கள் ஒரு கர்ப்பிணிக்கு.”

“கொல்லாமல் உங்களை விட்டுவிட்டால்
கொல்லப் படுவேன் தூமாசுரனால் நான்!”

சுமுதை இறைவனைப் பிரார்த்தித்தாள்,
அமுதை நிகர்த்த இனிய சொற்களால்.

வீரர்கள் தோன்றினர் அந்த வனத்தில்!
வீழ்த்தினர் எளிதில் வித்ருமன் வீரரை!

நிராயுதபாணியாக நின்றான் வித்ருமன்;
மறைந்து விட்டனர் மாயப்படை வீரர்கள்.

ஓடிச் சென்று சொன்னான் தூமாசுரனிடம்;
கடிந்து கொண்டான் அவனைத் தூமாசுரன்.

“அரண்மனையிலேயே அழித்திருக்கலாமே!
ஆரண்யத்துக்குக் கொண்டு சென்றது ஏன்?

உருவாகும் கருவையும் அழிக்கவில்லை;
உருப்படியாக எதையுமே செய்யவில்லை!”

உடைவாளை உருவினான் தூமாசுரன்;
படைத் தலைவனின் சிரம் உருண்டது.

அமைச்சர் கூறினார் தூமாசுரனிடம்,
“அனைத்தும் நம் நன்மைக்கே அரசே!

எதிரி மாதவனோ, மனைவியோ அல்ல!
எதிரி பிறக்கப் போகும் குழந்தை தான்.

கர்ப்பிணிப் பெண்ணைக் கொன்றால்,
கண் மூடித்தனமாக நம்மை ஏசுவர்!

காலம் கனிந்திடக் காத்திருப்போம் நாம்;
ஞாலம் செய்யாததைக் காலம் செய்யும்.

குழந்தை பிறந்ததை அறிந்த பிறகு அதை
அழிக்கும் முயற்சியில் ஈடுபடுவோம்.”

தூமாசுரன் அடைந்தான் மன அமைதி;
“ஏமாற மாட்டேன் நான் அடுத்த முறை!”

#39B. Mysterious soldiers

Sumudai trembled with fear on hearing these words. She tried her luck to escape unhurt. She told Vidruman,

”Sir! you are a kind-hearted man. Please do not hurt a pregnant women who has done no harm to anyone!”

But Vidruman replied to her, “If I don’t kill you, I will be killed by Dhoomaasuran”

Now Sumudai had none but her God to save her and her husband. She prayed sincerely to her god.

Some mysterious soldiers appeared there suddenly. They fought with the soldiers of Vidruman and killed all of them.

Vidruman was spared alive but he had lost all his weapons. The mysterious soldiers disappeared as mysteriously as they had appeared from nowhere.

Vidruman ran to Dhoomaasuran and reported the happenings. Dhoomaasuran was not happy with this. He took to task Vidruman and asked,

“You could have killed them in their palace. Why did you have to take them to the forest? You did not kill them! You did not kill the fetus. You have not done anything I told you to do”.

He drew out his sword and Vidruman’s head rolled on the ground.

A minister consoled him thus,”All is for our own good. Madhavan and his wife are not our enemies. Only the child in the womb is.

If we kill a pregnant woman, we will be blamed by everyone. Let us wait till the child is born and then we can destroy it. Let us wait for the right time to do this”

Dhoomaasuran calmed down on hearing these words. He said to himself, “I will be more careful next time!”

5#11d. தாமிரன்

“மனக் குறிப்பை உணர்ந்து சொல்ல வேண்டும்!
மனக் குறிப்புகள் ஆகா சொந்தக் கற்பனைகள்!

காமம் மிகுந்தவள் அல்ல வந்துள்ள பெண்;
காமரசச் சொற்களைப் பேசவில்லை அவள்.

விரும்பி வரவில்லை உம்மிடம் எதையும்;
தருமம் உணர்ந்த வீரம் மிகுந்த அப்பெண்.

அழகிய பெண் ஆயுதம் தாங்கியுள்ளாள்;
அழிக்க வல்லவர் யாருமில்லை உலகில்.

கேட்டதில்லை இது போன்ற பெண் பற்றி!
கண்டதில்லை இது போன்ற பெண்ணை!

வந்துள்ளாள் நமக்குத் துன்பம் தருவதற்கு;
வந்துள்ளாள் நமக்கு விபரீதம் விளைவிக்க.

உதய காலத்தில் கனவு கண்டேன் இன்று;
உதிரமயமான ஆடையில் இருந்தாள் நின்று.

அழுது கொண்டிருந்தாள் வீட்டின் முன் நின்று;
விழித்து விட்டேன் பதறியடித்துக் கொண்டு.

கூச்சலிடுப் பறந்தன பறவைகள் அப்போது;
அச்சம் தந்தன தோன்றிய துர் சகுனங்கள்.

விசித்திரப் பெண் வந்துள்ளாள் நம்மிடம்;
விளிக்கின்றாள் அறைகூவிப் போருக்கு!

‘வினாசகாலே விபரீத புத்தி’ என்பார்கள்
விபரீத புத்தி உண்டாகியுள்ளது உமக்கு!

வந்துள்ள பெண் மானிடப் பெண்ணல்ல;
வந்துள்ளவள் தானவப் பெண்ணல்ல.

மாயையால் உருவானவள் இந்தப் பெண்.
மாய்க்க இயலாது அவளை எவராலும்.

நடப்பது நடந்தே தீரும் மாற்ற முடியாது;
உடனடியாகப் போருக்குச் செல்வோம்!”

5#11d. Thaamran

Thaamran did not agree with the views of Durdaran. He said, “Interpretations should not be one’s own imagination. The woman who has come here is not filled with lust.She has not spoken about love or lust.

She has not come here seeking anything from you. She knows the right from the wrong and is valorous. A beautiful woman has taken up arms. She says nothing and nobody can destroy her.

I have not seen or heard about such a woman all my life. I am sure she has come here to create difficulties and problems for asuras.

I had a bad dream early today morning. I saw a woman in blood colored clothes weeping in front of her house. I got startled and woke up from my sleep. The screeching of the birds was accompanied by many ill omens.

A strange young woman comes to us. She challenges us to fight with her. ‘Vinaasa kaale vipareetha buddhi’ and your buddhi is already perverted.

The woman who has come here is neither a human nor an asuri. She is the personification on Maayaa. She can’t be destroyed.

Whatever will happen will happen. Let us get ready for the war.” Thaamran concluded his long speech.

15. அழித்தல் செய்தல்.

சூரபத்மனின் அரசவை மண்டபத்தை
வீரவாகு அழித்திட விரும்பினார்.

அருகிலிருந்த செய்குன்று ஒன்றினால்
பெரும் பகுதியை உடைத்து விட்டார்.

ஓடினர் சிலர்; மாண்டனர் சிலர்;
ஒடிந்தது சிலரது கை கால்கள்;

ஆற்றலைக் கண்டதும் அவர்மேல்
சீற்றம் கொண்டான் சூரபத்மன்.

“ஆறுமுகனின் தூதன் வீரவாகு
அழித்துவிட்டான் அரசவையை.

பிடித்து கொணருங்கள் உயிரோடு!
அடைத்து வைப்போம் சிறையில்!”

நகர் வளத்தைத் அழிக்க விரும்பி
தகர்த்தார் மண்டபங்கள், கோபுரம்.

உடைத்து வீழ்த்தினார் மதில்களை.
படைகளைப் பந்தாடினார் திசைகளில்,

செய்குன்றுகளைப் பறித்து எறிந்ததில்
சோலைகள் முற்றிலும் நாசமாயின.

விண்ணில் பறந்து சென்ற பின்னர்
மண்ணில் வீழ்ந்து நகரை அழித்தன.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

# 15. The destruction.

Veerabaahu wanted to destroy Soorapadman’s durbar. He grabbed an artificial mound nearby and smashed the durbar. Some of the asuras got killed; some of them ran away and some others had fractured limbs.

Soorapadman got violent and commanded his army,
“Murugan’s messenger has destroyed my durbar. Arrest him and throw him in a prison.”

Veerabaahu decided to destroy the city and he smashed the mandapam, gopurams and the surrounding wall of the city.

The army was kicked away in every direction. Then he threw the artificial mounds. They flew in the sky, landed on the city and destroyed it completely.

9c. பாலச்சந்திரன்

நாட்டுக்குத் திரும்பவில்லை இருவரும்;
காட்டிலேயே வாழக் கற்றுக்கொண்டனர்.

கனி, கிழங்குகளை உண்ணலாயினர்;
தனிமையில் திரிந்தனர் கானகத்தில்.

நெருங்கி விட்டது சுமுதையின் பிரசவம்,
விரும்பி வந்தார் குழந்தையாக விநாயகர்.

நான்கு கரங்களில் நான்கு ஆயுதங்கள்,
மூன்று கண்களுடன் அதிசயக் குழந்தை.

அணைத்துக் கொண்டாள் அழகிய குழவியை,
வினவினாள் அவனைப் பற்றிய விவரங்களை.

“பாலசந்திரன் என்பார்கள் என்னை – உன்
பக்திக்கு மெச்சி வந்துள்ளேன் முன்பும்!

வரமளித்தேன் விஷ்ணுவாகத் தோன்றி!
வனத்தில் காத்தேன் வீரர்களை அனுப்பி!

தூமாசுரன் விரும்புகிறான் கருவை அழிக்க.
ஏமாற்ற வந்தேன் சிறு குழந்தையாக மாறி!”

சுற்றிச் சுற்றி வந்து கொண்டே இருந்தனர்
ஒற்றர்கள் பிரசவத்தை எதிர்நோக்கியவாறு.

பிரசவம் ஆகும் முன்னரே சுமுதை மடியில்
பிரகாசமான குழவியைக் கண்டு வியந்தனர்!

ஓடினர் உடனே மன்னன் தூமாசுரனிடம்;
மடியில் குழந்தையைப் பற்றிக் கூறினர்.

“நான்கு கரங்கள், மூன்று கண்கள் கொண்ட
நானிலத்தில் அதிசயமான ஒரு குழந்தை!”

சதுரங்க சேனை தயாரானது போருக்கு!
அதிசயக் குழந்தையை அழிப்பது எளிதா?

படை நடந்து அடைந்தது அந்த வனத்தை.
படை சூழ்ந்து கொண்டது அந்த வனத்தை

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
