VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

9v. தூமாசுரன்

தூமாசுரன் மகிபாதினியை ஆண்டு வந்தான்.
உமா மகேஸ்வரனிடம் பக்தி கொண்டவன்.

ஆதரித்தான் அடியவர்களை அன்போடு;
ஆட்சி புரிந்தான் குறைவு ஏதும் இன்றி.

மந்திரிகள் எண்மர்; மகன்கள் நால்வர்;
மகிழ்ந்திருந்தான் தன் மனைவியருடன்

பிருகு முனிவர் வந்தார் தூமாசுரனிடம்;
பிருகுவைச் சீடர்களுடன் கௌரவித்தான்.

பிறகு கே ட்டான் தன் மனத்தின் ஐயத்தை,
“பிறந்தேன் அசுர குலத்தில் நான் எதற்காக?”

முக்காலமும் அறிந்தவர் பிருகு முனிவர்;
முற்கால நிகழ்ச்சிகளைக் கூறலானார்.

முற்பிறப்பில் தூமாசுரன் பெயர் விகுதி;
நற்பண்புகளும், புகழும் வாய்திருந்தான்.

இந்திரப் பதவியை விரும்பினான் விகுதி;
அந்த முயற்சியில் செய்தான் யாகங்கள்.

முடிந்தன தொண்ணூற்றொன்பது யாகங்கள்;.
மிகுந்து இருந்தது நூறாவது யாகம் மட்டுமே.

யாகத்தை முடித்துவிட்டால் சுவர்க்க
போகம் தேடி வந்து விடும் விகுதியை!

“பறிபோகுமோ பதவி?” அஞ்சினான் இந்திரன்;
பரிதவித்தான் செய்வது அறியாமல் இந்திரன்.

மன்னன் விகுதி மகேசன் அருள் பெற்றவன்;
மண்ணைக் கவ்வச் செய்ய முடியாது எளிதில்.

அபாயம் ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும் அவனுக்கு
உபாயம் ஒன்றைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதன் மூலம்.

கசக்கினான் மூளையை; நன்கு சிந்தித்தான்;
விகசிக்கவில்லை தக்க உபாயம் ஒன்றும்

நாரதர் வந்தார் நல்ல சமயத்தில் அவ்விடம்;
“நன்மைகள் செய்வேன் இந்திரா!” என்றார்.

5#10b. அமைச்சனின் பதில்

“வீர வசனங்கள் பேசினாய் பெண்ணே!
வீர மொழிகள் உரியவை ஆண்களுக்கு.

இனிய பேதைத்தன்மையே ஆகும் – நல்ல
அணிகலன் உன் போன்ற பெண்களுக்கு.

எண்ணி விடாதே மஹிஷனை இளப்பமாக!
பெண்ணே! எங்கே உன் சேனை எனக் கூறு!

தனியாக வந்துள்ளாய் எம்முடன் போரிட!
தயார் நிலையில் சேனை மஹிஷனிடம்!

ஏந்தியுள்ளாய் நீ ஆயுதங்கள் பதினெட்டு;
எண்ணிலடங்கா மஹிஷனின் ஆயுதங்கள்!

மலரினும் மெல்லிய உடல் கொண்ட நீ
மலையொத்த மஹிஷனை வெல்லுவதா?

யுவதிப் பருவத்தில் உள்ளவள் நீ – மஹிஷன்
யுத்தத்துக்கு என்றே உடல் படைத்தவன்.

மதயானையிடம் அகப்பட்ட மலர்செண்டாக
பேதமையால் வீணே அழிந்து விடாதே நீ!

கொண்டுள்ளாய் மமதை உன் இளமையால்;
விண்டுள்ளாய் தகாத மொழிகளை என்னிடம்.

அழித்திருப்பேன் உன்னை ஒரே பாணத்தால்;
பிழைத்தாய் மஹிஷன் கொண்ட காமத்தால்.

காலடியில் சமர்பிப்பான் தன் செல்வங்களை;
காலால் இட்ட பணியைத் தலையால் செய்வான்.

மரணம் அடைவாய் நீ மகிஷனுடன் பொருதால்!
மரணம் அடைவான் அவன் உன்னை இழந்தால்!

இறப்பதனால் கிடைப்பது என்ன என்று கூறு
சிறப்பாக வாழ வேண்டிய நீங்கள் இருவரும்?”

5#10b. The minister’s reply

The minister spoke to Devi now,” You gave a valorous speech which belongs to a man and not to a young and tender girl like you. Women like must be adorned by innocence and timidness.

Don’t think that Mahishan is a good for nothing fellow just because he fell in love with you . You say you have come to destroy us. But you are all alone! Where is your army? Mahishan’s huge army is always in readiness.

You carry eighteen weapons in you tender arms! The weapons Mahishan possesses can not be counted. You look like the creeper of a flowering plant and Mahishan is of the size of a huge mountain.

You are in your sweet young age but Mahishan is born to win in wars. You will get destroyed by him the way a flower bouquet will be by a mad elephant.

Don’t get destroyed due to your foolishness.You are conceited by your youth and beauty. You have spoken to me most inappropriate words. I could have killed you with a single arrow. You are saved by the infatuation Mahishan has for you.

Mahishan wil lay at your feet everything that is his. He will fulfill all your wishes and commands. If you fight with him, you are sure to get killed. He will kill himself after seeing you dead. What is the use of two people giving up their lives in stead of living in pleasure and joy?”

12e. வீரவாகுவின் பதில்.

சூரபத்மனின் ஏளனச் சொற்களால்
வீரவாகுத் தேவர் கொண்டார் சினம்;

“மாயக் கூத்தாடி ஆக்கினாய் என்னை!
மாலவன் மருகன் முருகன் தூதனை!

தாரகனை, கிரௌஞ்சனை நொடியில்
கீறிய வேற்படை கொண்ட நாயகன்

முருகவேள் நம் முழு முதற் கடவுள்!
அருள் கூர்ந்து அனுப்பினார் தூது.”

“ஆறுமுகன் உன்னை இங்கு தூதாக
அனுப்பிய காரணம் ஏதெனக் கூறு!”

“அமரர் கோனை, அயிராணியை விரட்டி
அழித்தாய் பொன்னுலகைக் கொளுத்தி.

தேவர்களை வாட்டினாய் சிறைப்படுத்தி.
பூதப்படையோடு வந்தோம் சிறை மீட்க.

திருச்செந்தூரில் நெருநல் எழுந்தருளி
அருள்கொண்டு அனுப்பினார் தூது.

காசியப முனிவரின் மகனாகப் பிறந்தும்
யோசியாமல் இழிதொழில் புரிகிறாய்!

பிறருக்குத் துன்பம் இழைப்பவர்கள்
இறப்பர் பல தொல்லைகள் அடைந்து.

மேன்மைகளோடு வாழவேண்டுமா ?
மேலான தேவர்களை விடுதலை செய்!”

KANDA PURAANAM - MAHENDRA KAANDAM

3 # 12 e. Veerabaahu’s reply.

Veerabaahu became angry on hearing Soorapadman’s words.

“You have reduced me to the state of a performer, a juggler. I am the messenger of Murugan, the beloved nephew of Maha Vishnu. His spear tore apart Taarakan and Krounjan in a minute. He is the supreme among Gods.”

“Why has Murugan sent you here. Tell me quickly!”

“You chased away Indra and Indraani from swarGga. You destroyed swargGa, arrested and tortured the Devas. Murugan has come to release the devas from your prison. He is now camping in Thiruchendoor.

You are the son of the venerable Kashyapa rushi and yet your behavior is so mean. One who inflicts harm on others will suffer for his actions. If you want to continue to live in luxury, release the devas from your prison immediately!”

Veerabaahu conveyed Murugan’s message in this manner.

தூமாசுரன் மகிபாதினியை ஆண்டு வந்தான்.
உமா மகேஸ்வரனிடம் பக்தி கொண்டவன்.

ஆதரித்தான் அடியவர்களை அன்போடு;

மந்திரிகள் எண்மர்; மகன்கள் நால்வர்;
மகிழ்ந்திருந்தான் தன் மனைவியருடன்

பிருகு முனிவர் வந்தார் தூமாசுரனிடம்;
பிருகுவைச் சீடர்களுடன் கௌரவித்தான்.

பிறகு கே ட்டான் தன் மனத்தின் ஐயத்தை,
“பிறந்தேன் அசுர குலத்தில் நான் எதற்காக?”

முக்காலமும் அறிந்தவர் பிருகு முனிவர்;
முற்கால நிகழ்ச்சிகளைக் கூறலானார்.

முற்பிறப்பில் தூமாசுரன் பெயர் விகுதி;
நற்பண்புகளும், புகழும் வாய்திருந்தான்.

இந்திரப் பதவியை விரும்பினான் விகுதி;
அந்த முயற்சியில் செய்தான் யாகங்கள்.

முடிந்தன தொண்ணூற்றொன்பது யாகங்கள்;.
மிகுந்து இருந்தது நூறாவது யாகம் மட்டுமே.

யாகத்தை முடித்துவிட்டால் சுவர்க்க
போகம் தேடி வந்து விடும் விகுதியை!

“பறிபோகுமோ பதவி?” அஞ்சினான் இந்திரன்;
பரிதவித்தான் செய்வது அறியாமல் இந்திரன்.

மன்னன் விகுதி மகேசன் அருள் பெற்றவன்;
மண்ணைக் கவ்வச் செய்ய முடியாது எளிதில்.

அபாயம் ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும் அவனுக்கு
உபாயம் ஒன்றைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதன் மூலம்.

கசக்கினான் மூளையை; நன்கு சிந்தித்தான்;
விகசிக்கவில்லை தக்க உபாயம் ஒன்றும்

நாரதர் வந்தார் நல்ல சமயத்தில் அவ்விடம்;
“நன்மைகள் செய்வேன் இந்திரா!” என்றார்.

39 u. Dhoomaasuran

Dhoomaasuran ruled over Mahipaadini. He was a staunch devotee of lord Siva. He took good care of his citizens and ruled well. He had five wives, four sons and eight ministers and lived a happy and contented life.

Once Brugu rushi came to meet him along with his disciples. Dhoomaasuran welcomed them and looked after their needs. He then asked his long standing doubt to the sage Brugu, “Why was I born as an asuran?” Brugu knew all the happenings in the past and told him this.

“In your previous birth you were a king named Viguthi. You aspired for the position of Indra and started doing the required one hundred yaagaas. You successfully completed ninety nine and only the last yaagaa remained to be completed.

If that were completed then you would become the new Indra. So Indra got worried and wanted to retain his post and place in the heaven. Since you were a good king, he could not resort to any tricks or treachery.

He tried to think up a scheme but nothing occurred to him! Just then Narada came to him and said, “I will make sure that your post and position in swargga are not endangered”

9w. சிவஜன்மன்

யாக சாலைக்குப் புறப்பட்டார் நாரதர்,
ஆகிவிட்டார் வயோதிக அந்தணராக.

தட்டுத் தடுமாறி கையில் கோலுடன்,
கிட்டே வந்தார் விகுதி ராஜனிடம்.

ஆசனம் அளித்து உபசரித்தான் – “உமது
அவசியத் தேவை எது?” எனக் கேட்டான்.

‘சிவ ஜன்மன் என்பது என் பெயர் – நான்
கிழ ஜன்மன் ஆகிவிட்டேன் பார் இன்று.

பிரமச்சரியம் காத்து வந்தேன் இதுவரை.
இறக்கும் முன் துய்க்க வேண்டும் இன்பம்.

எனது அவசியத் தேவை உன் மனைவி!”
என்று கூறினார் சிவஜன்மனான நாரதர்.

திடுக்கிட்டு நின்றுவிட்டான் விகுதி ராஜன்
‘அடுக்குமா இது உலகில்?” எனச் சிந்தித்தான்.

‘பிறன் மனைவியைத் தானம் கேட்பதா?
அறம் ஒத்துக் கொள்ளுமா இதனை?’

“தரும நெறிக்குப் புறம்பானது இது.
தருவேன் வேறெதை விரும்பினாலும்.”

“வாக்குத் தந்தாய் நீயாகவே வந்து எனக்கு;
சாக்குப் போக்குச் சொல்கிறாய் இப்போது ”

“ஆண்டு அனுபவித்த மனைவியை நான்
மீண்டும் தானமாக எப்படித் தருவேன்?

தகாத பொருளைத் தானம் கேட்பதும் பாவம்
தகாத பொருளைத் தானம் தருவதும் பாவம்!”

“ஆர்வத்தை உருவாக்கி விட்டு விட்டு என்
ஆர்வத்தைக் குலைக்கிறாய் நீயே இப்போது.

யாகசாலைக்கு வந்து தானம் கேட்டவர்
போகக் கூடாது திரும்பி ஏமாற்றத்துடன்.

யாகம் பூர்த்தி ஆகவேண்டும் என்றால்
போகப் பொருளைத் தர மறுக்காதே!”

#39w. Sivajanman

Narada changed himself into an old and infirm Brahmin and walked to the yagasaalaa with a stick in hand and in faltering steps. Viguthi Raajan welcomed him, offered him a seat and asked about his requirements.

“My name is Sivajanman. I observed brahmacharyam till now. I want to enjoy the pleasure of wedded life before I die. So I want your wife as a gift”

Viguthi Raajan was taken aback by this strange request. How can a man donate a woman whom he had married and enjoyed for many years.

He told the old man, “I can you anything you want but not my wife. It is against Dharma to give away one’s wife to another man.”

Sivajanman (Narada) found fault with Viguthi Raajan and said, “When I came here you promised to give me anything I desired but now you are going back on your promise.”

Viguthi told the old man,”A gift must be worthy of giving away. Asking for an improper gift is a sin. Giving away an improper thing is also sin”.

Now the old man threatened Viguthi Raajan, “You know very well that you have to give away anything anyone desires in order to complete this yaaga. If I go away empty handed you can’t complete your yaaga”

5#10c. அமைச்சனும், தேவியும்

“வணங்கி வேண்டுகின்றேன் உன்னிடம் மீண்டும்
இணங்கி விடு மஹிஷனின் மனைவி ஆவதற்கு!

கணவனை, போகங்களை விரும்பாத நீ – ஒரு
அணங்காகப் பிறந்தது எதற்காக எனக் கூறு! ”

“அரசனுக்கு ஏற்ற அமைச்சனாக உன்னை
பிரமன் படைத்துள்ளான் இது திண்ணம்!

குணத்துக்கு ஏற்ற உருவம் கொண்டுள்ளேனா?
குணம் உருவத்துக்கேற்பக் கொண்டுள்ளேனா?

உருவத்தால் பெண், தேவ குணம் கொண்டவள்!
குணத்தால் ஓர் ஆண், அசுர குணம் கொண்டவள்!

பெண் உருவமும், ஆண் தன்மையும் என்னிடம்!
பெண் தன்மையும், ஆண் உருவமும் அவனிடம்!

ஆண் தன்மை கொண்டிருந்தால் கேட்பானா
பெண்ணால் மட்டுமே மரணம் என்ற வரம்?

விதிக்கவில்லை பிரமன் அவனுக்கு இதை;
மதியின்றிக் கோரிப்பெற்றான் அவன் இதை.

புல் மாறும் வஜ்ஜிராயுதமாக தெய்வ பலத்தால்,
புல்லாக மாறும் வஜ்ஜிராயுதம் அது இன்றேல்

என்னை என்ன செய்யும் அவன் ஆயுதங்கள்?
என்னை என்ன செய்யும் அவன் சேனைகள் ?

எடுத்துச் சொல் மஹிஷனிடம் இவற்றை!
எடுக்கும் முடிவின்படி நடப்பவை நடக்கும்”

நொந்து போய் விட்டான் மதி அமைச்சன்,
இந்த மொழிகளை தேவி கூறக் கேட்டதும்.

5#10c. Devi and the minister

The minister spoke again to Devi, “Please agree to become the wife of Mighty Mahishan, I beg of you Devi! If you do not like to have a husband or enjoy the worldly pleasures, why are you born as a woman?”

Devi mocked at him and said, “You are the befitting minister for your mighty king Mahishan! Do I have the qualities associated with my gender? No! Do I have the gender that suits my qualities? No!

I am a woman in my figure and the qualities of a Deva will suit it. I am a man in my qualities which belong to an asuran. So I have the form of a female and the qualities of a male. Mahishan has the form of a male and qualities of woman.

Otherwise would he seek the boon that he could get killed by a woman? Brahma did not bestow the boon on him forcefully. He himself wanted that boon from Brahma.

A blade of grass can act like Vajraayudam by divine grace. Vajraayudam can become a blade of grass if god’s grace is not there.

His weapons can not harm me. His army cannot win me. Explain all these to your mighty Mahishan. The future happenings will depend on his present decision”

The minister was crestfallen on hearing these words from Devi.

12f. சூரபத்மனின் சினம்.

வீரவாகு விளம்பிய சொற்கேட்டு
ஆரவாரம் செய்தான் சூரபத்மன்.

“அரசன் ஆயிரம் அண்டங்களுக்கு!
சிறுவன் எனக்கு அறிவுரை தருவதா?

தேவர்கள் வருத்தினர் அவுணர்களை .
தேவர்களைச் இட்டேன் சிறையில்.

தேவர்களை சிறைவிடேன் என்றுமே.
தேவர்களை ஒளிப்பேன் ஓரண்டத்தில் !

சிவன் எனக்குத் தந்த மேன்மைகளை
அவன் மகன் அறிகிலான் போலும்.

சிறுவனின் பேச்சைக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டு
அறிவில்லாமல் வந்துள்ளாய் நீயும்!

உயிர்ப்பிச்சை தந்தேன் தூதுவனே!
உடனே பிழைத்தோடிச் சென்றுவிடு!”

3 # 12 f. Sooarapadman’s anger.

On hearing Veerabaahu’s words Soorapadman became wild with anger and roared violently.

“I am the ruler of one thousand and eight universes. And a little boy tries to advice me! Devas troubled the asuras. So I imprisoned them. I shall never release them. I will hide them in one of my universes.

Siva has given me so many boons. May be his son is not aware of them. He sent you and you have come here all the way like a fool! I shall spare your life. Now go back to where you have come from!”

9x. சிவஜன்மன்

விகுதி ராஜன் அடைந்தான் மனத் துயரம்
‘விதி வாழ்வில் விளையாடுமோ இப்படி?’

“பத்தினியை யாசித்தீர்கள் ஐயா நீங்கள்.
பத்தினிக்குச் சமம் ஆகும் ஒருவன் நாடு.

தந்து விடுகிறேன் என் நாட்டை உமக்கே.
வந்து நிற்பார்கள் இளம் கன்னிகள் இங்கே!

விரும்பியவளைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து உங்கள்
விருப்பம் போல வாழலாம் நீங்கள்!” என்றான்.

என்ன சொன்னாலும் ஏற்கவில்லை கிழவன்.
எண்ணம் யாகத்தைக் குலைப்பது ஆயிற்றே!

“உன் புகழ்ச்சி மொழிகள் எல்லாம் பொய்!
உண்மை என்று நம்பி ஏமாந்து விட்டேன்.

என் காரியம் நிறைவேறவில்லை அதனால்
உன் யாகமும் பூர்த்தி ஆகாது ஒருபோதும்.”

விகுதி ராஜன் அவரைப் போக விடவில்லை
“தகுதி இல்லாத பொருளைத் தரமாட்டேன்.

இன்று தங்கிவிடுங்கள்; உணவு அருந்திவிட்டு
சென்று விடலாம் நாளைக் காலைவிடிந்ததும்”

சிவஜன்மன் சினம் கொண்டு சபித்தான்;
கவலைப்படவில்லை தன் செய்கைக்கு.

“பிரமச்சரியம், பின் இல்லறம், வானப்
பிரஸ்தம் என்று எண்ணியிருந்தேன்.

குலைத்துவிட்டாய் என் எண்ணங்களை!
கெடுத்துவிட்டாய் என் வாழ்க்கையினை!

அசுரனாகப் பிறப்பாய் அடுத்தபிறவியில்;
அழித்தான் சிவஜன்மன் யாகசாலையை.

வந்தவர் நாரதர் என உணர்ந்தான் விகுதி;
இந்திரன் பதவியைக் காக்கவே வந்தார்.

உண்மை தெரிந்தபின் மனம் தேறினான்.
ஜன்மம் எடுத்தான் தூமராஜனாக அடுத்து.

39x. Sivajanman

Viguthi Raajan was saddened by the cruel play of Fate in his life. He made a fresh offer to the old man.

“The country of a King is equated to his wife. I shall give away my entire kingdom to you. All the pretty young girls will line up here. You may select the one you like best and live with her happily.”

But the old man was adamant and will compromise on anything – since he had come there in order to ruin the yaagaa.

“I have heard so much about you good qualities, but now I find that they are all utter lies. My request was not fulfilled by you. So your yaagaa will not be fulfilled either.”

Viguthi Raajan did not allow the old man to go off in a huff. He pleaded with him to stay there for the night and leave the next day after eating something.

But the old man did not listen to his words. He cursed Viguhti Raajan, “I was planning to get married and go for Vaanaprastaa later. But you have ruined all my plans. You will be born as an asuran in your next birth”

Viguthi Raajan realized that it was Narada who had come disguised as an old an in order to help Indra retain his power and position. He could console himself after realizing this truth.

Now he was born as Dhoomaasuran in this birth.

5#10d. அமைச்சனின் குழப்பம்

வந்த காரியம் நிறைவேறவும் இல்லை – இங்கு
வந்துள்ளவளைக் கொல்லவும் இயலவில்லை.

மயங்கினான் செய்வது அறியாமல் அமைச்சன்;
தயங்கினான் மஹிஷனிடம் திரும்பிச் செல்ல.

உள்ளனர் மதியமைச்சர்கள் பலர் – அவர்கள்
உள்ளத்தில் தோன்றியபடிச் செய்யட்டும் இனி.

விரைந்தான் மஹிஷனின் அரண்மனைக்கு,
உரைத்தான் நிகழ்ந்தவைகளை விவரமாக!

“எடுத்துக் கூறினேன் உம் வேண்டுகோளை;
எடுத்துக் கூறினேன் உம் பெருமைகளை.

சிரித்தாள் ஏளனமாக என் மொழி கேட்டு,
‘புரிவதா திருமணம் எருமைக் கடாவுடன்?

எருமைக் கடா இச்சிக்க வேண்டும் வேரொரு
எருமையை, என் போன்ற பெண்ணையல்ல!

பலிகடா ஆவான் அந்த எருமைக் கடா!
பலிக்கும் தேவர்களின் சுவர்க்கக் கனவு!

அழித்து விடுகிறேன் மஹிஷனை விரைந்து ;
அளித்து விடுகிறேன் சுவர்க்கத்தை விரைந்து.’

கொன்றிருப்பேன் அந்த அஹங்காரியை.
வென்றிருக்கிறாள் உங்கள் அபிமானத்தை.

விட்டு விட்டேன் அவளை அதை எண்ணி;
விட்டுச் செல்லப் போகின்றீரா சுவர்க்கத்தை?

திரும்பப் போகின்றீர்களா பாதாள உலகம்?
விருப்பம் போலச் செய்யுங்கள் அரசே”.

5#10d. The minister’s confusion

The minister got confused not knowing what to do next. The strange girl would not accept Mahishan’s offer. Nor could he kill her since Mahishan was infatuated with her.

He hesitated to go back to Mahishan without accomplishing hs mission but he had very little choice.

He said to himself ,”There are many more ministers besides me. Let them also rake their brains and give suggestions to Mahishan.” So went back to the palace and told Mahishan the happenings.

“I told that strange girl your wishes. I explained to her your greatness. But she laughed at me mockingly. She asked me,

"Marry a buffalo faced fellow? A buffalo must marry another buffalo and not a woman like me. He will be sacrificed in the war and the swarggam will be returned to the Deva."

I could have killed her then and there. But I controlled myself thinking of your love for her. Are you going to quit swarggam and go back to Paatalaa? Do whatever you deem fit oh king!” the minister said.

12g. வீரவாகுவின் சினம்.

சூரபத்மனின் சொற்களைக் கேட்டு
வீரவாகுத் தேவர் நகைக்கலானார்.

“உய்யும் வழி அறியாத அவுணனே!
உள்ளதை உள்ளபடி அறிந்துகொள்!

திங்கட்பிரானின் திருநுதற் கண்ணின்
தீப்பொறியாக வந்தவன் திருமுருகன்.

சிறுவன் என நீ கூறிடும் முருகன்
மறு உருவம் ஆவான் சிவபிரானின்.

சிவன் வேறு முருகன் வேறு அல்ல.
சிவனே சிறுவன் முருகனும் ஆவான்.

மேன்மைகள் தந்த இறைவன் அந்த
மேன்மைகளை அழிக்கவும் வல்லவன்.

திங்கட் பிரானின் மகனாகத் தோன்றி
எங்கும் நிறைந்துள்ள முருகனுக்கு,

எங்கும் திருமுகங்கள், திருக்கண்கள்;
எங்கும் திருவுடல், திருக்காதுகள்,

எங்கும் திருவடிகள், திருக்கைகள்.
இங்கங்கு எனாது எங்கும் உளான்!

மறைகளின் மூலமாகிய பிரணவம்,
முருகனின் முகங்களில் ஒன்றாகும்.

தெய்வங்கள் அனைவரும் முருகனே.
மெய்யறிவு தருபவனும் முருகனே.

அவன் அன்றி அணுவும் அசையாது.
அவன் மாயையில் மயங்கினை நீ!

அவனை இகழ்ந்த நாவை அறுப்பேன்!
அவன் கட்டளை அது அல்லவென்று

உன்னை உயிருடன் விட்டு விடுகிறேன்
என் இறைவனைக் குறைகள் கூறாதே!

3.#12g. Veera Bhaahu's anger

Veera Bhaahu became very angry and laughed at Soora Padman.

" Think of how you can save yourself from the wrath of Murugan. Know the truth that Murugan has emerged from the fiery third eye of Lord Siva.

Murugan is not different from Lord Siva. It is the immense powr of Siva which has assumed the form of his son Murugan.

He is all pervading. He has numereous faces, numerous eyes, numerous bodies, numerous ears, numerous feet and numerous hands.

The pranava which is the root of all the Vedas is one of his six faces. He is the supreme god of all the other gods. He is the one who bestows true knowledge.

He makes every action take place and everything happen. You are deluded by him. I can cut off your tongue for having spoken ill of my Lord and God Murugan.

But that was not ordered by him. So I spare your life. Never again speak ill of Muruguan."

Veerabhaahu took to task the wicked Soorapdman in this manner.

9y. சுமுதை

மாதவன் ஆண்டான் மகிபாதினியை;
மனைவி கற்புக்குக்கரசியான சுமுதை.

புத்திரப் பேறு இல்லை இவர்களுக்கு;
நித்தம் குறைகூறினான் மனைவியை.

‘வெறுமையான வாழ்வே தண்டனை!
வெறுக்கும் கணவனும் தேவையா?’ என

நாட்டைத் துறந்து விட்டாள் சுமுதை;
காட்டுக்குச் சென்றாள் தவம் செய்திட.

‘விரதத்தால் புத்திரபேறு! அன்றேல்
இரையாவேன் வன விலங்குகளுக்கு!’

நாரணனைக் குறித்துச் செய்தாள் தவம்;
நான்கு புறங்களிலும் மறைத்தன புதர்கள்!

விஷ்ணுவாகத் தோன்றினார் விநாயகர்,
“வேண்டும் வரம் யாது?” என்று கேட்டார்.

‘திருக் குமாரனாக நீர் அவதரிக்க வேண்டும்.
திரும்பவும் கணவனின் அன்பு வேண்டும்”

“நிறைவேறும் விருப்பம் விரைவில்!”
உறுதி மொழி அளித்தார் இறைவன்.

தவம் ஆக்கியது புடமிட்ட பொன்னாக.
தவத்தால் ஒளிர்ந்தாள் தேக காந்தியுடன்.

கண்டவர் வியந்தனர் தேக காந்தியால்!
கணவனும் வியந்தான் தேக காந்தியால்!

இல்லறம் இனிக்கலானது இருவருக்கும்
சொல்லிய சொல்லும் பலித்தது விரைவில்.

கருவுற்றாள் சுமுதை, மனம் மகிழ்ந்தாள்;
கருவிலே உருவானவன் நாராயணனே!

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

39y. Sumudai

Madavan ruled over Mahipaadini. Sumudai was his loyal wife. They did not have any children. Madavan kept blaming Sumudai for this. She yearned for a child and her husband’s cruel words tortured her.

She decided to go to the forest and do penance. She said to herself. ‘Either I will come back with a boon for a son or I will end up as food for the wild beasts there.”

She meditated of Naarayanan. Several years passed by and she was completely covered bu the plants and bushes all around her. Vinayaka appeared to her as Vishnu and blessed her.

Sumudai asked for two boons, “I must beget you as my son. I must win back my husband’s love” God blessed her and granted her these boons.

Sumudai went back to her country. Now she glowed with the aura her severe penance had bestowed on her. People were wonder struck to see her glow like pure gold.

Her husband Madavan was also surprised by her glow and accepted her with affection. They lived happily and soon Sumudai conceived a son. It was Narayana himself who was in her womb.

5#11a. மந்திராலோசனை

தூது சென்ற அமைச்சன் கூறியதை மஹிஷன்
ஏதும் குறுக்கிடாமல் நன்கு ஊன்றிக் கேட்டான்.

மந்திராலோசனை நடந்தினான் அதன்பின்
மந்திரிகளோடும் வயது முதிர்ந்தவரோடும்.

“வந்துள்ளாள் பெண் தேவர்கள் நலன் விரும்பி.
வந்து விட்டது விந்தைப் பெண் மீது மோஹம்!

ஏசி இழிவாகப் பேசியவளை இன்னமும் நான்
நேசிப்பது விந்தையல்லவா எனக் கூறுங்கள்.

அடக்குவேன் அவளை என் மனைவியாக்கி!
அடக்குவேன் அவளை அனுபவித்த பிறகு!

அடக்கி விட்டால் அவளை அதற்கும் முன்பே
அடங்கி விடும் இன்பக் கனவுகளும் அத்துடன்.

எப்படியும் அவளைப் பட்ட மகிஷியாக்குவேன்!
கட்டழகியை கட்டுப் படுத்துவது எங்கனம்?”என,

நன்மதி கொண்ட மஹஷனின் அமைச்சர்
நன்மையே விரும்பினர் தம் மன்னனுக்கு.

நலன் தரும் நீதியை எடுத்துக் கூறினர்
பலன் தரும் அவன் நலனைக் காத்து என.

“கசப்பாக இருக்கும் நாங்கள் கூறுவது
இசைவாக இராது உமக்குக் கேட்பதற்கு!

இன் சொல் சொல்ல விரும்பி உமக்குப்
புன் செயல்கள் புரிய இயலாது எம்மால்!

உடல் நலம் தரும் மருந்து போலவே
உம் நலம் கோருவது கசக்கும் செவிக்கு.

நாவுக்கு நலனும், உடலுக்குக் கேடும் தரும்
நலன் தராத உணவு வகை போல அன்று!”

5#11a. The council of ministers

Mahishan listened to the words spoken by the minister who had just returned from Devi. Then he consulted the other ministers and his elders.

“The woman who has come alone wishes for the welfare of Deva. I have fallen in love with her after hearing about her! How else can I still love her after the way she has insulted me.

I shall wed her and conquer over her. I shall enjoy her and bring her under my control. If I win over her before that, all my dreams will be shattered. Please tell me how to go about this!”

Mahishan’s ministers were very loyal. They wished his welfare more than their good names and smooth relationship with him. They told Mahishan,

“You may find what we are about to say very unpleasant – just the medicines that do good to our body but taste bitter on the tongue.

But we can’t speak sweet words just to please you when we know that they will not do you any good. The food that is bitter helps the body while the food tastes good on the tongue may do harm for the body!”
