9a. பாலலீலைகள் (1)

விபரீத சகுனங்கள் விளைவித்தன அச்சத்தை!
வீரரை அனுப்பினான் விந்தையை அறிந்துவர.

சகல உலகங்களையும் சுற்றி வந்தனர் வீரர்கள்;
சகல செய்திகளையும் கூறினார் சிந்துராஜனுக்கு.

“திரிசந்தி க்ஷேத்திரத்தில் விந்தை நிகழ்ந்தது!
திரிநேத்திரன் பார்வதியோடு தங்கியுள்ளான்.

விரதம் அனுஷ்டித்தாளாம் பார்வதி தேவி;
வித்தியாசமான ஆண் மகவு கிடைத்ததாம்.

மூன்று கண்கள், மூவிரண்டு கரங்களுடன்!
முனிவர்கள் பணிகின்றனராம் கணேசனை!”

கலங்கியது மனம் கணேசன் என்றதுமே;
துலங்கியது உண்மை கணேசன் யாரெனெ.

‘வரங்கள் அளிக்கையில் பிரான் கூறினார்
வரும் அழிவு கணேசரால் மட்டுமே என!”

அசரீரி ஒன்று கேட்டது ஆகாயத்திலிருந்து.
“அழிக்கப் பிறந்துவிட்டான் உன்னை ஒருவன்!

திரிசந்தியில் வளரும் கணேச குமாரன்
திரிலோக அதிபதி உன்னை அழிப்பான்!”

துடித்தது மீசை; வெடித்தது வெஞ்சினம்;
“பொடிப் பயலைக் கொல்வேன் இப்போதே!”

“பச்சிளம் பாலகனிடம் அச்சமா அரசே?
இச்சகத்தில் உம்மை அழிக்க ஒருவனா?”

சிறு பிள்ளை செய்ய முடியுமா இதை?
ஒரு வார்த்தை கூறுங்கள் எங்களிடம்!

காலால் தாங்கள் இட்ட வேலைகளைத்
தலையால் செய்யக் காத்திருக்கின்றோம்!”

அமைச்சர், பிரதானிகளின் சொற்கேட்டு
அமைதி அடைந்தான் சிந்துராஜன் அன்று.

#39a. Baala leelaa (1)

The bad omen caused fear in the mind of Sindhu Raajan. He sent out his messengers to find out any rare event that had occurred in the world. The messengers traveled far and wide and reported back to Sindhu Raajan.

“A rare event has occurred in Trisandhi kshetram. Lord Siva is staying there with Parvathi Devi. Devi did penance and observed a vratham. Now she has an unusual son with three eyes and six arms. The rushis worship this child as Ganesha.”

Sindhu Raajan now realized who that Ganesha was.
While giving him the boons, Lord Siva had told him that only Ganesha will be capable of destroying Sindhu Raajan.

At the same time an asareeri spoke these words, “A boy has been born to destroy you. He grows in Trisandhi khetram as Ganesha!” Sindhu Raajan became uncontrollably angry and swore that he would kill the child then and there.

His ministers asked him, “Are you afraid of a new born child oh king? Can anyone in this world harm you in anyway? Can a new born baby do it? We are all here to obey your commands to the letter. No harm can ever befall you.”

Sindhu Raajan felt consoled on hearing these reassuring words.

5#3c. மஹிஷனின் சினம் (2)

“இந்திரனுக்கு உதவுபவன் விஷ்ணு;
இந்திரனிலும் தந்திரம் மிகுந்தவன்!

சூழ்ச்சிகளுக்குத் தலைவன், கபட குரு;
வீழ்ச்சியடையச் செய்தான் மாவலியை.

மாய உருவெடுத்து வஞ்சிபவன் விஷ்ணு;
மாயையில் வல்லவரான அசுரர்களையும்.

ஹிரண்யாக்ஷனைக் கொன்றான் வராஹமாகி
ஹிரண்யனைக் கொன்றான் ஒரு நரசிங்கமாகி !

அஞ்ச மாட்டேன் நான் தேவர்கள் சமூகத்துக்கு!
அஞ்ச மாட்டேன் நான் வஞ்சகக் கூட்டத்துக்கு!

கொல்ல முடியாது என்னை தேவர்களால்;
வெல்ல முடியாது என்னை மும்மூர்த்திகளால்.

வெல்வோம் தேவலோகத்தை முற்றுகை இட்டு
செல்வோம் அங்கு உல்லாச வாழ்வு வாழ்ந்திட!

சேர்ந்து விடும் அவிர் பாகங்கள் நம்மிடம்;
சோர்ந்து விடும் தேவர் குழாம் உணவின்றி!

வெல்ல முயாது என்னை ஆண் மகனால்;
வெல்ல முடியும் என்னைப் பெண்ணால்!

எந்தப் பெண் வருவாள் என்னுடன் போரிட?
எந்தப் பெண் வெல்வாள் என்னைப் போரில்?

எந்தப் பெண் துணிவாள் என்னைக் கொல்ல?
எதப் பெண் பிறந்து உள்ளாள் அது போன்று?

ஒன்று திரட்டுங்கள் நமது அசுர வீரரை!
ஒன்று திரட்டுங்கள் ஒருவர் விடாமல்!”

5#3c. Mahishan’s wrath (2)

Mahishan spoke with seething anger,” Indra is helped by Vishnu who is even more cunning and craftier than Indra. He plans and plots. He is a scheming guru for the Devas. He cheated Mahaa Bali of his kingdom.

Vishnu takes many forms to cheat or to destroy the others. The asuras are famous for their power of Maayaa but he surpasses even them and tricks them. Vishnu killed HinraNyaakshan as a Boar. He killed HiraNyan as a man-lion.

I am not afraid of the Deva! I shall not fear the group treacherous Deva. I can not be vanquished by the Deva or Indra or even by the Trinity. Let us lay a siege of the swarggam and capture it.

We will chase away all the Deva from there and live in luxury and unending pleasure. The havisu offered to the Deva will reach us in stead of them. They will grow weaker and weaker while we will grow stronger and stronger.

No male can win over me. Only a woman can win over me. But which woman will dare to fight me? Which woman can defeat me in a war? Which woman will dare to kill me?

Has any such girl been born till now? Gather together all the asura warriors. Do not spare a single asura from joining the army”

Mahishan gave orders to his minsters and generals.

43f. வியாழபகவான் உரை.

கொம்புகள் முறிந்த வெள்ளையானையும்
சம்புவை வழிபட்டது திருவெண்காட்டில்.

ஆகம முறைப்படி சிவனை வழிபடவே
வேகமாகக் கொம்புகள் வளராயின.

இந்திரன் சென்றான் விண்ணுலகுக்கு!
நொந்தான் தன் நகரின் அழிவு கண்டு!

மைந்தன் சிறைப் பட்டது கண்டு
மனம் உடைந்துபோனாள் அயிராணி.

கோரத் தவம் செய்யலுற்றனர் பொன்னிற
மேருவில் இந்திராதி தேவர்கள் குழாம்.

தவத்தை மெச்சிக் காட்சியும் தந்தார்
சிவபிரான் தேவர்கள் கண் முன்னே!

“சூரபத்மனை வேரோடு அழித்து
சுரர்களைக் காக்க வேண்டும் ஐயனே!”

“உமையை மணந்து நான் பெறும் மகன்
உமது துயர்களைத் துடைப்பான்!”

திருமணத்தை விரைவு படுத்த எண்ணிக்
கரும்பு வில் காமனைப் பரமனிடம் அனுப்ப,

நெற்றிக் கண்ணைச் சிவனார் திறக்கக்
குற்றமற்ற காமன் எரிந்து போனான்.

KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

2# 43 f. Devaguru’s speech.

The celestial elephant whose four tusks got shattered came down to the earth. It worshiped Siva in Thiru VeNkaadu as per the aagma vidhi. Its tusks grew back fast.

Indra went to swarga. He was shattered by the complete ruin of his city. Indrani was sad to see that her son had become a prisoner of the merciless asuras.

Indra and the other devas sat on Meru and did severe penance. Lord Siva was pleased and appeared in front of them.

“Lord you must destroy Soorapadman and save the devas!”
Lord replied.”I will marry Uma and beget a son. He will put an end to all you sufferings!”

The devas wanted to speed up the wedding of Siva and Uma and sent Manmathan on this task. But Siva opened his fiery eye and scorched Manmathan.

9b. பாலலீலைகள் (2)

“கணேசன் இருக்கும் வரையில் இல்லை
கணப் பொழுதும் நிம்மதி என் மனத்தில்!

ரகசியமாக அழியுங்கள் கணேசனை
அகத்தில் அமைதி நிலவும் மீண்டும்!”

கழுகாக மாறிப் பறந்தான் கிருத்திராசுரன்;
குழந்தை கணேசன் கிடந்தான் தொட்டிலில்.

பற்றிக் கொண்டது கணேசனைக் காலில்;
பறந்து சென்றது கழுகு உயர விண்ணில்!

அலறித் துடித்தனர் அருகில் இருந்தவர்;
கலங்கவே இல்லை குழந்தை கணேசன்!

வளைத்தான் கையால் கழுகின் கழுத்தை;
தளையை விட்டுவிட்டது; இறந்தது கழுகு

விழுந்தான் அன்னை மடியில் கணேசன்;
விழுந்தாள் மகிழ்ச்சி வெள்ளத்தில் தேவி.

வந்தனர் எலிகள் உருவில் இரு அசுரர்கள்
வலுச் சண்டையிட்டு கணேசனைத் தாக்கிட.

உருவெடுத்தான் ஒரு பூனையாக கணேசன்
இரு அசுரகளையும் குதறிவிட்டது பூனை!

பூனை வடிவெடுத்து வந்தான் ஒரு அசுரன்;
பூனையைக் கொன்றன நாயாகிய வேதங்கள்.

முனி குமாரனாக வந்த அந்த பலாசுரனை
இனிமையாக விளையாடியே அழித்தார்.

கொல்லச் சென்றவர் கொல்லப்பட்டனர்;
பொல்லாத கோபம் கொண்டான் சிந்து.

வல்லமை மிகுந்த அசுரர்களும் கூட
கொல்லப்பட்டனர் கணேச குமாரனால்!

#39b. Baala Leelaa (2)

“I can not have a moment of peace, as long as Ganesha is alive. Kill him secretly.” Sindhu Raajan commanded his asuraas.

Grudra asuran took the form a vulture and flew to Ganesha. The child was lying in a cradle. The vulture grabbed the child in its talons and flew up higher and higher in the air.

Everyone got frightened by this and started screaming and crying but not baby Ganesha. He wound his arm round the neck of the vulture and squeezed hard.

The vulture dropped him down and also dropped dead. Ganesha fell right back into his mother’s lap giving her a great mental relief and joy.

Two asuraas came as rats and started fighting among themselves and attacked Ganesha. He changed into a cat and tore them apart.

Another asura came changed into a cat. The four Vedas commanded by Ganesha, took the form of a dog and tore apart the cat.

Balaasuran came as a muni kumaaran. Ganesha played with him and killed him playfully.

The mighty asuraas who were sent to kill Ganesha got killed by him. This made Sindhu Raajan terribly angry.

5#3d. மஹிஷனின் சினம் (3)

“வெல்வதற்கு போதும் நான் ஒருவனே!
வெல்லத் தேவையில்லை வேறு உதவி.

தேவையில்லை ஆயுதங்கள் – எனக்குச்
சேவை செய்யும் இரு கூரிய கொம்புகள்.

சுற்றிச் சுழன்று போராடி வெல்வேன் நான்,
சற்றும் களைப்படையாமல் சுவர்க்கத்தை!

சுற்றித் திரிவோம் இந்திர லோகத்தில்;
வெற்றி முழக்கமிட்டுக் கூத்தாடுவோம்

கூடுவோம் அழகிய தேவ கன்னியருடன்;
குடிப்போம் தெய்வப் பசு தரும் பாலை!

ரசிப்போம் தேவ மங்கையரின் இசை கேட்டு;
ருசிப்போம் தேவ மங்கையரின் ஆடல் கண்டு!

ஊட்டுவர் தேவ மகளிர் அமுத பானத்தை;
ஊட்டம் தரும் நமக்கு அந்த அமுத பானம்.

அனுபவிப்போம் எல்லையற்ற போகத்தை!
அனுபவிப்போம் எல்லையில்லாத சுகத்தை!”

உற்சாகப் படுத்தினான் அசுரப் படைவீரரை;
வெற்றிவாகை சூடச் சென்றனர் சுவர்க்கம்.

வணங்கினான் குலகுரு சுக்கிரனைக் சென்று,
இணங்கச் செய்தான் உரிய பாதுகாப்புத் தர.

ஆலோசனை தேவைப்பட்டால் அதையும்
ஆவலுடன் உவந்து தனக்கு அளிக்கும்படி.

5#3d. Mahishan’s wrath (3)

Mahishan told the asuraas,” I can conquer the swarggam all by myself – without any assistance. I do not need any special weapons either. My sharp horns will be my weapons. I will swirl and circle to atack everyone there and win over them without getting exhausted.

After conquering the heaven we will celebrate our victory grandly. We will roam around In Indra lokam. We will dance and sing our victory. We will make love with the apsaras. We will drink the freshly squeezed milk of the divine cow.

We will enjoy the dance and music of the apsaras. We will make the apsaras feed us nectar and get our nourishment and strength from that. We will enjoy unlimited pleasures and joys in heaven.”

Mahishan motivated his army this manner. They all went to swarggam to conquer it. Before leaving Mahishan met his kulaguru and prostrated to him. He made a request to his guru to offer him and his army protection in the war and the advices as and when needed by them.

43g. முடிவுரை.

சிவனை வேண்டினார்கள் தேவர்கள்
அவனே துயர் தீர்க்க வேண்டும் என!

இமயத்துக்கு எழுந்து அருளிய சிவன்
உமையவளைத் திருமணம் புரிந்தார்.

திரு நுதற்கண்ணில் தீப் பொறிகளாக
முருகா உன்னைத் தோற்றுவித்தார்.

அளித்தது துணிவை உன் பிறப்பு
ஒளிந்து திரிகின்ற தேவர்களுக்கு!

ஐயனைக் காண வரும்போதுமட்டும்
மெய்வடிவுடன் வருகின்றனர் குமரா!

ஆற்றலிலும் செல்வத்திலும் உயர்ந்து
கூற்றுவன் போலக் கொடுமைசெய்யும்

சூரபத்மனின் ஓரண்டத்துச் செய்தி இது!
சூரபத்மன் ஆளுவதோ 1008 அண்டங்கள்.

பவ்வியமாகப் படிக்கின்றான் பிரமன்
பஞ்சாங்கம் அனுதினம் சூரனுக்கு.

தாரகனோடு போர் புரிந்து தோற்றார்.
பார் புகழும் பரந்தாமன் முன்னரே!

மேன்மைகள் அளித்த சிவபிரானோ எனில்
மேற்கொண்டு தண்டனை வழங்கமாட்டார் !

சூரபத்மனை வேருடன் அழித்துவிட்டு நீ
சுரர்களைக் காத்தருள வேண்டும் முருகா!

இழிநிலையில் உள்ள தேவர்களைத் தம்
தொழிலில் முன்போல் அமர்த்தவேண்டும்.

“வருந்த வேண்டாம் உம் துயரங்கள் தீரும்.”
திருவாய் மலர்ந்து அருளினான் குமரன்.

முருகன் திருவடி வணங்கிய தேவர்கள் – அத்
திருநாளை எதிர்நோக்கிக் காத்திருந்தனர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷிரமணி.
அசுரகாண்டம் முற்றியது!

KANDA PURANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

2 # 43 g. The conclusion.

The deva requested Siva to put an end to their sufferings.
Siva went to the Himalaya and married Uma. He created you Muruga! out of the fiery sparks emanating from his fiery eyes.

The devas were reassured by your birth. They used to roam around in disguise. They assume their real forms only when they visit Lord Siva.

Soorapadman is punishing the worlds like another Yama. Brahma reads the daily almanac for him. Vishnu had been defeated by Taarakan long ago.

Siva who had given all the powers to Soorapadman will not destroy him. It is now left to you to destroy soorapadman and restore the devas in the swarga, in their original position of glory.

“You sorrows will end soon!” Murugan reassured the devas. They paid their respect to Murugan and were eagerly waiting for the day of deliverance from their misery.

With this the Asura Kaandam comes to an end.

மாமரமாக மாறினான் வியோமாசுரன்;
மாங்கனிகள் குலுங்கின கிளைகளில்!

கனிகளைப் பறித்து விரும்பி உண்ட,
முனி குமரர்கள் உயிர் இழந்தனர்.

நுழைந்தார் கணேசர் மாமரப் பொந்தில்;
பிளந்தார் மரத்தை; உருவத்தைப் பெருக்கி.

இறந்தான் அசுரன் இரண்டு துண்டுகளாகி!
இறந்த குமாரர்கள் உயிர்பெற்று எழுந்தனர்.

சதமகிஷ பக்ஷிணி என்னும் ஓர் அரக்கி;
சாப்பிடுவது தினமும் நூறு எருமைகள்!

அழகிய வடிவெடுத்து வந்தாள் அவ்விடம்;
பழகினாள் நல்ல தேவ ஸ்திரீயைப் போல.

“சிறையில் வாடுகின்றான் என் கணவன்;
சிந்துராஜன் வருத்துகின்றான அவனை!”

நித்திரையில் தேவி இருக்கும் பொழுது,
தந்திரமாகப் பறந்தாள் கணேசனுடன்.

காதைப் பற்றி வலித்தான் கணேசன்;
கதை முடிந்தது அழகிய ராக்ஷசியின்.

ஆமையாக மாறி வந்த ஓர் அசுரனை
அழுத்தினார் முதுகில் கால்களால்.

பேச்சில்லாமல் இறந்து போனான்,
மூச்சு முட்டிய அந்த ஆமை அசுரன்!

குதிரையாக மாறி வந்தான் ஓர் அசுரன்;
குதிரை மேல் கணேசனை அமர்த்தியதும்

வாயு வேகத்தில் பறந்தவன் மாய்ந்து
வாயில் நுரைதள்ளி விழுந்தான் கீழே.

#39. Baala Leelaa (3)
Vyomaasuran transformed into lovely huge mango tree. Its branches were laden with ripe, fleshy fruits. The rushi kumaaraas ate the fruits and fell down quite dead.

Ganesha entered into a hole in the tree. He grew in his size and tore the tree into two. The asura fell down dead – cut into two parts. All the children who had died after eating the mango fruits were revived by Ganesha.

Satha mahisha bakshiNi was a raakshasi who used to eat one hundred buffaloes each day. She transformed herself into a Deva sthree and came to Devi and Ganesha. She said that her husband had been imprisoned by the cruel Sindhu Raajan and was suffering in his prison.

Devi trusted her. One day while Devi was asleep, the raakshasi took off carrying Ganesha in her arms. Ganesha was not afraid of her. He pulled her ears so hard that the raakshasi fell down quite dead.

Another asuran transformed himself in to a huge tortoise and came to kill Ganesha. The asuran got killed when Ganesha pressed hard with his feet on the back of the tortoise.

Another asuran came transformed into a horse. It looked very attractive. The womenfolk in the ashram made Ganesha sit on the horse. it took off like a streak of lightning and flew in the sky.

Ganesha forced him to fly on with the same speed and go round all the worlds in the universe. The asuran grew so tired that he fell down dead spitting foam from his mouth!

5#4a. மந்திராலோசனை

இந்திரன் அழைத்தான் எல்லா தேவர்களையும்
மந்திராலோசனைக் கூட்டம் நடத்துவதற்கு.

“மஹிஷாசூரன் ஆவான் ரம்பனின் மகன் – அவன்
மமதையோடு அனுப்பினான் தூதுவனை இங்கு.

இழிவாகப் பேசினான் வந்திருந்த தூதுவன்;
பழித்துப் பேசினன் என்னைப் பலவிதமாக!

‘யுத்தம் தவிக்கச் சரணடைவாய் உடனே – ஆ
யத்தம் செய் யுத்தம் விரும்பினால்!’ என்றான்.

பலஹீனப் பகைவனிடமும் தேவை எச்சரிக்கை!
பலவானான பகைவனைப் பற்றி சொல்வானேன்?

படை வலிமை அறிந்து செய்ய வேண்டும் போர்;
தடை செய்யலாம் போரைச் சமாதானம் மூலம்.

சமாதானம் பலன் தரும் சாது ஜனங்களிடம்;
சமாதானம் வீணாம் துணிந்த பகைவனிடம்!

அறிந்து வாருங்கள் எதிரியின் பலத்தை;
அறிந்த பின் செய்வேன் தகுந்த ஏற்பாடு.

புறப்படுவேன் யுத்த களத்துக்கு – அன்றேல்
பலப்படுத்துவேன் சுவர்க்கத்தின் காவலை.

சோம்பல் தரும் தீராத துக்கத்தை – நாம்
சோம்பலைத் தவிர்த்துச் செயல் புரிவோம்

உளவு பார்த்து வாருங்கள் மஹிஷனை
களவும் செய்ய இயலாது உளவு இன்றி”

சென்றனர் தூதர் படை பலம் அறிந்திட;
செப்பினர் தூதுவர் படை பலம் அறிந்து.

வியந்தான் இந்திரன் அதனைக் கேட்டு;
தயங்காமல் சென்றான் குலகுருவிடம்.

5#4a. Council of ministers

Indra invited all his ministers for a council meeting. He told them, “Mahishan, the son of Ramban, had sent a messenger with arrogance. The messenger spoke with disrespect and insulted me. He warned me to surrender to Mahishan or prepare for a war immediately.

No enemy is too weak as to be slighted or neglected – even if he is very weak. I need not elaborate on the danger involved if the enemy is also strong. Pact of peace will bear fruit only with soft people but a determined enemy will not stand by it.

We should know the strength of the enemy before we plan our next move. If we are stronger, we will get ready for the war. If the enemy is stronger we will fortify the protection to Swargga.

There is no time for idleness and sloth which always land us in troubles. Spies must be dispatched immediately to find out the strength of the enemy’s army. Without spying even stealing is impossible.”

Accordingly spies were sent and they came back with the required information. Indra was amazed to hear it and went promptly to meet his kulaguru Bruhaspati.

விரிஞ்சன்மால் தேவ ராலும் வெலற்கரும் விறலோன் ஆகிப்

பெருஞ்சுரர் பதமும் வேத ஒழுக்கமும் பிறவும் மாற்றி

அருஞ்சிறை அவர்க்குச்செய்த அவுணர்கோன் ஆவிகொள்வான்

1a. முருகவேள்விடு தூது.

திருச்செந்தூரில் தேவர்களுடன் கூடி
திருமுருகன் அமந்திருந்தான் அரியணை.

போர் தொடங்கும் முன் சூரபத்மனுக்கு
ஓர் தூதுவனை அனுப்ப விழைந்தான்.

“அவுணர்களை அழிக்க நாளை போவோம்!
அவர்களிடம் தூது இன்று விடுவோம்!”

“அறநெறியும் அதுவே ஆகும்!” என்று
அறிவுறுத்தினர் பிற தேவர்களும் கூடி.

“தூது செல்லத் தோதானவர் யார்?”
“தூது சென்றால் யாம் மீள்வது அரிது!

தொண்டு செய்வதற்கென்றே சென்றோம்
பண்டு முதல் இந்நாள் வரையிலும்.”

தேவர்கள் மறுத்துப் பின்னர் வீரவாகுத்
தேவரைப் பரிந்துரைத்தனர் ஒரு மனதாக.

“வீரவாகுவே! விரைந்து செல் மகேந்திரம்;
சூரனைக் கண்டு கூறுவாய் நன்னெறிகளை!

சிறைப்பட்ட தேவர்கள் விடுதலை ஆனால்
மறக்கப்பட்டுவிடும் செய்த குற்றங்கள்;

மறுத்துரைத்தால் விரைவில் அழிவு
மறக்காமல் வந்து பற்றும் என்பாய்!”

3 # 1a. Murugan’s messenger.

Murugan was seated on his throne surrounded by the Deva in Thiruch chendoor. He wished to send a messenger before starting the war. The devas agreed that it was the correct procedure.

“Who is the right person to go as the messenger?”

The Devas replied in unison,”We can’t enter his city as messengers and come back alive. Till now we had gone there only for doing menial jobs!”

Every one recommended the name of Veerabaahu for this task.

Murugan told Veerabaahu,” Go to Veera Mahendrapuri. Meet Soorapadman and advise him to release all the Devas immediately.

If he does this, we will forgive all his sins and he will live. If he refuses to comply with this, he will be ruined completely!”

9d. பாலலீலைகள் (4)

துந்துபி என்னும் கொடிய அசுரன்
துடித்தான் கணேசனை முடித்துவிட.

ஆலஹாலம் நிகர்த்த விஷத்தால்
அழகாகச் செய்தான் நாவல் பழம்.

முனி குமாரனைப் போல வந்தான்;
இனிக்கப் பேசிப் பழங்கள் தந்தான்.

சுவைத்து உண்டார் அதை கணேசன்;
சுவைக்கத் தந்தார் தன் மோதகங்கள்.

உண்ட அசுரன் சுருண்டு விழுந்தான்;
கொண்டது பலி, விஷம் அவனையே.

வழியில் அசுரன் ஒருவன் உருமாறி
விழுந்து கிடந்தான் மலைப் பாம்பாக.

விழுங்கிவிட்டான் கணேச குமாரனை!
அழத் தொடங்கினர் உடன் வந்தவர்கள்.

பிளந்தான் பாம்பை இரண்டு துண்டாக!
வெளிப் பட்டான் நொடியில் கணேசன்.

சோலைக்குச் சென்றனர் ரிஷி பத்தினிகள்;
பாலன் கணேசனையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு.

பக்ஷி உருவில் ஓர் அசுரன் வர – ரிஷி
பத்தினிகள் அஞ்சி ஓடினர் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு.

பாறை மீது மோதிக் கொன்றார் அந்தப்
பக்ஷியின் கால்களைப் பற்றிய கணேசன்.

விஸ்வகர்மா உருவில் வந்த அசுரன்,
விநாயகருக்கு அணிவித்தான் சிலம்பு.

சிலம்பு வடிவில் இருந்தனர் அசுரர்கள்;
சிலம்புகளை அசைத்தபடி ஆட்டினார்.

சிலம்பு அணிந்த கால்களை உதறிட,
சிலம்புகள் வெடித்து மாண்டனர் அசுரர்.

#39d. Baala Leelaa (4)

Dundubi was an asuran. He wished to kill Ganesha. He made Jamoon fruits with a deadly poison. He transformed into a rushi’s son and came to Ganesha. He offered the poisonous fruits to Ganesha.

After eating the fruits, Ganesha offered the disguised asuran his modakams. The asuran ate the modakam and fell down dead since his poison affected him and not Ganesha.

Another asuran got changed to a huge python. He swallowed Ganesha whole when he passed by with his friends. The friends started wailing and crying. Ganesha tore the snake into two parts and emerged unhurt.

Once the Rushi patnis went to a garden carrying Bala Ganesha with them. An asura came in the form of a giant bird.

The rushi patnis got frightened and ran back the ashram carrying Ganesha with them. But Ganesha grabbed the bird, dashed it against a huge rock and killed it.

Three asuraas came to Ganesha. One of them was transformed as Viswakarma and the other two as anklets made by him. The anklets were put around Ganesha’ s legs.

The asuraas wanted to kill Ganesha but he shook his legs and kicked so violently that the anklets flew off, dashed on the asuran disguised as Viswakarma. All the three asuraas got killed thus.

“துன்பம் வருவது போலத் தோன்றுகிறது.
துன்பம் தீர எனக்கு உதவ வேண்டும் நீரே!

மமதையோடு போருக்கு வரும் மஹிஷனைச்
சமரில் எதிர்கொள்வது எங்கனம் எனக் கூறும்.

உதவுகிறார் சுக்கிரர் அசுரரின் முயற்சியில்,
உதவ வேண்டும் நீர் தேவர் முயற்சிகளில்!”

சிந்தித்தார் பிருஹஸ்பதி சிறிது நேரம்;
இந்திரனுக்குக் கூறினார் ஆலோசனை.

“பொதுவானது வெற்றியும், தோல்வியும்;
போரிடும் படைகளுக்குத் தெய்வாம்சமாக!

தைரியத்தை இழந்து விடாதே ஒருபோதும் – அ
தைரியம் தரும் தோல்வி மேல் தோல்வியை.

‘அனைத்தும் ஆண்டவன் செயல்’ என்று கூறும்
முனிவரும் முயல்கின்றனர் இயன்றவரையில்.

அரிய முயற்சி செய்வது அரசனின் கடமை;
அறிய வேண்டியதில்லை முடிவினைப் பற்றி.

முயற்சி திருவினை ஆக்கும் அறிவாய்!
முயற்சி இன்றி வெற்றி ஏது கூறுவாய்!

முயற்சி இன்றி வளர்ச்சி ஏது கூறுவாய்!
முயற்சி இன்றி இன்பம் ஏது கூறுவாய்!

முயற்சி இன்றிக் கிடைக்காது எதுவும்
முயற்சி இறைவனின் பரிசு எனலாம்.

முயற்சி மாற்றி விடும் வாழ்க்கையை.
முயலாமை மறைத்து விடும் திறமையை

பலவீனன் துக்கப்படாமல் சுகப்படலாம்!
பலவான் சுகப்படாமல் துக்கப்படலாம்!

கற்றவன் உணவின்றிப் பசித்திருக்கலாம்!
மற்றவன் திருப்தியாகப் புசித்திருக்கலாம்!”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
