# 37b. Laabhan

Laabhan dispersed the army of his enemy. He destroyed the army of his enemy. The asura soldiers took to their heels. Kamalaasuran gathered the remaining soldiers and fought with Laabhan.

The ashtrams shot by the asuran and his army did not any effect on Laabhan. “Mohana ashtram never fails.” Now Kamalaasuran shot the Mohana asthram.

It made the entire army of Laabhan become unconscious! Only Laabhan resisted the effect of the asthram. He was all alone now.

The asuran fought with Laabhan for six long days. Finally when the going got tough, he disappeared from the battle field.

Laabhan returned to the Sundara ashram and found his father still unconscious. He got upset that a person would remain unconscious for six long days. He lighted a big fire and was about to jump into it. Mallalar woke up and stopped him from jumping into the fire.

Kamalaasuran gathered all the soldiers left alive and attacked again “Enough of this child’s play. It is time to put an end to the asuran”

Mallaalar himself went to the battle field now. Kamalasuran hid himself with his Maya and rained a stream of arrows.

Mallalar sent his paasam and it bound and dragged Kamalaasuran to Mallaalar.

5#1b. அஹங்காரம்

“ஒரு பெண்ணே போதும் விலங்கிட்டது போல்
ஒரு மனிதனைத் தளைப்படுத்தி அடக்குவதற்கு!

பதினாயிரத்து ஐம்பது பெண்களுக்குக் கண்ணன்
அதிகப் பிரியனாக இருந்தது எப்படி எனக் கூறும்!”

கேட்டவன் மன்னன் ஜனமேஜயன் – அவனுக்குத்
தேட்டமும், தெளிவும் தந்தவர் வியாச முனிவர்.

“அஹங்காரமே காரியங்களின் காரணம் – நாம்
அஹங்காரத்தால் புரிகின்றோம் தீச் செயல்கள்.

அஹங்காரம் பந்தப்படுத்துகின்றது மனிதனை;
அகங்காரம் அழிவதே முக்திக்கு வழி ஆகும்.

காக்கும் தொழில் செய்பவன் விஷ்ணு – அவன்
காக்கின்றான் கர்த்ருத்வ அஹங்காரம் கொண்டு.

அஹங்காரத்துடன் செய்யும் செயல்கள் அவனை
அநேகம் பிறவிகளை எடுக்கச் செய்கின்றன!

அகங்காரத்தின் வித்து ஆகும் அஞ்ஞானம்.
அஹங்காரத்தின் விளைபொருள் சம்சாரம்!

இல்லை அஹங்காரம் என்ற நிலை வந்ததும்
இல்லை மோஹம், இல்லை சம்சார பந்தம்.

தன்னிச்சையாக அவதரிக்கின்றானா விஷ்ணு?
தன்னிச்சையாக எடுப்பானா இழி பிறவிகள்?

மூடனும் விரும்ப மாட்டான் கர்ப்ப வாசம்;
மூத்திர மலங்கள் நிறைந்துள்ள ஓர் உடலை!

பிறவி என்றாலே துன்பம் என்னும் போது
பிறவியை விழைவானா அறிவுள்ளவன்?

தானம், தவம், வேள்வி செய்வதெல்லாம்
மானிடப் பிறவியை ஒழிப்பதற்கு அல்லவா?

‘பிறவா வரம் வேண்டும்’ என்பது அல்லவா
மறவாமல் அனைவரும் கோரும் ஒரே வரம்?

சுதந்திரம் உள்ளவர் எவரேனும் உலகில்
இந்த விதமாக வந்து பிறப்பார்களா கூறு!

பிரமன், தேவன், மனிதன் அனைவருமே
பிறையணி தேவியின் வசப்பட்டவர்கள்!”

5#1b. Ahankaaram

King Janamejayan had put this question now, “One woman is enough to bind a man in Samsaara. How did Krishna manage the ten thousand and fifty women? How did he please everyone and keep them happy?”

Sage Vyaasaa continued explaining to him,” Ahankaaram makes us perform various actions. We do everything good and bad due to our Ahankaaram.

It is the Ahankaaram that binds a man to samsaaraa. If the Ahankaaram is destroyed, then there will be total liberation.

Vishnu is the protector of the creation. He protects with karthruthva ahankaaram as the doer of that action. That binds him and as a result he has to take many more births.

Ignorance is the seed of Ahankaaram. Samsaaram is the crop grown in Ahankaaram. When the Ahankaaram gets completely destroyed then there will be no more confusion, nor delusion, nor bondage, nor samsaara.

Do you think Vishnu took those avatars by his choice? No one in his right senses will wish to be born as lowly creatures.

Not even a fool will prefer to grow in the womb and be born.The body is filled with urine and feces. Birth itself is painful. All that follows the birth is also painful.

We perform various good karma to get out of the bondage. The only prayer any wise person seeks is to get out of the samsaara chakra of birth and death. No one has any freedom here not Brahma, nor Deva, nor Manushya nor Asura.”

42f. சிறை நீக்கல்.

பலருக்கும் பலவித தண்டனைகள்
கலங்காமல் விதித்தான் சூரபத்மன்.

எல்லோருக்கும் விடை தந்துவிட்டு
செல்லலானான் தன் மாளிகைக்கு.

துணிவினைத் திரட்டிக்கொண்ட பிரமன்
பணிவுடன் பகர்ந்தான் சூரபத்மனிடம்.

“கதிரவன், திங்கள் முதலியவை இன்றி
கதிகலங்கிவிடும் உலகு இதை மறவாதே!

காலக் கடவுளர் நடப்பார் உன் சொற்படி.
உலகம் நடைபெற உடனே விடுதலை செய்”

நான்முகன் சொற்களில் உள்ள உண்மையை
நன்கு புரிந்து கொண்டான் சூரபத்மன்.

சிறைவிடுபட்ட தேவதைகளிடம் கூறினான்;
“மறந்துவிடாதீர்கள் என் சொற்படி நடக்க!

இந்திரனுடன் சேரக் கூடாது நீங்கள்
எந்தக் காரணத்துக்கும், எப்போதும்!

உங்கள் தொழிலைச் செய்து வாருங்கள்.
உங்கள் தலைவன் நான்! மறவாதீர்கள்.”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 # 42f. Releasing from the prison.

Soorapadman had inflicted punishment on everyone around him without any hesitation. He then left the durbar and was about to go to his palace.

Brahma gathered all his courage and spoke to him,

“The world will not be able to function without the help of the sun, the moon and the angels of Time. They will remain faithful and obedient to you. Release them from the prison immediately”

Soorapadman understood the truth in Brahma’s words. He released the sun, the moon and all the angels of Time and told them sternly,

“Remember to obey me. Never associate with Indra for any reason. Mind your business and remember I am your king now!”.

 7g. மயூரேசர்

“வேதத்தைப் பரப்பும் அந்தணன் நீ தானா?
தேவர்களுக்கு யாகம் செய்பவன் நீ தானா?”

தண்டாயுதத்தால் ஓங்கி அடித்தான்
மண்டிய கர்வம் கொண்ட கமலாசுரன்.

தண்டாயுதத்தால் தண்டத்தைத் தடுத்துத்
துண்டாக்கினர் ஐயன் அசுரன் மார்பினை.

இரண்டாகிய அசுரன் உடலில் இருந்து
இரத்தத் துளிகள் விழுந்தன பூமியில்!

ஒவ்வொன்றிலிருந்தும் தோன்றினான்
ஒவ்வொரு அசுரன் கையில் கதையுடன்!

ஒரு அசுரனை அழிக்க முடியவில்லை;
ஓராயிரம் அசுரர்களை அழிப்பது எப்படி?

மயில் மீது அமர்ந்து அசுரர்களை ஐயன்
மாய்த்தபோது சிந்தியது ரத்தத் துளிகள்.

சிந்திய துளிகளில் தோன்றிய வீரர்கள்
வந்து கலந்து கொண்டனர் யுத்தத்தில்.

லாபன் துதித்தான் இரு அன்னையரை;
லாபன் விழைந்தான் நல்ல உபாயம்!

ஒன்பது கோடி பூதங்கள் வந்தன!
ஒருதுளி விழாமல் உதிரம் பருகின!

சூலம் பிளந்தது அசுரனை மூன்றாக;
சேர்ந்தது ஜீவன் இறைவன் திருவடி.

விண்ணில் முழங்கியது தேவ துந்துபி;
கின்னரர்கள் கூடி இசைத்தனர் கீதங்கள்;

தேவர்கள் துதித்து வணங்கினர்;
வேதங்கள் காத்த விநாயகனை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#37g. Mayooresar

“Are you the Brahmin who is spreading the Vedas? Are the one who performs the yaagaas?’ Kamalaasuran hit Mallalar with his daNdam.

Mallalar stopped with his daNdam the asurn’s daNdam and tore his chest into two parts. Drops of blood fell on the earth.

Form each of those blood drops an asuran emerged – armed with his gadhayudham.

The battlefield was filled with the asuras thus created. As Mayooresar killed these asuras more blood spilled and more asuras were created.

Laabahan prayed to his two mothers Buddhi Devi and Siddhi Devi for help. They created ninety million demons and sent them to the battlefield.

The demons drank up the blood before they fell on the earth. Mallalar’s soolam cut Kamalaasuran into three parts. His jeevan merged with Mallalar.

Deva played dundubi and Kinnaras sang their celestial songs. The whole world was happy and thankful to the lord who had saved the Vedas.

5#2a. மஹிஷாசுரன்

வியாசர் உரைத்த மொழிகளைக் கேட்டு,
வியந்தான் மன்னன் தேவியின் சிறப்பை!

ஆர்வம் கொண்டான் மேன்மேலும் கேட்க,
பார்வதி தேவியின் பெருமைகளை எல்லாம்!

“தேவியின் பெருமையை அறிவது அவசியம்
தேவியின் சிருஷ்டியை புரிந்து கொள்வதற்கு!”

” இருந்தான் மஹிஷன் எனும் கொடிய அசுரன்
பொருதனர் இருபுறமும் தேவர்கள், தானவர்கள்.

சென்றான் மஹிஷன் மேரு மலைக்கு – அங்கு
செய்தான் கடும் தவம் பிரம்ம தேவனைக் குறித்து.

பதினாயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் உருண்டோடின பின்பு
விதி மகிழ்ந்து காக்ஷி தந்தான் மஹிஷனுக்கு!

“வரம் என்ன வேண்டுமோ கேள்!” என்று கூற,
“மரணமே இல்லாத வரம் தாரும்!” என்றான்.

சிரித்தான் பிரம்மதேவன் இதைக் கேட்டு;
விரித்தான் கால தத்துவத்தை மஹிஷனுக்கு!

“கட்டுண்டு இயங்குகிறது அண்ட சராசரம்
கால தத்துவத்துக்கு என்று அறிந்து கொள்!

காலம் செயல்படும் தோற்றம், மறைவு என;
காலம் இல்லை என் வசத்தில் – ஏனெனில்

காலத்துக்கு வசப்பட்ட ஒருவனே நானும்!
காலத்துக்கு வசப்படாதவள் தேவி ஒருத்தியே!

மரணமே இல்லாத வரத்தைத் தவிர்த்து – வேறு
வரம் எதுவானாலும் கேள் தருவேன் உனக்கு!”

5#2a. Mahishaasuran

King Janamejayan was fascinated by the greatness of Devi. He wished to hear more and more about her from sage Vyaasaa. He said, ” I wish to know more about Devi’s greatness. It will help me to appreciate her creation of the universe better”

Sage Vyaasaa continued, “Once there lived a fearsome asuran named Mahishan. A long war was fought between the Deva and the Asura.

Mahishan decided to get a boon by which he would become immmoral. He went to the Mount Meru and sat there in severe penance directed to Brahma.

Ten thousand years rolled by. Brahma was pleased with his penance and appeared to Mahishan in person to grant the boons he wished for. Mahishan said,”I want to become immortal. Please grant me that boon sire!”

Brahma laughed on hearing this. “No one and nothing can be immortal. Everything and everyone is under the influence of Time Factor except the Supreme Devi.

If there is a thing called the birth, there will be a thing called the death. I myself am bound by the Time Factor. So ask for any other boon except immortlity and I will be happy to grant you that boon.”

42e. தண்டித்தல்.

“இங்கு அழைத்து வாருங்கள் எங்கும்
தங்கு தடையின்றித் திரியும் வாயுக்களை!”

வந்து சேர்ந்தனர் மருத்துக்கள் அனைவரும்.
வாய் பேசாது மெளனமாக நின்றனர்.

“நீங்கள் இல்லாத இடமே இல்லை – என்
தங்கையை ஏன் காப்பாற்றவில்லை?”

யாதும் பதில் கூறவில்லை வாயுக்கள்
யாவரையும் சிறையில் இட்டான் சூரன்.

ஆண்டு, திங்கள் முதலிய தேவதைகளைக்
கண்டதும் சிறையில் இடச் செய்தான்.

மண்ணக வேந்தர்கள் வந்து குவிந்தனர்.
“மண்ணுலகில் மறைந்துள்ளான் இந்திரன்;

என் தங்கை கையை வெட்டும்போது
என்ன செய்துகொண்டு இருந்தீர்கள்?

கள்ளுண்டு மயங்கி உறங்கினீரா?
காமத்தில் மயங்கித் தயங்கினீரா?”

“அன்னையை ஒத்த அஜமுகி இங்கே
மண்ணுலகுக்கு வந்ததை அறிந்திலோம்!

இந்திரன் இங்கே ஒளிந்து திரிவதை
இக்கணம் வரையில் யாம் அறிகிலோம்.”

மன்னர்கள் கூறியதை நம்பாமல்
தண்டிக்கத் தொடங்கினான் சூரபத்மன்,

சில மன்னர்கள் நாவு அறுபட்டனர்!
சிலர் மூக்குச் செவிகளை இழந்தனர்;

சில மன்னர்கள் தலை அறுபட்டனர்.
சில மன்னர்கள் கைகள் அறுபட்டனர்.

சில மன்னர்கள் தாள்கள் அறுபட்டனர்,
சில மன்னர்கள் தோள்கள் அறுபட்டனர்.

2 # 42 e. The punishments.

“Bring the winds which flow freely everywhere” Soorapadman commanded his soldiers. All the forms of wind (maruththukkal) were brought there and they stood silently.

“You have access to everyplace. Why didn’t you help my sister when her hand was cut off?”

The maruththukkal remained silent. Soorapadman threw them into the prison.

Next was the turn of the angels of Time like the year, month etc. They too were thrown into the prison.

All the kings of earth were called to assemble. Soorapadman spoke to them,”Indra is hiding on the earth. When he had my sister’s hand cut off, what were you doing- sleeping intoxicated or enjoying the intimacy of women?”

The kings replied,”We were not aware of mother Ajamukhi’s visit to the earth, nor are we aware of Indra hiding here”.

Soorapadman did not believe them. He punished them severely. Some kings had their tongues cut off. Some others had their nose and ears cut off.

Some kings list their heads and some others their hands. Some kings lost their shoulders and some others their feet.

 8a. சூரியகுமாரன்

கண்டம் நகரத்தை, மைதல தேசத்தில்,
ஆண்டு வந்தான் மன்னன் சக்கரபாணி.

பிறக்கவில்லை பெயர் சொல்ல ஒரு பிள்ளை
பிறந்தன யாகப்பயனாக; ஆனால் தக்கவில்லை.

‘தீவினைப் பயன் துரத்துகிறது!’ என்று
தீர்மானித்தான் கானகத்தில் தவம் புரிய.

சௌனக முனிவர் வந்தார் அரசனிடம்;
சூரிய விரத முறைகளைக் கற்பித்தார்

“வருந்தாதே பிறப்பான் சத்புத்திரன்
அருள் புரிவான் சூரியன் உனக்கு!”

சூரிய விரத்தை அனுஷ்டித்தான் அரசன்;
சூரியன் அறிந்தான் அரசன் மலடன் என.

இருபத்தோராம் நாள் சூரியன் அரசியைக்
கருவுறச் செய்தான், கனவில் வந்து கூடி!

அரசன் உருவில் சூரியன் வந்ததால்
அரசனே கூடியதாக நினைத்தாள் அரசி.

அரசன் அரசியிடம் செல்லாததால்,
அரசன் அறிந்தான் சூரியன் அருளை.

பிறந்தது குழந்தை பத்து மாதங்களில்
சிவந்த சடை, அரிய மூன்று கண்கள்;

இருகரங்களில் பற்றிய சூலங்களுடன்!
மூர்ச்சையடைந்தாள் அஞ்சிய அரசி!

அந்தணர் வடிவில் வந்தான் வருணன்;
ஆசிகள் தந்தான் சிந்து எனப் பெயரிட்டு.

விளையும் பயிர் முளையிலேயே தெரியும்!
வளர்ந்தான் சிந்துராஜன் பராக்கிரமத்துடன்.

திரிந்தான் மனம் போனபடி திசைகளில்;
எறிந்தான் மலைகளைப் பெயர்த்தெடுத்து.

கலக்கினான் சமுத்திரங்களை விளையாடி.
விலக்கினான் நிலவைப் பாதையிலிருந்து.

‘ஆண்மையும், வீரமும் கொண்ட இவனே
ஆளவேண்டும் நமது அசுரர் குலத்தினை!’

தேடி வந்தார் சுக்கிராச்சாரியார் அவனை;
நாடச் சொன்னார் சிவபெருமான் அருளை.

#38a. Soorya Kumaaran

King ChakrapaaNi ruled over the Kandam city in Maithala desam. He had no children. He got children after performing Yaagaa but they did not survive.

He felt very sad at heart. He thought it was the effect of his evil deeds in the previous births. He decided to go to a forest and do severe penance.

Sounaka rushi came to meet him. He took pity on the King’s plight and taught him the vratham to please the Sun God.

Rushi told ChakrapaaNi, ” Do not worry oh king! Surely Soorya Bhagavaan will bless you with a good son soon.”

The king performed the Soorya vratham in the prescribed manner. Sooryan knew that the king was impotent.

So on the twenty first day of the vratham, he came in the queen’s dream as king ChakrapaaNi. He made love to her in her dream and she got pregnant.

The queen was under the impression that the King had united with her, but the king knew the truth that the child was the gift of Sooya bhagavaan.

After ten months, a son was born to the queen. It had red matted hair, three eyes and held soolams in both its hands.

The queen got frightened by this sight and fainted right away. VaruNan came there disguised as a Brahmin. He named the child as Sindhu Raajan and blessed him.

Sindhu Raajan was valorous and daring. He roamed the world in all the directions. He plucked the mountains and tossed them around. He churned the sea water just for fun. He deviated the moon from its assigned path.

Sukraachaayra was very pleased with this young man – so brave, daring and valorous. He decided that Sindhu Raajan must become the king of asuras.

Asura guru approached Sindhe Raajan and advised him to seek the grace of lord Siva by doing severe penance.

5#2b. வரம் தந்தான்

மரணம் இல்லாத வாழ்வு பெற்றிட மஹிஷன்
வரம் கேட்டான் மீண்டும் வேறு விதமாக!

“நிகழக் கூடாது என் மரணம் ஓர் ஆணால்!
நிகழாது என் மரணம் பேதைப் பெண்களால்!”

“ஆணால் இல்லை உனக்குப் பிராண ஆபத்து
ஆனால் அழிக்க முடியும் ஒரு பெண்ணால்!”

இந்த வரம் பெற்று மகிழ்ந்தான் மஹிஷன்
‘எந்தப் பெண் எதிர்க்கத் துணிவாள் என்னை?’

இருந்தான் தனு என்பவன் பூமியில் முன்பு
இருந்தனர் இரு மகன்கள் ரம்பன், கரம்பன்.

தவம் செய்தனர் இரு சகோதரர்களும் – அந்தத்
தவத்தின் நோக்கம் நன் மக்களைப் பெறுவது.

பஞ்சநதம் நதி நீரில் கரம்பனின் தவம்
பஞ்சாக்கினி நடுவில் ரம்பனின் தவம்

இந்திரன் அஞ்சுவான் தபஸ்விகளைக் கண்டு
இந்திரன் முயல்வான் தவத்தைக் கலைத்திட.

முதலையாக மாறிச் சென்றான் நதி நீரில்
மூழ்கடித்தான் தவம் செய்த கரம்பனை.

வருந்தினான் மனம் அண்ணன் ரம்பன்;
அரிந்து இடப்போனான் சிரத்தைத் தீயில்.

பிடித்தான் இடக் கரத்தால் தன் சிரத்தை!
பிடித்தான் தன் வலக் கரத்தால் வாளை!

தடுத்தான் தற்கொலையை அக்கினிதேவன்
“கொடுப்பேன் வரம்! வேண்டாம் கொலை!”

5#2b. The Boon

Mahishan asked for the same boon wishing for immortality, but now he put it differently. “I should not get killed by any male. I am sure no female will ever dare to face me in a war.”

Brahma granted him that boon and said, “You will not get killed by any male but a female can kill you!”

Mahishan thought that this boon was good enough for him. If no man could kill him, no woman could kill him either.

Once up on a time a man named Tanu lived on the earth. He had two sons named Ramban and Karamban. They wished to beget good sons and went to do severe penance for that purpose.

Karamban did penance by standing in the water of the river Panchanatham. Ramban did penance by standing amidst Panchaagni. The four agni kuntams were on his four sides and the Sun shone on him from the sky – making it a difficult penance in between Pancha agni.

Indra got worried about their penance. He would always have this fear that his place in the heaven would be usurped by the tapasvi. He would try to ruin the penance by any means – fair or foul.

Indra came transformed into a crocodile and drowned Karamaban in the river water. Ramban became heart broken and wanted to end his life by cutting off his own head and offering it to the Agni Devan.

He held his head with his left hand and his sword with his right hand. Just as he was about to severe his own head, Agni Devan emerged from the fire and stopped him.

“I shall grant you any boon you seek. Please stop your effort to commit suicide” Agni Devan told Ramban with sympathy.

43a. பானுகோபன்

சூரபத்மனிடம் விடை பெற்றுக் கொண்டபின்
வீரன் பானுகோபன் சென்றான் மாளிகைக்கு.

ஆயுத்தங்கள் செய்தான் போருக்குச் செல்ல.
ஆயுதங்கள் அனைத்தும் தயார் நிலையில்.

சூடினான் அழகிய தும்பைப்பூ மாலைகள்.
ஏறினான் பாய் மாக்கள் பூட்டிய தன் தேரில்.

நால்வகைப் படைகளும் உடன் நடந்தன.
கால் பட்டுப் புழுதி மறைத்தது நகரையே.

வளர்ந்தன அவுணர்களின் தோள்கள்.
தளர்ந்தன தேவர்களின் மனங்கள்.

சீகாழியைச் சென்றடைந்தது படை .
பூம்பொழிலைக் காட்டினாள் துன்முகி.

“இதுதான் எங்கள் கைவெட்டுண்ட இடம்.
இதில் இருந்தனர் அயிராணியும்,தேவனும்.

நுழைந்தான் சோலையில் பானுகோபன்.
நுழைந்தது சோலையில் நால்வகைப் படை.

சோலையில் காணவில்லை எவரையுமே!
சோலை மிதிபட்டுப் பாலை போலானது.

நிலவுலகு எங்கும் தேடினர் பின்னர்
நிலவு திரியும் விண்ணுலகு ஏகினர்.

படையுடன் பானுகோபனைக் கண்டு
உடன் சென்று உரைத்தனர் செய்தியை.

KANDAPURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

2 # 43 a. Bhaanukopan leaves on his mission.

Bhanaukoban took leave of Soorapadman and went to his palace. He made the preperations to leave on his mission. He got his weapons ready. He wore the garlands of Thumabi flower and climbed on his chariot fitted with the fastest steeds.

The chaturanga sena marched along with him. The dust storm raised by the marching army hid the capital city.
The asuras were growing stronger by the minute and the devas grew weaker by the moment.

The army reached Seekaazhi. Durmukhi showed the garden where Indraani and the devan were last seen.

They entered the garden and reduced it to a wasteland but could not find Indra or his wife or the devan. They searched all over the earth and then went to the heaven.

The spies rushed to Jayanthan and informed him of the marching army of Bhaanukoban. All the devas were worried about the outcome of the war with the marching army.

 8b. சிந்து ராஜன்

“சிவனை தியானித்துத் தவம் செய்து
அவனிடம் வரங்களை வாங்கிவிடு.

வெல்ல முடியாது உன்னை எவராலும்
மெல்ல அசுரர் கை ஓங்கிவிடும்!’ எனத்

தவம் செய்யச் சென்றான் சிந்து ராஜன்
தவம் நீடித்தது ஈராயிரம் ஆண்டுகள்.

காட்சி தந்து வரம் தந்தான் சிவன்,
“ஆட்சி செய்வாய் மூவுலகங்களை!

அழிவின்றி வாழ்வாய் நெடுங்காலம்
அடி பணிவர் உன்னிடம் தேவர்கள்!”

வரம் தந்தது வெற்றி மேல் வெற்றி!
வந்தது பூலோகம் அவன் குடைக் கீழ்!

தேவலோகம் சென்றான் சிந்து ராஜன்;
தேவேந்திரன் எதிர்பட்டான் யானை மீது!

வஜ்ஜிராயுத்தைத் தடுத்து யானையை,
வஜ்ஜிர முஷ்டியால் தாக்கினான் சிந்து!

பொறி கலங்கி நின்றது வெள்ளை யானை;
மறைந்துபோனான் மாயையால் இந்திரன்.

வீரர்களை நியமித்தான் சுவர்கத்தில் – தன்
வீடு திரும்பினான் சிந்து பூலோகத்தில்.

விஷ்ணுவிடம் இந்திரன் சரண் புகவே
விஷ்ணு புறப்பட்டார் தன் சக்கரத்துடன்.

தேவர்கள் தாக்கி அழித்து விட்டனர் தம்
தேவருலகில் இருந்த சிந்துவின் வீரரை

செய்தியை அறிந்து சினந்த சிந்துராஜன்
செய்தான் தன் அடுத்த படையெடுப்பை.

விஷ்ணுவின் தலைமையில் தேவர்கள்!
உஷ்ணமான போர் தொடங்கியது உடனே.

38b. Sindu Raajan

Guru Sukraachaarya told Sindu Raajan, “Do penance to Lord Siva and get his blessings and boons. You will become invincible. The Deva will obey you. Asura will achieve supremacy as before.”

Sindhu Raajan went to do penance. He concentrated on Lord Siva and did severe penance for two thousand years. Siva appeared to him and gave him many boons.

He blessed Sindhu raajan saying, “You will rule over the three worlds. You will live for a very long time. The Deva will obey you. No one can defeat you”

These boons gave victory over victory. Sindu conquered the whole earth. Next he went to swarggam. Indra opposed him seated on his Airaavat.

Sindhu Raajan escaped being hit by Indra’s vajraayudam and hit the Airaavat hard on its head. The elephant stood dazed and Indra disappeared from there by his Maya.

Sindhu Rajan nominated a care taker ruler and his soldier stayed back in swarggam. He returned to the earth and to his capital city.

Indra sought the help of Vishnu in overthrowing Sindhu Raajan from swarggam. Under Vishnu’s guidance the Deva killed the soldiers of Sindu Raajan.

When he learned of this, Sindhu became furious and invaded swarggam with his army. A terrible war ensued.

5#2c. பெண் எருமை

ரம்பன் கேட்டான் தான் விரும்பியதை
ரம்பன் பெற்றான் தான் விரும்பியதை

“தருவீர் நான் விரும்பி வந்த வரத்தினை.
பெருமை மிகுந்த மகன் வேண்டும் எனக்கு.

வெல்ல வேண்டும் மூன்று உலகையும்;
வெல்லப் படக் கூடாது வேறு எவராலும்!

வேண்டும் காமரூபம் எடுக்கும் திறமை!
வேண்டும் வணங்கப்படும் பெருமை!”

தந்தான் அக்னி தேவன் இந்த வரத்தை;
சென்றான் மகிழ்வுடன் ரம்பன் இல்லம்.

அதி மனோரம்மிய வனத்தில் கண்டான்
அதிக இளமையான பெண் எருமையை.

நெருங்கினான் எருமையை காம வசப்பட்டு;
நெருங்கியது பெண் எருமை விதி வசப்பட்டு.

புரிந்தனர் காம லீலைகள் கூடிக் கலந்து;
தரித்தது கரு பெண் எருமை கலவியால்.

இணை பிரியாது காத்தான் எருமையை;
இணைய விடவில்லை பிற எருமைகளை.

கண்டது வேறு ஒரு கிடா இந்த எருமையை;
கொண்டது மோஹம் கண்டவுடன் இதனை.

துரத்தியது பெண் எருமையை அந்தக் கிடா;
துரத்தினான் ரம்பன் காமவயப்பட்ட கிடாவை.

தாக்கியது கொம்புகளால் ரம்பன் மார்பில்!
தாக்குதலில் மடிந்து விட்டான் ரம்பன்.

5#2c. The female buffalo

Ramban told Agni Devan,”I came here seeking the boon for a valorous son. He must conquer all the three worlds but no one should be able to conquer him.

He must have the power of Kaama roopam and assume any form he desires. Evey one must hail and worship him!” Agni Devan grated this boon and vanished.

Ramban went back happy that he had succeeded in his mission. On the way he passed through a beautiful garden.

He saw a young and attractive female buffalo there. He fell in love with it instantly. The buffalo also was attracted by him due to its destiny.

They enjoyed the pleasures of lust and the buffalo became pregnant with Ramban’s child. Ramban took good care of it and made sure that she was not bothered by any other male buffalo.

One day a strong male buffalo saw this pregnant female and started chasing her. Ramban chased the male in heat but he got gored and killed by it in the ensuing fight.

43b. “போர் புரிவேன்!”

செய்தி கேட்டுத் துன்புற்றான் ஜயந்தன்,
“தாய் தந்தையர் இருக்குமிடம் அறியேன்!

நலம் கூறி அறிவுறுத்த நம்முடைய
குலகுரு வியாழபகவானும் இல்லை.

நம்மைத் துன்புறுத்தவே வந்துள்ளான்
நால்வகைப் படைகளுடன் இவன்.

புகலிடம் எதுவும் இல்லை நமக்கு,
புகலிடம் தேடும் எண்ணம் இல்லை.

வருந்தி வாடப் போவதும் இல்லை!
வருவதை யாரால் தடுக்க முடியும்?

புறமுதுகு இடப்போவதும் இல்லை.
திறலழிந்து சரண் புகுவதும் இல்லை.

வெற்றி அல்லது வீரசுவர்க்கம் எனது.
அசுரர்களுடன் நான் போர் புரிவேன்

அஞ்சுபவர்கள் விட்டுச் செல்லலாம்!
கொஞ்சமும் கவலை இல்லை எனக்கு!”

“அவர்களுக்குத் தொண்டு புரிவதிலும்,
அவர்களுடன் பொருதலே மேலானது!

விரைந்து செல்வோம் போர்க்களம்!”
ஐராவதத்தை எண்ணினான் ஜெயந்தன்

நினைத்த மாத்திரத்தில் நின்றது எதிரே.
அனைத்து தேவர்கள் உடன் சென்றனர்.

பானுகோபன் படைக்கு முன் சென்று
சேனையுடன் நின்றது தேவர் குழாம்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
