DEVI BHAAGAVATAM - SKANDA 4

 4#22a. Sri Krishna jananam

Sage Vyaasaa continued ,”Listen to me Janamejaya! I shall tell you about the Sri Krishna jananam now. Kamsan was waiting with the fire of fear constantly burning inside him.

He said to himself, ‘I shall kill the eighth child as soon as it is born so that my death will become impossible.’

He strengthened the number of prison guards. Vishnu grew in the womb of Devaki as Krishna. Aadhiseshan grew in the womb of Rohini as Balram. Yoga Maayaa grew in the womb of Yasoda. The fear in Kamsan also grew along with these pregnancies.

Kamsan learned that the eight child of Devaki and Vasudev would be born on Krishna Paksha Ashtami in the month of Shravan under the star RohiNi. He spoke to the prison guards on that day.

“Guard the prison with unblinking eyes. Carry your weapons in readiness. If I catch you sleeping on duty our heads will roll like balls. The baby to be born is my mortal enemy. Efforts will be made to hide the birth or conceal the baby from me.

I can sleep in peace only after killing that child. It is ages since I have had a peaceful night’s sleep. Be on guard when you are on your guarding duty”

He went to bed and spent a sleepless night tossing on it. Meanwhile labor pains started for Devaki.

35. அயிராணியின் மறுப்பு.

கொடும்மொழிகள் காதில் விழுந்ததும்
நடுநடுங்கினாள் பேதை அயிராணி.

“தீய மொழிகள் தீயினும் தீயவை!
வாயிலில் தள்ளும் கொடிய நரகத்தின்!

நாக் கூசாமல் பேசும் உன் கதியை,
நான் கூறி நீ அறிய வேண்டுமோ?

காசிப முனிவரின் மகளான நீயும்
பேசிய மொழிகள் உனக்கு அழகோ?

என் கணவனையன்றி நாடேன் பிறரை!
உன் குலத்துக்கு கோடரி ஆகிவிடாதே!

யாண்டும் எனக்குக் காவல் உண்டு!
மீண்டு சென்றுவிடு மிக விரைவாக!”

கடித்தாள்அஜமுகி தன் உதடுகளை.
புடைத்தாள் தன் இரண்டு கரங்களை!

“சொன்ன சொல் கேளாவிடில் உன்னை
உண்டு விடுவேன் இக்கணமே இங்கு!

அண்ணன் விரும்பிய பெண் என்பதால்
உன்னை உயிரோடு விடுகிறேன் நான்!

வலிய இழுத்துச் செல்வேன் உன்னை!”
மெலிந்த ராணியின் கரம் பற்றினாள்.

“ஐயனரே ஓலம்! என் கடவுளே ஓலம்!
மெய்யர்க்கு மெய்யரே காப்பாற்றும்!”

கண்ணீர் வடியக் கதறினாள் அயிராணி!
எண்ணினாள் தன் காவல் தெய்வத்தை!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

2 # 35. INDRAANI REFUSES.

Indraani trembled like a leaf in a strong wind, on hearing these cruel words.

“Cruel words cast a person in the gates of fiery hell! You will pay heavily for these unkind words spoken to me by you. You are the daughter of a great rushi. Do these words suit your high birth?

I will never live with any one other than my husband Indra! You will destroy your clan by such suggestions. I am under protection. You had better be gone before it is too late .”

Ajamukhi could not bear the thought of a frail fair queen disobeying her. She bit her lips, and wrung her palms in anger. “I will eat you right now and here – had it not been for my brother who madly loves you! I will take you away by force!”

She caught hold of the queen’s frail hands. Indraani lamented and called out to her protector and savior with tears streaming down her eyes.

6b. அபிநந்தனன்

நாரதர் வந்தார் இந்திர லோகத்துக்கு;
நன்மைகள் புகன்றார் இந்திரனுக்கு.

“ஹேமாவதியின் மன்னன் அபிநந்தனன்
ஹோமம் செய்வதற்கு எண்ணியுள்ளான்.

இந்திரப் பதவியை, சுவர்க்க போகத்தைத்
தந்திரமாகப் பறித்துவிடும் அந்த யாகம்!

இந்த யாகத்தை அழிக்காவிட்டால் உன்
இந்திரப் பதவி கை மாறிவிடும் இந்திரா!”

இந்திரனை அழையாமல் இல்லை யாகம்;
இந்த முறையை விதித்தது சாஸ்திரம்.

“என்னைத் தவிர்த்து யாகம் செய்துவிட்டு
என் பதவியை, போகங்களையே பறிப்பதா?”

காலநேமியை தியானித்தான் இந்திரன்;
காலநேமி தோன்றினான் உக்ரரூபியாக!

“பூலோகத்தில் ஹேமாவதி பட்டினத்தில்
மாபெரும் யாகம் நடக்கப் போகின்றது!

அறிவற்ற அரசன் அபிநந்தனன் என்பவன்
அடைய நினைக்கிறான் இந்திரப் பதவியை.

அளவற்ற ரூபங்கள் எடுத்துச் செல்வாய்!
அழிப்பாய் அபிநந்தனையும், யாகத்தையும்!”:

கட்டவிழ்த்து விட்ட காலநேமி சென்றான்;
அட்டகாசமாக யாகசாலையில் நுழைந்தான்!

துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாக சாலையினை!
துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகப் பொருட்களை!

துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகம் செய்பவரை!
துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகம் காண்பவரை.

அத்துடன் நிறுத்தவில்லை காலநேமி;
மொத்தமாக அழித்தான் யாகங்களை.

பூலோகம் முழுவ தும் சுற்றி வந்தான்;
பூமியில் யாகம் நடக்க விடவில்லை!

துதித்தனர் முனிவர்கள் துதிக்கையனை;
மதித்து பதில் அளித்தார் ஓர் அசரீரியாக.

“வரேண்ய ராஜன் வீட்டில் பிறப்பேன்!
விரைவில் உங்கள் துயர் துடைப்பேன்!”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#36b. Abhinandanan

Narada visited Indra lokam. He cautioned Indra about the yaagam proposed by Abhinandanan – the king of Hemaavathy. If that yaagam got completed successfully, then Abhinandanan would usurp Indra lokam and become it new king. Indra would have to flee from there.

No yaagam could be performed without invoking Indra. But now this king proposed to do the yaagam without invoking Indra and grab his power and position too. Indra became very upset. He thought of Kaalanemi. Kaalanemi appeared in front of him in his ugra roopam.

Indra told him,”There is going to be a big yaagam in Hemaavathi city, to be conducted by its king Abhinandanan. Go forth and destroy it completely”

Kaalanemi was happy to be given a freehand in destruction. He went to the yaaga saala and destroyed it. He destroyed all the articles gathered for the yaagam, the sages who conducted the yaagam and the people who were witnessing the yaagam.

There was total destruction, but he did not stop with that. He went around the earth and started destroying all the yaagams, everywhere.

The rushis got worried by this unruly behavior and gathered together to pray to Vinayaka to put an end to Kaalanemi.

Vinayaka answered to their prayers as an asareeri, “I will be born as ths son of VareNya Raajan and put an end to all your sufferings.”

4#22b. தேவகியின் அறிவுரை

“நெருங்கிவிட்டது என் பிரசவ காலம் – வெளியே
நெருங்கி நிற்கின்றனர் காவலர் ஆயுதங்களுடன்.

எப்பாடு பட்டாகிலும் காக்க வேண்டும் மகனை;
எப்போதோ சொன்னாள் யசோதை என்னிடம்!

பிறந்த குழந்தையை அனுப்பிவிடு என்னிடம்;
பிறந்த குழந்தை தருவேன் வேறொன்று என்று!

எப்படிச் சேர்ப்போம் தெரியவில்லை எனக்கு;
எப்படியாவது சேர்க்க வேண்டும் அவளிடம்!”

பிறந்தது தெய்வக் குழந்தை நள்ளிரவில்;
பிறந்தவனைக் கண்டு கண்ணீர் வடித்தனர்.

இருக்க வேண்டும் அது ஆனந்த பாஷ்பமாக
இருந்தது அது துயரத்தின் வெளிப்பாடாக.

ஒலித்தது வானொலி இருவருக்கு மட்டும்,
“கலங்க வேண்டாம் உங்கள் மகனை எண்ணி!

உறங்குகின்றர் காவலர் என் வயப்பட்டு;
திறந்து கிடக்கின்றன பூட்டிய கதவுகள்;

எடுத்துச் செல்வாய் கோகுலத்துக்கு இவனை!
கொடுத்து விடு யசோதையிடம் இவனை!

கொடுப்பாள் யசோதை பெண் குழந்தைய;
எடுத்து வந்து விடு அவளை இங்கு!” எனவும்,

வாரி எடுத்தான் வசுதேவன் தன் மகனை;
கூறியபடித் திறந்திருந்தன சிறைக் கதவுகள்.

விரைந்து வெளியேறினான் காவலைக் கடந்து;
கரை புரண்டு ஓடியது யமுனையில் வெள்ளம்.

தயங்கினான் கடந்து செல்வது எப்படி என்று.
தயக்கம் மறைந்தது நீர் வடிந்து குறைந்ததும்.

4#22b. Devaki’s suggestion

Devaki told Vasudev, “The baby will be born soon. The prison is under tight scrutiny. The guards are armed and dense. We have to save our son somehow. Yasoda had told me long ago to send our new born son over to her and bring the infant she will give us in stead. But how to get out of the prison and walk past the armed guards is baffling”

The divine child was born at midnight. Devaki and Vasudev shed copious tears. It must have been tears of joy but they were just tears of sorrow. Just then they heard an asareeri. It said,

“Do not worry about your son. The guards of the prison are in deep slumber. The prison doors and the other gates all lay open now. Take your child to Gokulam and give it to Yasoda. Bring back the baby she will give you in exchange.”

Vasudev and Devaki felt relieved but they had to hurry now. Vasudev took his son and made haste. All the doors lay open and all the guards lay asleep.

But the water in river Yamuna had swollen to a dangerous level. Vasedev was baffled but the water drained off and became shallow very soon.

36a. மஹாகாளர் வருகை.

அண்மையில் மறைந்து நின்றிருந்தார்
அயிராணியின் காவலர் மஹாகாளர்.

அஜமுகி அயிராணியை இழுத்தவுடன்
அதட்டிக்கொண்டு முன்னே வந்தார்.

“எங்கே செல்லுகிறாய் களவாடியபடி?
தாங்கள் அஞ்சவேண்டாம் தாயே!

தங்களைப் பற்றி இழுத்த கரத்தை
இங்கேயே வெட்டுகின்றேன் நான்! ”

அயிராணி அச்சம் நீங்கினாள்;
அஜமுகி விழித்துப் பார்த்தாள்.

“என் முன் நில்லார் மும்மூர்த்திகளும்!
என்னை எதிர்க்கத் துணிந்தவன் யார் நீ?”

“அயிராணியை விட்டுவிடு இப்போதே!
செய்த குற்றத்தை மன்னித்துவிடுகிறேன்.”

“அஞ்சாது என்னிடம் பேசுகின்றாய்!
தஞ்சம் அயிராணிக்கு அளிக்கின்றாய்!

உன் எஜமானன் யார் என்று கூறுவாய்!”
“என் பெயர் வீரமஹாகாளன் என்பது.

வெள்ளை யானை வீரன், மூவுலகின் சூரன்
அளித்தான் இந்த வேலையை எனக்கு!”

அய்யனாருக்கும், இந்திரனுக்கும் ஒருபோல
ஐயம் இன்றிப் பொருந்தியது இந்த வர்ணனை.

2 # 36 a. The arrival of MahaaKaalar.

Mahaakaalar was hiding nearby. When Ajamukhi pulled Indraani’s hand, he came forward to protect her.

“Where do you take her?” he demanded Ajamukhi.

He told Indraani,”Please don’t be afraid. I will chop off the hand that caught hold of your hand”

Indraani felt reassured and Ajamukhi very troubled.

“The trimoorthis are afraid to stand in my presence. Who is this bold one then?”

“Let Indraani go and I will pardon your crime” Mahaakaalar told Ajamukhi.

“You speak very bravely. You protect Indraani. Tell me now who are you who is your master?’.

“I am Mahaakaalar and my master is the one who rides on a white elephant.”

This description suited both Indra and Aiyyanaar and so Ajamukhi got confused.

 6c. தெய்வக் குழந்தை

அரசர்களின் குறை என்றுமே இதுதானோ?
வரேண்யன் ஏங்கினான் ஒரு மகவுக்காக!

வாரணமுகன் அருள் புரிந்தான் அவனுக்கு.
வாரிசு உருவானது அரசி புஷ்பகையிடம்.

குறித்த காலத்தில் பிறந்தது ஆண் மகவு.
மறைத்துவிட்டார் மாயையால் அவனை!

தானே மாறினார் ஒரு ஆண் குழந்தையாக!..
தும்பிக்கை, தொந்தியுடன் ஒரு குழந்தையா?

அஞ்சினர் தோழியர் குழந்தையைக் கண்டு!
அஞ்சினர் அரசி, அரசனும், அமைச்சர்களும்!

எம்பெருமானே வந்து பிறந்திருந்த போதும்
துன்புற்று வருந்தியது அந்த நாடு முழுவதும்.

அரச லக்ஷணங்கள் இல்லாத குழந்தை
அரண்மனையில் வளருவது எதற்காக?

வீரர்கள் எடுத்துச் சென்றனர் குழந்தையை;
விட்டு விட்டனர் ஒரு தடாகத்தின் கரையில்.

நீராட வந்த பராசரர் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தார்.
சீராட்டி வளர்த்தார் தெய்வக் குழந்தையை.

நாளொரு மேனி பொழுதொரு வண்ணம்;
வளர்ந்து வந்தான் அந்த தெய்வக் குழந்தை

மூஷிகன் வந்தான் முனிவர் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு
மூஷிகன் விளைவித்தான் பெரும் சேதம்.

பரசுவை ஏவினான் தெய்வக் குழந்தை,
“முரட்டு மூஷிகனைக் கட்டியிழுத்து வா!”

பரசு துரத்தியது மூஷிகனை விடாமல்!
பரசுவுக்கு அஞ்சி ஓடினான் மூஷிகன்.

பாதாளம் வரை குடைந்து சென்றும்
பயன் இல்லை, கட்டி விட்டது பரசு.

இழுத்துச் சென்றது முரட்டு மூஷிகனை.
விழுந்து வணங்கினான் அவன் அவரை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#36c. The divine child

Was this the perpetual problem of all the kings? VareNya Raajan did not have any children! He craved for a child more than anything else in the world. Soon Vinayaka took pity on him and graced his queen Pushpagai with a child in her womb.

A male child was born in due time but Vinayaka hid the child by his Maya. He transformed himself into a male child with a trunk and pot belly and took the place of the new born child.

The attendants of the queen got frightened to see a child with an elephant face and pot belly. The Queen, the King and all his ministers all got terrified to see this unusual child. The country was sad not knowing that Lord Vinayaka himself was the weird child.

What was the fun in having a freak child in the palace, when it it did not have any Raja lakshaNas? The soldiers took the child and left it on the bank of a pond in a forest.

Sage Paraasarar came for his bath and saw the baby. He knew it was Lord Vinayaka himself and took the baby to his ashram. He took good care of the child and the child grew up well.

Mooshikan reached the ashram of Paraasarar. He did great damage there. The divine child ordered its parasu, “Go forth, bind the mooshikan and bring him to me”

The parasu chased the mooshikan. He ran all over the place and dug hole right up to the Paataalaa but it was of no use! The parasu captured him, bound him and dragged him to the divine child. Mooshikan fell at the feet of the divine child.

 4#22c. யோக மாயா (1)

அடைந்தான் நந்தகோபன் வீட்டைக் காரிருளில்;
இடையர் அறியவில்லை வசுதேவன் வருகையை.

பெற்றெடுத்தாள் யசோதை பெண் குழந்தையை;
பெற்ற பெண்ணைத் தந்துவிட்டாள் அவனுக்கு!

வாங்கிக் கொண்டான் வசுதேவன் பெண்ணை;
தூங்கும் காவலரை எண்ணி விரைந்தான்;

பெண் குழந்தையைத் தந்தான் தேவகியிடம்.
எண்ணினாள் நடக்கப் போவது என்ன என்று!

வீறிட்டு அழுதது பெண் குழந்தை – அதனால்
விழித்துக் கொண்டனர் உறங்கிய காவலர்.

விரைந்தனர் கம்சனிடம் செய்தி சொல்ல.
விரைந்தான் கம்சனும் சிசுவைக் கொல்ல.

“எட்டாவது குழந்தை விஷ்ணுவின் அம்சம்?
எடுத்துத் தாருங்கள் என்னிடம்!” என்றதும்,

அழுகின்ற முகத்தோடு கொடுத்தான் வசுதேவன்
அழுகின்ற பெண் குழந்தையைக் கம்சனிடம்.

திடுக்கிட்டான் கம்சன் பெண் சிசுவைக் கண்டு;
‘அடுக்குமா இது? அசரீரி வாக்கும் பொய்க்குமா?

நாரதரும் கூறினார் எட்டாவது மகன் குறித்து!
நாரதர் வாக்குப் பொய்ப்பது புதிர் அல்லவோ?

மாற்றி இருப்பார்களோ குழந்தையை?
மாற்ற முடியுமா கட்டுக் காவலை மீறி?

பெண்ணோ ஆணோ அழித்து அடைவேன் அமைதி.’
கண்களை மூடிக் கொண்டு அறைந்தான் பாறை மீது.

4#22c. Yoga Maayaa (1)

Vasudev reached Gokulam when the night was pitch dark. No one knew about his visit. Yasoda had delivered a baby girl. She gave that girl to Vasudev and took away his son.

Vasudev remembered the prison guards in deep slumber and hurried back to make sure that they did not see him return with the baby girl. Devaki became anxious thinking about the future of the female child in the hands of Kamsa.

The baby cried loudly waking up all the prison guards. They ran to inform Kamsa that the baby had arrived. Kamsa rushed to the prison to put an end to the new born infant. He mocked at Devaki and Vasudev and said,

“I believe this child is the amsam of Vishnu. Nothing can make me happier than to get rid of this Vishnu once for all.” He took the baby from the hands of Vasudev who was shedding tears.

Kamsa was shocked to find that the infant was a girl and not a boy as was predicted. “Can the prediction of an asareeri prove to be wrong?

Narada also spoke about the eighth son and not the eighth daughter. May be the baby was exchanged secretly. But exchanging the child secretly is impossible with so many armed prison guards on duty.”

He thought why bother about whether the baby was a male of a female – as long as he could get rid of it promptly. He held he baby by her legs and dashed her against a rock.

36b. மாதர் இருவர்.

தேவர்கோனின் ஏவலாளனா இவன்?
ஏவினாள் முத்தலைச் சூலத்தை அஜமுகி.

இரு துண்டாகச் சூலம் உடையும்படி
ஒரே வீச்சில் வீழ்த்தினார் மஹாகாளர்.

அருகில் இருந்த துன்முகியின் கையில்
அயிராணியை அளித்தாள் அஜமுகி.

துன்முகியின் சூலத்தைத் தான் வாங்கி
வன்மத்துடன் பாய்ச்சினாள் அஜமுகி.

அதுவும் இரண்டு துண்டாகி வீழ்ந்தது
மஹா காளரின் ஒரு வாள் வீச்சினால்.

மலையைப் பறித்து எறிந்தாள் துன்முகி.
மலை தூள் தூளானது வாள் நுனியில்.

“சூரபத்மனின் வீரத் தோள்களில்
ஆரமாவாள் இனிமேல் அயிராணி.

தாரகன் படைவீரர் வெல்வர் உன்னை!
தாமதம் எதற்கு நானே கொல்வேன்!

வீணாக இறவாதே ஓடிப்போ! – கண்
காணாத இடத்துக்கு விரைந்து உடனே!”

“பெண் என்று எண்ணிக் கொல்லவில்லை!
வீண் வம்புகள் செய்யாமல் விலகிவிடு!”

அயிராணியுடன் அஜமுகி, துன்முகியர்
அங்கிருந்து செல்வதற்கு விரையவே,

மின்னலெனப் பாய்ந்தார் மஹாகாளர்;
பின்னாத கூந்தலைப் பற்றினார் கையால்.

இடையில் இருந்த உடை வாட்படையால்
உடன் துண்டித்தார் அவள் கரத்தை.

துன்முகியின் கரத்தையும் துண்டித்து
மண்மீது புரட்டினார் மாதரை உதைத்து.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 # 36b. Ajamukhi and Durmukhi.

“So he is the servant of Indra”. Ajamukhi threw her trident at Mahaakaalar. He cut it into two with his sword.

Ajamukhi took the soolam from Durmukhi and threw it at Mahaakaalar. It was also cut into two by him.

Durmukhi threw a mountain. He shattered it with the tip of his sword.

“Indrani’s hand will decorate Soorapadman like a garland worn around his neck by him”. The two asura women grabbed Indraani and tried to go away from there.

Mahaakaalar moved in fast. He held Ajamukhi by her hair and chopped off her hand. He did likewise to Durmukhi. He pushed them on the ground and kicked them hard.

6d. மூஷிக வாஹனம்

“அபயம்! அபயம் அளியுங்கள் ஸ்வாமி!
அபாயம் இல்லை இனிமேல் என்னால்.

கிரௌஞ்சன் என்னும் கந்தர்வன் நான்;
காமத்தால் கண்ணிருந்தும் குருடானேன்.

முனிவரின் பத்தினியை மோஹித்தேன்;
முனிவரின் சாபத்தால் மூஷிகன் ஆனேன்.

தங்கள் வாஹனமாக ஆகும் பாக்கியம்
தந்து எனை அனுக்ரஹியுங்கள் ஐயனே!”

மூஷிகனை வாஹனமாக ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு,
மூஷிகன் முதுகின் மீது ஆரோஹணித்தார்.

“அபிநந்தனனின் யாகத்தை அழித்த பிறகும்
அடங்கவில்லை இந்திரன் ஏவிய காலநேமி.

அழிக்கின்றான் அனைத்து யாகங்களையும்
அழித்து அவனைக் காப்பாற்றுவீர் எம்மை!’

முனிவர்கள் முன் வைத்தனர் விண்ணப்பம்
கனிவுடன் கவனிக்கின்றேன் என்றார் ஐயன்.

இந்திராதி தேவர்கள் வந்தனர் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு.
தந்தார் ஆசனம் பராசரர் வந்த அதிதிகளுக்கு.

“காலநேமியின் தலையீட்டால் நின்றுவிட்டது
பூலோகத்தில் நடக்கின்ற யாக, யக்ஞங்கள்.

அவிர்பாகம் பெறாததால் பலவீனத்தால்
அவதிப்படுகின்றோம் பராக்கிரமம் குன்றி.

காலநேமியை அழிக்க வல்ல ஒருவர்
ஞாலத்தில் பிறந்துள்ளதை அறிந்தோம்.

பிரமன் அறிவுறுத்தியபடி வந்துள்ளோம்”
பிரசன்னம் ஆனார் விநாயகர் அப்போது.

“அபயம் அளித்துக் காத்திடும் ஐயனே!”
அபயம் அளித்தார் அன்புடன் விநாயகர்.

#36d. Mooshika Vaahanam

“Please save my oh lord! There will no more danger or damage caused by me. I was a gandharvan named Krounjan.

I felt desire to possess a rushi patni and misbehaved with her. Rishi Sabari cursed me to become a mooshikan. Kindly accept me as your vaahanam and save me from this parasu”

Vinayaka accepted him as his vaahananm. Rushis came in and said “All the yaaga and yagna are being destroyed by Kaalanemi. Please put an end to his atrocities and save us.”

Indra and the other Deva came to the ashram then. Paraasarar extended hospitality to those rare visitors. Indra said,

“Kaalanemi is disrupting all the yaaga in the world. We do not get our share of the offerings and have become very weak now.

We know that a child who is capable of destroying Kaalanemi is born in the world and we have come to see him.”

Vinayaka appeared there. The Deva prayed to him, “Abhayam! Abhayam! please put an end to Kaalanemi ” Vinayaka agreed with a smile.

4#22d. யோக மாயை (2)

நழுவியது குழந்தை கம்சன் பிடியிலிருந்து;
எழும்பியது விண்ணில் தேவியின் வடிவில்!

எட்டுக் கரங்களிலும் விவித ஆயுதங்கள் ஏந்தி,
எட்டாத உயரத்தில் ஒளி மயமாக விண்ணில்!

திகைத்து நின்றனர் குழுமி இருந்தவர்கள்;
நகைக்கும் குரலில் பேசினாள் யோகமாயை.

“கொல்லத் துணிந்தாயா என்னையே கம்சா?
கொல்வதால் வெல்வாயா உன் மரணத்தை?

கொல்லப்படுபவள் அல்ல நான் அறிந்து கொள்.
கொல்லப் படுவாய் நீ வேறு ஒரு சிறுவனால்!

உன்னைக் கொல்ல உருவானவன் உள்ளான்
உன்னால் அணுக முடியாத இடத்தில்!” என்றாள்.

மறைந்து விட்டாள் விண்ணில் இருந்த தேவி;
உறைந்து விட்டாள் தெய்வமாக ஆலயங்களில்.

திகைத்தான் கம்சன் அவள் மொழி கேட்டு !
அழைத்தான் அசுர குல வீரர்களை உடனே!

“நேற்றுப் பிறந்த ஆண் சிசுக்களை எல்லாம்
சற்றும் தயவின்றிக் கொன்று குவியுங்கள்!”

விரைந்தனர் அசுர வீரர் எண் திசைகளிலும்
மறைந்தனர் கண் பார்வையிலிருந்து உடனே.

தனியிடம் சென்று அஞ்சி நடுங்கிய கம்சன்
இனிச் செய்வது என்னவென்று சிந்தித்தான்.

4#22d. Yoga Maayaa (2)

The baby girl slipped away from Kamsa’s hands. She rose high in the sky and shone brilliantly in the form of Devi Yoga Maayaa – wielding various weapons in her eight arms. The people gathered there stood transfixed with shock and fear.

Devi spoke in a sweet voice and in a mocking tone to Kamsa. “So you have dared to kill me. But will your killing me save you from your own death oh Kamsa! I am not someone who could be killed by anyone.

You will be killed by a boy who is born to put an end to you. He is safe and sound in a place far away from here – which you may never be able to find out”

She disappeared from the sky and ever since resides in all the temples in the various forms of Shakti Devi.

Kamsa was shocked beyond words. He gathered all the mighty auras immediately. He ordered them, “Go forth and kill mercilessly all the male children born yesterday.” The asuras spread out in all the eight directions immediately.

Kamsa went to a lonely spot and shuddered with fear thinking about his mortal enemy who managed to escape from his clutches. He strained his brain to come up with scheme of future actions.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

 37. அஜமுகி வாட்டம்.

குருதி ஆறாகப் பெருகியது கையில்
வருந்திப் புலம்பினர் மாதர் இருவரும்;

கைகளை அறைந்து, நிலத்தில் புரண்டு,
கால்களை உதைத்து, உடல்தேய உருண்டு,

வாயினால் தீயைக் கக்கிக் கலுழ்ந்தனர்
“வாராத இழிவு இன்று வந்து விட்டதே!”

சினந்தாள் உலகையே அழிக்க விரும்பி.
நைந்தாள் துன்பத்தில் அழுது புலம்பி.

அஜமுகி போன்றே அரற்றினாள் துர்முகி.
“அண்ணனிடம் சென்று சொல்வோம் வா!”

“அண்டங்கள் அனைத்தையும் ஆளும் என்
அண்ணன் செல்வாக்கை விரைவில் அறிவாய்.

எங்கு ஒளிந்தாலும் சிறைசெய்வேன்!
தங்கை அல்லவா நான் அசுர அரசனின்?”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

2 # 37. Ajamukhi depressed.

Blood started flowing from the cut hands. The pain was too much to bear.

Ajamukhi beat her palms on the ground; she rolled on the ground; she kicked her legs in pain; she spat fire!

She lamented,”Such a shame for me! It has never happened before!”

Durmukhi suffered similarly and told Ajamukhi,“Let us go and report this to King Soorapadman”

Ajamuki threatened Mahaa kaalar and Indraani,

“My bother is the ruler of the universe. I will have you arrested wherever you may try to hide. I am the sister of the asura king!”
