DEVI BHAAGAVATAM - SKANDA 4

4#20b. கர்மங்கள்

“உண்டு மூன்று உட்பிரிவுகள் ஆகாமியத்தில்;
கொண்டுள்ளது அது மூன்று இரட்டைகளை.

இன்பம், துன்பம் என்பது முதல் இரட்டை;
இரண்டாவது இரட்டை ஹிதம், அஹிதம்.

நல்வினை, தீவினை ஆகும் மூன்றாவது.
வெல்ல முடியாது இவற்றில் எதையுமே!

அனுபவிப்போம் பொருட்களைப் புலன்களால்;
அனுபவங்கள் உருவாகும் இன்ப துன்பங்களாக.

ஹிதம், அஹிதம் காராணமாகும் பிறவிகளுக்கு;
இதன் மூலம் கிடைக்கும் பிறவிக்கேற்ற உருவம்.

ஆகாமியம் விதையாகும் சஞ்சித கர்மத்துக்கு;
ஆகும் இதில் விளையும் பயிர் பிராரப்த கர்மம்.

தொடரும் இந்தச் சங்கிலித் தொடர் நீண்டு;
இடையறாது ஆன்மா முக்தி பெறும் வரை.

நல்வினைப் பயனாகும் ஸ்வர்க்க வாழ்வு
தீவினைப் பயன் ஆம் நரகத்தில் உழல்வது

பிறவிகள் தொடரும் வினைப்பயன் முடிந்ததும்;
பிறவியில் சேர்ப்போம் ஆகாமியத்தை மீண்டும்.

கர்மங்கள் நீங்கிவிடா பிராயசித்தத்தினால்
கர்ம வினைகள் தொடரும் ஜன்மாந்திரமாக

கொடுத்து விடுவோம் இவனைக் கம்சனிடம்;
கொடுத்த வாக்கைக் கெடுப்பவன் பொய்யன்.

சத்தியத்தை விடுத்தால் வீணாகி விடுவோம்;
சத்தியமும், தர்மமும் வாழ்வின் குறிக்கோள்.

சுகமோ துக்கமோ இல்லை நம் வசத்தில்!
செய்யவேண்டும் நல்ல செயல்களையே!”

#20b. The effects of Karma

“There are three division in Aagaamiyam. It consists of three pairs of opposites. Joy and Sorrow form the first pair. The Favorable and The Unfavorable form the second pair. Good karma and bad karma form the third pair of opposites.

We enjoy the objects through our sense organs. These sensual experiences exhibit as pleasures and pains. These likes and dislikes which are also called as ruchi or vaasana cause the future births. The form is allotted to us according to the birth allotted.

Aagaamiyam is the seed for Sanchitam. Praarabdam is the produce of this cultivation. This series goes on for ever-unless and until the jeevan is liberated from samsaaraa.

The effect good karma is the life in heaven and the effect of bad karma is the suffering in hell. The births continue one after another. We perform more karmas and earn more Aagaamiyam.

Parihaaram cannnot nullify the effects of karma. The effect of karma follows us for many births. Let us hand over this child to Kamsan as promised. One who breaks a promise is a liar. We we break a promise our lives will be wasted.

Dharma and satym are the purpose of our lives .The pleasures and pains are not under our control. So let do only good karmas and avoid bad karma.” Vasudevan explained to his wife Devaki.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

31. இந்திராணி.

இந்திரனைக் கண்டதும் எழுந்து சென்று
இந்திராணி வணங்கி வரவேற்றாள்.

தேவர்கள் படும் அல்லல்களையும், தான்
தேவாதி தேவனைக் காணச் செல்வதையும்

தேவர்கோன் தெரிவித்தான் அயிராணிக்கு.
துவண்டு போய்விட்டாள் செய்தி கேட்டு.

“விண்ணுலகம் நீத்து இங்கு வந்தோம்.
மண்ணுலகில் மறைந்து உறைகின்றோம்;

இணையற்ற செல்வச்செழிப்பை இழந்தாலும்,
இணை பிரியாமல் வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றோம்.

என்னைப் பிரிந்து நீர் சென்று விட்டால்
என் கதி என்ன ஆகுமோ அறியேன்!

அவுணர்கள் இங்கும் தேடிவந்து பற்பல
அல்லல்கள் அளிக்கப் போவது உறுதி.

நல்வினை, தீவினை வேறுபாடு அறியாத
பொல்லாத அவுணர்கள் எதுவும் செய்வர்.

மகன் ஜயந்தனும் இங்கே உடன் இல்லை;
புகல் ஒன்றும் இல்லாமல் தனியே நான்!”

“பாதுகாப்பு இன்றி உன்னை விட்டுச்செல்லும்
பாவி ஆகிவிடவில்லை இன்னமும் நான்.

அரியும், அரனும் சேர்ந்து பெற்றெடுத்த
அரிய ஐய்யன் உனக்குத் துணை ஆவான்.

நினைத்த மாத்திரத்தில் நின் முன்தோன்றி
நின்னை காப்பான் இது என் உறுதிமொழி.”

“அய்யனார் வரலாற்றை நான் அறியேன்!
ஐயங்கள் தீர அதை உரைப்பீரா ஸ்வாமி?”

2 (# 31). Indraani.

Indraani welcomed Indra and paid her respects to him. Indra told her the plight and sufferings of the devas and his decision to visit Kailash to meet lord Siva.

Indrani felt visibly shaken, “We left heaven and came to hide on earth. Even though we had given up the pleasures of heaven, we still had each other.

Now you want to go away leaving me alone. The asuras do not distinguish between the dharma and adharma.

They are capable of any sin. Even our on Jayanthan is not with us. Who will protect me?”

Indra replied, “I am not so cruel as to leave you unprotected. Iyyanaar will be your protector. He is the son of Hari and Haran. You meditate on him and he will rush to your side to help you.

“Will you please relate to me all about of Ayyanaar?” Indraani asked Indra.

5d. மயேச்சுதன்

மயேச்சுதன் ஒரு சிறந்த சிவபக்தன்.
மன்னன் அவன் தொழுதான் சிவனை,

இடைவிடாது தொடர்ந்து தினமும்!
கிடைத்தன அஷ்ட ஐஸ்வர்யங்கள்!

தேடி வந்தார் தேவ குரு பிருஹஸ்பதி;
ஓடி வந்து வரவேற்றான் மயேச்சுதன்.

“கேள்விப்பட்டேன் உன் பெருமைகளை
கேட்டது கொஞ்சம்; கேளாதது அதிகம்!

என்னை வணங்கினாய் உள்ளன்புடன்;
உன்னை வணங்குவர் இனி அனைவரும்!”

“என்று நடக்கும் சுவாமி அது போல?”
என்று கேட்டான் மன்னன் ஆவலுடன்.

“யானையிடம் நீ தோன்றும் பொழுது
அனைவரும் தொழுவர்; முக்தி கிட்டும்!”

தேச சஞ்சாரம் செய்தான் மயேச்சுதன்;
தேவரிஷியை உபசரிக்கவில்லை சரிவர!

‘யானை போல் கண்மண் தெரியாதவனை’
யானையாகப் பிறக்கும்படி சபித்துவிட்டார்.

“சிவன் கையால் வதம் செய்யப்படுவாய்!.
சிவன் கையால் நீ முக்தியும் அடைவாய்”

கரிகளின் கூட்டத்தில் கஜமுக அசுரனாக
பரியலி வனத்தில் வந்து பிறந்தான் அவன்.

பூர்வ ஜன்ம நினைவுகள் மாறவில்லை
ஆர்வம் மேலிட்டது சிவனைக் கண்டிட.

“பரியலி வனத்தில் பார்வதி தேவியார்
பரமசிவனுடன் தங்கி இருக்கின்றார்!” என

யோகத்தில் அமர்ந்திருந்தார் பரமசிவன்;
சோலையில் உலவினாள் பார்வதி தேவி.

ரத்தின மண்டபத்தை முட்டித் தள்ளினான்,
மொத்தமாகப் பெயர்த்து விட்டான் கஜமுகன்!

#35d. Mayechchudan

King Mayechchudan was a sincere devotee of Lord Siva. He prayed to Lord Siva regularly with bhakti and was blessed with all the eight riches of the world.

Bruhaspati visited him one day. The king Mayechchudan was very excited by his visit. He came running and welcomed the Devaguru with deep reverence.

Bruhaspati blessed Mayechchudan, ” You prostrated to me. In the same way the whole world will prostrate to you too!”

The king was both happy and curious and wanted to know when all these things would happen.

The Devaguru said, “When you will be born as an elephant all these things will happen”

Mayechchudan went on desa sanchaaram. He was preoccupied and failed to welcome Narada with the usual fervor. Narada felt hurt by this negligence, oversight and indifference.

He cursed Mayechchudan,”You behaved like an elephant which does not see much. May you be born as an elephant. You will get killed by Siva and attain liberation in his hands ”

Mayechchudan was born as an elephant in the Pariyali Vanam. His name was Gajamukan. He remembered his past very well. His bhakti towards Siva remained undiminished.

He was eagerly waiting for his encounter with Lord Siva. He heard that Siva and Parvathi Devi were staying in the same Pariyali vanam. He went out to meet Lord Siva.

Siva was in yoga nishatai and Parvathi was strolling in the garden. Gajamuka asuran uprooted the the gem studded mandapam made for Parvathi and made it tumble on the ground.

4#20c. கம்சனின் கருணை

கம்சனிடம் கொடுக்க எடுத்துச் செல்கையில்
கண்டவர் அதிசயித்தனர் இந்த விந்தையை!

“கொடுமையே உருவான கம்சனிடம் கொடுக்க
எடுத்துச் செல்கின்றான் இந்த சிசுவை!” என்று.

கொடுத்தான் வசுதேவன் கம்சனிடம் சிசுவை;
எடுத்தான் கைகளில்; சிரித்தான் கம்சன்!

“தர்மாத்மா நீரே உம் வாக்கு சுத்தத்தால்!
தரும் துன்பம் உமது எட்டாவது குழந்தை.

எமனல்ல மற்ற ஏழு குழந்தைகள் எனக்கு;
எடுத்துச் செல்லலாம் உம் குழந்தையை

விட்டு விடுகிறேன் இன்பமாக வாழ்வதற்கு;
கட்டாயம் தரவேண்டும் எட்டாவது சிசுவை!”

வியப்பி ஆழ்ந்து திரும்பினான் வசுதேவன்
வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தாள் தேவகி இது கண்டு.

வந்தார் கலக முனிவர் நாரதர் கம்சனிடம்;
வரவேற்று உபசரித்தான் கம்சன் அவரை.

“மேருமலை சென்றபோது சேதி கேட்டேன்;
பிரம தேவன் கூறினார் தேவர்களிடம்,

அவதரிப்பார் விஷ்ணு கம்சனைக் கொல்ல
தேவகி வசுதேவர்களின் மகனாக என்று.

ஏன் கொல்லாமல் விட்டு விட்டாய் சிசுவை?
கூறுவாய் என்னிடம் உண்மையை!” எனவும்,

“எட்டாவது பிள்ளையே எனக்கு யமன் ஆவான்.
எதற்குக் கொல்ல வேண்டும் முதல் பிள்ளையை?

என்று எண்ணி உயிருடன் விட்டு விட்டேன்
இன்று பிறந்த முதல் குழந்தயை!”என்றான்

4#29c. Kamsan’s kindness

Vasudev carried his new born son to hand over to Kamsan as promised. The onookers stood transfixed to see this rare occurrence. “The poor infant is to be given away to the cruel Kamsan.”

Vasudev handed the child to Kamsan. He took the infant and laughed while commenting, “You are a dharmaatma Vasudev. You have kept your promise. But this child is not me enemy. Only your eighth child wil be my enemy. So I shall spare this infant with life. But make sure your eighth son is promptly handed over to me as soon as he is born”

Vasudev never expected such kindness from Kamsan. He was shcked beyond words. Devaki also was shocked to see her husband come back with their infant son alive.

Narada came to meet Kamsan. Kamsan welcomed the Devarushi heartily. Narada told Kamsan, “I heard this news when I went to the Mount Meru. Brahma was telling the other Devaas that Vishnu will be born as the son of Davaki and Vasudev to kill you Kamsan! Why did you spare the life of the child born today? Tell me the truth!”

Kamsan replied to Naarada, “Only the eighth child will be my mortal enemy not the other seven. So I spared the life of the infant born today!”
 
KANDA PURAANAM -ASURA KAANDAM

32a. ஐயனார் வரலாறு.

தேவர்கள், அசுரர்கள் முன்னொரு நாள்
திருப் பாற்கடலைக் கடையலுற்றனர்.

நச்சரவு அணிந்த நாதனைத் தொழாமல்
இச்சை கொண்டு அமுதம் விழைந்தாலும்,

காலகூட விஷம் திரண்டு எழுந்ததும்
கால்களைப் பற்றினர் கயிலை நாதனின்!

நஞ்சை உண்டு கண்டத்தில் அடக்கி
நஞ்சுண்டான் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்,

“இன்னமும் கடையுங்கள் தொடர்ந்து!
பின்னர் தோன்றும் விரும்பிய அமுதம்!”

கடையத் தொடங்குகையில் மறந்துவிட்டனர்
தடைகளைத் தகர்க்கும் விநாயகனைத் தொழ!

மந்தர மத்து விழுந்தது பாதாளத்தில் – ஹரி
மந்தரமலையைத் தாங்கினான் கூர்மமாக.

பொற்குடம் கடலில் தோன்றி எழும்பியது.
அற்புத அமுதம் அதனுள் ஒளிர்ந்தது.

முயற்சியில் ஒன்றுபட்ட சுர, அசுரர்கள்
கிளர்ச்சியில் ஈடுபட்டனர் சுவைப்பதற்கு!

போர் துவங்கியது இருகுழுக்கள் இடையே.
போரைத் தவிர்க்க எண்ணினான் திருமால்.

அனைவரும் விரும்பும் ஒரு வடிவு எடுத்தார்!
அனைத்தையும் மறக்கச் செய்யும் மோகினி!

2 (# 32a). Aiyyanaar.

Once the sura and asura churned the ocean of milk to bring out the Amrutham. They did not seek the blessings of Lord Siva.

Yet when the haalaahalam appeared, they ran to Siva the savior. He drank the deadly poison and arrested it in his throat. He blessed the sura and asura to continue to churn until the nectar appeared.

They resumed the churning but they forgot to worship Lord Ganesh – the remover of obstacles.

The Mandara mountsin used as a giant churn, sank to the patala. Vishnu appeared as a giant tortoise and supported the Mandara on his hard shell.

Then the nectar appeared in a gold pot. The suras and asuras wanted all the nectar only for themselves and started to fight.

Vishnu wanted to avoid the fight and the war. So he transformed himself into Mohini, a beautiful woman – whom no one can resist.

5e. கீர்த்திவாசன்

அஞ்சிய தோழியர் ஓடினர் தேவியிடம்;
அஞ்சிய தேவியோ ஓடினாள் பிரானிடம்.

யோகம் கலைந்து எழுந்தார் சிவபிரான்.
வேகமாக எறிந்தார் தன் சூலாயுதத்தை!

விழுந்தான் சிரம் துண்டாகிய கஜமுகன்!
விழும் பொழுது “சிவாய நம:” என்றான்.

அவசரத்தில் பக்தனைக் கொன்றதால்
அவனை எழுப்பி வரம் தந்தார் சிவன்.

“தங்கள் ஸ்பரிசம் தந்தது முக்தியை
தங்கள் சேவையே என் விருப்பம்” என

யானைத் தோலை உரித்து அணிந்தார்;
யானைத் தலையை பத்திரப் படுத்தினார்.

கீர்த்தி வாசன் என்னும் பெயருக்குப்
பாத்திரம் ஆனார் சிவபிரான் இதனால்.

மண்டபம் நிலை நாட்டப்பட்டது மீண்டும்.
மண்டபத்தில் தேவி; நிஷ்டையில் பிரான்!

மிக்காரும், ஒப்பாருமில்லை என்று
எக்காளம் இட்டு வந்தான் சிந்தூரன்.

“பூரித்து மகிழ்ச்சி அடையாதே சிந்தூரா!
தூரத்தில் இல்லை உன் பரிதாப முடிவு!

வல்லவன் ஒருவன் பார்வதி வயிற்றில்
கொல்வதற்காக வளர்த்து வருகிறான்!”

யார் பேசியது என்று ஊரெங்கும் தேடினான்
யாரையும் காணோம்; அது அசரீரி வாக்கு!

‘என்னை அழிப்பதற்கு ஒருவனா – நான்
என்னை அழிக்குமுன் அவனை அழிப்பேன்!”

சென்றான் கைலாசம்; இல்லை அங்குதேவி!
சென்றான் சுவர்க்கம்; இல்லை அங்கு தேவி!

அறிந்தான் தேவி பூவுலகில் இருப்பதை.
அடைந்தான் பரியலி வனத்தை உடனே!

#35e. Keerthivaasan

The frightened ladies ran to Parvathi Devi. The frightened Devi ran to lord Siva. His yoga was disturbed.

He got up and threw his trident at Gajamukhan. Gajamukhan fell down with his head severed. His last words were “Sivaya namah”

Siva felt sorry for having killed his own devotee in haste. He woke up Gajamukhan to give him boons.

Gajamukhan said, “My only wish is to be of some service to you my lord!” Siva ripped off his hide and wore it. He was called as Keeerthi Vaasan after this incident. Siva kept safe the head of Gajmukhan.

The gem studded mandapam was put back in its place. Parvathi was in the mandapam and Siva in Yoga as before.

Sindooran had become arrogant that he was second to none and superior to everyone.

The aakaashvaani warned him,”Do not be so proud Sindoraa! Your pathetic end is very near. A baby is growing the womb of Parvati. He will surely kill you.”

Sindooran looked around and found no one there. He said to himself. “I will not wait till that child in the womb emerges and kills me. I will kill it first”

He went to Kailash in search of Parvati Devi. She was not there. He then went to swarggam. Devi was not there either. He found out that Parvathi was in Pariyali vanam and went there immediately.

4#20d. நாரதர் கலகம்

கலவென்று நகைத்தார் இதைக் கேட்டு
கலகப் பிரியரான தேவரிஷி நாரதர்.

“தேவர்கள் தந்திரத்தை நீ அறியவில்லை
தேவர்கள் தகர்ப்பர் தம் விதிமுறைகளை!

அற்பப் பகைவன் என யாரும் இல்லை;
சொற்ப இடம் தந்தால் விளையும் துன்பம்.

முளையிலேயே கிள்ள வேண்டும் பகையை;
முளைத்து மரமானால் வெல்வது துர்லபம்.

எட்டாவது பிள்ளை தான் எமன் என்கின்றாய்!
எட்டாவது பிள்ளையாக யாரைக் கூறுவாய்?

எட்டுப் பிள்ளைகளும் ஒன்றாக நின்றால்
எட்டாவது ஆவான் ஒவ்வொரு மகனும்.

வசுதேவன் பிள்ளைகள் அனைவரையும்
நசுக்கிவிடு முளைத்து வளரும் முன்னமே.”

எட்டாவது பிள்ளை கணக்கை எண்ணினான்;
எட்டாவது பிள்ளை ஆவான் ஒவ்வொருவனும்

விட்டு விட்டு வேறு விதமாக எண்ணினால்!.
விட்டு விட்டால் துயரம் விளைவது உறுதி!

திரும்பக் கொணரச் செய்தான் பிள்ளையை;
கருங்கல் மனத்துடன் செயல்பட்டான் கம்சன்.

கற்பாறையில் அறைந்து கொன்றான் சிசுவை
அற்ப பகைவனையும் அழித்து மகிழ்ந்தான்.

4#20d. Narada’s advice

Narada had a hearty laugh on hearing Kamsan’s words. He said, “Kamsa! You do not understand the craftiness of the Devaas. They will change the rules and the orders the way they wish to.

There is no enemy who is insignificant enough to be ignored. An enemy should be nipped in the bud. If he grows up and becomes strong, it will become impossible to vanquish him.

You say that only the eighth child is your mortal enemy. But who is the eighth child?’ If all the eight sons are made to stand we can count in different orders to make any of them the eighth son. All the sons of Vasudev are your enemies. Get rid of all of them as and when they are born.”

Kamsan understood Narada’s logic clearly. Any of the eight sons could become the eighth son if counted in different ways. He ordered the new born to be brought to him. He dashed it against a rock killing the infant and heaved a deep sigh of relief.

32b. மாலின் சூழ்ச்சி.

மயக்கும் மோகினி இனிக்கப் பேசினாள்;
தயக்கம் இன்றிக் காதல் வலை வீசினாள்.

“அமுதம் உள்ளது இதோ பொற்குடத்தில்!
அமுதனைய நானும் உள்ளேன் உம் முன்பு!

விரும்பும் பொருளைத் தேர்வு செய்யுங்கள்;
விரும்பியதை அடைந்து இன்புறுவீர்கள்.”

“எமக்கு வேண்டியது அழகி நீயே!”- அசுரர்;
“எமக்கு வேண்டியது அமுதம் இதுவே!”- சுரர்;

அமுதத்தை அடைவதற்குத் தேவர்கள்!
அழகியை அணைப்பதற்கு அசுரர்கள்.

மோகினியைத் தழுவ முயன்றவர்கள்
மோஹத்தால் தமக்குள் போரிட்டனர்.

ஒருவரை ஒருவர் அடித்துக் கொண்டனர்.
ஒருவரை ஒருவர் காயப் படுத்தினர்.

அவுணர்களில் இருவர் ஏமாறவில்லை.
அவர்கள் விரும்பியதும் இனிய அமுதமே!

கள்ளத் தேவர் வடிவம் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு
மெள்ளக் கூட்டத்தில் கலந்து விட்டார்கள்.

பங்கிட்டார் அமுதத்தைத் நெடிய திருமால்;
பருகினர் அமுதத்தை விரைந்து இருவரும்.

கூரிய மதியால் இனம் கண்டுகொண்ட
சூரிய சந்திரர்கள் திடுக்கிட்டு நின்றனர்.

மெள்ளக் குறிப்பினால் திருமாலுக்குக்
கள்ளத் தேவர்களை ஜாடை காட்டிட,

சினந்த திருமால் அகப்பையால் அடிக்க
தனித்துத் துண்டாயின இருவர் தலைகளும்.

அழியவில்லை அமுதம் உண்ட தலைகள்!
அழிந்து பட்டன இருவர் உடல்களும்!

சிவனை நோக்கித் தவம் செய்தனர்,
சிறந்த கோள்களாக மாறிவிட்டனர்.

கோளுரைத்த சூரிய சந்திரர்களைக்
கோள் வடிவத்தில் மறைக்கலாயினர்.

2 (# 32 b). Vishnu’s trick.

The dazzling damsel spoke very sweetly. “You have nectar in the gold pot. You have me in front of you. Choose whatever you want and you can enjoy that.

The asuras said in unison,” We want you beautiful woman!

The suras said,” We want nothing but the nectar”

The asuras tried to embrace the Mohini and started fighting among themselves, hitting and hurting one another.

Two asuras did not fall for Vishnu’s trick. They wanted nothing but the nectar. So they transformed themselves in to devas and mingled with the other devas.

Vishnu gave the nectar to all the devas. The asuras disguised as devas drank the nectar in a great hurry. The Sun and the Moon knew that they were the disguised asuras and conveyed it to Vishnu through signs.

Vishnu hit the two asuras on their heads with a ladle and their heads came apart. Since they had tasted the nectar, their heads did not perish but their bodies perished.

They did penance to Siva and became two grahas called Rahu and Ketu. They try to hide and cover the sun and the moon causing the solar and lunar eclipses regularly.

5f. சிந்தூரன்

நிஷ்டையில் இருந்தார் பரமசிவன்;
நித்திரையில் இருந்தாள் பார்வதி.

வாயு ரூபத்தில் நுழைந்தான் கருவில்!
வளரும் சிசுவின் சிரத்தை அறுத்தான்!

வீசி எறிந்தான் விந்தியமலைச் சாரலில்;
ஆசுவாசப் படுத்திக்கொண்டான் தன்னை.

தன்னை அழிக்க உருவான கருவைத்
தானே அழித்ததாக எண்ணிக்கொண்டு!

சிரத்தைச் சிந்தூரன் எறிந்த இடம்
உருவானது மாபெரும் பள்ளமாக!

கணேச குண்டம் என்ற பெயர் பெற்றது
சோணை நதியே வழிந்தோடிய உதிரம்!

சரிந்து விழுந்த பாறைகள் பெற்றன
கரிமுக நாதனின் சுயம்பு வடிவினை

சிரம் அறுபட்டபோதும் தேவியிடம்
கரு வளர்ந்தது, அழிந்து விடவில்லை.

ஆண் மகவு பிறந்தது பார்வதிதேவிக்கு;
ஆனால் தலைப் பகுதி இருக்கவில்லை!

வருத்தம் அடைந்தாள் பார்வதிதேவி – மகன்
பெருமையை அறிந்த சிவன் பேசவில்லை.

முகம் இல்லாமல் பிறந்த குழந்தையால்
அகம் வருந்திக் கலங்கினர் தேவர்கள்

சிரம் இல்லாதவன் என்ன சாதிப்பான்?
சிரம் அன்றோ உடலுக்குப் பிரதானம்?

துயரம் தீரும் என்று இருந்தது மாறித்
துயரம் அதிகரித்து விட்டது இப்போது.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

#35f. Sindhooran

Siva was in yoga and Parvathi Devi was asleep. Sindhooran entered her womb as wind and severed the head of the fetus. He threw it on the slopes of Vindhya giri. He was happy that he had destroyed the child who was destined to destroy him.

The place where the severed head fell became a huge pit and became the Ganesa kundam. The flowing blood became the river SoNai. The rocks displaced by the head became the swayambu of Ganesa.

The fetus developed in spite of its head being severed. In due course Parvathi delivered a male child, but he did not have a head. She became very sad. But Siva who knew everything did not speak a word.

The Deva felt dejected. “How could a headless child save them from Sindhooran?’ After all head was the most important part of a body!”

Instead of infusing confidence and hope the child made then more worried and scared.

4# 21a. வியாசரின் விளக்கம் (1)

“அறிய வேண்டும் செய்த பாவம் என்னவென்று
பிறந்தவுடன் கொல்லப்பட்ட அந்தக் குழந்தை.

துர்போதனை செய்யலாகுமா நாரத முனிவர்?
துல்யம் ஆவர் பாவம் செய்பவன் செய்விப்பவன்.

தெளிவு படுத்துங்கள் எனக்கு வியாசமுனிவரே !
அளவில்லாத சோகம் ஏற்பட்டு விட்டது என்னுள்.”

“நாரத முனிவர் எப்போதும் கலகப்பிரியர்;
நாரதர் கலகம் நன்மையில் முடியும்.

தூர நின்று தூண்டி விடுபவர் அல்ல அவர்;
துணை போகின்றவர் தேவ காரியங்களுக்கு!

பாதகம் போலத் தோன்றும் அவர் செயல்கள்;
சாதகமாக முடியும் உலக மக்கள் நன்மைக்கு

பிறந்து சிறிது நேரத்தில் கொல்லப்பட்டது
பின் விளைவாகும் முன் பெற்ற சாபத்துக்கு.

இருந்தனர் ஆறு பிள்ளைகள் மரீசிக்கு.
பிறந்தனர் அவர் மனைவி ஊர்ணைக்கு.

புதல்வி மேல் மோஹம் கொண்ட பிரமனைப்
புன்னகைத்து ஏளனம் செய்தனர் இந்த அறுவர்.

கோபம் கொண்டான் பிரமன் அவர்களிடம்
சாபம் தந்தான் அசுர யோனியில் பிறந்திட.

பிறந்தனர் கால நேமியின் புதல்வர்களாக;
பிறந்தனர் ஹிரண்ய கசிபுவின் மகன்களாக.

தவம் செய்தனர் பிரமனைக் குறித்து – அவர்
தவத்தை மெச்சிக் காட்சி தந்தான் பிரமன்.

4#21a. Vyaasaa’s explanation (1)

King Janamejayan said to sage Vyaasaa,” I want to know what was the great sin committed by that jeeva to get killed soon after being born.

Naarada is a Deva rushi and yet he misguided Kamsan. In my opinion the doer of a wrong thing and the one who advocates the wrong thing are both equally guilty. I feel very upset. Kindly clarify my doubts oh guru devA!”

Sage Vyaasaa replied to the king, “Naarada likes to churn up problems and issues. But his actions always yield beneficial results to everyone. He is not the type who provokes from a distance just to create problems.

He does certain things to help the God’s plans to take effect. His actions may at times appear to be shocking but always they are for the benefit of the human beings.

The Child got killed due to a curse incurred by it in its previous births. Mareechi had six sons born to his wife OorNai. These boys made fun of Brahma, when he fell in love with his own daughter Saraswati Devi – whom he had created.

Brahma became angry and cursed them to be born in the race of asuras. They were born as the sons of Kaalanemi. They were born as the sons of HiraNyan.

They did severe penance on Brahma and Brahma gave his darshan pleased with their penance.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

32c ஹரியும், ஹரனும்.


லோகத்தை மயக்கிய திருமாலின் அழகிய
மோகினி அவதாரத்தைக் காண விழைந்த,

ஈசனுக்குக் காட்சி தந்தார் திருமால்
ஆசையை வளர்க்கும் மோகினியாக.

காம வயப் பட்ட சிவன் கையைப் பற்ற,
காம விகாரத்தை பெருக்க மோகினி ஓட,

நாவலந்தீவினில் தேவனும், தேவியும்
சால மரத்தின் கீழ் கூடி ஒன்றாயினர்.

ஒன்றி அவர்கள் கூடிய காலத்தில்
கண்டகியாயிற்று கான்றுமிழ்ந்த நீர்.

பொன் வண்ண வஜ்ரதந்திப் புழுக்கள்
தோன்றின ஆழிக்குறியுடன் நதியில்.

கூடுகளைச் செய்தன ஆற்று மண்ணால்.
கூடுகளில் வாழ்ந்து பின்னர் மடிந்தன.

கூடுகளிலும் தோன்றின ஆழிக் குறிகள்.
கூடுகள் ஒதுங்கின ஆற்றின் கரையில்.

ஆழிக் குறிகளை இனம் கண்டு பிரித்து
ஆழியோனை, ஈசனை வழிபடலாயினர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

 2 (# 32c). Hari and Haran.

Siva wanted to see the Mohini avatar of Vishnu. Vishnu appeared again as Mohini. Siva fell love with the beautiful woman and caught hold of her hand.

She ran away with Siva in hot pursuit. Their union took place in the Jambu dweep under the giant Saala tree. Their union brought into existence the river Kandagi.

There were vajradanthi worms in the river water which had the designs of the chakram.They built nests with the river mud and those designs formed on thOSe shells also.

When the worms died, the empty shells were deposited on the river banks. The people could classify them depending on their designs and patterns and used them to worship Siva as well Vishnu.
