3#15c. மஹாபலி

தொடர்ந்து பேசினாள் மனோரமை – தனக்கு
இடம் அளித்திருந்த பரத்வாஜ முனிவரிடம்.

“விரோசன மன்னன் பிரஹலாதனின் மகன்;
விரோசனின் மகன் மஹாபலிச் சக்கரவர்த்தி.

பெருமை பெற்றவன், கொடை வள்ளல்;
தரும சீலன், பூ மண்டலத்தின் சக்கரவர்த்தி.

தொண்ணூற்று ஒன்பது யாகங்கள் செய்தான்;
தொடங்கினான் நூறாவது யாகம் புரிவதற்கு.

பகைமை இல்லை விஷ்ணுவுக்கு பலி மேல்;
பாழ் செய்தது ஏன் பலியின் யாகத்தினை?

குறு வடிவம் எடுத்துச் சென்றார் யாகசாலைக்கு.
தருமாறு கோரினார் தன் காலால் மூன்றடி மண்.

பெருவடிவால் அளந்தார் விண்ணை; மண்ணை!
திருவடியால் அனுப்பினார் பலியைப் பாதாளம்!

கள்ளத்தனம் செய்தார் விஷ்ணு பிரான்!
கள்ளத்தனம் செய்யாதவர் யார் உளர்?

பேராசை மிகுந்தவன் மன்னன் யுதாஜித்!
பேதை என்னைக் கைவிட்டு விடாதீர்கள்!”

வந்து விட்டான் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு யுதாஜித் – அங்கு
வரவில்லை மனோரமை எனச் சாதித்தார் பரத்வாஜர்.

“நீரே அவளை அனுப்புகின்றீரா? வலிமையால்
நானே அவளைக் கவர்ந்து செல்லவா?” என்றான்.

“வசிஷ்டரின் பசுவை விஸ்வாமித்திரர் செய்தாற்போல்
வலிமை இருந்தால் கவர்ந்து செல்!” என்றார் முனிவர்.

3#15c. Mahaa Bali

Manorama continued talking to sage Bharatwaaj, who had given protection to her son Sudarshan and herself. “Virochanan was the son of Prahlaad. Virochanan’s valorous son was Mahaa Bali. He was as famous as he was valorous. He was a great king known for his generosity and good nature.

He had performed ninety nine yagnaas. When he started to perform his hundredth yagnaa, Vishnu went to him as Vaamana to spoil the yagna.

Vishnu had no enmity towards Bali and yet he ruined the yaagam by unfair means. He went to the yaaga saalaa as a young brahmachaari begging for three feet of land, measured with his own feet.

He grew up to the heavens and measured the heaven and the earth with his two steps. With the third step he pushed Mahaa Bali to Paataala logam. He played a trick to achieve his aim.

Who does not cheat in order to get what he wants? Yudaajit is a greedy king. Please do not forsake me oh sire!” She pleaded to sage Bharatwaaj.

Yudaajit reached sage Bharatwaaj’s ashram demanding that queen Manorama and her son prince Sudarsanan be handed over to him immediately. Sage Bharatwaaj swore that the queen and the prince were not there.

Then Yudaajit gave an ultimatum and said, “Will you hand over them to me or shall I capture them with my own might?”

The sage was unruffled and replied. “If it is within your power, you may capture them just as Viswaamitra captured Sage Vasishta’s cow”

14c. கிருச்சதமர்

பிறப்பைப்பற்றி அத்ரி கூறிய செய்தி
வியப்பை அளித்தது முனிவர்களுக்கு.

சிறப்பை குறைத்துவிட்டது நொடியில்;
வெறுப்பைத் தோற்றுவித்தது சபையில்.

அவமானம் அடைந்தார் கிருச்சதமர்.
ஆவேசத்துடன் சூளுரைத்தார் அவையில்.

“முனிவர்கள் சபையில் எனக்குத் தலை
குனிவை ஏற்படுத்திய அத்ரி மகரிஷியே!

கவி முனிவன் மகன் தான் நான் எனில்
புவி மேல் வெல்வேன் வாதப் போரில்.”

வெளியேறிவர் சென்றார் நேராகத் தான்
தெளிவடையத் தாய் முகுந்தையிடம்.

“அன்னையே மெய் கூறுவீர் எனக்கு!
உண்மையில் என் தந்தை யார் என்று!”

ருத்திரமூர்த்தி போல நின்ற அவனிடம்
பத்தினி வேடம் போட முடியவில்லை!

“ருக்மாங்கத மன்னன் நீர் வேட்கையால்
இக்குடிலுக்கு வந்தார் முன்பொரு நாள்.

மன்மதன் அவன் மேல் மையல் கொண்டு
துன்புற்றேன் நான் விரக தாபத்தால்!

கருணை கொண்டு மீண்டும் வந்தார்.
அருகினில் அழைத்து மகிழ்வித்தார்.

பிறந்தாய் நீ எம் அன்பின் சின்னமாக.
சிறந்த அரசனே ஆவர் உன் தந்தை!”

எரியும் கொள்ளியில் எண்ணை ஊற்றப்
பெருகின சினமும், பெருத்த அவமானமும்!

“பறவைகள் கூட விரும்பாத இலந்தை
மரமாகி நிற்பாய் நீயும் கானகத்தில்!”

சாபம் இட்டான் மகன் என்றதும் எதிர்
சாபம் இட்டாள் அவன் அன்னையும்.

“கண்டால் மனம் நடுங்கும் கொடியவன்
உண்டாகட்டும் உனக்கு ஒரு மகனாக!”

14c. Krichchadamar

The words suddenly spoken by sage Atri left the rushis shocked beyond words. Krichchadamar fell in their eyes very low. Kruchchadamar felt deeply insulted in the gathering.

He took an oath immediately,“If I am the son of sage Kavi, I will still win over everyone of you in the debate.” He left in a huff and went straight to his mother Mukundai for clarification.

He asked her,”Mother tell me the truth now. Who is my real father?” Mukundai could tell a lie after seeing her son standing menacingly like Rudran himself.

She told the incident as to how the Kings Rukmaangathan came to her hut for drinking water; how she fell in love with him; how he walked away first and later returned to her. She said,”You are the fruit of my love to the king Rukmaangathan.”

Kruchchadamar became even more angry on hearing this. He cursed his mother,”May you become a thorny bear tree – the fruits of which even the birds will not wish to eat!”

She too got angry with him and counter-cursed him, “May you get a son who is terrible beyond words”

10a. திருமணம்.

உமையை மணந்திட உள்ளம் கனிந்தார்.
இமயத்தில் எழுந்தருளத் தருணம் இது.

முன்னே நந்திதேவன் புகழ்ந்தபடிச் செல்ல,
பின்னே முனிவர்கள் வாழ்த்தியபடி வர,

தும்புரு, நாரதர் இன்னிசை பாடிவர,
தம் விடை மீது ஆரோஹணித்தார் ஈசன்.

ஆனைமுகன் கணங்களோடு முன்னே செல்ல,
அன்புடன் சூரிய, சந்திரர்கள் குடைகள் பிடிக்க,

காற்றுக்கு இறைவன் வெண் சாமரம் வீசிட,
சுற்றினான் இந்திரன் அன்புடன் ஆலவட்டம்!

இமயத்தை அடைந்துவிட்டது மணமகன் குழு,
உமையின் மணவேளை நெருங்கியே விட்டது!

மலையரசன் நின்றான் சுற்றம் புடை சூழ.
மலர்ந்த முகத்துடன் அழைத்துச் சென்றான்.

மறை முனிவர்கள் பூர்ணகும்பங்களுடன் வர,
மங்கலப் பெண்டிர் அஷ்ட மங்களங்களுடன்;

ஊர்வலம் அடைந்தது மண மண்டபத்தை;
ஊர்திகளிலிருந்து இறங்கினர் அனைவரும்.

பாலாலே கால் அலம்பினாள் மோனாதேவி.
பட்டாலே துடைத்துப் பாதுகை அளித்தனர்.

திருமாலும், நான்முகனும் கை கொடுக்க,
திருமண மண்டபத்தை அடைந்தான் ஈசன்.

இந்திர நீலமணி இழைத்த அரியணையில்
இந்துவை அணிந்த நாதன் எழுந்தருள,

தத்தம் இருக்கையில் அமர்ந்தனர் அவனை
நித்தம் துதிக்கும் தேவர்களின் குழாம்.

எல்லோரும் ஓரிடத்தில் வந்து குழுமவே,
கல்மலையும் நடுங்கி நிலை குலைந்தது.

வடபுலம் தாழ்ந்து, தென்புலம் உயர்ந்தது.
வருந்தி ஓலமிட்டனர் தேவரும், மனிதரும்.

விரைந்து நிலவுலகைச் சமன் செய்யவேண்டி
குறுமுனியைத் தம்பால் வரவழைத்தான் ஈசன்.

1. (#10 a) THE WEDDING

Siva thought it was time to go to Himalayas to wed Uma. Nandhi led the group singing the praise of lord. Rushis spoke auspicious words and followed him. Thumburu and Narada sang sweet songs. Siva sat on Nandhi.

Vinayaka led the procession with his gaNas. The Sun and the Moon held the umbrellas for the lord. Vayu set fresh air in motion with his chaamaram. Indra did the aalavattam. The whole group reached Himalayas.

Himavaan was waiting to welcome the group with his kin and kith. Rushis welcomed the group with poorNa kumbham.

Sumangalis came carrying the ashta mangalam. The procession reached the wedding mandapam. Every one got down from their vaahanas.

Mona Devi washed Siva’s feet with milk and dried them with silk. Siva got new paada rakshai. He reached the mandapam in the company of Brahma and Vishnu. Siva sat on the throne studded with blue sapphires and all the others took their seats.

Since everybody assembled in one spot the equilibrium of the earth was upset. The north dipped and the South rose up.

Everyone got frightened and it was now left to Siva to restore the balance of the earth. He called sage Agasthya and spoke to him thus.

3#16a. காமதேனு

புத்தி வரவில்லை இதைக் கேட்டதும் யுதாஜித்துக்கு.
யுக்தியை ஆராய்ந்தான் மனோரமையைக் கவர்ந்திட.

அமைச்சர்களைக் கலந்து ஆலோசித்தான் – “முனிவர்
அமைதியாக ஒப்படைக்கமாட்டார் அவ்விருவரையும்.

பலவந்தமாகக் கவர்ந்து செல்ல வேண்டும் நாம்
பலவீனமான எதிரி இருப்பதும் கூட ஆபத்து.

அநாதை இளவரசன் சுதர்சனனை ஒழித்தால்
அனாயாசமாக அரசாள்வான் என் சத்ருஜித்!”

அறிந்து கொண்டனர் அமைச்சர்கள் – அரசன்
அறிந்திலன் விசுவாமித்திர முனிவரின் கதையை.

அளவற்ற ஆத்மபலம் பெற்றவர்கள் முனிவர்கள்.
விளக்கினர் இதை யுதாஜித்துக்கு விளங்கும்படி.

“பூர்வத்தில் விசுவாமித்திரர் மிகப் பெரிய வேந்தன்;
ஆர்வத்துடன் அடைந்தார் வசிஷ்டரின் ஆசிரமத்தை.

விருந்து அளித்தார் வசிஷ்டர் மன்னனின் சேனைக்கு,
விரும்பிய உணவைக் காமதேனுவின் உதவியுடன்!

கண்டதை கைக் கொள்வது மன்னருக்கு எளிது!
வேண்டும் காமதேனுப் பசு தனக்கே இனிமேல்!

“ஆயிரம் பசுக்களைத் தருகின்றேன் வசிஷ்டரே!
அற்புதக் காமதேனுவுக்கு ஈடாக உமக்கு நான்!”

“ஹோம யாகங்களுக்கு உதவிடும் பசு இது!
காமதேனுவைப் பிரிய சம்மதியேன் நான்!”

“ஆயிரம் பசுக்கள் போதாதோ உமக்கு?
ஆயிரம் ஆயிரம் பசுக்களைத் தருவேன்!

தந்துவிடுங்கள் காமதேனுவை எனக்கு – நான்
இந்தப் பசு இன்றிச் செல்லேன் இங்கிருந்து”

“மனப் பூர்வமாகத் தரவே மாட்டேன் பசுவை;
முடிந்தால் முனைந்து கவர்ந்து செல் மன்னா!”

14d. கிருச்சதமர்

“முனி குமாரன்என நினைத்திருந்தேன் நான்;
பனி போல மறைந்துவிட்டது அந்த நினைவு!

பிறப்பின் ரஹசியம் வெளிப்பட்டு விட்டது !
இறப்பதே மேல்! இத்தகைய வாழ்க்கை எதற்கு?

மானம் நீங்கிய பின் உயிர் எதற்கு – அவமானம்
மரணத்திலும் கொடியது அல்லவா மனிதருக்கு?

சரீரத்தைத் துறந்துவிடுகின்றேன் நானே” என்று
பரிதாப முடிவெடுத்தார் முனிவர் கிருச்சதமர்.

அசரீரி கேட்டது ஆகாயத்திலிருந்து அப்போது!
“அவசரப்படாதே உண்மையில் நீ இந்திரன் மகன்”

கேலி செய்த முனிவர்களை மீண்டும் தன்னைத்
தேடி வந்து வணங்கிடச் செய்திட வேண்டும்!

“வனம் சென்று தவம் செய்து பெறுவேன் நான்
வலம் வந்து வணங்கச் செய்யும் சக்தியினை.”

கானகம் சென்றடைந்தார் கிருச்சதமர் – அன்ன
பானம் நீக்கிக் கோரத் தவம் செய்தார் அங்கே.

பதினாயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் ஓடி மறைந்தன!
பத்துக் கைகளுடனும், வேழ முகத்துடனும்,

சித்தி , புத்தி தேவிகள் சமேதரராக கணபதி
சிங்க வாகனத்தில் காட்சி தந்தருளினார்.

கோடி சூரியர்களின் பிரகாசத்தினால் கூசி
மூடிக் கொண்டு விட்டன அவர் புறக் கண்கள்.

“பிரகாசத்தால் ஒளி இழந்தன புறக்கண்கள்
பிரபுவே அளியுங்கள் எனக்கு அகக் கண்கள்”

அகக் கண்கள் குளிரக் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தார்
அன்பனுக்கு அன்பன் ஆனைமுக நாதனை.

சிற்றின்பத்தைத் துறந்துவிட்டு உம் பக்தியால்
பேரின்பம் அடையும் பேறு அருள்வீர் ஐயனே!”

14d. Kruchchadamar

“I was under the impression that I was the son of a sage. But now that thought has disappeared like a dew drop in the sunlight. The truth about my birth has been publicized in a gathering by Atri.

Why should I continue to live? This kind of life is worse than death. I will end my life” Kruchchadamar made up his mind to end his life.

Just then an aakaashvaani said, “Do not be in a hurry. You are the son of Indra” This was a pleasant and surprising news to him. He forgot his sorrow ans shame.

He said to himself, “I will make the same rushis who ridiculed me come to me and pay their obeisance.” He left for doing penance. He did severe penance for ten thousand years without food, water and sleep.

Vinayaka was pleased with his penance and appeared in front of him accompanied by Siddhi Devi and Buddhi Devi on a Simha-vaahanam.

He had ten hands, the lovely elephant face and the brilliance of ten million suns shining together. The light was so brilliant that Kruchchadamar felt blinded by it and begged for Gnana-sakshu to look at God to his contentment.

He saw God to his heart’s content and prayed thus: “I must give up all worldly pleasures and get liberated from samsaara by your grace Oh lord!”

10b. அகத்தியர்

“குறுமுனிவரே! ஓருதவி செய்வீரா?
மறுமொழி கூறி இதை மறுத்திடாமல்?

வடதிசை தாழ்ந்து தென்திசை உயர்ந்து,
நடுங்குகின்றது நிலைதடுமாறி நிலவுலகு!

பொதியமலை மீது சென்று இருப்பீர் நீர்,
கதிகலங்கிய நிலத்தைச் சமன் செய்திட.”

“அன்னையின் திருமணத்தை காணவிடாது
என்னைப் போகச் சொல்கின்றீர்களா?

நான் செய்த பாதகம் தான் என்ன கூறும்!
என் கண் பெற்ற பயனை அடைவேனோ?”

“எதை எதை யாரால் செய்ய முடியுமோ
அதை அதை அவரே செய்யவேண்டும்.

மூர்த்தி சிறிதெனினும் கீர்த்தி பெரியது!
பார்த்துவிட்டு நான் உம்மை அணுகினேன்.”

“தேவர்களையும் விட்டு என்னைப் பணித்தீர்.
தேவாதிதேவன் உம் மணத்தைக் கண்களால்

காணாமல் இருக்க மனம் ஒப்பவில்லை!
வாணாளை வீணாள் ஆக்குவது எங்ஙனம்?”

“பொதிய மலைக்குச் செல்வீர் நீவீர்!
அதிசயத் திருமணக் கோலத்தை அங்கேயே

தரிசிக்கச் செய்வேன் கவலை வேண்டாம்.
அரியவரே! சமன் செய்வீர் நிலவுலகை!”

தேவதேவனை வணங்கிய அகத்தியர்
வேகமாக அடைந்தார் பொதிகையை.

முன்போலவே உலகு சமநிலை அடைய,
மன்னுயிர்கள் எல்லாம் நிம்மதி அடைந்தன.

1 (# 10.b). RESTORING THE EARTH’S BALANCE.

“Agasthya! I seek a help from you! Please do not refuse to do it. The north has dipped and the south has risen.

The earth has lost her balance.The entire creation is frightened. You must go to Podigai in the south and restore the balance of the earth”.

“Lord every one has gathered here to witness the divine wedding. You want to send me away! What is the crime I have committed. Why am I denied the very purpose of possessing my eyesight?”

“We must get the things done by the persons capable of doing them. You are small in stature but big in powers. Only you can restore the balance of the earth”

“Lord, you have asked me to help you - brushing away even the Devas. But the thought that I will miss your wedding makes me feel very sad.

“Do not worry. I will give you a darshan of my wedding with Uma on Podhigai itself. Do not worry but please do hurry?”

Agasthya left for Pothigai. The balance of the earth was restored. The Devas and manushyas heaved a sigh of relief.

3#16b. விஸ்வாமித்திரர்

பலவான்களாகிய தானைத் தலைவரைப் பணித்தான்,
“பலவந்தமாகக் கவர்ந்து செல்லுங்கள் பசுவை” என்று.

தெய்வப் பசு என்று தெரியவில்லை வீரர்களுக்கு.
கையால் பற்றி இழுக்கத் தொடங்கினர் பசுவை.

நடுங்கியது காமதேனுவின் உடல் அச்சத்தால்;
நடுங்கியது காமதேனுவின் குரல் அச்சத்தால்.

“என்னைக் கைவிட்டு விடாதீர்கள் தவமுனிவரே!”
“உன்னைக் கைவிட முடியுமா கூறு காமதேனுவே!

உபசாரம் செய்தேன் விருந்துணவு படைத்து!
அபசாரம் செய்கின்றான் பிரதி உபகாரமாக!

உன்னால் காத்துக் கொள்ள முடியும் உன்னை!
உன்னால் முடியாதது எது என்று கூறு!” என்றார்.

அச்சம் நீங்கிக் காமதேனு ஹூங்காரமிட – ஓர்
அச்சம் தரும் படை தோன்றியது அதனிடமிருந்து.

ஆயுதம் ஏந்திய அந்தப் படை வீரர்கள்
பாய்ந்தனர் அரசனின் படையினர் மீது.

உணர்ந்தான் கௌசிகன் புஜ வலிமையை விட
உண்மையில் தவ வலிமை சிறந்தது என்பதை.

திரும்பிச் செல்லவில்லை தன் நாட்டுக்கு.
விரும்பினான் பிரம்மன் தேஜசைப் பெற.

கடும் தவம் புரிந்தான் நெடுங்காலம்
அடைந்தான் இறுதியில் தவவலிமை.

முனிவரைப் பகைப்பது இனிமை பயக்காது
முனிவரின் கோபம் விளைவிக்கும் சாபம்.

பொன், பொருள், இல்லாத வெறும் சிறுவன்
மண்ணாளும் வாய்ப்பில்லை அன்றோ அரசே!

பலவீனமான சிறுவனை பகையாளி என்று
பலி கொடுப்பது ஆண்மையற்ற செயல்!”

ஏற்றான் அமைச்சர்களின் ஆலோசனையை.
போற்றி விடை பெற்றான் பரத்வாஜரிடம்.

3#16b. Viswamitra

King Kousika ordered his army men to take away the cow Kaamadhenu by force. Those men dd not know that it was a divine cow and applied sheer force and tried to take it away.

Kaamadhenu got terrified and spoke to the sage Vasishta in a trembling voice, “Oh sage! Please protect me. Do not forsake me!”

Vasishta replied, “How can I forsake you Kaamadhenu? I did a service to the king by feeding him and his army. He is returning the favor in this ungrateful manner. I am sure you have the power to protect yourself. You can do anything you want to do. You know that”

Kaamadhenu overcame it fear and did a loud hoonkaaram. A terrible army of soldiers emerged from the cow. These soldiers were armed and brave. They fought the army of King Kousika and defeated them.

Kousika realized the power of penance and decided to earn as much of it as he wanted to. He did not go back to his kingdom but went instead to do penance.

After many disturbances and distractions he finally achieved Brahma tejas by his penance. So do not underestimate the power of the sages looking so humble and simple.”

Yudaajit listened to the words of wisdom of his ministers. He took leave of sage Bharatwaaj and returned to his country.

15. பலி என்னும் மகன்

பிரணவ ஸ்வரூபனின் பக்தர் கிருச்சதமர்
பிரபஞ்சம் முழுவதும் பரவியது அவர் புகழ்;

பழித்து எள்ளி நகையாடிய முனிவர்கள்
பணிந்து, வணங்கிக் கௌரவித்தனர்.

சிறிது காலத்துக்குள்ளாகவே அவர் இன்றி
அரிது நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடப்பது என்றானது.

தியானத்தில் வெகுநேரம் அமர்ந்திருந்தார்
திறந்த கண்களில் இருந்து வீசியது யோகத்
தீ!

பார்வை தீட்சண்யத்திலிருந்து பிறந்தான்
பார்த்தவர்கள் அஞ்சும் அரக்கன் ஒருவன்.

நடு நடுங்கினார் கிருச்சதமர் அச்சத்தால்
விடுத்தார் அச்சத்தை விநாயகனை எண்ணி!

“யார் நீ?” வினவினார் அசுரனிடம் அவர்.
“பார்வையில் தோன்றிய மைந்தன் பலி.

வெல்ல வேண்டும் மூவுலகங்களைப் போரில்.
சொல்லவேண்டும் நீர் அதற்கான உபயம்” என,

“வினாயக மந்திரத்தை உபதேசிக்கின்றேன்
விக்னங்களை அகற்றி வெற்றி அளிப்பான்.”

மந்திர உபதேசம் பெற்றான் பெற்றான் பலி
மனத்தினை அடக்கி மாதவம் செய்தான்.

தவத்தை மெச்சிக் காட்சி தந்தார் கணபதி.
தவத்தின் பயங்களாகப் பெற்றான் வரங்களை.

“மூவுலகங்களையுன் நான் வெல்ல வேண்டும்
ஏவல் செய்து தேவர்கள் பணிய வேண்டும்”

“மூவலகங்களையும் அடிமை கொள்வாய்
மூன்று உலோகக் கோட்டைகள் தந்தேன்

கரும்பொற் கோட்டை, வெண்பொற் கோட்டை
செம்பொற் கோட்டைகளைப் பெறுவாய் நீ!

அரிது அரிது இவற்றை வெற்றி கொள்வது
அரனார் சிவனாரைத் தவிர மற்றவர்களுக்கு”.

#15. Bali the son

Kruchchadamar was a devotee of Vinayaka and his fame spread far and wide very soon. No auspicious event took place without involving him. The rushis who had ridiculed him came to him and honored him.

One day he sat in DhyAnam for a very long time. When he opened his eyes, yoga Agni came out of his eyes. A terrifying asuran emerged from it. Kruchchadamar was startled to see him suddenly. He demanded to know who he was!

The asuran replied, “I am your son Bali, born out of the yoga shakti emerging from your eyes. I want to conquer the three worlds. Please tell me how to go about it”

Kruchchadamar replied, “Son! I will teach you the Vinayaka mantram. He is the God of victory and you shall achieve your ambition. Bali learned the manta from his father. He did severe penance concentrating on Vinayaka.

Ganapthy was pleased with his penance and appeared before him. He asked for these boons from Vinayaka. “I must conquer all the three worlds. The Deva must obey me and serve me well. “

“You shall conquer the three worlds. I will give you three metal forts made of iron, silver and Gold. No one can overpower them except Lord Siva.”

10c. திருமணம்.

தேவமாதர்கள் அழைத்து வந்தனர் உமையை,
ஏவல் செய்த இமவான் கட்டளைக்கிணங்கி.

காவலுக்குக் காளி; அடைப்பை ஏந்த இந்திராணி;
சாமரம் வீச கங்கை; கைலாகு கொடுக்க இலக்குமி;

அடைந்தாள் அழகிய பொன் மணமேடையை.
புகழ்ந்தாள் வீணை மீட்டிப் பாடிய கலைவாணி.

பணிந்து எழுந்த உமையை பரிவுடன்
பணித்தார் ஈசன் அருகில் அமரும்படி;

மோனை நீர் ஊற்ற, மலைஅரசன் பாதபூஜை
மணக்கும் மலர்கள், சந்தனத்தால் செய்தான்.

உமையின் தளிர்க்கரங்களை வைத்தான்
இமவான் சிவபெருமான் திருக்கரங்களில்!

தாரை வார்த்துச் செய்தான் கன்னியை தானம்;
அரம்பையர் ஆடினார், கந்தருவர் பாடினர்;

மறை மொழிகள் பயின்றனர் முனிவர்கள்.
மங்கலம் பாடினர் அலைமகள், கலைமகள்,

பல இசைக் கருவிகளை ஒலித்தன பூதங்கள்.
அலைகடல் ஓசையை வென்றது இன்னிசை.

முக்கனிகள், பால், நெய், தேன் இவற்றை
முக்கண்ணனுக்கு அளித்தார் இமவான்.

1 (# 10 c). THE WEDDING.

The wives of the Devas led Uma to the wedding mandapam, as ordered by Himavaan. Kali was guarding the bride. IndrAni carried the betel bag, Ganga fanned with chAmaram, Lakshmi Devi accompanied Uma. Saraswathi Devi sang songs of praise.

Uma touched Siva’s feet with reverence. Siva told her to sit beside Him on the throne.
Mona Devi brought the things needed for Siva’s pAda poojai.

HimavAn washed the groom’s feet, applied sandal paste on it and and placed flowers.

Himavaan placed Uma’s lotus-soft hands in Siva’s hands and offered her in kanyA dAn.

The ApsarAs danced , gandharvAs sang, Rushis chanted vedas, Lakshmi and Saraswathi sang auspicious songs.

Bootha gaNas played on several musical instruments in unison.

HimavAn offered mango, banana, jack fruit along with milk, honey and ghee to the Lord.

3#16c. பீஜாக்ஷரம்

மனோரமை வாழ்ந்தாள் பரத்வாஜர் ஆசிரமத்தில்;
மகன் சுதர்சனனுக்கு ஆகிவிட்டது அகவை ஐந்து.

விளையாடும் முனிகுமாரன் அழைத்தான் உரக்க,
“ஏ க்லீபனே! இங்கு வா!’ என்று தன் நண்பனை.

க்லீம் என்பது தேவியின் காம பீஜாக்ஷரம்;
க்லீம் என்பதை உச்சரித்தான் சுதர்சனன்.

பூர்வபுண்ணியம் பெருகத் தொடங்கி விட்டது!
ஆர்வத்துடன் உச்சரித்தான் ஆறு ஆண்டுகள்!

உபநயனம் செய்வித்தார் பரத்வாஜர் – தானே
உபதேசித்தார் அனைத்து சாஸ்திரங்களையும்.

மந்திர பலத்தினால் விரைவாகக் கற்றான்;
எந்த சாஸ்திரத்தையும் எளிதாகக் கற்றான்!

தோன்றினாள் தேவி தன் கருட வாகனத்தில்;
தோன்றினாள் தேவி லக்ஷ்மியின் வடிவத்தில்.

சிவந்த நிறத்துடன், சிவந்த ஆடை அணிந்து,
சிவந்த ஆபரணங்களுடன் சிவந்த மலர்கள் சூட்டி.

தந்தாள் வில்லும் அம்புகளும் அவனுக்கு;
தந்தாள் வஜ்ஜிர கவசத்தையும் அவனுக்கு!

சென்றனர் காசி ராஜனின் தூதுவர் அவ்வழியே;
நின்றனர் தம்மை மறந்து, அவன் வடிவழகில்!

பூரண சந்திர முகம் கொண்ட இளவரசியிடம்
வர்ணித்தனர் தாம் கண்ட குமாரனைக் குறித்து.

காசி ராஜனின் மகள் கன்னி சசிகலை – அந்தக்
காமதேவனின் வர்ணனையில் மயங்கினாள்.

வரித்தாள் அவனைத் தன் கணவனாக;
தவித்தாள் மன்மத பாணங்கள் தாக்கியதால்!

தேவி தோன்றினாள் சசிகலையின் கனவில்;
தேவி கூறினாள், “சுதர்சனன் என் பக்தன்!

மணந்து கொள்வாய் நீ அவனை விரும்பி;
மனம் விரும்புவதையெல்லாம் அடைவாய்!”

மகிழ்ச்சிக் கடலில் மிதந்தாள் சசிகலை – கனவை
நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறினாள் உயிர்த் தோழியிடம்.

3#16c. BheejAksharam

Queen Manorama and Prince Sudarsanan lived under the care of Sage BhatarwAj. The boy became five years old. One day when the sons of the rushis were playing, one of them called out loudly his friend “Hey KLeeba! Come here!”

The word appealed to Sudarsanan. Kleem is the Kaamaa Bheeja Aksharm of Devi. He kept repeating that beeja aksharam playfully. His poorva-janma-puNyam started growing fast. He kept chanting the mantra for six long years.

Sage BharatwAj performed his upanayanam and taught him all the sAstrAs. He learned them very easily and quickly due the effect of the mantra japam.

One day Devi appeared before him in the form of Lakshmi Devi on her Garuda Vaahanam. She was very fair and wore red silk, red flowers and red colored ornaments. She blessed the young prince Sudarsanan and presented him with a bow and arrows. She gave him a vajra kavacham (a diamond armor) to protect him.

The prince was a now a very handsome lad – well versed in all the sAstrAs and very devoted to Devi. The messengers of the King of Kaasi passed by. They were duly impressed by the beauty and knowledge of the young prince in vanavAsam.

They went back and described about this handsome prince to their young princess Sasikala. She fell head over hells in love with the prince – whom she had yet set her eyes on.

Devi appeared in Sasikala’s dream and said, “Prince Sudarsanan is my ardent devotee. You will marry him and you will get everything you desire to have. Sasikala was happy with this dream and shared it with her closest friend with a great emotion.

16a. திரிபுரன்

விரைவிலேயே பூவுலகை வென்றான்
விநாயகர் அருள் பெற்ற அரக்கன் பலி.

அஞ்சினர் பலியின் வலிமை கண்டவர்;
தஞ்சம் புகுந்தனர் அவன் பாதுகாப்பில்.

பாதாளலோகம் சென்றான் அரக்கன் பலி;
பாதாளம் பணிந்தது எதிர்ப்பு ஏதுமின்றி.

அசுரர்களின் அரசனாக அரக்கன் பலியை
ஒருமனதாகத் தேர்வு செய்தது அரக்ககுலம்.

இந்திரலோகம் பலியின் அடுத்த இலக்கானது;
இந்திரனையும் வென்றால் ஆளலாம் மூவுலகு!

தூதர்களை அனுப்பினான் பலி இந்திரனிடம்;
தூதர்கள் சென்று செப்பினர் தூது மொழிகள்,

“ஏதும் எதிர்ப்பு இன்றிப் பணிந்துவிட்டால்
சேதம் இன்றித் தப்பி பிழைக்கலாம் தேவர்,

பேதப் பட்டு எதிர்த்துப் போரிட்டால் பலி
ஊதித் தள்ளிவிடுவான் உம் தேவர்களை!”

இந்திரனின் கண்கள் சிவந்து போயின.
“இந்திரன் பணிய மாட்டான் பலிக்கு !

யுத்தம் தேவை என்றால் நான் தயார்-ஆ
யத்தம் செய்யுங்கள் உங்கள் படைகளை.”

தோல்வி அடைந்து விட்டது தூது என்று
கேள்விப்பட்டவுடன் பொங்கியது சினம்!

போருக்குத் தயார் ஆயினர் சுர, அசுரர்.
போர் துவங்கியது; படைகள் மோதின;

யானையோடு யானை மோதிக்கொள்ள,
சேனையில் குளம்பொலிகள் கேட்டன.

அம்புகள் கொய்த தலைகள் பறந்தன
அம்புவி அதிர்ந்தது ஆயுத மோதலால்!
