1 # (4c). RATHI’S SORROW

Manmathan entered into Siva’s presence. He saw Siva in yoga and shuddered like a lion cub at the sight of the mythological bird sarabam.

He remembered his mission and his promise to Brahma. The Devas were watching the happenings with deep interest. Manmathan shot the flower arrows on Siva.

The moment the flowers touched His body, Siva opened His eyes slightly. Manmathan got burned to ashes by a spark from Siva’s eyes. Siva went back to his yoga.

Rathi’s sorrow knew no bounds! She cried in a heartrending manner,
“Dear husband! The pet son of Lakshmi Devi, The son of mahaa Vishnu! The wielder of sugarcane bow and the most beautiful and dutiful of all the Devas!

Brahma conspired your death. The Deva used you and sacrificed you. I will not live without you! Have the hearts of the Devas turned into stones? Is there no one to beg for your resurrection?"

3#12b. தேவி தந்த வரங்கள்

உண்டாக்கினார் மஹா விஷ்ணு – வை
குண்டத்தைத் தன் லீலைகளுக்காக!

உண்டாக்கினார் ருத்திரர் கைலாசத்தை;
உமை, சிவகணங்ககளுடன் அமைந்தார்!

அமைந்தது சுவர்க்கம் இந்திரனுக்கு;
அமைந்தன அதில் பல அற்புதங்கள்!

ஐராவதம், உச்சைஸ்ரவம், காமதேனுவோடு
பாரிஜாதம், அப்சரஸ், தன்வந்திரி, சந்திரன்!

தோன்றின மூன்று வேறு இனங்கள்!
தோன்றினர் தேவர், மனிதர், திரியக்!

தோன்றின அனைத்து ஜீவராசிகளும்!
தோன்றின நான்கு யோனிகளிலிருந்து!

விஷ்ணு தியானித்தார் தேவி திருவடிகளை
விஷ்ணு முனைந்தார் தேவி யக்ஞம் புரிய.

தேவர்கள், முனிவர்களை அழைத்தார்
சேகரித்தார் ஹோம திரவியங்களை.

அமைத்தார் விசாலமான யாகசாலையை.
அழைத்தார் விசேஷமான ரிக்வித்துக்களை!

பீஜாக்ஷரங்களுடன் தொடங்கியது ஜபம்
பிராமணர் செய்தனர் அவிசுடன் ஹோமம்.

ஒலித்தது ஓங்கி அசரீரி விண்ணிலிருந்து.
அளித்தது விஷ்ணுவுக்கு பல சிறப்புகளை.

“வணங்கத் தக்கவனாக, பக்திக்கு இலக்காக;
வரம் தருபவனாக, ஐஸ்வர்யம் உடையவனாக,

ஆனந்தம் தருபவனாக, அபயம் அளிப்பவனாக,
அறத்தை நிலை நாட்டுபவனாக விளங்குவாய்!

கலந்திருக்கும் உன் அவதாரங்களில் என் சக்தி;
கடை விலங்கான போதும் கிடைக்கும் புகழ்!

நான் தரும் வரங்கள் இவை உனக்கு! பக்தியோடு
நானிலம் பூஜிக்க வேண்டும் என் அம்சங்களை”

யக்ஞம் நடந்து முடிந்தது இனிதாக;
யாவரும் திரும்பினர் தம் இருப்பிடம்.

3#12b. The Boons given by Devi

Mahaa VishNu created Vaikuntam for his leelaas. Rudran created Kailaasam and occupied it with Uma and the Siva gaNaas. Indra got swarggam and there were many wonderful things there.

The four tusked whit elephant Airaavat, The divine horse Uchchaisravas, the divine cow Kaamadhenu, the rare flower Paarijaatam, the divine damsels apsaras, the God of Medicines Danvantri and the Moon just to name a few.

Three races were created namely the Devaas, The munushyaas and The Thiryak – animals which grow horizontally. These were born out of four different yonis or birth canals.

VishNu wanted to perform the Devi Yagnam. He collected the materials needed for Devi Yagnam He established a huge yaaga saalaa and invited all the sages and seers to attend the yagnam.

Rikviths were the special invitees. Japam started with the Beejaakshara mantras. Brahmins performed homam offering havisu.

An asareeri sounded from the sky. It was Devi herself who wanted to give Vishnu several boons – since she was well pleased with his Devi Yagnam.

“You VishNu will be worthy of being worshiped. You will be capable of giving boons to your devotees. You will be the aim and fruit of all bhaktaas and bhakti respectively.

You will possess all the eight aiswaryams (forms of wealth). You will be the giver of aanandham (bliss) and abhayam (fearlessness) to your devotees. You will establish Dharma (Justice) whenever it suffers in the hands of the unjust people.

My power will be infused in all your avatars. Even when you will be born as a lowly animal, your avatar will command and receive a lot of respect. These are my boons to you. Make sure that the world remembers to worship all my amsams without fail”

The yagnam was completed and all those who had attended it went back to their respective places.

13b. அகலிகை

விடிவதற்கு இன்னும் வெகுநேரம் இருக்கும்போதே
வடிவெடுத்துக் கொண்டான் இந்திரன் சேவலாக!

உரக்கக் கூவினான் ஆசிரமத்தின் அருகே நின்று;
உடனே புறப்பட்டார் கௌதம முனிவர் நதிக்கு.

முனிவர் அப்பால் சென்றதும் இந்திரன் – கௌதம
முனிவரின் வடிவெடுத்து நுழைந்தான் குடிலில்.

“அப்போது தான் வெளியே சென்ற தன் கணவர்
அதற்குள் திரும்பிவிட்டாரே!” வியந்தாள் அகலிகை.

“கோழி கூவியதால் நீராடச் சென்றேன் விரைந்து.
வழியில் தெரிந்தது இன்னமும் விடியவில்லை என்று.

உறக்கம் கெட்டுவிட்டது இன்று !” என்று கூறி வந்து
கிறக்கத்துடன் அமர்ந்தான் இந்திரன் அகலிகை அருகே.

கணவன் என்று நம்பியதால் ஐயுறவில்லை அகலிகை.
கணவனின் அன்பில் திக்குமுக்காடினாள் அன்று.

உறக்கம் விடாத நிலையில் இருந்தன தென்பட்ட
உலகத்தின் உயிர்க் கூட்டங்கள் அனைத்துமே!

விண்மீன்களில் அமைப்பிலும் தெரிந்தது இன்னும்
விடிவதற்கு வெகுநேரம் உள்ளது என முனிவருக்கு.

மனம் கலங்கிக் குழம்பி ஏனோ சஞ்சலப் பட்டது!
மனம் இது போல இருந்தது இல்லையே தினமும்!

நித்யானுஷ்டானங்களை முடித்தார் விரைவாக.
வித்தியாசமான மனக்குழப்பத்துடன் திரும்ப;

அடைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்தன குடிலின் கதவுகள்
அழைத்தார் மனைவியைக் கதவைத் தட்டி !

கட்டிலில் தன்னுடன் இருந்தது கணவன் எனில்
எட்டியிருந்து அவர் குரல் ஒலிப்பது எப்படி?

கணநேரத்தில் புரிந்தது தான் மோசம் போனது!
கணவன் உருவில் இருந்தவன் கணவன் அல்ல!

13 b. Ahayla Devi (2)

Long before dawn, Indra assumed the form of a cock. He crowed loudly in front of the ashram. Gouthama rushi thought it was time for the bath and daily prayers. He left for the river immediately.

The moment Rushi’s back was turned, Indra assumed the form of the rushi and entered the ashram. Ahalya was surprised to see him return so soon.

“It is not yet dawn. Si I came back. My sleep had been disturbed unnecessarily.” Indra in the guise of the sage sat near Ahayla. She did not suspect any foul play and was happy with the love showered on her by the ‘sage’ on that day.

The rushi noticed that all the living creatures were in deep sleep. He looked up at the sky and found from the position of the stars that it was not yet time for dawn. He hurriedly finished his daily prayer. His mind was deeply troubled for no known reason. Such a thing had never before happened. He hurried back to the ashram.

The doors were closed. So he knocked the door and called out his wife’s name. Ahayla was startled to hear her husband’s voice from outside the hut. If her husband was outside the hut, then who was with her on the cot?

She wasshocked to realize that she had been deceived by a clever impersonator.

5. ஈசன் மோனம் நீங்குதல்.

“நினைத்தது ஒன்று, நடந்தது ஒன்று” என்று ஆயிற்று!
நினைத்தபடி ஈசன் விடவில்லை யோகநிலையை.

காமன் முயற்சியும் வெற்றி பெறவில்லை அங்கே!
காமன், கண்பார்வையில் சாம்பல் ஆகிவிட்டான்.

இறைவனின் உள்ளத்தை உருக்க வல்லது
இறைஞ்சும் அடியவரின் இனிய மொழியே.

“துயர் துடைத்திடுவீர் ஐயனே – இன்றேல் எம்
உயிர் பறித்திடுவீர்! எமக்கு சரணாகதி நீரே!”

அனைவரையும் வரப் பணித்தான் ஈசன்;
அனைவர் குறைகளையும் கேட்டறிந்தான்;

“நீங்குங்கள் உங்கள் மனவருத்தம் உடனே ;
நீங்கள் விழைவது நடக்கும் உறுதியாக!”

பூசித்து ஈசனை வணங்கினாள் ரதிதேவியும்,
“நேசிக்கும் கணவன் உயிர்த்தெழ வேண்டும்!”

“உமையை யாம் வதுவை புரிகையில்
இமயத்தில் உயிர்த்தெழுவான் மன்மதன்”

இமைக்காமல் சென்று ரதி தங்கினாள்
உமை மணக் கோலம் காண இமயத்தில்.

நால்வருக்கும் மீண்டும் செப்பினான் ஈசன்
“நாவினால் நவிலர்ப்பாலதன்று ஞானம்!

தியானத்தில் அமர்ந்து மூழ்கித் தேடி,
மோனத்தில் நம்மை அறிவதே ஞானம்!

யோகத்தால் பண்படுவீர்கள் நீங்கள் – பின்பு
லோகத்தினர் விழையும் பரகதி பெறுவீர்!”

1.(# 5). COMING OUT OF YOGA STHITHI.

Devas planned something but something else had happened! Siva did not come out of Siva Yogam.

Manmathan got burned to ashes. His efforts were in vain. The only way to melt God’s heart is by sincere prayers.

The Devas prayed in Unison,”Oh Lord! Put an end to our sufferings or put an end to our lives!”

Siva called in everyone and learned about their troubles. He promised them to do the needful and told them to go back in peace.

Rathi prayed that her most beautiful and dutiful husband be brought back to life.

Siva promised her,”Your husband will come back alive on the day I wed Uma in Himalayas.”

Rathi went and waited in Himalayas for the God’s wedding to take place.

Siva told Sanakan and his three brothers that gnaanam can’t be imparted by mere words. One has to sit in dhyanam, go deep within himself and realize his true self – to acquire gnaanam.

3#13a. துருவ சிந்து

துருவ சிந்து சூரிய வம்சத்தின் ஓரரசன்;
தர்ம சீலன், சத்ய சந்தன், பாக்கியவான்!

ஆண்டான் கோசல தேசத்தை இனிதாக!
கொண்டான் அயோத்தியைத் தலைநகராக!

நிகழவில்லை தீச்செயல்கள் நாட்டில்.
திகழ்ந்தனர் மக்கள் நற்பண்புகளுடன்.

இருந்தனர் இரு மனைவியர் அவனுக்கு
இருவரும் சிறந்தவர் அழகில், அறிவில்.

பட்டது ராணி ஆவாள் மனோரமை – அவன்
இஷ்டநாயகி ஆவாள் இளையவள் லீலாவதி.

பெற்றாள் லீலாவதி அழகிய ஆண் மகவை!
பெற்றாள் மனோரமையும் முப்பதாம் நாள்!

ராஜ லக்ஷணம் நிறைந்த குமாரர்கள்
ராஜ்ஜியத்தின் கண்மணிகள் ஆயினர்.

சுதர்சனன் பட்டத்து ராணியின் மகன்;
சத்ருஜித் இஷ்டத்து ராணியின் மகன்.

இளைய மனைவின மகன் சற்று மூத்தவன்;
இளையவனாக இருந்தான் மூத்தவள் மகன்!

சாதுர்யம் உடையவன் சத்ருஜித் – அதனால்
சகலரும் நேசித்தனர் அவனை அதிகமாக.

வேட்டைக்குச் சென்றான் வேந்தன் காட்டுக்கு;
வெறியுடன் பாய்ந்தது சீற்றம் கொண்ட சிங்கம்.

வீரமாகப் போரிட்ட துருவ சிந்து – பின்னர்
வீழ்ந்து விட்டான் சிங்கத்தின் சீற்றத்துக்கு.

எழுந்தது புதிய பிரச்சனை அந் நாட்டில்;
“எவருக்குப் பட்டம் கட்டுவது அரசனாக?”

3#11a. Dhruva Sindhu

Dhruva Sindhu was a king of Soorya vamsam. He ruled over Kosala Desam with Ayodhya as his capital city. He was a man of justice, truthful and fortunate.

His country was free from crimes. His citizens were very well behaved. He had two queens – both very beautiful and intelligent. His queen on the throne was Manorama and his favorite queen was the younger Leelaavati.

Leelaavati gave birth to a beautiful son first. Manorama delivered a son a month later. Sudharsanan, the son of the elder queen Manorama was younger by one month.

Satrujit the son of the younger queen was older by one month. Both these princes had all the princely qualities and were loved by the whole country . Satrujit was smarter and people adored him more than Sudharsanan.

King Dhruva Sindhu went for hunting one fine day. He had to fight with a lion which pounced on him with a terrible anger. In the fight with that ferocious animal, the king got killed.

Now a new problem arose in the country. “Who was to become the next king? The younger son of the older queen or the older son of the younger queen?’

13c. அகலிகை

கண்களில் பறந்தன தீப் பொறிகள்!
கண்ணகி போலச் சினந்து நின்றாள்!

“மோசம் செய்து விட்டாயே என்னை!
வேஷம் கலைந்தது! நீ யார் எனக்கூறு!”

முனிபத்தினியின் முன் வெட்கித் தலை
குனிந்து நாணி நின்றான் தேவேந்திரன்.

“பாதகம் செய்து களங்கப் படுத்தினாய்;
ஏது காரணம் உடனே என்னிடம் கூறு!”

“அழகைக் கண்டு மயங்கி விட்டேன்
தழுவி இன்புற விருப்பம் கொண்டேன்!”

முனிவர் தட்டினார் மீண்டும் கதவுகளை.
முனிவரின் பாதங்களில் ஓடி விழுந்தாள்.

கண்ணீரால் கழுவினாள் இரு கால்களை
“மன்னியுங்கள் சுவாமி என் பிழையை.

மோசம் செய்துவிட்டான் – உம் போலவே
வேஷம் அணிந்து வந்திருந்த தேவராஜன்.

கூவினான் ஏமாற்றச் சேவல் உருவில்!
கூடினான் என்னுடன் உங்கள் உருவில்.

ஐயுறவில்லை நான் சிறிதும் அவன் மீது!
ஐயனே இப்பிழை என்னுடையது அல்ல!’

“கணவனின் பழகிய ஸ்பரிசத்திற்கும்,
காமுகனின் புதிய ஸ்பரிசத்திற்கும்,

இல்லை வேறுபாடு என்று சொல்பவள்
கல்லா அல்லது பெண்ணா நீயே கூறு!

பொல்லாதவனிடம் கற்பை இழந்த நீ
கல்லாக மாறிக் கிட காலமெல்லாம்!”

சாப விமோசனம் கேட்டுக் கதறினாள்;
தாபம் நீக்கினார் சாப நிவாரணத்தால்.

“தயரதன் மகன் ராமன் கால் பட்டதும்
சுயவுருவடைவாய்! அதுவரை காத்திரு!”

13c. Ahalya Devi

Sparks flew out of her red eyes. She spoke with a terrible anger. “You have deceived me by impersonating my husband. Who are you? Reveal your true self now!”

Indra hung his head with shame in front of the wrath of the rishi patni. “Why did you do this to me?” Ahalya demanded Indra. “I was shaken by your beauty and wanted to enjoy you at any cost!”

Gouthama rushi knocked the doors again. Ahayla opened the doors, ran out and flung herself at his feet. Her copious tears of remorse washed the sage’s feet.

“Oh swami! please forgive me and my sin. Indra had deceived both of us. He cried in the form a cock to get you out of the hut and came to me in your form. I did not suspect anything amiss. It is not my fault.”

Gouthama replied,”If a woman says that there is no difference between the touch of her husband and that of a stranger, she must be made of a stone. You lost your chastity and you will become a stone for eternity.”

Ahayla cried at his feet for a saapa nivaaranam. He took pity on her and said, “When the feet of Sri Rama, the son of King Dasaratha touch you, you will regain your true form!”

6a. சிவனும், உமையும்.

உமையின் தவக் கோலத்தைக் காண
இமயம் சென்றார் சிவன், தவசீலராக!

அழைத்துச் சென்றனர் உமையிடம் – பின்
ஆசனம் அளித்து உபசரித்தனர் தோழியர்.

“சிறு பெண்ணே! உடல் வருந்தி இளைக்கப்
பெரும் தவம் செய்யக் காரணம் என்ன?”

“முக்கட் பிரானை மணம் புரிய விரும்பி
இக்கன்னி செய்கின்றாள் அரும் தவம்!”

“நான்முகனும், நெடுமாலும் காண்பதற்கரிய
நந்தி வாஹனன் இத்தவத்துக்கு எளியவரோ?

மணம் புரிவாரா உன் தவத்துக்கு இரங்கி?
குணம் அறிவீரா அந்த முக்கண்ணனது?”

“முதலும், முடிவும் இல்லாத அவன் மறுத்தாலும்,
நுதற்கண் பெருமான் மீது தவம் செய்வேன் நான்!”

“சிவனைப் பற்றி நன்கு அறிவேன் நான்.
அவனைப் பற்றிக் கூறுகின்றேன் கேள்!

ஆடையோ தோல்! ஊர்தியோ ஓர் எருது!
ஓடே உண்ணும் கலம்! உணவோ நஞ்சு!

அணிகலன்கள் எலும்பும், பன்றிக்கோடும்,
பணிகளும், பல கபால மாலைகளும்,

இருப்பிடமோ சுடுகாடு! படைகளோ பூதங்கள்!
விரும்பும் ஆயுதங்கள் சூலம், மழு, தீ!

தந்தையும் இல்லை, ஒரு தாயும் இல்லை!
சொந்த பந்தம் என்று எவரும் இல்லை.

மலை அரசனின் அருந்தவப் புதல்வி நீ!
விலை கொடுத்து வம்பை வாங்குவது ஏன்?”

“பொய்க்கோலம் பூண்டு வந்த பார்ப்பனரே!
மெய்யன்பர் பேசும் வார்த்தைகளா இவை?

அவுணர்களிலும் மிகுந்த கொடியவர் நீர்!
சிவனின் பெருமைகளைக் குறை கூறினீர்!

ஈசன் மகிமையை உணர்ந்தவர் எவர்?
பூசனை செய்யாதவர் போகலாம் வெளியே!”

1 # (6a). SIVA AND UMA

Siva wanted to witness Uma’s tapas. He transformed himself into an old brahmin sanyAsi and reached Himalayas.

Uma’s friends guided him to her and offered him a seat. The old man asked Uma, “Why do you do severe tapas and suffer thus?”.

Her friends replied that Uma wanted to marry Siva and hence this tapas.

“Siva can’t be seen even by Brahma and Vishnu as and when they please. Do you think your tapas will make Siva’s heart melt and make him marry you?

“Whether or not Siva marries me I will continue my tapas.” Uma replied.

“I personally know Siva very well. I will tell you all about Him. Listen to me carefully now!

He wears the skins of animals. He rides on a bull. He eats begged food out of a skull. His favorite food is poison!

His ornaments are bones and tusks of boars. His jewels are poisonous snakes and kapaala maalaa. He dances on the cremation ground.

His army consists of monsters. His favorite weapons are trisoola, mazhu and fire. He has neither a father nor a mother nor any kin nor kith.

You are the pretty daughter of the King of mountains. Why do you wish that a person like Siva should become your husband?”

Uma got wild with anger and burst out,”I am sure you are not a real sanyAsi nor a brahmin. No devotee of God can utter such crude and cruel words.

Not even the asuras speak ill of Siva in this manner. If you dislike Siva, you must leave this place immediately. Please go away!”

3#13b. “யாருக்கு அரசு?”

யுதாஜித் சத்ருஜித்துக்குப் பாட்டன் முறை;
லீலாவதியின் தந்தை; உஜ்ஜயினி மன்னன்.

வீரசேனன் சுதர்சனனுக்குப் பாட்டன் முறை;
மனோரமையின் தந்தை; கலிங்கத்து மன்னன்.

வந்து சேர்ந்தனர் படையுடன் அயோத்திக்கு;
விரும்பினர் தத்தம் பேரனை மன்னன் ஆக்கிட.

“மூத்தவன் இருக்க இளையவனுக்கு அரசா?’
வாதித்தான் யுதாஜித், பேரன் சத்ருஜித்துக்காக.

:”பட்டத்து ராணி மகனே பட்டத்துக்குரியவன்!”
வெட்டினான் வாதத்தை மன்னன் வீரசேனன்.

“ஏதும் அறியாத சிறுவன் அரசாள்வதா?’
ஏளனம் செய்தான் சுதர்சனனை யுதாஜித்!

“மூளுமோ கலகம்?” என்றஞ்சினர் அமைச்சர்கள்
“மூளுமோ போர்?” என்றஞ்சினர் படை வீரர்கள்.

“கொள்ளையடிக்க விரும்புகிறீர்களோ – ஒரு
வெள்ளை மனச் சிறுவனை அரசனாக்கிவிட்டு?

சிறியவனுக்குப் பட்டம் கட்டுபவரைச்
சின்னாபின்னம் ஆக்கி விடுவேன் நான்!”

சூளுரைத்தான் உஜ்ஜயினி மன்னன் யுதாஜித்!
சூளுரைத்தான் கலிங்க மன்னன் வீரசேனன்!

வாய் வார்த்தைகள் தடித்தன, வெடித்தன!
வாட் சண்டை மூளும் அபாயம் வந்தது !

கலகப் பிரியர்களும், பகைவர்களும்,
கள்ளர்களும், வேடர்களும் நுழைந்தனர்,

கொள்ளையடித்துச் சூறையாட அயோத்தியை!
கொள்ளையரை வென்றனர் இரு பாட்டன்களும்,

வேற்றுமைகளை மறந்து விட்டு, ஒன்று சேர்ந்து
ஒற்றுமையாகப் பகைவருடன் சண்டையிட்டு.

3#13b. “Who will rule the country?”

YudAjit was the grandfather of Satrujit. He was LeelAvathy’s father and the king of Ujjayini. Veera Senan was the grand father of Sudarsanan. He was Queen Manorama’s father and the king of Kalinga. Both arrived in Ayodhyaa with their repective armies – ready for a showdown!

Both wanted their own grandson to become the sucessor to King Dhruva Sindhu. Yudaajit argued, “The younger prince cannot supersede the elder prince to become the new king”

Veera Senan put forward his side of the arguement.” The son of the queen will be the natural and legal heir – not the son of the other wife.”

Yudaajit said, “I know your ulterior motive. You want to make an innocent boy the king so that you can llot the wealth of this country”

The ministers were afraid of a mutiny in the kingdom with the people diving among themselves to support one of the two princes. The army was afraid that a war was imminent.

Each of the grandfathers swore to make his own grand child as the new king. This was the opportune moment for which the people who love to create disturbance in the country, the enemies, the thieves and the hunters had been waiting for.

They entered the country to loot its wealth using the disharmony.
But both the grand fathers forgot their differences in opinion, joined hands to fight their common enemies. The enemies were vanquished and thrown out of Ayodhya by their joint effort.

13d. அகலிகை

அகலிகைக்ுச் சாப நிவாரணம் கூறிவிட்டுப்
பகைவன் இந்திரனைத் தேடினார் கௌதமர்.

குடிலில் ஒளிந்திருந்த இந்திரன் – பூனை
வடிவெடுத்துத் தப்பிச் செல்ல முயன்றான்.

தபோ மகிமையால் அதை உணர்ந்த முனிவர்
தப்பிச் செல்லாதவாறு அதட்டினார் அவனை.

“நிஜ உருவில் வந்து வணங்கினான் அவரை.
“ராஜனே! உன் பதவி என்ன? பெருமை என்ன?

தேவ மங்கையர் போதவில்லையோ உனக்கு?
பாவப்பட்ட ரிஷிபத்னியும் தேவைப்பட்டாளோ?

மனிதனாக இருந்தால் எரிந்து போயிருப்பாய்!
புனிதன் போல நடிப்பு! புரிவதோ இழிசெயல்!

பெண் இன்பத்தை நாடிப் பாதகம் புரிந்தாய்!
பெண் குறிகளால் உன் உடல் நிறையட்டும்.”

கோபம் வெளிப்பட்டது 1 கொடிய சாபமாக!
சாபம் வெளிப்பட்டது 1000 பெண்குறிகளாக.

ஈனச் செயல் புரிந்து மானம் கெட்டான்!
காண இயலாத விகார உடல் பெற்றான்!

நாணி ஓடிச்சென்று ஒளிந்து கொண்டான்;
காணவில்லை இந்திரனை தேவலோகத்தில்!

காணவில்லை இந்திரனை பிரமலோகத்தில்!
காணவில்லை இந்திரனை வைகுந்தத்தில்!

காணவில்லை இந்திரனை கைலாசத்தில்!
காணவில்லை இந்திரனை பாதாளத்தில்!

குலகுருவிடம் சென்று கேட்டனர் தேவர்கள்;
குலகுரு சொன்னார்,” நாரதரைக் கேளுங்கள்!

திரிகால ஞானி ஆவான் நாரத முனிவன்;
திரிலோக சஞ்சாரியும் ஆவான் நாரதன்.

அவனுக்குத் தெரியாமல் இருக்க முடியாது
அவனைக் கேட்டால் பிறக்கும் தெளிவு.”

13d. Ahalya Devi

After cursing and granting saap nivaaranam to Ahayla, Gouthama looked for Indra. Indra who was hiding in the hut, transformed himself into cat and tried to slip away and escape silently.

But the Rushi knew it by his powers. He called out Indra’s name. Indra came and paid obeisance to the rushi in his true form.

“Oh King of Heaven! Have you forgotten you power and position in the heaven? Are not the apsaras and the divine dames enough to please you? Should you deceive and enjoy a rushipatni also?

If you were a mere mortal you would have turned to ash. But you are the king of heaven who will stoop to any level seeking carnal pleasure . You did this merely for the pleasure given by a woman. May your body bear the marks of a woman all over it!”

Rushi’s anger became a saapam. The saapam turned him into a weird figure with the mark of a woman appearing all over his body.

Indra felt so ashamed of himself that he went and hid himself immediately. The Deva looked for Indra everywhere but could not find him in swarga or Satyaloka or Vaikunta or Kailasa or even Paataal. They all went and asked their kulaguru.

He too did not know anything about it. He told them ,”Narada is a tri kaala gnaani and thiloka sanchaari. Nothing ever escapes him. If you ask him he might be knowing the whereabouts of Indra”

6b. ஈசனின் தரிசனம்.

“உன்னையே மணம் புரிய விரும்பி வந்தேன்,
என்னையே நீ வெளியேறச் சொல்லலாமா?

இது தகுமா? இது முறையா? இது தருமமா?”
பதை பதைத்த உமை இடம் பெயர்ந்தாள்!

விண்ணில் அவள் கண்ட காட்சி தான் என்ன?
விடையேறும் பிரான் அடியார்கள் புடைசூழ!

“ஐயனே உம்மைக் கண்டு கொள்ளாமல் பேதை
ஐயமுற்று வன்மொழிகள் பகர்ந்து விட்டேன்!”

“இகழ்ந்து நீ உரைத்தவற்றை எல்லாம்
புகழ்ந்து உரைத்ததாக எண்ணுகின்றேன்.

உடலை வருத்தும் தவத்தை விட்டுவிடு.
உடன் வந்து மணம் புரிவேன் நாளையே!”

மகிழ்ந்த தோழிகள் ஓடோடிச் சென்று
நிகழ்ந்தவற்றைத் தாய் தந்தைக்குக் கூற;

அன்னையும் தந்தையும் விரைந்து வந்து
அன்புடன் உமையைக் கூட்டிச் சென்றனர்.

1 # (6b). THE DHARSHAN

“I have come here in order to marry you and you tell me to get out! Is it fair? Is it just? Is it Dharma?”

Uma got badly agitated and tried to leave the place in a hurry. But just then what did she see in the sky high above?

It was Siva seated on his Nandhi and surrounded by his devotees.

“Oh Lord! I failed to recognize you and spoke to you harsh words. Please forgive me”

“I consider your harsh words as sweet words of praise. Do not punish yourself with this penance. I shall marry you tomorrow”

Uma’s friends and attendants ran to the Himavaan and Mona Devi and told them of the happenings. They came to Uma in great joy and took her home with them.

3#14a. உரிமைப் போராட்டம்

ஒற்றுமையாக வென்றனர் பொது எதிரிகளை;
வேற்றுமையுடன் பொருதனர் அரசுரிமைக்கு!

வாதம் மாறியது சொற்போராக; விற்போராக!
யுதாஜித் தயாரானான் வெற்றிக் கொடியுடன்.

போரை விரும்பவில்லை வீரசேனன் – எனினும்
வேறு வழியின்றி நுழைந்தான் போர்க்களத்தில்.

கடும் போர் நடந்தது இருவரின் படைகளிடையே.
முடிவில் மடிந்தான் வீரசேனன் போர்க்களத்தில்.

தலைவன் இல்லாத வீரர்கள் என்ன செய்வர்?
தலை தெறிக்க ஓடினர் தம்மைக் காத்துக் கொள்ள.

பதறினாள் மனோரமை செய்தி அறிந்து;
சிதறி ஓடிவிட்டது படை போர்க்களத்தில்!

‘தந்தையைக் கொன்றவன் தனயனைக் கொன்றால்?
எந்த இழிச்செயலையும் செய்ய வல்லவன் அவன்!

தர்மத்தைத் தள்ளி வைத்து விடுவான் அவன்
தயை என்றால் என்ன விலை என்று கேட்பான்.

சக்களத்தியைப் பற்றிக் கூறவே வேண்டாம்!
சக்களத்திகள் செய்யாத கொடுமைகளா?

சாகரனின் தாய்க்கு விஷம் தந்தவள் சக்களத்தி.
ராமனைக் காட்டுக்கு அனுப்பியவள் சக்களத்தி.

யாரும் இல்லாத அநாதை ஆகிவிட்டேன் நான்!
வேறிடம் சென்றாவது என் மகனைக் காப்பேன்!’

நம்பிக்கைக்கு உரிய அமைச்சரிடம் கேட்டாள்.
“வம்புச் சண்டையில் தப்பிப் பிழைத்து எப்படி?”

“காட்டுக்கவது, காசிக்காவது சென்று விடுங்கள்!
காசியில் உள்ளான் என் மாமன் சுபாஹு!

பாதுகாப்பு அளிப்பான் உங்கள் இருவருக்கும்;
பார்க்கச் செல்வதாகச் சொல்லுங்கள் யுதாஜித்தை!

தேரில் ஏறிச் சென்று விடுங்கள் அதன் பின்.
தேரின் பாதையை மாற்றி விடுங்கள் அதன் பின்!”

3#14a. The struggle for the throne

The two grandfathers won their common enemies united but they fought among themselves for the sake of the throne. Their argument became a war of words and then a real war with bows and arrows.

Yuthaajit was confident of winning in the war. Veerasenan did not want to fight but had little choice. A terrible war was fought and Veerasenan got killed by Yuthaajit. His army ran away in confusion since it lost its leader and the king.

Manorama was steeped in sorrow and fear on hearing this. ‘My father has been killed and his army vanquished. Yuthaajit is a mean king and will do anything for the sake of the throne. He has killed my father! What if he kills my son also? He is capable of any mean act and is merciless in is behavior.

I need not elaborate on the wickedness of the step mothers. Sagaran’s mother was poisoned by his stepmother. Rama was sent to the forest by his stepmother. I am a helpless woman now. i must make haste and escape in order to save my son!’

She consulted a trustworthy minister. He told her.” Oh Queen! Escape and go to either to the forest or to Kaasi. My uncle Subhaahu lives in Kaasi.

He will offer protection to you and the prince. Go out in a chariot under the pretext of visiting king Yuthaajit and once you have gone out, change the course of your chariot”
