BRAHMAN AND MAYA

The sum total of all power is Brahmam;
The expression of the power is MAYA.

The Energy stored is Brahmam;
The Energy spent is MAYA.

The Immovable power is Brahmam;
The Power in motion is MAYA.

If a fire can be equated to Brahmam;
Its capacity to burn is equated to MAYA.

If a prism can be equated to Brahmam;
Its spectrum can be equated to MAYA.

If Srushti kAranam is Brahmam;
Then Srushti kAriyam is MAYA.

What lies beyond our sight is Brahmam;
Everything within our eye sight is MAYA.

That which remains aloof is Brahmam;
That which expresses itself is MAYA.

That which is neither born nor destroyed is Brahmam;
That which is born and gets destroyed is MAYA.

Brahmam and MAYA are mixed like milk and water.
Only a Parama hamsA can separate the two,
In the same way a hamsA separates milk and water.

# 53.(a). கீரனைக் கரை சேர்த்தது

“நெற்றிக் கண்ணைத் திறந்தாலும் – உம்
குற்றம் குற்றமே!” என வாதிட்டுச் சிவன்

நெற்றிக் கண் சுவாலையால் தாக்கப்பட்டு,
பொற்றாமரைக் குளத்தில் விழுந்தான் நக்கீரன்.

வீழ்ந்த நக்கீரன் வெளியே வரவில்லை!
ஆழ்ந்த கவலையில் அருமை நண்பர்கள்!

“என்ன ஆயிற்று நீரில் விழுந்தவனுக்கு?
இன்னமும் உயிரோடு தான் உள்ளானா?”

கீரன் இல்லாத புலவர்கள் சங்கம்
மாறன் இல்லாத நாட்டுக்குச் சமம்!

ஞானம் இல்லாத் கல்விக்குச் சமம்!
மானம் இல்லாத மங்கைக்குச் சமம்!

வாது புரிந்தது பிழையோ அல்லவோ!
வாதிடுபவர் சிவன் என்றறிந்த பின்னர்;

வாதத்தைக் கீரன் நிறுத்தி இருக்கலாம்-அப
வாதத்தை அவன் தவிர்த்திருக்கலாம்!

கயிலையைப் பெயர்த்த ராவணன் கர்வத்தைக்
கால் கட்டைவிரல் அழுத்தத்தால் அழிந்தவர்;

பயிலும் வீணை இசையில் மயங்கியதால்
பரிசாக அளித்தார் பின்னர் வாளும், தேரும்!

ஈசன் மனம் வைத்தால் எதுவும் நடக்கும்!
பூசனை செய்யும் அன்பரைக் கைவிடான்!

பாசமிகு நண்பன் உயிர் காக்க வேண்டி
நேசமிகு ஈசனைப் பூசனை செய்தனர்.

“தாயும் ஆகிவந்த தயாபரன் நீயே!
தந்தையாக உலகைக் காப்பவன் நீயே!

வித்யா கர்வத்தின் மிகுதியால் கீரன்
விதண்டாவாதம் செய்யத் துணிந்தான்.

தண்டனையும் பெற்றுவிட்டான்- தன்
தவற்றையும் கீரன் உணர்ந்திருப்பான்!

விண்ணப்பிக்கின்றோம் உம் திருவடிகளில்!
தண்ணருள் பொழிந்து நண்பனைக் காப்பீர்!”

# 53 (a). KEERAN IS SAVED!

Even after realizing that it was Lord Siva himself who had come in the disguise of Tamil poet, Keeran continued to argue with Him!

He was scorched by the red hot fire emitted by the third eye of Siva and fell into the Lotus Pond! He did not emerge from the water. All his friends got worried about his safety and well being.

The Tamil Sangam without Keeran would be like a country without a king, a learning without wisdom and a woman without virtue.

It was wrong on the part of Keeran to continue to argue and make Siva angry. When Ravana tried to displace Mount Kailash, Siva shattered his ego and pride by the pressure applied by his single toe.

But when Ravana played enchanting music on veena, Lord was well pleased with him and gifted him with a sword and a chariot.

If Siva could be moved to pity, Keeran could still be saved! All the poets gathered together and prayed to Siva to save the life of Keeran,

“You are the Thaayum Aanavan! You are the father of creation. Keeran argued with you because of his vidhyaa garvam.

He has been duly punished by you. He has realized his folly. We pray for your mercy! Please save the life of our dear friend – even though he is at fault!”

2#2b. பராசரர் பதில்

எதிர்க்கரையை அடைந்து விட்டது அந்த ஓடம்.
விதிர்ந்தார் பராசரர் அவள் பிரிவை எண்ணி.

விட்டு விட்டுப் போய்விடுவாளோ என்றஞ்சி
கெட்டியாகப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டார் கைகளை.

“மீன் நாற்றம் வீசுகிறது உடலில் என்றாய்!
நான் உமக்கு ஏற்றவன் இல்லை என்றாய்!

மச்சகந்தத்தை நீக்கிவிடுகிறேன் இப்போதே!
இச்சையூட்டும் பரிமளகந்தம் தருவேன்!”

நீரை அள்ளித் தெளித்தார் மச்சகந்தி மீது;
தாரை வார்த்தார் தவப்பயனைக் கொஞ்சம்.

பரிமளம் வீசியது உடல் காத தூரத்துக்கு.
பிரியமுடன் பெயரிட்டார் சத்யவதி என.

ஏற்றவள் ஆகிவிட்டாய் இப்போது எனக்கு!
ஏற்க வேண்டும் என் கோரிக்கையை நீ!

உல்லாச மொழிகள் பல பேசினார் பராசரர்.
சல்லாபத்துக்குத் தயார் ஆனாள் சத்யவதி.

மயங்கிவிட்டாள் தன் உடலின் பரிமளத்தில்
தயங்கி நின்றாள் பகல் பொழுதாக இருந்ததால்.

‘பகல் இரவு பாராமல் கூடுவன மிருகங்கள் – நாம்
பகல் கழியும் வரைக் காத்திருப்போம்” என்றாள்.

ஜலத்தை அள்ளி ஜெபித்துத் தெளித்தவுடன்
ஜகஜ்ஜாலம் நிகழ்ந்தது; பகல் இரவானது!

“காமம் மிகுந்தவருக்கு மிகுந்திருக்கும் வீரியம்;
காமம் முடிந்ததும் சென்று விடுவீர் பாம்பு போல.

குழந்தையைப் பெற்றுக் கொண்டு கிடப்பேன் நான்
இழிவடைந்து உலகின் பழிச்சொற்களுக்கு ஆளாகி!”

2#2b. Paraasharaa’s offer

The boat had reached the opposite bank of the river. Soon the girl would go back on her boat and out of his life for ever. The sage caught hold of her hands tightly and spoke to her.

“my dear girl! You objected to our union because you smell like a fish. I can remove that smell and bestow on you a divine fragrance in an instant.”

He sprinkled some water on her and sacrificed a part of the power he had earned by his penance. Now the girl emanated a divine fragrance which could reach far and wide. He named her as Satyavati.

Satyavati was so happy with her new fragrance that she was ready to accept the sage’s love. She hesitated since it was day time which was not suitable for indulging in the act of love.

The sage had a solution to that problem also. He took some water from his kamandalam, chanted a mantra and sprinkled it. A miracle happened and the day became as dark as a night now.

The girl had one more objections now. “People in lust have a lot of sexual prowess. You will make me pregnant and disappear from my life once for all. I will deliver a child out of wedlock and be spoken ill of for all my life!”

மிக மிகப் பெரியவன் ஆயினும் உவந்து,
மிக மிகச் சிறியதையும் ஏற்பான் அவன்.
பாமரர், தாழ்ந்தவர் எனும்படியோ,
பண்டிதர், உயர்ந்தவர் எனும்படியோ,

ஆண் மகன், பெண் மகள் எனும்படியோ,
அறிஞன், அறிவிலி எனும்படியோ,
ஆண்டவன் பாரான் பேதங்களையே;
அனைவரும் சமமே அவன் பார்வையிலே!

நாம் அனைவரும் அவன் குழந்தைகளே;
நாம் மறந்தாலும், இதை அவன் மறவான்!
மண்ணில் புரண்ட மகனைக் குளிப்பாட்டும்,
மாதாவைப் போல, நம் பாவம் களைவான்.

ஓரடி வைத்து நாம் அவனை நெருங்கினால்,
நூறடி வைத்து அவன் நம்மை நெருங்குவான்.
மகிமைகள் புரியும் அவனை நெருங்க நெருங்க;
தகுதிக்கேற்றபடி அவன் தன்னைக் காட்டுவான்.

எறும்பு ஊரக் கல்லும் தேயும் என்பார்;
எறும்புகள் போல நாம் எத்தனை எடுத்து,
அக்கறையுடன் தின்றாலும், தீராத ஒரு
சர்க்கரைக் குன்று அவன், குணக் குன்றும் கூட!

THE GREATNESS OF GOD


God is the greatest of all things and persons and yet He accepts with happiness the humblest thing we can offer humbly. He has absolutely no discretion. He does not differentiate between the intellectuals and the illiterates; the high and low in social status; the superior and the inferiors; the man and the woman. Every one is equal in His eyes.


We are all His Children. We may forget this fact and drift away from Him. But He never forgets this. Just as a mother will clean her baby which has become dirty, He will cleanse us of all our sins.


If if we take one step towards Him, He will take 100 steps towards us and come closer to us. The closer we are to Him, the better we understand His true greatness. He reveals Himself depending on the receptive power of the devotee.


His grace is so powerful that it can convert an illiterate cowherd into a world famous poet. It can make a dumb person speak, a cripples man walk and a deaf man hear. Every door that has been closed on us will be thrown open to us.


Even ants leave a mark on a hard stone when they walk over it a million times. But God is the mountain of sugar which never diminishes or wears out even if all the creations become ants and try to taste Him.

He is a mountain of sugar and also of kindness and compassion.

# 53 (b). ஈசனும், கீரனும்

கூட்டுப் பிரார்த்தனைக்குச் சக்தி அதிகம்!
கூட்டு முயற்சிகளுக்கு வெற்றி வாய்ப்பும்!

மீட்டுத் தர விரும்பினான் புலவர் கீரனை!
மீனாட்சி அம்மையுடன் எழுந்தருளினான்.

தண்ணருள் பார்வையை ஈசன் முழுமையாகத்
தண்ணீருக்குள் செலுத்தினான் அன்புடன்!

தன்மயம் ஆகிவிட்டான் தண்ணீரிலே கீரன்;
தன்னையும் மறந்துவிட்டான் அதீத பக்தியில்.

“ஜகதன்னையின் கூந்தலைப் பழித்த நான்
மிகப் பெரிய குற்றம் புரிந்து விட்டேன்!

எவன் செய்த எத்தகைய பாவத்தையும்
சிவன் மட்டுமே மன்னித்து அருளுவான்!”

திரு காளத்தியப்பர் மீது தொடுத்தான்
“கயிலை பாதி காளத்தி பாதி அந்தாதி”!

நெருங்கினான் சிவன் அவன் குரல் கேட்டு
திருக்கரம் பற்றிக் கரை ஏறினான் கீரன்.

புன்மை செய்பவர்க்கு அனல் காட்டும் பிரான்
நன்மை செய்பவருக்கு அருள் காட்டுவான்!

செய்யுள் மாலை ஒன்றைக் கீரன் கோர்த்தான்
ஐயன் குணாதிசயங்களைச் அதில் சேர்த்தான்.

கோபப் பிரசாதம் என்னும் அழகிய
தாபம் தீர்க்கும் ஒரு வசந்த மாலை.

பெருந்தேவ பாணி என்னும் பாடல்களையும்
திருவெழு கூற்றிருக்கையும் இயற்றினான்.

பன்முறை பணிந்து வணங்கிய கீரனை
முன்போல் சிறப்புடன் வாழ வழுத்தினான்.

அன்னையுடன், தந்தையும் மறைந்தருளவே
பின்னர் மண்டபம் சேர்ந்தனர் புலவர்கள்

பொற்கிழியை அளித்தனர் தருமிக்கு!
அற்புதப் பரிசுமழை பொழிந்தான் அரசன்,

செல்வத்தை வெறுத்த சங்கப் புலவர்கள்
கல்வியில் செல்வந்தராக வாழ்ந்திருந்தனர் .

# 53 (b). KEERAN AND SIVAN

Mass prayer had more power than individual prayers. Mass effort has greater rate of success than individual efforts.

Lord Siva was moved to pity! He appeared with his consort Meenaakshi Devi near the Lotus Pond.

Siva gazed into the water of the pond. Keeran felt the divine gaze and attained paravasam with the surging bakthi bhaavam.

He thought to himself, “I have committed a heinous crime by commenting on Devi’s hair. Only Siva can forgive and forget the sins committed by fools like me!”

Keeran composed an Anthaadhi “Kayilai Paadhi, Kaalaththi Paathi”. Siva moved closer to him. Keeran took hold of Siva’s hand and emerged from the water of the pond!

Siva always shows anger to the wrong doers and love to the righteous people. Keeran compiled the Guna adhisayam of Lord Siva.

He sang a Vasantha Maalai called “Kobap Pradaadam”.
He composed poems called “Perundeva Paani” and “Thriuvezhu Kootrirukkai.”

Keeran prostrated to Siva several times begging for His pardon. God blessed him to live in all glory as before. He then disappeared with his Devi.

The poets returned to their Sanga Mandapam. They presented the bag of gold coins to Tarumi. The king showered more gifts on Tarumi.

The poets hated pomp and show as they believed in “Simple living and high thinking.” They continued to lead a very simple and humble life but they all were rich in their knowledge and talents.

2#2c. வாக்குறுதிகள்

“அழகான மங்கைப் பருவம் நீ அடைந்தது
அளவிலாத சுகம் பெறுவதற்கே அறிவாய்.

கூடி மகிழ்ந்து நான் பிரிந்த பிறகும் நீ
ஆடிப்பாடலாம் முன்போல் கன்னியாக!”

முனிவரின் வாக்குறுதியைக் கேட்ட பிறகு
மனதில் தோன்றியது மேலும் ஓர் ஐயம்.

“கன்னித் தன்மை திரும்புவது சரியே!
முன்போல மச்சகந்தமும் திரும்புமோ?”

“ஐயங்களை அகற்றிவிடுகிறேன் நான்
மெய்யான வாக்குறுதிகளை அளித்து.

மீண்டும் அடைவாய் கன்னித் தன்மை!
யாண்டும் வீசும் உன் பரிமள சுகந்தம்!

விளங்குவாய் சத்யவதி என்ற பெயரில்
விளங்குவாய் கற்புடைய பெண்ணாகவே.

விரும்பிய ஆடவனை மணம் புரிவாய்;
விரும்பிய வாழ்வு வந்து அமையும்.

உண்டாவான் என் உறவால் உனக்கு மகன்;
உண்மையில் அவன் விஷ்ணுவின் அம்சம்!

பரப்புவான் வேதங்களைத் திரட்டித் தொகுத்து;
புராணங்களாக வடிப்பான் வேதாந்தங்களை.

மூவுலகிலும் அடைவான் இணையற்ற புகழ்;
மூவுலகிலும் கண்டுள்ளேன் ஈடற்ற அழகியரை.

முன் எவரிடமும் தோன்றவில்லை காமம்;
உன்மேல் கொண்ட காமம் விதிவசமானது.

அருவருக்கத் தக்க மச்சகந்தம் கொண்ட நீ
பரிசுத்தமான என்னை மயக்கியது விதிவசம்.”

பரிமளகந்தியுடன் கூடினார் பராசரர்;
பகலை இரவாக மாற்றி, நதிக் கரையில்.

நதியில் நீராடினார், விட்டுச் சென்றார்,
அதி விரைவாக வனாந்தரத்தை நாடி.

2#2c. Paraasharaa’s promises

“You have attained womanhood only to enjoy the physical pleasures. Even after I love you and leave you, you will become a virgin as before.”The sage promised Satyavati thus.

Now she got a new doubt. “It is good to become a virgin again but will my machcha gandham also come back to me along with my virginity?”

The sage spoke to her, “I shall put an end to all your doubts now. You will become a virgin once again. You parimaLa gandham will remain as it is now.

You will live in the name of Satyavati. You will respected as a chaste woman by one and all. You will marry the man you will fall in love with. You will live a happy and fruitful life.

You will beget a son from me. He is the amasam of Vishnu and will become famous all over the three worlds. He would collect, compile, classify and spread the Vedas through his disciples. He will write many puraaNam conveying the gist of the Vedaanta.

I have seen several beautiful women in all the three world but never once had I been physically attracted by them as I am now. Our love has been planned by destiny. Why else should you, emanating a weird small, attract me – a brahmin?”

The sage united with Satyavati on the river bank during the day time – made as dark as a night. He took his bath and went away into the deep forest after his brief love affair with Satyavati.

டார்வின் கண்டு அறிந்து சொன்னார்,
உலகில் பரிணாம வளர்ச்சியினை;
பரமன் நமக்குச் செய்தே காட்டினான்,
உலகில் பரிணாம வளர்ச்சியினை!

முன்னர் நீரில் உயிரினம் தோன்றியது;
பின் நீரிலும், நிலத்திலும் வாழ்பவை;
தரையில் வாழ்பவை என உயிரினங்கள்,
தர வரிசைப்படி தோன்றின என்பார்.

மறைகளைக் காப்பதற்கு இறைவன்,
நீரில் வாழும் மீனாய்த் தோன்றினான்.
மந்தர மலையைத் தாங்கிப் பிடிக்க,
நீர், நிலம் வாழும் ஆமை ஆனான்.

பூமியை மீட்டு, முன் போல் நிறுத்த,
பூமியில் வாழும் வராகமானான்.
மிருகமும், மனிதனும் கலந்த ஒரு
உருவமாக நரசிம்மன் ஆனான்.

குறு மனிதனாய் வாமனனாகி, பின்
முழு வடிவில் பரசுராமன், ரகுராமன்,
கண்ணன், பலராமன் என்பவர்களாக,
கண் நிறையும் படி அவதரித்தான்!

அரிய ஆராய்ச்சியால் டார்வின் அறிந்ததை,
புரிய வைத்தான் எளிதாய் நம் இறைவனே!
விஞ்ஞானிகளுக்குள் எல்லாம் மிகப் பெரிய
விஞ்ஞானியும், மெய்ஞானியும் அவன்தானே!

CREATION AND EVOLUTION.

Scientists postulated the theory of Creation and Evolution. God had enacted it in his dasa avatArs.

The theory states that the first form of live appeared in water. It was followed by the amphibians – which can live in water and on land. Then came the land living animals followed by human beings.

To protect the VEdAs God appeared as a giant Fish – a water living organism.

To support the Mandhara giri during Amrutha mathanam, He aasumed the form of a giant tortoise- an amphibian which can live on land and in water.

To recover the earth from under water, He became VarAhA Moorthi – a land living animal.

The next avatAr was the half lion and half man- Narahari.

This was followed by the vAmana avatAr, where He is a short boy. The following avatArs were full grown powerful men namely Parasu RAmA, Raghu RAmA, BalarAmA and KrisnhnA.

What scientists have proved with great difficulties, God has demonstrated by his avatArs so easily.

He is the greatest of all great scientists and great GnAnis.

# 54 (a). அகத்தியர் பெருமை

குற்றங்கள் நீங்கிய புலவர் நக்கீரன்
முற்றிலும் விரும்பியது சிவ வழிபாடு!

சிந்திக்கச் சிந்திக்க அவன் மனம் நன்கு
பந்தப்பட்டுவிட்டது சிவபெருமானிடம்.

நெற்றிக் கண்ணால் எரித்தார் சிவன்,
அற்புத வடிவழகன் ஆகிய மன்மதனை!

அரியும், அயனும் காத்தருளவில்லை,
அரனின் தீப்பார்வையில் இருந்து அவனை!

என்னைக் காத்தது பொற்றாமரைக் குளம்.
என்னை எக்காலமும் காக்கும் இக்குளம்.

முக்காலமும் முங்கிக் குளித்துவிட்டு கீரன்,
முக்கண்ணனைத் தொடர்ந்து வழிபட்டான்.

நக்கீரனின் தீவிரபக்தி பாவத்தை அறிந்த
முக்கண்ணனும் மனம் குளிர்ந்து விட்டான்.

சங்கப் புலவன் ஆன பிறகும் கூடக் கீரன்
தங்கத் தமிழைப் பிழையின்றி அறியவில்லை!

வழா நிலைச் சொல், வழூஉச் சொற்களில்
வழுக்கி விழுவது வழக்கம் ஆகிவிட்டது.

“குற்றமற்ற இலக்கணத்தை போதித்தருள
முற்றிலும் பொருத்தமான ஒரு குரு யார்?”

தங்க வண்ணனின் இந்தக் கேள்விக்கு
அங்கயற்கண்ணி அம்மை பதில் ஈந்தாள்.

“தங்களுக்கு நிகரானவர் நம் அகத்தியர்!
மங்கள லோபமுத்திரையோ எனக்கு நிகர்!

அன்று ஒருநாள் கயிலையங்கிரியில்
வந்து குழுமினர் தேவர், முனிவர்கள்;

கூடி விட்டவர் பாரத்தின் விளைவாக
மேடிட்டு விட்டது தென்பகுதி அன்று!

தாழ்ந்து விட்டது வடகிழக்கு பிரதேசம்,
உயர்ந்து விட்டது தென்மேற்கு பிரதேசம்.

சமன் செய்து உலகினைக் காத்தருள
தமர் அனுப்பினீர் அகத்திய முனிவரை!”

# 54 (a). THE GREATNESS OF SAGE AGASTHYAA

Keeran had overcome all his follies and defects. The more he thought about Lord Siva, the more he got attracted by Him and attached to Him.

Siva had scorched the beautiful God of Love Manmathan. Neither Brahma nor Vishnu could save him. But the Pond of Golden Lotuses had saved Keeran from the wrath of Siva and his fiery glance.

He said to himself, “The pond will save me always.” He made it his discipline to bathe in it three times a day and worship Siva.

Siva noticed the change in Keeran and felt kindly disposed to him. Even though Keenan was a Sanga poet, his writings were not devoid of certain mistakes.

Someone should teach him Tamil grammar! But who was the right person for this task?

Meenaakshi Devi replied to Him,
“You have told me several times that sage Agasthyaa is as great as yourself and his wife Loba mudra is equal to me in her greatness.

Once the balance of the earth was disturbed – since all the Devas and rishis assembled in Kailash.

The North dipped and the South rose up. Agasthyaa was sent by you to restore the balance of the earth! Do you remember?”

2#2d. வியாசர்

கருவுற்று ஈன்றாள் சத்யவதி அப்போதே!
பிறந்தது ஆண் குழந்தை நதிக் கரையில்!

மன்மதனை ஒத்த பொலிவு கொண்டவன்;
மண் திடலில் மகனாக வந்து பிறந்தான்.

தவ வலிமையால் பிறந்த மகன் – தன்
தாயின் முகம் பார்த்துப் பேசலானான்.

“உத்தம காலம் உண்டாகும் போதும்,
புத்திரன் நினைவு உண்டாகும் போதும்

உன்னைத் தேடி வருவேன் என் தாயே!
உண்டாகட்டும் உனக்கு சர்வ மங்களம்!

பிரிந்து உன் பாதையில் நீ செல்லலாம்!
பிரிவதற்கு கொள்ள வேண்டாம் வருத்தம்.

வாழ்வாய் எப்போதும் நிறைவான சிறப்புடன்;
தாழ்விலாத தவம் செய்யப் போகிறேன் நான். “

கானகம் சென்று விட்டான் – ஒரு நதியின்
கரையில் பிறந்த த்வைபாயன வியாசன்.

தீர்த்தங்கள் தோறும் முங்கிக் குளித்தான்;
பூர்த்தி செய்தான் தன்னுடைய கர்மங்களை.

வகைப்படுதினான் நான்கு வேதங்களை!
வரைந்தான் பதினெட்டுப் புராணங்களை!

முறைப்படி உபதேசித்தான் சீடர்களுக்கு
வரைந்த புராணங்கள், இதிகாசங்களை.

மச்ச்கந்தியின் மேல் பராசரர் கொண்ட
இச்சையினால் அவதரித்தான் வியாசன்

மங்களகரமானது அவன் பிறப்பு – ஒழிப்பர்
தங்களது பாவங்களை இதைக் கேட்பவர்கள்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

இறைவன் காண்பதற்கு மிக அரியவன்,
இறைவன் அடைவதற்கும் மிக அரியவன்;
இறையருள் இன்றி எந்த முயற்சிகளும்,
இயலாது செய்வதற்கு, எந்த மனிதனாலும்!

விக்கித்து நின்று, இப்படிக் கூறும் நாம்,
முக்திக்கு முயற்சி செய்வதும் இல்லை.
இறைவன் மிகவும் அரியவன் ஆயினும்,
அடைவது இயலும், நாம் முயன்றால்!

உணவு, உடைகள், உறையுள் என்பவை,
உலகில் மனிதரின் தேவைகள் என்பார்.
இது பற்றிச் சற்றுச் சிந்தித்தால் புரியும்,
எது உயிர் வாழ மிகவும் தேவை என்பது!

உணவே இல்லாமலும் கூட ஒரு மனிதன்,
உணர்வுடன் இருப்பான் நீண்ட நாட்கள்.
உழைத்திடும் உடைகளும் உறுதியாகவே,
கிழிந்து, நைந்து கீழே விழும் வரையில்.

உறையுள் என்பது வெறும் பகல் கனவே,
தெருவில் உறங்கும் பல மனிதருக்கே.
இவை அன்றித் தேவை ஓர் உயிர் வாழ,
சுவை மிகு நீரும், சுத்தமான காற்றுமே!

நீர் நம் உடலுக்கு அவசியம் ஆயினும்,
நீர் அருந்தாமல் வாழ இயலும் பல நாள்;
காற்றுத்தான் மனிதனின் பிராண சக்தி;
காற்று இன்றி எத்தனை நேரம் வாழஇயலும்?

மூழ்கிய நீரில் மனிதன் ஒருவன், தன்
மூச்சு காற்றுக்குத் தவிப்பது போலவே,
பக்தியுடன் பரமனை எண்ணிப் பரிதவித்தால்,
முக்தி அளிப்பான் நமக்கு அவன் நிச்சயம்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன்,
விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

THE WAY TO MUKTHI.

God can’t be seen by us! God can’t be reached bu us! God can’t be understood by us – without His infinite grace and assistance. We keep repeating these words and do not even try for liberation or mukti.

God is great no doubt. But He can be reached if we try hard enough!

There are three fundamental requirements of a man. He needs food, cloths and a place to live in / a house.

A man can survive for a number of days without food. He can live with minimal clothes for a long time. Owning a house is a pipe dream to most of the people below poverty line – living on platforms and slums.

So what is really essential for a human being to survive?

Drinking water and fresh air to breathe!

A man can live for a few weeks without drinking water but can he live without air beyond a few minutes?

If we try as desperately to see God, as we would try for a breath of fresh air, when held under water, we are sure to see God. We do not try hard enough!

54b. இலக்கணம் போதித்தது

“செந்தமிழ் நாடு செல்லும் அகத்தியருக்குப்
பைந்தமிழ் இலக்கணம் கற்றுத் கொடுத்தீர்!

ஆண்டுகள் பல உருண்டோடியதால்,
ஆண்டவனைக் காண அவரும் விழைவார்.

அகத்தியரின் உதவியுடன் தாங்கள்
இகத்தில் கற்றுத் தரலாம் இலக்கணம்;

நக்கீரன் என்று மட்டும் இல்லாமல்
நண்பர்களும் நல்ல பயன் பெறலாம்.”

இறைவன் நினைத்தார் அகத்திய முனிவரை,
குறைவறத் திருவுளக் குறிப்பினை அறிந்து;

தவம் என்னும் விமானம் ஏறி மனைவியுடன்
சிவம் விளங்கும் ஆலவாயினை அடைந்தார்.

காலம் கனிந்து விட்டது! நேரம் கூடி வந்தது!
ஞாலம் செய்யாததையும் காலம் செய்யுமே!

இறையருளும் குருவருளும் ஒன்று சேரக்
குறைவற்ற உபதேசம் அங்கே தொடங்கியது.

சோம சுந்தரர் பணித்தார் அகத்தியரை
வாமனரூபமும் ஞானமும் கொண்டவரை.

“அழகிய தமிழின் அரிய இலக்கணத்தைப்
பழுதின்றிக் கற்றுக்கொடு புலவன் கீரனுக்கு!”

நல்லிலக்கணத்தை நன்கு போதித்தார்.
நல்லிணக்கத்துடன் நக்கீரனுக்கு அவர்.

ஐயம் திரிபறக் கற்றுத் தந்தார் கீரனுக்கு,
ஐயன் அருள் பெற்ற அகத்திய முனிவர்.

இலக்கணம் கற்றுத் தந்த முனிவரின்
இலட்சணத்தில் மயங்கிவிட்ட பிரான்;

அரிய வரங்களை அருளினார்; மேலும்
பிரியா விடையும் கொடுத்து அனுப்பினார்!

தான் இயற்றிய செய்யுளின் தவறுகளைத்
தானே திருத்திக் கொண்டார் நக்கீரன்.

இறையின் கவிதையில் குற்றம் சொன்ன
குறைகளுக்காக உள்ளம் வருந்தினான்.

பைந்தமிழ் இலக்கணத்தை மனம் உவந்து
செந்தமிழ் புலவர்களுக்கும் கற்றுத்தந்தான்.

சொல்லிலக்கணம் கற்றறிந்த புலவர்கள்
நல்லிலக்கணக் கவிதை புனையலாயினர்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

# 54 (B). TEACHING KEERAN TAMIL GRAMMAR

“Before the sage Agasthyaa was sent to South, you had taught him Tamil Grammar. May be he can help you now in teaching Keeran.

I am sure he too will be yearning for your dharshan after all these years!” Devi Meenaakshi spoke to Lord Siva thus.

Siva thought about the sage Agasthyaa. The sage could know immediately what was in Siva’s mind.

He flew to Thiru Aalawai in the Vimaanam created by his ‘tapo shakthi’, along with his wife.

So the time became ripe for the teaching of Tamil grammar to the poet Keeran.
Agasthyaa taught Keeran so well that Siva was immensely pleased with the sage and granted him several boons before bidding him farewell.

Now Keeran was able to locate the mistakes in his own compositions and correct them. He taught the Tamil grammar he had learned to all his friends- the Sanga Poets.

All of them started writing much better poetry after that.

2#3a. மஹாபிஷன்

இக்ஷ்வாகு வம்சத்து மன்னன் மஹாபிஷன்;
இஷ்டத்துடன் செய்தான் பற்பல யாகங்கள்.

அஸ்வமேத யாகம் ஆயிரம் முறை செய்தான்;
வாஜ்பேய யாகத்தை நூறு முறை செய்தான்.

இந்திரப் பதவியை அடைந்து விட்டான்;
அந்தமில்லாத போக வாழ்வு வாழ்ந்தான்.

பிரமனைக் காணச் சென்றான் ஒருமுறை.
பிரமன் சபையில் இருந்தால் கங்கா தேவி.

வீசியது காற்று; விலகியது அவள் சேலை.
கூசி விலக்கினர் சபையோர் தம் கண்களை!

நோக்கினான் காமத்தோடு மஹாபிஷன் அவளை.
நோக்கினாள் மகாபிஷனைக் காதலோடு கங்கை!

உறவாடின கண்கள் கலந்து அச்சபையினில்;
மறந்துவிட்டனர் பிறர் அங்கு இருப்பதையே!

கோபம் கொண்டான் இது கண்ட பிரமன்;
சாபம் தந்தான் அவ்விருவருக்கும் பிரமன்!

‘சிற்றின்பத்தை விழைந்தீர்கள் இருவரும்!
சிற்றின்பத்தை அனுபவிப்பீர் பூவுலகினில்.

புண்ணியங்கள் செய்து சாபம் தீர்ந்ததும்
விண்ணுலகம் வந்தடைவீர்கள் மீண்டும்!”

விலகிச் சென்றனர் மன வருத்தத்தோடு.
நிலவுலகினில் யாராக எங்கே பிறப்பது?

சிந்தித்தான் மஹாபிஷன் மிகத் தீவிரமாக.
வந்தனைக்குரிய ஒரு மன்னன் புரூரவன்.

பிரகாசித்தான் அவன் வம்சத்தில் தோன்றிய
பிரதீபன் என்னும் அரசன் மிகுந்த புகழுடன்.

பிறந்தால் பிரதீபனின் மகனாகப் பிறந்திட
உறுதி பூண்டான் மஹாபிஷன் மனத்தில்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷிரமணி
