#26c. மனமோகினி

வரம் பெற்றவர் வலிமை பெறுவர்;
வலிமை பெற்றவர் கொடுமை புரிவர்.

பாரினில் அன்றும் இன்றும் என்றும்
மாறாமல் நிகழ்வது இதுவே அன்றோ?

தேவர்கள் அஞ்சினர் விரோச்சனனிடம் ;
தேவர்கள் கெஞ்சினர் விஷ்ணுவிடம்;

அபயம் அளித்தார் அவர் தேவர்களுக்கு
அழகிய மோகினி வடிவம் எடுத்தார்!

மனமோகினி அசுரன் முன் வந்தாள்;
மயங்கி விட்டான்அசுரன் அவளிடம்.

"தேவகன்னியோ? கந்தர்வ கன்னியோ?"
தேடிச் சென்றான் அவளிடம் அசுரன்!

மாயையை அறியவில்லை சிறிதும்;
மயக்கம் வளர்ந்து பெருகியது விரகம்.

இழுத்த இழுப்புக்கு வளைந்தான்;
பழுக்கக் காய்ச்சிய இரும்பு போல!

"அசுரர் அரசே! பாக்கியம் எனதே!
பேச இயலுமோ உன் பராக்கிரமத்தை?

நேசம் பெருகுகிறது உன் வலிமை கண்டு!
நெஞ்சம் விரும்புகிறது உன் நெருக்கத்தை!

உறுதி ஒன்று வைத்துள்ளேன் நெடுநாளாக;
அருகில் நெருங்குமுன் எண்ணெய்க் குளியல்.

விரும்பினால் செய்விக்கின்றேன் ஸ்நானம்;
விருப்பத்தை நிறைவேற்றுவேன் அதன்பின்!

தையல் மேல்கொண்ட அதீத மையலால்
மெய் மறந்தே போனான் விரோசனன்.

அமர்ந்தான் கிரீடத்தைக் கழற்றிவிட்டு,
ஆயிரம் சுக்கலானது சிரம், கரம் பட்டதும்!

சூரியன் தந்த வரம் அசுரனைக் காக்கும்,
அரிய கிரீடம் தலை மீது உள்ளவரையே!

#26C. The bewitching beauty

The person who gets special boons becomes stronger. The person who becomes stronger becomes a terror to the others. That was what happened in the past, happens in the present and will continue to happen in the future.

Virochanan became a terror to the Deva. They sought Vishnu's help. Vishnu gave them abhayam and transformed himself into a beautiful mohini.

Mohini came in front of Virochanan. He was dazed by her bewitching beauty. He wondered "Is she a Deva kanya or a Gandharva kanya?" He went closer to her.

The mohini spoke to him in a sweet voice."I have heard about your valor and victories. It will be my pleasure to associate with you. I am deeply in love with you. i want to have intimacy with you.

But I have a rule which I follow very strictly. The closeness will follow a nice relaxing oil bath. I can bathe you if you will permit me. After that I will fulfill your desires."

Virochanan was like a red hot iron rod which could be bent into any shape. He forgot himself, his boons, the warning which go with the boons. He removed his kireetam and sat there to be bathed by the mohini.

The moment her hand touched his head, it blew up into one hundred pieces. The boon and the crown given by the Sun God will protect him only as long as he was wearing it on his head.
 
#26d. மாவலி

மாவலி விரோச்சனனின் மைந்தன்;
மகாபலம் பொருந்திய அசுர அரசன்.

கடும் தவம் செய்தான் சிவனைக் குறித்து.
அரும் வரங்கள் பெற்றான் பெருமானிடம்.

குருவிடம் கேட்டான் அரிய கேள்வி,
"பெறுவது எப்படி நான் இந்திரப் பதவி?"

"நூறு அஸ்வமேத யாகத்தின் பயனே
யாவரும் விரும்பிடும் இந்திரப் பதவி!"

"செய்வேன் அஸ்வமேத யாகங்கள்!
எய்துவேன் நிகரில்லா இந்திரப்பதவி."

முனிசிரேஷ்டர்கள் வந்து குவிந்தனர்;
முடிந்தது தொண்ணூற்று ஒன்பது யாகம்.

தொடங்கி விட்டது நூறாவது யாகம்.
முடிந்து விட்டால் பறிபோகும் பதவி.

பதவியை விட யாருக்கு சம்மதம்?
பதறி ஓடினான் மஹா விஷ்ணுவிடம்.

ஆறுதல் கூறினார் அவர் இந்திரனுக்கு,
"ஆவான செய்வேன் யாகம் தடைபட !

ஒழுக்கம் தவறாத மாவலியை வெல்ல
வழக்கமான உபாயங்கள் பயன் தரா!

மாவலியின் வலிமையைக் கொண்டே
மாவலியின் யாகத்தைக் குலைப்பேன்!"

அதிதி வேண்டினாள் ஹரியை மகனாக;
அதிதியிடம் அவதரித்தார் வாமனனாக.

தந்தை கச்யபரிடம் கேட்டான் வாமனன்,
இந்திரன் பதவி நிலைத்திட வேண்டும்.

மாவலியின் யாகம் தடைபட வேண்டும்.
ஆவன கூறுவீர் இவை நிறைவேறிட !"

26d. Mahaa Bali

Mahaa Bali was the son of Virochanan. As his names suggested he was mighty and valorous beyond words. He did severe penance towards Lord Siva and got many boons from him.

One day he asked his Guru, "How can I attain the position of Indra?" The guru replied that performing one hundred aswamedha yaaga would confer the power and position of Indra on any person.

Mahaa Bali decided to perform one hundred aswamedha yaaga and become the new Indra. All the sages and rushis were were brought to his palace and they completed ninety nine yaagas successfully. The hundredth yaaga was started.
,
Indra panicked since he would be dislodged by the New Indra from his powerful position. He ran to Mahaa Vishnu for help and guidance. Vishnu consoled him and said,

"I shall interrupt and ruin the hundredth yaagam. Then you will be safe. But since Mahaabali is a person of Integrity and character, the usual saama, daana, bedha and dandam will not work here. I will use his might and greatness against him and ruin his yaaga."

Aditi had wished that Vishnu should be born as her son. Vishnu used this opportunity to fulfill both these missions. He was born to Aditi and sage Kasyapa as Vamana

Vamana asked his father, "Sir! tell me how to ruin Mahaa Bali's yaagam and help Indra retain his power and position?"
 
#26 e. வாமனன்

"விநாயகர் அருளால் முடியும் அது!"
விநாயகர் மந்திரத்தைக் கற்பித்தார்.

வன்னி மரத்தடியில் அமர்ந்து கொண்டு
விநாயகனை தியானித்தான் வாமனன்.

மயில் வாகனத்தில் தோன்றினார் ஐயன்;
மாவலியை வெல்லும் திறன் அளித்தார்.

மரத்தடியில் அமைத்தான் விநாயகனை.
முடித்துக் கொண்டான் ஆராதனைகளை.

வாமனன் சென்றான் மாவலி யாகத்துக்கு.
வாமனனை வரவேற்றான் மன்னன் மாவலி .

"தாங்கள் விழைவது என்னவோ சுவாமி?"
"தவம் செய்யத் தேவை மூன்றடி மண்!"

"மூன்று உலகங்களையும் தருகின்றேன்!
மூன்று அடி மண் எதற்கு போதும்?" என

"மூன்றடி மண்ணால் நிறைவு எய்தாதவன்
மூன்று உலகங்களாலும் நிறைவெய்தான்!"

குலகுரு கண்டு கொண்டார் வாமனனை!
வலியிடம் கூறினார் "மாயாவி விஷ்ணு

இந்திரன் பதவியைக் காத்துக் கொடுக்க
வந்துள்ளான் இன்று இந்த உருவில் இங்கு!

வாக்குத் தானே அளித்துள்ளாய் நீ! நீர்
வார்த்து தத்தம் செய்யாதே!" என்றார்.

"நாராயணன் நாடி வந்தால் நம்மை
நமக்கல்லவோ வந்து சேரும் பெருமை!

வாக்கை மறுத்துச் செழிப்பதைவிட
வாக்குக் கொடுத்து அழிவதே மேல்.

சொல்லே போதும் வாக்கு அளிக்க
இல்லை தேவை நீர் வார்த்துத் தர!"

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
# 26 e. Vaamanan

Sage Kasyapa said, "It is possible only for Vinayaka. Pray to him". He taught Vaamana the Vinayaka mantra. Vamana sat under a vanni tree and concentrated on Vinayaka.

Vinayaka appeared on his peacock vaahana and blessed Vaamana with the power to conquer Mahaa Bali. Vaamana did prathishta of a Vinayaka statue under the vanni tree and went to the yaaga saala.

Mahaa Bali was duly impressed by this little brahmachaari's brahma tejas. He paid obeisance and asked Vaamana,
"What do you wish for swami? Vaamana replied, " I need three foot lengthof land for doing tapas"

"Mahaa Bali was amused. "What is the use of three foot length of land with your tiny feet? I shall bestow the three worlds on you swami"

Vaamana said, "One who is not contented with three foot length of land will not be contended with the three worlds either. I need only three foot lengths with my own feet"

Sukracharya identified vaamana as Vishnu in disguise. He warned Mahaa Bali," This little brahmin is Vishnu in disguise. His aim is to help Indra retain his power and position."

Mahaa Bali was thrilled now. "If Vishnu himself comes to me asking for something it will only add to my greatness."
The guru persisted. "You have only committed orally. Do not pour water and gift the land to this brahmin"

Mahaa Bali said, "It is better to be ruined trying to uphold my words rather than live in disgrace by going back on my promise. My words are as good as the gifting with water poured."

 
#26f. விஸ்வரூபம்

தாரை வார்க்க முயன்றான் மாவலி,
தண்ணீர் நிரம்பிய கமண்டலத்தால்.

"என் வார்த்தையைத் தட்டுகின்றான்;
தன் அழிவை நாடுகின்றான் இவன்!"

ஆதங்கம் ஏற்பட்டது குலகுருவுக்கு;
"எதாவது செய்து தடுக்க வேண்டும்."

எடுத்தார் ஒரு சிறு வண்டின் வடிவை!
அடைத்தார் நீர் வருகின்ற துவாரத்தை.

வாமனன் கண்டான் ஞான திருஷ்டியில்;
வண்டைக் குத்தினான் சிறிய குச்சியால்!

கண்ணில் அந்தக் குச்சி பாய்ந்து விட்டது;
வண்டின் கண் ஒன்று குருடாகி விட்டது!

தன் காலால் மூன்றடி மண் கேட்ட சிறுவன்
தான் வளர்ந்தான் வானளாவாக வாமனன்!

ஓரடியால் அளந்தான் மண்ணுலகை எல்லாம்!
ஓரடியால் அளந்தான் விண்ணுலகை எல்லாம்!

இடம் இல்லை மூன்றாவது அடியை வைக்க!
இடம் தந்தான் கால் வைக்க மாவலி சிரசில்.

தலையைக் காலால் அழுத்தி மாவலியைத்
தலைவன் ஆக்கினான் பாதள உலகிற்கு.

சிவன் அருள் பெற்றவன் மாவலி மன்னன்;
அவனைத் தொழுகின்றான் அங்கிருந்தபடி!

வன்னிப் பத்திரத்தின் பெருமையைக் கூற
இன்னும் ஒரு கதை சொன்னார் பிரமன்.

#26f. Thrivikraman

Mahaa Bali wanted to pour the dhaarai from his kamandalam. Kulaguru got agitated since Mahaa Bali was not listening to his sound advice and was leaping towards his own destruction.

He had to do something to stop the daanam of land. He transformed himself into small beetle and sat blocking the outlet of water of the kamandalam. Water would not come out of the kamandalam.

Vaamana knew the reason and thrust a thin stick in to the nozzle of the kamandalam. It poked one of the eyes of the beelte. Sukracharya came out blinded in one eye.

The gift of land was given. The little brahmachaari who wanted three foot lengths of land grew towering to the sky as Trivikrama. He measured the entire earth in step, he measured the entire heavens with his second step.

There we no place to keep the foot now. Mahaa Bali offered his head to Trivikarama for placing his foot. Tri Vikrama pushed him to Paatala lokam and made him the king there.

Maha Bali who is a devotee of lord Siva lives there even today worshiping his god. Brahma related one more story to bring out the greatness of vanni patram.
 
#27a . கீர்த்தி

பரமசிவன் அமர்ந்திருந்தார் கயிலையில்
பார்வதியுடனும், சிவ கணங்களுடனும்.

"வன்னிப் பத்திரத்தில் மகன் கணபதிக்கு
என்ன காரணத்தால் இத்தனை பிரியம்?"

பார்வதி தேவி கேட்டாள் பரமசிவனிடம்.
பார்வதிக்குப் பரமசிவன் கூறினார் இதை.

பிரியவிரதன் ஒரு மிகவும் நல்ல அரசன்;
அரிய பல தருமங்கள் செய்து வந்தான்.

கீர்த்தி பரவி இருந்தது உலகு எங்கும்;
கீர்த்தி, பிரபை என்று அரசியர் இருவர்!

பிரபை அழகிய இளம் மனைவி.
பிரியம் சற்று அதிகம் அவள் மீது.

பெரியவள் கீர்த்தி நல்ல குணவதி.
குறையாத அன்பு கொண்டிருந்தாள்.

பத்மநாபன் பிறந்தான் பிரபைக்கு;
பாஞ்சாலன் மகளை மணந்தான்.

பெருமை ஓங்கி விட்டது பிரபைக்கு
பெரியவளை மதிப்பதே இல்லை.

கணவனைக் காண வந்தாள் கீர்த்தி.
கணவன் இருந்தான் பிரபை அறையில்.

எரிந்து விழுந்தாள் கீர்த்தி மீது பிரபை!
எட்டி உதைத்தும் தள்ளினாள் கீழே.

கண்டும் காணாது இருந்த கணவனைக்
கண்டு மனம் வெதும்பினாள் கீர்த்தி.

சக்களத்தியின் வெறுப்பு சஹஜமே!
சக்களத்திக்குத் துணை கணவனுமா?

உயிர் வாழ்வதில் பயன் இல்லையோ?
உலகமே இருண்டுபோய்க் காட்சி தந்தது.

#27a. Keerti

Siva was seated in Kailash with Parvathi and the siva ganas. Parvathi asked Siva, "Why does Ganapathy love the Vanni patram so much?" Siva told her this story.

Priya Vrathan was a good natured king. He took good care of his country and citizens and did a lot of charitable work. His fame had spread all over the world. His two queens were Keerti and Prabha. He was very fond of his younger queen Prabha. Keerthi the elder queen was treated with indifference.

Prabha had a son called Padmanaabhan. he grew up and married the daughter of the king of Paanchaalaa. So Prabha became even more arrogant and haughty. She treated with contempt the elder queen Keerthi.

One day Keerthi came to meet her husband who was in Prabha's room at that time. Prabha abused her and kicked her down on the floor. The king saw the happening but remained silent.

Keerthi felt very bad by the king's indifference. It was usual for the other wife to hate her but if her husband also joined hand with her, what is the point in her living?



 
#27b. வன்னிப் பத்திரம்

நொந்த மனத்துடன் வருந்தியவளிடம்
வந்தான் புரோகிதன் ஒருவன் அப்போதே.

"கஷ்டங்கள் தீர்ந்துவிடும் தாயே - தாங்கள்
இஷ்டத்துடன் வினாயகரை பூஜித்தால்.

மனக் குறை நீங்கும், வாழ்வு செழிக்கும்;
கணவன் அன்பு கிடைக்கும் மீண்டும்!"

மனக் கவலை உடனே ஒழிந்தாள் கீர்த்தி;
தினமும் தொழுதாள் விதிப்படி ஐயனை.

தோழியர் சேகரித்து வந்த அறுகம் புல்
வேழமுகன் அர்ச்சனைக்குப் பயன்பட்டது.

அறுகம் புல் கிடைக்கவில்லை ஒருநாள்!
அருகில் இருந்த வன்னி இலை கிடைத்தது.

"அறுகம் புல் இல்லாத விநாயக பூஜையா?
அறுகம் புல்லுக்கு ஈடாகுமோ வன்னி இலை?

இறைவா பொறுத்தருளும் இக்குறையை
அறுகம் புல் இல்லாத இந்த பூஜையை "

அறுகம் புல்லால் பூஜை செய்யாத
குறை நீங்கிட இருந்தாள் உபவாசம்.

காலையில் தோன்றினார் கனவில் கணபதி!
"கவலை வேண்டாம் என்னைப் பார்" என்றார்.

அர்ச்சனை செய்த வன்னி இலை எல்லாம்
உற்சாகமாக இருந்தன உச்சந்தலையில்!

"மறுக வேண்டாம் அறுகம் புல்லுக்காக.
சிறந்த வன்னி இலைகள் இருக்கையில்"

கண்களில் பெருகியது ஆனந்தக் கண்ணீர்!
கண்கண்ட கணபதியைத் தொழுதாள் அவள்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
#27b. The leaves of Vanni tree

When Keerthi was considering ending her life a prohit approached her from nowhere. He told her," All you troubles will be removed if you pray to Vinayaka with love. Your worries will disappear. Your life will become happy. You will win your husband's love and affection"

Keerthi felt a little more cheerful. She started doing puja to Vinayaka in the prescribed manner. Her friends gathered enough green grass for the daily puja.

But on one day they could not find a single green grass fit for the puja. Keerthi had to perform the puja with the leaves of the Vanni tree instead.

She was not happy about her puja without the grass arcs. She went on upavaasam to nullify the defect in her puja.
Early in the morning she had a vivid dream. Vinayaka appeared in it and spoke to her,

" Look at me my child!" She looked up and saw all the leaves of the Vanni offered by her still stuck to the head of her god. "Do not worry if you can't get the green grass. I like the leaves of Vanni tree equally well"

She was overcome with joy and shed tears of happiness. God had accepted happily what she imagined to be her defective puja.


 
#27c. கிப்பிரப் பிரசாதன்

"மனக் கவலையை விட்டு விடு குழந்தாய்!
மணாளனின் அன்பு கிடைக்கும் மீண்டும்.

மகிழ்வாய் மனம் அன்பு மகன் பிறப்பான்,
திகழ்வான் கிப்பிரப்பிரசாதன் பெயரில்.

மாற்றாந்தாய் இடுவாள் விஷம் மகனுக்கு.
மாற்றி விடுவார் கிருச்சதமர் விஷத்தை.

நெடுங் காலம் வாழ்வான் உன் மகன்!
விடுவாய் கவலையை இனி இன்பமே!"

தூக்கம் கலைந்தது, கண் விழித்தாள்;
தாக்கம் நீடித்தது மேலும் பல நாட்கள்!

வெப்பு நோய் உண்டானது பிரபைக்கு.
வெறுத்தான் பிரிய விரதன் பிரபையை.

கீர்த்தியை நாடினான் முன்போலவே.
கீர்த்தி ஈன்றாள் அழகிய ஆண் மகனை.

கணபதி கனவில் கூறியது போன்றே
கண்ணனின் பெயர் கிப்பிரப் பிரசாதன்.

நாளொரு மேனி, பொழுதொரு வண்ணம்;
நன்கு வளர்ந்தான் கிப்பிரப் பிரசாதன்.

"இல்லை அரசுக் கட்டில் பத்மநாபனுக்கு !
தொல்லையே இச் சிறுவன் உள்ளவரை!"

கிப்பிரப் பிரசாதன் உண்ணும் உணவில்
எப்படியோ நஞ்சைக் கலந்தாள் பிரபை.

நினைவின்றி சுருண்டான் உண்டவுடன்;
அனைத்து வைத்தியரும் முயற்சித்தனர்.

மணி, மந்திரம், மருந்துகள் தோற்றன!
கணபதி கூறியது நினைவுக்கு வந்தது.

காக்க வல்லவர் கிருச்சதமர் ஒருவரே!
தூக்கிக்கொண்டு ஓடினாள் தன் மகனை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#27c. Kippirap Prasad

Vinayaka spoke to Keerthi in her dream," Do not worry any more my dear child. You will win your husband's love and attention once again. You will get a good son named Kippira Prasad. The other queen will poison his food. But Kruchadamar will save your son. Kippira Prasad will live a long happy life. Your days of sorrow are over. It will be only happiness in the future."

Keerthi woke up from the dream. It had strong influence on her for a long time. Prabha developed a disease which left her unsightly. The king was not in love with her any more. He came back to Keerthi. Soon they were blessed with a male child . It was named as Kippira Prasad. The child was smart and grew up well.

Prabha knew that as long as this little boy lived, her son Padmanaabhan could never become the king of the country. She managed to poison the food kept for the young prince.

The child ate the food and fell down unconscious. The King's vaidhyas rushed in and tried everything they knew. The treatment with gem, with chanting and with medicines all failed. Keerthi remembered her dream vividly. The only person who could save her son was Kruchchadamar. She carried her son and ran to the ashram of Kruchchadamar.





 
#27d . கிருச்சதமர்

வாரியணைத்த சிறுவனுடன் செல்கையில்
ஆவி பிரிந்தது பாதி வழி செல்கையில்.

"தெய்வ வாக்குப் பொய்க்கலாகுமா?' என்று
செய்வதறியாமல் கதறி அழுதாள் கீர்த்தி.

ஞான திருஷ்டியில் நடந்ததைக் கண்டார்;
போனார் அவளிடம் கிருச்சதமர் விரைந்து.

"தாயே! கலங்காதே மகன் பிழைத்தெழதத்
தத்தம் செய் வன்னிப் பத்திர பூஜாபலனை!"

வன்னிப் பத்திரத்தால் கணபதியை பூஜித்த
புண்ணிய பலனைத் தத்தம் செய்தவுடன்;

விஷக் கொடுமை நீங்கிய கிப்பிரப் பிரசாதன்
விழித்து எழுந்தான் நீண்ட உறக்கத்திலிருந்து!

தாயும், மகனும் வலம் வந்து வணங்கினர்,
தந்தை போல் வந்து காத்த தயாபரனை.

"அறுகம்புல் இல்லையே என நான் மனம்
மறுகியபடி பூசித்தேன் வன்னி இலையால்!

விஷத்தை வெல்லும் மகிமை அதற்கு
விளைந்தது எப்படி கூறுங்கள் ஸ்வாமி!"

"வாயினால் வன்னி என்ற மாத்திரத்தில்,
வாக்கினால் விளைந்த பாவம் மறையும்!

மனதினால் வன்னியை நினைத்தவுடன்,
மனதினால் விளைந்த பாவம் மறையும்.

தரிசித்து வன்னியை வலம் வந்தால்,
தீரும் உடலால் விளைந்த பாவங்கள்.

வன்னியின் பெருமையை வாயால் கூற
என்ன முயன்றாலும் முடியாது தாயே!'

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#27d. Kruchchadamar

When Keerthi was half way to the ashram of Kruchchadamar, the young prince died. She was shattered that God's words had proved false and her son was not saved by Kruchchadamar. She cried most piteously.

Kruchchadamar knew of these happenings by his gnaana drushti. He rushed out from his ashram to the place where Keerthi was crying over her son. He told her, "Do not cry oh mother! If you will give away your vanni-patra pooja-palan to your son he will come back to life."

Se gave away her vanni patra pooja palan to her son and the boy woke up as if from a long deep sleep. Keerthi was overwhelmed wtih joy. She and her son prostrated in front of the rushi who had saved the boy from death.

Keerhthi asked the sage Kruchchadamar,"Sire, once I could not get the fresh green grass for Vinayaka puja and used the leaves of the vanni tree instead. How do the vanni leaves possess so much power as to defeat deadly poison?"

Te sage replied,"It is very difficult to relate the greatness of vanni tree with mere words. The word vanni uttered will remove all the sins incurred through our speech. The thought about the vanni tree will remove all the sins incurred through our thoughts. Going round the tree will remove all the sins incurred by our actions. Vanni is too great to be spoken about in mere words."

ஔரவர் நந்திகோத்திரரின் புதல்வர்.

சுமேதை ஔரவரின் அன்பு மனைவி,
சுமேதை ஈன்றாள் சமியை மகளாக.

மணப் பருவம் எய்தினாள் சமி வளர்ந்து!
மந்தாரன் சௌனகமுனிவரின் ஒரு சீடன்.

மகளுக்கு ஏற்ற மணாளன் அவன் என்று
மகளை மந்தாரனுக்கு மணம் முடித்தனர்.

தாய் தந்தையரைக் காணச் செல்லுகையில்
தம்பதிகள் கண்டனர் தும்பிக்கை முனியை.

வேழமுகனின் உருவம் பெற்ற அவரை
ஏளனம் செய்து சிரித்தனர் இருவரும்.

புருசுண்டிக்குக் கோபம் பொங்கியது;
புருவம் நெற்றி உச்சிக்குச் சென்றது!

" என்னைக் கண்டு நகைத்த நீங்கள்
ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாத மரமாகக் கடவீர்."

சாபம் பிறந்தது கோபம் பிறந்ததால்.
தாபம் பிறந்தது சாபம் பிறந்ததால்.

மன்னிக்கும்படி வேண்டினர் முனிவரிடம்
கண்ணீர் மல்கக் கணவன் மனைவியர்.

முனிவருக்குத் தோன்றியது கனிவு.
கனிவிலிருந்து தோன்றியது கருணை.

"துதிக்கையைக் கண்டு நகைத்தீர்கள்!
துதிக்கையனால் வளரும் சிறப்புக்கள்!

நிழலில் அமர்ந்து வெளிப்படுத்துவான்
வேழமுகன் உங்கள் பெருமைகளை.

மரவுருவம் மாறாமலேயே செல்வீர்
கரிமுக நாதனிடம் காலம் முடிந்தபின்!"

மாறிவிட்டாள் வன்னி மரமாக சமி;
மாறினான் மந்தார மரமாக மந்தாரன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன் விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#27e. Vanni and Mandaaram

Nandi Gothrar was a rushi. Ouravar was his son. Sumedai , Ouravar's wife bore him a beautiful daughter named Sami. When the girl reached marriageable age they were on the look out for a suitable boy. Mandaaran was a disciple of Sounaka rushi and they got Sami married to Madaaran.

The couple went to meet his parents.On the way they met Brusundi. His elephant-like trunk made them burst out with laughter.The rushi became very angry at this immature behavior and cursed them to transform to two useless trees.

The couple were filled with remorse, fell at his feet and begged for his pardon. The sage took pity on them and said,

" You will become two tress. But Vinayaka will be worshiped under your shade and thus bring greatness to you. You will stand for long and reach the Vinayaka lokam when your time comes in the form of the trees "

Sami became the Vanni tree and Mandaaran the Mandaara tree.
 
#27f. வேழமுக வேந்தன்

சீடன் மந்தாரனைக் காணாத் சௌனக முனிவர்
சீடர்களை அனுப்பினார் ஔரவ முனிவரிடம்.

மந்தாரன் சென்றான் அன்றே மனைவியுடன்;
வந்து சேரவில்லை இன்னம் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு!

ஞான திருஷ்டியில் கண்டார் சீடன் மந்தாரன்,
மோனத்தவ முனிவரின் சாபத்தைப் பெற்றதை.

விநாயகர் அருள் பெற்ற புருசுண்டி முனிவரை
அனாவசியமாகச் சினம் ஊட்டிய பிள்ளைகள்;

சுய உருவடைய வேண்டும் என்று விரும்பிக்
கயமுகனைத் தொழுதனர் அவர் பெற்றோர்.

பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் கடந்த பின்னர்
பத்துக் கரங்களுடன் வந்தார் கணபதி.

"பக்தனின் சாபத்தை மாற்ற இயலாது!
பக்தி செய்தீர் பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள்.

ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாத மரமாக நிற்பவரை
மண்ணுலகம் போற்றிட வழி செய்வேன்!

இம்மர நிழலில் என்னைப் பூஜிப்பவருக்கு
இம்மை, மறுமை இரண்டிலும் ஆனந்தமே!"

மரங்களின் நிழலில் எழுந்தருளினார்.
மரங்களின் சிறப்புப் பல்கிப் பெருகியது.

மந்தார மலர், வன்னி இலைகள் கொண்டு
மனதாராப் பூஜித்தனர் நான்கு பெற்றோரும்.

சுமேதை சேர்ந்தாள் விநாயகர் திருவடிகளை.
சூக்ஷ்ம வடிவில் சரீரத்தை வருத்திக்கொண்டு

ஔரவர் அடைந்தார் வன்னியின் கர்ப்பத்தை.
ஔரவர் ஆகிவிட்டார் இப்போது சமீகர்ப்பர்!

அவிர்பாகம் பெற்று தேவர்களுக்குத் தரும்
அனுக்கிரஹம் பெற்றார் அந்த சமீகர்ப்பர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.


 
#27f. Lord Vinayaka

Sounaka rushi got worried since Mandhaaran never came back after his marriage. He sent his other disciples to Ouravar find out about Mandaaran. Ouravar was equally surprised since the bride and the groom had left their place soon after their wedding.

Sounakar found out the things that happened to them and how the newly weds had been cursed to become useless trees. They had made fun of Brusundi - who had a trunk in his face and resembled Vinayaka in appearance.

The parents of Mandaaran and Sami started praying to Vinayaka to deliver their children from this terrible curse and make them get back their original forms. Twelve years rolled by. Vinayaka took pity and appeared to them with his ten impressive bujam.

He told the parents, "The curse laid by my devotee cannot be removed by me. You have prayed hard for twelve long years. i shall bestow some boons on you. Those who pray to me sitting under the shade of these two trees will get happiness in this birth as well in the next." He appeared as statues under those two trees.

The parents of the couple prayed and did archanai with the vanni leaves and Mandaara flowers. Sami's mother Sumedhai merged with Vinayaka's lotus feet. Ouravar took the sooshma form and managed to reach the garbbam of the vanni tree. He became Sami grabbar- incharge of giving the havir baagam to the various Devas during a homam.




 
#27g. பிரமனின் யாகம்

பெருமானைக் குறித்துப் பொதிய மலையில்
பெரும் யாகம் ஒன்று செய்தார் பிரம்மதேவன்.

சாவித்திரி தேவியை விட்டுச் சென்றார்,
சரஸ்வதி தேவியுடன் யாகம் செய்வதற்கு.

கோபம் கொண்டாள் உதாசீனம் ஆனவள்.
சாபம் தந்தாள் யாகம் காண வந்தவருக்கு!

ஜலவுருவாகும்படி சபித்தாள் தேவர்களை.
ஜலவுருவாகி விட்டார்கள் வந்த தேவர்கள்!

அலறி அடித்துக் கொண்டு ஓடி வந்தனர்
ஜலவுருவடைந்த தேவரின் மனைவியர்.

செய்வது அறியாமல் திகைத்த பிரமன்
கைலாசபதியை தியானித்தார் மனத்தில்.

நந்தி வாகனம் மீது காட்சி தந்தார் சிவன்
"தந்தியைத் தொழுதிட மறந்து விட்டீர் நீர்!

இடையூறுக்கு ஆகும் அதுவே காரணம்.
தடைகள் நீங்கும் தொழுவீர் கணபதியை!

ஆதி காரணனை மறந்ததால் யாகம்
பாதியிலேயே நின்று விட்டது பாரும்!"

பெரிதும் வருந்தினர் தவற்றை யுணர்ந்து;
கரிமுக நாதனை பூஜித்தனர் தேவமாதர்!

மந்தார மரத்தடியில் செய்த பூஜையால்
எந்த விளைவுமே ஏற்படவில்லையே!

வன்னிப் பத்திரத்தால் அர்சிக்கும்படிச்
சொன்னது அசரீரி வாக்கு அப்போது .

வன்னிப் பத்திரத்தால் அர்ச்சித்த உடனே
எண்ணப் படிக் காட்சி அளித்தார் தந்தி.

ஏகம்ப கணபதியை நன்கு ஆராதித்து
தேவர்கள் பெற்றனர் தம் சுய உருவை.

பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் பூஜித்த பிரமன்
தன்னிரண்டு மனைவியரோடு செய்தான்.

வேழமுகனின் அருளோடு செய்த யாகம்
தாழ்வின்றி நன்றாக நடந்து முடிந்தது.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#27g. Brahma's yagna

Brahma wanted to perform a yagna in honor of lord Siva in the mountain Podigai. He left behind his wife Savithri Devi and went to the Yagna saala with his other wife Saraswathi Devi.

The neglected wife Savithi Devi became wild with anger and cursed that all the deva who had come to witness the yagna be turned to water. All the Deva including Vishnu and Indra became water.

The wives of the Deva came running and crying. Brahma was shocked beyond words. He contemplated on Lord Siva who appeared on his Nandi vaahanam.

Siva told Brahma, "You forgot to invoke the blessings of Vinayaka before you started the yagna. That is the cause of all these troubles. Worship Vinayaka and start the yagna once again with his blessings and it will be completed successfully."

Brahma and all the wives of the Deva worshiped Vinayaka under the Mandaaraatree - but nothing happened.

Then they heard an aakaashvaani telling them to do the archanani with the vanni patrams. When the vanni patra archani was done, Vinayaka appeared before them. They worshiped the ERkamba vinayaka and got back their original forms.

Brahma continued to worship Vinayaka for twelve years more. Then with the blessings of Vinayaka and the the help of both his wives, he completed the yagna successfully.




 
#27h. வன்னியின் பெருமை

"வன்னி மரத்தின் அருமை பெருமைகளைப்
பொன் எழுத்தில் நாம் பொறிக்க வேண்டும்!

செங்கதிர்க் காலையில் வன்னி தரிசனம்
அந்தண குலத்தில் பிறவியைத் தரும்.

செங்கதிர்க் காலையில் வன்னி தரிசனம்
அந்தணர்களை ஞானிகள் ஆக்கும்.

செங்கதிர்க் காலையில் வன்னி தரிசனம்
க்ஷத்திரியருக்கு வெற்றியைத் தரும்

செங்கதிர்க் காலையில் வன்னி தரிசனம்
வைசியருக்குச் செல்வத்தைத் தரும்

செங்கதிர் கலையில் வன்னி தரிசனம்
பரகதியைத் தரும் பிற மனிதருக்கு.

பார்வதிக்குப் பரமசிவன் கூறியது!"
கீர்த்திக்குக் கூறினார் கிருச்சதமர்.

"வன்னிப் பத்திரத்தால் அர்ச்சித பலன்
வாழ்வைத் தந்தது உன் பாலகனுக்கு!"

"இனி எக்காலத்திலும் எவராலும் என்
இனிய மகனுக்கு நேரக் கூடாது ஆபத்து!

விநாயக மந்திரத்தை உபதேசியுங்கள்!" என
வினயத்துடன் வேண்டினாள் கீர்த்தி - வக்கிர

துண்டனின் மந்திரத்தை உபதேசித்தார்.
"துண்டி விநாயகனை ஆராதிப்பாய் மகனே!"

"காசியில் உள்ள துண்டி விநாயகரைப்
பூசிக்கச் சொன்னதன் காரணமென்ன?"

அன்னை கீர்த்தி கேட்டதும் முனிவர்
சொன்னார் இந்த விருத்தாந்தத்தை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன் விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#27h. The greatness of Vanni patram

The greatness of the Vanni patram needs to be inscribed in letters of gold.

The dharshan of Vanni leaf early in the morning makes a person take birth as a brahmin. It makes a brahmin into a gnaani.

It gives victory to the Kshatriya and wealth to the Vaisya and a good life to the other people.

Siva had told this to Uma. Sage Kruchchadmar told these to Keerthi.

"The pooja done with Vanni leaf saved the life of your son." Kruchchadamar told keerthi.

She requested the sage to teach her son the Vinayaka mantra so that no one could harm him in the future.

The sage taught him the mantra and told him,"Go and worship the Thundi Vinayaka at Kasi"

Keerthi asked the sage, "Sire! Why do you ask us to go to Kaasi to worship the Thundi Vinayka there?"
