4 # 8 e. இருபத்து நாலாயிரவர்.

அக்கினிமுகன் விழுந்ததும் பெரும்
அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தனர் அவுணர்கள்.

படை வீர்கள் இருபத்து நாலாயிரவர்
புடை சூழ்ந்தனர் வீரவாத் தேவரை.

கணைகள், உருளைகள் , வேல், மழு
கப்பணம் சொரிந்து போர் புரிந்தனர்.

வீரவாகு வில்லை வளைத்து எய்தார்
நூறு ஆயிரம் கோடிக் கணைகள்.

உரப்பினர் அவுணர்கள் அஞ்சும்படி;
சொரிந்தார் கணைகளை மழையாக.

அவுணர்கள் படைக்கலம் இழந்தனர் .
அவுணர்கள் வெட்டுண்டு விழுந்தனர்.

அழிந்து போயின கரிகளும், பரிகளும்;
ஒழிந்து போயின தேர்கள் எல்லாம்!

பறந்தன பருந்துகள் விண்ணில்;
பரந்தது குருதியாறு மண்ணில்.

மிதக்கும் வேல்களும், வாட்களும்,
மின்னும் கயல்கள் போல் தோன்றின.

செந்நீரில் வெண் குடைகள் சென்றன
செவ்வானில் முழு நிலவைப் போலவே.

ரத, கஜ, துரக, பதாதி என்னும் நாற்படை
எதுவும் மிச்சமின்றி அழிந்து போயிற்று.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
4 # 8e. The Twenty four thousand warriors.

When Agni mukhan fell, the asura army was shocked beyond words. The twenty four thousand warriors surrounded Veerabaahu.They fought using arrows, discusses, spears, and mazhu.

Veerabaahu shot one hundred thousand crores
(one trillion) arrows. He made a terrible noise and made the asura army tremble with fear. The asura army lost all its armaments. The asuras fell down with several limbs severed.

The horses, elephants and chariots were completely destroyed. Carrion birds filed the sky. A river of fresh blood started flowing. The swords and the spears carried by that river appeared to be the fish in the river.

The White umbrellas swam in the river of blood reminding one of the full moon racing across the red sunset sky. Nothing and no one of the army was left behind alive.

 
4 # 8 f. தம்பிகளைத் தேடுதல்.

பிரிந்து நின்று போர் புரிந்தவர்கள்
திரும்பி வந்தனர் வீரவாகுவிடம்.

வீரபுரந்தரர் மட்டும் வந்தார் ஆனால்
வீரவாகு காணவில்லை மற்றவர்களை!

"ஏழு தம்பிகள் எங்கே?" என வினவவும்,
"எழுவரையும் அக்கினிமுகன் கொன்றான்

நூறு யோசனைக்கு அப்பால் உள்ள,
ஒரு ஆலமரத்தடியில்" என்றார் உக்கிரர்.

விக்கித்து நின்றார் வீரவாகுத் தேவர்;
உக்கிரரின் மொழியினைக் கேட்டதும்.

ஆலமரத்தடியை விரைந்து அடைந்தார்;
ஓலமிட்டு அழுதார் உடல்களைக் கண்டு.

அரற்றினார், புலம்பினார், தழுவினார்,
கூற்றுவன் மீதே சினம் கொண்டார்.

கணையில் எழுதினர் கூற்றுவனுக்கு.
"இணையில்லாத செவ்வேளின் இளவல்

வீரவாகு ஆகிய நான் எமனுக்கு எழுதும்
ஒரோலை இதுவே என்பதை அறிவாய்.

இளவல்களின் உயிரைக் கவர்ந்தாய்!
இளப்பமாக எண்ணாதே எங்களை!

உடனே உயிர்களைத் திருப்பிக் கொடு
உன் உயிர் உனக்கு வேண்டும் என்றால்!"

வில்லில் அக்கணையைப் பூட்டினார்.
சொல்லரும் திறனுடன் செலுத்தினார்.

கடல்களை எல்லாம் கடந்து சென்று
மடல் விழுந்தது எமதர்மன் முன்பு.

பொறித்திருந்த செய்தியைக் கண்டு
பெரிதும் அஞ்சினான், துன்புற்றான்,

"இங்கு இல்லை அவர்கள் எழுவர்.
எங்கு உள்ளனர் ஏழு இளவல்கள்?"

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
4 # 8 f. Searching for the missing brothers.

The army of demons who got separated while fighting, returned to Veerabaahu.

Veera purantharar came alone and the other seen brothers were not to be seen.

Veerabaahu was told by Ugrar that the seven brothers were killed by Agni mukhan under a banyan tree a hundred yojanas away from there.

Veeranbaahu stood shocked and then rushed to that spot. He lamented and cried on seeing the dead brothers. He became very angry with Yama.

He wrote a message on his arrow demanding that the souls of the dead brothers be returned to their bodies immediately or yama will face dire consequences.

He shot the arrow with such a force that it reached the yamaloka and fell in front of Yama himself.

Yama read the message and shuddered. He knew that the seven brothers were nor in his world. But Where were they?
 
4 # 8g. மாண்டவர் மீண்டனர்.

படை பரிவாரங்கள் புடை சூழ நமன்
உடன் சென்றான் திருக்கயிலை மலை.

ஏழு இளவல்களும் மலைச் சாரலில்
மூழ்கி இருந்தனர் தம்மை மறந்து

விஞ்சையரின் தேவ கானத்திலும்,
மஞ்சையரின் திவ்விய ஆடலிலும்!

நமனுக்கு வந்தது உயிர் மூச்சு.
நமன் வாங்கினான் எழுவரையும்.

'தமையன் தம்பியரைத் தேடி இளைக்க,
தம்பியரோ இன்னிசையில் திளைக்க,

அச்சத்தில் நான் உடல் களைக்க,
இச்சையுடன் வந்தேன் அழைக்க!

விரைந்து செல்லுங்கள் பிழைக்க!
மறுபடி தர்மம் தழைக்க " என்றான்.

தத்தம் உடலில் புகுந்து எழுந்தனர்.
தமையன் கால்களில் விழுந்தனர்.

மீண்ட இளவல்களை கண்ட வீரவாகு
மீண்டும் மீண்டும் ஆரத் தழுவினார்.

"திருநீறும், கழுத்தில் கண்மணியும்
திகழ்பவர் அருகிலே நான் செல்லேன்!

விளங்குவீர் சீருடனும் சிறப்புடனும்"
விநயமாகச் சொன்னான் நமனும்.

ஒற்றர்கள் ஓடினர் அரண்மனைக்கு.
கொற்றவனிடம் கூறினர் செய்திகளை.

அக்கினி முகனின் வீழ்ச்சியைக் கேட்டு
துக்கத்தில் மூழ்கியது நகர் முழுவதும்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
4 # 8g. The brothers return safely.

Yama left for Kailash with his retinue. He saw the seven brothers there enjoying the divine music and dances of the apsaras.

He paid obeisance to them and told them,

"Your elder brother is heart broken on your leaving the world. You are here enjoying the music and dance. I will be taken to task if you delay your return to the earth. Please go back to your bodies and establish Dharma !"

The brothers got up as if from deep sleep. Veerabaahu was overwhelmed with happiness and embraced them again and again.

Yama told them , "I never approach anyone wearing rudraaksham and holy ash. May you all live very long and glorious lives!"

The messengers ran back to their king and conveyed the news of the fall of Agni mukhan. The whole city was immersed in a sea of sorrow.
 
4 # 9a. மூவாயிரவர்.

அழிந்தான் அக்கினி முகன் போரில்!
விழுந்தான் சூரபத்மன் ஆறாத்துயரில்!

கேட்ட மாத்திரத்தில் சூரனின் மகன்கள்
கோட்டையை அடைந்தனர் மூவாயிரவர்.

"நூறாயிரம் வீரர்களுடன் கூட ஒன்பது
பேராண்மையாளர்களும் வந்திருக்க,

தீமுகன் ஒருவனை மட்டும் போருக்கு
நீ அனுப்பியது சரியா கூறு தந்தையே!

வலிவுடையவனையும் ஒன்றாகி விட்ட
மெலிவுடையவர் வெல்வார் அன்றோ?

வருந்தி மனம் கலங்க வேண்டாம் நீ!
இருக்கின்றோம் இன்னமும் பல வீரர்.

எண்ணங்கள் நிறைவேற வேண்டுமா?
எங்களைப் போருக்கு நீ அனுப்பு."

துன்பம் ஒழிந்தான் சூரபத்ம அவுணன்.
தன் மக்கள் மூவாயிரவர் மொழிகளால்.

புனைந்தனர் போர்க்கோலம் அனைவரும்;
பூண்டனர் அணிமணிகள் மலர் மாலைகள்.

கடல் என அரவம் எழுப்பி நடந்தது படை;
களத்தைச் சென்றடைந்தது விரைவில்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
4 # 9a. The three thousand sons of Soorapadman.

The news that Agni mukhan got killed in the battle shattered Soorapadman. His three thousand sons rushed to meet him on hearing this sad news.

"One hundred warriors and nine accomplished generals had come for the battle and you had sent Agni mukhan alone to fight them.

Even the valiant warrior will be defeated by the combined strength of the less valiant warriors.

Do not worry now. We are still here and many more people are here too. Allow us to go to the battle. Surely we will make your dream come true"

Soorapadman got consoled to some extent. He allowed the three thousand sons to go to the battle.

They got ready for the war front. They wore armors, garlands and marched to the battle field with a huge army.
 
4 # 9b. கடும் போர்.

கடலோடு கடலெனக் கலந்தது
படையோடு படை அக்களத்தில்.

இறந்தொழிந்தனர் எண்ணற்றவர்கள்,
குருதியாறு சென்று கலந்தது கடலில்

தாக்கிய அவுணர் படைக்குச் சற்று
தளர்ந்து விட்டனர் பூதப் படையினர்.

நூறாயிரவரில் வந்தார் ஓராயிரவர்
மூவாயிரவரை எதிர்த்துப் போரிட!

ஆயிரவர் தேர்களை அழித்தனர்
மூவாயிரவர்கள் கணை மழையால்.

கணைகளும், கற்களும் பறந்தன.
இணையாகவில்லை பூதப் படை.

ஆயிரவர் தோற்றதும் முன் வந்தார்
மூவாயிரவருடன் போரிட விசயர்!

மாண்டு விழுந்தபின் மூவாயிரவர்
மீண்டும் உயிர்தெழுந்தனர் விந்தை!

அறுபட்ட உறுப்புக்கள் ஒரு நொடியில்
மறுபடி முன்போல வளர்ந்துவிட்டன.

"நான்முகன் தந்த மேன்மை உள்ளவரை
போர்முகத்தில் வெல்லுவது எங்ஙனம்?"

விண்ணில் தோன்றிய வேல் முருகன்.
தண்ணருள் புரிந்து தந்தான் ஆயுதம்.

வைரவர் படைக் கலத்தை உருவாக்கி
"எய்வாய் இதை மூவாயிரவர் மீது!" என.

மாயப்படையைச் செலுத்தினர் அவுணர்.
மாயத்தை அழித்தது வைரவப் படை.

அவுணர்கள் மூவாயிரவரையும் ஒரே
கணத்தில் அழித்தது வைரவர் படை!

நூறாயிரம் வீரர்களில் ஒருவன் தனியே
மூவாயிரவரை அழித்ததை அறிந்தான்;

தாளாத துன்பத்தை அடைந்த சூரபத்மன்
மாளாதத் துயரக் கடலில் மூழ்கினான்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
4 # 9 b. The war.

The two armies moved in like the merging of two oceans. Many thousands fell dead. A river of blood flowed into the sea.

The army of demons faced a slight setback from the powerful attack of the asura army.

One thousand valiant warriors from the army of demons came forward to fight the three thousand sons of Soorapadman.

Their chariots were broken by the rain of arrows shot by the asura army. A lone worrier Vijayan came forward to fight the three thousand princes.

The princes who got killed, immediately came back to life! Their cut off limbs grew back immediately. The princes had special boons given by Brahma. How could anyone defeat these princes?

Murugan appeared in the sky. He created the Vairava asthram and gave it to Vijayan for shooting at the three thousand princes.

Meanwhile the asura princes shot the maaya asthram for deluding the army of demons.The Vairava asthram destroyed the maya asthram and went on to kill the three thousand princes.

That a single warrior killed the three thousand princes was too much to bear and Soorapadman fell in a sea of sorrow.
 
4 # 10.a. தருமகோபன்.

மதிமந்திரி தருமகோபன் சொன்னான்;
"விதியை வென்றிட இயலாது மன்னா!

உள்ளம் தளர்ந்து நீ நின்றுவிட்டால்
உள்ளம் குளிர்வர் நம் பகைவர்கள்.

நாணம் கொள்ளுவர் நம் இனத்தவர்.
நாளையே போரில் வெல்லலாமே!"

"நானே செல்வேன்!" என்று சூரன் கூற;
'நானே செல்லுவேன் மன்னா" என்றான்!

தருமகோபன் போருக்குத் தயார் ஆனான்;
அரிய போர்க்கோலம் அவன் தரித்தான்.

புண்டரீகம் என்னும் திக்குயானை மீது
கண்டவர் அஞ்சக் களம் சென்றான்.

படைகள் கலந்தன; போர் துவங்கியது.
இடைவெளி இன்றித் தாக்கினர் பூதர்.

அவுணப் படை அழிந்தே போனது.
அவுணரைத் துரத்தி அழித்தனர் பூதர்.

மலை போன்ற யானையின் மீதிருந்து
மழை போல எய்தான் கணைகளை.

களைக்காத புண்டரீகம் பூதர்களை
வளைத்து, வீசி, மிதித்துக் கொன்றது.

தருமகோபன் எய்த நூறு கணைகளால்
தளர்ச்சி அடைந்தார் வீரமார்த்தாண்டர்.

மார்பைத் தாக்கிய தடியின் அடியால்
மயங்கிச் சிலையானார் வீரபுரந்தரர்.

விரைந்து வந்தார் வீரவாகுத் தேவர்.
வீரமொழிகள் பேசினார் அவுணனிடம்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.



 
4 # 10a. Dharmagopan.

Minister Dharmagopan consoled Soorapadman.

"No one can change the destiny. We have to accept it! If you become disheartened, our enemies will rejoice and celebrate.
Our race will be ashamed of this. We can win the war tomorrow."

Soorapadman said,"I will led the army tomorrow"
Dharmagopan said, I will lead the army myself."

He got ready for the war. He rode on one of the ashta dig gajas called Pundareekam. It was awe inspiring to watch him ride that elephant the size of a mountain.

The asuras were attacked relentlessly by the demons. Their army was almost vanquished. Those who tried to run away were captured and put to death.

Dharmagopan became very angry and started showering the arrows like a rain cloud. His elephant also fought valiantly. It threw down the demons and killed them by stamping with its legs.

Veera maarthaandar became dizzy with one hundred arrows shot at his forehead. Veera purantharar was hit in the chest by the dandam and fainted.

Seeing this Veera baahu rushed there and challenged Dharmagopan for a war.
 
4 # 10.b. தருமகோபன் வீழ்ச்சி.

"முடியுமானால் காத்துக் கொள்வாய் !"
முடிவாகக் கூறினான் தருமகோபன்!

தருமகோபன் எய்த கூரிய அம்புகளோ
தருமசங்கடத்தை ஏற்படுத்தின அங்கு.

வலிய வீரவாகுவின் மார்பில் பட்டு
வலுவிழந்து கூர் மழுங்கி விழுந்தன!

வீரவாகு வீசிய வேற்படையால்
அறிவிழந்து நின்றான் தருமகோபன்.

கோடுகளால் அவரைத் தாக்கிய யானை
பொடிப் பொடியாக்கியது அவர் தேரை.

துதிக்கையைக் கையால் பற்றி அறைய
தூக்கி எறியப்பட்டது யானை விண்ணில்.

விண்ணுலகம் வரை சென்று மீண்டும்
மண்ணுலகில் வந்து விழுந்தது அது.

மார்பில் விழுந்த ஒரு அறையால்
மண்ணில் விழுந்தான் தருமகோபன்.

கால்களால் வீரவாகு உதைக்கவே
காலன் உயிரைப் பறித்துச் சென்றான்.

"திக்கு யானைகளில் நானும் ஒருவன்.
திக்கில்லாமல் இவனைப் பணிந்தேன்.

காவலில் சிறையில் இருந்தேன் நான்!
ஏவல்கள் செய்து திரிந்தேன் நான்.

என் தவறு என இங்கு எதுவுமில்லை.
என்னிடத்துக்கு என்னைச் செல்லவிடு"

செய்தி போயிற்று சூரபத்ம அவுணனுக்கு.
செய்வது அறியாமல் மயங்கி நின்றான்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
4 # 10.b. Dharmagopan falls.

"Save yourself if you can! Dharmagopan taunted Veerabaahu.

But his sharp arrows caused him shame since when they hit the strong body of Veerabaahu, they became useless and fell down without harming him.

Veerabaahu threw his spear and Dharmagopan got dazed. The elephant attacked Veerabaahu with its four tusks and damaged his chariot.

Veerabaahu caught hold of its trunk and gave it such a hard slap that it flew in the sky and rough landed on the earth.

Veerabaahu hit Dharmagopan on his chest. The asura fell down and Veerabaahu kicked him to his death.

The elephant spoke with reverence now,
I am one of the eight elephants of the eight directions. I was forced to obey Soorapadman. I was imprisoned by him. I had to carry our his commands and obey him. Please let me go back to my place."

The elephant was sent away. The news of the fall of Dharmagopan reached Soorapadman. He felt completely lost now.

4 # 11.a. சூரனும், மகனும்.

தூதுவர் சிலர் ஏகினர் மறு நாள்;
ஆதவனைச் சிறை செய்த அவுணனிடம்.

“மாயப் படை செலுத்தி மயக்கினாய் !
தோயக் கடலில் அவர்களை வீழ்த்தினாய் !

வேற்படை சென்றது ஆறு கடல் கடந்து
வெற்றுப்படை ஆனது உன் மாயப் படை.

மீண்டு வந்தனர் மாண்ட பூதர்கள்,
ஈண்டு வந்து அழித்தனர் நம் நகரை

சூரபத்மன் போருக்கு அனுப்பினான்
இரணியன், தீமுகன், மூவாயிரவரை.

படைகள் அழிந்து ஒழிந்து போயின
கடல் மீனாகி ஒளிந்தான் இரணியன்.

தருமகோபன், தீமுகன் போரில் வீழ்ந்தனர் .
இருக்கிறார்கள் நம் நகரில் பகைவர்கள் !”

பானுகோபன் அதிர்ந்தான் ஏங்கினான்;
பாரினில் நம் வாழ்வு முடியலாயிற்றோ?

தந்தையைக் காணச் சென்றான் அவன்
நன்னெறிகள் பகன்றான் பானுகோபன்

“நான் கூறும் சொற்களைச் செவிமடு!
நன்னீர்க் கடலில் இட்டேன் பூதரை!

வேற்படை செலுத்தி மீட்ட சிறுவனைத்
தோற்கடிக்க இயலாது எவராலும்.

முதல் நாள் போரில் தோற்றுப் புற
முதுகிட்டு ஓடி வந்தது யார் கூறு!

தாரகனையும், கிரௌஞ்சனையும் வென்ற
பேராண்மையாளனை எவர் வெல்லுவார்?

ஆறுமுகனின் இளவல்களில் சிறந்த
வீரவாகுவைக் கூட வெல்ல இயலாது.

அமரரைச் சிறை விட்டுவிடு நீ!
ஆறுமுகன் படை சென்று விடும்.

பெரும் வளங்களுடன் நம் குலம்
பெருவாழ்வு வாழ வழி செய்வாய் ”

4 # 11. a. Soorapadman and Bhaanukoban.

On the next day some messengers went to Bhaanukoban. They spoke to him in detail.

“You shot the Maaya asthram and threw the demon warriors in the freshwater sea.

Murugan’s spear went all the way and brought back the demon warriors after destroying the power of your maayaa.

The demon warriors destroyed our city. Iraniyan was sent to fight Murugan's army. He changed into a fish and went into hiding after being defeated.

Agni mukhan and the three thousand sons fell in the war. The enemies are still in our city.”

Bhaanukoban stared worrying, “Has my life come to its end?” He rushed to meet his father and advised him thus.

“I threw the demon warriors in to the sea but Murugan’s spear saved them and brought them back. Murugan is invincible.

We can’t win even Veerabaahu or any of his brothers. Release the Devas from the prison. Let our race live on in peace and prosperity”
 
4 # 11.b. சூரன் மறுத்தல்.

“நன்றாக உள்ளது உன் ஆலோசனை!
இன்னுயிர் காத்திட நான் எளியவனாகி

அமரரைச் சிறை நீக்கினால் எனக்கு
சமருக்கு அஞ்சிய பழி வந்து சேரும்.

பழி வந்தால் என்றேனும் நீங்குமா?
எழுமைக்கும் பின்தொடரும் என்னை!

பகைவர் கையில் உயிர் விடுவேன் நான்!
பகைவரைச் சிறை விடமாட்டேன் நான்!

சூரன் என்று பெயர் பெற்றவனின்
வீரத்துக்கு வரலாமா களங்கம்?

திருமாலையும் வென்றவன் நான்!
பெருமை அழிய உடன்படுவேனா?

நிலையற்ற வாழ்வை விரும்பியதால்
நிலையான கொள்கையைக் கைவிடேன்!

அஞ்சுவது நீதான் நானல்ல மகனே!
மஞ்சத்தில் படுத்து அஞ்சாமல் உறங்கு!”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
4 # 11.b. Soorapadman refuses.

“What a sound advice from you my son! You tell me to release the Deva from my prison so that I can live a little longer. But I will be blamed for fearing the war and for becoming a coward.

Such things are not easily forgotten and the title coward will stick to my name permanently. I will rather get killed by my enemy than release them from my prison. I am called Sooran because of my valor. I will never lose courage and the fame earned by me.

I had conquered even Vishnu himself. I will never compromise on my principles just to save my skin. You are the one who has turned to a coward. Go to your palace and sleep well in peace”.

4 # 12 a. அரிமுகன்.

வடகடலில் ஆசுரம் என்னும் நகரில்
நடத்திவந்தான் அரிமுகன் தன் ஆட்சியை.

நடந்தவற்றைக் கேட்ட அரிமுகன் உடனே
படையுடன் அடைந்தான் மகேந்திரபுரியை.

“பூதப் படையுடன் வந்தான் சிவகுமாரன்;
சேதப் படுத்தினான் நம் நகரை , நாட்டை!

ஆறுமுகனின் ஆற்றலைக் கெடுத்து
ஆறுதல் அளிப்பாய் நீ எனக்கு!”

அறவுரைகள் கூறிப் பயன் இல்லை!
வெறும் சிறுவன் அல்லவே முருகன்!!

"செல்வேன் போருக்கு இப்போதே நான்;
வெல்வேன் அன்றிப் போரில் மடிவேன்.

பிழைத்து வந்தால் சந்திப்போம் நாம்.
இழந்து விடாதே அனைவரையும்!”

உண்டான் வயிறார அறுசுவையில்.
பூண்டான் கவசமும், போர்க்கோலமும்.

மணப் பொருட்கள் பூசி, மாலை அணிந்து,
அணிகலன்கள் பூண்டு, நீறு தரித்தான்.

ஆயுதங்களை, தெய்வப் படைகளை,
மாயவள் தந்த பாசத்தை ஏந்தினான்;

பத்து நூறாயிரம் குதிரைகள் பூட்டிய
உத்தமமான தேரில் ஏறிச் சென்றான்.

அவுண மள்ளர்கள் புடை சூழ்ந்து வர;
அனைத்து இசைக்கருவிகளும் ஒலிக்க.

4 # 12.a. Singa mukhan.

Singa mukhan, the younger brother of Soorapadman ruled his country Aaasuram situated in the Northern Sea.

When he learned of the recent happenings, he rushed to Veera mahendrapuri with his army.

Soorapaman told him,

“The son of Siva came here with an army of demons and destroyed our country and capital city.

Vanquish the army of demons and make me happy!”

Singa mukhan felt that things were beyond his control or counseling. He decided to obey the command without any protest. He told Soorapadman,

“I shall go to the war front now on a “do or die” mission. If I return with victory we shall meet again! I hope you won’t lose every one of us here!”

He ate tasty food to his fill. He donned the armor and got ready for the battle. He wore flower garlands and smeared the incenses on his body.

He applied the holy ash of Siva and wore several other ornaments. He carried all the divine asthrams and sasthrams in his possession along with the paasam given by Maaya Devi.

He got into his chariot drawn by a million horses and went to the war front surrounded by his army which marched to the music of the various instruments.
 
4 # 12.b. தேவர்கள் விண்ணப்பம்.

அரிமுகன் போருக்கு வந்துள்ளதை
அறிந்து அஞ்சியது அமரர் கூட்டம்.

முருகக் கடவுளின் அருகே சென்று
உருகி விண்ணப்பித்தது ஒரே குரலில்.

“ஆயிரம் தலைகள் உடையவன் அவன்;
ஈராயிரம் கரங்கள் உடையவன் அவன்;

ஆயிரம் உலகங்களை வென்றவன் அவன்;
ஆயிரம் யோசனை உயரமானவன் அவன்.

மாயையில் தன்னிகர் அற்றவன் அவன்;
மனத்தினில் வஞ்சனை நிறைந்தவன் அவன்.

உலகினை உண்டு உமிழ வல்லவன் அவன்;
உலகினை ஒரு கரத்தால் எடுத்தவன் அவன்.

கொடிய முச்சூலப் படையினன் அவன்;
நடக்கையில் கடலை நகர்த்துபவன் அவன்;

மேருவைக் கையில் எடுத்தவன் அவன்;
சூரபத்மனுக்கு இளைய அவுணன் அவன்.

ஆற்றலில் அண்ணனை மிஞ்சியவனைத்
தோற்கடித்து எம்மைக் காக்க வேண்டும்!”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
4 # 12.b. The Deva’s pray to Murugan.

When the Devas learned that Singamukhan had come to the war front, they got frightened and ran aimlessly.

Then they went to Murugan and prayed to him in unison,

“Singa mukhan has one thousand lion faces;
He has two thousand strong hands;

He had conquered one thousand worlds;
He stands one thousand yojanas tall.

He excels in Maayaa and is very cunning as well as sharp. He had carried the world with one of his hands.

He can swallow the whole world if he wishes to do so. He is armed with a terrifying trisoolam

When he walks the earth is shaken and the seas get displaced. He can pick up the mount Meru with one palm.

Though he is the younger brother, he is stronger than Sooran. Please defeat him in the war and save us!”
