3 # 21.d. தருமகோபன் பதில்.

"நவமணிகள் பதித்த பொற்கலப்பையால்
நிலபுலன்களை உழுவது போன்றதே;

அண்டர்கோன் ஆகிய மாவீரன் நீயும்
அச்சிறுவனிடம் சென்று போர்புரிவது!

அவன் என்ன சிவபெருமானா? அல்ல!
அவன் என்ன நெடிய திருமாலா?அல்ல!

அவன் என்ன நான்முகனா? அல்லவே!
அவன் என்ன நமனா? அல்லவே!

அண்டர்கோன் சூரனான உன்னைக்
கண்டதும் ஓடி ஒளிவான் சிறுவன்!

சிறுவனோடு போரிட நீயே சென்றால்
சிறுமையால் நாணுவர் நம்குலத்தவர்.

நம்மைக் கண்டு நகைப்பர் தேவர்;
நம்மிலும் தாழ்ந்த மனிதர்கள் கூட.

அகத்தியரின் சாபத்தால் மட்டுமே
அழிந்தது கிரௌஞ்சம் அறிவாய்!

தகுந்த படைக்கலன்கள் இன்மையால்
தாரகனும், வஜ்ஜிவாகுவும் அழிந்தனர்.

ஒரு படைத் தலைவனை அனுப்புவாய்.
முருகனை அவனே போரில் வெல்வான்!"

3 # 21d. Dharmagopan's reply.

" Your fighting the little boy is as ridiculous as ploughing a field with a plough made of gold and set with precious gems.

Is he Siva himself that you should personally confront him? He is neither Vishnu, nor Brahma nor Naman.

The moment he sets his eyes on you, he will run and hide himself. If you go to fight him, the race of asuras will feel ashamed. The devas and manushyas will laugh at us.

Krounja giri got destroyed because of the curse cast by sage Agasthya. Thaarakan and Vajrabaahu did not have proper asthras and got killed.

Just send one of your generals. He will surely conquer Murugan and his army." Dharmagopan told Soorapadman thus.

3 # 21.e. மற்றவர்களின் பதில்கள்.

சூளுரைத்தனர் சூரபத்மனிடம்;
"சிறுவனைப் போரில் பிடித்தபின்

காலபாசத்தில் கட்டி வருவதாக!"
காலசித்து, சண்டன், அனலி, சிங்கன்!

பானுகோபன் கோபித்தான் தந்தையை,
பகர்ந்தான் கடின மொழிகளையும்.

"தாரகனும், கிரௌஞ்சனும் அழிந்ததும்
போருக்கு அனுப்பவில்லை என்னை.

தூதுவன் வந்து போர் செய்து - கால
தூதுவனாக மாறிவிட்ட போதும் நீங்கள்

பகைவரைப் பந்தாடும் என்னை விடுத்து
பச்சிளம் பாலகனை அனுப்பினீர் அங்கு!

இனிமேலாவது என்னை அனுப்புங்கள்!
தனி ஒருவனாகப் பிடித்து வருவேன்."

இரணியன் இயம்பினான் சூரபத்மனிடம்,
"இப்போதே என்னையும் அனுப்புங்கள்!"

அக்னிமுகன் சூரபத்மன் முன் நின்று
ஆங்காரத்துடன் உரைத்தான் இம்மொழி.

"இளவலைக் கொன்றவனைக் கொல்லாமல்
கொள்ளேன் நான் மனநிறைவு தந்தையே!

அரிமாமுகன் எழுந்து கூறினான் தன்
அறிவுரையும் அறவுரையும் கலந்து.

3 # 21.e. The other advices.

Kaalachithu, Chandan, Anali and Singan swore that they would bind the enemies in Yama paasam and bring them to Soorapadman.

Bhanukoban got annoyed with his father and spoke thus,

"When Taarakan and Krounjan were destroyed, you must have sent me to the fight Murugan's army. Even when a messenger turned out to be mass killer you did not send me to fight him.

Instead you sent a young boy to fight him. Send me now. I shall capture all of them single-handedly!"

Hiranyan offered to go to the war front. Agni mukhan said,
" I can't relax, until I avenge the death of my anujan."

Just then Singa mukhan got and spoke the words of wisdom along with his own advice.

3 # 21.f. அரிமுகன் அறிவுரை.

"தேவர்களுக்குத் தீங்குகள் செய்தாய்!
ஏவினாய் அவர்களை மீன் பிடித்துவர!

இந்திரன் அரசாட்சியை அழித்தாய்.
இந்திரனையும் துரத்தி விரட்டினாய்,

சிறையில் தள்ளினாய் தேவர்களை!
சித்திரவதை செய்தாய் அவர்களை!

அறிவு மழுங்கி நெடுங்காலம் ஆனது
இரக்கம் உறைந்து பலகாலம் ஆனது.

மேன்மைகள் அளித்தார் சிவபெருமான்
மேலான நூற்றெட்டு ஊழிகளுக்கே!

அந்தக் காலக்கெடு முடிந்துபோனதை
அந்தகன் போலவே அறியவில்லை நீ!

எமது சக்தியே உம்மை வெல்லும் என
நமது பிரான் உரைத்தார் நம்மிடம்;

ஆறுமுகன் விடுத்த சிறிய வேற்படை
தாரகனை அழித்தது இதனால் அன்றோ?

பெரியவர், சிறியவர், பெண்களை;
அரியவர், தவத்தினரைப் பேணுவோம்.

தேவர்களைச் சிறை நீக்கிவிட்டால்
போர் புரிய மாட்டார் முருகபிரான்.

குற்றத்தை மன்னித்து மறந்து மீண்டும்
சுற்றத்துடன் சென்றுவிடுவார் கயிலை.

தேவர்களை நாம் சிறை நீக்காவிடின்
வேருடன் அழித்துவிடுவார் நம்மை."

3 # 21.f. The advice of Singamukhan.

Singamukhan got up and started to speak to Soorapadman.

" You have caused troubles to the Devas. You made them bring fish everyday. You haunted Indra and chased him out of swarga. You imprisoned the Devas. You tortured them. You have got corrupted long ago. You have lost your compassion and kindness completely.

Siva gave us boons that would last for 108 Yugas. That period is already over and you are not aware of that fact. Siva said that only His power can vanquish us. That is why a small spear thrown by the young Murugan could kill Taarakan and split Krounjagiri into two.

We are supposed to protect the elders, the very young, ladies and tapasvis. We can still solve this problem by releasing the Devas from the prison. Murugan will forgive us and forget our sins. He will go back to Kailash with his army of demons. If we refuse to release the Devas, Murugan is sure to destroy all of us"

3 # 21g. சூரபத்மனின் சீற்றம்.

அரிமாமுகனின் அறிவுரையைக் கேட்டு,
சூரன் நகைத்தான் தன் கைகளைத் தட்டி.

அளவு கடந்த சினம் பொங்கி வழிந்திட,
இளவலைப் பார்த்து இகழலுற்றான்;

"இந்திராதி தேவர்களுக்கு அஞ்சினாயா?
மந்திரத்தால் உந்தன் மனம் அழிந்தாயா?

எமது சக்தி உம்மை வெல்லும் என்று
நமது பிரான் கூறியது கேட்டிலேன்.

பொய் மொழிகள் புனைந்துரைத்து
மெய் போல் அதை நம்பச்சொல்கிறாய்.

மேன்மைகள் தந்த ஒருவரே அந்த
மேன்மைகளைப் பறிப்பதும் உண்டோ?

வேள்விகள் செய்து மேன்மை பெறாது
வேற்படைக்கு அழிந்தான் தாரகன்;

குழந்தை போன்ற வஜ்ஜிரவாகுவும்
அழிந்து போனான் அறியாமையினால்;

என்னிடம் உள்ள குறை என்ன கூறு!
என்றும் அழியாத ஒரு வஜ்ஜிரகாயம்;

தேவர்கள் இப்போது என் ஏவலர்கள்;
தேவைகளைப் புரியும் தொண்டர்கள்;

திருமால், தேவர்கள் கண்டு அஞ்சும்
பெருமை படைத்தவன் அன்றோ நான்?

சிறுவனோ வந்து கொலை செய்வான்?
அறியாமல் பேசுகின்றாய் அச்சத்தால்."

3 # 21g. Soorapadman's rage.

Soorapadman became very angry on hearing the words of wisdom spoken by his younger brother Singamukhan. He clapped his hands and laughed in anger.

He spoke to Singamukahn with utter scorn,
"Are you afraid of the Devas and Indra?
Have you lost you mind due to an evil spell?

Siva never told us that his shakti will destroy us.
You tell me lie and you want me to believe it.
After giving us boons, will the same lord remove them?

Taaraka did not perform yaaga to acquire super powers.
So he got killed.

Vajrabaahu was no more than a child. So he got killed.
Tell me now!

What is my weak point?
I have a vajya kaayam-a body as strong as a diamond.
Devas are now my servants and obey my orders.

Even Vishnu and Brahma are afraid of me.
How can Murugan, a mere child kill me?
You are out of your senses overcome by your fear!".

3 # 21. h. அரிமுகன் அறிவுரை.

"தவம் செய்தாய் சிவனை நினைத்து;
அவன் அளித்தான் பல மேன்மைகளை.

எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் உண்டு முடிவு ஒன்று!
நல்லதாயினும் சரி, அல்லதாயினும் சரி!

உணர மறுக்கிறாய் உண்மைகளை;
அவுண அரசனே ஆலோசனை செய்.

அறநெறிகளைத் துறந்துவிட்டாய் நீ.
ஆண்மையால் செயல்புரிகின்றாய் நீ.

வரத்தைக் கொடுத்த பிரானே அதைப்
பறித்து விடலாகாது என்று கருதியே

திருமகனைத் தோற்றுவித்துள்ளார்!
பிற உயிர்போல் அவனை எண்ணாதே!

திரு நுதற்கண்ணில் தோன்றியவன்;
மறைகளும் அறிந்திட முடியாதவன்;

அனைத்தும் அறிந்து உணர்ந்தவன்;
அனைத்துக்கும் அவனே முதல்வன்;

அறிவே வடிவான அவன் இயல்புகள்;
அறிவுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது அறிவாய்!

முப்பத்தாறு தத்துவங்களையும் விஞ்சி,
அப்பால் நிற்கும் பரம்பொருள் அவன்.

கூறுதற்கரிய முழு முதற் பொருள்!
சிறுவன் ஒருவன் என மயங்காதே.

கணப் பொழுதில் அழிக்க வல்லவன்
கணக்கற்ற அவுணர்களை, உன்னை!

ஆக்கவும், காக்கவும் வல்லவன் அவன்.
ஆணவம் அழிக்க வந்துள்ளான் செந்தூர்.

அழியாத உடல் உண்டு என்னாதே;
அழிவு உண்டு தோன்றும் உயிர்க்கு.

விண்ணுலகமும் கூட இதற்கு ஒரு
விதிவிலக்கு ஆகாது அறிவாய்!

கொடுத்த இறைவனே எடுத்தால்
தடுக்க முடியுமா எவரேனும் கூறு!

நன்மையை நாடி நலம் தரும்
மேன்மை உரைப்பேன் சிறை நீக்கு!"

3 # 21.h. Singamukhan's advice.

Singamukhan spoke again to Soorapadman fearlessly.
"You performed yaagna to please Siva. He gave you many special boons.
But there is an end to everything around us...the good and the bad.
You do not wish to see the truth. Contemplate on your actions now!
You have forgotten Dharma. You are acting out of your ego and power.
Siva who has given the boons does not want to take them away himself.
That is why he has created a valorous son out of his fiery eyes.
Murugan is not an ordinary child like the rest of the children you have seen.
He is born out of fire. Vedas can't reveal the truth about him.
He knows everything. He is everything.
He is the personification of pure knowledge.
He is beyond our intellect and our efforts.
Do not get deluded thinking that he is just a small boy.
He can destroy countless asuras as well as you in a moment's time.
He is the creator and protector of everything and everyone.
He has come here to shatter your pride and ego.
Do not boast of possessing an indestructible body.
Nothing is indestructible. Whatever is born is bound to die.
Even swarga is not an exemption to this rule.
If the Lord who gave you the boons wants to
take them back who can stop him?
I wish your welfare. Release the Devas from the prison!"

3 # 21. i. சூரபத்மனின் பதில்.

பெருஞ்சினம் கொண்டான் முருகனின்
அருமை பெருமைகளை கூறக் கேட்டு!

"நேற்றுப் பிறந்த ஒருவனை நீயே
ஏற்றிப் பரம்பொருள் என்கின்றாய்.

கதிரவன் ஒருவனே என்ற போதிலும்
கணக்கற்ற குடநீரில் பிரதிபலிப்பான்.

குடங்கள் உடைந்தால் கலந்துவிடும்
குடவிண் பெருவிண்ணுடன் ஒன்றாக!

பலவகை உருவங்கள் மறையும் போது
பரம்பொருள் என்னும் ஒன்றே எஞ்சும்!

அணிகலன்கள் அனைத்தும் அடங்கும்
ஆணிப்பொன் என்னும் ஒரு தாதுவில்!

அனைத்து உயிர்களும் ஒன்றி அடங்கும்
அனைத்தையும் படைத்த பிரமத்தில்.

அழிவற்றவன் நானே வெல்வேன்
அறியாச் சிறுவன் முருகனைச் சமரில்!

நம் குலத்தினரை அழித்தனர் தேவர்;
நம் குலம் காக்க சிறையில் இட்டேன்.

குற்றம் செய்பவரை தண்டிப்பதும்
குறைவற்ற அரசநெறியே ஆகும்.

தேவர்களை நான் சிறை விடேன்!
தேவர்கோனையும் சிறை இடுவேன்!

சிவன் வந்தாலும் போர் புரிவேன்-அவன்
மகன் வந்தாலும் நான் போர் புரிவேன்!

தலைகள் பல இருந்தும் பயன் இல்லை.
குலப் பெயரைக் கெடுக்கவே பிறந்தாய்!

ஆண்மை இழந்த நீ செல்லலாம் - என்
மேன்மையால் பகைவனை வெல்வேன்!"

3 # 21. i. Soorapadman's reply.

On hearing the greatness of Murugan enlisted by Singamukhan, Soorapadman became very angry.

"You call a child born yesterday as the Supreme God!

Sun is one but it will get reflected by the water in hundreds of pots.

When the pots break, the "ghata aaskaasam" will merge with the "aakaasam".

When the creation disappears only Brahman remains.

All the various ornaments can be melted to give us the metal gold.

All the different creatures when destroyed merge with Brahman.
I am indestructible. I will conquer the boy called Murugan.

Devas harassed asuras. It is the duty of a king to punish the wrong doers.

I did my duty as the king of asuras. I shall never release them from prison.

I will imprison Indra also soon. Let Siva come for the battle.
I shall fight him. I shall fight Murugan also.

You are born only to bring disgrace to our race.
You may have many heads but they are all useless.

Now that you have turned into a coward, you may go and save your skin. I shall conquer Murugan by myself."

3 # 21. அரிமுகன் உடன்பாடு.

சூரபத்மனின் சொற்களைக் கேட்டு
வருந்தினான் மிகவும் அரிமாமுகன்.

அறிவுரை பலவும் எடுத்துச் சொன்னேன்;
அறிவிலி என்று என்னை இகழ்ந்தான்.

அறவுரை பலவும் எடுத்துச் சொன்னேன்;
அறம் அறியாதவன் என்று சொன்னான்.

அறிவற்றவருக்கு அறிவுரை சொல்பவர்
அறிவற்றவர் என்பதும் கூட மெய்யே!

ஆணவத்தால் அறிவிழந்தவனைப்
பேணுவதற்கு வழி ஒன்றும் இல்லை.

ஊழை விலக்க வல்லவர் யார்?
சூழும் தானே முன் வந்து நின்று!

சிவன் கூறிய காலம் முடிந்தது.
அவன் மகன் அழிப்பான் சூரனை.

அவன் போனபின் உயிர் எதற்கு?
அவனுக்கு முன் உயிர் விடுவேன்!

"சிறியவன் என் குற்றம் பொறுத்து
அரிய போர்க்களம் செல்ல அனுமதி!"

அரிமாமுகனை மார்போடு அணைத்து,
"பரிசோதிக்கவே பலவாறு பேசினாயோ?

படையுடன் போருக்குச் சித்தம் ஆகுக!"
விடை கொடுத்து அனுப்பினான் சூரன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

இத்துடன் மகேந்திர காண்டம் முடிவுற்றது.

3 # 21.j. Singamukhan concurs.

Singamukhan became very sad on hearing Soorapadman's cruel words.

I gave him good advice and I was called as a fool.
I spoke to him of dharma and I was called an ignorant person.

It is true that one who tries to advice a fool is himself a fool.
He is so much bloated with ego. There is no way of saving him now. Who can conquer fate?

Whatever is destined to happen will happen!
The time limit given by Lord Siva is over.

Surely his son will destroy Soorapadman.
There is no point in my living after the death of Soorapadman.
It is far better that I give up my life before him.

He paid obeisance to Soorapadman and said,
"Please forgive my foolishness in disobeying your order.
Now let me go to the battle field"

Soorapadman embraced him and said,
"So you wanted to test my reaction by speaking all those words!
You may get ready for the battle. Take a large army with you!".

இது ஒரு மாக் கடல் தான்!

இது ஒரு பாக் கடலும் கூட!

மொத்தம் ஆறு காண்டங்கள்;

நூற்று நாற்பத்தொரு படலங்கள் ;

பதினாயிரத்து முன்னூன்று
நாற்பது ஐந்து 'பா'க்கள்! :faint:

கந்த புராணத்தை எழுத

கந்தனே அருள வேண்டும்!ray:

முயற்சி உடையார் இகழ்ச்சி அடையார்!

ஆனை முகனும், ஆறு முகனும்,

அருள் புரிந்தால் எல்லாமே சாத்தியம்.

இது வேதம் கூறும் சத்தியம்.

நம்பிக்கையுடன் விரைவில் நாம்

நம்பியின் கதையைத் தொடங்குவோம்! :typing:

ஆறு / ஏழு மாதங்களுக்குப் பின்

400 போஸ்டுகளுக்குப் பின்

4 . போர்புரி காண்டம் .

கடவுள் வணக்கம். :hail:

நாரணன் என்னுந் தேவும் நான்முகத் தவனு முக்கண்
பூரணன் தானும் ஆகிப் புவிபடைத் தளித்து மாற்றி
ஆரண முடிவுந் தேறா அநாதியாய் உயிர்கட் கெல்லாம்
காரணன் ஆய மேலோன் கழலிணை கருத்துள் வைப்பாம்.ray:

4 # 1. ஏமகூடம்.

"போருக்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் செல்லவேண்டும்
வீரமகேந்திரபுரத்துக்கு!" என்று முருகன்

திருச்செந்தூரில் எழுந்தருளி இருந்தபோது
திருவுளத்தில் கருத்துக் கொண்டான்.

"சூரபத்மனை வேருடன் அழிக்கச் செல்ல
தேரை விரைந்து கொணர்க வீரவாகு!"

மனோவேகம் என்னும் தேர் வந்ததும்
மன்மதனை நிகர்த்த முருகன் ஏறினான்.

"வீரமகேந்திரபுரி செல்வோம் நாம்.
ஊர்திகளில் ஏறி உடன் வருவீராகுக!"

அமர்ந்தான் பிரமன் அன்னத்தின் மீது;
அமர்ந்தான் திருமால் கருடன் மீது;

அமர்ந்தான் இந்திரன் தன் தேரில்;
அமர்ந்தனர் பிறர் தம் ஊர்திகளில்;

ஆற்றலும் போர் வலிவும் படைத்த
நூற்று எட்டுப் படைத்தலைவர் சூழ,

பூதப் படைகள் ஈராயிரம் வெள்ளம்
தேவர்கள் பொழிந்த மலர் மழையில்,

பூதங்கள் ஒலித்த இசை மழையில்,
படைகள் நடந்தன நிலம் அதிர்ந்திட.

கடல் மேடாகி கணுக்கால் நீரானது.
கடல் மலைகள் சிறு கற்கள் ஆயின.

"கடையர்கள் வாழும் மகேந்திரபுரியை
அடைவோம் நாளை! அமைப்பீர் பாசறை."

தேவதச்சன் அமைத்தான் ஒரு பாசறை.
தேவர்களின் பாசறை ஏமகூடம் ஆனது.

4 # 1. Hemakoodam.

While at Thiruchendhoor Murugan decided to go to Veera Mahendrapuri to wage a war against Soorapadman. He commanded Veerabaahu to bring his chariot. When the chariot Manoveham arrived, the handsome Murugan climbed into it.

"Please come along with me in your own vahanams!" he commanded the other Devas. Brahman sat on his swan; Vishnu on his garudan; Indra in is chariot and the others in their respective vahanams and chariots.

The one hundred and eight generals of the army, two hundred vellam of the demon warriors, walked in the flowers rained by the Devas to the beat of the music played by the demons.

The sea became shallow as they waded through it. The mountains below the sea water were crushed into small stones. They had neared the city Veera Mahendrapuri by now.

Murugan said,"Let us camp here tonight and proceed to the war front tomorrow."

The divine carpenter created a camp worthy of the Devas. It was called Hemakoodam.

4 # 2a. நாரதர் கலஹம்.

ஏமகூடத்தில் முருகன் இருக்கையில்
தாமே சென்றார் சூரபத்மனைத் தேடி

நாரத முனிவர் அவன் அரண்மனைக்கே;
"சிறந்து வாழ்வாய்!" என வாழ்த்தினார்.

"நீர் யார்? எங்கிருப்பவர்? என்ன சேதி?"
"நான் நாரதர் என்னும் பெயர் உடையவன்;

காமம் முதலியவற்றைத் துறந்து விட்டவன்;
நேமம் கொண்டு நன்மொழி புகல வந்தேன்;

உன்னை அழிக்கத் தோற்றுவித்தார் சிவன்
தன் நெற்றிக் கண்ணிலிருந்து முருகனை.

சிறுவனிடம் சென்று முறை இட்டனர் தேவர்
உறுதிமொழி அளித்துள்ளான் குறை தீர்க்க.

நிலவுலகுக்கு வந்தான் பூதப்படையுடன்;
இளவலை, கிரௌஞ்சனை அழித்தான்!

திருச் செந்தூரில் இருந்துகொண்டு அவன்
விரைந்து அனுப்பினான் ஒரு தூதுவனை.

படையுடன் கடல் கடந்து வந்து நகரின்
வடப்புறம் அமர்ந்துள்ளான் பாசறையில்.

கண்ணால் கண்டேன் இவை அனைத்தும்;
மன்னா! நீ ஆவன செய்வாய் விரைந்து!"

நகைத்தான் சூரபத்மன் இம்மொழி கேட்டு
திகைத்தார் அவர் அவன் பலத்தை எண்ணி.

'தேவர்கள் நகரைப்போல எண்ணினானோ
தேவர்களை வென்ற என் தலை நகரையும்?

மடங்கற் கூட்டத்தை யானைக்கன்று ஒன்று
மான்களின் உதவியுடன் வெல்ல முடியுமோ?

அழிப்பேன் அச் சிறுவனின் ஆண்மையை.
பழிச்சொற்கள் வந்தாலும் பொருட்படுத்தேன்.

என் மகனை அனுப்பி வெல்வேன் அவனை!
உன் கண் முன் நிகழப்போவதை நீயும் பார்!"

"வெற்றி உனதே! காலம் தாழ்த்தாதே மன்னா!
வெற்றி உண்டாகத் தவம் செய்யச் செல்வேன்"

4 #2a. Narada's service.

While Murugan and others were in Hemakoodam, Narada went to meet Soorapadman.

He blessed Sooran. Sooran wanted to know who he was and what was his business.

"I am Narada. I have given up all desires. I wish you well and brought you some important news.

Siva has created a son out of his fiery eyes to destroy you. Devas went and lodged a complaint against you to that boy Murugan. He has promised to help them.

He has come down to earth with his army. He killed your brother Taarakan and destroyed Krounjagiri. He stayed in Thiruchendoor and sent to you a messenger.

Now he has crossed the sea and set up a camp in the northern side of your city. I saw all these with my own eyes. Do something quickly to meet this threat of war!"

Soorapadman laughed loudly. Narada wondered at his guts.

"Did the boy think this to be the capital of Devas?
Can an elephant cub assisted by deers conquer a pride of ferocious lions?

I will destroy his ego. I don't care even if i am blamed for that. I will send my son and conquer him. Just wait and see what happens"

"I will go and do penance for your victory" saying this Narada left his palace.

4 # 2b. வருணனைச் சினந்தல்.

கோரன், உற்கோரன் என்னும் ஒற்றர்கள்
சூரபத்மனின் ஆணைப்படிச் சென்றனர்;

விரைந்து கொணர்ந்தனர் வருணனை;
சூரபத்மன் முன் நிறுத்தினர் வருணனை.

வருணனைச் சினந்தான் சூரபத்மன்,
வருணன் நடுங்கித் தொழுதான் அவனை.

"சிவன் மகனையும், சேனையையும்
எவன் ஆணைப்படி அனுமதித்தாய்?"

"தேவர்கள் ஊர்திகளில் விண்வழிச் செல்ல,
பூதர்கள் சென்றனர் என்னுடல் மீது நடந்து;

விண்ணிலும், மண்ணிலும் செல்பவர்களை
என்னால் எங்கனம் தடுத்திருக்க முடியும்?

நொந்த உடலுடன் நானே வருந்தி இருக்க
வெந்த புண்ணில் வேல் பாய்ச்சாதீர்கள்.

ஆழம் காணமுடியாதவன் என்ற பெருமை
பாழாகிவிட்டதை அறிவீர் அண்டர்கோனே!

உள்ளங்கையில் அகத்தியரைப் போலவே
அள்ளி எடுத்துக் குடித்துவிடுவர் என்னை.

இடியேற்றைப் பாம்பு ஒன்று விலக்குமோ?
மடங்கலை ஆனை ஒன்று அடக்குமோ?

சூழும் ஊழினைத் தூய அறிவு வெல்லுமோ?
சூழும் படையினைத் தடுக்கவும் இயலுமோ?"

ஒற்றர்கள் சிலர் ஓடி வந்தனர் அப்போது .
கொற்றவனிடம் கூறினர் செய்திகளை;

"திருமால், நான்முகன், தேவர்கள் சூழ
முருகன் வந்துள்ளான் பூதப் படையுடன்"

"அழைத்து வாருங்கள் பானுகோபனை!
ஆவன செய்வோம் நாம் விரைந்து!"

4 # 2B. VARUNAN TAKEN TO TASK.

Soorapadman sent Goran and Urgoran to fetch Varunan immediately.

He chided Varunan for letting Murugan and his army cross the ocean.

Varunan trembled in fear and replied thus,

"The Devas flew on their vaahanams.
Their army marched on my watery body.
How could I have stopped their march?
I am already suffering physically!
Please do not make my mind also suffer.
I was proud that I was unfathomable,
but I lost my pride today.
They would have picked me up in their palms
and drunk me like the sage Agasthya.
How can a serpent fight a thunderbolt?
How can an elephant fight a ferocious lion?
How can intellect conquer fate?
How can I stop that invincible army?"

Some messengers came running and reported the arrival of Murugan accompanied by the other Devas and the army of demons.

Soorapadman ordered them to fetch Bhaanukoban immediately.

4 # 3a. முதல் நாள் போர்.

பானுகோபன் அரண்மனையை அடைந்து
பானுகோபன் அடியினைப் பணிந்தனர்;

சூரபத்மனின் ஆணையைக் கூறினர்;
சூழ்ந்தனர் அமைச்சர்கள், தளபதிகள்;

பலவித போர்க்கருவிகள் ஒலித்திட
பல தெருக்களைக் கடந்தான் அவன்;

"அழைத்த காரணம் என்ன கூறுவீர்!"
அழைத்த தந்தையை வினவினான்;

"தாரகனைக் கொன்ற சிறுவன் முருகன்
போர் புரிய வந்துள்ளான் நம் நகருக்கு!

திருமால், நான்முகன், இந்திரன் கூட
சிறுவனுடன் வந்துள்ளனர் சமருக்கு.

சிறியவர்களோடு சென்று பொருதல்
சிறுமை அளிக்கும் என் போன்றவர்க்கு.

பூதப்படையிடம் சென்று அவர்களை
சேதப்படுத்தி வருவாய் போரில் வென்று!"

தந்தை சொல் கேட்டு மிக மகிழ்ந்தான்
விந்தையாகத் தோள்கள் வளர்ந்தன.

"எந்தையே என் கடன் பணி செய்வது.
தந்தேன் தேவர்களைச் சிறைப்படுத்தி!

சிந்தை மகிழும்படி அவர்களுக்கு நீர்
விந்தையான தண்டனைகள் தரலாம்!"
