2 (# 8a). சூரபத்மனின் புறப்பாடு.

தாயின் அறிவுரை இனித்தது மிகவும்;
மாயை கூறியபடி வடதிசை சென்றனர்.

தம்பியுடையான் படைக்கு அஞ்சான்.
தம்பியர் இரு படைக்காவலர் ஆயினர்.

முன் நின்று நடத்தினான் படையை
முகம் சிங்கமாகிய முதல் இளவல்!

இறுதியில் நடந்து காவல் புரிந்தான்
உறுதியாக, யானைமுகன் தாரகாசுரன்.

நிலமும்,வானமும் அதிர நடந்தனர்;
நிலமகள் வருந்தித் துயர்மிக உற்றாள்.

தளர்ந்தான் பாரத்தால் ஆதி சேடன்.
தளர்ந்தனர் திக்கஜ, திக்பாலகர்கள்!

சூரபத்மன் வெம்படையின் நடுவில்
சூரியன் போல் ஜொலித்து வந்தான்!

சுக்கிராச்சாரியார் காண விழைந்தார்
சூரனை, அசுரப்படையின் தலைவனை !

உயிர்களை வசப்படுத்தும் மந்திரம் ஓதி,
உயர்ந்த வான்வழி அணுகினார் அவனை.

"உம்மைக் கண்டதும் உருகுகிறது உள்ளம்,
உம் மேல் அன்பு பெருகி வளருகிறது!

நீர் யார் என அறிய விரும்புகிறேன்!"
நீர்மையுடன் வினவினான் சூரபத்மன்.

"உன் குலகுரு சுக்கிராச்சாரியன் நான்!
உன் நன்மை விழைந்து வந்துள்ளேன்.

கடின வேள்விகள் நீ செய்யும் காலை
கொடிய பகைவர் செய்வர் இடையூறு!

சிவனின் இந்த மந்திரத்தை ஓதினால்
அவன் மனம் மிக மகிழ்ச்சி அடையும்."

காதில் ஓதினார் அரிய மந்திரத்தை;
கண நேரத்தில் மறைந்து போனார்!

2 (# 8 a) THE MARCH TOWARDS THE NORTH.

Maayai's four children loved her sound advice. They started marching towards the north. Simha mukhan guarded the army from the front and Taaraka asuran from the rear.

The Earth trembled under the weight of the marching army. The Heaven also shook. The goddess of Earth could not bear the stain caused by the marching army. The ashta dig gaja, and the ashta dig paalakaa had a tough time too.

Soorapadman was in the middle of the army shining like the bright morning sun. Sukraachaarya wanted to meet him.

Crossing the path of such an army is the surest way of embracing the God of Death. So he chanted the mantra which made the people kindly disposed and then went to meet Sooran.

Sooran's heart melted at the sight of this strange man and he spoke kindly." My heart melts even by looking at you. Who are you Sir?"

"I am the kulaguru of the asuras. My name is Sukraachaarya. I wish to help you to get what you seek. When you perform the yaaga, there will be many disturbances from your sworn enemies. I shall teach you a mantra which will please lord Siva and help you get whatever you want"

He chanted the mantra secretly in Sooran's ears and disappeared promptly.

2 (# 8 b). வேள்விச் சாலை.

வடபுலத்தை அடைந்தான் சூரபத்மன்;
கடல் போன்று அமைத்தான் யாகசாலை.

பதினாயிரம் யோசனை பரப்பு அமைத்து,
பதித்தான் மலைகளை அதன் மதிலாக!

மதிலைச் சுற்றிலும் அவுணர்கள் காவல்;
மதிலின் நான்கு திசைகளில் வாசல்கள்!

வீரமடந்தை வாயில்களில் காவல்புரிய,
வைரவர் கூட்டம் காத்தது வேள்வியை.

ஒரு யாககுண்டம் யாகசாலையின் நடுவே;
பிற யாககுண்டங்கள் அதனைச் சுற்றிலும்.

வேள்விப் பொருட்களை நாடிய சூரபத்மன்
வேள்வியை முடித்துவிட்ட தாயை எண்ண,

அரிமா, வெம்புலி, யானைகள், யாளிகள்,
கரடிகள், குதிரைகள், ஆட்டுக்கடாக்கள்,

குருதியும், ஊனும், எண்ணையும், நெய்யும்,
அரிசி, பால், தயிர், கடுகு, மிளகுடன்,

மது, மலர்கள், நெற்பொறி, கஸ்தூரி,
புது தர்ப்பை, நறுமணப் பொருட்கள்,

சமித்துக்கள், பல கொள்களங்கள் என
குமித்துவிட்டாள் மாயை யாகசாலையில்!

2 (#8 B). THE YAAGA SAALAA.

Soorapadman reached the right spot for performing the yaaaga. He enclosed an area as big as an ocean. Mountains were planted as the guarding wall around the yaaga saalaa. There were entrances on all the four sides. The asuras guarded from beyond the mountain-fence.

The entrances were guarded by the brave women goddesses and the yaaga was guarded by the Bhairavas. In the middle of the yaaga saala there was the main yaaga kundam. Surrounding that several smaller kundams were made.

Soora padman needed many things for performing the yaaga. He thought of his mother Maayai who had already finished her yaaga and had got the power to procure whatever she wanted.

She provided everything needed for the successful completion of his yaaga.

She filled the yaagasaala lions, tigers, elephants, yaalis, bears, horses, rams, meat, blood, oil, ghee, milk, curd, pepper, rice, mustard, flowers, honey, kasthoori, incenses, paddy puffs, vessels and samiththu for the agni.

2 (# 8 C). சூரபத்மனின் வீரவேள்வி.

வேள்விப் பொருட்கள் கிடைத்த உடனே
வேள்வியைத் துவங்கினான் சூரபத்மன்.

வச்சிரத் தூணை நிறுவினான் நடுவில்,
வழிபட்டான் காவல் தெய்வங்களை.

மதில் நடுவில் அமைந்த பேய்களுக்கும்,
பூதங்களுக்கும் ஊன் பலி கொடுத்தான்.

நச்சு விறகிட்டுக் கொளுத்தினான் சூரன்,
நச்சுத் தீயை ஆயிரத்தெட்டுக் குழிகளில்.

அவி கொடுத்தான் அக்னி குண்டத்தில்;
சிவ பிரானின் பெயரைச் சொல்லியபடி.

குறையாமல் தீயை வளர்த்துவதற்கு
தாரகனை நியமித்தான் சூரபத்மன்.

நூற்றெட்டுக் குழிகளில் பிறகு யாகம்;
நீறு பூக்காமல் பார்க்க அரிமாமுகன்.

நடுக் குழியில் தொடர்ந்தது யாகம்,
நச்சு விறகால் தீயை மூட்டினான்.

வேள்விப் பொருட்களைத் தீயிலிட,
வேள்வித் தீ விண்ணை எட்டியது.

சூரனின் வீரவேள்வியைக் கண்டு
சுரர்கள் அஞ்சி நடுங்கலாயினர்.

பதினாயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் கழிந்தும்
பயன் ஒன்றும் காணவில்லை சூரன்.

அண்ணலை வரவழைக்க விரும்பி
விண்ணில் சென்று நின்று கொண்டான்.

தன் உடல் சதைகளை அறுத்து எடுத்துத்
தான் வளர்த்த யாகத்தீயில் இடலானான்.

அரிய அரிய உடல் சதை வளர்வது
அரியதொரு காட்சி ஆனது அங்கே.

ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் இங்ஙனம் செய்தும்
அண்ணல் அங்கே தோன்றவேயில்லை.

உயிர் துறப்பதே உத்தமம் என எண்ணி
வயிரத்தூண் மேல் குதித்தான் சூரன்.

உச்சியினின்றும் உருண்டு விழுந்தவன்
மிச்சம் இல்லாமல் எரிந்து போனான்.

2 ( # 8 C). Soorapadman's yagna.

As soon as Soorapadman got the things required to perform the yagna, he started the yagna. He set up the diamond pillar in the middle and worshipped the guarding deities first.

He lit the fire with the poisonous wood in the 1008 yaaga kundam. The yaaga was performed and Taaraka asuran was entrusted with the job of keeping the fire glowing.

Then the 108 yaaga kundams were lit and yaaga was performed. Simha mukhan was entrusted with the job of keeping the fire glowing.

Then the central yaaga kundam was lit. Soorapadman made the offerings to the agni and the flames reached as high as the heaven. The Devas were frightened to see the serious yagna being performed by Soorapadman.

Ten thousand years passed by. Still Siva did not appear. Sooran made the yagna more severe. He stood in the sky and started offering parts of his own body in the yaaga fire.

New limbs and flesh grew as fast as he was cutting them off. It was a thrilling sight to all present there!

One thousand years passed by and yet Siva did not appear. Soorapadman decided to end his life in the yaaga kundam. He jumped on the diamond pillar, rolled down into the fire and got completely burned.

2 (#8 d) அவுணர்கள் துயரம்.

அண்ணன் பாய்ந்து தீயில் விழுந்ததைக்
கண்டு உள்ளம் பதைத்தான் அரிமாமுகன்.

ரத்தக் கண்ணீர் வடித்தான் அவன் - மேலும்
மொத்தமாக யாகத்தை மறந்துவிட்டான்.

துன்பக் கடலில் வீழ்ந்து அரற்றினான்;
"அன்பில்லாமல் எம்மைப் பிரிந்தீரோ?

மாயையின் மகனே! அசுரர்கள் அரசே!
தீயில் வீழ்ந்து வெந்து மாண்டீரோ?

தாயும், தந்தையும் நீரே - எம்மைத்
தாங்கும் அண்ணனும் நீரே அன்றோ?

அஞ்சி ஒளிந்து நிற்கும் தேவரும்,
அமரர் கோனும் மனம் மகிழ்ந்திட,

அஞ்சாமல் யாகத் தீயில் குதித்து - எம்
நெஞ்சைப் பிளந்து சென்று விட்டீரே!"

யாக சாலை சோக சாலை ஆனது.
யாவரும் வேள்வி மறந்து அரற்றினர்.

அவுணர்கள் அழுது புலம்பும் ஒலி
அமிர்தமாக இனித்தது இந்திரனுக்கு.

துன்பம் தீர்ந்து இன்பம் எய்தினான்;
தன் தவத்தைத் தானே மெச்சினான்.

வெள்ளை யானை மீதேறி விண்ணில்
கொள்ளை மகிழ்ச்சியும் அடைந்தான்.

அரிமா முகனும் முடிவு செய்தான்
வீரவேள்வி செய்து உயிர் துறந்திட.

ஆயிரம் தலைகளை அரிந்து இட்டான்
அண்ணன் பாய்ந்த யாகக் குழியினில்;

மளமளவென்று அந்தத் தலைகள்
வளரலாயின மீண்டும் மீண்டும்!

தாரகனும் அரிந்து எரியில் இட்டான்
தீரத் தீர வளரும் தன் தலைகளை.

அவுணர்களும் செய்தனர் அங்ஙனமே!
அக்னியில் பாய்ந்தும் பலர் மாய்ந்தனர்.

2 (# 8 D). The sorrow of the Ausras.

Simha mukhan was overcome with sorrow when Soorapadman got burned to ashes. He shed bitter tears of sorrow and forgot all about maintaining the yagna fire.

He lamented with a broken heart,"How could you leave us thus? Have you no love for us? The son of Maayai! The king of Asuras! You were everything to us. You have made the frightened Devas and the panicky Indra happy by ending your life thus."

Everybody started crying and lamenting and the yaaga saalaa became a sokha saalaa!

The cries of sorrow from the asuras gladdened the heart of Indra. He sat on his white elephant and enjoyed the sights and sounds coming from below.

Simha mukhan decided to end his life in the same manner. He cut off his heads one by one and threw them in the yaaga fire! The heads grew again and again.

Thaarakan also offered his severed head in the fire and his head kept growing back.

More asuras did the same and some even jumped into the fire and ended their lives.

2 ( # 9 a). மேன்மை பெறுதல்.

சிங்கமுகன் எண்ணத்தை அறிந்து கொண்டு,
சிவபிரான் தோன்றினார் கிழப் பார்ப்பனராக.

தள்ளாத வயது; தடி பிடித்த தளர்நடை,
வேள்விச் சாலையை அடைந்து வினவினார்,

"வருந்துவது ஏன்? விருத்தாந்தம் கூறு!"
திருவடி தொழுது எழுந்தான் சிங்கமுகன்.

நிகழ்ந்த நிகழ்வுகளை எடுத்துக் கூறினான்.
நெகிழ்ந்த கிழவர் ஓர் உறுதி அளித்தார்,

"வேள்வித் தீயினின்றும் உம் அண்ணனை
மீள வைக்கின்றேன்! கவலை ஒழியுங்கள்!"

தேவ கங்கையை நினைத்தவுடன் அது
தேடி வந்து பதம் பணிந்து நின்றது.

அண்ணலின் ஆணைப்படி நடுக்குழியில்
அண்ணனை உயிருடன் எழுப்பித் தந்தது.

தம்பிகள் தத்தளித்தனர் மகிழ்ச்சியில்;
தம் தலைவனைக் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தனர்.

விண்ணில் நின்று மண்ணில் நிகழ்வதை
விரும்பிக் கண்ட அமரர் அஞ்சினர்!

திடீர் நிகழ்வுகளால் மருண்டு அஞ்சி
திகிலுடன் ஓடி ஒளிந்து கொண்டனர்.

முகிலின் வரவு கண்ட மயில்களாக
அவுணர்கள் ஆர்ப்பரித்து மகிழவும்,

முகிலின் வரவு கண்ட குயில்களாக
அமரர்கள் ஆறாத் துயர் உற்றனர்.

2 (# 9 A). SOORAPADMAN COMES BACK TO LIFE.

Singa mukhan decided to jump into the fire and sacrifice his life. Siva read his thoughts and appeared there as a very old brahmin. He held a stick and walked with faltering steps.

He came to the yaaga saalaa and asked Singa mukhan,"Why are you so sad? Tell me everything in detail"

Singa mukhan paid his respects to the old man and told him of all the recent happenings. The old brahmin took pity on him and promised,

"I shall bring back your brother alive from the fire!"

He contemplated on the Deva Ganga who promptly came down to him, paid obeisance , entered the yaaga kundam and brought back Soorapadman to life!

The joy and jubilation of the asuras was complete. The Devas who were watching the sufferings of the asuras with interest now noticed the sudden resurrection of Soorapadman. They ran and took cover.

The asuras felt as happy as the peacocks which had sighted the dark rain clouds. The suras were as unhappy as the cuckoos which had sighted the dark rain clouds!

2 (# 9 b). இறைவனின் தரிசனம்.

மகிழ்ந்து நின்றான் சூரன் வாழ்த்தொலியில்!
மாற்றிக் கொண்டார் சிவன் தம் உருவை!

விடை ஏறிய பிரானாகச் சிவன் காட்சிதர,
மடை திறந்த வெள்ளம் போல மகிழ்வுடன்;

நிலத்தில் விழுந்து பலமுறை வணங்கிப்
புளகம் அடைந்தான் அசுரன் சூரபத்மன்.

"நெடுங்காலம் என்னையே எண்ணிக்
கடும் தவம் செய்யக் காரணம்?" என

"அண்டங்கள் அனைத்தினுக்கும் அரச பதவி;
அண்டங்களை ஆள்வதற்கு ஆட்சி உருளை;

நினைத்தவுடன் எங்கும் செல்ல ஓர் ஊர்தி;
தினையளவும் அழிவில்லாத வஜ்ஜிர காயம்;

திருமாலையும், தேவரையும் வெல்லும் திறன்;
பெருமை தரும் ஆற்றலும், ஆயுதங்களும்"

என்று அனைத்தையுமே சூரபத்மன் வேண்ட,
கண்ணுதற் பிரான் அவற்றைத் தந்தருளினார்.

"ஆயிரம் கோடி அண்டங்களில் நீ இனி
ஆயிரத்தெட்டு அண்டங்களை ஆளுவாய்!

குற்றம் இல்லாத உடல் வலிமையுடன் நீ
நூற்றெட்டு யுகங்கள் ஆட்சி புரிவாய்!"

நினைத்த மாத்திரத்தில் விரைந்து சென்று
அனைத்துலகும் சேரவல்ல இந்திரஞாலம்;

அண்டங்களை ஆள ஆட்சி உருளை;
அனைவருக்கும் முதல்வன் ஆகும் மேன்மை;

தேவர்களை வெல்லும் சீரிய வலிமை;
தெய்வப் படைக்கலங்களுடன் தந்தார்;

எந்நாளும் அழியாத வஜ்ஜிர காயமும்,
என்றும் தோற்காத நால்வகைப் படையும்;

தம்பியருக்கும் அளித்தார் ஓர் உறுதியும்,
"எம் சக்தியாலன்றி அழிவில்லை உமக்கு!"

2 (# 9 B). Lord Siva's Dharshan.

Soorapadman was hailed by his brothers and his army. Siva changed his form and appeared as Lord Siva seated on Nandhi.

Sooran's joy knew no bounds. He paid his respect by prostrating on the ground several times. Siva spoke,

"You have performed a severe penance for a very long time? What do you seek?"

Soorapadman replied, "The ruler-ship of all the worlds, a chariot which will take me wherever I want to go, a body which will not get old nor decay, the ability to conquer Vishnu and Indra and all the divine asthras.
I seek all these from you Lord!"

Siva replied, "Of the ten thousand million worlds, you may rule 1008 worlds for 108 yugas. You will have a body as strong as a diamond. The chariot Indra gnaalam will take you wherever you wish to go. You are the foremost among all living beings!
You are invincible even to the Devas!"

He also gave the divine sasthrams and asthrams to Sooran. He gave the four siblings a rare promise, "There is no death or danger to you except by my own shakti!"

2 (# 10). குருவின் துர் உபதேசம்.

மேன்மைகள் பெற்று மகிழ்ந்த சூரன்
மீண்டும் சென்றான் தன் தந்தையிடம்;

முனிவரை வணங்கி விவரங்கள் கூறி
"இனிச் செய்ய வேண்டியது யாது?" என,

"செல்வாய் நீ உன் குலகுரு சுக்கிரரிடம்;
சொல்வார் அவர் உந்தன் கடமைகளை!"

சுக்கிரர் ஆசி வழங்கி ஆரத்தழுவினார்,
மிக்க மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் அளவளாவினார்.

வீர வேள்வி செய்து பெற்ற மேன்மையை
விவரமாக கூறினான் வீரன் சூரபத்மன்.

"இனிச் செய்ய வேண்டியவை எவை எனக்
கனிவுடன் கூறுங்கள் எம் குலகுருவே!"

குரு நன்மைகளையே கூற வேண்டும்
குரு சுக்கிரர் இதற்கு ஒரு விதிவிலக்கு!

"பதியும், பசுவும் ஒன்றே! பாசம் பொய்!
மதியாதே வினையை, வினைப்பயனை!

ஆற்றும் வினைகளை அஞ்சாது ஆற்றுக!
அறம், மறம் என்பவை அறிவின்மையே;

மறு பிறப்பு என்பது ஒரு முழுப் பொய்!
பிறப்பில் தேவரையும் விஞ்சினாய் நீ!

நீயே பிரமன்! தேவர்கள் உன் பகைவர்கள்!
தீயோரை தண்டிப்பது செய்யத் தக்கதே!

தேவர் கோனைச் உடன் சிறைப்படுத்து!
தேவரை, முனிவரை, ஏவல் செய்வாய்.

கொலை, களவு, காமம் என்றவற்றை
நிலை குலையாமல் செய்து வருவாய்!

ஆயிரத்தெட்டு அண்டங்களுக்கும் சென்று,
ஆட்சியை நன்கு நிலை நாட்டிவருவாய்!"

2( # 10). SUKRA'S ADVICE.

Soorapadman was very pleased with the boons he has acquired from Lord Siva. He went back to his father the sage Kasyapa and asked, "Sir! what is to be done by me now?".

The sage told him to go to his kulaguru and seek his advice. Sukra was very happy to hear of the boons given by Lord Siva. He did not guide his king in the proper path. He created delusions by his wrong teachings.

"There is no difference between the god and the man. There is no rebirth after death. There is no such thing as karma palam for our actions. There is no such division as Dharma and Adharma.

You are now superior even to the devas! You realise that you are the Brahma now. All the Devas are your natural enemies. They need to be punished. Imprison Indra who keeps killing the asuras.

Make the Rushis your servants. You can do whatever you wish to do. You have the power and Siva's protection. First of all go to the 1008 worlds of which you are the ruler now. Establish your rule there and then come back to me"

2 (# 11 a). தத்துவங்கள்.

அறிவுத் தத்துவம் தோன்றும் மூல பிரகிருதியில்;

அஹங்காரத் தத்துவம் அதலிருந்து தோன்றும்;

அஹங்காரத்தில் இருந்து தோன்றும் ஐம்புலன்கள்;

அவற்றில் இருந்து தோன்றும் ஐம்பெரும் பூதங்கள்;

மண் தத்துவத்துக்கு விரிந்து பரந்து அமைந்துள்ளன

அண்டங்கள் ஓர் ஆயிரம் கோடி எண்ணிக்கையில்;

அண்டங்கள் அனைத்தும் பொன் நிறமுடையவை;

அண்டங்கள் ஆயிரத்தெட்டு உன்னுடையவை இன்று;

அண்டங்கள் அனைத்தின் இயல்பை அறிந்திட

அண்டம் ஒன்றின் இயல்பைக் கூறுகிறேன் நான்;

அண்டத்தின் அகலம் நூறு கோடி யோஜனை ஆம்;

அண்டத்தின் உயர்ச்சியும் நூறு கோடி யோஜனை;

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 ( # 11 a). A UNIVERSE.

Budhdhi thathva is born out of Moolap Prakruthi.

Ahankaara thathva is born out of Budhdhi thathva.

The five subtle elements are born out of ahankaaram.

Form these five subtle elements the five elements viz

aakaasam, vayu, agni, jalam and earth are born.

The earth exhibits itself as numerous universes.

They are ten thousand million universes in the cosmos.

Of these one thousand and eight belong to you.

If you know about one universe then you know about

every universe.

They are very much similar in every aspect.

The universe is golden in colour.

It is eight thousand million miles high and equally wide.

2 (# 11 b). ஏழுகடல்களும், தீவுகளும்.

உவர் நீர்க் கடல் சூழ்ந்தது சம்புத் தீவு.

பாற்கடலால் சூழப்பட்டது சாகத் தீவு.

தயிர்க்கடலால் சூழப்பட்டது குசத் தீவு.

நெய்க்கடல் சூழ்ந்தது கிரௌஞ்சத் தீவு.

கருப்பஞ்சாற்றுக் கடல் சூழ்ந்தது சால்மலி.

தேன் கடலால் சூழப்பட்டது கோமேதகம்.

நன்னீர்க் கடலால் சூழப்பட்டது புஷ்கரம்.

சப்த சாகரங்களும் தீவுகளும் இவைகளே!

2 (# 11 b). THE SEVEN SEAS AND ISLANDS.

There are seven islands surrounded by seven seas.

They are as follows:-

Jambu dwipa is surrounded by a sea of salt water.

Saka dwipa is surrounded by a sea of milk.

Kusa dwipa is surrounded by an ocean of curd.

சம்புத் தீவின் நடுவில் மேருமலை;
அம்புய மொட்டை நிகர்த்த அதில்

அடுக்குகள் மூன்று அமைந்துள்ளன.
நடுமுடியில் நான்முகனின் மனோவதி;

நெடுமாலின் வைகுந்தம் மேற்கு திசையில்,
வடதிசையில் சிவனின் ஜோதிட்கம்,

எட்டு திசைகளில் பரவி அமைந்துள்ளன
எட்டு திக்பாலகர்களின் இருப்பிடங்கள்;

வெண்ணிற மந்தர மலை கீழ் திசையில்
பொன்னிற கந்தமாதன மலை தெற்கில்;

நீலநிற விபுலமலை உள்ளது மேற்கில்
சிவந்த சுபார்சுவ மலை வடக்கு திசையில்!

மந்தர மலையில் நிற்பது கடம்ப மரம்;
கந்தமாதனத்தில் உள்ளது நாவல் மரம்;

விபுலமலையில் நிற்பது அரசமரம்;
சுபார்ச்சுவதில் உள்ளது ஆலமரம்.

2 (# 11 c). THE MOUNT MERU.

In the middle of Jambu dwipa is the mount Meru.

Its shape resembles a lotus bud.

It has three levels.

In the central peak is situated Brahma's Manovathi.

In the west Vishnu's Vaikuntham is situated.

In the north-eastern side Siva's Jyothishgam is situated.

The eight dig paalakaas live in the eight directions.

The white Mandara mountain is in the East.

A huge Kadamaba tree stands towering over it.

The golden Gandhamaadanam is situated in the south.

A huge Jambu tree stands towering over it.

The blue coloured Vipula mountain is in the west.

A giant Pipal tree stands towering over it.

The red coloured Supaarswa is situated in the north.

A giant Vata tree stands towering over it.

2 (# 11 d). ஒன்பது வர்ஷங்கள்.

நாவல்மரம் கந்தமாதனத்தில் நின்றதால்,
நாவலன்தீவு ஆகிவிட்டது பாரதவர்ஷம்;

பெருகிய பழச்சாறு ஆறாகப் பாய்ந்துசென்று
பெறும் ஜம்பூநதம் என்னும் அழகிய பெயரை.

பருகியவர் அடைவர் செம்பொன் நிறத்தை;
பெறுவர் ஆயுள் பதின்மூன்றாயிரம் ஆண்டு.

சிருங்க மலை வடகடல் இடையே குருவர்ஷம்;
சிருங்கமலை ஸ்வேதமலை இடையே இரணியம்;

இரமியம் ஸ்வேதமலை நீலமலைகளின் இடையே;
இலாவிருதம் மேருமலையைச் சுற்றிலும் அமையும்.

மாலியவான் கீழ்க்கடல் இடையே பத்திராசுவம்;
மேற்கடல் கந்தமாதனம் இடையே கேதுமாலம்;

ஏமகூடம் நிடதம் இடையே அரிவர்ஷம்;
ஏமகூடம் இமயம் இடையே கிம்புருஷம்,

இமயம் தென்கடல் இடையே பாரதவர்ஷம்;
இமயத்தின் வடக்கே நிற்கும் திருக்கயிலை.

2 ( # 11 D). THE NINE VARSHAS.

Since a Jambu tree stood in Bhaatatha varsham, it is called as Jambu Dwipa.

The juice of the great fruits of the tree flows as a river called Jambunatham.

Those who drink the juice acquire a golden-hue and live for 13,000 years.

Kuru Varsha is spread between the Srunga mountain and the North sea.

Hiranvat Varsha is spread between the Srunga and Swetha mountains.

Ramyaka Varsha is spread between the Swetha and the Blue mountains.

Ilavrutha Varsha is the area surrounding the Mount Meru.

Bhadraaswa Varsha is spread between the Maalyavaan and the Eastern sea.

Ketumaala Varsha is spread between the Gandamaadanam and the Western sea.

Hari Varsha is spread between the Hemagoodam and Nishaadam.

Kimpurusha Varsha is spread between the Hemagoodam and the Himaalayaas.

Bhaarata Varsha is spread between the Himalayas and the Southern sea.

Kalilaash giri stood to the north of Himalayas.

2 (# 11 e). பாரத வர்ஷம்.

உழுது பயிர் செய்து வாழ்பவர்கள்;
தொழுது சிவன் அருள் பெறுபவர்கள்;

நல்வினை, தீவினை ஈட்டுபவர்கள்;
நற்குணம் மாறிமாறிப் பெறுபவர்கள்;

ஆற்றல், பெருமை, சீர், அறிவு, நிறை,
ஆயுள், வடிவம், உணவு, செயல்களால்

வேறுபடுவார் வேறு வேறு இடத்தில்
வேரூன்றிய மனிதர்கள் தமக்குள்.

பயிரிடுவர் நெல் முதலிய தானியங்கள்,
உயிர் வாழ்வார் கனி, காய், கிழங்குகளால்;

நல்வினை தீவினை துய்க்க ஒரே இடம்,
நல்லவர்க்கும், அல்லாதவர்க்கும் இதுவே.

முனிவரும், தேவரும் தம் குறைகள் நீங்க
தனித்துத் தவம் செய்யும் பூமி இதுவே!

2 (# 11 E) BHARATA VARSHAM .

The people are farmers and grow their food.

They worship Siva and seek his grace.

They earn punya and papa by their various actions.

They are good or bad by turns.

Their abilities, fame, greatness, intelligence, life span,

shape, form, food habits, and activities vary from place

to place.

They grow grains like paddy and live on fruits,

vegetables and roots.

It is the only place to exhaust the merit or demerits of

our actions.

Even rushis and Devas come here to do penance and

nullify their defects and demerits.

2 (# 11.f) உலகங்கள்.

நிலவுலகு சம்பூத் தீவு, அண்டச் சுவர் இடையே;
நிலவுலகுக்கு மேலே நிலவும் கதிரவன் மண்டலம்.

திங்கள் உலகம் அமையும் கதிரவன் உலகுக்கும் மேலே.
திங்கள் உலகுக்கு மேலே உள்ளது விண்மீன் உலகம்;

புதன், சுக்கிரன், செவ்வாய், வியாழன் , சனி என,
இதமாக உள்ளன ஐந்து தனித்தனி உலகங்கள்.

சப்தரிஷிகளின் மண்டலம் இதற்கும் மேலே!
சப்தரிஷிகள் மண்டலத்துக்கு மேல் துருவலோகம்,

புவர் உலகம் நீண்டுள்ளது துருவலோகம் வரையில்;
புவர் உலகுக்கும் மேலே நீண்டுள்ளது சுவர் உலகம்;

சுவர் உலகுக்கும் மேலே நீண்டுள்ளது மக உலகம்;
மக உலகுக்கும் மேலே நீண்டுள்ளது சன உலகம்;

சன உலககுக்கும் மேலே நீண்டுள்ளது தவ உலகம்;
தவ உலகுக்கும் மேலே நீண்டுள்ளது சத்தியலோகம்;

சத்திய உலகுக்கும் மேலே நீண்டுள்ளது பிரமலோகம்.
அத்தனை அண்டங்களின் அமைப்பும் இங்ஙனமே!

பிரமலோகத்துக்கும் மேலே நீண்டுள்ளது திருமால் உலகம்.
திருமால் உலகுக்கும் மேலே நீண்டுள்ளது சிவலோகம்.

இவை அனைத்தும் ஒரு அண்டத்தின் அம்சங்கள்;
இதைப் போன்றதே ஒவ்வொரு அண்டமும் அறிவாய்!
