விழுந்து விழுந்து நகைக்கலாயின;

இப்போது நகைத்தது வானத்து நிலா;

The sun does not thine there, nor the moon and the stars, nor these lightnings, and much less this fire. When he shines, everything shines after him; by his light all this is lighted. --Mundaka Upanishad 2.2.10

சிறப்பாகவே செய்தான் தன் பணிகளை அவன்;

எஜமானனின் உத்தரவுகளை அவன் மீறலானான்;

தலயாத்திரை சென்ற எஜமானன் வீடு திரும்பினார்;

சினம் தலைக்கேறிவிட்டது அந்த எஜமானனுக்கு;

#186. The lips that utter lies...

A rich man had employed an assistant to manage his properties and business while he would have to go on long tours. He was a busy man and trusted his able assistant completely.

The assistant was quite smart and did his assigned duties quite well. But as days rolled by, he started to imagine himself to be the real owner of everything under his care. He forgot that he was merely a caretaker and not the real owner of those properties.

To anyone who talked to him he would say without batting an eyelid, "This house is mine. So also this beautiful garden and the well and the pond seen in the garden."

His master had forbidden him from fishing in the pond. But he started fishing in it everyday- defying the orders of his master.

His master returned one day without prior notice. He flew into a rage after seeing that his instruction was disobeyed by his assistant. He fired the assistant and sent him away.

The poor assistant lost his job and had no savings of his own. He had to leave the palatial mansion and become care of the highway by a stroke of misfortune.

All the tasty meals he used to enjoy were taken away from him rudely in one moment.
It is said that "The lips that utter lies will not get to taste good food"

வாழ்ந்தனர் வறுமையிலும் செம்மையுடன்;
வாழ்ந்தனர் வறுமையிலும் பெருமையுடன்;

நினைவு படுத்திக் கொண்டே இருங்கள்;

வாடிய முகத்துடன் வீடு திரும்பினார் குரு;

சீடனின் மனைவி ஒரு செல்வச் சீமாட்டி;

சிறுவனை அனுப்பிக் குருவை அழைத்தாள்;

"கவலை இன்றி செல்லுங்கள் உமது இல்லம்;

வீடு திரும்பினான் இரவில் ஜவுளி வியாபாரி;

"வேண்டும் எனக்கு விலையுயர்ந்த வஸ்திரங்கள்;

விரைந்தான் ஜவுளி வியாபாரி தன் கடைக்கு;
விரைந்தான் வஸ்திரங்களுடன் தன் வீட்டுக்கு;

#187. "Mercy is thy name a Mother"?

In ancient India Brahmins were entrusted with learning and teaching the others. Most of the Gurus were very poor but they were contented and well respected. They believed in "Simple Living and High Thinking"

A Guru might be poor but his disciples might be rich men. So one of the disciples of this Guru was a rich cloth merchant rolling in money. But he was as miserly as he was rich. It was difficult to get anything out of him.

The Guru's book of BhAgavatham was falling apart. Books were very precious in those days when printing was still unknown. So the Guru decided to protect his book by covering it with a piece of strong cloth. He went to is rich disciple and requested for a piece of cloth to cover his book.

The disciple spoke words oozing honey but would not give his the cloth his Guru needed. He promised the Guru to give it to him sometime in the future - provided the Guru kept reminding him of his promise regularly! The Guru felt crestfallen and went back.

The merchant's wife was a very kind and good natured lady. She sent for the Guru and learned all that happened . She told the Guru, "Revered sir! Please go home. The cloth will be delivered to you at your door steps tomorrow."

When the merchant came home on that night she made a strange request. She wanted two of the finest cloths he had in his shop. The merchant promised to give them to her the next day. But she wanted them then and there.

The merchant had no choice but to go to his shop and fetch the cloths. He could dodge the request of his spiritual Guru, but could he dodge the request of his lovely wife?

The cloths was delivered to the Guru the very next day. The merchant's wife sent a message to the Guru,"Sir! In future if you need anything at all just let me know. It will be sent to your home promptly."

It is a universal truth that we can get whatever we want by asking the mother rather than the father.

"Mercy is thy name a Mother?"

#188. அரசனின் அத்வைதம்

"சர்வம் பிரம்ம மயம்" என்றார் குருநாதர்;

வெகுவாக மகிழ்ந்தான் இது கேட்ட அரசன்;

உற்சாகமாகச் சென்றான் அந்தப்புரத்துக்கு;

" அனைத்தும் பிரம்மம்; அனைவரும் பிரம்மம்;

"மதியீனருக்குச் சாதகம் ஆகும் அத்வைதம்;
அதிலிருந்து விடுவிப்போம் அரசனை நாம்;

மறுநாள் உண்ண அமர்ந்தனர் இருவரும்;

கோபம் திரும்பியது தன் குருவின் மீது;

மாறினார் மீண்டும் அரசனின் குருவாக;

குனிந்தான் தலை அரை வேக்காட்டு அரசன்;
இனிச் செய்யான் இது போன்ற செயல்களை;

அரசி அரசி தான்; அவள் சேடி சேடி தான்;

#188. The King's Adwaitham

King's Guru taught him the Principle of Adwaitham. "Sarvam Brahma mayam. All are equal since all are brahmam". The king liked this concept that all are equal very much.

He had been infatuated by the beautiful maid of his queen. But she would accept his advances only if he made her another queen. Now this teaching had opened a new avenue for the king!

He went to the Queen's quarters and said with great enthusiasm, " My Guru said that we are all brahmam. So we are all equal in every way. So henceforth this beautiful maid will become another queen to me!"

The Queen quivered on hearing this announcement. What could be worse than sharing her husband and her royal position with one of her maid servants?

She surrendered to the wise Guru and begged him to help her in this problem. The Guru said, "I know that a half-baked mind would use the Principle of Adwaitham for his own personal gains. Do not worry oh Queen!

Together we can help the king to come out of his delusion. When you serve food for us tomorrow, please keep a chunk of cow dung in a small mud cup along with the king's food."

The queen did as she was told by the Guru. The king saw the chunk of cow dung in his plate and went into a rage . The Guru pacified him by saying, "This is also Adhwitham. Why do you flare up thus?'"

Now the king's anger turned on the Guru and he roared in anger,' You claim to be an Adhwaitha-vaathi . So you can go ahead and enjoy eating the cow dung"

The Guru transformed himself into a pig. The pig ate the cow dung with great relish. The pig now changed back into the Guru. So the Guru had eaten the cow dung .

The king hung his head in shame. He realised that The queen would always be a queen and her maid would always remain a maid. He would not commit such blunders in the future.

The queen remained forever grateful to the wise Guru for saving her from a danger.

பாகன் மிகவும் நல்லவன்; பரிவு கொண்டவன்;

முதல் குருடன் தடவினான் யானையின் கால்களை;

இரண்டாம் குருடன் தடவினான் அதன் துதிக்கையை;

மூன்றாம் குருடன் தடவினான் யானையின் வயிற்றை;

நான்காம் குருடன் தடவினான் யானையின் காதுகளை;

பாகன் தலையிட்டான் வளரந்த பிரச்சனையில்;
புகட்டினான் நல்லறிவினை போரிடும் குருடருக்கு ;

#189. Four Blind men and an elephant

Futile arguments about God have always existed in the history of human race. People blindly discuss about one another's God and claim that their own god is superior to the God worshipped by everyone else!

"God is One" but since they can not understand God as a whole, they indulge in petty fights and futile arguments depending on what little they know about God!

One fine day four blind men decided to 'see' the majestic royal elephant using their sense-of-touch. The mahoot was a kind man and allowed the blind men to explore the elephant with their hands.

The first blind man felt the strong pillar-like leg of the elephant. Immediately he declared that an elephant looked like a pillar.

The second blind man felt the trunk of the elephant. He declared immediately that an elephant looked like a huge pounding pestle.

The third blind man felt the huge belly of the elephant and declared the elephant looked like a huge pot. The fourth blind man felt the large ears of the elephant and declared that an elephant looked like winnows.

Each of them claimed that his impressions was right and all the others were wrong. Soon a verbal fight endued there. The mahoot intervened in the argument and told them thus:

"Each of you is right partly but wrong on the whole. The elephant has all the parts you describe and much more. None of you have explored the elephant in full and so your knowledge is very limited."

Devotees do pretty much the same thing while thy discuss about Gods. They argue using their limited knowledge and vision and forget that God is much more than what they all can comprehend working together!

சென்றான் ஒரு மனிதன் ஒரு குருவை நாடி;

குரு அறிந்து கொண்டார் அவனை உள்ளபடி;

தன்னிலும் தாழ்ந்த பொருளைத் தேடிச் சென்றான்;

எடுக்கச் சென்றான் அவன் தன் மலத்தை;

தேவருக்குப் படைக்கலாம்; விரும்பி உண்ணலாம்;

#190. Worse than a dog!

To come out the shackles of the worldly bondage in a human life, one needs a spiritual guru. He must be one who had realized the truth - to be able to liberate the others who come to him asking for help.

So one man decided to seek liberation with the help of a mahan guru. The man went to the guru with great humility and said, " I am very humble. I know that I worse than a dog. Kindly liberate me from the worldly bondages."

The guru knew that one who was humble need not proclaim it - since he would also appear to be humble. However he told the man thus, "Go and fetch something which is lower in esteem than yourself. I shall accept you as my disciple."

The man went looking around for anything which was lower in esteem than himself. But strangely he could not find a single thing which was lower than him. Finally he spotted his own feces and decided that certainly it must be lower than himself.

He bent down to pick it up and was startled when his feces spoke to him in a harsh tone, "Do not touch me again you miserable creature. I was a heavenly sweet suitable for divine offerings until you ate me. Now I have become a foul smelling and repulsive product - thanks to your association. If you associate with me one more time, I shudder to think what might become of me. So do not touch me again!"

The man felt as if he was struck with a whip and realised where he really stood in the rungs of humility.

#191. The fasting while feasting!

One day, Sage VyAsa wanted to cross the river Yamina. The gopis also waiting to cross the Yamuna river. But not a single boatman was to be seen on that day. The gopis were getting distressed by the delay.

VyAsa spoke to the and said,"I shall help you to cross the river. But I am very hungry now. Can you give me something to eat?'

The gopis gave the Sage VyAsa the milk, cream and butter which they had with them. VyAsa ate till his hunger was appeased. He now spoke to the river Yamuna and said,

"If it is true that I have been fasting all day today, you must make way for us to cross you without any harm!"

Lo and behold! The river opened up and showed them a narrow path to pass through it. They all hurried across the river by walking. But the gopis were getting confused thinking about the words spoken by the sage.

He has feasted on the milk, cream and butter given by them. Yet he spoke of fasting and the river Yamuna also obeyed him - making his words absolutely true. HOW?

Those innocent girls were ignorant of this fact. Even though the sage appeared to have eaten what they had offered him, those were actually eaten by the antharyAmi who resides in every living jeeva.

It was this firm belief that made the words spoken by the sage absolute truth!

The human excreta, as in this story, does not object when it gets eaten by a dog or a pig but it does not want to be even touched by a man! That shows how great a man is in the eyes of his own body waste!
The above post has some very great original ideas hidden in it.

Corollary 1:
Drink Morargin (the first and fresh sample of urine collected and recycled in the early morning)
and eat your own excreta - if you want to become a genius!
( By extrapolation all the pigs and the street dogs must have become great geniuses long ago!)

Corollary 2.
The fetus floats in the feces and the urine of its mother when in her womb.
Science says fetus is in the uterus, the feces in the large intestines and the urine in the bladder.

Corollary 3.
The fetus feeds on the excreta of its mother.
But Science says the fetus gets all its nutrition through the umbilical cord from its mother.

Corollary 4.
The Devas make the bad things into good things. Actually the Devas hand down the bad things to the maanavas and dhaananvas and keep the best things for themselves.

Amruta mathanam gave only the Goddess of Intoxication vAruNi to the asuras whie the Devas managed to take possession of all the wonderful things that emerged from the Ocean of milk.
Indra distributed his brahmahathhi dosham to the Women, Trees, Water and Earth.

Corollary 5
The asuras are supposed to
They themselves get the worst of every deal made with the Devas and could do nothing better!

The degree of the EGO is reflected when one cannot even accept the concept that
MAN might be the lowliest among all living creatures - considering his selfishness, his bias, his hatred, his jealousy, his vengeance, his treachery, his butchery and his short sightedness.

To top everything else, he does all these in spite of the supreme intelligence conferred on him by the All powerful Supreme God!

What a shame on the humans!
