8#6a. The mountains and rivers
AruNodA river rises from the Mandara mountain and flows by the east of IlAvrita. The Pavana Deva keeps the surroundings of the earth there filled with nice smell for ten Yoyanas around.
The rose-apples, of the size of an elephant, fall down upon the earth from the high peaks of the mountain Mandara and break into pieces. The sweet scented juice flows down as the river Jamboo by the south of IlAvrita.
The Devi Bhagavati there is pleased with the Juice of that rose-apple (Jamboo) and is known by the name of JambAdini. The rushis, Devas and NAgas worship the lotus-feet of the merciful Devi, praying for the welfare of all the JeevAs.
The name of the Devi destroys diseases, and all the sins. DevAs always worship and chant the names of the Devi as the Remover of all obstacles. She is installed on both the banks of the Jamboo river.
If men recite Her names KokilAkshi, KaruNA, KAmapoojitA, KatoravigrahA, DevapoojyA, DhanyA, Gavasthini and worship, so they are taken care of in this life and the next.
From the juice of the Jamboo fruit, the wind and the rays of the Sun create a rare gold called JAmboonada. Out of this gold ornaments are made for the wives of the Immortals and the VidyAdharas. Devas make crowns, waist bands and armlets out of this gold for their sweet-hearts.
There is a big Kadamba tree on the mountain Supars'va. Five streams of honey called Madhu DhArA run by the west of IlAvrita. The Devas drink it and their mouths become filled with the sweet fragrance. The air carries this sweet fragrant smell to a distance of even one hundred Yoyanas.
The DhAres'vari MahA Devi - who grnats all the desires of the Bhaktas, is worshiped by the Devas and is the presiding Deity of the woods and forests all around.
DArEswari, MahADevi, Bhakta kAryakAriNi, DEvaPoojyA, MahOtsAhA, KAlaroopA, mahArouNai, KarmabAdai, KAlAngi, KAmakOtipravathini are some of the names of this Devi.
