32. பேரண்டவன்

வடதிசையில் வாழ்ந்தான் அரக்கன் பேரண்டவன்;
வெடவெடக்கும் அண்ட சராசரம் பேர் கேட்டவுடன்!

பிரம்மாண்டமான சேனை வெள்ளத்துடன் வந்ததும்,
பெருமானை தியானித்தான் சக்கர ராஜன் ஒரு கணம்.

அசுர சேனைக்கு இணையான அரிய சேனை ஒன்று
அதே கணத்தில் தோன்றியது ஆயுதங்களுடன் அங்கு.

கொடிய யுத்தம் தொடங்கி நடந்தது உடனே – போரில்
மடிந்தனர் எண்ணற்ற வீரர்கள் இரு சேனைகளிலும்.

வெற்றியும், தோல்வியும் இன்றி நீண்ட போரில்
வெறி கொண்ட அசுரர்களின் கை ஓங்கலானது.

சக்கர ராஜனின் படை வீரர்கள் பின் வங்கலாயினர்;
மிக்க சினம் கொண்டு அவன் செய்தான் ஹூங்காரம்.

சினத்தில் தோன்றினான் தேவ புருஷன் பாவகன்!
“சின்னா பின்னம் செய்வாய் அசுரர்களை!” என

பாவகன் தலைமையில் பொருதனர் மீண்டும்;
பாய்ந்து முன்னேறிய சக்கர ராஜனின் வீரர்கள்.

பாவகன் மீது பாய்ந்தனர் அசுரர்கள் இப்போது!
பாவகன் எய்தான் மயக்கும் மோகன அஸ்திரம்!

மறந்தனர் தம்மையே; துறந்தனர் போரையே;
எறிந்தனர் ஆயுதங்களை; மறிந்தனர் நிலத்தில்!

பேரண்டவன் எய்தான் ஹாஹாகாரம் செய்தபடி
மோகன அஸ்திரத்தை வெல்லும் ஞான அஸ்திரம்.

தூக்கத்தில் இருந்து எழுபவர்போல மீண்டும்
எழுந்து தாக்கினர் ஆயுதங்களால் அசுரர்கள்.

எய்தான் பாவகன் தன் கிரௌஞ்ச வாளியை!
எய்தான் பேரண்டவன் பைசாச அஸ்திரத்தை!

இரண்டும் தாக்கின அசுரர்கள் படையினையே!
பேரண்டவன் எய்தான் பிரமன் தந்த சூலாயுதம்!

வாயு அஸ்திரத்தை எடுத்து விடுத்தான் பாவகன்;
வாயு அஸ்திரம் வாயுவென விரைந்து சென்றது.

வாரிச் சுருட்டிப் பாய்போல எறிந்தது அசுரனை!
நேரில் பார்த்தவர் வீழ்ந்தனர் வியப்புக் கடலில்!

மண்டை உடைந்து மடிந்தான் அசுரன் பேரண்டவன்;
சண்டை முடிந்து திரும்பி விட்டான் சக்கர ராஜன்.

இனிதாக ஆணைகளை நிறைவேற்றிய பின்னர்
இணைந்தான் ஸ்ரீனிவாசனின் சக்கரத்தில் மீண்டும்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

வேறு புராணங்களில் காணப்பட்ட
சில கதைகளின் தொகுதி முற்றியது.

பொங்குக மங்களம்!!! தங்குக எங்கும்!!!

7#11a. தேவியின் அறிவுரை

பக்தியுடன் ஜபித்து வந்தான் சத்திய விரதன்
நித்தியம் தேவியின் நவாக்ஷர மந்திரத்தை.

பிசாசு உருவில் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான் - குரு
வசிஷ்டரின் ஆசிரமத்தின் அருகிலேயே.

வேதியர்களிடம் வேண்டினான் சத்திய விரதன்,
"விதிப்படி யாகம் புரியவேண்டும் எனக்காக!"

"சபிக்கப் பட்டுள்ளாய் மன்னன் அருணனால்!
சபிக்கப் படுள்ளாய் குல குரு வசிஷ்டரால்!

திரிகின்றாய் உலகில் பிசாசு வடிவில் - இனிப்
புரிய முடியாது யாகம் உனக்காக!" என்றனர்.

'இனி நற்கதிக்கு வாய்ப்பே இல்லை!
இனி உயிர் வாழ்வதில் பயனே இல்லை!'

தீப் புகத் துணிந்து விட்டான் சத்திய விரதன்!
தீ மூட்டி, நீராடித் தேவியைத் தியானித்தான்.

தேவி தோன்றினாள் விண்ணில் அவனுக்கு;
தேவி கூறினாள் அறிவுரைகள் அவனுக்கு!

"அழித்துக் கொள்ளாதே உன்னை நீயே!
அழைப்பு வரும் உன் தந்தையிடமிருந்து.

முதுமை அடைந்து விட்டான் தந்தை - அதனால்
புது மன்னன் ஆக்கிவிடுவான் உன்னை!" என்றாள்.

மாற்றிக் கொண்டான் தீக் குளிக்கும் முடிவை;
போற்றினான் தடுத்து நிறுத்திய தேவியை!

சென்றார் நாரதர் அயோத்தி நகருக்கு;
சொன்னார் விவரங்களை மன்னனுக்கு!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

7#11a. Devi's advice

Satya vratan kept chanting Devi's Navaakshara mantra. He lived in the form of a hideous ghost near the ahsram of sage Vasishta. He requested the rushis to perform a yagna to help him regain his original form.

But the rushis bluntly refused saying," You have been cursed by your father king Arunan, you have been cursed by your kula guru Vasishta. You roam the face of the earth as a ghost. We can't perform Yagna for your sake."

Satya vratan lost his last ray of hope for redemption. He decided to end his life by jumping into a roaring fire. He lit a roaring fire. He took bath and meditated on Devi while getting ready to enter the fire.

Devi took pity on him and appeared to him in the shy. She told him,"Do not destroy yourself. Your father will send for you and make you his successor very soon. He is aged and wants to retire from active raajya bhaaram. "

Satya vratan changed his mind and did not jump into the fire. He lived on and chanted Devi's Navaakshari mantra on and on.

Narada went to Ayodhya and told all these things to King Arunan.

20b. தேவர் துன்பம்.

“மறைகள் கூறிய நல்லுரையைக் கேட்டாய்!
தருகின்றாயா எம்பிரானின் அவிர் பாகம்?”

“பித்தனுக்கு, ஒரு பெண்ணுடன் சுடுகாட்டில்
கூத்தாடுபவனுக்கு நான் அவிர் கொடேன்!”

திருமால், பிரமனிடம் கேட்டார் வீரபத்திரர்,
“மறுமொழி கூறுங்கள்! இது சரிதானா?”

திருமாலும், பிரமனும் வாய்மூடி நின்று,
மறுமொழி என்று எதுவுமே கூறவில்லை.

கடித்தார் பற்களை வீரபத்திரர் சினத்தால்;
அடித்தார் தடியால் திருமால் மார்பினை.

குட்டினார் நான்முகன் தலைகள் குலுங்க;
வெட்டினார் தேவியரின் நாசி, நகில்களை!

தேடி ஓடினர் ஒளியுமிடம் தேவர்கள்;
வாடி வதங்கினர் பதைத்துத் தவித்து.

தப்பி ஓடிய முழுத் திங்களைத் தள்ளி
அப்பினார் கால் சின்னம் தெரியும்படி.

கதிரவனுக்குக் கொடுத்த ஓர் அறையில்
உதிர்ந்தன அவன் பற்கள் அத்தனையும்!

விடுத்தான் தன் இன்னுயிரை ஆதவன்.
எடுத்தார் நமனின் தலையைக் கொய்து.

விண்ணிற் பறந்தான் இந்திரன் குயிலாக,
வீழ்த்தினார் குயிலை வாளால் வெட்டி!

வெட்டினார் தீக் கடவுளின் கரங்களை.
வெட்டினார் தீயின் ஏழுநாவுகளையும்!

கிள்ளினார் அவன் மனைவி நாசியை!
தள்ளினார் நிருதியைத் தடியால் அடித்து!

வணங்கிய ருத்திரர்களுக்கு மட்டும்
வழி விட்டார் தப்பி வெளியே செல்ல.

எழுவால் அடித்தார் வருண தேவனை;
மழுவால் அடித்தார் வாயு தேவனை.

வீழ்த்தினர் சூலத்தால் குபேரனை!
விரட்டினார் ஈசானிய ருத்திரனை.

வீழ்த்தினார் கணையால் அசுரேந்திரனை!
வீழ்த்தினார் வேள்வித் தலைவன் எச்சனை!.

KANDA PURAANAM - DAKSHA KAANDAM

6#20b. Deva’s sorrow.

Veerabaran asked Dakshan, ‘You heard the words of wisdom spoken by the Veda and Prananva. Will you give Siva’s Havis now?”

“I will never give Havis to the mad Siva who dances with a woman in the cremation grounds!”

Veerabadran demanded Vishnu and Brahma, ” Do you think what Dakshan does is correct?” Neither of them replied to this question. They stood silently.

Veerabadran became very angry and bit his teeth hard. He hit Vishnu on his chest with the dandam. He rapped Brahma so hard that all his four heads shook. He cut of the noses and breasts of Brahma’s three wives.

The rest of the Deva ran seeking shelter or a hiding place but in vain. The
Full moon tried to run to safety. Veerabadran pushed him to the ground and stamped with his feet leaving a permanent marking on the moon.

A hard slap made the Sun shed all his teeth and fall dead . Veerabadran cut off the head of Naman himself. Indra transformed into a cuckoo and tried to escape. He was cut with a sword.

The hands and the seven tongues of Agni Devan were chopped off. The nose of his wife was plucked off!

Niruthi was beaten up. The rudras were allowed to escape unhurt. Varuna was hit by the Ezhu and Vaayu by the mazhu. Kuberan fell to a trident.

Esaaniya Rudra was chased away. Asurendran was killed by an arrow and Echchan the head of the yagna was killed.

7#11b. அருணனின் அறிவுரை

கழிவிரக்கம் கொண்டான் தந்தை அருணன்;
'இழிசெயல் புரிந்த மகன் இன்று மாறிவிட்டான்.

ஒறுப்பது தேவையில்லை இனியும் அவனை !
வெறுப்பது தேவையில்லை இனியும் அவனை!

முடிசூட்ட வேண்டும் சத்திய விரதனுக்கு;
விடைபெறவேண்டும் வனம் செல்வதற்கு.'

கந்தல் ஆடைகளைக் கோர வடிவினைக் கண்டு
நொந்து போய்விட்டான் மன்னன் அருணன்.

அணைத்துக் கொண்டான் சத்திய விரதனனை.
இணக்கமாகக் கூறினான் பல அறிவுரைகள்.

"கொள்ள வேண்டும் தர்மசிந்தனை எப்போதும்;
கௌரவிக்க வேண்டும் அந்தணரை எப்போதும்.

தேடவேண்டும் பொருளைத் தர்மமான வழிகளில்;
நாடவேண்டும் நம் நாட்டு மக்களின் நன்மைகளை.

போற்ற வேண்டும் முனிவரைத் தவசீலரை.
பெறவேண்டும் புலன்களின் மீது ஆதிக்கம்.

மந்திராலோசனை நடக்க வேண்டும் ரஹசியமாக.
எந்த எதிரியையும் துச்சமாக எண்ணி விடாதே !

எதிரிடம் அன்பு கொண்ட அமைச்சன் விரோதி.
எதிரியின் எண்ணத்தை ஒற்று அறியவேண்டும்.

செய்யவேண்டும் தானம், தருமம் அனுதினம்
செய்யக் கூடாது வாதம், பிடிவாதம் எப்போதும்.

நம்பாதே அன்பு கொண்ட மகளிரையும் கூட .
நட்புக் கொள்ளாதே நீ சூதாடிகளுடன் கூட.

வேட்டையில் வேண்டாம் விரக்தியும், வெறுப்பும்.
தேட்டமும் தெளிவும் தேவை எப்போதும்.

கொடு தானம் வேதம் அறிந்த அந்தணனுக்கு;
கொடு அன்னம் வேதம் அறியாத அந்தணனுக்கு.

நீதி சாஸ்திரங்களின்படி நடந்து வருவாய்.
நியாயமான வரியைக் கஜானவில் சேமிப்பாய்!"

7#11b. Arunan'advice

King Arunan was moved with pity towards his son Satya Vratan. "My son has reformed now. He has won the grace and mercy of Devi Paraa Shakti. There is no need for me either to hate him or punish him any more. I must crown him as my successor and take leave of him to go to do penance."

When he saw his son in tatters and a hideous form he broke down. He hugged his son and advised him as a king should his successor. Arunan told Satya Vratan,

"Always entertain good thoughts. The brahmins and learned pundits must be honored. Wealth must be earned by a fair means. The first and foremost thoughts should be the welfare of our citizens.

Gain control over your pancha indriyas. The counselling with the ministers must be done in absolute secrecy. Do not slight or ignore any enemy however weak he maight appear to be.

The minister who has a soft corner for your enemy is also our enemy. Know the plans of your enemies by employing clever spies.

Give daanam everyday. Do not argue for petty things and unimportant issues. Do not trust completely any women - even those who seem to love you dearly.

Do nor befriend gamblers. Do not give permission for hunting the animals. At the same time do not go to the other extreme and start to hate hunting of the wild animals.

You need to be clear minded and focused at all rimes. Give daanam to the brahmins who have learned the Vedas. Give food to those brahmins who have not learned Vedas.

Always go according to the dharma saastraas. Always save the tax collected from the citizen in the treasury. "

20c. இழிவும், அழிவும்

நிகழ்ந்தவற்றைக் கண்டான் தக்கன்.
“இகழ்ச்சி அடையுமோ என் வேள்வி?

எந்தை உரைத்தபடி சிவபெருமானைச்
சிந்தையில் நிறுத்தித் தவம் செய்தேன்

மேன்மைகள் தந்தான் இறைவன் - ஆனால்
புன்மகனாகிக் குற்றங்கள் பல புரிந்தேன்!

முனிவரின் நன்னெறிளையும் மறுத்து
இனிய மகள், மருகனை வெறுத்தேன்!

வீரபத்திரன் வந்து கேட்ட போதும் நான்
வீராப்புப் பேசினேன்; அவி தர மறுத்தேன்!

வீரபத்திரரும், பத்திரகாளியும் இருக்க
வீண் கனவே தப்பிப் பிழைக்கும் செயல்!”

வீரபத்திரன் தக்கன் தலையை வெட்டி - அது
விழும் முன்னர் கையால் பற்றி எறிந்தார்.

வேள்வித் தீ உண்டுவிட்டது தலையை!
கேள்வி கேட்டவர் தலைகள் பந்தாயின.

இருவரும் சேர்ந்து கொன்று விட்டனர்
அருகில் இருந்த முனிவரை, தேவரை.

பூதப்படையினர் புகுந்தனர் யாகசாலை.
பூதப்படையினர் துரத்திப் பிடித்தனர்;

வெருண்டனர் சிலர், வெகுண்டனர் சிலர்,
மருண்டனர் சிலர், மயங்கினர் சிலர்,

கலங்கினர் சிலர், புலம்பினர் சிலர்,
கடித்தனர், அடித்தனர் தேவரைப் பூதர்.

ஒடித்தனர், முறித்தனர் கழுத்து, தோளை.
பிடுங்கினர் நாவை, நாசியைக் கண்களை!

கொளுத்தினர், எறிந்து கொன்றனர் பலரை.
அவிழ்த்தனர் ஆநிரை, யாகப் பசுக்களை.

அழித்தனர் அரம்பையர் உடற் கூறுகளை!
அழித்தனர் யாகக் குழியை, யாகத் தீயை!

இழிவு செய்தனர் தக்கனின் மருகரை.
அழித்து விட்டனர் தக்கன் யாகத்தை!

6#20.c. Total destruction.

Dakshan was shocked by these incidents. He wondered whether his yagna would become a total disaster?

He thought to himself. ” I did penance contemplating on Siva as advised by my father. Siva showered rare boons on me. But I became arrogant and turned against him.

I did not listen to the good advice given by Dadechi. I refused to give Siva’s havis when Veerabadran demanded for it. Escaping from Veerabadran and Badra kaali is an impossibLe dream!”

Veerabadran cut off Dakshan’s head and tossed it into the yaaga fire-pit. It got reduced to ashes and bones. Those who objected to this act, lost their heads as well. Badra Kali and Veerabadran killed all the rushis and Deva.

Now the unruly army of demons entered the yaagasaala. Some people got frightened, some others became angry, a few others got confused and yet a few other fainted. They all cried and lamented. They were chased by the demons who killed everyone there.

The animals kept for the offering were released to go free. The yaagaa fire was put out and Daksha's yagna became a complete disaster.

7#12a. விபரீத ஆசை

தந்தையின் அறிவுரைகளின்படி நடப்பதற்கு
மைந்தன் சத்தியவிரதன் ஒப்புக் கொண்டான்.

அருணன் சென்று விட்டான் வானப் பிரஸ்தம்
அருமை மகனுக்கு மணி முடி சூட்டிய பிறகு

மகிழ்ந்தாள் தேவி சத்திய விரதனின் பக்தியில்;
அளித்தாள் நல்ல உடலையும் உருவத்தையும்.

ஒழிந்து போயின அவன் செய்த பாவங்கள்;
அழித்து போனது அவன் கரிய கோர உருவம்.

யாகங்கள் பல செய்தான் சத்திய விரதன்.
போகங்கள் பல பெற்றான் சத்திய விரதன்.

சத்திய விரதனின் பெயர் திரிசங்கு ஆனது.
சக்தி தேவியின் அருள் பூரணமாக இருந்தது.

சத்தியத்துக்கு ஒருவன் என்று புகழ் பெற்றான்
சத்திய விரதனின் மகன் ஆன அரிச்சந்திரன்.

விமரிசையாக நடந்தது முடி சூட்டு விழா.
விபரீத ஆசை விளைந்தது திரிசங்குவுக்கு.

"மனித உடலோடு செல்ல வேண்டும் சுவர்க்கம்.
இனிய போகங்களை உடலால் துய்க்க வேண்டும்!

எந்த யாகம் செய்ய வேண்டும் நான் கூறுங்கள்
இந்த உடலுடன் நான் சுவர்க்கம் செல்வதற்கு?

நடத்தித் தரவேண்டும் அந்த யாகத்தை - நான்
உடலோடு செல்லவேண்டும் சுவர்க்க லோகம்!"

வசிஷ்டர் வெறுத்தார் இந்த விபரீத ஆசையை
வசிஷ்டர் மறுத்தார் இந்த யாகம் செய்வதற்கு.

7#12a. A strange desire.

Satya Vratan agreed to follow the words of wisdom uttered by his father King Arunan. Accordingly Arunan crowned Satya Vratan as his successor and left for Vaanaprastam.

Shakti Devi was pleased by the devotion shown by Satya Vratan. She absolved all his sins and gave him a good form and figure. He became blemish-less and his name became Trisanku. He performed several yagnaas and he was blessed with several bhogams or pleasures.

His son Harishchandran became famous as the man who spoke the truth always. His coronations was celebrated well. Now Trisanku got a strange desire. He wished to go to heaven with his human body and enjoy the pleasures of heaven.

He asked Vasishta, "Which is the yAagam to be performed by me to go to heaven with my body?" Vasishta did not like this idea and refused to perform that kind of yaaga.

20d. விஷ்ணுவின் போர்.

விழுந்தார் தடியால் அடிபட்ட மால்;
எழுந்தார் மீண்டும் தெளிவடைந்து!

கருடனை நினைத்தும் வரவில்லை;
கருடன் இறந்துவிட்டது தெரிந்தது!

சினத்தையே கருடனாக ஆக்கினார்.
சீரிய ஐந்து ஆயுதங்கள் ஏந்தினார்.

தேர் ஒன்று அனுப்பினார் பெருமான்;
தேரைச் செலுத்தினான் பிரம்ம தேவன்.

பத்திரரும், காளியும் ஏறினர் தேரில்.
பத்திரரிடம் கேள்வி கேட்டார் மால்,

“இகழ்ந்த தக்கனை அழித்து சரியே
இகழாத தேவரை அழித்தது சரியா?”

“சிவனை இகழ்ந்த தீயவன் தக்கனின்
அவியை ஏற்றதற்கு தக்க தண்டனை!

உன்னையும் அழிப்பேன் காத்துக் கொள்”
சொன்ன சொற்கள் சினத்தை வளர்க்க,

சொற் போர் ஒன்று நடந்து முடிந்தபின்
விற் போர் ஒன்று தொடர்ந்து நடந்தது!

மாலின் நெற்றியில் செலுத்திய கணை
மாலுக்கு மயக்கம் அளித்து நின்றது.

உருளைப் படையை வீசினர் மால்.
உருளையை விழுங்கினார் வீரபத்திரர்.

தடிப் படையை எறிந்தார் திருமால்
தடிப் படையை அழித்தார் வீரபத்திரர்.

வாட்படையை எடுத்தார் திருமால்.

சினம் தணிந்த வீரபத்திரரிடம் திருமால்
இனம் தெரியா தவறுக்கு வருந்தினார்.

6#20d. Vishnu’s war.

Vishnu had fainted when he was hit on the chest by Veerabadran’s dandam. He came round later and got up. He wished for Garudan but it did not appear. It had got killed.

Vishnu made his anger into another Garudan and mounted on it. He carried his five weapons and confronted Veerabadran and Badrakaali.

Siva sent down a chariot. Veerabadran and Badrakaali got into the chariot and Brahma became the charioteer.

Vishnu asked Veerabadran,” You killed Dakshan since he had insulted Siva. Why did you kill all the others?”

Veerabadran replied,”The others got killed because they had attended the yagna and accepted the havis given by Dakshan. On your guard. I am going to kill you also.”

They both fought with bows and arrows. Veerabadran hit Vishnu’s forehead with an arrow. It made Vishnu feel dizzy. He threw his discus on Veerabadran who promptly swallowed it whole.

He threw his dandam which was promptly destroyed by Veerabadran. Vishnu now took out his sword and right then an asareeri said, “Become calm!”

Vishnu became calm and felt sorry for fighting with Veerabadran.

7#12b. சண்டாளனின் உருவம்


"போக முடியாது தேவலோகம் உடலோடு;
ஏக முடியும் யாகத்தால், உடல் விழுந்த பின்!

செய்வாய் யாகத்தை முதலில் விமரிசையாக;
எய்துவாய் சுவர்க்கம் உடலை விடுத்த பிறகு."

விளக்கம் இனிக்கவில்லை திரிசங்குவுக்கு;
இளக்காரமாகக் கூறினான் வசிஷ்டரிடம்.

"கேட்டு விட்டேன் முட்டாள்தனமாக உம்மிடம்!
கிட்டுவர் யாகம் செய்வதற்கு வேறு ஒரு குரு!"

"சண்டாளன் ஆகக் கடவாய் மதி கெட்டவனே!
பெண்டாள நினைத்தாய் வேதியன் மனைவியை.

கொன்று தின்றாய் நான் வளர்த்த பசுவை - எனவே
என்றுமே கிடைக்காது உனக்கு சுவர்க்க லோகம்!"

உடல் வனப்பு மாறி விட்டது ஒரே நொடியில்.
உருவம் ஆகிட்டது ஒரு சண்டாளன் போலவே.

மின்னும் ஆபரணங்கள் கருமை ஆகின.
பின்னர் நாறியது உடல் இறைச்சி போல.

வருத்தக் கூடாது ஒரு பக்தனனை இன்னொருவன்
வருந்தச் செய்தனர் இருவரும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர்.

விரும்பவில்லை அரண்மனைக்குத் திரும்பிட!
விரும்பவில்லை மனைவி மக்களைக் கண்டிட.

அரிச்சந்த்ரன் அனுப்பினான் அமைச்சனை;
திரிசங்கு மறுத்து விட்டான் திரும்பிச் செல்ல!

"விகார உடலுடன் வரமாட்டேன் அரண்மனைக்கு ;
குமாரன் ஆளட்டும் அயோத்தியை ! என்றான்.

திரும்பிச் சென்றனர் அமைச்சர் தலைநகர்.
வருந்தினான் மனம் தந்தைக்காகத் தனயன்.

7#12b. ChandaaLan

Vasishta said again,"No one can go to Swarga lokam with a mortal body nor can he enjoy the pleasures in heaven with a human body. If you do a yagna now, you may ascend to heaven after the body drops down!"

But Trisanku did not like this explanation. "I am sorry I asked for your help. I can get any number of gurus to perfom this yaagaa for my sake."

Vashishta flew into a temper and said,"You are a cursed fool. You abducted the wife of a brahmin during her wedding. You killed and ate my cow. You can never enter swargga lokam. May you become a ChaNdaaLa now!"

Trisanku's handsome figure changed in a moment. He assumed the form of a chaNdaaLan. His ornaments becam black in colour and his body emenated the smell of flesh. He did not want to go back to Ayodhya as a ChaNdaaLa nor meet his family in that form.

Harischandra sent some ministers and requested Trisanku to return to Ayodhya. Trisanku said, "I shall not come there with my deformed body. Let my son Harischandra rule Ayodhya.

The ministers had to go back quietly. Harishchadran felt pity for his father Trisanku.

KANDA PURAANAM -DAKSHA KAANDAM

20e. சிவனும், உமையும்

சிவனும், உமையும் அங்கு காட்சி தந்தனர்.
சிவனை வணங்கினார் வீரபத்திரக் கடவுள்.

திருமாலும், நான்முகனும் நாணி
பெருமானை வணங்கி வழிபட்டனர்.

தக்கனும், தேவரும் இறந்தது கண்டு
மிக்க வருந்தினாள் உமை அன்னை.

“இறந்தவரை உயிர்ப்பிக்க வேண்டும்!”
இறைவனிடம் இறைஞ்சினாள் இறைவி.

பெருமான் ஆணையிட்டார் வீரபத்திரரிடம்,
“திரும்பவும் பிழைக்கச் செய் இறந்தவரை!”

“இறந்தவர் அனைவரும் மீண்டும் எழுவீர்!”
உறங்கியவர் போல் எழுந்தனர் அனைவரும்!

பிழைத்தும் நாணினர், அஞ்சித் தொழுதனர்;
பிழை பொறுத்துப் பிழைக்க வைத்த ஈசனை!

அஞ்சேல் எனத் தஞ்சம் அளித்தான் ஈசன்
நஞ்சுண்ட நாயகன் நமது சிவபெருமான்.

6#20e. Siva and Uma.

Siva and Uma appeared there. Veerabadran prostrated to them. Vishnu and Brahma also worshiped Siva.

Uma felt very upset on seeing the dead Deva and rushis. She requested Siva, “Please resurrect all those who had got killed here!”

Siva ordered Veerabadran, “Bring back to life all those who have got killed today!” Veerabadran said, “All of you please arise!”

All those who lay dead woke up as if from a deep sleep. They felt ashamed and frightened on seeing Siva whom they have indirectly insulted along with Dakshan. Siva blessed them all.

7#13a. விஸ்வாமித்திரர்


அரிச்சந்திரன் அரசாள்வதை அறிந்து
திரிசங்கு மிகவும் மனம் மகிழ்ந்தான்.

தியானித்து வந்தான் தேவியைக் குறித்து,
தியாகம் செய்தான் அரசபோக வாழ்வை.

திரும்பினார் விஸ்வாமித்திரர் தவம் முடிந்து;
இருந்தனர் குடும்பத்தினர் மிகவும் நலமாக!

"எப்படிக் காப்பாற்றினாய் கடும் பஞ்சத்தில்
தம்படிக் காசு இல்லாமல் நம் குழந்தைகளை?"

ஒன்று விடாமல் சொன்னாள் மனைவி - மகன்
ஒருவனை விற்கக் கொண்டு சென்றது முதல்.

திரிசங்குவை வழியில் சந்தித்தது - அவன்
திரும்பிச் செல்லும்படித் தன்னிடம் கூறியது;

தினமும் உணவு கொண்டு வந்து தந்தது - ஒரு
தினம் வசிஷ்டரின் பசுவைக் கொன்று தின்றது;

"சாபம் அடைந்து சண்டாளன் ஆகிவிட்டான்;
தாபம் தீர்ப்பீர் தங்கள் தவ வலிமையால்!

நன்மை செய்தான் திரிசங்கு நம் குடும்பத்துக்கு;
நன்மை செய்ய வேண்டும் நாமும் அவனுக்கு!

ஆபத்துக் காலத்தில் உதவினான் திரிசங்கு
அவன் தாபம் தீர்ப்பீர்!" என்றாள் ரிஷிபத்னி

தேடிச் சென்றார் திரிசங்கு இருந்த இடத்தை;
நாடினர் அவன் துயரின் காரணம் அறிந்திட!

"நிறைவேற்றுவேன் உன் விருப்பத்தை நான்
குறைவின்றி உறுதியாக!" என்று மொழிந்தார்.

"உடலுடன் செல்ல விரும்புகின்றேன் சுவர்க்கம்;
உடன்படவில்லை வசிஷ்ட முனிவர் உதவிட!"

சிந்திக்கத் தொடங்கினார் விஸ்வாமித்திரர் இந்த
விந்தையான கோரிக்கையைக் குறித்து ஆராய்ந்து.

7#13a. Sage Viswaamitra

Trisanku became happy to learn that Harischnada was now ruling over Ayodhya. He spent his time in meditating up on Devi. He gave up the king's life of pleasures and comforts.

Viswaamitra returned after completing his long penance. He was surprised to see his family hale and healthy - despite the twelve-years-long famine which lasted there.

He asked his wife,"Dear wife! How did you manage to look after our children and feed them well even during the severe famine, since I had not left any money with you?"

The wife told everything in great detail - from the time she took one of her sons to be sold for money. how she met Trisanku on the way, how he took pity of the children and promised to provide food the family, how he had brought food every single day without fail, how he had to kill Vasishtaa's cow and how he came to be cursed by Vasishta.

Vasishta has cursed him to become a chaNdaala because of the help he rendered to our family. Please help him just as he helped us in difficuties."

Viswaamitra went in search of Trishanku and found out the matter. Trishanku said,"I want to ascend to the swarggam with my human body. But Vasishta said it was impossible and cursed me to become chaNdaaLaa."

Viswaamitra wondered and pondered about this strange and weird request by Trisanku.

7#14a. திரிசங்கு சுவர்க்கம்


"உடலுடன் செல்ல வேண்டும் சுவர்க்க லோகம்!"
உள்ளக் கிடக்கை ஆகிவிட்டது திரிசங்குவுக்கு.

யாகம் செய்ய அழைத்தார் விஸ்வாமித்திரர் - ஆனால்
யாகம் செய்ய முன் வரவில்லை வேதியர்கள் எவரும்.

தடுத்து விட்டார் வசிஷ்டர் அந்த வேதியர்களை;
கெடுத்துவிட்டார் யாக ஏற்பாடுகளை முற்றிலுமாக.

"தவ வலிமையைப் பிரயோகித்துத் திரிசங்குவைத்
தனிப் பெருமை அடையச் செய்வேன் நான்!" என

ஜலத்தைக் கையில் எடுத்தார் விசுவாமித்திரர் - தம்
ஜபத்தின் பலனைத் தத்தம் செய்தார் திரிசங்குவுக்கு!

"தந்தேன் நான் சேர்த்து வைத்த புண்ணியத்தை உனக்கு
தந்தேன் அந்த சுவர்க்க லோகத்தை உனக்கு!" என்றார்.

எழும்பினான் வானில் ஒரு பறவை போல திரிசங்கு.
அழையா விருந்தாளியாக நெருங்கினான் சுவர்க்கம்.

திடுக்கிட்டனர் அவனைக் கண்டதும் தேவர்கள்.
தடுத்தனர் அவன் சுவர்க்கத்தில் நுழைந்து விடாமல்.

விழத் தொடங்கினான் வேகமாகத் தலை குப்புற.
அழத் தொடங்கினான் வேகத்துக்கு அஞ்சியதால்!

குப்புற விழுந்தால் மிஞ்சாது ஒரு எலும்பு கூட.
"காப்பாற்றுங்கள் என்னை முனிவரே!" என்றான்.

"நில் அங்கேயே !" என்று கையை உயர்த்தியவுடன்
நின்று விட்டான் அந்தரத்தில் திரிசங்கு தலை கீழாக.

இரண்டாவது சுவர்க்கத்தை சிருஷ்டிக்க விரும்பினார்;
பிரம்மாண்ட யாகம் தொடங்கினர் விஸ்வாமித்திரர்.

7#14a. Trisanku swarggam

The only desire filling the mind of Trisanku was to reach the heaven in his mortal body! He requested Viswaamitra to perform the appropriate yaaga. But Vasishta had stopped the other rushis from attending that yaagaa. He ruined completely the arrangements made by Viswaamitra for the yaagaa.

Viswaamitra decided to use the power earned by his intense penance in lifting Trisanku to heaven. He took some water from his kamandalam and said, "I give you the power earned by me in penance. May you reach heaven in your mortal body!"

Trisanku rose in the sky like a big bird and reached the gates of the heaven. The Devaas there stopped him from entering the heaven and pushed him down headlong.

Trishanku was falling freely under the great gravitational attraction. He got frightened by the ever increasing speed and started crying for help from Viswaamitra.

"Oh Sage! Please save me! Please protect me!" Viswaamitra lifted his right hand and said,"Stop there" and the falling king Trisanku stopped in mid air and hung upside down.

Viswaamitra decided to create a brand new heaven exclusively for Trisanku.
