5#32b. சுமேதஸ் முனிவர்

பேராசை பிடித்தவர்கள் – சிந்தியாமல்
யாரையும் பலிகடா ஆக்கிவிடுவார்கள்!’

தன்னந் தனியனாக குதிரை மேல் அமர்ந்து
முன்னம் சென்றிராத ஆசிரமம் சென்றான்.

முனிவர் சுமேதஸின் ஆசிரமம் இருந்தது
மூன்று காத தூரத்தில் அவன் நாட்டிலிருந்து.

பூத்துக் குலுங்கின மரம், செடி, கொடிகள்;
காற்றில் ஒலித்தன பறவைகளின் பாடல்கள்.

கொஞ்சி விளையாடிய இயற்கையின் எழில்
விஞ்சியது விரவிய ஆழ்ந்த அமைதியில்!

கேட்டது சீடர்கள் வேதம் ஓதும் நாதம்!
கட்டினான் குதிரையை, நடந்தான் சுரதன்.

சால மரத்தின் நிழலில் அமர்ந்திருந்தார் – மான்
தோலின் மீது குரு மஹான் சுமேதஸ் முனிவர்.

சாந்த பாவமும், தவத்தின் தேஜசும் கலந்து
காந்தம் போல இழுத்தது சுரத மன்னனை!

கால்களில் விழுந்தான் சுரத மன்னன் – அவர்
கால்களைக் கழுவினான் கண்ணீர் அருவியால்.

மனம் உருகிவிட்டது மாமுனிவருக்கு – அவனை
இனம் கண்டு கொண்டார் ஓர் நல்ல அரசன் என்று.

“நாடாள வேண்டிய மன்னன் தனியே
காடாள வந்த காரணம் கூற வேண்டும்!”

“தவ சிலரே! இழந்து விட்டேன் என் நாட்டை!
இழந்தேன் அரசை! பிரிந்தேன் குடும்பத்தை!

ஓடி வந்துவிட்டேன் சத்ரு பயத்தால் – உம்மை
நாடி வந்து விட்டேன் நீர் அபயம் அளிப்பீர் !”

5#22b. Sage Sumedas

‘The courtiers are always greedy. They may betray me to the enemy for a fat purse!’ King Suratha mounted on his loyal steed and made haste towards the ashram of sage Sumedas, which was close to his country but which he had never before visited even once.

Nature shone in her great splendour and full glory there. All the creepers, trees, plants and bushes were laden with flowers and fruits. The birds’ songs merged into a sweet jargon. The distant chanting of the Veda by the disciples of the sage was refreshing to hear.

Suratha tied his horse and walked towards the ashram. Guru mahaan Sumedas was seated under a saalaa tree on a deer skin.

The calm composure of the sage and the tejas earned by all the penance he had performed attracted king Suratha as a magnet does an iron piece. He fell at the feet of the sage and washed them with his tears now flowing copiously.

The heart of the kind sage melted at this sight. He knew that the man at his feet was a good king and spoke to him “Please tell me why a king who must be busy ruling his country has come to the forest all alone in tears”

King Suratha spoke to him now,”Oh venerable sage! I lost my country, my rulership and had to desert my family due to the fear of enemies. Kindly give me abhayam here!”

12b. விண்ணப்பம்.

அரிமுகன் போருக்கு வந்துள்ளதை
அறிந்து அஞ்சியது அமரர் கூட்டம்.

முருகக் கடவுளின் அருகே சென்று
உருகி விண்ணப்பித்தது ஒரே குரலில்.

“ஆயிரம் தலைகள் உடையவன் அவன்;
ஈராயிரம் கரங்கள் உடையவன் அவன்;

ஆயிரம் உலகங்களை வென்றவன் அவன்;
ஆயிரம் யோசனை உயரமானவன் அவன்.

மாயையில் தன்னிகர் அற்றவன் அவன்;
மனத்தினில் வஞ்சனை நிறைந்தவன் அவன்.

உலகினை உண்டு உமிழ வல்லவன் அவன்;
உலகினை ஒரு கரத்தால் எடுத்தவன் அவன்.

கொடிய முச்சூலப் படையினன் அவன்;
நடக்கையில் கடலை நகர்த்துபவன் அவன்;

மேருவைக் கையில் எடுத்தவன் அவன்;
சூரபத்மனுக்கு இளைய அவுணன் அவன்.

ஆற்றலில் அண்ணனை மிஞ்சியவனைத்
தோற்கடித்து எம்மைக் காக்க வேண்டும்!”

4 # 12.b. The Deva’s pray to Murugan.

When the Devas learned that Singamukhan had come to the war front, they got frightened and ran aimlessly. Then they went to Murugan and prayed to him in unison,

“Singa mukhan has one thousand lion faces; He has two thousand strong hands; He had conquered one thousand worlds; He stands one thousand yojanas tall.

He excels in Maayaa and is very cunning as well as sharp. He had carried the world with one of his hands.

He can swallow the whole world if he wishes to do so. He is armed with a terrifying trisoolam

When he walks the earth is shaken and the seas get displaced. He can pick up the mount Meru with one palm.

Though he is the younger brother, he is stronger than Sooran. Please defeat him in the war and save us!”

Introduction

ஸ்ரீ வேங்கடேச புராணம்

ஸ்ரீநிவாச புராணம் என்று தனியாக எதுவும் இல்லை. பதினெட்டுப் புராணங்களில் வேங்கடேசரின் லீலைகள் பன்னிரண்டு புராணங்களில் காணப்படுகின்றன. அவற்றை எல்லாம் தொகுத்து திருவேங்கட மஹாத்மியம் என்ற பெயரில் ஒன்று சேர்த்துள்ளார்கள். திருமலையில் கிடைத்த கல்வெட்டு ஒன்று கி பி 1491 ஜூன் மாதம் 27ம் தேதி பாஸிந்தி வேங்கடதுறைவார் தாம் தொகுத்த திரு வேங்கட மஹாத்ம்யத்தை விண்ணப்பம் செய்ததாகக் காணப்படுகிறது. 1884 ல் இது தெலுங்கு புத்தகமாக தேவஸ்தானத்தரால் வெளியிடப்பட்டது 1896ல் இரண்டாவது பதிப்பும் 1928 ல் மூன்றாவது பதிப்பும் வெளி வந்தன.

Venkatesa puraanam

1. சூத முனிவர்

நைமிசாரண்யம் சிறந்த தபோவனம்;
நிமிஷம் வீணாகாமல் நடக்கும் அங்கு,

பகவத் த்யானமும், பகவத் சர்ச்சைகளும்,
அகத்தை வென்ற முனிவர்கள் இடையே!

சூத முனிவரைக் கேட்டனர் பிற முனிவர்கள்
“பூதலத்தில் ஆதி நாராயணனுக்கு உகந்த இடம்,

பகவான் நிகழ்த்திய லீலாவிநோதங்கள், என்னும்
மகாத்மியத்தைக் கேட்க வேண்டும் செவி குளிர!”

அன்புடன் அளித்த வேண்டுகோளை ஏற்றார்
என்றும் இறைவன் புகழ் பேச விரும்பும் சூதர்.

“கணக்கில் அடங்காது நாரயணனின் லீலைகள்,
வணக்கத்துக்குரிய சேஷாசலத்தில் நடந்தவை.

வராக கல்பத்தில் நிகழ்த்திய அற்புதங்களை ஒரு
புராணமாக உரைக்கின்றேன் எனத் தொடங்கினார்.

#1. Sootha maharushi

NeimichaaraNyam is a wonderful tapovanam. Bagavath dhyaanam and discussions about God go on there all the time, between the sages and rushis who have conquered their minds.

Sootha maharushi enjoyed talking about God. The rushis gathered in NeimichaaraNyam told him, “We want to listen to the stories about Narayanan. Which is his favorite place on earth? What are the leelaas and miracles performed by him there?”

Sage Soothaa replied, “The leelaas performed by Naaraayanan in Seshaachalam are endless. I shall relate them to you as a puraaNam.”

5#32c. வணிகன் சமாதி

“அச்சம் இன்றி வாழலாம் எங்களுடன் அரசே!
நிச்சயம் வரமாட்டார்கள் உன் பகைவர் இங்கே!

வன வாசத்துக்கு ஏற்ப வாழவேண்டும் இங்கு;
கனி, காய், கிழங்கு வேர்களை மட்டும் உண்டு.

தங்கி விட்டான் சுரத மன்னன் அவர்களுடன்;
பங்கிட்டு உண்டான் உணவை அவர்களுடன்.

கவலை அடைந்து சிந்தித்தான் சுரதன் ஒரு நாள்,
‘நிலைமை என்னவோ தெரியவில்லை நாட்டில்!

துன்பப் படுகின்றனாரோ அன்புப் பிரஜைகள்?
முன்னம் சேர்த்த செல்வம் விரயம் ஆகிறதோ?

கொள்ளை அடிக்கின்றனரோ என் கஜானாவை?
கொலை செய்கின்றனரோ என் குடி மக்களை ?’

வந்தான் வைசியன் சுரதன் இருந்த இடத்துக்கு;
வந்தவன் வாழ்க்கையில் அடிபட்டு நொந்தவன்.

“யார் நீர் ? எங்கிருந்து வருகின்றீர் கூறும்!
யார் உமக்கு துரோகம் விளைவித்தார் கூறும்!”

“நான் ஒரு வணிகன்; என் பெயர் சமாதி;
நான் செல்வந்தன்; செய்தேன் தான தர்மம்.

பொருளாசை மிக்க மனைவி மக்களால் - நான்
அருளின்றிக் கொடுமைப் படுத்தப் பட்டேன்.

கசந்தன உறவுகள், சலித்தது வாழ்க்கை;
கானகம் வந்தேன் உறவுகளைத் துறந்து!”

5#32c. The Merchant Samaadhi

The sage Sumedas told king Suratha, “You may live with us without any fear. I assure you oh king! your enemies will not dare to come here and disturb you. But you can not expect the comforts of a kingly life in a forest. You will have to eat fruits, vegetable, and roots as we all do.”

Suratha stayed at the ashram and shared the simple natural food the sage and his disciples ate. His mind was constantly worrying about the state of his kingdom and the situation prevailing there.

‘Are my citizens being squeezed dry? Is my wealth amassed earlier being plundered? Are they looting my khazaana? Are they punishing my good countrymen?’

One day there came another man dejected in life. Surathan asked him, “Who are you sir? What brings you here?”

The new comer answered,”I am a merchant named Samaadhi. I was very rich and spent a lot of my wealth for good causes. My wife and children were money minded and objected to my donating money even for worthy causes.

They ill treated me. I felt rejected and I got dejected with my life and sore with all my relatives. I have come to the forest leaving everything behind.”

12c. அரிமுகனுடன் போர்.

வீரவாகு போர்க்கோலம் பூண்டார்;
நூறாயிரத்து எண்மருடன் சென்றார்.

கடுமையான போர் தொடங்கியது.
கொடுமையான தாக்குதல் நடந்தது.

முன்னணி முறிந்தது பூதர்களின்;
தண்டப் பிரயோகம் செய்தார் சிங்கர்.

சிந்தின அவுணர்களின் பற்கள்;
சிதறின அவுணர்களின் தலைகள்,

தசமுகன் பொருது வீழ்ந்தான்;
துன்முகன் செய்தான் மாயப்போர்.

நூறு நூறு வடிவங்கள் எடுத்தான்;
ஒரு பூதரைத் தாக்குவதற்கு.

அறிவுப் படைக்கலம் செலுத்தி
அழித்தார் மாயையை வீரவாகு.

வில்லை ஒடித்து மார்பைத் தாக்கித்
தொல்லை தந்தார் வீரவாகுத் தேவர்.

மயங்கி விழுந்தவன் பின் தெளிந்து,
மாயமறையால் விண்ணில் மறைந்தான்.

4 # 12. c. War with the asuraS.

Veerabaahu donned his armor and got ready for the war. The one hundred thousand and eight warriors accompanied him.

A terrifying war broke out between the armies of demons and the asura. When the demons suffered a setback, Singar took over and started using his dandam with expertise.

The teeth of the asuras fell off and their heads got smashed and crushed. Dasamukhan fell dead in the war. Durmukhan did war by treachery. He assumed one hundred forms for attacking every single demon.

Veerabaahu shot his arrow of knowledge which removed the maayaa. Veerabaahu broke the bow and hit Durmukhan in his chest.

He swooned but came his senses soon. He chanted the secret mantra and disappeared in the sky.

2a. ஸ்வேத வராஹம்

ஓராயிரம் சதுர்யுகங்கள் பிரமனின் ஒரு பகல்;
ஓராயிரம் சதுர்யுகங்கள் பிரமனின் ஒரு இரவு.

பிரமனின் ஒருநாள் பொழுது நீளும் நமக்கு
இரண்டாயிரம் சதுர்யுகங்களாக பூவுலகில்!

ஒரு நாள் முடிந்ததும் எரிப்பான் சூரியன்;
ஒரு துளி மழை விழாது பூமியின் பரப்பில்!

முன்னமேயே இதை அறிந்த முனிவர்கள்
சென்று அடைக்கலம் புகுவர் ஞானவுலகில்.

மரம், செடி, கொடி, ஜீவராசிகள் அனைத்தும்
எரிந்து சாம்பலாகிவிடும் அதீதஉஷ்ணத்தில்.

தொடர்ந்து வீசும் காற்று பல ஆண்டுகளுக்கு.
அடர்ந்த மேகத்திறள் உருவாகும் வானில்.

கொட்டும் கனமழை பூமியின் மேற்பரப்பு அதிர;
கெட்டிப்பட்டு பூமி பதிந்துவிடும் பாதாளத்தில்!

பொங்கி எழுகின்ற ஜலப் பிரவாகத்தால்
தாங்கும் நீர் மகரலோகம் வரையிலும்!

வடியாது நீர் பிரமனின் இரவு முடியும் வரை
படைப்பைத் தொடங்க வேண்டும் மீண்டும்!

வெள்ளைப் பன்றி உருவெடுப்பார் விஷ்ணு;
வெள்ளத்தில் தேடிச் செல்வார் பூவுலகினை.

பாய் போலச் சுருட்டி ஒளித்து வைத்திருப்பான்
பாதாளத்தில் பூமியை அரக்கன் ஹிரண்யாக்ஷன்.

தரணியை வெளிக் கொணரும் முன்பு வராஹம்
ஹிரண்யாக்ஷனை வெற்றி கொள்ள வேண்டும்!

தொடங்கும் துவந்த யுத்தம் இருவரிடையே!
தொடரும் துவந்த யுத்தம் வெகு நீண்டகாலம்!

கூரிய நகங்களாலும், கோரைப் பற்களாலும்
கிழித்து அரக்கனை அழித்து விடும் வராஹம்.

ஜலத்தில் கலந்து விடும் பெருகும் குருதி நதி
ஜலப்ரவாஹம் ஆகிவிடும் செந்நீராக அப்போது!

VENKATESA PURAANAM

2a. Sweta Varaaham

The day time Brahma lokam lasts for one thousand chatur-yugams on earth. Brahma’s night time lasts another one thousand chatur-yugams on earth. Brahma’s one full day and night lasts for two thousand chatur-yugams on earth.

When Brahma’s one such day gets over, the Sun would start scorching the earth mercilessly. Not a single drop of rain would fall from the sky. The sages and rushis who would know this well before they happen, would take refuge in the gnaana lokam.

Tress, plants, creepers and all living things would get scorched by the sun’s rays. Fierce wind would blow for many years. Dense rain clouds would form in the sky, as the earth get cooled by the wind.

Then rain would pour down, beating the surface of the earth harsh. The earth would become denser and harder and sink to the paataala lokam. The rain water would stand as high as the Mahar lokam till Brahma’s night gets over.

Creation must take place on the next day all over once again. Vishnu would assume the form of a white boar and go looking for the earth in the Paataala lokam.

HirNyaakshan would have hidden the earth in the Paataala. Vishnu – the white boar- would have to win over him and kill him before the earth could be saved and brought up from Paataala.

The white boar and the HinraNyaakshan would engage in a dwandva yuddham. It would go on for a very long time. Finally the white boar would kill the asuran HirNyaakshan using his sharp canine teeth and nails.

The stream of blood flowing from HiraNyaakshan would mix with the water making it a red colored ocean.

5#32d. சுரதன், சமாதி

“அரச குலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவன் சுரதன் நான்!
அரசையும், நாட்டையும் பறி கொடுத்தேன்!

வஞ்சித்து விட்டனர் என் மந்திரிகள் என்னை;
அஞ்சித் தஞ்சம் புகுந்துவிட்டேன் வனத்தில்.

துக்கத்தை விட்டுத் தள்ளும் நீரும் – நாம்
மிக்க நல்ல நண்பர்கள் ஆகிவிடுவோம்!

சுகமயம் என்பது ஏது ஒரு சம்சாரிக்கு?
துக்கமயம் ஆகும் சம்சாரியின் வாழ்வு!

புத்திரர், மனைவி, இல்லத்தை மீண்டும்
எத்தினம் காண்பேனோ அறியேன் நான்!”

“பாவ, புண்ணியங்களை அறியாத உறவுகள் எதற்கு?
பார்த்தால் என்ன நன்மை? பாராவிடில் என்ன தீமை?

பகைவர்களே நமக்குத் தீங்கிழைக்கும் உறவினர்கள்!
பகைவர்களும் நண்பர்களே நமக்கு நன்மைசெய்தால்.”

“விசனம் இல்லாமல் தங்குவீர் என்னோடு – நாம்
விசனப் பட்டு சாதிப்பது தான் என்ன?" என்றான்.

“மனம் கவலையை மறக்க மறுக்கிறது மன்னா!
வனம் வந்த பின்னும் என் மனம் மாறவில்லை!”

“நாட்டைத் துறந்த கவலை வாட்டுகிறது என்னை!
நாடுவோம் நாம் முனிவரை, நல்வழி காட்டுவார்”

நாடினர் முனிவரைச் சுரதனும் சமாதியும்;
நாடினார் முனிவரை நல்வழி அறிந்திட.

5#32d. Suratha and Samaadhi

“I am king Suratha of a nearby kingdom. I lost my kIngdom and my ruler ship to my enemies. My own ministers have betrayed me.

I had to seek refuge in a jungle. We are safe here. You too please forget your worries and we two can be very good friends in the future.

A samsaari or a houeholder can never really be happy. His sorrows outweigh his happiness. I do not know whether or not I will see my country and meet my family ever again!”

Now Samaadhi spoke to Suratha, “What is the use of our
relatives who do not understand us and give us a hard time?

What is the good in meeting them? What is the loss in not meeting them. The relative who wrong us are also our enemies. The enemies who do us good are also our friends.”

King Suratha said, ” Please stop worrying. There is no point in worrying about what we can’t set right”

Samaadhi said, “My mind keeps worrying all the time. I thought I will be a different person after quitting my home but it has not really helped me!”

King Suratha said, ” Let us go to sage Sumedas and find out what is the effective means to overcome this state of mind. They went to the sage Sumedas and sought his advice in overcoming their sorrows.

12d. அரிமுகன் வந்தான்.

அவுணர் படையின் பின்னடைவால்
அரிமுகன் வந்தான் பூதப் படைமுன்.

எரி எழ மூச்சை உயிர்த்தான் அவன் .
எரிந்து போயின பூதர் ஆயுதங்கள்.

மலைகள், மரங்களைப் பெயர்த்து
மலை போல் நின்றவன்மீது வீசினர்.

கயிலையைச் சூழ்ந்த முகிலெனப்
பைய விழுந்தன பஞ்சுப்பொதி போல்.

குதித்தான் அரிமுகன் நிலத்தில்
குலுங்கியது பூமி அதிர்வுகளால்.

எற்றினான் பூதரைத் தேவருலகுக்கு;
எற்றினான் பூதரைக் கடல் நீருக்குள்.

எற்றினான் பூதரை நிலத்தின் மேல்.
எற்றினான் பூதரைத் திசைகள் தோறும்.

அள்ளினான்; தள்ளினான்; எற்றினான்;
உதைத்தான், மிதித்தான், நசுக்கினான்,

களைத்த பூதர்களை வலிமையால்
சளைக்காமல் அழித்தான் அரிமுகன்.

4 # 12. d. Singa mukhan appears.

When the army of the asura suffered a set back, Singamukhan came to the war front. He breathed fire which destroyed all the armaments of the demons.

They started throwing on him the uprooted trees and mountains. But he was so huge that these appeared as the clouds surrounding the mount Kailas and fell down like balls of cotton without hurting him.

He jumped down from his chariot. The earth shook under the impact. He kicked the demons into the sky, into the sea, on the ground and in every direction.

He picked them up in bunches, he threw them down, he kicked them, he stamped on them and crushed their bodies mercilessly. Thus he destroyed the army of the demons effortlessly.

2b. கிரீடாசலம்

ஞான லோகத்தில், தியானத்தில் இருந்த,
மோன முனிவர்கள் அறிந்தனர் இதனை.

தரணியைத் தன் முகத்தில் தாங்கி வந்தார்
வராஹ பெருமான் நீரிலிருந்து வெளியே.

ஸ்தாபித்தார் பூலோகத்தை முன்போலவே;
ஸ்தாபித்தார் சாகரங்களை முன்போலவே.

சிருஷ்டியைத் தொடங்கினான் பிரம்மதேவன்
சிருஷ்டித்தான் சூரிய, சந்திரரை முதலில்.

பிற ஜீவராசிகளையும் படைத்தான் - பின்னர்
பிரம்மதேவன் சரியான வரிசைக் கிரமத்தில்.

பூலோகத்தை மீட்ட வராஹ பெருமான்
பூவுலகிலேயே தங்கிவிட விழைந்தார்.

கருடனைப் பணித்தார், “வைகுந்தம் செல்க!
பிரியமான கிரீடாச்சலத்தைக் கொணர்க!”

வைகுந்தம் விரைந்தான் உடனே கருடன்;
வைக்கும் இடத்தையும் தேர்வு செய்தார்!

கோமதி நதிக்குத் தெற்கேயும், மற்றும்
கீழ்க்கடலுக்கு மேற்கேயும் அமைந்தது.

நாராயண கிரியே ஆகும் கிரீடாசலம்,
நவரத்தினங்கள் நிரம்பிய சிகரங்கள்!

காய் கனி, மூலிகைகளால் நிறைந்தது;
கந்தம் கமழும் மலர்களால் நிறைந்தது;

ஒலிக்கும் பறவைகளின் பாடல் கொண்டது
ஒலிக்கும் சுனைகள் நீரோடைகள் கொண்டது.

தேர்வு செய்த இடத்தில் மலையை வைக்கப்
பார்மீது ஆதிசேஷன் படுத்ததுபோல இருந்தது.

இருந்தது ஸ்வாமி புஷ்கரிணி என்னும் தடாகம்,
கிரிகளின் இடையே மற்றும் தருக்களின் நடுவே.

நவரத்தினங்கள் இழைத்த தூண்கள் தாங்கிட
நடுநாயகமாக அமைந்து இருந்தது விமானம்.

அழகிய மண்டபங்களோடு கூடிய விமானம்
அமைந்தது ஸ்வாமி புஷ்கரிணிக் கரையில்.

எழுந்தருளினார் வராஹ பெருமான் – தாம்
விழைந்தபடி பூவுலகில், விமானத்தின் கீழ்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#2b. Kireedaachalam

The sages and rushis who were in the Gnaana lokam realized this. Varaahamoorthi came out of the water supporting the earth on his face.

He established the earth as before. He established the seven oceans as before. Brahma started his creation. He created the Sun and the Moon first. Then he created the other living beings as per their order.

Varaahamoorthi wished to stay back on earth. He ordered Garuda,”Go to Vaikunta and bring my Kireedaachalam down to the earth. Garuda flew to Vaikunta.

Varaahamoorthi selected the spot where the Kireedaachalam must be placed. It was to the south of the river Gomati and to the west of the eastern ocean.

Naaraayanagiri and Kireedaachalam are one and the same. Its peaks were loaded with the precious gems. It was flourishing with vegetable, fruits and herbs.

Fragrant flowers bloomed on the hill. Birds sang their sweet songs and the running streams made a sweet gurgling sound.

When the Kireedaachalam was set on the selected spot, it resembled Aadiseshan sleeping on the earth. There was a sparkling pond called Swami PushkariNi in between the hills and midst the trees.

Gem studded pillars supported a vimaanam which had several beautiful manadapams attached to it. It was situated on the bank of the pond Swami PushkariNi. Varaahamoorthi took his place under the vimaAnam – as his heart had desired.

வணங்கினர் இருவரும் சுமேதஸ் முனிவரை,
“வணிகர் இவரது பெயர் சமாதி எனப்படும்.

துரத்தப்படுள்ளார் தன் மனைவி, மக்களால்;
துக்கம் கொண்டு வந்துள்ளார் இக் கனகம்;

இன்னமும் நீங்கவில்லை என் மனக் குறைகள்;
கண் மூடித் தூங்க முடியவில்லை என்னை மறந்து.

இன்னல்கள் அடைகிறேன் குடி மக்களை எண்ணி;
இன்னல்கள் அடைகிறேன் ராஜ்ஜியத்தை எண்ணி.

'கனவு போன்றதே இந்த உலக வாழ்க்கை' என்ற
நினைவு இருந்தபோதும் விளையவில்லை பயன்.

அலை பாய்கிறது என் மனம் பழக்க தோஷத்தால்;
அலையும் மனத்தை அமைதிப்படுத்துவீர்!”என,

முனிவர் நோக்கினார் துக்கித்துள்ள இருவரையும்,
கனிவுடன் கூறினார் தனது இனிய குரலில்,

“காரணம் ஒன்று பந்த மோக்ஷங்களுக்கு எனக்
கற்றறிந்தோர் கூறுகின்றனர் மஹா மாயையை.

மாயையின் வசப் பட்டவர்களே தெய்வங்கள்;
மாயையின் வசப் பட்டவர்களே தேவர்கள்;

மாயையின் வசப் பட்டவர்களே மானவர்கள்;
மாயையின் வசப் பட்டவர்களே தானவர்கள்;

மாயையை உடைப்பது மிகவும் கடினம்;
மாயை மயக்கும் முனிவரை, ஞானியரை.

சுரூவதத் தீவுக்குச் சென்ற நாராயணன்
கிருத யுகத்தில் செய்தார் கடும் தவம்.

மாறி மாறி வரும் சுக, துக்கங்களை ஒழித்துப்
பெறவேண்டும் பிரம்மானந்தம் என்று கருதி.”

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
