VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

#41d. The Raakshasi

Bad omens started appearing frequently. Initially Naraantakan ignored them. But after some time he consulted the astrologers. They said, “Vinayaka has been born in the world. That signifies the approaching destruction of the asura clan!”

Naraantakan got worried and sent a raakshasi with the orders to kill the baby born in sage Kashyap’s ashram. She changed into a beautiful Brahmin lady and went to the ashram of Kashyap. The sage had gone out to the river and Aditi Devi was in the pooja.

The raakshasi walked straight into the hut, took the baby Mahorkadar and swallowed him whole. As soon as Mahorkadar reached her stomach, he opened his third eye and started scorching her inside.

The raakshasi could not bear the intense heat and drank the water from all the wells, ponds and rivers but the heat did not subside. She leaped in the sky to drink the Aakaasa Ganga.

The baby in the stomach pushed her down with his big toe. The Raakshasi lost her balance and fell down headlong from that height. She died due to the fall.

Mahorkadar tore open her stomach with his big toe and walked outside her stomach – as if nothing had happened.
People came running on hearing the crashing sound.

They were frightened to see a huge raakshasi on the ground and at the same time they were relieved to see baby Mahorkadar safely playing on the raakshasi.

The removed the evil eyes and prayed for the welfare of the child. Mahorkadar was immensely pleased by these.
 
11e. கந்தர்வன்

அரக்கி இறந்த செய்தியைக் கேட்டு
ஆச்சரியம் அடைந்தான் நராந்தகன்.

துந்துபியும், உதத்தனும் இருகிளிகளாக மாறி
வந்தனர் காசியப முனிவரின் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு.

கொத்தித் தின்றனர் இறைந்த தான்யங்களை.
தத்தும் கிளிகள் வேண்டும் என்றான் குழந்தை.

“சிறகுள்ள பறவைகளைப் பிடிப்பது கடினம்;
பறந்து சென்றுவிடும் நாம் நெருங்கியதும்”

மாடியிலிருந்து இறங்கினார் மகோற்கடர்;
நொடியில் நெருங்கி விட்டார் கிளிகளை;

தகித்தது அவர் விடுத்த சுவாசக் காற்று
தவித்தனர் கிளியுருவில் வந்த அசுரர்கள்

பறந்து தப்பிச் செல்ல முயன்றனர் ஆனால்
பருந்தாக மாறிக் கொன்றுவிட்டார் கிளிகளை.

புண்ணிய நீராடச் சென்றனர் சோமவதி.
கண்ணனைக் அமர்த்தினாள் கரையில்.

நீராடும் அதிதியைக் கண்டதும் மகன்
நீரில் இறங்கிவிட்டான் கரையிலிருந்து.

முதலை கவ்விச் சென்றது குழந்தையை.
முதலை தாக்கியது வாலால் மற்றவரை.

முதலையின் வாயிலிருந்து வெளிப்பட்டு
முதலை முதுகில் அமர்ந்தான் குழந்தை.

கீழே தள்ளி விட முயன்ற முதலையைக்
கீழ்ப்படியச் செய்து சுற்றினார் தடாகத்தை.

களைத்த முதலை வாயில் நுரை தள்ளியது
வெளியில் வந்து மல்லாந்தபடி மாண்டது.

கந்தர்வன் வெளிப்பட்டான் அதிலிருந்து
வந்து வணங்கினான் மகோற்கடரை.

#41e. Gandharvan

Naraantakan was surprised to hear that the baby had killed the raakshasi. He sent two more asuras named Dundubi and Udathan. They became lovely parrots and flew to the ashram of Kashyap. They ate the grains found on the ground.


Mahorkadar was seated on Aditi’s lap. He wanted her to catch the birds for him. Aditi told him, “The parrots will fly away when we approach them. It is very difficult to catch them”


But Mahorkadar got down from her lap and went near the parrots. His breath was so hot that the two parrots could not bear it. They tried to fly away to safety but Mahorkadar changed into a kite and tore the parrots to pieces.


It was an auspicious day and people went to bath in Somavati. Aditi made Mahorkadar sit on the bank of Somavati and entered the water.


When he saw Aditi in the water, Mahorkadar also entered the water. A giant crocodile caught hold of him. The other people there tired to save the child but the crocodile lashed its tail and attacked them violently.


Meanwhile Mahorkadar managed to come out of the mouth of the crocodile and sit on it back. The crocodile tried its best to shake him off but in vain.


Mahorkadar made the crocodile obey him made it cover the pond several times very fast. The crocodile became so tired that it got on to the land and dropped dead.


A Gandarvan emerged from the crocodile and paid obeisance to Mahorkadar.

5#15a. மூன்றாவது யுத்தம் (1)

மடிந்து போயினர் சிக்ஷூவும், தாம்பரனும் – மனம்
ஒடிந்து போனான் மஹிஷன் இதை அறிந்தவுடன்!

சிதறி ஓடிவிட்டது அசுரர் படை என்று அறிந்ததும்
பதறிப் போனான் மஹிஷன் இந்தச் செய்தியினால்.

வைரக் கவசம் அணிந்த இரு அசுர வீரர்கள்
வைரியை வெல்லச் சென்றனர் போர்க்களம்.

வந்து சேர்ந்தனர் அசிலோமன், பிடாலன்
சிவந்த யுத்த பூமிக்கு அசுரர் படையுடன்.

விளங்கினாள் தேவி சிம்ஹ வாஹனத்தில்;
வியந்தனர் தேவியின் பேரெழிலைக் கண்டு.

வினயமாகப் பேசினான் அசிலோமன்,
வியப்பூட்டிய வீர மங்கை தேவியிடம்.

“இழைக்கவில்லை உனக்குத் துரோகம் நாங்கள்;
பிழை என்ன செய்தோம் கூறுவாய் பெண்ணே!

எங்கிருந்து வந்தாய் நீ? எதற்கு வந்துள்ளாய்?
என் அசுரர்களைக் கொன்று குவிக்கின்றாய்?”

தேவி சிரித்தாள் இவ்வினாக்களைக் கேட்டு
தேவி பதில் கூறினாள் அசிலோமனுக்கு.

“வந்தது ஏன் என்று கேட்டாய் என்னிடம்!
வந்தவள் அல்ல நான் எங்கிருந்தோ இங்கு!

செல்பவள் அல்ல நான் இங்கிருந்து எங்கும்!
செல்லவேண்டிய தேவை இல்லை எனக்கு!

எங்கும் எப்போதும் இருப்பவள் நான் – கேள்
எத்தன்மையவள் என்று உரைக்கின்றேன் !’

நீதி, அநீதிகளை ஆராயும் நடுநிலை சாக்ஷி;
நீ கூறும் மன மாசுகள் கொண்டவள் அல்ல!

வேண்டுதல், வேண்டாமை இல்லாதவள்!
வெளிப்படுவேன் அறப் பொருளாக எங்கும்.

காக்க விரும்புவேன் சாது ஜனங்களை!
தாக்கி அழிப்பேன் துன்பம் தருபவர்களை.

சிஷ்ட பரிபாலனம், துஷ்டநிக்ரஹம் செய்யும்
சிறந்தவர் அனைவரும் என் அவதாரங்களே!”

5#15a. The third day’s war (1)

Mahishan became heartbroken to learn that Kikshoo and Taamran got killed by Devi. He did not like his army running away in utter confusion. He sent two more asura warrior Asiloman and Bidaalan donned in armors of diamonds.

They went to the battle field which had become red by now. They were wonder stuck by the rare beauty of Devi. Asiloman talked to her with humility.

‘”Oh pretty young lady! We have not harmed you in any manner. Then why are you punishing us and killing our warriors? Who are you? Where have you come from? What is your intention?”

Devi laughed and replied to Asiloman. “You ask me who I am and why I am here. I have not come here from any other place nor will I have to go back to any other place. I do not have to go from place to place. I am already here, there and everywhere.

I am the neutral witness to all the actions performed by every jeevaa. I am neither lenient nor hateful to anyone. I protect the good people from the bad people. I will punish the wrong doers and those who inflict sufferings on the others.

Whosoever protects the good people and punishes the evil doers is one of my avatars”
 
5#15b. மூன்றாவது யுத்தம் (2)

“துராத்மா ஆகிவிட்டான் மஹிஷாசுரன்;
துன்புறுத்துகிறான் தேவர்களை வதைத்து.

சம்ஹார வடிவம் எடுத்து வந்துள்ளேன்!
சம்சாரம் அவனுடன் நடத்துவதற்கல்ல!

புறப்பட்டு வரச் சொல் அவனை இங்கு;
பிறரை அனுப்புவதால் என்ன பயன்?

செய்யட்டும் கடுமையான போர் – அன்றேல்
செய்து கொள்ளட்டும் சமாதான உடன்பாடு.

வேண்டும் சமாதனம் என்றால் – செய்ய
வேண்டும் அவன் ஒரு நற்செலையை!

தர வேண்டும் சுவர்க்கத்தை இந்திரனுக்கு
தர வேண்டும் சுவர்க்கத்தை தேவர்களுக்கு

செல்ல வேண்டும் அவன் பாதாள உலகுக்கு;
சொல்ல வேண்டும் நீர் இதை மஹிஷனுக்கு.

யோசித்தனர் அசிலோமனும், பிடாலனும்.
பேசிக் கொண்டனர் செய்ய வேண்டயதை.

“அறிவான் மஹிஷன் தன் மரணம் பற்றி
அறிந்தும் அனுப்பினான் நம்மை இங்கு.

செத்து மடிகின்றது சேனை என்றாலும்
யுத்த களத்துக்கு அனுப்புகிறான் மேலும் .

ஊழியர்கள் நாம் மன்னன் மஹிஷனுக்கு;
ஊழியர்கள் பணிய வேண்டும் ஆணைக்கு.

சுதந்திர எண்ணங்கள் வரலாகாது நமக்கு;
சூத்திரப் பாவைகள் நாம் மறக்கக் கூடாது.

‘பாதாள லோகம் சென்றுவிடு’ என்று நாம்
பாதிப்பு இன்றிக் கூற முடியுமா அவனிடம்?

‘திருப்பிக் கொடு தேவர்கள் சொத்தை’ என்றால்
திருப்பி அடிப்பான் நம்மை சினத்துடன் முன்பு.

கடமையைச் செய்வோம் நாம் இருவரும்,
மடமை அது என்று அறிந்திருந்த போதும்!”

சென்றனர் இருவரும் தேவியுடன் போருக்கு;
சென்றது அசுரவீரர் படையும் பின் தொடர்ந்து.

5#15b. The third day’s war (2)

Devi continued talking to Asiloman and Bidaalan, “Mahishan has been corrupted by his absolute power. He is harassing the Devaas. I have come here to put an end to him and his atrocities. I have not come to marry him and make him happy.

Tell him to come out of the safety of his palace and meet me. If he wishes to fight there will be a war. If he wants peace, there will be peace. But he will have to return swarggam to Indra and the other Devaas. He along with his citizen must return to Paataala. Convey this message to your mighty king Mahishan”

Asiloman and Bidaalan talked between themselves as to what was to be done by them now. “Mahishan knows well about his boon and the clause about his death in a woman’s hands. Yet he keeps sending the other asuraas to the war front. He sees them getting killed. Yet he keeps sending more and more asuras.

We are his servants and our job is to obey his commands. We should not have independent opinions. We have no freedom to think on our own. Can we go back and tell him to return to Paataala without incurring his wrath?

Can we tell him to return swarggam and all its treasures to Indra without getting beaten up first. We know that what we are going to do is foolish and yet we have to do it as our duty – out of loyalty to our king.”

 They went on to fight with Devi. The army of asuraas followed them loyally.
 
5#15c. மூன்றாவது யுத்தம் (3)

முன்னம் போர் புரிந்தான் பிடாலன் – அதை
நின்று பார்த்திருந்தான் அசிலோம அசுரன்.

மூன்று பாணங்கள் தாக்கி விழுந்து போரில்
இன்னுயிரை விடுத்தான் அரக்கன் பிடாலன்.

முன்னுக்கு வந்தான் அசிலோமன் இப்போது,
“மன்னனுக்காக விடுவேன் என் இன்னுயிரை!”

எய்தான் பாணங்களை அவன் தேவி மீது!
எய்தாள் பாணங்களை தேவி அவன் மீது!

இரத்தமயமனது அவன் வைரக் கவசம்;
இருந்தான் கல்யாண முருங்கை போல்!

தாக்கினான் சிம்மத்தைக் கதையினால்;
தாக்கியது சிம்மம் அவனை நகங்களால்.

தாவினான் சிங்கத்தின் மீது அசிலோமன்;
தாக்கினான் தேவியைத் தன் கதையால்.

கொய்தாள் தேவி அசிலோமன் சிரசை.
தொய்ந்தான் அசுரன் மண்ணில் சாய்ந்து.

இறந்த அசுரர்களைத் தின்றது சிம்மம்.
இருந்த அசுரரையும் தின்றது சிம்மம்.

தப்பிய வீரர்கள் விரைந்தனர் சபைக்கு;
செப்பினர் போரில் நிகழ்த்தவைகளை.

பிரமித்தான் மகிஷன் இவற்றைக் கேட்டு!
பிரமை பிடித்து நின்றான் செய்வதறியாது.

5#15c. The third day’s war

At first Bidaalan fought with Devi and Asiloman stood watching them. Bidaalan fell dead to the three arrows shot by Devi. Now it was Asiloman’s turn to fight Devi. He and Devi exchanged speeding arrows in a fierce fight.

Devi’s arrows pierced his diamond armor and he started there bleeding profusely – resembling a Kalyaana- murungai tree. Asiloman hit Devi’s lion with his mace. The lion attacked him with its sharp nails.

Asiloman jumped on to the lion and hit Devi with his mace. Devi promptly decapitated him. Asiloman fell dead on the ground. The lion ate the dead asuras. The lion also ate the asuraas who were still alive.

Those who managed to escape, ran back to the durbar of Mahishan and told him of the happenings. Mahishan went into a shock not knowing what to do now!
 
5#16a. மஹிஷன் வாக்குவாதம்

கொல்லப்பட்டனர் சிறந்த தளபதிகள் இருவர் எனச்
சொல்லொண்ணாத சினம் கொண்டான் மஹிஷன்.

அழைத்தான் தன் தேரோட்டி அரக்கன் தாருகனை,
“அலங்கரிப்பாய் என் நூதன ரதத்தை உடனே!’ என

பூட்டப் பட்டன ஆயிரம் கோவேறு கழுதைகள்;
சூட்டப் பட்டன பலவிதமான அலங்காரங்கள்.

நிறைத்தான் தன் ரதத்தை ஆயுதங்களால்;
நினைத்தான் மஹிஷன் தன் உருவை எண்ணி.

“அருவருப்பாள் மஹிஷனாகக் கண்டவுடன்,
விரும்புவாள் ஒரு மன்மதனாகக் கண்டால்!”

மோகன வாலிபன் உருவெடுத்தான் மஹிஷன்;
மோகம் ஊட்டும்படி அலங்கரித்துக் கொண்டான்.

சங்கெடுத்து ஊதினாள் அவனைக் கண்ட தேவி.
தங்கு தடையின்றிப் பேசினான் புன்னகையுடன்.

“தாய் தந்தையருக்கு உத்தம சுகம் தருவது
தாம் பெற்ற பிள்ளைகளை வாரியணைப்பது!

அணைப்பது சஹோதரனை மத்யம சுகம்.
அணைப்பது தொழில் நண்பனை அதம சுகம்.

காம வசப்பட்டவர் கூடுவது பெரும் இன்பம்;
சம வயதுள்ள ஆண் பெண் பெறுவர் இன்பம்.

குலம், குணம், வயது, அழகு பொருந்தியவர்
கூடுவது அனைத்திலும் பெரிய இன்பம் தரும்.

விரும்பும் உருவம் எடுக்க வல்லவன் நான்!
திருப்தி செய்விக்கின்ற திறமை படைத்தவன்.

குவிந்துள்ளது செல்வம் என் மாளிகையில்;
குவிப்பேன் அவற்றை உன் இரு காலடியில்.

அடி பணிவேன் நீ இடும் ஆணைகளுக்கு!
அடிமை ஆகிவிட்டேன் உன் பேரெழிலுக்கு!

கெஞ்சியதில்லை ஒருவரையும் இதுபோல!
கொஞ்சியதில்லை ஒருவரையும் இதுபோல!

பலவீனன் என்று எண்ணிவிடாதே என்னை;
பலத்தை நன்கறியும் மூன்று உலகங்களும்!”

5#16a. Mahishan’s argument

Mahishan was terribly upset to hear about the end of Asiloman and Bidaalan in the hands of Devi. He decided to go and fight with her himself. He ordered his charioteer Taarukan to get his chariot ready.

His chariot was pulled by one thousand ponies and it was decorated with many attractive articles. Mahishan filled it up with all his deadly weapons. He thought about his buffalo face.

“If I go as Mahishan, she will get disgusted and never love me. But If I go as beautiful as Manmathan, may be she will fall in love with me!” He transformed himself to a handsome man and decorated himself attractively.

The moment Devi saw him approaching, she took out her conch and blew it. Mahishan went near her and spoke fluently thus,

“The greatest joy or Utthama sukham for any parents lies in embracing their own children. Embracing one’s brother gives madhyama sukam. Embracing a friend gives adhama sukham.

The union of a man and a woman who are in love gives them great happiness. If they are well matched in age, beauty, race, qualities and attitudes it will give them a greater pleasure.

I can take any form I wish to. I can give you complete satisfaction. All the wealth of the world lie heaped in my palace. I shall lay them at your feet to do what you like with them.

I will obey your command and wishes. I shall be a slave to your beauty and love. I have never desired anyone more than I do you.

I have never begged anyone more than I do now. Do not think that I am a weakling. All the three worlds know about my power and valor”

21e. அறிவுரை

சூளுரைத்தனர் சூரபத்மனிடம்;
“சிறுவனைப் போரில் பிடித்தபின்

காலபாசத்தில் கட்டி வருவதாக!”
காலசித்து, சண்டன், அனலி, சிங்கன்!

பானுகோபன் கோபித்தான் தந்தையை,
பகர்ந்தான் கடின மொழிகளையும்.

“தாரகனும், கிரௌஞ்சனும் அழிந்ததும்
போருக்கு அனுப்பவில்லை என்னை.

தூதுவன் வந்து போர் செய்து – கால
தூதுவனாக மாறிவிட்ட போதும் நீங்கள்

பகைவரைப் பந்தாடும் என்னை விடுத்து
பச்சிளம் பாலகனை அனுப்பினீர் அங்கு!

இனிமேலாவது என்னை அனுப்புங்கள்!
தனி ஒருவனாகப் பிடித்து வருவேன்.”

இரணியன் இயம்பினான் சூரபத்மனிடம்,
“இப்போதே என்னையும் அனுப்புங்கள்!”

அக்னிமுகன் சூரபத்மன் முன் நின்று
ஆங்காரத்துடன் உரைத்தான் இம்மொழி.

“இளவலைக் கொன்றவனைக் கொல்லாமல்
கொள்ளேன் நான் மனநிறைவு தந்தையே!

அரிமாமுகன் எழுந்து கூறினான் தன்
அறிவுரையும், அறவுரையும் கலந்து.

3 # 21.e. The other advices.


Kaalachithu, Chandan, Anali and Singan swore that they would bind the enemies in Yama paasam and bring them to Soorapadman.

Bhanukoban got annoyed with his father and spoke thus, “When Taarakan and Krounjan were destroyed, you must have sent me to the fight Murugan’s army. Even when a messenger turned out to be mass killer you did not send me to fight him.

Instead you sent a young boy to fight him. Send me now. I shall capture all of them single-handedly!”

Hiranyan offered to go to the war front. Agni mukhan said, ” I can’t relax, until I avenge the death of my anujan.”

Just then Singa mukhan got and spoke the words of wisdom along with his own advice.
 
21f. அரிமுகன் அறிவுரை.

“தேவர்களுக்குத் தீங்குகள் செய்தாய்!
ஏவினாய் அவர்களை மீன் பிடித்துவர!

இந்திரன் அரசாட்சியை அழித்தாய்.
இந்திரனையும் துரத்தி விரட்டினாய்,

சிறையில் தள்ளினாய் தேவர்களை!
சித்திரவதை செய்தாய் அவர்களை!

அறிவு மழுங்கி நெடுங்காலம் ஆனது
இரக்கம் உறைந்து பலகாலம் ஆனது.

மேன்மைகள் அளித்தார் சிவபெருமான்
மேலான நூற்றெட்டு ஊழிகளுக்கே!

அந்தக் காலக்கெடு முடிந்துபோனதை
அந்தகன் போலவே அறியவில்லை நீ!

எமது சக்தியே உம்மை வெல்லும் என
நமது பிரான் உரைத்தார் நம்மிடம்;

ஆறுமுகன் விடுத்த சிறிய வேற்படை
தாரகனை அழித்தது இதனால் அன்றோ?

பெரியவர், சிறியவர், பெண்களை;
அரியவர், தவத்தினரைப் பேணுவோம்.

தேவர்களைச் சிறை நீக்கிவிட்டால்
போர் புரிய மாட்டார் முருகபிரான்.

குற்றத்தை மன்னித்து மறந்து மீண்டும்
சுற்றத்துடன் சென்றுவிடுவார் கயிலை.

தேவர்களை நாம் சிறை நீக்காவிடின்
வேருடன் அழித்துவிடுவார் நம்மை.”

3 # 21.f. The advice of Singamukhan.

Singamukhan got up and started to speak to Soorapadman.
" You have caused troubles to the Devas. You made them bring fish everyday. You haunted Indra and chased him out of swarga.

You imprisoned the Devas. You tortured them. You have got corrupted long ago. You have lost your compassion and kindness completely.

Siva gave us boons that would last for 108 Yugas. That period is already over and you are not aware of that fact. Siva said that only His power can vanquish us.

That is why a small spear thrown by the young Murugan could kill Taarakan and split Krounjagiri into two.

We are supposed to protect the elders, the very young, ladies and tapasvis. We can still solve this problem by releasing the Devas from the prison.

Murugan will forgive us and forget our sins. He will go back to Kailash with his army of demons. If we refuse to release the Devas, Murugan is sure to destroy all of us.”
 
# 5326 onward have been posted today.
Some extra posts have been made so that
the baala leelaa in vinayaka puraanam 2,
the mahishaasura mardhanam in devi bhaagavatam skanda 5
and the mahendra kaandam of kanda puraaanam
can be completed during the next few days.

11f. சித்திரன்

“பூர்வ ஜன்மத்தில் நான் கந்தர்வன் சித்திரன்.
ஆர்வத்துடன் செய்தேன் மகள் திருமணத்தை!

உபசரிக்க மறந்துவிட்டேன் பிருகு முனிவரை.
உடனே முதலையாகும்படிச் சபித்துவிட்டார்!

சாப விமோசனம் தரும்படி மன்றாடினேன்,
“சாபம் நீங்கும் கணேசனின் ஸ்பரிசத்தால்.

அவதரிப்பார் அதிதி காசியபர்களிடம்;
அழிப்பார் கொடிய அசுரர் கூட்டத்தை!”

காத்திருந்தேன் தங்களைச் சந்திப்பதற்கு
காத்திருந்தேன் தங்கள் ஸ்பரிசத்துக்கு.”

மண்ணில் வந்து இறங்கியது விமானம்
விண்ணில் சென்றான் விமானம் ஏறி!

விஜயம் செய்தனர் மூன்று கந்தர்வர்,
விருந்து அருந்திச் செல்ல இருந்தனர்.

பூஜையில் அமர்ந்தனர் நீராடியபின்
பூஜைக்குப்பின் ஆழ்ந்த தியானத்தில்

மறைத்தார் மகோற்கடர் விக்ரகங்களை
பதைபதைத்தனர் கந்தர்வர்கள் உள்ளம்!

முறையிட்டனர் காசியபரிடம் சென்று.
சிறுவர்கள் எவருமே எடுக்கவில்லை!

மகோற்கடரைத் தேடிக் கண்டு பிடித்து
“மறைந்த விக்ரகங்கள் எங்கே?” என

“ஒளித்து வைத்துள்ளேன் என்று கூறி
ஒளித்து வைத்த வாயைத் திறந்தார்

தெரிந்தது வாயில் சிருஷ்டி முழுவதும்
தெரிந்தனர் வாயில் மும்மூர்த்திகள்.

தெரித்தன வாயில் வைகுண்ட கைலாசம்
தெரிந்தன வாயில் பூலோகம், பாதாளம்.

வலம் வந்து வணங்கினர் மகோற்கடரை
வரம் தந்து விக்ரகங்களையும் தந்தார்.

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM - 2

41f. Chitran

“In my previous birth, I was a gandarvan named Chitran. I performed my daughter’s wedding with great pomp and show. I forgot to felicitate Sage Brugu properly. He got very angry and cursed me to become a crocodile.

I begged for saapa nivaaraNam. Brugu told me,”You will get back your original form when Lord Ganesha touches you. He will be born as the son of Aditi and Kashyapa to put an end to the asuras”

I was waiting for your arrival. I was waiting for your divine touch. Thank you for giving me my original form and breaking the curse.”

He paid obeisance to Mahorkadar and got into a gold vimaanam which took him to his land.

Once three gandharvas visited Kashyapa. They would eat food with the sage and then leave for their abode. They took bath and did their usual pooja. Then they were immersed in meditation.

When they had finished their dhyaanam, they were shocked to find all their vigrahaas missing. They ran to Sage Kashyapa and complained to him.

Kashyapa asked all the children in the Ashram and none of them had hidden the vigraham. He then caught hold of Mahorkadar and asked him whether he had hid the vigrahaas.

He nodded his head and opend his mouth to show the vigrahaas hidden there but Kashyapa and the Gandarva saw entire creation in his mouth.

They saw the trimoorthis. They saw the Kailash and Vaikuntam. They saw the earth and the paataalam. They knew it was the god supreme appearing to them as a small child.

They paid obeisance to Mahorkadar. He blessed them with several boons and returned them their vigrahaas.
 
11g. உபநயனம்

அகவை ஐந்து ஆனது மகோற்கடருக்கு.
உவகையுடன் செய்வித்தார் உபநயனம்.

குதூகலமாக இருந்தனர் அதிதிகள்;
கோலாகலமாக நடந்தது உபநயனம்.

வந்தனர் அசுரர்கள் அந்தணர்களாக;
வந்திருந்த முனிவருடன் கலந்தனர்.

அக்ஷதை இட்டு ஆசீர்வதித்தனர் – அதில்
அஸ்திரப் பிரயோகம் செய்த அசுரர்கள்.

ஆயுதங்களாக மாறின அக்ஷதைகள்;
பாய்ந்து வந்தன மகோற்கடரை நோக்கி!

அருகில் வந்ததும் மாறின மலர்களாக
திருவடிகளில் வந்து விழுந்து வணங்கின.

ஐந்து அரிசிகளை எறிந்தார் மகோற்கடர்
ஐந்து ஆயுதங்களாக மாறின அரிசிகள்.

ஐந்து அசுரர்களைத் தாக்கின அவைகள்
ஐவரும் மாண்டனர் மார்பு பிளந்ததால்.

திருஷ்டி கழித்தனர் மகோற்கடருக்கு
தோஷம் நீக்கினர் மகோற்கடருக்கு.

வந்திருந்த தேவர்கள் தந்தனர் பலவித
விந்தையான அஸ்திர, சஸ்திரங்கள்

சூலம், பினாகம், உடுக்கை, மழு,
சடை, பிறைமதி கொடுத்தார் சிவன்.

பாலச்சந்திரன், விரூபாக்ஷன் மற்றும்
பரசுபாணி என்ற பெயர்கள் இட்டார் .

தந்தார் விஷ்ணு தன் சக்கராயுதத்தை,
தந்தார் பிரமன் தாமரை, கமண்டலம்.

தந்தாள் உமையாள் சிங்க வாஹனம்;
தந்தான் வருணன் பாசத்தைப் பாசமாக.

தந்தான் முத்து மாலையைக் கடல் அரசன்
தந்தான் மாலாதரன் என்ற பெயரினையும்.

படுக்கையானான் ஆதிசேஷன் இவருக்கு
பணி ராஜ வாசன் என்ற பெயர் வந்தது

தந்தான் தண்டம் தர்மராஜன் – அக்கினி
தந்தான் அனைத்தையும் எரிக்கும் சக்தியை

தந்தான் வாயு தன் பராக்கிரமத்தை – அங்கு
தந்தனர் அனைவரும் தத்தம் சிறப்புகளை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#11g. Upanayanam

Now Mahorkadar was five years old. Sage Kashyapa performed his Upanayanam in a very grand manner. The crowd of guests were joyous and the ceremony colorful.


Five asuras came there changed into five Brahmins. They mingled well with the other Brahmins. When they blessed the child by throwing the turmeric rice, the five asuras did asthra prayogam on the rice.


The rice changed into deadly weapons and rushed towards the child. But on approaching him they changed into flowers and fell at his feet.


Now Mahorkadar took five rice and threw it at the asura. The rice changed into deadly weapons and tore their chests making them drop dead. The evil eye cast on the child was removed and the dosham rectified immediately.


All the Deva present there gave the child rare gifts. Lord Siva gave his soolam, pinaakam, damroo, mazhu, jada and the crescent moon. The child got the new names as Baalachandran, Viroopaakshan and Parasu paaNi.


Vishnu gave him his Sudarshan and Brahma his louts and kamandalam. Parvati Devi gave him her simha vaahanam. Varuna gave him his paasam, the king of the ocean a pearl string and the new name as Maalaa dharan.


Aadhi seshan became his bed and gave him the name paNiraaja vaasan. Dharama raajan gave the child his dandam, Agni his power to burn and Vaayu his strength. The Deva gave the child the best in them as gifts.

5#16b. தேவியின் மறுமொழி

புன்னகை செய்தாள் தேவி இதைக் கேட்டு;
“நன்கு அறிவேன் உன்னை நான் மஹிஷனே!

அறிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை நீ என்னை நன்கு;
பிறரை விரும்பேன் நாதன் சிவனைத் தவிர.

இன்று உள்ளவன் நீ! என்றும் உள்ளவள் நான்!
உன்னால் காண முடியுமா என்னை உள்ளபடி?

பார்க்க முடியும் என்னை சர்வேஸ்வரனால்,
பார்ப்பார் என்னைத் தன் ஆக்ஞா சக்தியாக.

காந்தத்தால் இயக்கம் அடையும் இரும்பு – நான்
காந்தனால் இயக்கம் அடைவேன் என்றறிவாய்!

சம்சாரச் சகதி அல்லவே நான் – சம்சார
சாகரத்தைத் தாண்டுவிக்கும் ஓடம் நான்.

பெண் இன்பம் பேரின்பம் என்னும் மூடனே!
பெண் தளைப்படுத்தும் ஒரு சம்சாரச் சங்கிலி.

அறுத்துவிட முடியும் இரும்புச் சங்கிலியை!
அறுக்க முடியாது சம்சாரத்தின் தளைகளை!

துர்நாற்றம் வீசுகின்ற, சிறுநீர் பாய்ச்சுகின்ற
துவாரத்தில் என்ன சுகம் இருக்க முடியும்?

புலன்களை அடக்குவதே உண்மையான சுகம்;
புலன்களுக்கு அடங்குவது உண்மையில் துக்கம்.

கலவி சுகம் கிடைக்குமெனக் கனவு காணாதே!
மூல காரணம் அழிவுக்கு, அமரர் மீது பகைமை

இனி நிச்சயமானது உன் அழிவு – பிழைக்க
இனத்தாரோடு சென்று விடு பாதாள லோகம்.

உன்னிடம் உயிர் வாழும் ஆசை இருந்தால்
என்னிடம் தோன்றாது கொல்லும் எண்ணம்.

சென்றுவிடு உடனே உயிர் வாழ நினைத்தால்;
கொன்றுவிடுவேன் உன்னுடன் போர் புரிந்தால்!”

5#16c. மஹிஷனின் பதில்

“தரும்ஆனந்தம் உன்னுடன் யுத்தம் புரிவது;
வெறும் பேச்சல்ல, வென்றுள்ளேன் அமரரை!

சிறு பெண் உன்னோடு எதற்காகச் சண்டை?
அறிவுரைகள் கூறுவதற்கு எனக்கும் தெரியும்!

எங்கிருந்து வந்தாயோ அங்கேயே சென்று விடு;
என்னிடம் இருந்து தப்புவதற்கு அது ஒரே வழி.

என்ன கீர்த்தி வரும் உன்னைக் கொல்வதால்?
என்னை வந்து பற்றும் ஸ்த்ரீ ஹத்தி தோஷம்!

பாவம் தரும் சிசு, ஸ்திரீ, பிரம்ம ஹத்திகள்
பாவங்களைத் தொலைப்பது எளிதாக இராது.

எடுத்துச் செல்ல முடியும் உன்னை மஞ்சத்துக்கு
கெடுத்துச் சுவைக்க முடியாது சுக போகங்கள்

மனம் ஒத்த இருவர் கலந்தால் விளையும்
மன்மதன் ரதி தேவி போன்ற காம சம்போகம்.

அழகு இருக்கிறது, ஆனால் அறிவில்லை!
அழகில் உனக்கு பொருத்தமானவன் நான்!

கை விடு உன் முரட்டுப் பிடிவாதத்தை;
கை கொடு அன்போடு நேசக்கரம் நீட்டு!

அலைமகள் சுகிக்கின்றாள் மாலோடு;
கலைமகள் சுகிக்கின்றாள் பிரமனோடு;

மலை மகள் சுகிக்கின்றாள் சிவனோடு;
இளம் கன்னி நீ சுகிப்பதில் என்ன தவறு?

துணையாக வந்த வாலிப அழகனை விட்டு,
துயருற்றாள் மந்தோதரி துஷ்டனை மணந்து!

உன் தலைவிதியும் அது போல இருந்தால்
என் பேச்சு இத்தனையும் உன்மேல் வீணாச்சு!”

5#16c. Mahishan’s reply


Mahishan replied to Devi, “I will enjoy fighting with you. I have conquered the Devaas and I am nor simply boasting! I too can give advice to you. Go back now to where you have come from. That is the only way to escape from me!


What do I stand to gain by killing you – except that I will be haunted by Brahmahaththi dosham for the rest of my life. Killing infants, women and brahmins are great sins and cannot be washed away easily.


I can carry you to my bed directly and ravish you. But violence and force will not yield pure pleasure. Only when two people indulge with mutual consent and love, pure bliss can be experienced.


You are beautiful but you have no brain. I am the one best suited for your rare beauty. Give up being adamant and extend to me your friendship and love!


Lakshmi enjoys pleasures with Vishnu, Saraswati with Brahma and Uma with Shiva. What is wrong if you indulge with me for your pleasure?


Mandothari was foolish, since she chose a wicked fellow as her husband, instead of the good fellow who loved her dearly. If you are destined to suffer a similar fate, all my letcures will be a total waste!”
 
5#17a. மந்தோதரி (1)

“யார் மந்தோதரி? யார் கைவிட்ட நாயகன்?
யார் மணந்த நாயகன்? ஏன் துயருற்றாள்?”

தேவி கேட்டாள் மஹிஷனிடம் கேள்விகள்;
தேவிக்குக் கூறினான் மஹிஷன் இவற்றை.

“உண்டு சிம்மள தேசம் என்ற ஒரு நாடு;
உண்டு அதில் வளமையும், பசுமையும்!

ஆண்டு வந்தான் மன்னன் சந்திரசேனன்;
ஆண்டு வந்தான் நீதிநெறிகள் தவறாமல்.

சகல கலா நிபுணன் அவன் சத்திய சீலன்
சாந்தன்; சாந்தவதி மனைவி குணவதி.

கொண்டிருந்தாள் நல்ல அங்க லக்ஷணங்கள்;
கொண்டிருந்தாள் இல்லறத்தின் நற்பண்புகள்.

தொழுது வந்தாள் கணவனைத் தெய்வமாக;
வாழ்ந்து வந்தாள் ஒழுக்கத்தில் சிறந்தவளாக.

மந்தோதரி என்ற பெயர் கொண்ட மூத்த
மகளைச் சீராட்டிப் பாராட்டி வளர்த்தனர்.

நாளொரு மேனி; பொழுதொரு வண்ணம்
நன்றாக வளர்ந்து விட்டாள் மந்தோதரி.

திருமணம் புரிய வரன் தேடினான் மன்னன்
குருவான புரோகிதர் சொன்னார் அவனிடம்,

“மந்தர தேசத்தின் மன்னன் சுதன்மன்;
சுந்தரமான கம்புக்ரீவன் அவன் மகன்.

ஏற்றவன் அவன் அறிவிலும், அழகிலும் நீ
பெற்ற மகள் இளவரசி மந்தோதரிக்கு!” என,

சொன்னான் சந்திரசேனன் குணவதியிடம்
சொன்னாள் குணவதி மந்தோதரியிடம்.

5#17a. Mandothari (1)

Devi asked Mahishan, “Who was Mandothari? Who was the man she rejected? Who was the man she married? Why and how did she suffer?”

Mahishan replied to Devi,” There was a kingdom called SimmaLam and it was ruled by king Chandrasenan. He was good king and ruled his kingdom justly.

He had a good-natured wife called Gunavathi. Mandothari was their eldest daughter whom they brought up lovingly.

When Mandothari reached marriageable age the King was looking for a suitable prince for her. Kulaguru advised Chandrasenan that Kambugreevan the son of Sudanman, the king of Mandiradesam was the most suitable prince to marry Mandothari.

The king became very happy and told the news to his wife Gunavathi and she conveyed it to Mandothari.
