KANDA PURAANAM- MAHENDRA KAANDAM

21a. ஆலோசனை.

அழிந்த நகரை பிரமன் ஒழுங்கு செய்தபின்,
அரியணையில் அமர்ந்திருந்தான் சூரபத்மன் .

ஒற்றர்கள் விரைந்து வந்தனர் அரசவைக்கு.
மற்ற செய்திகளையும் புகன்றனர் அரசனிடம்.

“செவ்வேட்கடவுள், சிவனாரின் மகனார்,
செந்தில் மாநகர் வந்து சேர்ந்து விட்டார்.

பூதப் படைகள் ஈராயிரம் வெள்ளம் ஆம்.
ஏவப் படைத் தலைவர்கள் நூற்று எண்மர்.

தாரகன் மாய்ந்த செய்தி உண்மையாகும்.
கிரௌஞ்சன் பிளந்ததும் உண்மை ஆகும்.

யாளிமுகனையும் கொன்றுவிட்டான் தூதன்.
நாளை வந்து சேரும் முருகனின் படைகள்.”

அமைச்சர்களும், படைத் தலைவர்களும்,
அருமைத் தம்பி சிங்கமுக அவுணனும்

விரைந்து வந்து குழுமினர் அரசவையில்.
சூரபத்மன் சொன்னான் அவையினரிடம்,

“தேவர்களை நம் சிறையில் வைத்ததைத்
தேவர்கோன் சொன்னான் சிவபிரானிடம்.

தேவாதி தேவன் தோற்றுவித்தான் முருகனை.
தேவர்கள் துயர் தீர்க்க அனுப்பினான் அவனை.

தாரகனைக் கொன்ற பின் சிறுவன் முருகன்
தூதுவன் ஒருவனை அனுப்பினான் என்னிடம்!”

3 # 21 a. Council of ministers.

After the capital was restored to its original glory, Soorapadman sat on his throne. The messengers came to him and told him all the happenings.

“Murugan, lord Siva’s son has reached Senthoor with his army of 2000 veLLam of demons. He has 108 generals to command the huge army.

He has killed Taarakan and split into two the Krounja mountain. He got Yaalimukhan killed by his messenger. The army is expected to march here tomorrow.”

Soorapadman called forth the council of ministers to assemble immediately. He addressed the gathering,

” We had imprisoned the devas. Indra had reported this to Lord Siva. Siva has created a son to put an end to the sufferings of the Devas.

Murugan has killed Taarakan and Krounjan. He then sent his messenger Veerabaahu to me!”.

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

11a. மகோற்கடர்

ரௌத்திரகேது சாரதை தம்பதியருக்குப்
புத்திரர் இருவர்; அவர்கள் இரட்டையர்.

தேவாந்தகன், நராந்தகன் என்ற பெயரில்
ஏவா மக்களாக வளர்ந்தனர் சிறப்புடன்.

தேவ முனிவர் நாரதர் வந்தார் அங்கே;
ஆவலுடன் வேண்டினர் ஆசீர்வாதம்.

பஞ்சாக்ஷர மந்திரத்தை உபதேசித்தார்
“பிஞ்சு மதி நாதனைப் பூஜியுங்கள்”எனத்

தவம் செய்யச் சென்றனர் வனத்துக்கு;
தடாகக் கரையில் இருந்தது சிவாலயம்.

தடாக நீரில் புனித நீராடினர் இருவரும்,
விடாமல் ஆராதித்தனர் சிவபிரானை.

பஞ்ச இந்திரியங்களை நன்கு நிர்வகித்தனர்.
கொஞ்சமும் உண்ணவில்லை அன்ன,பானம்.

தவம் செய்தனர் ஓராயிரம் ஆண்டுகள்
தவத்தை மெச்சிக் காட்சி தந்தான் சிவன்.

விரும்பித் தவம் செய்தது பிறவா வரத்துக்கு
விரும்பிக் கேட்டதோ முற்றிலும் மாறானது!

“மூவுலகையும் வெல்லும் திறன் வேண்டும்
மூவாமல் வாழ வேண்டும் நெடுங்காலம்!

தேவர்களால் அழிவின்மை வேண்டும்
தேவர்கள் ஏவல் செய்ய வாழவேண்டும்!”

வேண்டும் வரங்களை அருளிய சிவன்
மீண்டும் அங்கிருந்து மறைந்தருளினர்.

அந்தணர்களாக இருந்தவர்களை வரங்கள்
சொந்த குல ஆசாரங்களை மறக்கடித்தன.

நடாளும் ஆசை மேலோங்கியது மனத்தில்
நராந்தகனுக்குப் பாதாள, பூலோகங்கள்;

தேவலோகத்தை விரும்பினான் தேவாந்தகன்;
தேவலோகத்தை வெல்லச் சென்றான் அவன்.

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

41a. Mahorkkadar

Roudraketu and his wife Sarada had twins as their sons. The boys were named as Devaantakan and Naraantakan. They were well taken care of by their parents.

Narada visited the earth. They met him and wished to be blessed by him. Narada blessed the boys and taught them panchaakshara mahaa mantram. He told them to meditate on Lord Siva.

The boys left to do penance. They selected a spot near a pond on the bank of which a Siva temple was situated. They had a holy dip in the pond and started their severe penance.

They controlled their indriya and sacrificed food and drink. The penance went on for one thousand years. Siva was pleased with them an appeared in front of them.

Originally the boys wishes for moksha but when they saw Siva they asked for other powers. They wished to rule over the three worlds.

They wished for a long life span. They wished to become invincible by the Deva. Thy wished to be served by the Deva. Siva granted them everything thy wished for and disappeared.

The boons changed their temperaments. They forgot that they were Brahmins and started behaving like Kshatriya.

They wanted to rule over the three worlds. Devaantakan wished to conquer the swargga while Naraantakan wished to conquer the Paataala and the bhooloka.

5#13b. முதல் நாள் யுத்தம் (2)

ஊதினர் தேவர் வெற்றிச் சங்கு இதைக் கண்டு;
ஏவினர் கொடிய பாணங்களை அமைச்சர்கள்.

ஏவினாள் சக்தி தேவி ஐந்து பாணங்களை;
ஏவினான் பாஷ்கலன் ஏழு பாணங்களை.

எறிந்தாள் தேவி பத்து வலிய பாணங்களை.
தெரித்தது வில்லை அர்த்த சந்திர பாணம்.

பாய்ந்தான் கதையை ஓங்கிய பாஷ்கலன்;
சாய்த்தாள் தேவி அவனைத் தன் கதையால்

மூர்ச்சித்துக் கிடந்தான் முஹூர்த்த நேரம்
முயன்றான் மீண்டும் தேவியைத் தாக்கிட.

குத்தினால் தேவி அவனைச் சூலாயுத்தால்.
கத்தினான்; பின்பு மாண்டான் மார்பு பிளந்து!

வெற்றி முழக்கம் செய்தது தேவர் சமூஹம்
சற்றும் தயங்கவில்லை அசுரன் துர்முகன்.

“நில் பெண்ணே நான் உள்ளேன் இன்னமும்!”
வில்லை வளைத்தான்; எய்தான் பாணங்கள்.

தூள் தூளாக்கினாள் தேவி பாணங்களால்;
தூள் பறந்தது தொடர்ந்த கடும் போரினால்!

பெருகி ஓடியது ஒரு ரத்த ஆறு அங்கே!
பெருக்கில் ஓடின வெட்டுண்ட தலைகள்!

பறந்தன வானில் கழுகுகள் வட்டமிட்டு;
நெருங்கின செந்நாய்கள் உடலை உண்ண.

உடைத்தாள் தேவி வில்லை ஒரு பாணத்தால்
உடைத்தாள் தேவி தேரை ஐந்து பாணங்களால்

தாக்கினான் துன்முகன் சிங்கத்தை கதையால்!
தாக்குதல் செய்யவில்லை எந்தத் தாக்கமும்!

அரிந்தாள் தேவி துன்முகன் சிரசை வாளால்;
எறிந்தாள் கொய்த தலையைத் தூக்கி விசிறி.

பொழிந்தது மலர் மாரி விண்ணிலிருந்து
எழுந்தது ஜயஜய என்ற தேவர் கோஷம்.

5#13b. The first day’s war (2)

The Devaas blew the conch of victory. The asura ministers became very angry and shot terrible arrows.

Devi shot five arrows. Bashkalan shot seven arrows. Devi shot ten more arrows and broke his bow with a crescent moon shaped arrow.

Bashkalan pounced with his mace raised. Devi put him down with a blow from her own mace. He lay faint for one muhoortham.

Then he came round and tried to attack Devi again. Devi attacked him with her soolaayudam. He fell down screaming with pain as his chest was split open.

The Devaa made a jaya jaya gosham. Durmukhan was ready to take over. He told her, “I am still here to fight with you!”

He shot arrows on Devi. Devi shattered his arrows with her own. A terrifying war ensued between the asuraas and Devi.

A river of blood started flowing there! The severed heads of the asura floated in that river. Vultures circled in the sky to eat the dead and the wild dogs also moved in.

Devi broke Durmukhan’s bow with one arrow and chariot with five arrows. Durmukhan attacked Devi’s lion with his mace but the lion just ignored it.

Devi caught hold of Durmukhan’s head, severed it with her sword and tossed it away.

21b. மந்திராலோசனை.

“தூதுவன் ஒருவன் வந்தான் கடல் கடந்து;
தூதுவன் கொணர்ந்தான் விண்ணிலிருந்து

ஆதவனை நிகர்த்த ஓர் அரியணையை;
தூதுவன் பேசினான் அஞ்சாமல் என்முன்!

பேச்சுடன் நிற்கவில்லை அத்தூதுவன்-வாள்
வீச்சுடன் எதிர்த்தான் அவுணர்களை;

கொன்று குவித்தான் அவுணர்களை!
கோட்டை கொத்தளத்தை உடைத்தான்!

பிடிக்கச் சென்ற வீரரைக் கொன்றான்;
அடித்துக் கொன்றான் வஜ்ஜிரவாகுவை.

பிடிக்கமுடியவில்லை அந்தத் தூதுவனை.
கடிந்து சென்றுவிட்டான் கடல் கடந்து!

சிவன் மகன் வந்த செய்தி உண்மையே.
அவன் படை நாளை வருவதும் உண்மை.

எண்ணங்களை மறைக்காமல் சொல்லவும்,
என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் நாம் இப்போது?”

3 # 21. b. Soorapadman’s speech.

Murugan’s messenger came here crossing the ocean. He bought down a throne as brilliant as the sun, from the sky. He spoke without fear in my presence.

He attacked the asuras with his mighty sword. He killed many thousands of asuras. He destroyed our beautiful capital city.

Those who ventured to capture him were killed by him mercilessly. He killed prince Vajrabaahu. He made good his escape before we could capture him.

The news about Murugan is true. That his army will reach our city tomorrow is also true. I want your frank opinions as to what should be done now!”

11b. தேவாந்தகன்

ஆகாயமார்க்கமாகச் சென்றான் தேவலோகம்;
ஆகத்தியம் செய்தான் கற்பகச் சோலையில்!

துவம்சம் செய்தான் அழகிய சோலையை,
துவைத்து எடுத்தான் எதிர்த்து வந்தவர்களை.

பூமியிலிருந்து வந்தவனைக் கைதுசெய்ய
ஏவினான் தேவேந்திரன் தன் வீரர்களை!

வரங்களால் வலிமை பெற்ற தேவாந்தகன்,
வீரர்களை வென்று விட்டான் மிக எளிதாக.

வந்தான் இந்திரன் தன் ஐராவதத்தில் ஏறி;
வஜ்ஜிராயுததால் அடித்தான் பகைவனை.

உடைந்து சிதறியது அவன் வச்சிராயுதம்!
அடையவில்லை தேவாந்தகன் ஒரு காயம்!

அறைந்தான் ஐராவதத்தின் தலையில் ஓங்கி!
அரற்றியவாறு அது சாய்ந்துவிட்டது தரையில்.

அஞ்சுவது அஞ்சுவதற்கு அறிந்த இந்திரன்
தஞ்சம் அடைந்தான் எங்கோ ஓடிச் சென்று.

அடைந்தான் தேவர்சபையை தேவாந்தகன்
அமர்ந்தான் தேவேந்திரன் அரியணையில்.

“அபாயம் இல்லை என்னால் உங்களுக்கு,
உபாயமாகக் கீழ்ப்படிந்திடும் வரையில்.”

பிரம்ம லோகம் சென்றான் தேவாந்தகன்;
பிரமன் ஓடிவிட்டான் அதற்கும் முன்பே.

தேவாந்தகன் சென்றான் பின் வைகுந்தம்.
தேவாந்தகனை வைகுந்தம் வரவேற்றது!

பணிந்து விட்டது விண்ணுலகு முழுதும்;
பணிந்து விட்டது அவன் ஆணைகளுக்கு.

விண்ணுலகை வென்றான் தேவாந்தகன்
மண்ணுலகை வென்றான் தம்பி நராந்தகன்.

பணிந்து விட்டது பாதள உலகமும் – அடி
பணிந்தது நராந்தகனின் ஆணைகளுக்கு.

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

41b. Devaantakan

Devaantakan went to Swarggam and destroyed the garden of Indra. He fought everyone who came to stop him. Indra sent his army to arrest ‘the man from the earth’ who was causing trouble, but Devaantakan won over them easily.

Now Indra himself came on his Airaavat. He hit Devaantakan with his Vajraayudam. The Vajraayudam shattered to pieces but no harm was done to Devaantakan. He hit the head of Indra’s elephant Airaavat and it collapsed on the ground moaning with pain.

Indra knew when to quit and when to fight. So he quietly disappeared and took refuge somewhere. Devaantakan came to the Durbar of the Deva. He sat on Indra’s throne and spoke to the Deva, “I will not harm any of you as long as you remember to obey my orders!”

He next went to Satyalokam but Brahma had already fled from there. Vaikuntam also welcomed him warmly. So Devaantakan was now the king of the heavens.

Narantakan conquered the earth and paataalaa. The two brothers had conquered all the three worlds thus.

5#14a. இரண்டாவது யுத்தம் (1)

‘மாண்டனர் மதி அமைச்சர்கள் யுத்தத்தில்!’
மூண்டது வெஞ்சினம் மஹிஷன் சித்தத்தில்!

“பெண் கையால் மண்டனர் இரு அமைச்சர்கள்;
பண்ணுங்கள் அடுத்துச் செய்ய வேண்டியதை!”

முன் வந்தான் சிக்ஷூ என்ற சாரதி – போர்க்களம்
முன் சென்றான் பெருத்த அசுர சேனையுடன்.

முழக்கமிட்டாள் தேவி சங்கினை ஊதி – மேலும்
முழங்க விட்டாள் நாண் ஒலியுடன் கர்ஜனையை

ஓடினர் பின் வாங்கி அசுரப் படை வீரர்கள்;
“ஓடாதீர்கள்! ஓடாதீர்கள்!” தடுத்தான் சிக்ஷூ.

“சங்கம், கண்டாமணி, கர்ஜனைகளைக் கேட்டு
இங்கிருந்து ஓடிவிடுவேன் என்று எண்ணாதே!

எங்கனம் எய்வேன் பாணம் உன் மீது?
தங்க விக்கிரகம் போன்ற பெண்ணே !

கட்டழகியே ஏன் விரும்புகிறாய் போரினை?
வெட்டப் பட்டு வீழ்ந்து மரணமடையவா?

‘அடைவர் வீர சுவர்க்கம் போர்வீரர்கள்!’
இடைவிடாது பரவும் கட்டுக் கதை இது ”

கூறினான் அரக்கன் சிக்ஷூ தேவியிடம்,
கூறினாள் தேவி அரக்கன் சிக்ஷூவிடம்.

“யுத்தத்தில் வென்ற பிறகே திரும்புவேன் நான்!
யுத்த பூமியை மஹிஷன் ரத்தத்தால் சேறாக்கி!

நாட்டுவேன் வெற்றித் தூணை அந்தச் சேற்றில்;
நாட்டுவேன் இந்திரன் ஆட்சியைச் சுவர்க்கத்தில்!

5#14a. The second day’s war (1)

When Mahishan was informed of the death of the two ministers, he flew into a fit of rage. He sent a talented charioteer Sikshoo to the war front with a huge asura sena.

Devi blew her conch on seeing the asura army. She roared and the twang of her bow merged with it spreading fear in the hearts of the asura warriors. They started running in all possible directions. Sikshoo stopped them from running away.

He told Devi, “Don’t dream that I will scream and run away from here on hearing your conch, roar and the twang of your bow. But how can I shoot my arrows on you when you look like an idol made of pure gold?

Why do want a war? Do you want to get killed? That the brave warriors reach Swarggam is pure nonsense repeated over and over since long.”

Devi replied to him, “I shall go away only after killing Mahishan and shedding his blood on this ground to create a bloody muddy slush and plant my jaya sthambam on it. I will put Indra back on his throne in Swarggam.”

21c. மகிடன், துர்குணன்

மகிடன் பதில்:-
தாரகனைக் கொன்றவன் சிறுவனோ?
தாரகனைக் கொன்றவன் மாவீரன்.

கடலைக் கடந்து ஒருவனாக வந்து
படைகளை அழிப்பவன் தூதுவனோ?

தாரகன் மாயந்தவுடனேயே விரைந்து
போருக்கு நீ சென்றிருக்க வேண்டும்.

படைகளை அனுப்பவும் இல்லை;
தடை செய்யவும் இல்லை தூதனை.

தீ சிறிதாயினும் எரிக்கும் அல்லவா?
நீ போருக்கு உடனே சென்றிருந்தால்,

தூதனும் நம் நகரம் வந்திரான் – யம
தூதனை போலக் கொன்றிறான் மகனை.”

துர்குணன் பதில்:-

“திருமால் தேவர்களுடன் போர் செய்ய
அருமைத் தம்பிகளையே அனுப்பினாய்.

சிறுவன் ஒருவனோடு போர் புரிவது உன்
பெருமைக்கு அழகோ எண்ணிப் பார்.

சிறுவனுடன் போர் செய்வது சிறுமையே.
பெரும்படையை அனுப்பினால் போதுமே.”

3 # 21 c. Mahishan and Durgunan.

Mahishan was the first one to reply!

“The one killed Taarakan cannot be an ordinary boy!
He must be a great warrior.Will any ordinary messenger venture to cross the ocean all by himself?

Will he dare to meddle with and destroy the powerful asura army? As soon as Taarakan was killed you must have marched your army and fought with Murugan. You did not send your army to fight him. You did not try to stop the messenger.

If you had waged a war then, the messenger would never have come this far. Murugan may appear to us as a young boy. But fire is fire. It will burn everything whether it is a tiny spark or a roaring flame.”

Durgunan got up and spoke now.

“You sent only your brothers to fight Vishnu and the other devas. Fighting with a mere child does not add to your glory and fame. On the other hand, it will tarnish your greatness. Just send a huge army to vanquish Murugan.”

11c. அதிதி தேவி

கண்டாள் தேவர்கள் படும் துயரை – மனம்
நொந்தாள் தேவமாதா அதிதி தேவியார்.

பணிந்து வேண்டினாள் கணவர் கசியபரிடம்,
துணிந்து தேவர்களைக் காக்க வல்ல மகனை.

“அழிக்க வல்லவர் கணநாதர் ஒருவரே!
வழிபட்டு வணங்கித் தவம் நீ செய்தால்,

குமாரனாக வந்து அவதரிப்பார் – மற்ற
குமாரர்களின் துயர் துடைப்பார்” என்றார்

வனத்துக்குச் சென்ற அதிதி தேவி – தவம்
மனம் ஒன்றிச் செய்தாள் நூறு ஆண்டுகள்!

மனம் கனிந்து காட்சி தந்தார் விநாயகர்,
“மனம் விரும்பும் வரம் என்ன?” என்றார்.

“தேவர்கள் துன்புறுகின்றனர் மனிதனிடம்;
தேவை துயர் துடைக்கவல்ல ஒரு மகன்.

உம்மைத் தவிர எவராலும் அழிவில்லை.
நம்பிக்கை தரப் பிறக்கவேண்டும் மகனாக!”

ஒளிந்து கொண்டிருந்த பிரமதேவனிடம்
ஒன்றாகச் சென்றனர் தேவர்கள்.குழுமி.

‘அழிப்பதற்கு உபாயம் கூறுங்கள்!” என
“அழிக்க வல்லவர் விநாயகர் ஒருவரே!”

பிரமன், விஷ்ணு, தேவர்களுடன் கூடி
பிரார்த்தித்தனர் விநாயகர் அருள் நாடி.

விண்ணில் ஓங்கி ஒலித்தது ஓர் அசரீரி,
“விரைவில் உங்கள் துயர் துடைப்பேன்!”

விநாயகர் தோன்றினார் அதிதி முன்பு;
வியப்புக்குரிய அழகிய வடிவம் தரித்து.

வீசிய ஒளியால் கூசின அவள் கண்கள்! .
பாசம் பொங்கியது பார்த்த உடனேயே!

“குழந்தையாக உருமாறிவிட வேண்டும்;
மழலை மொழிகள் பேசவேண்டும்!” என

ஆனார் வினாயகர் பிறந்த குழந்தையாக!
அணைத்துக் கொஞ்சினாள் அதிதி தேவி.

மலர்கள் பூத்து மணம் பரப்பின உலகில்!
மந்த மாருதம் வந்து தழுவியது உலகை!

வந்தனர் தெய்வக் குழந்தையைக் காண;
வணக்கத்துக்கு உரிய முனி புங்கவர்கள்.

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

41c. Aditi Devi

Aditi Devi, the mother of all Deva, was pained to see their sufferings. She begged her husband sage Kashyap to give her a strong son – who could deliver the Deva from their sufferings.

Kashyap told her “Only Vinayaka can deliver the Deva from their sufferings. If you do severe penance, he will appear as your son and save your other sons”

Aditi want to the forest and did severe penance for one hundred years. Vinayaka appeared to her. Aditi Devi told him,

“The Deva are suffering in the hands of a mere human being. I was told by my husband that only you can destroy the wicked Devaantaka and free my sons from his prison. You must be born as my son”. Vinayaka gave her that boon.

The Deva who were in hiding came to Brahma and asked him, “When will our sufferings come to an end?” Brahma told them, “Only Vinayaka can help us. Let us all pray for his grace.”

An asareeri was heard. It said, “I will take birth and put an end to all your sufferings. ” the Deva felt happy with this promise.

Vinayaka appeared to Aditi Devi in his brilliant form. She was blinded by his brilliance and begged him to appear as a small human child. Vinayaka transformed himself in to a small baby. Aditi embraced and kissed the divine child.

5#14b. இரண்டாவது யுத்தம் (2)

மேக மழையைப் போலப் பெய்தான் சிக்ஷூ
வேகமான சர மழையினைத் தேவியின் மீது.

தடுத்தாள் தேவி அவற்றைத் தன் பாணங்களால்;
தொடுத்தாள் தேர்க்கொடியை முறிக்க ஒரு பாணம்.

மயங்கினான் சிக்ஷூ தேவியின் கதாயுதத்துக்கு.
தயங்காமல் தாக்கினான் உடன் வந்த தாம்பரன்.

எழுந்தவுடன் எய்தான் சிக்ஷூ பாணங்களை;
எதிர்த்தனர் தேவியை இருவரும் ஒன்றாக.

பொழிந்தாள் தேவியும் சரமழை ஒன்றை!
கிழிந்தன கவசங்கள்; பொழிந்தது உதிரம்!

விளங்கியது அசுரர்களில் உடலில் உதிரம்
அழகிய கல்யாண முருங்கையைப் போல்!

அடித்தான் சிங்கத்தை அசுரன் தாம்பரன்
அடர்ந்த, கனத்த இரும்பு உலக்கையால்!

நகைத்தான் இடி போன்று உடல் குலுங்க.
தகைத்தாள் சிரத்தை நொடியில் வாளால்

கூத்தாடியது சிரமற்ற உடல் சிறிது நேரம்.
தள்ளாடி யுத்த பூமியில் விழுந்தது பின்பு.

பாய்ந்தான் சிக்ஷூ தன் வாளை ஏந்தியபடி
மாய்த்தாள் தேவி அவனைப் பாணங்களால்.

மிரண்டு ஓடலானது அசுரர்களின் படை.
திரண்டு கிடந்தன அசுரர்களின் உடல்கள்.

முழங்கினர் வெற்றிச் சங்கை தேவர்கள்!
வணங்கினர் வீர வெற்றிச் செல்வியை!

5#14b. The second day’s war

Sikshoo shot arrows on Devi as a cloud rains water droplets. Devi broke them with her own rain of arrows. She broke the flag on his chariot and beat him with her mace.

Sikshoo fainted and Taambran took over and started attacking Devi. Sikshoo came round soon and they both attacked Devi with their weapons.

Devi rained arrows on them and tore open their body armors. Their wounds bled profusely on the bodies of the dark hued asuraas and made them resemble the Kaluyana murungi trees.

Taambran attacked Devi’s lion with a dense, heavy iron pestle and laughed like thunder claps. Devi cut off his head in a moment. The decapitated body danced for a short while before dropping dead in the battle field.

Sikshoo lifted his sword and charged on Devi. She shot five arrows and killed him. The asura army started running in utter confusion. The bodies of the asuras killed in the war lay heaped.

The Deva blew their conches of victory and paid obeisance to Devi – their protector.

21d. தருமகோபன் பதில்.

“நவமணிகள் பதித்த பொற்கலப்பையால்
நிலபுலன்களை உழுவது போன்றதே;

அண்டர்கோன் ஆகிய மாவீரன் நீயும்
அச்சிறுவனிடம் சென்று போர்புரிவது!

அவன் என்ன சிவபெருமானா? அல்ல!
அவன் என்ன நெடிய திருமாலா?அல்ல!

அவன் என்ன நான்முகனா? அல்லவே!
அவன் என்ன நமனா? அல்லவே!

அண்டர்கோன் சூரனான உன்னைக்
கண்டதும் ஓடி ஒளிவான் சிறுவன்!

சிறுவனோடு போரிட நீயே சென்றால்
சிறுமையால் நாணுவர் நம்குலத்தவர்.

நம்மைக் கண்டு நகைப்பர் தேவர்;
நம்மிலும் தாழ்ந்த மனிதர்கள் கூட.

அகத்தியரின் சாபத்தால் மட்டுமே
அழிந்தது கிரௌஞ்சம் அறிவாய்!

தகுந்த படைக்கலன்கள் இன்மையால்
தாரகனும், வஜ்ஜிவாகுவும் அழிந்தனர்.

ஒரு படைத் தலைவனை அனுப்புவாய்.
முருகனை அவனே போரில் வெல்வான்!”

3 # 21d. Dharmagopan’s reply.

” Your fighting the little boy is as ridiculous as ploughing a field with a plough made of gold and set with precious gems.

Is he Siva himself that you should personally confront him? He is neither Vishnu, nor Brahma nor Naman.

The moment he sets his eyes on you, he will run and hide himself. If you go to fight him, the race of asuras will feel ashamed. The devas and manushyas will laugh at us.

Krounja giri got destroyed because of the curse cast by sage Agasthya. Thaarakan and Vajrabaahu did not have proper asthras and got killed.

Just send one of your generals. He will surely conquer Murugan and his army.” Dharmagopan told Soorapadman thus.

11d. அசுர மாது

தொடர்ந்தன துர்சகுனங்கள் பல காலம்;
தொடக்கத்தில் அலட்சியம் செய்தாலும்

ஜோதிடர்களை வரவழைத்தான் பிறகு;
“ஆதிகாரணன் அவதரித்துள்ளான் உலகில்.

அழிவு காலம் நெருங்கிவிட்டது என்பதைத்
தெளிவு படுத்துகின்றன இத் துர்சகுனங்கள்!”

அசுரப் பெண்ணைப் பணித்தான் நராந்தகன்;
“ஆசிரமம் சென்று அழித்துவிடு குழந்தையை”

வடிவெடுத்தாள் அந்தணப் பெண்ணாக அரக்கி;
குடிலுக்கு விரைந்து சென்றாள் மகோற்கடரிடம்;

நீராடச் சென்றிருந்தார் காசியப முனிவர்;
நிறைவான பூஜையில் இருந்தாள் அதிதி.

நுழைந்தாள் குடிலில் பழகியவள் போல;
விழுங்கினாள் குழந்தையை வாயிலிட்டு.

உதரத்தை அடைந்தவுடன் மகோற்கடர்
உக்கிரமாக வீசினார் விழிகளால் அனலை.

வெப்பம் தாங்காமல் தவித்தாள் அரக்கி.
வெள்ளத்தை அள்ளிக் குடித்தாள் அரக்கி.

ஆறு கிணறு குளங்கள் வற்றிவிட்டன
ஆறவில்லை அரக்கியின் உடல் வெப்பம்,.

எழும்பினாள் மேலே ஆகாயகங்கைக்கு
அழுத்தினார் கீழே கால் கட்டைவிரலால்

நிலை தடுமாறி மலை விழுந்தது போல,
நிலத்தில் விழுந்து மாண்டாள் அரக்கி,

கட்டைவிரலால் வயிற்றைக் கிழித்துச்
சட்டை செய்யாமல் வந்தார் வெளியே.

சப்தம் கேட்டு ஓடிவந்தவர்கள் நடுங்கி
சப்த நாடிகளும் ஒடுங்கிப் போயினர்.

மலை போன்ற மாபெரும் அரக்கியின்
மார்பின் மீது விளையாடும் குழந்தையை!

திருஷ்டி கழித்துப் பிரார்த்தனை செய்யவும்,
திருப்தி அடைந்தார் மகோற்கடர் இவற்றால்!
