5#4b. Bruhaspati (1)

Indra told guru Bruhaspati,” I foresee dangers for Deva. You must guide us to overcome it. Mahishan is waging a war against Deva.

Please tell me how to deal with this problem. Guru Sukran always helps the asuras. You must help us in the same way”

Bruhaspati thought for sometime and then spoke to Indra,”Victory and defeat do not belong to anyone all the time. They are common for both the the sides during a war.

Never lose your courage. If courage is lost victory will elude you and you will have to embrace defeat. Even the enlightened persons who say that everything is in the hands of God, never stop doing their best.

A King’s duty is to try his best without worrying about the outcome as to victory or defeat. Without effort nothing can be achieved, There will be neither victory, nor growth, nor happiness without sincere efforts. Effort is a god given gift.

Real effort can change a person’s life just as laziness can ruin it. A strong man may be sad and a weak man may be happy. A well read person may go hungry while an ill read person may eat contentedly. It is all due to our sincere effort or the lack of it!”

1b. புறப்பாடு.

முருகன் விதித்த பணியை மகிழ்ந்து
கருத்தில் கொண்டார் வீரவாகுத் தேவர்.

முருகனை வணங்கி விடை பெற்றவரிடம்,
அருகில் இருந்த இந்திரன் உரைத்தான்.

“சிறையில் வாடும் அருமை மகனை
விரைவில் மீட்போம் என்று தேற்றுவீரா?”

“அவ்வாறே செய்கிறேன்!” என்று கூறிச்
செவ்வனே தொடரும் வீரர்களைத் தடுத்துக்

கடற்கரையைச் சென்றடைந்த வீரவாகு,
கந்தமாதன மலையின் மீது ஏறி நின்றார்.

பேருருவம் ஒன்றை எடுத்துக் கொண்டார்.
ஆரவாரம் செய்து மகிழ்ந்தனர் தேவர்.

அம்மலையோ எனில் பிளந்து தாழ்ந்தது.
அம் மலைவாழ் விலங்குகள் அஞ்சி ஓடின.

“சூரபத்மனின் நகர் அதோ தொலைவில்!”
வீர மகேந்திரபுரியைக் கண்டு வியந்தார்.

“பெரிய வடிவுடன் செல்வதிலும் நன்று
சிறிய வடிவுடன் செல்வது” என்று

வெல்லத் தக்க ஒரு வடிவம் எடுத்தார்.
செல்வதற்கு விண்ணில் எழும்பினார்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

3 # 1 b. Veerabaahu – the messenger.

Veerabaahu was happy with the job entrusted to him by murugan. He took leave of Murugan and Indra spoke to him,

“Will you please meet my son Jayandan who is Soorapadman’s prison and reassure him that we will get him released very soon?”

Veerabaahu agreed to do so. He stopped his retinue from following him. He went to the sea shore and climbed on the Gandamaadana mountain.

He assumed a very huge form. The devas became happy and cheered him. The mountain got partially buried under his immense weight. The animals living in it started running in every direction.

Veerabbahu could see Veera Mahendrapuri at a distance and was impressed by its beauty.

He decided that it was better to travel taking a smaller form rather than his present huge form. Accordingly he changed his size and leaped into the sky.

ஓடி வந்தது ஒரு மதயானை – விளை
யாடிக் கொண்டிருந்த சிறுவர்களிடம்.

சிதறி ஓடி விட்டனர் சிறுவர்கள்!
சிந்தனையாலே வரவழைத்த ஒரு

அங்குசத்தை மனதால் கணேசன் ஏவிட,
அங்கேயே விழுந்து மடிந்தது மதயானை.

பிஞ்சு பாலகனுக்கு வயது இரண்டு;
வஞ்சம் கொண்டு வந்தான் ஓர் அசுரன்.

தடாக நீரில் நஞ்சைக் கலந்து விட்டு,
கூடாசுரன் காத்திருந்தான் மறைந்து.

மாய்ந்தனர் தடாக நீரை அருந்தியவர்
தீய்ந்தன மரங்கள், செடி கொடிகள்.

கண்களால் தண்ணீரைக் கணேசன்
கண்டதும் நீங்கியது நச்சுத்தன்மை!

துளிர்த்தன மரங்கள், செடி கொடிகள்,
பிழைத்தனர் நஞ்சினால் மாண்டவர்.

மூன்றாவது கண்ணைத் திறந்து நோக்க,
மறைந்திருந்தவன் எரிந்து சாம்பலானான்.

மீனாக மாறி ஒளிந்திருந்தான் அசுரன் ,
முனிகுமாரர்கள் நீராடும் தடாகத்தில்.

கரங்களால் மீனைக் கணேசன் பிடித்து,
கரையில் எறிந்ததும் இறந்தான் அசுரன்.

மலையாக மாறி நின்ற அசுரனை கணேசன்,
மணலாக்கி விட்டார் ஒரு ஹூங்காரத்தால்.

#39e. Baala Leelaa (5)

A mad elephant came charging at the children playing with Ganesha. They all ran away frightened except Ganesha. He made an ankusam appear by his command and aimed it at the mad elephant. The ankusam split the head of the elephant into two and the elephant fell down and died.

Ganesha was now two years old. An asuran named Gudaasuran came there with a vengeance. He poisoned the water of the pond and waited among the clouds invisible to everyone. Those who drank the water of the pond dropped dead and the plants and trees withered due to the poison.

Ganesha stared at the water of the pond and the poison in the pond was destroyed by his mere glance. Then he looked at the

Gudaasuran hiding among the clouds with his third fiery eye and reduced the asuran into ashes. The trees and plants were revived and the people who died were resurrected by Ganesha.

Another asuran became a fish in the pond of water, used by those living in the ashram. Ganesha caught the fish with his bare hands and threw it on the banks of the ponds. The asuran got killed by the impact on the earth.

Another asuran became a huge mountain and blocked Ganesha’s path. The mountain was shattered into rubble by the hoonkaara sound made by Ganesha.

5#4c. பிருஹஸ்பதி (2)

“தோல்வியை அடையலாம் சூரனும், வீரனும்!
போரில் வெல்லலாம் கோழையும், பேடியும் !

அனைத்தும் தெய்வத்தின் செயல்கள் அல்லவா?
நினைக்கலாகாது வெற்றி தோல்வியைப் பற்றி!

காண வேண்டும் சுகத்தில் இன்னும் அதிக சுகம்;
காண வேண்டும் துக்கத்தில் இன்னும் அதிக துக்கம்.

சமபாவமுண்டாகும் நம் புத்தி திடமானால்!
சமமாகும் சுக, துக்கம் நம் புத்தி திடமனால்!

அனுபவங்கள் அனைத்தும் உடல் சார்ந்தவை.
அனுபவங்கள் சாரா உடலில் உள்ள ஆத்மாவை.

துக்கத்தை ஒழிப்பதற்கு உள்ள ஒரே வழி
துக்கம் தரும் அஹங்காரத்தை ஒழிப்பது.

செய்யவேண்டும் ஆழமான ஞான விசாரம்;
செய்ய வேண்டும் கர்மங்களை நாசனம்.

நடப்பது நடந்த தீரும்; தடுக்க இயலாது!
நடக்கப் போவதை நீ சிந்திப்பானேன்?

நாசம் செய்யும் புண்ணியத்தைச் சுகம்;
நாசம் செய்யும் பாவத்தைத் துக்கம்;

பாவ நாசத்தோடு புண்ணியமும் விலகிட,
ஆவல் கொள்ளலாகாது சுகத்துக்கும் கூட.

சுகம் நாசமாகுமோ என்று ஐயுறதே இந்திரா!
செய்வாய் யுத்தம் அதன் விதிப்படி!” என்றார்.

5#4c. Bruhaspati (2)

Bruhaspati continued advising Indra,”A valorous warrior may get defeated and a knock-kneed man may win. Everything is in the hands of God. One should not worry anticipating about the outcomes of one’s actions.

We must learn to get more joy out of our joys and more sorrows out of our sorrows. If the intellect is strong, equanimity will develop. When equanimity develops, we can be unruffled by both pleasure and pain.

All our pleasures and pains affect only the physical body and not the aatman residing inside us. The only means of destroying sorrow is to destroy the ahankaaram. One must contemplate on attaining gnaanan and how to destroy the effects of karma.

Whatever will be will be. No one can change it. So why worry about what is inevitable? The pleasures we enjoy cancel the effects of our good karma and our sufferings will cancel the effects of our bad karma.

If we decide to get out of the effects of karma, we should not wish even for any pleasure. Don’t worry about whether you will lose the pleasures of the life in swarggam. Go to the war front and fight according to the yuddha dharma.”

Thus spoke Bruhaspati to Indra who sought his advice.

2. விண்ணிற் பறத்தல்.

வீரவாகுத் தேவர் எழும்பியவுடனேயே
விரைவின் இழுப்பால் பறந்தன மலைகள்.

விரைந்த காற்றில் சுழன்றன உயிர்கள்;
விரைந்த காற்றில் திரிந்தன உலகங்கள்.

கருமுகில் கலங்கி வடவாக்னி அணையக்
கதிரவன் குளிர்ந்தது; மதில்கள் பெயர்ந்தன.

மூச்சுக் காற்றின் தீ நகரைக் கொளுத்திவிட
மூண்ட தீயை அணைத்தது தள்ளுண்ட நீர்!

கடலில் உதிர்ந்தன பல விண்மீன்கள்.
கடல் மீன்களோ விண்ணிற்பறந்தன!

இரத்தின வளையின் திகழும் பேரொளி
சக்கரவாள கிரியில் ஒளி வீசியது.

“முப்புரம் எரித்த அப்பனின் நகைப்போ?
முருகக் கடவுள் எறிந்த வேற்படையோ?”

கண்டவர் ஐயுறச் சென்றடைந்தான் அவன்
அண்டர்கோனின் வீர மகேந்திரபுரிக்கு,

வடக்கே அமைந்த இலங்கையை – அதைத்
திடமாய்க் காவல் செய்பவன் யாளிமுகன்.

3 # 2. Soaring in the sky.

When Veerabaahu soared in the sky, the force of his travel displaced the mountains which started to fly along with him. The speed of his flight churned the worlds and all the living beings in the worlds.

The water-laden-clouds rained and put out the vadavaagni. The Sun became cooler. The surrounding wall of the city got pushed down.

His fiery breath set fire to the city. The tidal waves which rose from the force of his breath put out the fire.

The stars of the sky fell down into the sea. The fish from the sea flew up in the air. The sparkle of his gem studded kankan shone on the chakkaravaala giri.

The onlookers wondered ,”Is this the laughter of Siva which set fire to the Tripuram? Is this the spear thrown by Murugan?”

Veerabaahu landed in Lanka which was situated to the north of Veera mahendrapuri and was under the protection of yaalimukhan.

கணேசனுக்கு வயது நான்கு இப்போது!
நினைத்தவுடன் குடிக்க வேண்டும் பால்.

பூஜையில் இருந்த அன்னை சொன்னாள்,
“பூஜையைக் கெடுக்காதே கண்ணா!” என்று.

கணேசன் மாறிவிட்டான் கண நேரத்தில்,
அனைவரும் பூஜிக்கும் சதாசிவமாகவே!

கரங்கள் பத்துடன், முகங்கள் ஐந்துடன்.
கண்டதும் அதிர்ந்து போனாள் அன்னை.

“பூஜிக்கும் தெய்வத்திடமா சொன்னேன்,
பூஜையைக் கெடுக்காதே என்று நான்?”

வினோத அசுரன் வந்தான் ஒருநாள்;
விளையாட்டுக் காட்டினான் சிறாருக்கு.

விழுங்கினான் அவர்களை வாயில் போட்டு;
வெளியே வரச் செய்தான் காதுகளின் வழியே

சென்றனர் அவன் மூக்கில் புகுந்து உள்ளே
வந்தனர் வெளியே காதுகள், வாய் வழியே.

கணேசனையும் எடுத்து விழுங்கினான்;
கணேசனை வெளியில் வரவிடவில்லை

தோன்றினார் தேவியின் திருமுகத்தில்;
கொன்றார் அசுரனை ஓங்கி அறைந்து!

வந்தான் ஓர் அசுரன் ஒட்டகவடிவில்!
வந்தான் ஓர் அசுரன் நிழலைப் பிடிக்க!

வந்தான் ஓர் அசுரன் பந்தாடுவதற்கு;
வந்த அசுரர் எவரும் திரும்பவில்லை

விஷமம் செய்வான் வீடுகளில் கணேசன்!
வினயமாகக் காட்சி தருவான் தன் வீட்டில்!

சகலரும் உணர்ந்தனர் வெகு விரைவில்,
சர்வேஸ்வரனே அவதரித்துள்ளான் என்று!

#39f. Baala Leelaa.

Ganesha was now four years old. He must have his milk whenever he wanted to drink. He went and disturbed Devi who was in her pooja. Devi told him,”Do not disturb my pooja please!”

Ganesha transformed into Lord Sadaasivam with five faces and ten arms. Devi realized that Ganesha was not different from the God she was worshiping.

A strange asura came there one day. He played with the children a strange game. He swallowed them whole and let them walk out of his mouth through his ears. He let them enter through his nose and come out through his mouth and ears.

Ganesha was also swallowed by him but he did not allow Ganesha to come out. Ganesha appeared from Devi’s face and killed the asura by slapping him very hard.

Many more asuras came there to kill Ganesha. One asuran came as a camel, another to catch his chaayaa and another to play a game of ball. None of them went back alive.

Ganesha would play pranks in the houses of those who lived in the ashram. When they go to Devi, to complain about him, he would be seen in his own home sitting quietly.

Very soon everyone knew that it was none other than the Supreme god who had been born as Ganesha.

5 #5a. யுத்தம் (1)

இந்திரன் கூறினான் குலகுருவிடம் இதனை,
“விந்தை மொழியன்றோ உம் ஆலோசனை!

சிந்தையிலுள்ள அகந்தை அழிந்தால் – நான்
எந்த விதமாக ஆள முடியும் சுவர்க்கத்தை?

ஆபரணம் ஆகும் ஞானம் துறவியருக்கு!
ஆபரணம் ஆகும் திருப்தி அந்தணருக்கு!

ஆபரணம் ஆகும் வெற்றி க்ஷத்திரியருக்கு;
ஆபரணம் ஆகாது தோல்வி வீரர்களுக்கு!

முயற்சியால் வென்றோம் பல அசுரர்களை.
முயற்சியால் வெல்வோம் மஹிஷனையும்!

காக்க வேண்டும் போரிடும் எம் முயற்சியை;
காக்க வேண்டும் போரிடும் நம் வீரர்களை.

பாராயணம் செய்யுங்கள் ரக்ஷோக்னத்தை;
பாதுகாக்கும் அதுபடை நடத்தும் தேவரை!”


“வெற்றியோ தோல்வியோ ஊழ் வினைப் பயன்;
பெற்றிடுவாய் சென்று நான்முகனின் சகாயம் !”

“சுவர்க்கத்தைக் கைப்பற்ற முயலும் மகிஷனின்
கர்வத்தை அடக்கி வெல்ல உதவிட வேண்டும்!”

இந்திரன் சென்றான் பிரமனிடம் உடனே.
இந்திரன் பெற்றான் பிரமனின் திருவருள்.

பிரமன் சென்றான் தேவருடன் கைலாசம்
பிரமன் பெற்றான் பிரானின் திருவருள்

சென்றனர் அனைவரும் வைகுந்தம் நேராக!
செப்பினர் உருவான நெருக்கடி நிலைமையை!

“காக்கும் கடவுளான நான் உதவுவேன்!
ஊக்கத்துடன் செல்லுங்கள் போர்க்களம்!”

விநாயகனையும் வேலனையும் தொழுது,
அனாயாசமாகச் சென்றனர் யுத்தகளத்துக்கு!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

5#5a. Yuddham (1)

Indra was shocked to listen to this sermon from his kulaguru Bruhaspati at such a time of emergency.

He replied,” I am surprised by your advices Guru Deva. How can I rule over swarggam if my ahankaaram is completely destroyed?

Self knowledge is a jewel that adorns a gnaani. Contentment is a jewel that adorns a Brahmin. Victory is a jewel that adorns Kshatriya. Defeat does not adorn a warrior.

We have defeated several asuras earlier. We will defeat Mahishan also in the same way. You will have to protect the Devaas and our efforts to win over Mahishan. Please chant the slokas which will protect us the warring Devaas.”

Bruhaspati replied to Indra, ” Do not worry about winning or losing in the war. Get the assistance of Brahma Devan. ”

Indra said, “We will protect swarggam from the invading Mahishan and you please pray for our welfare!”

Indra went to meet Brahman along with the Devaas. Brahma accompanied them to Kailash and they got the blessings of Siva. Now all of them together went to meet lord Naaraayan.

Naaraayan promised, “I shall help you, have no fear.” The Deva worshiped Vinaayaka the God of victory and Subrahmanya the Deva senaapati and went to the war front.

3. வீரசிங்கன் அழிவு.

இலங்கையை வீரபாகு அடைந்தபோது
இலங்கையில் இருக்கவில்லை யாளிமுகன்.

சூரபத்மனைக் காணப் படைகளுடன்
வீரமகேந்திரபுரி சென்றிருந்தான் அவன்.

அதிவீரன் என்னும் மகன் இலங்கையை
ஆயிரம் வெள்ளம் படைகளுடன் காத்தான்.

படைத் தலைவர்களில் ஒருவன் வீர சிங்கன்.
வடக்கு வாயிலில் அவன் புரிந்தான் காவல்.

விரைந்து சென்ற வீர பாகுவைக் கண்டு
வியந்து நின்றான் ,”இவன் யார்?” என்று.

ஐநூறு வெள்ளம் படைகளுடன் சென்று,
“மெய் கூறு யார் நீ? எங்கு வந்தாய்?”என,

“சூரபத்மனின் வீரமஹேந்திரபுரி செல்கிறேன்.
வீரனே உன்னால் இயன்றதைச் செய்”என்றான்.

“படை வீரர்களிடம் பணித்தான் வீரசிங்கன்,
“உடைப்பீர் ஆணவத்தை! பறிப்பீர் உயிரை!”

வாட்படையை உருவிப் போர் தொடுத்து
நாற்படையையும் அழித்தார் வீரபாகு.

நூறு வெள்ளம் படைவீரர் அழிந்தனர்.
தாறுமாறாக ஓடினர் மற்ற அவுணர்கள்.

வீரசிங்கன் விடுத்த சூலம் துண்டானது!
வீரசிங்கன் வீசிய குலிசம் துண்டானது.

வீரசிங்கனின் கரம் சிரம் அறுத்துத் தள்ளி
வீரவாகு பாய்ந்தார் இலங்கையினுள்.

3 # 3. Veerasingan is defeated.

When Veera baahu reached Lanka, Yaalimukan was not there. He had gone to visit Soorapadman in Veera mahendrapuri.

His son Athiveeran was guarding Lanka with the help of one thousand vellam of the army.

Veerasingan was in charge of the northern gate. He saw Veera baahu hurrying inside the city and wondered who it could be!

He confronted Veera baahu with five hundred veLLam of the asura sena and demanded to now , “Who are you? What is your business here? Tell me the truth”

“I am on my way to Veera mahendrapuri. You may do what you deem fit!” Veerasingan ordered his army,” Cut his pride to size and kill him”

Veerabahu drew out his sword and killed one hundred vellam of the army. The rest of the army ran away. He cut into two the soolam thrown by Veerasingan.

He cut into two the kulisam thrown by Veerasingan. He then cut off the hands and head of veerasingan and rushed into Lanka.

தாபரம் நகரின் தென்பக்கத் தோப்பில்
தவமுனிவர் கௌண்டின்யர் வசித்தார்.

ஆசிரியை முனிபுங்கவரின் மனைவி.
பூசிப்பர் ஐங்கரனை நேசத்துடன் இவர்.

அனுதினம் அறுகம் புற்கள் கொணர்ந்து
அர்ச்சிப்பர் பதினாயிரம் அறுகுகளால்!

“மலர்கள் வித விதமாகக் கிடைக்கையில்
மணமில்லாத புற்களால் பூசிப்பது ஏன் ?”

ஆசிரியை கேட்டார் ஐயத்தை அவரிடம்;
நேசிக்கும் மனைவிக்கு கூறினார் முனிவர்.

“தேன் பருகும் வண்டாகச் சுவைத்தான்
தேவமாதரின் நடனத்தை யமன் அன்று.

நழுவியது திலோத்தமையின் மேலாடை.
நகர்ந்து சென்றுவிட்டாள் நாணத்துடன்.

விழுந்த மேலாடை தூண்டியது விரகத்தை
எழுந்து விரைந்தான் அந்தப் புரத்துக்கு.

அதிக விரகத்தால் வெளிப்பட்டது தேஜஸ்
அதனின்றும் தோன்றினான் அனலாசுரன்.

நடுங்கினர் தேவர்கள் அசுரனைக் கண்டு
நான்கு புறங்களிலும் ஓடி ஒளிந்தனர்.

அரக்கனைக் காண விரும்பாத யமன்
அடைக்கலம் புகுந்தான் அந்தப்புரத்தில்!

அனலாசுரன் அடைந்தான் மிகச் செருக்கு.
அடித்துத் துன்புறுத்தினான் தேவர்களை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 9g. பாலலீலைகள் (7)

பரசு, பாசம், தாமரை, அங்குசம்;
பரிசாக அளித்தான் விஸ்வகர்மா.

“என்ன இவை?” என்றார் கணேசன்’
சொன்னான் கதையை விஸ்வகர்மா.

“சூரியனுக்கு மணம் செய்வித்தேன்
சமுஞை என்ற என்னுடைய மகளை.

சாயையை விட்டு விட்டுத் திரும்பினாள்,
சமுஞை சூட்டைத் தாங்க முடியாததால்.

தேடிக் கொண்டு வந்தான் சூரிய தேவன்;
ஓடினாள் வனத்துக்குப் பெண் குதிரையாகி.

கடைந்தேன் சூரியனின் உருவத்தை நான்;
தொடர்ந்தான் அவளை ஆண் குதிரையாகி!

அஸ்வினி தேவர்கள் ஜனித்தனர் காட்டில்.
அன்று கடைந்த பொடியில் செய்யப்பட்ட

சூலம் உள்ளது சிவபெருமான் கையில்;
மேலும் உள்ளவற்றை ஏற்க வேண்டும்”

அரிய பரிசுகளை ஏற்றார் கணேசன்;
பரிசுகள் நான்கும் நான்கு கரங்களில்!

செந்நாயாக மாறி வந்தான் விருகாசுரன்,
அங்குசம் அவனை மாய்த்து வீழ்த்தியது.

#39g. Baala Leelaa (7)

Viswakarmaa presented Ganesha with a parasu, a pasam, an ankusam and a lotus flower. Ganesha wondered what they were and why they were given to him. Viswakarmaa related the details about those gifts.

Viswakarmaa said, “I got my daughter Samugnai married to the Sun God. His intense heat was unbearable. So she left her shadow there and came back to me.

The Sun God came in search of her. She ran away from him once again. She changed herself into a mare and went to the forest.

I chiseled the Image of the Sun God. He changed into a male horse and followed his wife to the forest. They were blessed with the Aswini Kumaaraas there.

From the powder which was wasted during the chiseling I made a soolam, a parasu, a paasam, an ankusam and a lotus flower. Lord Siva has the soolam now. Here are the other articles made by me. Kindly accept these as my gifts.”

Ganesha received the four gifts with his four hands. He was very happy with those rare gifts. Vrugaasuran came there changed into a wild dog. Ganesha released his ankusam. It killed the asura on the spot.

தொடங்கியது கடுமையான போராட்டம்!
கோடரி, அம்பு, வில், கத்தி, சூலம் மேலும்

பட்டயம், சக்கரம், முசலம், கதைகளைப்
பயன் படுத்திப் போரிட்டனர் தேவ, அசுரர்.

கரிகளும், பரிகளும் வீழ்ந்தன களத்தில்.
வைரி சக்ஷூரன் எதிர்த்தான் இந்திரனை.

எய்தான் ஐந்து பாணங்களை சக்ஷூரன்;
எய்தான் சந்திர பாணத்தை இந்திரன்.

விழுந்தான் சக்ஷூரன் யானை மீது;
இழந்தது யானையும் துதிக்கையை!

மறைந்தது யானை சேனையின் நடுவில்;
விரைந்தான் பிடாலன் இந்திரனை நோக்கி!

பொழிந்தனர் சரமழையினை இருவரும்;
அழித்தான் இந்திரன் பிடாலன் யானையை.

பாய்ந்தான் பிடாலன் வேறு தேர் மீது,
எய்தான் ஜயந்தன் ஐந்து பாணங்கள்.

ரதத்தில் விழுந்தான் மூர்ச்சித்த பிடாலன்.
ரதத்தை ஓட்டினான் சாரதி களம் விடுத்து.

என்ன ஆகும் சேனாதிபதி இல்லாத சேனை?
சின்னா பின்னம் ஆனது சேனையின் அமைப்பு!

சிதறி ஓடினர் அசுர வீரர்கள் – போரில்
வெற்றி முழக்கம் செய்தனர் தேவர்கள்.

ஆடினர் அப்சரஸ், பாடினர் கந்தருவர்,
ஆசிகள் கூறிப் புகழ்ந்தனர் முனிவர்கள்.

தாமிரன் வந்தான் தலைமை தாங்கிட
தாமிரன் விழுந்தான் நீண்ட போரிட்டு.

பதறி ஓடினர் அசுர வீரர்கள் மீண்டும்!
சிதறி ஓடினர் அசுர வீரர்கள் மீண்டும்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

5#5b. Yuddham (2)

A terrible war ensued between the Deva and the asura. Parasus, bows and arrows, swords, maces, discuses and tridents were used by the warriors. Horses and elephants fell down killed.

Sakshooran fought with Indra. He shot five arrows on Indra. Indra shot the Chandra baaNam on Sakshooran. Sakshoorn fell faint on his elephant. The elephant’s trunk was severed by Indra’s Vajraayudam. It went and hid itself in the middle of the asura army.

Bidaalan was sent to replace Sakshooran by Mahishan. A rain of arrows were shot from both sides. After fighting for long, Bidaalan also fainted on his chariot. The charioteer drove it away to a safe place.

The army without a general started running hither and tither in utter confusion. The Deva blew the conch of victory. The apsaras danced and the gandharvas sang. The rushis blessed Indra and the other Devaas.

Now Taamran came to replace Bidaalan but he too fell faint after a long fight. Again the asura warriors ran in utter confusion in all directions.

4. இலங்கை வீழ்தல்.

இலங்கையிற் பாய்ந்தான் வீரவாகு!
இலங்கை கலங்கியது அச்செயலால்.

அதிவீரனும், அவுணரும் கலங்கிட
அமிழ்ந்தது கடலில் இலங்கை நகர்.

அவுணர்கள் கலங்கித் துன்புற்றபோது
அவர்களை வருத்தின கடல்மீன்களும்.

கயல்களோடு போர் செய்து கலங்கிச்
செயல் இழந்து வாடி வதங்கலாயினர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

3 # 4. The fall of Lanka.
Veerabaahu charged into lanka.
The city sank under his immense power.
Athiveeran and the asuras were shocked by the sinking city.
As if these troubles were not enough,
the fish also started troubling the asuras.
They tried to fight off the fish and
became very tired in the process.
