KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

2 ( # 28b). The disguised sage.

“The devotees of Vishnu living here hate the devotees of Siva. This must be set right.”

Agasthya decided to prove that all religions are one and the same and all gods are also one and the same

He dressed up like a Vishnu bhakta and went to the temple again. This time he was given a very warm welcome by the group of Vaishnavites.

He told them, “I am going from Azhagarmalai to Hasthi giri. I wish to worship the lord of this temple”

The Vaishnavites brought all the articles needed for the puja. Agasthya told them,” you may watch the puja!”

He then placed his hand on the vigraham of Vishnu. He contemplated on Siva and commanded the vigraham to change its shape. The Vishnu vigraham transformed itself into a Sivalingam!

He changed his disguise and became his original self. He worshiped Siva with great affection.

4n. சிந்தாமணி விநாயகர்

நினைத்தும் காட்சி தந்தார் கணபதி;
மனம் நிறைந்து வணங்கினார் கபிலர்.

“தந்து விட்டீர் சிந்தாமணியை மீட்டு!
இந்திரன் எனக்குத் தந்த மணி அது.

விந்தைகளைக் காண வந்த தேவர்
நொந்தனர் அதிகப் பசி, தாகத்தால்!

ஆற்றங்கரையில் தேவரை நிறுத்தி,
ஒற்றை ஆளாக வந்தான் இந்திரன்.

“வந்த நோக்கம் என்ன கூறு!” என
இந்திரன் பதில்,” உமது தரிசனம்”

உடன்பாடில்லை எனக்குச் சிறிதும்,
உண்ணாமல் அதிதிகள் திரும்புவது!

ஈசன் அருளால் உணவைப் பெற்றுப்
புசிக்கச் செய்தேன் வந்த தேவர்களை.

மனம் மகிழ்ந்தான் இந்திரன் – நான்
மனம் மகிழ அளித்தான் ஒரு பரிசு!

விஷ்ணு அளித்த சிந்தாமணியை,
இஷ்டத்துடன் அளித்தான் எனக்கு.

பேராசையால் கவர்ந்தான் அதைக் கணன்;
ஓராசை கொண்டுள்ளேன் இன்று நான்!

அணிய வேண்டும் இந்த மணியை நீங்கள்!
பணிய வேண்டும் சிந்தாமணியுடன் நாங்கள்."

மகிழ்வுடன் பெற்றுக் கொண்டார் மணியை.
திகழ்ந்தார் மணியினை மார்பில் அணிந்து!

வரங்கள் தந்தார் கணனின் குமாரர்களுக்கு;
வணங்கினர் அனைவரும் விக்கின ராஜரை.

கபிலரின் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு வந்ததால்
கபில விநாயகர் ஆனார் கணநாதன்

சிந்தாமணியினை அணித்து கொண்டதால்
சிந்தாமணி விநாயகர் ஆனார் கண நாதர்!

சுமுகர் என்ற அழகிய பெயர் வந்தது,
சிரித்த முகத்துடன் காட்சி தந்ததால்.

நாமங்கள் மூன்றையும் நாவாறக் கூறி
நானிலத்தில் பெறலாம் நன்மைகள் கோடி

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#34n. ChintaamaNi Vinayakar

Vinayaka appeared when sage Kapilar concentrated on him. Kapilar was overwhelmed with happiness at the sight of his lord. “Oh lord! You have returned my ChintaamaNi to me as you had promised. It was Indra’s rare gift to me.

Once the Deva had come to earth to see the wonders on earth. They became very hungry and thirsty. Indra made all the Deva wait near the river and came to my ashram. He said he had come only for my dharshan.

I could not allow my guests to back hungry and thirsty. So I prayed to lord Siva and got the food fit for the Deva. Indra became very happy and gave a wonderful gift to make me very happy.

It was the ChintaamaNi which he had received from lord Vishnu. GaNan took it away by force. But now it is back with me. I have only one wish. I want you to wear his gem on your chest. We all wish to worship you as ChintaamaNi Vinayakar."

Vinayaka became very happy. He took the rare gem from the sage and wore it on his chest. He was worshiped as ChintaamaNi Vinayakar by all the people there. He blessed everyone. He gave boons to the two sons of GaNan - Sulaban and SoolapaaNi.

Since Vinayaka came to the ashram of Kapilar, he is also known by the name Kapila Vinayakar. Since he came with a smiling face, he is also known as Sumukhan.

Anyone who worships Vinayaka by these three names will be blessed in this world and the next.

4#19c. கம்சனின் அச்சம்

ரதத்தில் தம்பதிகளை அமர்த்திய கம்சன்;
அதிர்ந்தான் ஒலித்த அசரீரியைக் கேட்டு.

“கம்சனே உன்னைக் கொல்பவன் – இவள்
கருவில் பிறப்பான் எட்டாவது சிசுவாக!”

மரணத்தைத் தவிர்க்க உள்ள ஒரே வழி
மரணம் தரப் போகும் சிசுவை அழிப்பது!

தங்கையைக் கொல்லவும் விரும்பவில்லை;
தன் பகைவனை விடவும் விரும்பவில்லை.

உயிர் ஆசை வென்றது தர்ம சிந்தனையை!
மயிரைப் பிடித்திழுத்தான் மணப்பெண்ணை!

வாளால் வெட்டிக் கொல்ல முயன்றவனைத்
தாளாமல் தடுத்தனர் அங்கு இருந்த மக்கள்.

“சஹோதரியைக் கொல்லப் போகின்றாயா?
ஸ்திரீஹத்தி மகாபாவம் என அறியாயோ?

முடிந்துவிட வேண்டுமா அவள் வாழ்க்கை
கடிமணம் புரிந்த சில நாழிகைப் பொழுதில்?

ஆராயவில்லை மெய்யான அசரீரியா என்று!
தோராயமாகச் செயல் புரிவது துன்பம் தரும்.

பகைவர் தந்திரமாக இருந்தால் – அவர்கள்
நகைப்பர் உன் இழிசெயல்களைக் கண்டு.

கெடுக்க நினைத்திருக்கலாம் உன் புகழை;
ஒடுக்க நினைத்திருக்கலாம் ஒரு வம்சத்தை.

கண் காணாமல் ஒலித்த ஓசையை நம்பி
கல்யாணப் பெண்ணை அழித்து விடாதே!

நடப்பது நடந்தே தீரும் – அவற்றைத்
தடுப்பது என்பது எவராலும் முடியாது!”

4#19c. Kamsan’s fear

Kamsan wanted to honor the newly weds. He himself became their charioteer. An asareeri was heard by all the people there. “Oh Kamsa! The eighth child born to Devaki will kill you!”

Kamsan thought to himself, “The only way to stop this from happening is to make sure that such a baby would never be born!”

KaMsan did not want to kill his cousin sister. At the same time he did not want to be killed by her eighth child. So he stopped the chariot and pulled down Devaki from it by her hair.

He wanted to behead her then and there.The crowd gathered there would not let this happen. They all stopped Kamsan from this atrocious act.

“Oh! Kamsa! Are you going to kill your own cousin sister? Don’t you know that killing a woman is a great sin? Should she die even before her wedded life has started? You never verified whether it was really an asareeri or the trick played by mischief monger.

If it had been a trick by a human, he would laugh at what you are going to do now – believing it to be true. May be someone wants to tarnish your name and fame.

Or maybe someone wants to put an end to the race of Vasudev. By believing a dubious voice do not kill you own cousin sister!”

28c. மால் சிவன் ஆனார்.

நீண்ட நெடிய திருமால் விக்ரகம்
யாண்டும் காண இயலாத மாயத்தால்

அனலிட்ட மெழுகாக உருகிக் குறுகி
அமைந்தது அழகிய சிவலிங்கமாக!

அதிசயச் செயலைக்கண்ட பின்னரும்,
விதி வசத்தால் மதி இழந்த வைணவர்கள்,

“சிவக் கோலத்துடன் வந்த தவ முனிவன்
இவனேதான் ஐயமில்லை! பிடியுங்கள்!

மாறுவேடம் பூண்டு வந்தது மட்டுமின்றித்
தாறுமாறு ஆக்கிவிட்டான் நம் மூர்த்தியை!”

அத்தனை பேரும் கூடி ஓடி வந்தனர்,
அத்தனின் பக்தனை நன்கு புடைப்பதற்கு.

எரி எழப் பார்த்தார் குறுமுனி அங்கு.
எரி துரத்தலாயிற்று நெருங்கியவர்களை!

சினத் தீயின் சுவாலையைத் தாங்காமல்
சிதறி ஓடிவிட்டனர் திசை தோறும் – அப்

பதி மாறிவிட்டது ஒரு சிவப்பதியாக!
பொதிய மலை சென்றார் தவமுனிவர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 (# 28c). Vishnu gets transformed to Siva.

The tall vigraham of Vishnu melted like wax shown in a flame and changed its shape into a Sivalingam.

The onlookers were wonder struck by this rare sight. But the Vaishnavites got mad and shouted,

“It is the same fellow who had come earlier as a Siva bhakta. He has come again in disguise and ruined our Lord’s vigraham! Catch hold of him!”

They came charging at the sage. He stared at them with anger in his eyes. The fire of his anger started chasing the people gathered to beat him.

They ran in every direction and disappeared. Then the place became a Siva sthalam. Agasthya now set out to Pothigai giri.

5a. சிந்தூரன்

பிரமன் விட்ட பெரிய கொட்டாவியிலிருந்து,
பிரமிக்க வைக்கும் அரக்கன் தோன்றினான்.

ரத்த மழை பெய்தது அவன் தோன்றியபோது!
மொத்த உயிர் இனங்களும் அஞ்சி நடுங்கின!

கண்ணைக் கவர்ந்தது அவன் சிந்தூர நிறம்!
கருத்தைக் கவர்ந்தது அவன் வீசிய மணம்!

“யார் நீ?” என்று கேட்டான் பிரம்ம தேவன்;
“பார் அறியும் உம் மகன் என்று!” என்றான்.

பிரமனுக்குப் பொங்கியது தந்தைப் பாசம்;
அரக்கனுக்குப் பெயரிட்டான் சிந்தூரன் என.

மூவுலகையும் வெல்ல வலிமை தந்தான்;
தேவர்களால் அழிவின்மையும் தந்தான்.

அரிய வரம் ஒன்றும் தந்தான் அன்புடன்;
அரக்கன் தழுவியவர் ஆவார் பஸ்பமாக!

பூவுலகம் வந்து சேர்ந்தான் சிந்தூரன்;
புதிய ஐயம் வந்து உதித்தது மனதில்.

“நான் கடும் தவமும் செய்யவில்லை;
நான் அரும் வரங்கள் கேட்கவில்லை

தானாகத் தந்தார் வரங்களை பிரமன்;
நானாகச் சென்று சோதிப்பேன் இன்று!”

கேட்காமலேயே வந்து குவிந்தன வரங்கள்!
வேட்கை உண்டானது அவற்றைச் சோதிக்க!

தந்தையைத் தழுவ முயன்றான் தனயன்;
தந்தவரிடமே வரங்களைச் சோதிப்பதா?

“அவசரப்பட்டு வரங்கள் தந்தேன் நான்;
தேவர்களிடம் அழிவின்மை தந்தேன்!

விநாயகமூர்த்தி அவதரிப்பார் உலகில்
வீணன் உன்னை அழிப்பதற்கு!” என்றார்.

ஓடினார் வழக்கம்போல விஷ்ணுவிடம்;
ஓதினார் நடந்தவற்றை எல்லாம் அங்கு!

#35a. Sindhooran

One day Brahma yawned heavily and an asuran was born out of the yawn. He was awesome and awe inspiring. When he was born it rained blood. All the living things got terrified for no known reason.

He was sindhoor colored and he emanated a rich pleasant aroma all around him. Brahma asked him,”Who are you?” He replied,” The whole world knows that I am your son”

Brahma’s love for his newest son was kindled. He named the asuran as Sindhooran. He gave him the power to conquer the three worlds and made him invincible by the Deva. He gave one more rare boon to Sindhooran. Whosoever Sindhooran hugged tightly, would turn into ash.

Sindhooran went to the earth. He got a new doubt now. “I did not do any hard penance. In fact I did now even ask for any boons. But they were showered on me by Brahma. I wonder whether these boons will really work! I must est them now. Who else but the bestower of the boons will suit best for the testing!”

He returned to Brahma and tried to embrace him tightly. Brahma got terrified by the ungrateful son who tested this destructive boon on the giver of the boon himself.

he spoke in haste as he ran to save himself and said, “I am sorry I bestowed all those rare boons on you. You will not be conquered by the Deva. But Vinayaka will be born to put an end to you”

He ran for his life and went to Vaikuntam. He told all the happenings to Vishnu in great detail.

4#19d. வாக்குறுதி

இத்தனை அறிவுரைகளைக் கேட்ட பின்பும்
பித்தனைப் போல வெறியுடன் இருந்தான்.

வசுதேவன் செய்தான் சத்தியப் பிரமாணம்!
வசமிழந்து நின்றனர் வாக்குறுதி கேட்டவர்!

“சத்தியமே ஆகும் ஆதாரம் அனைத்துக்கும்;
சத்தியத்தை ஆக்குகிறேன் ஆதாரமாக நான்.

பிறக்கப் போகும் குழந்தைகளைத் தருவேன்
பிறந்தவுடனேயே எடுத்து வந்து உன்னிடம்.

சத்தியத்தை நான் மீறினால் என் பித்ருக்கள்
அத்தியந்தத் துன்பம் அடையட்டும் நரகத்தில்!”

சத்தியம் செய்தான் வசுதேவன் கம்சனிடம்.
இத்தனை காலமும் வாக்குத் தவறாதவன்;

"பிள்ளைகள் தான் உனக்குப் பகைவர்கள் ;
பிள்ளைகளின் பெற்றோர் அல்ல கம்சனே!

பெண் கொலை செய்ய வேண்டாம் கம்சா”
மீண்டும் வற்புறுத்தினர் பெரிய மனிதர்கள்.

கோபத்தை ஒழித்தான் கம்சன் இது கேட்டு.
பாவத்தைத் தவிர்த்தான் அறிவுரைகளால்.

மங்கள வாத்தியங்கள் முழங்கின மீண்டும்.
தங்கள் இல்லம் சேர்ந்தனர் மணமக்கள்.

4#19d. The Promise

Kamsan was mad with anger even after listening to these words of wisdom. Vasudevan stepped forward and made a promise which left everyone aghast.

“Satyam is the foundation of everything. I make satyam the foundation of my words. I will hand over to you all my children as soon as they are born Oh Kamsa! If I fail in this promise, may my ancestors suffer in hell endlessly”

The other older people joined in advising Kamsan now. “Vasudevan has never broken a promise nor uttered lies. Only the children to be born will be your enemies. The newly married couple are not your enemies Kamsa! Let there be no bloodshed here please!”

Kamsan listened to the good advice. His temper cooled down. The auspicious musical instruments resumed playing and the newly weds reached their home safely.

29. சிவ வழிபாடு.

காகம் கவிழ்த்த கமண்டலத்தின் நீர்
காவிரி ஆறாகப் அங்கு பாயலுற்றது.

பெருகியும், பொங்கியும், சுழித்தும் ஓடி
அருமையான சீகாழியை அடைந்தது.

மழை நீருக்குத் தவித்த அந்த நந்தவனம்
தழைத்தது மீண்டும் காவிரி நதி நீரினால்.

வளர்ந்தன செழித்து பூச்செடிகொடிகள்;
அளித்தன பலவித நறுமண மலர்கள்.

அண்ணலின் அடிகளை அமரர்கோன்
எண்ணியும், புகழ்ந்தும் போற்றினான்.

நறுமலர்களைக் கொய்து நாடோறும்
முறைப்படித் தொழுதான் இறைவனை.

2 (# 29). The worship of Siva.

The kamandalam was toppled by the crow who was in reality Lord Ganesh himself.
The water contained in it started flowing as the river Kaveri. It soon reached Cheekaazhi.

Indra’s garden which had withered due to the failing rains, was nourished by this river water. It flourished back to its original glory.

All the plants and creepers grew back and bore loads of fragrant flowers. Indra was very happy.

He gathered the fresh and fragrant flowers and performed Siva puja as before.

5b. சிந்தூரன்

“உன்னிடம் தோன்றியதால் இப்படி
முன்பின் சிந்தியாமல் வரங்களா?

துன்பம் விளையும் நமக்கே எப்போதும்;
இன்னும் இந்த உண்மை புரியவில்லை?”

பிரமனைத் துரத்தி வந்தான் சிந்தூரன்;
பிரமனுடன் கண்டான் வைகுந்தனை!

“என்னுடன் யுத்தம் புரிய வருவீர்
அன்றேல் இன்று சாம்பல் ஆவீர்!”

“போர் சாஸ்திரத்தை அறியாயோ நீ?
போர் புரிவர் சம பலம் உள்ளவர்கள்.

ஆலிலை மேல் சயனித்துள்ளேன் நான்!
அமர்ந்துள்ளான் தாமரை மேல் பிரமன்!

மென்மையான எங்களை வெல்வதால்
மேன்மை என்ன கிடைக்கும் நீயே கூறு!

வலிமை மிக்க கைலாசநாதரிடம் சென்று
வெளிப்படுத்து உன் யுத்த ஆற்றலை!” என

கைலாசம் சென்று சேர்ந்தான் சிந்தூரன்;
கைலாச நாதரோ யோக நிஷ்டையில்!

சிதறி ஓடி ஒளிந்தனர் தேவர்கள்;
பதறி ஓடினாள் பார்வதி தேவியும்.

தேவியின் அழகில் மயங்கிய அரக்கன்,
தேவியைக் கொண்டு செல்ல எண்ணிட;

சிவன் எழுந்தார் நிஷ்டை கலைந்து
சூலம் ஏந்திய ருத்திர மூர்த்தியாக!

சிவனை அணைத்துப் பஸ்பம் ஆக்க
சினத்துடன் ஓடி வந்தான் சிந்தூரன்!

#35b. Sindhoorn

Vishnu was very displeased with Brahma. “You gave him all these boons just because he appeared from your yawn? It is always the Deva who suffer whenever the asura become very powerful. When will you ever learn this truth?”

Sindhooran came there chasing Brahma. He was happy to see Vishnu along with Brahma. He roared to them, “Come and fight with me! Otherwise I will turn you both into ash!”

Vishnu kept his cool and told him, “Don’t you know the rules of war? Fighting is done by people of equal strength. I sleep on a leaf and Brahma sits on a lotus flower. We are soft natured . What is so great in defeating us? If you can defeat Siva that will add to your glory and fame”

Sindhooran went straight to Kailaasam. Lord Siva was in Yoga nishtai. The Deva ran in all directions, frightened by the sight of this unusual asuran.

Parvati Devi also got scared and ran away, but not before the asuran had seen her beauty and fell in love with her. He went near her with an idea of abducting her.

Siva came out of his yoga nishtai. He rose angrily like Rudra moorthy with his soolam in his hand. Sindhooran now saw Lord Siva and went running to him – wishing to turn him into ash by embracing him hard.

4#20a. எட்டாவது குழந்தை

தேவகி மலர்ந்து அடைந்தாள் யௌவனம்;
தேவதை போலக் குலுங்கினாள் வனப்புடன்

துய்த்தனர் இல்லற இன்பம் தம்பதியினர்;
வாய்த்தது ஆண் மகவு தேவகி கருவில்.

பிறந்தது அழகிய மகவு உரிய காலத்தில்,
“துறந்து விடுவோம் இவன் மேல் பற்றை.

வாக்களித்தேன் கம்சனுக்கு அன்று – அதனால்
தூக்கியளிக்க வேண்டும் குழந்தையை இன்று.

ஒப்படைக்க வேண்டும் குழந்தையைக் கம்சனிடம்
தப்பக் கூடாது நான் அளித்த வாக்குறுதியிலிருந்து!”

தேவகியின் மனம் ஒப்பவில்லை இதற்கு – வசு
தேவனிடம் கூறினாள் மனவேதனை தாளாமல்.

“பரிஹாரம் செய்து அழித்து விடலாம் – வரும்
பாவங்களை நம் வாக்குறுதியை மீறுவதனால்!

உண்டு பரிஹாரங்கள் பஞ்சமாபாதகங்களுக்கு ;
வேண்டாம் கம்சனிடம் சிசுவை ஒப்படைத்திட.

காப்பாற்றுவோம் நம்மிடம் உதித்த மகனை
காப்பற்ற வேண்டாம் நீர் அளித்த வாக்கினை!”.

“முயற்சி செய்வோம் குழந்தையைக் காக்க!
முயற்சி வெல்லும் தெய்வ அனுகூலத்தால்!

ஆன்மாவின் கர்மங்கள் மூவகைப்படும்,
ஆகாமியம், சஞ்சிதம், பிராரப்தம் என்பன.

அனுபவங்களுக்குக் காரணம் ஆம் சஞ்சிதம்
அனுபவிப்பவைகள் பிராரப்தம் எனப்படும்

இரண்டுக்கும் இடமாகவும், பெரிதாகவும்
இருப்பதே ஆகாமியம் என்று அறிவாய் நீ!”

4#20a. The eighth child

Devaki had bloomed into womanhood and was as pretty as a divine damsel. The couple Devaki and Vasudev enjoyed the pleasures of marital life and Devaki became pregnant with her first child. The baby boy was born in due course.

Vasudev told Devaki,”We must not place our affection on this child. I will have to hand him over to Kamsan as per my promise. A promise is a promise. I should not break it”

But Devaki’s mind would allow her to part from her son. She told Vasudev, “If we go back on our promise, we may incur sin. But there is a parihaaram for every sin including the five greatest sins known to man. We will save our dear son rather saving our promise made to Kamsan long ago!”

Vasudev told Devaki,”There is no harm in trying to save this child. Who knows he may be still saved by the divine grace of God. The karma of a jeevaa is of three types the Kriyamaana, the Prarabda and the Sanchita.

Sanchitam causes the experiences in a janma. The experiences themselves are the praarabdam.The one which is larger and holds these two is the Aagaamiyam or Kriyamaana.

Everything that we have ever thought, spoken, done or caused is karma, as is also that which we think, speak or do this very moment.

Hindu scriptures divide karma into three kinds viz Sanchita, Prarabda and Kriyamaana

Sanchita is the accumulated karma. It would be impossible to experience and endure all karmas in one life time. From this stock of sanchita karma, a handful is taken out to serve one lifetime.

This handful of actions, which have begun to bear fruit, and which will be exhausted only on their fruit being enjoyed and not otherwise, is known as prarabdha karma.

Prarabdha Fruit-bearing karma is the portion of accumulated karma that has “ripened” and appears as a particular problem in the present life.

Kriyamana is everything that we produce in the current life. All kriyamana karmas flow in to sanchita karma and consequently shape our future.

Only in human life we can change our future destiny. After death we lose Kriya Shakti (ability to act) and HAVE TO WAIT until we are born again in another human body.

30. “கயிலை செல்வோம்!”

சீகாழியில் தங்கி இருந்த தேவேந்திரனைச்
சீர் குலைந்த தேவர்கள் வந்து சந்தித்தனர்.

சூரபத்மனின் ஏவல்களைப் புரிந்து வந்ததால்
வீரப் பிரதாபம் குறைந்து மெலிந்திருந்தனர்.

“குற்றேவல் செய்து பெருமை குலைந்தோம்!
கற்றமறைகளை யாம் முற்றிலும் மறந்தோம்!

எம்மைக் கைவிட்டுவிட்டு நீர் மட்டும்
செம்மையாக வாழ்வது தகுமா? தருமமா?”

“செயற்கரிய வேள்வியினை சூரபத்மன்
செய்தபோதே நம் துன்பம் தொடங்கியது!

அடைக்க விழைகிறான் என்னைச் சிறையில்!
அடைய விழைகிறான் என் மனையாளை!

நம் துன்பம் ஒழிய ஒரே புகல் இனிமேல்
நாம் தொழும் தேவதேவன் மஹாதேவனே!

தரிசிப்போம் திருக்கயிலை சென்று பிரானை,
விவரிப்போம் நாம் படும் இன்னல்களை!”

“எங்கள் தாயும், மற்றும் தந்தையும் நீரே!
எங்கள் தெய்வமும், செல்வமும் நீரே!

தாங்கள் இருக்கையில் ஏது குறை எமக்கு?
திங்கள் பிரானைக் காணச் செல்வோம்!”

இந்திரன் சம்மதித்தான் கயிலை செல்ல.
இந்திராணியிடம் விடைபெறச் சென்றான்.

2 (# 30). Devas and Indra.

When Indra was residing in Seekaazhi, the devas came down to meet him. They were serving Soorapadman by performing various odd jobs. They had lost their self respect and honor and were feeling wretched.

They spoke to Indra,” We forgot all our Vedas. We spend our time serving Soorapadman by doing odd jobs. You have forsaken us and you are living here in peace”

Indra replied,”When Soorapadman started performing his difficult yagna, our bad time had started along with it. He wanted to imprisons me and marry Indrani. So we had go into hiding. There is only one person who can save us now. Let us go to Siva in Kailash and tell him of our sufferings.”

The devas spoke in unison. “You are our mother, you are our father, you are our god and you are everything we possess. Let us go and meet Siva”

Indra agreed to this plan. He went to take leave of his queen Indrani.

5c. யுத்தம்


அந்தணன் வடிவெடுத்தான் ஆனைமுகன்;
வந்தவனை விலக்கினான் சிவனிடமிருந்து.

“அஸ்திரங்களால் போரிடாமல் நேரிடயாகக்
குஸ்தி செய்வதாகத் தீர்மானமா?” என்றான்!

அஸ்திரப் பிரயோகம் தொடங்கி விட்டது!
அஸ்திரங்கள் பறந்தன எதிர்த் திசைகளில்

பரசுவை நட்டிருந்தான் இருவர் மத்தியில்!
பரசு தடுத்தது சிந்தூரனின் முன்னேற்றத்தை.

“வெல்லமுடியுமா உன்னால் காலகாலரை?
செல்வாய் எனில் உயிர் பிழைப்பாய்!” என,

வெற்றி தோல்வி இல்லாத வெற்றுப் போரால்,
வெறுப்படைந்த சிந்தூரன் திரும்பிவிட்டான்.

அந்தணன் யாரென்று அறியவில்லை உமை;
அந்தண வேடத்தை விடுத்தார் விநாயகர்.

சிங்க வாஹனத்தில் சதுர் புஜங்களுடன்,
சித்தி புத்தி தேவியருடன் காட்சி தந்தார்.

“உம்மைப் பிடிக்க வந்தான் சிந்தூரன்.
உம்மிடம் பிறந்து அவனை அழிப்பேன்”

அன்னையிடம் அளித்தான் உறுதிமொழி.
ஆனைமுகன் மறைதருளும் முன்னர்.

பூவுலகத்தில் நடந்தது சிந்தூரன் ஆட்சி.
யாவரும் அஞ்சி நடுங்கினர் அவனிடம்.

சிந்தூரனிடம் துயருற்ற தேவர்கள் குழூ
ஐங்கரனைப் பணிந்தனர் அபயம் என்று.

சிந்தூரனை அழித்து அபயம் தருவதற்கு
ஐங்கரன் அடைந்தான் தேவியின் கருவை.

பரியலி வனத்தில் குளிர்ந்த சோலையில்
பரிமளித்தது ஒரு இரத்தின மண்டபம்

தோழியருடன் தங்கினாள் மண்டபத்தில்
அழகிய பரியலி வனத்தில் பார்வதிதேவி.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#35c. The war

Vinayaka transformed himself into a Brahmin. He separated Sindhooran from lord Siva. “You may fight with your weapons instead of this fist fight!” He told both of them and planted his parasu in between them.

Arrows went flying in the opposite directions. Sindoorans’ advance was checked by the parasu. The fight went for a long time with neither of them winning nor losing.

The brahmin told Sindhooran, “You can never defeat Siva the Kaala kaalan. If you go back home, you may stay alive a little longer” Sindhooran got tired of this mock fight and went back.

No one knew who that Brahmin was. Vinayaka revealed himself and gave dharshan to Siva and Parvthi on his lion vaahanam, with his two devis. He told Parvathi, “Sindhooran wanted to abduct you. I will be born to you to kill him”

Sindhooran ruled highhandedly. He troubled everyone, the Deva, the manava and the asura. The Deva prayed to Vinayaka for Abhayam. Vinayaka reached the garbbam of Parvathi Devi.

A gem studded mandapam was built in the Pariyali Vanam, in a cool garden, for the sake of Parvathi Devi. She lived there happily with her friends and attendants.
