VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

#32a. Agasthya

Soorapadman ruled over all the one thousand and eight universes after getting boons from Siva. Indra and Sasi Devi fled from Swargga to avoid being arrested by Soorapadman. They lived on the earth secretly since Sooran’s spies were on the look out for them everywhere.

Indra and Sasi Devi prayed to lord Siva to deliver them from all their miseries. They had a nandavanam full of flower plants and creepers. The flowers were used to worship Siva.

Soorapadman ordered all the clouds to stop raining. The plants and creepers withered without water. Indra and Sasi Devi could not do aaraadhanaa the way they had been doing.

Narada came down to meet Indra. Indra asked Narada to find a solution to the problem faced by his nandavanam.

Narada told him, ‘Agasytha rushi is on his way to Podhigai mountain. He has river Kaveri inside his kamandalam. If Kaveri can be feed from the kamandalam, she will flow freely here and the land will become fertile once again. Only Vigneswara can make it possible. You pray to him and seek his help in this matter.”

4#13b. அசுரர் வசை

“தவம் செய்து மந்திரங்கள் பெற்றவர் இவர்,
நலம் கருதி போதிக்கிறார் பத்தாண்டுகளாக!

உண்மை குரு இவரன்றி நீரல்ல – அதனால்
உண்மையைக் கூறி உடனே சென்றுவிடும்!”

எத்தனை கூறினாலும் நம்பவில்லை அசுரர்.
அத்தனையும் சினமாக மாறியது சுக்கிரனிடம்.

“ஏளனம் செய்து அவமதித்தீர்கள் என்னை!
ஏற்ற தண்டனை அடைவீர்கள் விரைவில்!

தேவாசுர யுத்தத்தில் அறிவற்ற அசுரர்களே!
தோல்வியுற்றுத் துவளுவீர் நிச்சயமாக !

விளையும் என் சாபம் வெகுவிரைவில் போரில் !
வெளியாகும் வஞ்சனையும், கபடமும் அப்போது!”

வந்த வேலை முடிந்தது எளிதாக என்று
இந்திரனிடம் திரும்பினான் பிருஹஸ்பதி.

“தருணம் இதுவே அறிவாய் இந்திரா! தம்
குருவின் சாபம் பெற்றுள்ளார்கள் அசுரர்.

சுக்கிரன் உதவி இல்லாத போது – அசுரரை
மிக எளிதாக வென்று விடலாம் போரில்!”

படை எடுத்தான் இந்திரன் அசுரர்கள் மீது!
அடைந்தனர் கிலேசம் குருவின்றி அசுரர்!

‘மறைந்து உறைகின்றார் நம் அருமை குரு;
குறைவற்ற குருவைச் செய்தோம் ஏளனம்!

மந்திர சித்தி பெறுவது எப்படி – நம்முடைய
சொந்த குருவிடம் சென்று சேர்வது எப்படி?’

4#13b. Sukran’s Curse

The Asuraas made fun of the new comer. “This man is our real guru. He did severe penance for our sake and obtained special mantraas from Lord Siva. He has been teaching us for the past ten years. You are the imposter Tell us the truth and get lost from here!”

Sukran tried his best to convince the confused Asuraas but in vain. He became terribly angry with the foolish Asuraas. He cursed them harshly,

” You make fun of me. You don’t trust me. You will be punished for this during the imminnent war with the Devaas. You will be crushed by the Devaa. You will realize who spoke the truth very soon”

He disappeared from there. Bruhaspati was happy with the turn of the events. He has successfully completed his mission and he too disappeared and went back to Indra. The asurass were shocked that both the gurus had vanished into thin air.

Bruhaspati told Indra, “This is the right time to crush the Asuraas once for all. They don’t have the guidance or protection of their guru Sukran. Also they have been cursed harshly by Sukran.”

Indra got ready to wage a war with the Asuraas. The Asuraas were crestfallen even before the war – not knowing how to get their guru back and use the mantras obtained by him for their sake.

19a. பானுகோபன்.

சூரபத்மன் மனைவி பதுமகோமளை – ஒரு
வீர மகனை ஈன்று புறம் தந்தாள்.

சுற்றத்தினருக்குச் சிறப்புகள் பல செய்து,
பெற்ற மகனைக் கொண்டாடினான் அவன்.

தொட்டிலில் உறங்கிய வீரமகனைத்
தொட்டுவிட்டன கதிரவன் கதிர்கள்!

சினந்த குழந்தை சீறிப் பாய்ந்தது,
வினதையின் மகன் போல விண்ணில்!

கதிரவனைக் கையால் பற்றிக் கொணர்ந்து
கட்டிப் போட்டது தொட்டில் காலில்!

கதிரவன் இல்லாத உலகின் இயக்கம்
கதி கலங்கி போய்த் தடுமாறிவிட்டது.

இந்திராதி தேவர்கள் வந்து கெஞ்சினார்கள்
“சொந்த மகன் கதிரவனை விடுவிக்க வேண்டும்!”

“ஞாயிறு சிறைப்பட்ட செய்தி அறியேன்!
ஞாயிறு இழைத்த பிழைகளைக் கூறுங்கள்!”

நடந்தவற்றை நவின்றனர் நாணத்துடன்
நான்முகன், தேவர்கள் சூரபத்மனுக்கு.

“இனிய மொழி பேசி அவனை மகிழ்வித்து
இனிக் கதிரவனை விடுதலை செய்யுங்கள்!”

கதிரவன் படைக்கலம் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு
கதிரவன் தளைகளைத் தளர்த்தினான் மகன்.

மோகப் படையினையும் அளித்தார் நான்முகன்.
கோபப்பட்ட மகன் பெயர் ஆயிற்று பானுகோபன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 (# 19a). BHAANU KOBAN.

Padumakomalai, Soorapadman’s wife, gave birth to a valorous son in due course. Soorapadman celebrated the arrival of a worthy son in a befitting manner.

One day while the baby was sleeping in his cradle, the rays of the Sun fell on him. Enraged by this, the child leaped into the sky, caught hold of the Sun and tied him up to one of the legs of his cradle.

With the Sun gone, the life on earth was completely thrown out of gear. The devas and gods went to Soorapadman and prayed for the release of the Sun.

Soorapadman told them to talk sweet words to his son and secure the release of his prisoner – the Sun. The child took away the Sun God’s asthram and released his bondage. Brahma presented the child with his Moha Asthram.

Since the baby got angry with the Bhanu the Sun, he was named Bhaanu Koban.

2b. காவேரி நதி

இந்திரன் செய்தான் அரும் தவம் – அவன்
முந்தித் தோன்றினார் விக்கின விநாயகர்.

“பிரானைப் பூஜிக்க வளர்த்தேன் நந்தவனம்;
பெறாது நீரை வாடி நிற்கின்றது நந்தவனம்!

குறுமுனி கமண்டலத்தில் உள்ளது காவேரி
அருள் கூர்ந்து பாயச் செய்யும் அந்நதியை!”

மனம் கனிந்தது விக்கின விநாயகருக்கு.
கணத்தில் பறந்து சென்றார் காகவடிவில்!

அகத்தியர் அருகில் இருந்தது கமண்டலம்;
அகத்தில் அடங்கியிருந்தது காவேரி நதி.

பறந்த காகம் சென்று அமர்ந்து கொண்டது;
சிறந்த நீர் நிரம்பிய அந்தக் கமண்டலத்தில்.

புனிதநீரை மாசு படுத்தி விடுமோ?” என்று
முனிவர் விரட்டினார் மாயக் காக்கையை.

பறந்து சென்று விட்டது காகம் எனினும்
பறக்கும் முன் கவிழ்த்தது கமண்டலத்தை.

விடுதலை பெற்ற காவேரி மகிழ்வோடு
தொடங்கியது ஓடுவதற்கு வெள்ளமாக!

காணவில்லை அக் காகத்தை இப்போது!
கண்டார் அந்தணச் சிறுவன் ஒருவனை!

துரத்தித் துரத்தி ஓடிப் பிடித்து அவன்
சிரத்தில் வைக்க விரும்பினார் குட்டு.

ஓட்டம் ஓடினான், ஆட்டம் கட்டினான்;
மாட்டவில்லை சிறுவன் முனிவரிடம்!

இளைத்துக் களைத்து நின்றார் முனிவர்.
வளைந்த துதிக்கை ஐயனைக் கண்டார்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#32b. River Kaveri

Indra did penance towards Vinayaka and the lord appeared in front of him. “I did pooja to Lord Siva with flowers from my own garden. Soorapadman has stopped the rainfall. Now the garden is withering without water. Agasthya rushi has river Kaveri stored in his kamandalam. Kindly make it flow here as a river ”

Vinayaka took pity of Indra. He transformed himself into a crow and flew away to Agasthya immediately. The crow saw tha kamandalam near sage Agasthya. It went and sat on it. Sage Agasthya was worried that the crow might defile the holy river water. He drove away the crow. It flew off but managed to topple the kamandalam before it took off.

River Kaveri was happy to be released from the small vessel and started flowing happily as a big river. Agasthya was upset. He wanted to punish the crow. But now the crow was nowhere to be seen. He saw a brahmin boy where the crow was seen.

He chased the boy and wanted to plant a real hard rap on his head. But the boy was good in running. He would appear to be very near and then very far away. He made the rishi run all over the place chasing him in vain. The sage grew very tired and stood there out of breath.

The boy also disappeared and now Vinayaka stood before sage Agasthya.

4#13c. பிரஹலாதன் (1)

உத்தமன் பிரஹலாதனின் உதவியை நாடினர்;
எத்தனை நம்பி மோசம் போனதைக் கூறினர்.

அத்தனை பேரும் சென்றனர் குரு சுக்கிரனிடம்;
எத்தனை சொன்னாலும் தணியவில்லை சினம்!

பணிந்தான் பிரஹலாதன் குருவின் பாதங்களை,
பணிவோடு விண்ணப்பித்தான் கோரிக்கையினை.

“புத்திரர்கள் ஆவோம் யாம் உமக்கு ஐயா !
புத்தி பேதலித்தோம் கபடம் அறியாமல்.

மந்திர உபதேசம் பெற நீர் சென்ற போது
இந்திரன் செய்த வஞ்சனையின் பயனால்.

இனம் காண முடியவில்லை உண்மை குருவை!
இனம் காண முடியில்லை வேடதாரி குருவை!

தீர்க்க திருஷ்டி பெற்றவர் நீர் குல குருவே
தீர்மானிப்பீர் இதில் எம் தவறு என்ன வென்று.

ஞான திருஷ்டி வாய்ந்தவர் நீரே – இந்த
ஞான ஹீனர்களை மன்னியுங்கள் ஐயா!

தராதீர் சாபம்; கொள்ளாதீர் கோபம் – உண்மை
ஆராய்வீர் உம்மை யாம் அடி பணிகின்றோம்.

தணிந்து விடும் பெரியோர் சினம் விரைவில்;
இனித்து விடும் குளிர்ந்த நீர் போல் விரையில்;

வெப்பத்தால் சூடு ஏறும் குளிர்ந்த நீரில்
வெப்பம் தணிந்ததும் குளிர்ந்துவிடும் நீர்.

சினம் தணிந்து அருள் செய்ய வேண்டும்;
சீடர்கள் எமக்கு உம்மையன்றி யாருளர்?”

4#13c. Prahlaad

The Asuraas sought the help of their good-natured king Prahlaad. They explained to him their problem in detail. Then they all went to their guru Sukran. No amount of explanation could convince their angry guru or pacify him.

Prahlaad prostrated in front of Sukran and said in a voice filled with deep reverence,”We are your foolish children oh Guru!

We got deluded since we were innocent as well as ignorant.

It was due to the dirty trick played by the cunning Indra – when you had gone away to obtain mantra siddhi from Lord Siva. We could not identify the false impersonator. We could not recognize you as our real guru.

You have the power of Divya drushti and you can see the past, the present and the future. Please see for yourself what had happened and say whether it is due to our fault.

We are foolish common peple.You must pardon our offense. The anger of a good man is like the hot water. When the anger subsides, he cools down fast. Please subdue your anger. We have no one to help us other than you!”

19b. பிற மகன்கள்.

சூரபத்மனின் மனைவியர் ஈன்றனர்
வீரமகன்கள் மேலும் பற்பலரை.

பானுகோபனுக்குப் பல இளவல்கள்;
அக்கினி முகன், இரணியன், வஜ்ஜிரவாகு.

ஆயிரக் கணக்கான அழகியரிடம் – மூன்று
ஆயிரம் மகன்கள் மேலும் தோன்றினர்.

சிங்கமுகனின் பட்டத்துராணி விபுதை
மங்காத வலிவுடைய சூரனை ஈன்றாள்.

பிற மனைவியர் ஈன்றனர் மேலும்
குறைவில்லாத நூறு வீர மகன்களை.

தாரகன் பட்டது ராணி செளரிதேவி
ஓர் மகன் அசுரேந்திரனைப் பெற்றாள்.

சேற்றில் பிறந்த செந்தாமரைபோல,
சிப்பியில் விளைந்த முத்துப்போல,

முள்ளில் மலர்ந்த மலரைப்போல,
கள்ளம், கபடு, சூது, வாது நிறைந்த

அவுணர் இடையே பிறந்தும், அவன்
அவர்களைப் போல இருக்கவில்லை.

2 (# 19 B). THE OTHER SONS.

Soorapadman had many more sons from his many wives. His queen gave him three more sons Agni mukhan, Hiranyan and Vajrabaahu. His other wives gave him three thousand sons.

Singa mukhan’s queen Vibuthai delivered a valorous son also named Sooran. His other wives gave him one hundred strong sons.

Thaarakan’s queen gave him a son named as Asurendran. He was like a lovely lotus flower blooming in the slush, a priceless pearl produced by the gnarled oyster, a pretty flower borne by a thorny plant.

He was born among the tricky, cunning and unscrupulous asuras but possessed all the noble qualities.

2c. மீண்டும் காவேரி

அந்தணச் சிறுவன் அலைக்கழித்த பின்
விந்தையாக மாறினான் விநாயகராக!

நொந்து நூலானார் அகத்திய முனிவர்!
“இந்த இறைவனையா குட்ட முயன்றேன்?”

தரையில் விழுந்து தலையால் தொழுதார்;
“தவற்றை மன்னிக்க வேண்டும் இறைவா!

காகம் என நினைத்தேன் நான் முதலில்;
கள்ளச் சிறுவன் என நினைத்தேன் நான்;

கணநாதன் நீங்கள் என்பதை என்னால்
கண்டு கொள்ள முடியவில்லை ஐயனே!

இது என்ன விளையாட்டு என்னுடன்?
பொதிகை மலை செல்ல வேண்டிய நதி

பொங்கிப் பிரவாகமாக ஆகிவிட்டதே!
தாங்கள் தரவேண்டும் மீண்டும் காவேரி”

“குறுமுனியே இதோ காவேரி நதியை
மறுபடி தருகிறேன் உம் கமண்டலத்தில்.

இந்திரன் வளர்த்து வருகின்ற அழகிய
நந்தவனம் வாடுகின்றது நீர் இன்றி!

இந்தக் காரணத்துக்காகவே நான்
தந்தேன் நதி நீரை இந்திரனுக்கு!”

கமண்டலம் நிறைந்தது காவேரி நீரால்,
முக மண்டலம் இனிய புன்முறுவலால்.

பல முறை வணங்கி விட்டு பொதிகை
மலை செல்லலானார் அகத்தியர்.

#32c. River Kaveri

The brahmin boy who made sage Agasthya chase him all over the place had now transformed into Vinayaka. Agasthya was shocked beyond words! “Is this the God who I tried so hard to rap?”

He fell on the ground and prayed to the lord, “Pardon me my lord! I thought you were a crow and drove you away. Then I thought you were a brahmin boy and chased you all over the place. Now I see that you are my lord Vinayaka.

What have you done my lord? This river Kaveri was to be taken to Podhigai mountain by me. But now she has started flowing here as a big river. I need Kaveri water.”

Vinayaka told Agasthya, “I shall refill your kamandalam with Kaveri water. Indra’s flower garden is withering without water. I let Kaveri flow only on his request. ”

He filled the kamandalam with Kaveri water. His face was filled with smiles. The sage took leave of Vinayaka and started walking towards Podhigai Mountains.

4#13d. தணிந்தது சினம்

கண்டான் எதிர்கால விளைவுகளைச் சுக்கிரன்,
கொண்டான் மன அமைதி இனிய மொழிகளால்.

“அஞ்ச வேண்டாம் அசுரர் குல சிகாமணிகளே!
தஞ்சம் புக வேண்டாம் பாதள உலகம் சென்று.

மந்திரங்களால் காப்பேன் உங்களை நான்;
பின்னடைவு உண்டு உமக்குக் கால வசத்தால்!

விதிப்படி வந்தடையும் சுக துக்கங்கள் – அதை
எதிர்கொள்வது அன்றி இயலாது தடை செய்ய.

பத்து யுகங்கள் ஆண்டீர் மூவுலகங்களையும்!
மொத்தமாக மாறிவிட்டது நிலைமை இன்று

.ஓங்கும் கை சாவர்ணிக மனுவின் காலத்தில்;
ஏங்கும் அசுரர்களைத் தங்குவான் மஹா பலி.

வாமனாக வந்து உலகளந்த விஷ்ணு
வாரி வழங்கியுள்ளார் பல வரங்களை.

'மூவுலகையும் எனக்களித்த புண்ணியத்தால்
மூவுலகாளுவாய் சாவர்ணிக மனு காலத்தில்.'

பலி மறைந்து உறைகின்றான் இக்காலத்தில்;
பலி ஆகிவிடுவான் இந்திரனாகப் பிற்காலத்தில்."

பிரம்மஹத்தி பற்றிய இந்திரன் ஒளிந்திருந்தான்;
பிறந்தவர்கள் கட்டுப்படவேண்டும் காலத்துக்கு.

சுகமாயினும் சரியே, துக்கமாயினும் சரியே,
சுமக்க வேண்டும் கர்மவினைப் பயன்களை!

பிறந்துள்ளவை அனைத்தும் வசப்பட்டவை
சிறந்த காலத் தத்துவத்துக்கு என்றார் வியாசர்.

4#13d. Sukran’s anger subsided

Sukran saw the future of Asuraas in his Divya drushti. His anger vanished on hearing the sweet words spoken softly by King Prahlaad. He spoke to the asuras now.

“Please do not worry dear Asura veeraa! You don’t have to take refuge in the paataala fearing the Devaas. I will use the power of mantras and save you. Now the time is unfavorable for you no doubt. We enjoy pleasures and pains as ordained by Destiny. We are powerless to change them. We just have to accept them as they come to us.

You ruled over the three worlds for ten yugaas. Now the tables are turned. You will regain your supremacy again in SaavarNika manvantara. King Mahaa Bali will make us all proud. Vishnu has given him several boons when he took avatar as Vaamana.

He had blessed Mahaa Bali that Bali will rule over the three worlds. Bali keeps a low profile now. But he is destined to become the Indra in the future. When Indra was afflicted by Brahmahathi dosham, he hid himself in the stem of a lotus."

Whosoever is born is controlled by the Time Factor. He has to endure or enjoy the fruits of his past karma. Time factor binds and rules over everything created.”

20a. இரு சகோதரர்கள்.


மூவரின் தங்கையான அஜமுகியோ
மூர்க்கத்தனமாகத் திரிந்து வந்தாள்.

வரன் முறை இல்லாது வாழ்ந்து வந்தாள்;
பிறன் மனைவியரைத் துன்புறுத்தினாள்.

தேவர் மனைவியரைத் தமையன்கள்
தேவைகளுக்கு ஆட்படுத்தி வந்தாள்.

மிக்க வலிமை படைத்தவர்களான – இரு
மக்கட் பேற்றை விழைந்தாள் அஜமுகி.

துர்வாசரைக் கூடிப் பிள்ளைகள் பெறும்
துர்எண்ணத்தோடு சென்றாள் அவரிடம்.

விலகிச் செல்லும் முனிவரை விடாமல்
வலிந்து தழுவி மகன்களைப் பெற்றாள்.

வில்வலன், வாதாபி என்ற மகன்களிடம்,
“வல்லமை பெறுங்கள் தவத்தால்!” என்றாள்.

மைந்தர் வணங்கினார் தந்தை துர்வாசரை,
தந்தையின் தவத்தைத் தருமாறு கேட்டனர்.

மறுத்த முனிவரை ஒறுக்க எழுந்தவர்களை
உரத்த குரலில் சாபம் இட்டார் முனிவர்,

“முனிவர்களுக்குத் துன்பம் இழைத்துப் பின்
முனிவராலேயே மாண்டு போவீர்கள்!” என.

வேறு ஒரு காட்டைச் சென்று அடைந்தனர்.
வேறு ஒரு கருத்தின்றித் தவம் செய்தனர்.

முனிவர்களைக் கொலை புரிவது ஒன்றே
இனி அவர்களின் வாழ்வின் குறிக்கோள்.

நெடுங் காலம் தீ நடுவில் நின்றபடிக்
கடும் தவம் செய்து வந்த போதிலும்

வரவும் இல்லை நான்முகன் இரங்கி
தரவும் இல்லை வேண்டிய வரங்கள் .

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 (# 20a). THE TWO BROTHERS.

Ajamukhi – the younger sister of the three asuras – led a very loose life. She had no moral values nor did she allow the other women remain moral. She forced the wives of the devas the become the lovers of her three brothers.

Later she wanted strong sons for herself. She planned to have her sons sired by Durvasa rushi. He did not agree to her wish. Still she forced herself on him and got two sons named Vilavalan and Vaathaapi.

She told her sons, “Become great by the power of penance”. The two sons paid respect to their father Durvaasa rushi and demanded that he should give to them the power of his tapas.

He refused. Then he cursed them, “You will continue to trouble the rushis and will meet your end in the hands of one of them!”

They went to another forest and started doing penance standing in fire. Their only aim in life was to murder all the rushis they came across.

But Brahma did not take pity on them and did not appear before them.

3a. சந்ததிகள்

பிரளயத்தின் முடிவில் தோற்றுவித்தார்,
பிரமதேவன் ஏழு மானசீக புத்திரர்களை.

ஆவார் காச்யபர் அவ்வெழுவரில் ஒருவர்,
ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் அரும் தவம் புரிந்தார்.

முத்தாரம் குலுங்க, மூன்றாம்பிறை துலங்க,.
ரத்தின கிரீடத்துடன் காட்சி தந்தான் ஐயன்.

“உலக சிருஷ்டியில் உதவுமாறு எந்தை
உத்தர விட்டுள்ளார் ஐயனே எனக்கு!

அனுகிரகிக்க வேண்டும் அச்சக்தியை
அவதரிக்கவேண்டும் திருக்குமாரனாக”

விரும்பும் வரங்களை அளித்த பின்னர்
விநாயகர் மறைந்தருளினார் முன்போல்.

பத்தினியர் பதின்மூவர் காச்யபருக்கு .
பத்தினியருடன் இல்லறம் பேணினார்;

கந்தருவர், தேவர், சித்தர், சாரணர்,
கின்னரர், யக்ஷர், தானவர், மானவர்,

அத்தனை ஜீவராசிகளும் உருவாயினர்
அத்தனை வேறு வேறு பத்தினிகளிடம்.

விநாயக மந்திரத்தைக் கற்ற பின்னர்
விநாயகர் மீது செய்தனர் அரும் தவம்.

அவரவர் கற்பனைக்கு ஏற்றவண்ணம்
அன்புடன் காட்சி தந்தார் விநாயகர்.

துதித்துப் போற்றினர் துதிக்கை ஐயனை;
துதிகளால் மகிழ்ந்தார் துதிக்கை ஐயன்.

அருளுவான் ஐயன் ஐஸ்வரியங்களை
இருபத்தொரு முறை துதிப்பவர்களுக்கு.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
VINAAYAKA PURAANAM 2

#33a. The lineage

A the end of Pralaya, Brahma created seven sons out of his mind. One of the seven was Kasyapa. He did penance on Vinyaka for one thousand years.

Vinayaka appeared with pearl strings decorating his chest and the crescent moon his head. He was wearing a crown made of gems. Kasyapa prayed to Vinayaka,” My father has ordered me to assist him in the creation. Please give me the power for creating. Also You must be born as my son” Vinayaka granted these boons and disappeared.

Kasyapa had thirteen wives. He created the various races of beings out of them. Gandharva, Deva, Siddha, ChaaraNa, Kinnara, Yakaha, Daanavaa and Maanavaa were all created out of his wives.

They all learned Vinayaka mantra and did penance on him. Vinayaka appeared to them the way they had imagined him. They all praised him with various names. Vinayaka was very pleased by those words.

He blessed that whoever chants those words twenty one times would get all the eight aiswaryam in the world.

4#14a. தேவாசுர யுத்தம்

காலத்தின் வலிமையினை உணர்ந்த பிரஹலாதன்
காத்திருக்க முடிவு செய்தான் காலம் கனியும் வரை.

“வெற்றி கிடைக்காது இப்போது யுத்தம் புரிந்தால்!
வெல்லும் காலம் வரை காத்திருப்போம்!” என்றான்.

“காலம் கருதும் நிலையில் இல்லை நாம் இப்போது;
காலம் கருதுவர் முயற்சி அற்றவர்கள் மட்டுமே!

விரயம் செய்யோம் விலை மதிப்பற்ற காலத்தை!
கரை கண்டவர் யார் காலத்தின் நியதியை இங்கு?

எந்த உருவத்தில் உள்ளது காலத்தின் நியதி?
ஏற்படுத்தியவர் யார் காலத்தின் நியதிகளை?

வீரமும், தீரமும் தரும் வெற்றியை – வீணே
விரயம் செய்யும் காலம் அல்லவே!” என்றனர்.

மறுக்க முடியவில்லை பிற அசுரரின் கூற்றை!
விருப்பத்துக்கு அடி பணிந்தான் பிரஹலாதன்.

அழைத்தான் தேவர்களைத் தன்னுடன் போருக்கு;
அணைத்தாள் வெற்றித் திருமகள் அசுரர்களை !

தோல்வியால் துவண்டான் தேவேந்திரன் – சென்று
தேவ குருவிடம் கூறினான் தனது குறைகளை.

“அடைவோம் சகல சித்திகளையும் உடனே
தடையின்றி மகேஸ்வரியின் கடாக்ஷத்தால்!”

வழிபட்டான் இந்திரன் தேவியைத் துதித்து;
வெளிப்பட்டாள் தேவி புன்னகை முகத்தோடு.

சிங்க வாகனத்தில் அமர்ந்து கொண்டு கரங்களில்
சங்கு, சக்கரம், கதை, பத்மம் ஏந்திக் கொண்டு!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

4#14a. Devaasura yuddham

Prahlaad understood the power of the Time Factor on the activities of everyone and decided to wait for a more favorable time for the war with the Devaas. But the other asuraas who did not accept his views said,

“We are not in a position to abide for a more favorable time. Only those who do not faith in themselves believe in the Time Factor. We do not want to waste the precious time in waiting. Who knows everything about the Time Factor and how it affects our lives? It is our valor and strength that give us victory and not the Time Factor.”

Prahlaad gave in to their demands and went to fight with Indra and his army. The Goddess of Victory embraced the side of the Asuraas. The Devaas were defeated in the war.

Indra went to his guru crestfallen and sad to lament on his defeat
Bruhaspati advised him to do aaraadhana to Devi and get her blessings. Indra did as he was told and Devi emerged seated on her lion vaahana and with a smiling countenance. She held the conch, discus, the mace and the lotus in her four arms.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

20b. வில்வலன், வாதாபி.

வில்வலன் செய்தான் அதற்குப் பின்னர்,
சொல்லரிய வேள்வி வாதாபியைக் கொன்று!

வாளால் கிழித்துக் குருதியைச் சொரிந்து
தாளாத கொடும் வேள்வியைச் செய்தான்.

நான்முகன் வந்தான் மனம் இரங்கி,
வேண்டும் வரங்கள் எல்லாம் தந்தான்.

“எத்தனை முறை கொல்லப்பட்டாலும்,
எத்தனை துண்டாக வெட்டப்பட்டாலும்,

மீண்டும் முழு உடல் அமையப் பெற்று
மீண்டும் உயிர் பெற வேண்டும் வாதாபி.”

கோரிய ஒரு வரத்தைப் பெற்றுவிட்டனர்.
சீரிய ஒரு திட்டம் தயாராகக் கைவசம்!

மாமன் சூரபத்மனிடம் சென்று விளக்கி,
மார் தட்டிக் கொண்டனர் இவர்களும்.

குடக நாட்டின் காட்டை அடைந்தனர்,
திடமாக முனிவரைக் கொல்லலாயினர்.

நான்கு பாதைகள் கூடும் இடத்தில்
நல்ல வசதிகளுடன் பெரிய இருப்பிடம்;

நடந்து செல்லும் முனிவரைப் பணிந்து
நல்லதொரு விருந்துக்கு அழைப்பார்கள்.

ஆட்டு முகம் கொண்ட வாதாபியை – ஓர்
ஆடாக்கிச் சமைப்பான் வில்வலன்,

உணவு உண்டவரின் வயிற்றைக் கீறிப்
பிணமாக்கி வெளிவருவான் வாதாபி.

இறந்த முனிவரின் உடலை இருவரும்
விருந்தாக அருந்தி அகம் மகிழ்வர்.

வெகுநாள் தொடர்ந்தது இந்த நாடகம்,
வெகுளி முனிவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து பலி!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
