DEVI BHAAGAVATAM - SKANDA 4

4#10c. The hard penance

Sukran wished for the welfare of the Asuras and Sivan for that of the Devas and he made it very difficult for Sukran.

Sivan told Sukran, “You will have to perform a difficult vratham to get purified for the mantra upadesam. You must hang upside down and consume nothing but the smoke emerging from the homa kundam for one thousand years”

Sukran agreed to this condition willingly. He performed the harsh vratham as told by Sivan.

The Devaas came to know about this and the purpose of the vratam. They knew that the Asuras have tricked them by donning on the clothes of a mendicants and tapasvis, The Deva went to fight a war with the Asuras.

The asuras told them,”We have become very weak now. That is why awe are performing tapas. Guru Sukran must be performing his vratam for a personal gain and not for the gain of our race.

We have laid down our arms. You can’t fight with peple who do not wield arms. We have surrendered to you long back”

But the Deva knew the treacherous nature of the asuras and would not believe their words. The Deva said, “All is fair in love and war. Don you armors, take up your weapons and come to fight with us”

12c. சூரனின் திக்விஜயம்.

தொடர்ந்து நடந்த அவுணர் படை
அடுத்து அடைந்தது எமபுரத்தை.

தூதுவர் சென்று செய்தி அறிவிக்க
ஏதும் செய்ய இயலாத எமதர்மன்,

குபேரன், அக்னி தேவன் போலவே
பேரம் இன்றிச் சரண் புகுந்தான்.

அவுணர் படை அள்ளிச் சென்றது
ஆவலுடன் எமபுரியின் செல்வத்தை!

வருணனும், வாயுவும் அஞ்சி ஒளியவே,
பெரும் சேதம் விளைந்தது அந்நகர்களில்!

நாகர் உலகை அடைந்தான் சூரபத்மன்,
போகாமல் நின்று போரிட்டான் சேடன்;

அவுணர்படை வென்றது ஆதிசேடனை;
அமிர்தத்தைப் பறித்து அருந்தினான் சூரன்;

பல திக்குகள் நடந்து வெற்றி கண்டபின்
பாற்கடலைச் சென்று அடைந்தான் சூரன்.

பாற்கடலைக் கலக்கியது அவுணர் படை;
பயந்த தேவியர் திருமாலைத் தழுவினர்;

உறக்கம் கலைந்து எழுந்த திருமால்
பறக்கும் கருடன் மேல் ஏறி அமர்ந்தார்.

சிதற அடித்தார் அவுணர் படையை!
சிவந்த ஆறானது அவுணர் குருதி.

மாலுடன் போரிட்டான் தாரக அசுரன்,
மாலால் வெல்ல முடியவில்லை அவனை!

ஆழிப் படையை செலுத்தினார் திருமால்.
ஊழித் தீயென விரைந்து சென்றது ஆழி!

அழகிய செம்பொன் பதக்கமாக மாறி,
அழகாக விளங்கியது தாரகன் கழுத்தில்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 (# 12c). Sooran’s conquests.

Soorapadman’s army marched forward. It reached the city of Yama. Yama had no choice but to surrender unconditionally to Sooran. His wealth was looted by the army of asuras.

Varuna and Vayu hid themselves in fear and the army of asura looted and destroyed their cities. The army reached The World of Nagas.

Adhiseshan fought bravely but was defeated by the army. Soorapadman forcefully grabbed and drank the nectar.

The army reached the ocean of milk. The frightened Devis embraced Vishnu. His slumber was disturbed.

He mounted on is Garuda vaahanam and fought the asura army valiantly. Soon a river of blood started flowing there.

Tharaka asuran fought with Vishnu. Vishnu could not defeat him. When Vishnu released his discus on Tarakan, it transformed into a lovely gold pendent and decorated the neck of the asura.

29f. பத்தினியின் சாபம்

பொருளுடன் சென்றான் வேசியின் இல்லம்.
அவளுடன் சென்றான் அருகில் ஒரு கானகம்.

தாலவன முனிவர் வசித்தார் அந்தக் காட்டில்;
பாலைவனச் சோலை போன்ற ரிஷிபத்தினி!

காமாந்தகன் புதன் கண்களில் பட்டுவிட்டாள்;
ஏமாந்த நேரம் பார்த்துத் தொட முயன்றான்!

நீராட முனிவர் சென்றிருந்த நேரத்தில்,
தாராளமாக நுழைந்தான் ஆசிரமத்தில்.

கோபம் கொண்டாள் ரிஷியின் பத்தினி;
சாபம் தந்தாள் தாலவன முனி பத்தினி!

“முனி பத்தினி என்று அறிந்து இருந்தும்
துணிந்து விட்டாய் வந்து தொடுவதற்கு!

எந்த இன்பத்திற்காக அலைகின்றாயோ
அந்த இன்பம் கிடைக்காது இனி உனக்கு.

குஷ்ட ரோகம் பற்றட்டும் உன்னுடலை!
இஷ்டப்படமாட்டார் பெண்கள் உன்னை!”

பத்தினியின் சாபம் பலித்தது உடனே!
ரத்தம் வழியும் ரணங்கள் தோன்றின!

விகாரமானது வேட்கை கொண்ட உடல்;
ஏகாந்தமே இனி உன் கதி என்று ஆனது.

வேசி மறைந்து விட்டாள் மாயமாக!
ஆசை வார்த்தைகள் எல்லாமே பொய்.

தன்னந் தனியாக அலைந்தான் காட்டில்;
துன்புற்றுத் துயருற்று உயிர் துறந்தான்.

நரகத்தில் உழன்றும் தீரவில்லை பாவம்;
நரகம் ஆகி விட்டது வாழும் வாழ்க்கை!

குஷ்டத்தோடேயே வந்து பிறந்து மேலும்
கஷ்டப்பட்டான் வணிகன் புன்மகன் புதன்.

#29F. Rushi patni’s curse

Budhan went to his concubine’s house with all his wealth. He later went to a nearby forest to escape from being arrested for the murders he had committed.

Thaalavana rushi lived there with his patni. She was a beauty nonpareil and chaste to the core. Budhan happened to see her and his desire was kindled for this beautiful rushi patni.

He went into the ashram when the sage had gone to the river and she was alone. He grabbed her hand but she freed herself from his grasp and cast on him a fiery curse,

“You know that I am a rushi patni. Yet you dared to come in when I am alone and tried to seduce me. The pleasure for which you crave will never be yours ever again. May your body be afflicted by leprosy. May all the women hate your very sight”

The chaste woman’s words became true immediately. Wounds appeared all over his body and started oozing blood. His figure became unsightly. He was left all alone in the forest. His concubine disappeared without a word or a trace. All her love dissipated as a whiff of smoke.

He roamed in the forest alone – hideous and hated by the onlookers. He suffered a lot and died one day. He went to hell and suffered there more but his account was yet to be settled.

So he was born again on earth afflicted with leprosy to suffer more and more! This is the story of the sinner merchant Budhan”

4#10d. குருவின் அன்னை

அஞ்சி ஓடினர் அசுரர்கள் அங்கிருந்து – ஓடித்
தஞ்சம் அடைந்தனர் பிருகுவின் மனைவியை.

குருவின் தாயும் அவரே ஆவார் – அதனால்
விரும்பி அளித்தார் அபயம், அடைக்கலம்!

விடவில்லை தேவர்கள் ஓடிச் சென்ற அசுரரை;
விரட்டி வந்தனர் சுக்கிரரின் ஆசிரமத்துக்கும் !

வையத் தொடங்கினர் அசுரரை தேவர்கள்;
நையப் புடைத்தனர் அசுரரை தேவர்கள்.

“அடைக்கலம் அளித்துள்ளேன் நான் அசுரருக்கு
புடைக்காதீர்கள்!” என்றாலும் நிறுத்தவேயில்லை.

அழுதனர் அசுரர்கள் குருவின் தாயிடம்,
தொழுதனர் தேவர்களிடமிருந்து காத்திட.

“அஞ்சாதீர்கள் தஞ்சம் அடைந்தவரைக்
கொஞ்சமும் கைவிடேன்! ” என்றாள்!

தூண்டினாள் நித்திரா தேவியை அன்னை !
தூங்கினர் தேவர்கள் அனைவரும் அங்கே!

போருக்கு வந்தவர் யாரும் மிஞ்சவில்லை!
தறுமாறாக ஆழ்ந்து விட்டனர் உறக்கத்தில்!

வந்தார் விஷ்ணு அங்கு அப்போது – வந்து
இந்திரனை அழைத்தார் அருகில் வருமாறு.

அரை மயக்கத்தில் இருந்தான் இந்திரன்!
அமரர்கோன் சென்றான் விஷ்ணுவிடம்.

மயக்கம் தெளியத் தொடங்கியது அமரருக்கு!
தயங்கவில்லை சிறிதும் குருவின் அன்னை.

“விழுங்கப் போகின்றேன் உங்கள் இருவரையும்
முழுதாக!” என்றாள் விஷ்ணு, இந்திரனிடம்.

4#10d. Guru Sukran’s mother

The Asuraas took to their heels and took refuge in guru Sukran’s ashram. Sage Brugu’s wife was the mother of Guru Sukran and she gave them refuge.

But the Devaas did not spare the asuras. They chased them into the ashram and bet the asuras nicely scolding them in their choicest words.

Brugu’s wife tried to stop the Deva but in vain! Meanwhile the asuraas beaten up and abused by the Deva cried piteously.

Brugu’s wife had accumulated her own share of the power of penance. She invoked Nidraa Devi who made all the Devaas go to sleep then and there. Not one Devaa was spared and everyone went into deep slumber.

Vishnu came there at that time. He tied to wake up Indra and asked him to come closer. At that point the spell of the deep sleep was broken and all the Deva woke up.

Brugu’s wife did not hesitate for a moment but said to Vishnu and Indra, “I am going to swallow you both whole!“

12d. சுவர்க்கம் செல்லுதல்.

அடுத்து அடைந்தது சுவர்க்கத்தைத்
தொடர்ந்து நடந்த அவுணர் படை;

வந்தான் சூரன் என்ற செய்தி கேட்டு
நொந்தான் இந்திரன் மனம் உடைந்து;

போரில் வெல்லும் வாய்ப்பே இல்லையே!
கூரிய மதியினால் தப்பிச் சென்றான்.

இந்திராணியுடன் குயில் வடிவெடுத்து
இந்திரன் பறந்து சென்றான் விண்ணில்.

இந்திரன் தப்பிவிட்டான் என்று சினந்து
தொந்தரவு செய்தனர் பிற தேவர்களை.

தொண்டு புரிவதாக வாக்களித்தபின்
மீண்டு சென்றனர் கொள்ளைஅடித்தபின்.

பிரம லோகத்தை அடைந்தான் சூரன்;
பிரமனே வந்து வாழ்த்துரை வழங்கினான்.

“என் மகன் காசியபன் உன்னுடைய தந்தை;
நான் உனக்குப் பாட்டன் முறை” என்று.

வைகுந்தத்தை அடைந்தது அவுணர் படை,
வைகுந்த நாதனே வந்து வாழ்த்தினான்;

சிவலோகம் சென்றடைந்தது அவுணர்படை;
சிவனை வணங்கி ஆசி பெற்றான் சூரன்;

ஆயிரத்தெட்டு அண்டங்களுக்கும் சென்று
ஆட்சியை நிலை நாட்டினான் சூரபத்மன்.

2 (# 12 d) . Sooran’s visit to Swarga.

The asura army reached Swarga next. Indra became very annoyed. There was no hope of winning a battle. He escaped with his queen by changing themselves into two cuckoos.

The army was angered by Indra’s escape and started punishing the other Devas found there. After they all promised to serve Soorapadman, they were spared of further punishments.

The army reached Brahma lokam. Brahma himself came to greet the Soorapadman claiming to be his paternal grandfather. When they reached Vaikuntham Vishnu himself came out and greeted Soora padman.

In Shivalokam Soorapadman took the blessings of Siva. He established his rule in all the 1008 universes and returned to earth.

29g. சுவர்க்கம்

சூரசேனன் கேட்டான் இக்கதையினை;
சூரசேனன் மனம் வெண்ணெய் ஆனது!

தேவகணங்களிடம் கூறினான் அவன்,
“பாவ காரியங்கள் செய்திருந்தான் பல.

தண்டனை அனுபவித்தான் பலகாலம்
மண்ணிலும் நரகத்திலும் உழன்றபடி.

தீராத நோயுடன் பிறந்துள்ளான்;
பாராமுகம் தகுதியல்ல உமக்கு.

கற்பக விநாய தேவகணங்களின்
அற்புத தரிசனமும் பெற்றுள்ளான்.

தரிசித்த அளவில் தீர்ந்து போகுமே
அறிந்து செய்த பாவங்களும் கூட!

எச்சில் உணவைப் புசித்துவிட்டு,
எள்ளளவும் பக்தியே இல்லாமல்,

“கணபதி! கணபதி!” என்று கூறிய
பெண்ணின் பாவம் தீர்ந்துபோனது!

சதா இறைவன் அருகில் உள்ளவர்கள்
சாதாரணமானவர்களா? இல்லை இல்லை.

கிருபை செய்வீர் இந்த வணிகனுக்கும்.
அருள்வீர் அவனுக்கும் விண்ணுலகு.”

இத்தனை பரோபகார சிந்தனையா?
அத்தனை பேரும் வியந்துபோற்றினர்.

மனம் இளகினர் தேவகணங்கள்
அனுகிரஹம் செய்தனர் பாவம் தீர.

திவ்விய சரீரத்தை அடைந்த வணிகன்
திவ்விய விமானத்தில் ஏறி அமர்ந்தான்

அய்யன் அருள் இருக்குமானால் நம்மால்
செய்ய முடியாதது என்று ஏதுமுண்டோ?

பரோபகாரி மன்னன் சூரசேனன்
விரோதிக்கும் அருளும் பெருமகன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#29G. Swarggam

King Soorasenan listened to this story of Budhan and his heart melted like butter. He told the Deva ganas, “This man has committed many sins. He also got duly punished on earth and in hell.

Again he is born with an incurable disease and is suffering now. He has had the dharshan of you the Deva ganas of ganapthi. That itself is enough to cancel out all his sins.

The chandaaLa sthree ate the leftovers of the feast and said “Ganapathi Ganapathi!” without bhakthi. Yet her sins vanished. You reside near Ganapathi. Your dharshan will purify any sinner. Please let him also come to heaven!”

Everyone wondered at the goodness of the king Surasenan. The Deva gana gave in finally and made Budan’s sins vanish. The merchant Budhan now had a divya sareeram. He got into the vimaanam and they took off to the Vinayaka lokam in the vimaanam.

4#10e. சக்ராயுதம்

ஏவினாள் குருவின் அன்னை நித்திரா தேவியை
மேவினாள் நித்திரா தேவி அவ்விருவர் மீதும்.

அழுது புலம்பினர் தேவர்கள் இப்போது!
அழுகுரல் கேட்டு விழித்தனர் இருவரும்!

“நம்மை அவள் விழுங்குவதற்கு முன்பு
நாம் அவளை அழிக்க வேண்டும் பகவன்!

அஞ்சற்க ஸ்திரீ ஹத்தி தோஷத்துக்கு!
அஞ்சற்க அவர் உமது மாமியார் என்று!”

தூண்டினான் இந்திரன் மஹாவிஷ்ணுவை;
தாண்டினார் தர்ம நீதிநெறிகளை விஷ்ணு.

சிந்திக்கவில்லை விஷ்ணு சிறிதளவும்;
சிந்தித்தார் விஷ்ணு தன் சக்கராயுதத்தை .

வந்து அமர்ந்தது சுதர்சனச் சக்கரம்
வலக் கரத்தில் விரலில் லாவகமாக.

பிரயோகித்தார் அதை பிருகு மனைவி மீது;
தரையில் விழுந்தாள் அவள் தலை வேறாகி.

முனிவர்கள் சினத்தை அறியாதவர் யார்?
முனிவர்கள் சாபத்துக்கு அஞ்சாதவர் யார்?

சபிப்பார் முனிவர் இதை அறிந்ததும்;
சகிக்க முடியுமா அவர் தரும் சாபத்தை?

4#10e. Sudarsanam

Brugu’s wife invoked the Nidraa Devi to make Vishnu and Indra fall asleep. Now the Devas started crying. The two Gods woke up from sleep on hearing the cry of the Devas.

Indra told Vishnu,” Let us finish her off before she get a chance to swallow both of us. Do not hesitate about the sthree haththi dosham. Do not hesitate that she is your mother in law.” Vishnu was properly brainwashed and did not pause to think of the consequences of his impulsive action.

Vishnu commanded his Sudarsanam to appear and it descned on the index finger of his right hand. Vishnu let it go and Brugu’s wife fell dead on the ground with her head severed.

Who is not aware of the wrath of a rushi? Who can face it and accept the curse given by him?

13. எதிர்கொள்ளுதல்.

தேவர்களிடம் அல்லல் பட்ட அவுணர்கள்,
தேவர்கள் படும் தொல்லைகளை ரசித்தனர்.

வெற்றி வாகை சூடி வரும் சூரபத்மனை,
வெற்றி விழாவுடன் வரவேற்க வேண்டுமே!

அசுரேந்திரன் எதிர்கொள்ள விரும்பினான்.
அசுரகுருவிடம் விண்ணப்பித்தான் இதை.

“முன்னே நீர் செல்ல வேண்டும் – சூரனிடம்
என்னை அறிமுகம் செய்ய வேண்டும்!” என.

தாய்வழிப் பாட்டனை அறிமுகம் செய்யத்
தாமதம் இன்றிச் சென்றான் விமானத்தில்.

பாட்டனைத் தொழுது குசலம் விசாரித்துப்
பறந்து சென்றான் சூரன் நிலவுலகினுக்கு.

இந்திரன் முதலாய தேவர்கள் சென்றனர்,
நொந்த உள்ளத்துடன் திருமாலை நாடி.

“சிவனை இகழ்ந்த தக்கன் யாகத்துக்கு
அவனை மதித்துச் சென்றதன் பயன் இது.

சிவன் அருளால் மேன்மைகள் பெற்றவனை
எவனாலும் வெல்ல முடியாது அறிவோம்.

அவனை வாழ்த்துவதே நல்ல முறையாகும்.”
அனைவரும்சென்று துதி பாடினர் அவனை.

பதினொரு கோடி ருத்திரர்கள் கண்டான் சூரன்,
“பதில் உரையுங்கள், இவர்கள் யார்?” என்றான்.

2 (#13). THE RECEPTION.

The asuras who has suffered in the hands of the Devas, enjoyed witnessing the sufferings inflicted on them by Sooran.

Sooran’s maternal grandfather Asurenthran wanted to receive Sooran with due honors. He requested Sukracharys to go ahead and introduce him to Sooran as his maternal grandfather.

Sukra flew in his vimaanam and told Sooran about his grandfather. Sooran asked about the welfare of his grandfather and flew back to the earth.

Indra and the other devas went to Vishnu and lay bare their sufferings. Vishnu replied,”It was not right on the part of the devas to have attended the Yaaga performed by Dakshan insulting Siva. Now no one can defeat Sooran. It is better that we all go and pay him our respect.”

Sooran was surprised to see the Ekadasa koti Rudras who resembled Lord Siva and wanted to know about their identity.

30a. ஜமதக்னி

கிருதவீரியன் ஏகினான் வனம் – மகன்
கார்த்தவீரியனை மன்னன் ஆக்கிவிட்டு.

எதிரிகளை எளிதில் வென்று புகழோடு
அதிரடி ஆட்சி நடத்தினான் கார்த்தவீரியன்.

ஜமதக்னி சிறந்த முனிவர்களில் ஒருவர்;
ஜனனம் எடுத்தார் விஷ்ணு இவர் மகனாக.

ரிஷிபத்னி கற்புக்கரசி ரேணுகா தேவி;
ராமன் என்ற பெயரில் வளர்ந்தார் விஷ்ணு.

காட்டுக்கு வந்தான் கார்த்தவீரியன் – விலங்கு
வேட்டை ஆடுவதற்கு தன் படைகளுடன்.

ஆசிரமத்தைக் கண்டதும் சென்றான் அங்கு
ஆசீர்வாதமும், தரிசனமும் பெறுவதற்கு.

ஜமதக்னி முனிவர் வரவேற்றார் அன்போடு;
“உமது புகழை நான் கேட்டுள்ளேன் அரசே!

ஆசிரமத்தில் தங்கி இளைப்பாறுங்கள்
ஆகாரம் புசித்து விட்டுப்போகலாம்!” என

“முனிவரே படையுடன் வந்துள்ளேன் நான்
தனியாக உணவு உண்பது சரியல்ல!” என

“எத்தனை பேர்கள் இருந்தாலும் சரியே!
அத் தனை பேர்களும் நீராடிவிட்டு வரலாம்!”

நீராடச்சென்றான் அரசன் படைவீரருடன்;
ஆராதித்தனர் காமதேனுவை ரிஷி தம்பதியர்.

அழகிய நகரம் உருவானது அந்த வனத்தில்;
அறுசுவை உண்டி உருவானது போஜனத்தில்!

இந்திர ஜாலமா? தந்திரக் காட்சிகளா?அன்றி
மந்திரப் பிரயோகமா? என்று மதி மயங்கினர்.

மன்னனும், படையினரும் உண்ட பின்னும்
இன்னமும் குவிந்திருந்தன உணவு வகைகள்!

#30a. Sage Jamadagni

Kruthaveeryan made Kaarthaveeryan the new king and went for vanaprastha. Kaarthaveeryan defeated his enemies easily and ruled his land with fame and popularity. Jamadagni was on of the revered sages. Vishnu was born as his son Raman. Renuka Devi was his patni.

Once kaarthaveryan went to the jungle to hunt the wild animals. He saw the ashram of Jamadagni and went there to get the dharshan and the blessings of the sage.

Jamadagni welcomed him and said, “Please relax and take rest in the aashram. You can eat some food and then go back to your city.” The king kaarthaveeryan told the sage,”I have not come alone but along with my army. It will not be fair on my part to eat food leaving all my soldier hungry”

Sage Jamadagni replied, “It is not a problem at all. All of you ware welcome to enjoy our hospitality and take food here. All of You may finish your bath and come to eat food.” The king was surprised how the rushi was going to feed a hungry army of soldiers in this jungle.

After the king and his soldiers went to the river, Jamadagni and Renuka Devi did pooja to Kaamadhenu – the divine cow. It had the power to produce and give them anything they wished for.
It produced a beautiful city with all conveniences in the middle of the jungle. All types of food were made available as if by magic.

4#11a. ஜயந்தி

தலை அறுபட்டுத் தன் மனைவி கோரமாகத்
தரையில் கிடப்பதைக் கண்டார் பிருகு ருஷி.

சீறி எழுந்தது சினம் அவரது சிரம் வரையில்!
சீறினார் வெஞ்சினத்துடன் விஷ்ணுவிடம்,

“செய்யக் கூடாதது என்று அறிவாய் – ஆயின்
செய்துவிட்டாய் பிராமண ஸ்திரீயின் ஹத்தி.

இல்லை இதை விடக் கொடிய பாவம் ஒன்று!
இல்லை இந்தப் பாதகத்துக்கு மன்னிப்பு என்று!

பிறப்பாய் பல இழிந்த யோனிகளில் சென்று;
இறப்பாய் இது போல் துஷ்டத்தனம் செய்து.

சத்துவ குணவான் என்று தத்துவம் பேசினால்
உத்தமனாக ஆகி விட மாட்டாய் நீ ஒன்றும்.

மண்ணுலகத்தில் எடுப்பாய் பல பிறவிகள்!
பெண்ணின் கர்ப்பத்தில் வாசம் செய்வாய்!”

இல்லறம் என்னும் நல்லறத்தை அழித்து
பொல்லாத இழிவை அடைந்தார் விஷ்ணு!

தலையைச் சேர்த்து வைத்தார் உடலுடன்;
தவ வலிமை மீது ஆணை இட்டார் பிருகு.

விழுந்தன கமண்டல நீர்த்துளிகள் – உடனே
எழுந்தாள் மனைவி உயிருடன் மீண்டும்.

சினம் தணிந்து விட்டது பிருகுவுக்கு
சினம் தணலானது இந்திரனுக்கு!

கடும் தவம் செய்யும் சுக்கிரனுக்கு
அரும் சித்திகள் வந்து சேர்ந்துவிடும்.

கலைக்க வேண்டும் சுக்கிரன் தவத்தை
மலைக்க வைக்கும் மகளின் அழகால்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
DEVI BHAAGAVATAM - SKANDA 4

4#11a. JAYANTI

Sage Brugu flew into a temper when he saw his dear wife lying dead on the ground with her head severed by VishNu.

He took to task VishNu and told him, “You know that this action is not to be done by you and yet you have done his.

There is no greater sin than killing a Brahmin lady. There is no parihaaram for this kind of sin. You will take birth from several lowly yonis (birth canals). You will commit more sins and get punished more.

You may proclaim that you are filled with Satva guNaa but it will not make you an uththama purushan (holy person). You will take several births on the earth. You will grow in the wombs of women just as any normal human being.”

VishNu got cursed since he ruined the happy and harmonious life of sage Brugu with his wife.

Brugu kept the head of his wife along with her body. He swore on the power of his penance and sprinkled the holy water from his kamandalam on the body of his wife. She woke up from the dead as if from deep sleep.

Brugu’s anger vanished but Indra’a anger swelled up. Sukran who was doing severe penance would gain many new powers and use them against the Devaas. His penance should be disturbed at any cost. His own beautiful daughter Jayanti would be very useful for this mission.
 
KANDA PURAANAM - ASURA KAANDAM

14. நான்முகன் ஆணவம்.

படைப்புத் தொழில் செய்து வந்த நான்முகன்
இடையில் மறந்து போனான் சிவபிரானை.

முழுமுதல் பிரானை மறந்து படைத்தபோது
முழுமை பெறவில்லை அவன் படைப்பு.

செருக்கு அழிந்து தவம் செய்த போதிலும்
உருக்கம் கொண்டு சிவன் வரவே இல்லை!

சிந்திய கண்ணீர் துளிகள் உருமாறி
தொந்தரவு செய்யும் பேய்கள் ஆகின.

படைப்புத் தொழிலை முடிக்க உதவிட
பதினோரு ருத்திரர்களைப் படைத்து

பிரமனிடம் அனுப்பினான் சிவபிரான்.
பிரமனுக்கு உதவினர் அந்த ருத்திரர்கள்.

பதினோரு ருத்திரர்கள் படைத்தனர்
பதினோரு கோடி ருத்திரர்களை.

“இருவினைகளுக்கு ஈடாகப் படையுங்கள்!”
பிரமன் விண்ணப்பித்தான் ருத்திரர்களிடம்.

“முன் போலப் படைத்தல் செய்வீர்!” என
பொன்னுலகம் ஏகினர் அந்த ருத்திரர்கள்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 (#14). BRAHMA’S PRIDE.

Brahma became proud with his power to create and forgot that lord Siva was the supreme God. His creation became incomplete without the grace of Siva.

Brahma realised his folly. He did penance but Siva did not appear. The tears shed by Brahma in self pity transformed into haunting demons.

Siva took pity and sent eleven Rudras to help Brahma with the creation.They created eleven crore Rudras very similar to themselves.

Brahma requested the Rudras to create the beings subjected to the good and bad karmas.

The Rudras told Brahma to continue to create as before and returned to the heaven.
