19e. Rukmini’s vratham

The war between Sambaran and Pradyumnan continued for many days. Neither victory nor defeat was in sight for either of them. Rukmini Devi worried about the welfare of her son. She prayed to Vinayaka to help her son win the war. She observed the Chathurthi vratham.

Changes happened in the war immediately. Samabarn was killed by Pradyumnan on the sixth day of the war. Pradyumnan freed Rathi Devi and married her. They got a lovely son whom they named as Aniruddhan.

Usha the daughter of Baanaasuran saw Aniruddhan in her dream and fell in love with him. She suffered the severe pangs of separation and her talented and smart friend Chitraleka took pity on her. She had Aniruddhan brought secretly to Usha’s palace.

Anirudhdhan was surprised to find himself in the room of a princess who was madly in love with him. She spoke to him of her deep love. He returned her love. They started living as a man and wife secretly in Usha’s palace.

19. படை எழுதல்.

திருமால் கூறினர் வாயுதேவனிடம்,
“முருகன் தேரை நீ செலுத்துவாய்!”

வாயு தேரைச் செலுத்தலானான்.
பாயும் தேரில் அமர்ந்தான் முருகன்;

தேவர் மகிழ்ந்தனர் “முருகன் அருளால்
யாவரின் துயரமும் விரைவில் தீரும்.”

மொய்த்தனர் முருகனைப் படைவீரர்;
மொய்த்தனர் வீரரை முனிவர், தேவர்;

கயிலையில் இருந்தன பலப்பல பூதங்கள்.
கயிலை நாதன் அருளினான் சில பூதங்கள்.

ஈராயிரம் வெள்ளம் பூதங்கள் அங்கு வந்தன
நூற்றெட்டு படைத் தலைவர் தலைமையில்.

போர் முரசங்கள் கடலென முழங்கிடப்
போர்ப்படைகள் கடலென நகர்ந்தன.

ஆறுமுகனும், அரிய படைவீரர்களும்,
சேர்ந்தனர் நிலவுலகின் மேற்பரப்பை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
1 (# 19 ). THE ARMY MOVES ON

Vishnu told Vayu,” You become Murugan’s charioteer” Vayu agreed and the chariot traveled faster than human thoughts. Devas felt happy that their troubles would be over soon.

Murugan was hailed by his warriors. The warriors were hailed b the rushis and Devas.

Two thousand units of Siva ganas reached there under the leadership of one hundred and eight commanders.

War drums roared louder than the oceans. The army traveled like the waves of an ocean. The entire army reached the surface of the earth.

3#21b. மன்னர்களின் சினம்

தத்தம் செய்ய விரும்புகின்றேன் நாட்டைச்
சத்தம் இன்றி என் மருமகனுக்கு இப்போதே.

வனவாசம் மேலானதாகத் தோன்றுகிறது;
வானளவான பிரச்சனைகள் உள்நாட்டில்.

சுயம் வரத்துக்கு வந்துள்ள சில மன்னர்கள்
சுய புத்தியை இழந்து விட்டனர் சினத்தால்!

சமாளிக்கின்றேன் அவர்களின் எதிர்ப்பைச்
சாம, தான, பேத தண்ட உபாயங்களால்

தோற்கும் அதர்மம்; வெல்லும் தர்மம் அன்றோ?
வெற்றி கிட்டாது அந்த துஷ்ட மன்னர்களுக்கு “

“வெற்றியும் மங்கலமும் உண்டாகட்டும்!
வெற்றியுடன் நாட்டை ஆள்வீர் மகனுடன்.

பரமேஸ்வரி அளிப்பாள் சுதர்சனனுக்கு
பரம்பரை உரிமையுள்ள ராஜ்ஜியத்தை.

தேவி துணையிருந்தால் அச்சம் எதற்கு?
பாவிகளின் சூது பக்தர்களை பாதிக்காது!”

மன்னர்கள் அறிந்துகொண்டனர்- ரகசியமாக
முன்னிரவில் நடந்த திருமணம் குறித்து

ஆயத்தம் ஆனர்கள் நகரை முற்றுகையிட.
ஆத்திரம் கொண்டு பேசிக் கொண்டார்கள்.

“அவமானப் படுத்தினான் எல்லோரையும்
அவனை நாசம் செய்வோம் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து!

கண்ட துண்டமாக்குவோம் மணமகனை!
கற்பைச் சூறையாடுவோம் மணமகளின்;

இதைச் செய்யாமல் நாடு திரும்பினால்
இல்லை நமக்கு வெட்கம், மானம் எதுவும்!”

3#21b. The anger of the kings

King Subaahu told Queen Manorama, “I am ready to handover this kingdom to my son in law Sudarsanan and go and live in the forest. Vana vaasam seems to be so much more peaceful than ruling a country.

Some of kings who have come for the swayamvaram have lost their heads due to intense anger. I have to control them using the four fold methods called Saama, Daana, Bedha and Dandam.

Satyameva Jayate. Truth and Dharma will always triumph. The falsehood will never conquer. The wicked kings shall never be victorious – if there is going to be a war.”

Queen Manorama said to him, “May victory and auspiciousnes be with you always. May you rule your kingdom well with your son. Devi will give back to Sudarsanan his lawful kingdom very soon. With Devi on our side, there is no need to fear anything. The treacherous plans of the wicked kings will be foiled by Her grace!”

The kings learned about the secret wedding performd the night before. They became very angry and got ready to lay a siege on the capital city of Subaahu. They spoke among themselves thus:

“King Subaahu has made fools out of all of us. He needs to be destroyed completely. We will cut the groom into a thousand pieces and ravish the virtue of the princess Sasikala. If we return to our kingdoms without avenging in this manner, we have no sense of shame or dignity or manliness!”

19f. பாணாசுரன்

மகனைக் காணாது பிரத்யும்னன் தேட,
மகன் இருக்கும் இடம் தெரியவில்லை!

களவுத் திருமணம் வெளியாகி விட்டது;
உளவுத் தொழில் எவரும் புரியும் முன்பே!

இன்பத்தின் விளைவு பெரும் துன்பமானது;
கன்னி கருவுற்றது அதிர்ச்சியை அளித்தது!

அந்தப்புரத்தில் ஆடவன் ஒளிந்திருந்தது
தந்தை பாணனுக்குச் சினத்தை அளித்தது!

கன்னியைக் கருவுறச் செய்தவன் போனான்
கண்ணிமைக்கும் நேரத்தில் சிறைச்சாலை!

தன் மகனைத் தேடி வருந்தி இளைக்கும்
தன் மகனிடம் கூறினாள் ருக்மிணிதேவி

சதுர்த்தி விரதத்தின் மகிமையைகளை!
அது புரியும் வியத்தகு விளைவுகளை!

சதுர்த்தி விரதம் செய்தான் பிரத்யும்னன்
அது வரவழைத்தது ஸ்ரீ நாரத முனிவரை!

பாணன் அநிருத்தனைச் சிறை செய்ததை
காணாது மகனைத் தேடுபவனுக்குக் கூற;

அளவற்ற சினத்துடன் போரிட்ட கண்ணன்,
களவுமணத் தம்பதியரை மீட்டு வந்தான்!

பிரிந்தவர் சேர்ந்ததும் பெருகியது இன்பம்,
விரத மகிமையினை உணர்ந்தது உலகம்!

19f. BaaNaasuran

Pradyumnan searched for his missing son Aniruddhan everywhere but could not trace him. The secret wedding came to broad daylight when Usha became pregnant. The happiness of secret love was followed by the public shame of the pregnancy of an unwed girl.

When BaaNaasuran knew that the man responsible for this was hiding in his palace, he became very angry and put Aniruddhan in prison. Rukmini Devi told her son Prathyumnan who was madly searching for his missing son Aniruddhan the greatness of the Chathurthi vratham.

Pradyumnan performed Chathurti vratham. Narada appeared there and told them that BaaNaasuran was holding Anirudhdhan as a prisoner. Krishna waged a war with BaaNaasuran and freed Aniruddhan from the prison.

Usha and Aniruddhan were brought home by Krishna. There was joy everywhere now that the family members got united after a long separation. Once again the greatness of the Chathuti Vratham was proved to the world.

20a. கிரௌஞ்ச மலை.



படையுடன் சென்ற முருகனுக்குத்
தடையாக நின்றது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை.

சரியான சமயத்தில் வந்தார் அங்கே
திரிலோக சஞ்சாரியாகிய நாரதர்.

“குறுமுனி சாபம் பெற்றது இம்மலை.
நிறைந்த வஞ்சகம் கொண்டது இது.

தாரகன் என்னும் சூரன் தம்பி-மலைச்
சாரலில் உள்ளான் மாயாபுரியில்!

ஆனைமுகம் கொண்டவன், பலவான்,
ஆழிப்படையையே அணிந்திருப்பவன்.

தம்பி உடையான் படைக்கு அஞ்சான்.
தாரகனை ஒழித்தால் சூரனை அழிக்கலாம்!”

நல்ல யோசனையைக் கூறினார் நாரதர்;
வெல்லும் வழியை வெளிச்சம் இட்டார்.

வீரபாகுவுக்குக் கந்தனின் ஆணை இது,
“சூரன் தம்பியை வென்று வருவாய்!”

நூறு ஆயிரத்து ஒன்பது வீரர்களுக்கும்
தேர்கள் செய்தான் தெய்வத் தச்சன்.

பூதங்கள் சென்று நுழைந்தன நகரில்,
பூதங்கள் பொருதனர் அவுணர்களுடன்!

தூதர்கள் விரைந்தனர் செய்தியுடன்,
தாரகனிடன் உரைத்தனர் விரிவாக.

செய்தி கேட்ட தாரகன் சீறினான்,
“மெய்யாகவே நம்மை வெல்லுவானா?”

ஆணை இட்டான் படைகளைத் திரட்ட.
ஆனை முகத்தான் ஏறினான் தேரினில்.

சுழன்றன குடைகள்,வெண்சாமரங்கள்;
ஒலித்தது வலம்புரியும், போர்முரசும்;

ஆனை, குதிரை, தேர், படைகளுடன்
ஆனைமுக அசுரன் நகர் நீங்கினான்.

கடலோடு கடல் கலந்தது போல அங்கு
படையோடு படை கலந்து பொருதது.

குருதியாறு பொங்கிப் பெருகியது!
பெருத்த சேதம் இரு படைகளுக்கும்.

Urpaththik KaaNdam

1 (#20 A) THE MOUNT KROUNJAM

The Krounja giri obstructed Murugan’s advancing army. Narada appeared there and told Murugan about the Krounja giri.

“This Krounja giri has been cursed by sage Agasthya. It is full of tricks and black magic. Soorapadman’s younger bother Thaarakan lives in Maayaapuri situated near the mountain.

He is elephant-faced. He is very powerful. He wears Vishnu’s Sudharshan as his neck ornament. If you defeat Thaarakan, then winning over Soorapadman will become a child’s play!”

Murugan agreed eagerly to defeat Thaarakan. He ordered the eldest nava sakthi kumaran Veerabaahu to defeat Thaarakan in a war. The divine carpenter got the chariots ready for all the warriors in an instant!

The army promptly left for Maayaapuri, entered the city and started fighting the asuras. Messengers fled to inform Thaarakan about the army of Murugan.

Thaarakan became very angry. He ordered his army to get ready for the war immediately.
He went to the war front with the chathuranga sena. The armies moved in as if two oceans were merging. A violent battle ensued. Soon a river of blood started to flow since there was a heavy loss of warriors on both the armies engaged in the battle.
 
தேவி பாகவதம் மூன்றாம் ஸ்கந்தம்

3#21c. நகர முற்றுகை

ஒலித்தன வாத்திய முழக்கங்கள் காசியில்;
ஒலித்தன சங்குகள், வேதங்கள் காசியில்.

“கணம் தாமதியாமல் முற்றுகை இடுவோம்;
மணம் நடந்தது உண்மை தான்!” என்றனர்.

வந்தான் சுபாஹு மன்னர்கள் அருகில் மெல்ல,
“வரவேண்டும் திருமண விருந்து உண்பதற்கு!

வஞ்சிக்கவில்லை நான் உங்கள் எவரையும் – மகள்
கிஞ்சித்தும் விரும்பவில்லை இந்தச் சுயம்வரத்தை.

வரித்து விட்டாள் சுதர்சனனைத் தன் மணாளனாக;
வரித்து விட்டாள் சுதர்சனனை தேவியின் ஆணையால்.

வரித்து விட்டாள் சுதர்சனனைக் காணும் முன்னரே;
வரித்து விட்டாள் சுதர்சனனை உறுதியான மனதுடன்.

கருணை காட்டுங்கள் புதிய மணமக்கள் மீது;
பெருமையுடன் வாழ நன்கு வாழ்த்துங்கள் !”

“நீர் செய்த இந்த மரியாதைக்கு குறைச்சல்
நீர் தரும் விருந்தை உண்பது தான் போம்!

செய்யும் நீர் இன்னும் செய்ய வேண்டியவற்றை;
செய்வோம் நாங்கள் செய்ய வேண்டியவற்றை!’

என்ன செய்வார்களோ என்றஞ்சினான் சுபாஹு;
சென்றான் தயங்கியபடி தன் அரண்மனைக்கு.

“வெளியே வந்து தானே ஆகவேண்டும் அவர்கள்
வழி மறித்துக் கவர்வோம் கன்னியை நாம்” எனக்

காவல் பலமானது காசி நகரக் கோட்டைக்கு!
காற்றுக் கூடச் செல்லமுடியாது வெளியே!

முற்றுகை இட்டிருந்தனர் மன்னர்கள் காசி நகரை;
சற்றும் குறைவின்றி நடந்தது திருமண விருந்து.

3#21c. The Siege

The kings could hear the sound of auspicious musical instruments, conches, and Veda gosham. They knew that the marriage has taken place secretly during the night. They decided to lay a siege on the city on Kaasi.

King Subaahu approached the other kings and said in a gentle voice, “Please come and attend the wedding feast arranged in your honor. I did not want to cheat you but my daughter would not agree for the swayamvaram arranged without her consent.

She had chosen Sudarsanan as her husband long ago, as told by Devi, even befoer she saw him or knew him. Have pity on the newly weds and let them start their lives peacefully and happily. Please bless them and attend the wedding feast”

The Kings were very rude and said, “After the way you have deceived all of us what makes you think we will attend the feast and bless the couple.You may do whatever you feel right. We will do what we feel right”

Subaahu got worried as to what would be the outcome of such an anger and threat from the kings. He returned to his palace quietly.

“The newly wed coupe will have to leave this city sooner or later. We will waylay them and abduct the princess at that time!” The siege was intensified so that even air could not enter or leave Kaasi.

While the siege was on, the wedding feast went on in Kaasi undisturbed and undeterred.
 
விநாயக புராணம் (1)

 20a. ஆதிசேஷன்

கயிலாய நாதனைக் காண வந்த தேவர்கள்
மெய்யன்போடு தொழுதனர் ஈசன் உமையை.

இடத்தால் கிடைத்த உயர்வால் ஆதிசேஷன்
சடைமேல் இருந்து அடைந்தான் கர்வம்!

கர்வம் கொண்டால் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனை!
சர்வமும் அறிந்துள்ள பெருமான் அளிப்பார்.

கையால் பற்றி இழுத்தார் கைலாய நாதர்;
மெய்வருந்த ஓங்கி அடித்தார் தரையில்.

ஆயிரம் பிளவுகள் ஆகிவிட்டது அவன் சிரம்.
போய் விழுந்து மயங்கிவிட்டான் தரையில்!

திரிகாலஞானி, திரிலோக சஞ்சாரி நாரதர்
பரிவுடன் கேட்டார் ” சேஷா! என்ன ஆயிற்று?”

அவரை நிமிர்ந்து பார்க்கவில்லை ஆதிசேஷன்;
அவருக்கு ஒரு பதிலும் கூறவில்லை அவன்.

ஞானக் கண்ணால் கண்டார் நடந்தவற்றை
ஞானம் புகட்டினார் நாரதர் ஆதிசேஷனுக்கு!

“இடத்தால் கிடைக்கும் பெருமையினால்
அடையக் கூடாது மனதில் பெரும் கர்வம்!

கொடுத்தவன் இந்தப் பெருமையை ஈசனே!
விடக் கூடாது இந்த நினைவை என்றுமே!

விக்கினங்கள் நீக்குபவர் நம் வினாயகர்;
விரதம் அனுஷ்டிப்பாய் நீ சதுர்த்தியன்று.

ஷடாக்ஷரம் ஓதியபடித் துதித்து வந்தால்
சர்வலோக நாயகன் புரிவார் திருவருள்”

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM (1)

20a. Aadhiseshan

When Deva came to Kailash they paid obeisance to Siva and Uma. Adhiseshan who was on the matted coils on Siva’s head also got worshiped by this act. He felt proud that he too got respected by all.

Siva read his thoughts. Siva loves to nip the pride in the bud. He pulled out Aadiseshan from his head and smashed his head on the ground. The head broke into one thousand shreds and Adhiseshan fell faint.

Narada went by and asked him what had h append. Aadiseshan was filled with shame and did nor reply to him.

Narada told him, “We should not feel proud when we get lifted to place of honor. We must remember that it is also a gift of God and remain grateful to him always. Only Lord Vinayaka can remove all your trouble. Worship him and pray for his grace!”

20b. தாரகனுடன் போர்.

அண்டம் குலுங்கும் வண்ணம் தாரகன்
தண்டத்தை எடுத்துப் போர் புரிந்தான்;

பூதப் படைகளின் கணைகள் அவனுக்கு
ஏதும் தீது விளைவிக்கவில்லை விந்தை!

நூறு ஆயிரம்பேரையும் வாரி எடுத்து
நீரில் வீழும்படிக் கடலில் வீசினான்.

ஒன்பது வீரரும் சினம் கொண்டனர்.
ஒன்பதின்மருடன் ஒரு மாயப்போர்.

தாரகன் சென்று ஒளிந்து கொண்டான்
கிரௌஞ்ச மலையின் ஒரு குகையில்;

துரத்தி வந்த வீராபகுத்தேவரும் அங்கு
உறங்கலானார் மலை செய்த மாயத்தால்!

தேடிவந்த தம்பிகள் குகையில் நுழைய
ஓடியது அறிவு; தழுவியது உறக்கம்!

பூதப் படைத் தலைவர்களும் குகையில்;
பூதங்கள் அஞ்சிப் புறமுதுகிடலாயினர்.

நாரதர் விரைந்தார் திரு முருகனிடம்,
“தாரகன் செய்கிறான் மாயப் போர்!

படைத் தலைவர்களும், ஒன்பதின்மரும்
கிடக்கின்றனர் குகையில் உறக்கத்தில்!”

“அஞ்ச வேண்டாம் கொஞ்சமும் நீங்கள்!
க்ரௌஞ்சத்தைப் பிளந்து அவரை மீட்பேன்.

தாரகனைப் இப்போரிலே வெல்லுவேன்!”
தேரினில் ஏறினான் வாயுதேவனுடன்;

முருகனைக் கண்டதும் திரும்பின பூதங்கள்;
மறுபடிப் போர் தொடர்ந்து நடந்தது.

அவுணர்கள் பலர் அழிந்து போயினர்.
அவுணர்கள் பலர் புறமுதுகிட்டனர்.

KANDA PURAANAM - URPATHTHI KAANDAM

1 (# 20 B) WAR WITH THAARAKAN

Thaarakan charged wildly, wielding his Vajra dhandam, making the whole world tremble. The arrows and asthras shot by the Siva ganas did not deter him at all.

He grabbed the hundred thousand warriors and tossed them into the sea. The nava sakthi kumaaraas became very angry. Thaarakan decided to use a different tactics now.

He ran and hid himself in a cave in the Krounja giri. Veerabaahu went looking for him and fell into deep slumber-due to the effect of the tricky mountain.

The other eight brothers and the hundred and eight commanders came in search of him and they all fell asleep.

Without a commander, the army of the ganas started running aimlessly and away form the battle field. Narada who was closely watching the events rushed to report them to lord Murugan.

Murugan decided to go to the war front himself. He sat on the chariot driven by Vayu Devan and reached Maayaapuri in no time. The ganas took courage at the sight of Murugan and returned to the battle field.

Now it was the turn of asuras to lay dead and many of them fled away from the battle field.
 
தேவி பாகவதம் - மூன்றாம் ஸ்கந்தம்


3#22a. போர் தொடங்கியது

நடந்தது திருமண விருந்து மிகவும் சிறப்பாகத்
தடங்கல் இன்றித் தொடர்ந்து ஆறு நாட்களுக்கு.

அமைச்சர்களிடம் சுபாஹு ஆலோசனை கேட்டான்
“அமைந்த முற்றுகையை எதிர்கொள்வது எப்படி?”

உற்சாகமாக உரைத்தான் மணமகன் சுதர்சனன்,
“உதவுவாள் பராசக்தி ஆபத்துக் காலங்களில்!

சென்று விடுவோம் பரத்வாஜரின் ஆசிரமம்;
ஒன்றும் நேராது தீங்கு நமக்கு!” என்றான்.

பொன், பொருள், படை வரிசைகள் திரட்டித்
தன் தாய், மனைவியுடன் ஏறினான் ரதம்.

கண்டான் கோட்டை வாசலை நெருங்கியதும்
மண்டியிருந்த மன்னர்களின் முற்றுகையை!

அடையவில்லை சிறிதளவும் பிராண பயம்;
தடையின்றி ஜெபித்தான் காம பீஜ மந்திரம்.

வெறியுடன் முன்னேறியது மன்னர்கள் படை!
வெறியுடன் எதிர்த்தான் மன்னன் சுபாஹு !

பயங்கரப் போர் மூண்டது படைகளிடையே
பாய்ந்தன பாணங்கள் எதிரெதிர் திசைகளில்.

தியானத்தில் இருந்தான் சுதர்சனன் – சுபாஹு
“நியாயமாகப் போரிட வேண்டியவன் நீ!” எனச்

சிங்க வாஹனத்தில் தோன்றினாள் மஹாதேவி
சிவந்த ஆடை, ஆபரணங்கள், மாலையணிந்து!

அஞ்சினர் மன்னர்களின் படைவீரர்கள் – அங்கு
கொஞ்சமும் எதிர்பாராது தோன்றிய பெண்ணால்.

“துணை புரிய வந்துவிட்டாள் நான் தொழும் தேவி!
இணையில்லை தேவிக்கு எந்தப் படையும்!” என்றான்.

3#22a. The war began!

The wedding feast went on uninterrupted for six long days. Subaahu asked his ministers, “How do we face the siege laid on our city of Kaasi?”

Sudarsanan replied with great enthusiasm,”Paraa Shakti helps us during the dangers. We can safely reach sage Bharatwaaj’s ashram. No harm will befall us I assure you!”

Sudarsanan gathered his army, all his wedding gifts and sat on the chariot with his mother and his bride. When he came near the city gates, he saw the dense siege laid on the city by the kings.

He never felt threatened or that his life was in danger. He started to do japam of Devi’s Kaama Bheeja mantram.

The collective army of the kings attacked with anger. King Subaahu also fought with great anger. He was shocked to see Sudarsanan immersed in meditation in the battle field.

He took his son in law to task and told him, “You are the one who should be fighting now – not me”

Then Mahaa Devi appeared in the battle field on her simha vaahanam. She was dressed in red silk, red ornaments and red garlands. The army men of the kings got the shock of their lives to see a woman in red appear suddenly seated on a lion.

Sudarsanan was happy and said, “Devi has come to our rescue. No army can match her in its might”

 20b. ஆதிசேஷன்

பிரவாள நகரம் சென்றான் ஆதிசேஷன்,
விரதம் அனுஷ்டித்தான் பயபக்தியுடன்.

சித்தி, புத்தி தேவியர்களுடன் விநாயகர்
சிங்க வாகனத்தில் தோன்றி அருளினார்.

சிரம் தாழ்த்தி வணங்கினான் ஆதிசேஷன்;
பிரார்த்தித்தான்,” என்னைக் காத்தருளும்!”

“கர்வத்தால் இழந்து விட்ட உன் சக்திகள்
சர்வமும் உன்னை வந்தடையும் மீண்டும்!

தரையில் அடித்ததால் ஏற்பட்ட பிளவுகள்
சிரங்களாக மாறிவிடும் இப்போது முதல்.

தாங்கி வருவாய் ஆயிரம் தலைகளுடன்
தரணியை முன் எப்போது போலவே நீ!

ஈசன் சடை மீது ஐந்து தலைகளுடன்
இருந்து வருவாய் நீ எப்போதும் போல.

இன்னமும் நீ மாறுவாய்! இனி எனது
இனிய உதர பந்தனமாகவும் ஆவாய்!

விஸ்வரூபம் எடுத்தார் விநாயகபிரான்!
வயிற்றைச் சுற்றி அணிந்தார் அவனை.

விநாயகர் அருளால் இழந்தவைகளை
வெற்றியுடன் பெற்றான் ஆதிசேஷன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
VINAAYAKA PURAANAM (1)

20b. Aadhiseshan

Aadhiseshan went to the City called PravaaLa and observed the Chathurti vratham. Vinayaka appeared to him accompanied by Siddhi Devi and Buddhi Devi on Simha vaahana. Aadhiseshan prayed to him, “Please save me!” Vinayaka blessed him and said,

“You will regain all that you have lost due to your pride. The thousand shreds of your head caused when it was smashed on the ground will become thousand heads. You will carry the world on your heads as before. You will be on Siva’s jada as a five headed snake. You will become my Udhara bandhan also now!”

He took viswarropam and tied Aadiseshan around his waist. Adiseshan was happy to get back his lost powers and become the udhara bandan of Vinayaka.

20c. சொற்போர்.

ஆறு பூரண சந்திரவதனங்களைக் கண்டு
தாரகன் கேட்டான், “இவனா சிவகுமரன்?”

சிவனுக்கும், எனக்கு பகை இல்லையே!
அவன் மகன் என்னை எதிர்ப்பது ஏன்?”

“தேவர்களைச் சிறை இட்டீர்கள் நீங்கள்,
தேவர் பிரான் ஆணைப்படி வந்தேன்!”

“கருட வாஹனன் திருமால் உருளை-என்
கழுத்தணி ஆன கதையை அறிவாயா?”

“மாலின் உருளை அணிகலன் ஆகலாம்!
வேலின் சக்தியை நீயும் அறிவாயா?’

கடும் போர் துவங்கி பாணங்கள் பறந்தன.
கொடும் பாணங்கள் மயங்கின அசுரனை.

மயக்கம் தீர்ந்து எழுந்தான் மீண்டும்;
தயக்கம் இன்றி முருகன் மீது அவன் எய்த

விஷ்ணு அஸ்த்திரம், பிரம அஸ்த்திரம்
விழுந்து வணங்கிப் பின் ஒதுங்கி நின்றன.

சிவ அஸ்த்திரத்தை எடுத்துத் தொடுக்க,
சிவகுமரனைச் சேர்ந்து நின்றது அது!

“சிறுவன் என எண்ணினேன் இவனை!
குறும்புத்தனமாகவே வென்றிடுவானோ?

இனி உதவிடும் மாயப் போர் முறைகள்.
தனித்து நின்றாகிலும் நானே வெல்வேன்!”

கிரௌஞ்ச மலையிடம் கட்டளை இட்டான்;
“சிரமம் இன்றி வெல்ல மாயைகள் செய்வாய்!

முப்புரங்களாக வந்தது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை,
அப்புரங்களில் அவுணன் ஆனான் அவன்.

முகில் வடிவு எடுத்து வந்தது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை,
முகிலில் இடியாக மறைந்து வந்தான் அவன்!

கடல் வடிவு எடுத்து வந்தது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை.
கடலினுள் வடவாக்னி ஆக வந்தான் அவன்.

இருள் வடிவு எடுத்து வந்தது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை,
இருளில் பூதமாக உறைந்து வந்தான் அவன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
KANDA PURAANAM - URPATHTHI KAANDAM

1 (# 20 C) THE WAR OF WORDS.

Thaarakan saw the boy whose six faces resembled six full moons!

“Is he Siva’s son? I have no enmity with Siva. Then why has he come to fight with me?”

“You have imprisoned Devas and Apsaras. I came here as ordered by my father”

“Do you know that I am wearing the Sudarshan of Vishnu as pendent in my neck?”

“Vishnu’s Sudharshan may become your pendant, but it is time you realised the power of my spear!”

A terrible war ensued. Arrows whizzed through the air. Thaarakan fainted in the battle field. He came around a little later.

He shot Brahma’s asthram and Vishnu’s asthram on Murugan. They paid their respects to Murugan and stood by his side.

Thaarakan shot Siva’s asthram on Murugan. It went right into his hand-ready to be used by him.

Thaarakan got frightened for the first time. “I thought he was just a child but he may win over me in a child’s play. Now it is time to resort to magic.”

He ordered the Krounja giri, “Do various tricks and help me win the war.”

The mountain transformed into Tripuram. He came hiding as an asura in it.

The mountain transformed into a huge cloud. He came hiding in it as the thunder.

The mountain transformed into an ocean. He came hiding as the vadavaagni in it.

The mountain transformed into darkness. He came hiding in it as a demon.

3#22b. வெற்றி முழக்கம்

எழுந்தது ஹூம் என்ற சிங்கத்தின் கர்ஜனை!
விழுந்தன யானைகள் அஞ்சி உயிர் இழந்து!

பெருமூச்செறிந்தது தேவியின் சிங்கம்,
பெரும் புயலானது அதன் மூச்சுக் காற்று.

எட்டு திசைகளிலும் சுருட்டி வீசியது
எதிரியின் படைவீரரைப் புயல் காற்று.

“எங்கே என்னை எதிர்க்க வந்தவர்கள்?” என
அஞ்சி நடுங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர் அரசர்கள்.

யுதாஜித் சினந்தான் மற்ற மன்னர்களிடம்,
“யுத்தத்தில் பெண்ணைக் கண்டு அஞ்சுவதா?

அழிப்போம் மணமகனை அடியோடு – கூடிக்
களிப்போம் மணமகளுடன் அனைவரும்!”

எடுத்தாள் மஹாதுர்க்கை பல வடிவங்கள்;
தொடுத்தாள் சரமழையை எதிரிகள் மீது.

கொன்று விட்டாள் யுதாஜித், சத்ருஜித்தை!
வென்றுவிட்டது சுதர்சனனின் சிறிய படை!

தக்க தருணத்தில் வந்து உதவிய தேவியை
மிக்க பக்தியுடன் வணங்கினான் சுதர்சனன்.

போற்றினான் தேவியை நாவாரத் துதித்து,
“பெற்றுக் கொள் நீ விரும்பும் வரங்களை!”

தேவி கூறினாள் அளவில்லாத கருணையுடன்;
தேவியிடம் பெற்றான் சுதர்சனன் வரங்களை!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
