வேதங்களின் சாரமே தேவி பாகவதம் – தரும்
வேத பாராயணப் பலனைத் தேவி பாகவதம்!

புன்மையும், மேன்மையும் கலந்தே உள்ளன!
நன்மையையும், தீமையும் கலந்தே உள்ளன!

அழிக்க முடியாது புன்மைகளை முற்றிலும்;
அழிக்க முடியாது தீமைகளை முற்றிலும்.

விலக்கி வைக்க முடியும் புன்மைகளை!
விலக்க முடியும் வருகின்ற தீமைகளை!

கவசமாக இருந்து காப்பாள் உலக அன்னை
தவறாமல் அவளை உன்னும் அன்பர்களை!

தாயிடம் செலுத்தும் அன்பையே விரிவாக்கி
தாயினும் சிறந்த தேவியிடம் செலுத்துவோம்.

கண்ணை இமைபோல் காப்பாள் அவள் நம்மை!
எண்ண இயலாத அற்புதங்களை நிகழ்த்துவாள்!

“உண்டு!” என்றால் அவள் உண்டு! உண்டு!
“இல்லை!” என்றால் அவள் இல்லை! இல்லை!

“உருவம்!” என்றால் அவளுக்கு உண்டு உருவம்;
“அருவம்!” என்றால் அவள் ஒரு வெறும் அருவம்.

“சகுணை!” என்றால் அவள் ஒரு சகுணை!
“நிர்குணை!” என்றால் அவள் ஒரு நிர்குணை!

கருணை மிக்க தாய் மாயையாக இருந்தால் என்ன?
கருணையால் அகற்றுவாள் மாயையை அவளே!

மாயையை அகற்ற வல்லவள் மஹாமாயை அவளே!
சேயைப் போல் காப்பாள் சேவடி பணிபவரை அவளே!

இரு பாதங்களே துணை தேவி!
பிறவா வரம் தருவாய் தாயே

பிறந்தாலும் உன் திருவடிகளை
மறவா வரம் தருவாய் நீயே!

விநாயக புராணம் (1)


19b. ரதியும், மதனும்

யோக நிஷ்டையைக் கலைக்கச் சென்று
கோப அக்னியில் எரிந்து போனான் மதன்.

செய்தி அறிந்த ரதிதேவி ஓடோடிவந்தாள்
செய்வது அறியாமல் சிவபெருமானிடம்.

“தேவர்களின் வற்புறுத்தலுக்கு இணங்கி
தேவரீர் மீது பாணம் எய்தான் மன்மதன்.

பாவம் எதுவும் செய்து அறியாத எந்தன்
பதியை சம்ஹரித்தது நியாயமா ஈசா?

எனக்கு இந்த ஈன கதியினை அளித்திட
எங்ஙனம் மனம் வந்தது பெருமானே!”

மனம் கனிந்தான் பெருமான் உடனேயே.
மகள் அனைய ரதியிடம் சொன்னான்,

“மன்மதன் உயிர்த்து எழுவான் இப்போதே
தென்படுவான் உன் கண்களுக்கு மட்டுமே!

உருவம் இல்லாதவன் போலவே அவன்
அருவமாக இருப்பான் பிறகண்களுக்கு!”

எழுந்தான் மன்மதன் மீண்டும் உயிருடன்
விழுந்தான் ஈசனின் கால்களில் உடனே!

“அச்சம் கொண்ட தேவர்களுக்கு உதவிட
அச்சத்துடன் செய்தேன் நான் அபசாரம்.

இழந்த சக்திகளைப் பெற்று மீண்டும் நான்
பழையபடி ஆவதற்கு அனுக்ரஹிப்பீர் !”

“ஐங்கரனை சிந்தையில் நிறுத்துவாய்!
பங்கம் இன்றி அனுதினம் ஆராதிப்பாய்!

வந்தடையும் சகல சக்திகளும் முன்போல்.
முந்தைய ஆளுமை மீளும் உயிர்கள் மேல்”

ஏகாக்ஷரத்தை உபதேசித்தான் பெருமான்;
ஏக மனத்துடன் தியானித்தான் மன்மதன்;

ஆராதித்தான் கணபதியை மாயூரத்தில்
ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் ஓடி மறைந்தன.

VinAyaka PurANam (1)

19b. Rati and Manmathan

Manmathan went to Kailash to deviate Lord Siva’s mind from Yoga to Bhoga and got burned down to ashes in that process. Rati Devi came running to Lord Siva shedding streams of tears.

“My husband never wanted to disturb your yoga nishta, but all the Deva forced him to do that. Now you have burned him down to ashes. How can you put me in this state of despair my Lord? My husband has never harmed anyone till now.”

Siva’s heart melted with sympathy and he told Rathi Devi, “Do not worry my child! Manmathan will come back to life right now. But he will be visible only to your eyes! He will be invisible to all the other eyes”

Manmathan came back to life immediately and fell on Siva’s feet. “I was afraid to do abachaaram, but I had to help the Deva. Please pardon my crime oh Lord!! Please tell me how I can get back all my original powers “

Siva told him, “Establish your mind on Vinayaka and chant his mantras. Only he can give you back your powers and your ability to control all the living creatures”

Siva taught him Ekaaksharam. Manmathan went to Mayooram and concentrated of Vinayaka chanting the Ekaaksharam taught by Lord Siva for one thousand years.

கந்த புராணம் உற்பத்தி காண்டம்


17b. பிரணவம்

பூதங்கள் சென்று விடுவித்தன பிரமனை;
பூதங்கள் கொணர்ந்து நிறுத்தின பிரமனை;

“நான் முகனே! மிகவும் வருந்தினீரா நீர்
என் மகன் சிறையில் இட்டதால் வாடி?”

“ஆணவம் ஒழிந்தேன் சிறைப்பட்டதால்.
தீவினை தொலைந்து தூயவன் ஆனேன்.”

“வழக்கம் போல் படைத்தல் செய்வாய்!”
வணங்கிய பிரமனை வாழ்த்தி அனுப்பினான்.

மகனை வாரி மடியில் அமர்த்திக்கொண்டு,
“மகனே! நீ அறிவாயா பிரணவத்தை?

நான்முகன் அறியாத அம்மறை பொருளை
நான் அறியும் வண்ணம் எடுத்துக் கூறு!”

“மறைபொருளை மறைவாகக் கூற வேண்டும்.
பிறர் அறியும் வண்ணம் பகரலாகுமா?

குருவாக என்னை அமர்த்திச் சீடனானால்
உரைப்பேன் நான் பிரணவத்தின் பொருளை”

முருகன் குருவானான்! பிரான் சீடனானான்!
பொருளை உரைத்தான் பிரான் செவியில்.

கயிலை திரும்பினார் கண்ணுதற் பெருமான்.
கந்த வெற்பில் கந்தனும் அவன் படையும்.

Kanda PurANam 1 (Urpathik kANdam)

1 (# 17b). SIVA AND PRANAVA.

Some of the ganas released Brahma and brought him to Siva.
“Did you suffer much in my son’s prison Oh Brahma?” Siva asked the Brahma.

“No sire! The imprisonment helped me to overcome my pride and ego. I have become a purer person now”

Siva blessed Brahma,”You may now resume your duty as the creator”
He then placed Murugan on his lap and asked him, “You imprisoned Brahma since he did not know the meaning of Pranava. Do you know the meaning my dear son?”

“Sire! Surely I know the meaning of Pranava. But it should not be revealed in public. If you will make me your guru and you become my disciple, I will reveal its scared meaning”

Siva assumed the posture of a humble disciple and Murugan sat as the guru. He explained Pranava to Siva’s delight.

Siva was pleased and went back to Kailash. Murugan and his army stayed back in Kanda Verpu.

தேவி பாகவதம் மூன்றாம் ஸ்கந்தம்

3#20b. யுதாஜித்

“அறிவற்ற மன்னனே! என்ன சொல்கின்றாய்?
வரச் சொன்னாய் இச்சா சுயம்வரத்துக்கு இங்கு!

பரிசுகள் பெற்றுக் கொண்டு திரும்பக் சொல்கின்றாய்
பரிசுகள் ஏற்கவா வந்துள்ளோம் நாங்கள் இங்கு?

வந்த காரியம் நடக்காமல் திரும்ப மாட்டோம்;
சொந்த மகளின் சுயம்வரத்தை நீ நடத்துவாய்!

பலமிக்க எங்களைப் புறக்கணித்து விட்டு
பலமற்ற பராரியைத் தேர்வு செய்வீர்களா?

என்றோ கொன்றிருப்பேன் சுதர்சனனை!
இன்று வரை விட்டு வைத்தது என் தவறு!

அழைத்து வா உன் மகளை இப்போதே இங்கு!
பிழைத்துப் போ சத்ருஜித்துக்கு மணம் செய்வித்து!

சம்பந்தியாக விரும்பவிலை என்னுடன் என்றால்
சம்பந்தம் செய்து கொள் வேறொரு மன்னனுடன்.

விடவே மாட்டோம் சுதர்சனனை மணம் புரிந்திட!
உடனே வரச் சொல் உன் மகளை மண்டபத்துக்கு!”

செய்வது அறியாத சுபாஹு கூறினான் ராணியிடம்,
” தெய்வம் தான் காக்க வேண்டும் குழப்பத்திலிருந்து!”

ராணி கூறினாள் பேணி வளர்த்த மகளிடம்,
“ராணியாக வாழ்வாய் மன்னனை மணந்து!

கலகம் நடக்காது மன்னனைத் தேர்வு செய்தால்;
கலகம் நடக்கும் சுதர்சனனை மணந்துகொண்டால்!”

சசிகலா மாறவில்லை தன் மன உறுதியில்;
ரசிக்கவில்லை அவளுக்கு அன்னையின் கூற்று.

“ரகசியமாக மணம் செய்வித்து எங்கள் இருவரையும்
ரகசியமாக வெளியேற்றிவிடுங்கள் இங்கிருந்து!

எது நடந்தாலும் சமாளிப்போம் நாங்கள்;
எம்மால் உமக்குத் துன்பம் வராது” என்றாள்.

3#20b. Yudaajit

Yudaajit spoke to Subaahu in a threatening voice,”Oh foolish king! What do you say now? You invited all of us for the ichchaa swayamvaram of your daughter. Now you tell us to accept you gifts and go back quietly. We won’t go back until the purpose of our visit is fulfilled.

Tell your daughter to come here immediately. Ignoring all the powerful kings you wish to select a weakling. I should have killed him along ago – when I had a chance. It is my fault that he is still walking on the earth.

You may live without fear after marrying your daughter to my grandson Satrujit. If you do not want to become my sambandhi, go and select any one of the kings here. It is not going to be Sudarsanan at any cost!”

Subaahu was upset with the turn of the events. He told his queen in a troubled tone, “Only Devi can save us now!”

The queen spoke to her daughter now.”Marry a king and become a queen . There will be no problem for anyone if you select a king. But if you select Sudarsanan there will be problem for everyone of us”

Sasikala did not like her mothers advice. She begged to her mother, “Please get us married secretly and leave us at the outskirts of the city. We will somehow manage to escape from the enemies. We will not bring you any misfortune!”

19c. பிரத்யும்னன்

ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் கழிந்த பின்னர் ஐயன்
ஆயிரம் ஆதவர்கள் போலத் தோன்றினார்.

“என்ன விரும்புகிறாய் மன்மதா நீ கூறு!
என்னை தியானித்த காரணத்தைக் கூறு!”

“தாருகனை அழிக்கத் தோன்றவேண்டும்
ஏறுமயில் வாஹனன் நம் ஈசனிடமிருந்து!

யோகத்தில் அமர்ந்துவிட்ட ஈசனை நான்
போகத்தில் செலுத்துவது எளிதானதா?

பஞ்ச பாணங்களை எய்தேன் ஈசன் மீது!
பஞ்சாக எரிந்தேன் பார்வை பட்டபோது!

உயிர்ப்பிச்சை தந்துவிட்டார் உடனேயே
உருவத்தை இன்னும் பெறவில்லை நான்!

இழந்த சக்திகளை மீண்டும் தரவேண்டும்
இழந்த உருவை மீண்டும் பெறவேண்டும்”

“நிறைவேறும் உன் கோரிக்கை விரைவில்;
நிறைவெய்துவாய் முன்போலத் திறனில்.

கண்ணன் ஆவான் மண்ணில் நாரணன்.
கண்ணன் மகன் ஆவாய் நீயும் மன்மதா!

முன் போலவே அடைவாய் இழந்துவிட்ட
உன் சக்தியையும், அழகிய உருவையும்!”

மன்மதன் எடுத்தான் ஆலயம் அங்கே;
மகோற்கட வினாயகரை அமைத்தான்;

கண்ணன் ஆனான் மண்ணில் நாரணன்.
காலம் கனிந்தது குறைகள் நிறைவெய்த!

பிரிய ருக்மிணியிடம் தோன்றினான் மகன்
பிரத்யும்னன் என்கின்ற அழகிய மன்மதன்.

VinAyaka PurANam (1)

19c. Pradyumnan

Manmathan meditated on Vinaayaka for one thousand years. Vinaayaka appeared as one thousand suns shining together. He blessed Manmathan and asked him, “What do you wish for? Please tell me!”

“Taarukan has to be destroyed. Only Siva’s son can do it. Siva is in Yoga. I was ordered to change his interest from Yoga to Bhoga. I aimed my flower arrows at him. But his fiery glance burned me down. I was resurrected immediately but I am yet to regain my original form and my powers.”

“You will regain your powers and your original form very soon. Vishnu will take avatar as Krishna very soon. You will be born as his son Pradyumnan. Then you will regain your form and all your powers as before.”

Manmathan became happy with this boon. He built a temple there for VinAyaka. He established a Vinaayaka there and did ArAdanA.

When Vishnu appeared as Krishna on earth, Manmathan was born as his son Pradyumnan to Rukmini Devi.

18a. இரு சகோதரிகள்.

கந்த வெற்பில் இருந்தான் கந்தன் படையுடன்;
சுந்தர புருஷனை மணக்க விரும்பினர் இருவர்.

அமிர்தவல்லி சுந்தரவல்லி என்னும் அழகியர்,
அறி துயில் மாலின் அருமைப் புதல்விகள்;

“சரவணபவனே எங்கள் கணவனாக வேண்டும்!”
சரவணப் பொய்கையில் செய்தனர் தவம்;

மங்கையர் செய்த அத்தவத்தை மெச்சி
கங்கையின் மைந்தன் கண் முன் தோன்ற;

“அடியோங்கள் வரித்தோம் தங்களையே!
கடிமணம் புரிந்து எமக்கு வாழ்வளிப்பீர்!”

அமிர்தவல்லியிடம் கூறினான் கந்தன்,
“அமிர்தம் அருந்தும் இந்திரன் மகளாவாய்!

காலம் கனிந்ததும் நாடி வந்து உன்னையே
ஞாலம் போற்றக் கடிமணம் புரிவேன்!”

கந்தன் கூறினான் சுந்தரவல்லியிடம்,
மாந்தருள் மாணிக்கம் சிவமுனி மகளாகி,

வேடர்குல மன்னனிடம் வளர்வாய் நீ!
வேண்டியபடி வந்து வதுவை புரிவேன்”

அமிர்தவல்லி அழகியதொரு சிறுமியாகி
அமரர் கோனிடம் சென்றாள் மேருவுக்கு.

“உன்னுடன் தோன்றிய உபேந்திரன் மகள்
என்னை நீ வளர்த்து வரவேண்டும்!

அன்புடன் ஏற்றான் இந்திரன் சிறுமியை,
ஐராவதத்திடம் வளர்க்கச் சொன்னன்.

தெய்வங்களின் யானை வளர்த்ததால்
தெய்வயானை என்னும் பெயர் பெற்றாள்.

சுந்தரவல்லியும் கந்தன் ஆணைப்படியே
அந்தக் கணம் சென்றாள் தொண்டை நாடு.

1 (# 18 A). THE TWO SISTERS

Skandan was living on the kanda verpu with his army. Two sisters wished to marry him. They were Amirthavalli and Sundaravalli – the daughters of Vishnu.

They did severe penance in Saravanap poigai. Skanda was pleased with their penance and appeared in front of them.

The two sisters expressed the purpose of their penance.
“Sire! We wish you marry you. Please grant us our wish!”

Skanda told Amirthavalli,”Go to Indra and grow up as his daughter. I will marry you when the time is right.”

He told Sundaravalli,” You become the daughter of Sivamuni and grow up among the hunters. I will marry you when the right time approaches.”

Amirthavallli became a beautiful young girl and went to Indra. She told him, ” I am the daughter of your brother Upendran. You must take care of me.”

Indra accepted the girl and appointed airavatm to take care of her. She grew up with the name Deivayaanai. Sundaravalli went to Thondai Naadu.

தேவி பாகவதம் மூன்றாம் ஸ்கந்தம்

3#20c. சசிகலையின் யோசனை

சம்மதிக்கவில்லை சுபாஹு சசிகலையின் யோசனைக்கு;
“நிம்மதியான சூழ்நிலையில் நடப்பவையே திருமணங்கள்.

ஒழுங்கு படுத்த வேண்டும் விரோதங்களை முதலில்.
எழும் பல புதிய பிரச்சனைகள் விரோதம் நீடித்தால்.

திருமண நடந்த கையேடு தெருவில் இறக்குவதா?
தீங்கு செய்யலாம் வந்துள்ள அரசர்கள் ஒன்று கூடி.

பந்தயம் வைக்கின்றேன் ஜனக மன்னன் போல.
பந்தயத்தில் வெல்பவனே உனது மணவாளன்.

கல்யாணமும் நடக்கும்; கலகமும் விளையாது;
சொல்வதைக் கேள் என் கண்மணி!” என்றான்.

“பந்தய சுயம்வரத்தில் பரிசுப் பொருள் நானா?
வஞ்சகங்கள் நடக்கலாம் இந்தப் பந்தயங்களில்!

முந்திக் கொள்ளலாம் நான் நீ என்று அரசர்கள்.
முந்துபவர்களுக்குள் மூளாதா கலகம் ஒன்று?

தந்து விட்டேன் என் மனத்தை சுதர்சனனுக்கு.
தரமாட்டேன் மணமாலையை மற்றவனுக்கு.

‘இன்று போய் நாளை வாருங்கள்’ என்று,
மன்றாடுங்கள் அரசர்கள் முன்பு சென்று.

ரகசியமாகத் திருமணம் முடித்து விடுங்கள்
இரவோடு இரவாக எங்கள் இருவருக்கும்!

சென்று விடுகின்றோம் நாங்கள் ரதம் ஏறி;
அன்னை பராசக்தியின் அருள் பெற்றவர்;

ஆபத்து வந்தால் ஆதரித்து உதவுவாள்
அனுதினம் அவர் ஆராதிக்கும் பராசக்தி.

அமங்கலம் நிகழாது தேவியின் அருளால்;
அச்சம் கொள்ள வேண்டாம் தந்தையே!”

Devi BhAgavatam Third Skanda

3#20c. Sasikala’s scheme

King Subaahu did not agree to Sasikala’s suggestion. He knew that weddings were meant to be performed in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere. First of all, he had to discourage and sort out the enmity of the kings. If their enmity continued, fresh problems would arise.

He could not forsake his daughter and her husband soon after their wedding and place their lives at risk. The kings might join hands and trouble the newly wedded couple.

He told his daughter, “I will arrange for a Swayamvaram with a contest. Who ever wins in the contest will become your husband. This way the wedding will go on peacefully and there will be no threat from the assembled kings”

Sasikala did not agree to his suggestion. “Am I a mere object to be won in a contest? Do my wish and will have no value at all? Many tricks may be played and rules may be bent or broken in a contest. The kings may want to the first to try their luck and that may lead to disturbance among the kings.

I have presented my heart to Sudarsanan. I can’t present the wedding garland to another man. Please request all the kings to go back today and come tomorrow.

Perform our wedding tonight and we will go away on a chariot. If there will be trouble on our way, the Devi whom he worships with ardent devotion will help us out of that danger. No harm can befall us. Pleas do not worry unnecessarily dear father!”

Sasikala tried to infuse courage and confidence in her father King Subaahu.

19d. சம்பரன்

தனக்கே வேண்டும் ரதி என்ற ஆசையால்
தவித்தான் பலநாட்கள் அசுரன் சம்பரன்.

தனித்து இருந்த அபலைப் பெண்ணைக்
கனிபோலக் கவர்ந்து சென்றான் சம்பரன்.

ஆகாய மார்க்கமாக அசுரன் செல்கையில்
ஆகத்தியம் செய்து நழுவினாள் ரதி தேவி.

விடுவித்துக் கொண்டு விழுந்தாள் நீரில்!
விழுங்கிவிட்டது ஒரு கடல்மீன் அவளை!

கடல் முழுவதும் குடைந்து தேடிய போதும்
கிடைக்கவில்லை ரதிதேவி சம்பரனுக்கு.

ரதிதேவியை விழுங்கிய மீன் ஒருநாள்
அதிசயமாக மீனவன் வலையில் சிக்கியது.

ஜொலித்த அந்த மீனைப் பிடித்த மீனவன்
அளித்தான் காணிக்கையாக சம்பரனுக்கு.

மீனின் வயிற்றை அறுத்தபோது அதில்
மானின் கண்ணுடைய பெண் இருந்தாள்.

இறைவன் அளித்த தன் அன்பு மகளாகக்
குறைவின்றி வளர்த்தான் ரதியை அசுரன்.

மனைவி ஆக்கிக் கொள்ள விரும்பியவள்
மகளாக வளருவதை அறியவே இல்லை.

நாரத முனிவர் அறியாத ரஹசியமா?
நாரத முனிவர் புரியாத கலகங்களா?

பிரத்யும்னனிடம் சென்று சொன்னார்
பிரிய மனைவி சம்பரனின் மகள் என்று!

ரதி தேவியை மீட்டு வரப் போருக்கு

19d. Sambaran

Sambaran was an asuran. He fell madly in love with Rathi Devi and wished to possess her. Now that Rathi was all alone by herself he dared to kidnap her and take her to his abode.

Rathi Devi struggled to break free from his hold. She slipped and fell down into the sea below. A big fish swallowed her whole immediately. Sambaran searched for Rathi but could not find her. He went back to his place very disappointed.

The fish got caught in a net one day. The fisherman was stunned by the glow of this unusual fish. He thought it was best to present it to Sambaran. When the fish was cut open, a lively doe eyed girl was found inside the fish.

Sambaran accepted her as the gift of God in the form a lovely daughter. He never realized that it was the same Rathi Devi he wished to possess as a wife. The girl was brought up with love and care by Sambaran.

Narada knew that the lovely girl was none other than Rathi Devi. He went to Pradyumnan who was the reincarnation of Manmathan and told him about Rathi Devi.

Pradyumnan decided to free her from Samabaran. He led and army and left for a battle with Sambaran immeditaly.

18b. முறையீடு, புறப்பாடு

கந்தன் மீண்டான் கயிலையங்கிரி
தந்தை, தாயுடன் அரியணை அமர.

இந்திரன், நான்முகன், திருமாலுடன்
சென்றனர் கயிலை எஞ்சிய தேவர்கள்;

நந்தி பெற்றான் அண்ணலின் அனுமதி,
இந்திரன் முதலோர் அண்ணலைக் காண.

“அவுணர்களால் துன்புறுகிறோம் யாம்,
சிவனார் அறியாததல்ல இவ்வுண்மை;

ஜயந்தனும், தேவரும், அரம்பையரும்,
கயவன் சூரபத்மன் சிறையினுள்ளே.

எப்போது தீரும் எங்கள் துயரம்?
எப்போது இரங்கும் தங்கள் இதயம்?”

பெருமான் கூறினான் மகன் முருகனிடம்,
“பெருவலிவுடன் உலகை வாட்டிடும்

சூரபத்மனை நீ அழித்திட வேண்டும்.
வீரர்கள் படையினை நடத்திட வேண்டும்.”

பதினொரு ருத்திரர்களையும் வரவழைத்து
படைக்கலங்கலாக மாற்றினார் அவர்களை!

தோமரம், கொடி, வாள், குலிசம், கணை,
தாமரை, தடி, வில், மழு, அங்குசம், மணி!

வேற்படை ஒன்றை உருவாக்கினார் பிரான்,
வேலவன் என்னும்படி கந்தனுக்குத் தந்தார்.

ஐம்பெரும் பூதங்களையும் அழிக்க வல்லது.
ஐயமின்றி படைக்கலங்களுள் மிக வலியது.

நூறாயிரம் வீரர்களுக்கும் படைக்கலங்கள்,
ஈராயிரம் வெள்ளம் பூதங்களும் தந்தார்.

ஆறுமுகன் செல்வதற்கு அற்புதத் தேர் ஒன்று
நூறாயிரம் குதிரைகள் பூட்டி மனோவேகத்தில்.

போருக்குப் புறப்பட்டார் குமரக் கடவுள்,
போரில் வெல்ல வாழ்த்தினர் பெற்றோர்;

பெருவீரர்கள் அனைவரும் பெற்றனர் ஆசிகள்,
திருமுருகனுடன் சென்றனர் அமர்க்களம்.

Kanda PurANam (Urpathik kAndam)

1 ( # 18 B). THE PLEA AND THE PREPARATION.

Skanda went to Kailash and was sitting with Uma and Siva. All the Devas gathered under the leadership of Brahma and Vishnu. They went to Kailash. Nandi Got Siva’s permission and took them in.

Indra begged for mercy,”My son Jayanthan, Devas and apsaras are all imprisoned by Soorapadman. You promised to rid us of these problems. When will happen? How long should we continue to suffer?”

Siva told Skandan, “Soorapadman has become invincible. You must put an end to him soon with the help of your army”

Siva made the eleven Rudraas appear in front of him and converted them to eleven aayudhams for Skanda.

Siva created a spear. It was superior to every other weapon. It could destroy even the pancha boothas.

தேவி பாகவதம் மூன்றாம் ஸ்கந்தம்

3#21a. திருமணம்

மாற்றமுடியாது மகள் மனதை என்ற உண்மை
மாற்றிவிட்டது தந்தை சுபாஹுவின் மனத்தை.

விரைந்தான் மன்னர்கள் கூடி இருந்த சபைக்கு;
உரைத்தான் மன்னர்களிடம் பணிவாக இதனை.

“சுயம்வரம் நடை பெறும் இன்றல்ல, நாளை.
சுயமாக வரிப்பாள் சசிகலை தன் கணவனை.

தங்கியிருங்கள் உங்கள் விடுதிகளில் – இரவு
எங்கள் விருந்தை உண்டபின் இளைப்பாறிட!”

சந்தேகித்தனர் சில மன்னர்கள் இதனை – நாற்
சந்திகளில் நிறுத்தினர் தமது காவலர்களை.

‘என்ன நடக்குமோ மறுநாள் மண்டபத்தில்?”
என்ற சிந்தனையிலேயே கழிந்தது இரவு,

வேதியரை வரவழைத்தான் சுபாஹு- அவர்கள்
ஓதினர் மந்திரங்களை ரகசியமான இடத்தில்.

முறைப்படி நடந்து முடிந்தது திருமணம்;
சிறப்பான பரிசுகள் தந்தான் மணமகனுக்கு.

மகிழ்ச்சியில் பூரித்தாள் அன்னை மனோரமை;
நெகிழ்ச்சியில் ஆழ்ந்தனர் மந்திரி, பிரதானிகள்

சீர் வர்சைகள் தந்தான் சுபாஹு மகளுக்கு
ஓர் இழிவும் எவரும் கூற இயலாதவாறு!

கரிகள் இருநூறு, ஒட்டகங்கள் முன்னூறு
பரிகள் இரண்டாயிரம், ரதங்கள் இருநூறு,

தாசிகள் நூற்றுவர், சேவகர் நூற்றுவர்,
தானிய வகைகள் இருநூறு வண்டிகள்.

“குறையேதும் உண்டோ?” சுபாஹு வினவிட,
“நிறைவே அனைத்தும் குறைவில்லை எனக்கு!

நாட்டையிழந்து காட்டில் வசிப்பவனுக்கு
காட்டினீர்கள் நீங்கள் நல்ல வழி இன்று!”

அன்னை கூறினாள் அரசன் சுபாஹுவிடம்.
தன் மனம் மகிழ்ந்தாள் மணக்கோலம் கண்டு.

3#21a. The wedding

The fact that his daughter’s mind could not be changed, changed the mind of King Subaahu. He went to the gathering of the kings and made this announcement.

” The swayamvaram will take place as planned tomorrow instead of today. Please go back to your camps to take rest after enjoying the royal feast arranged for you. My daughter will select her husband tomorrow as originally planned.”

Many kings did not believe this statement. They kept their guards in all the crossroads to keep a vigilant watch over all the movements.

The king Subaahu got the priests to perform the wedding as per the saastraa in a secret place. The wedding was performed in secrecy.

King Subaahu presented his son in law Sudarsanan with many rich gifts. Two hundred elephants, two hundred chariots, three hundred camels, two thousand horses, one hundred women servants, one hundred men servants and two hundred carts loaded with food grains were presented to Sudarsanan by Subaahu.

He then asked queen Manorama, “Is her anything lacking in my gifts? The queen relied, “I have no complaints sir! You have done a good deed by presenting your daughter to my son – a prince without a kingdom – living in a forest.”

விநாயக புராணம் (1)

19e. ருக்மிணியின் விரதம்

போர் நடந்தது பல நாட்கள் தொடர்ந்து;
போர் நீடித்தது வெற்றி தோல்வி இன்றி!

போருக்குச் சென்ற தன் மகனை எண்ணித்
தீராத கவலை கொண்டாள் ருக்மிணி தேவி.

“குமாரனுக்குத் துன்பம் விளையக் கூடாது!”
உமாஸுதனை அவள் வணங்கி வேண்டினாள்.

சதுர்த்தி விரதத்தை மேற்கொண்டாள் – அங்கு
அது நிகழ்த்தியது போரில் அற்புதங்களை.

மந்த நிலை மாறிவிட்டது ஆறாவது நாள்
வந்த வேலை முடிந்தது பிரத்யும்னனுக்கு.

கொன்றான் போரில் சம்பரன் அசுரனை.
அன்பு மனைவி ரதியை மீட்டு மணந்தான்.

அழகிய ஜோடிக்குப் பிறந்த குழந்தை தான்
அநிருத்தன் என்னும் ஆண்களுள் அழகன்!

கண்டாள் பாணன் மகள் அவனைக் கனவில்;
கொண்டாள் தீராத மையல் அவன் மீது!

உடலை வாட்டி வருத்தியது விரக தாபம்;
உதவிக்கு வந்தாள் பிரிய சகி சித்ரலேகா.

தூங்கும் அநிருத்தன் தருவிக்கப் பட்டான்;
ஏங்கும் உஷையின் அந்தப்புரத்திற்கு!

கண் விழித்த அநிருத்தன் வியந்தான் அழகிய
கன்னி ஒருத்தியின் அறையில் இருந்ததால்.

ஆறாக் காதலை அவனிடம் உஷை கூற,
ஆட்கொண்டு அருளினான் அநிருத்தன்.

இன்ப சாகரத்தில் திளைத்தனர் இருவரும்,
இரகசியமாக அந்த அந்தப்புரத்திலேயே!
