#44 g. Ripunjayan

After Swaayambu Manu passed away, the monsoon rains failed for sixty thousand years. Draught and famine afflicted the whole world. Cities were deserted and kingdoms disappeared. A good ruler was the need of the hour - to protect the earth from further deterioration and destruction.

Ripunjayan was a good king. He was doing penance on Lord Siva in Kasi for a very long time. Brahma thought that Ripunjayan was the only king qualified to rule the earth well and save it from complete destruction.

He approached Ripunjayan and explained to him thus, " In the absence of a good ruler, the country suffers. To remove the drought and the famine, you must rule over the earth as its emperor. Aadhiseshan will marry his beautiful daughter Ananga Mohini to you. You will become famous as Divodaasan. The earth and all its inhabitants will remain eternally grateful to you!"

Ripunjayan gave a reply which no one could have expected including Brahma. "I agree to your requests but you must agree to my requests. I will rule the world as an emperor only if all the Deva go away from the city of Kasi"

Brahma had no choice and accepted the strange condition. He then went to Kasi to have a darshan of Viswanaatha.

 
#44 h. மந்தரகிரி

மந்தரகிரி தவம் செய்தது சிவனைக் குறித்து;
மந்தர கிரிக்கு அருளச் சென்றார் சிவபிரான்.

உடன் சென்றனர் சிவகணங்களும், பிரமனும்;
கடும் தவம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார் மரீசியும்!

அளித்தார் சிவபிரான் மரீசிக்கு வரங்களை;
அளித்தது மந்தரமலை தன் விண்ணப்பத்தை!

"தேவர்கள் சூழக் காசியில் வசிப்பது போலவே,
தேவரீர் எழுந்தருள வேண்டும் என்னிடத்திலும்."

பிரமன் குறுக்கிட்டான் தக்க தருணத்தை நோக்கி;
பிரமன் தெரிவித்தான் ரிபுஞ்ஜயன் கோரிக்கையை!

"தேவர்கள் வெளியேற வேண்டுமாம் காசியிலிருந்து!
தேவரீர் ஏற்கவேண்டும் மந்தரத்தின் கோரிக்கையை!"

மந்தர மலையில் எழுந்தருளினான் பரமசிவன்,
மந்தரத்திலேயே தங்கி விட்டன சிவகணங்கள்.

ரிபுஞ்ஜயன் முடி சூடினான் சக்கரவர்த்தியாக;
ரிபுஞ்சயன் மணந்தான் அனங்க மோகினியை.

அளித்தான் ஆதிசேஷன் அளவற்ற ஐஸ்வர்யம்;
அளித்தான் ரிபுஞ்ஜயன் உலகில் ஒரு நல்லாட்சி.

"கங்கையில் ஸ்நானம் செய்யமுடியவில்லை.
காசி விஸ்வநாதரைத் தரிசிக்க முடியவில்லை"

வருந்தினர் தேவர்கள் இவற்றை எண்ணி எண்ணி.
குரு பிரஹஸ்பதியிடம் கேட்டனர் நல்ல உபாயம்.

"நல்லாட்சி புரிகின்றான் சக்கரவர்த்தி ரிபுஞ்சயன்;
நம்மால் மீறமுடியாது நாமே அளித்த வரத்தினை.

குளறுபடிகள் செய்ய முடியும் அளித்த வரத்தில்
குறைபாடுகள் அவன் ஆட்சியில் தோன்றினால்!"

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#44 h. Mandara Giri

Mandara Giri did penance towards Lord Siva. He went to bless the Mandara Giri. The Sivaganaas as well as Brahma accompanied him. Sage Mareechi was also doing penance on that mountain.

Lord Siva blessed Mareechi with the boons he wished for! Mandara Giri made its wish known to Lord Siva, "I wish you would live here surrounded by the Deva just as you live in the city of Kasi'

Brahma used this opportunity to convey the condition laid by Ripunjayan's to Siva. Brahma told Lord Siva, "Ripunjayan has agreed to rule over the world and in return all the Deva must leave Kasi. It is better that you accept the invitation of Mandara Giri." Siva agreed and stayed on there. The Siva ganaas also stayed back there.

Ripunjayan became the chakravarti of the earth. He married Ananga Mohini. Aadhiseshan presented him with rich gifts and unlimited wealth. He ruled the earth well adhering to dharma.

Deva felt crestfallen since they could not have Ganga snaanam any more nor have dharshan of Kasi Viswanaathar. They went to their kulaguru Bruhaspati and asked him for an idea to break the boons given to Ripunjayan.

Bruhaspati told them, "Ripunjayan is ruling well and we can't break the boons given to him now. If there is any confusion or adharma, then we can go back in our promise."


 
#44 i. தவ வலிமை

அக்னி தேவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டான் இந்திரன்,
"இனி நுழைக்கக்கூடாது காசி நகரில் நீ!" என்று.

"அக்னி இன்றி யாகம் ஏது? யக்ஞம் எது?" என
முனிவர் தவித்தனர், பணிகளில் தடங்கலால்!

தேவர்களின் சூழ்ச்சியை அறிந்தான் ரிபுஞ்சயன்,
"தேவையில்லை வீண் அச்சம் முனிபுங்கவர்களே!

அக்னியாகவும், சூரியனாகவும், தேவர்களாகவும்
அத்தனை காரியத்தையும் செய்கிறேன் நானே! "

தவ வலிமையால் தகர்த்தான் சூழ்ச்சிகளை.
தவித்தனர் தேவர்கள் காசிக்குச் செல்வதற்கு.

எண்பதாயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் கழிந்தன இவ்வாறு.
தன்பதிக்குத் திரும்ப விரும்பினர் சிவபிரான்.

வரங்களை உடைக்கவேண்டும் எனில் முதலில்
வர வேண்டும் நாட்டில் பலவிதக் குழப்பங்கள்!

தேவர்கள் முயன்றனர் குழப்பம் விளைவிக்க;
தேவர்கள் தோற்றனர் தங்கள் முயற்சிகளில்.

யோகிகளை உண்டாக்கி அனுப்பினார் சிவன்;
யோகிகளும் தோற்றனர் தங்கள் முயற்சியில்.

விநாயகரால் முடியாதது இல்லை எனப் பிரான்
விநாயகரிடம் தெரிவித்தார் உள்ளக் கருத்தை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#44 i. The power of penance

Indra ordered to Agni,"Do not enter the city of Kasi!" The sages got worried since they could not perform yaagaa or yagnaas without agni.

Ripunjayan understood the trick played by the Deva and came forward to play the part of Agni, Sooryan and all the other Deva so that the yaagaa and yagna could undisturbed, as before.

He had earned so much power through his penance and adherence to dharma that this could go on for eighty thousand long years!

The Deva were desperate to get back to Kasi. Siva himself wanted to return to Kasi. They wanted to break the boons given to Ripunjayan. For doing that, first they had to create confusion in Kasi.

The Deva went to Kasi and tried to create confusion and failed badly. Siva created Yogis and sent them to create confusion in Kasi. They too failed in their mission miserably.

Now it was clear that only Vinayaka - for whom nothing was impossible - could create confusion in Kasi. Siva told Vinayaka his plans and ideas.


 
#44j. அனாசாரம்

சிறுவனாக உருவெடுத்தார் விநாயகர்.
சிரமம் இன்றி நுழைந்தார் காசி நகரில்.

பயங்கரக் கனவுகளைத் தோற்றுவித்தார்;
பரிஹாரம் கூறி வென்றார் நம்பிக்கையை.

"காசிக்கு நெருங்குகிறது ஆபத்து!" என்றார்.
"கனவுகள் தோன்றிடக் காரணம் அதுவே!"

பேசியது கேட்டு வெளியேறிவிட்டனர் பலர்
போகாதவர்கள் வாழ்ந்தனர் திகிலில் மூழ்கி!

வந்தன தடங்கல்கள் தினசரி வேலைகளில்.
எந்தக் காரியமும் நிகழவில்லை சரியாக.

மன்னன் இருந்தான் குழம்பிய மனத்துடன்,
மன்னனைத் தேற்றினாள் மகிஷி லீலாவதி!

"ஜோசியன் ஒருவன் வந்துள்ளானாம் இங்கு,
பேசுகின்றான் மூன்று காலங்களையும் பற்றி!"

அழைத்து வந்தனர் விநாயக ஜோசியரை;
அளித்தனர் ஆசனம்; செய்தனர் உபச்சாரம்;

"குழப்பம் இன்றி நடந்த என் ஆட்சியில்
குழப்பம் விளைகிறது இப்போது நாட்டில்.

ஆபத்து நேருமா? என் ஆட்சி முடியுமா?
தாபத்தை நீக்கி உண்மையை கூறுங்கள்!"

"பதில் தருவான் இந்தக் கேள்விக்கு இங்கு
பதினேழாம் நாள் வந்து சேரும் அந்தணன்!"

மகா தேவன் அனுப்பினர் காசி மாநகருக்கு
மகாவிஷ்ணுவையும், மஹாலக்ஷ்மியையும்.

அநாசாரத்தைப் பெருக்கச் சொன்னான் சிவன்
அலாதி முயற்சி செய்தனர் இருவரும் சேர்ந்து.

யாகத்தைப் பழித்தார் விஷ்ணு ஆண்களிடம்;
போகத்தை வளர்த்தாள் லக்ஷ்மி பெண்களிடம்.

கற்புத் தன்மை குறையச் செய்தாள்.- மேலும்
மற்ற ஆண்களிடம் சுகம் தேடச் சொன்னாள்!

#44j. Perversions

Vinayaka became a young boy and entered the city of Kasi easily. He made the people there get terrifying nightmares. He told them the suitable parihaaram and easily won their confidence very soon.

He told the people of Kasi, "Terrible things will happen to Kasi soon. These nightmares indicate that!" Many people left Kasi, fearing the imminent danger. Those who could not leave the city lived in constant fear.

Many hurdles developed in the daily activities. Nothing seemed to happen in perfect order. The king Ripunjayan got worried about these sudden developments.

His queen Leelaavathy told him about the boy-astrologer who predicted everything accurately and knew the past as well he did as the future.

Vinayaka - the boy astrologer- was brought before the king Ripunjayan. The king told the boy, "My rule had gone on till now without a hitch. Suddenly everything seems to be going wrong. Is it an omen for the future or is my rule coming to an end?"

The boy astrologer told the king, "A Brahmin will come to Kasi on the seventeenth day from today. He will answer your questions"

Meanwhile Siva sent Vishnu and Lakshmi to spread confusion and cause perversion in the minds of the people. Vishnu spoke ill of the yaagaa and Yagna to the men folk. Lakshmi told the women that there was no need to remain chaste and that it was perfectly alright to seek pleasure in the company of the other men.
 
#44 k. திவோதாசன்

பட்டணம் முழுவது சுற்றினார் விஷ்ணு;
பதினேழாவது நாள் சென்றார் அரசனிடம்.

ஜோசியர் கூறிய அந்தணன் அவரே என
ஆசையுடன் வரவேற்றான் ரிபுஞ்ஜயன்.

யோகபலத்தால் அறிந்து கொண்டான்,
லோகநாதனே தன்னிடம் வந்தார் என.

"அஞ்ஞானம் மறைந்தது தரிசனத்தால்;
மெய்ஞானம் பிறந்தது என் சித்தத்தில்.

தடுத்தேன் தேவர்கள் காசிக்கு வருவதை;
பகைத்தேன் தேவர்களைக் காரணமின்றி!

விநாயகர் வித்திட்டார் அறியாமை விலகிட.
அநாயாசமாகத் தீர்த்துவிட்டார் பகையை.

அறியாமல் செய்த பிழையை மன்னியுங்கள்;
சரியான பரிஹாரம் தெரிவியுங்கள்" என்றான்.

சுயவுருவைக் காட்டினார் விஷ்ணு மூர்த்தி;
தயவுடன் மன்னித்து அவனை வாழ்த்தினார்.

"மந்தர கிரியில் தங்கி இருக்கும் சிவபிரான்
சொந்தத் தலமான காசியை விழைகின்றார்.

தெரியாமல் செய்த பிழைகள் மறைந்துவிடும்
விரும்பும் காசியை தேவர்களுக்கு அளித்தால்!"

காசி நகரை அளித்தான் சிவபிரானுக்கு - தன்
ஐசுவர்யத்தில் ஒதுக்கினான் ஒரு பகுதியை.

ஆலயம் எழுப்பி, ஆராதனைகள் செய்தான்;
அரசாட்சி செய்து, அரன் திருவடி சேர்ந்தான்.

#44k. Divodaasan

Vishnu roamed in the city of Kasi and went to the king Ripunjayan on the seventeenth day. The king welcomed him heartily, knowing that it was the Brahmin the astrologer had spoken about.

He also knew that it was none other than Vishnu who had come to meet him as a Brahmin. He spoke in all humility,"I got enlightened by your divine dharshan. My ignorance had vanished now.

I stopped the Deva from entering Kasi and made them my enemies. Vinayaka made it possible that my ignorance got removed and the seed of knowledge was planted. Please pardon my thoughtless actions and tell me how I can make up for my faulty behavior"

Vishnu was very pleased with him and showed himself in his true glory. He told Ripunjayan, " Lord Siva wishes to return to Kasi. If you allow the Deva to enter Kasi all your wrong actions will be pardoned"

Ripunjayan welcomed Siva and the Deva into Kasi. He spent half of his wealth in building temple for Siva and doing aaraadhana regularly. He ruled well for a long time and merged with Siva when his time came to leave this world.
 
#45 a. மரீசி

பிரமனிடம் கேட்டான் அவர் மகன் மரீசி,
"பரம்பொருள் என்பவர் உண்மையில் யார்?

முத்தொழில் புரியும் மும்மூர்த்திகளின்
உத்தமமான தலைவன் யார் தந்தையே?"

"மும் மூர்த்திகளைப் படைத்தவர் விநாயகர்;
முத்தொழில்களை அளித்தவரும் விநாயகர்.

முழுமுதற் கடவுள் ஆவார் விநாயகர் - அண்டம்
முழுவதும் வியாபித்து இருப்பவர் விநாயகர்."

பக்தி பூண்டார் மரீசி விநாயகப் பெருமான் மீது;
மிக்க அன்புடன் தவம் புரிந்தார் விநாயகர் மீது.

காட்சி தந்தார் கனிவுடன் விநாயக பெருமான்,
"கேட்பாய் மரீசி நீ விரும்பும் வரங்களை!" என

"பார்வதி தேவி பிறக்க வேண்டும் என் மகளாக;
ஆர்வத்துடன் தரவேண்டும் அவளை உமக்கே!"

அனுக்ரஹம் செய்து அருளினார் விநாயகர்;
அங்கிருந்து மறைந்து அருளினார் பின்னர்.

சத்தியலோகம் திரும்பினார் மரீசி - தான்
சாதித்துப் பெற்ற வரங்களைக் கூறினார்.

வேதவல்லி என்ற கன்னியைப் படைத்தான்;
வேதநாயகன் மணம் செய்வித்தான் உடனே!

#45 a. Mareechi

Mareechi was Brahma's son. He ashed Brahma one day, "Who is the supreme among all the gods? Whose commands do the Trimoorthis obey?"

Brahma replied," Vinayaka created the Trimoorthis and gave them their jobs of creation, protection and destruction. He is the supreme among all Gods. He is the one who pervades all the universe."

Mareechi became a sincere devotee of Vinyaka and did severe penance on him. Vinayaka was pleased and appeared before him to grant the boons desired by Mareechi.

Mareechi wished that Parvati Devi must be born as his daughter and she must be presented to Vinayaka by him. Vinayaka granted those boons and dis appeared.

Mareechi went back to Satyalokam and told Brahma about the boons he has got from Vinayaka. Brahma was happy to hear them. He created a beautiful girl named Vedavalli and got her married to Mareechi immediately.

 
#45 b. சக்தி

கயிலையில் இருந்தனர் சிவனும், பார்வதியும்;
"இயங்குவது எங்கனம் அண்ட சராசரம்?" எனத்

தேவி கேட்டாள் நாதன் சிவபெருமானிடம்.
தேவிக்கு அதை விளக்கினார் சிவபெருமான்.

"தேவி! சகல காரியங்கள் நிகழ்வதற்குத்
தேவை நிமித்தம், துணை, உபாதானம்!

இவை மூன்றும் இன்றி எதுவும் நிகழாது.
இவை மூன்றுமே இன்றியமையாதவை!

நிமித்தம் நான்; துணை என்பது என் சக்தி;
நீ அறிந்த மகாமாயை ஆவாள் உபாதானம்.

சக்தி என்பது என் துணைவியாகிய நீயே!"
சக்தி கர்வம் கொண்டாள் இதைக் கேட்டு.

"நான் தான் சக்தி என்பது உண்மையானால்
நானே ஆகிறேன் தங்கள் உடலும் உயிரும்.

அசைகின்றன உலகங்கள் என் அசைவால்!"
ரசிக்கவில்லை சிவனுக்குத் தற்பெருமை.

"அறிவாய் நீ என்னுடைய சக்தியை எனினும்
பெருமை பேசினாய் உன் சக்தியை என்முன்!

காட்டுகிறேன் என் சக்தியை இப்போதே - நிலை
நாட்டுகிறேன் நான் இன்றி எதுவுமே இல்லை."

சக்திகள் அனைத்தையும் ஒடுக்கினார் சிவன்;
சந்திரன், சூரியன், அக்னியுடன் ஒடுங்கினர்

இரவு, பகல் பேதமின்றி இருள் கவிந்தது.
உறங்கியது உலகம், உறங்கினர் தேவர்.

நின்று போயின நிகழ்வுகள் அனைத்தும்;
நின்று போயின அன்று எல்லாம் எங்கும்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#45 b. Shakti

Siva and Parvati were in Kailash. Devi asked Siva, "How does the Universe function?" Siva explained to her thus,

"Devi! For anything to take place we need these three factors namely Nimiththam, ThuNai and Upadaanam. I am the Nimiththa kaaraNam for everything. You Shakti form the Thunai and Mahaamaya is the Upaadaanam."

Shakti became very proud on hearing these words. "If I am the Shakti and the ThuNai, then I am your body and power. The whole world moves because I move"

Siva did not relish her words nor her boasting about her power. He told her rudely, "Knowing very well about my power, you have spoken so proudly about yourself. I shall withdraw all my powers from the universe and prove that without me nothing can ever move"

He withdrew all his powers from the Universe. The Sun, The moon and Agni disappeared completely. There was no distinction between the day and the night and darkness covered the entire universe.

The whole world slept on. The Deva slept on. Every activity came to a grinding halt everywhere immediately.



 
#45 c. பரிஹாரம்

தேவி நடுங்கினாள் தன் தவற்றை உணர்ந்து;
தேவி பணிந்தாள் இறைவனின் பாதங்களை.

"ஆணவம் கொண்டு பேசிவிட்டேன் ஸ்வாமி!
அடியாள் பிழை பொறுத்தருள்வீர் தயவுடன்!"

தோற்றுவித்தார் பதினோரு கோடி ருத்திரரை;
போற்றித் துதித்தனர் அவர்கள் அவரை இரவில்.

திருவிடைமருதூரில் நான்கு கால பூஜையில்,
தரிசனம் தந்தார் பரமேஸ்வரன் மனமகிழ்ந்து.

"தடையின்றித் தொடர வேண்டும் பணிகள்;
தயைகூர்ந்து அருள வேண்டும் தாங்கள்!" என,

ஏற்றுக் கொண்டார் கோரிக்கைகளைச் சிவன்
ஏற்றமும் அளித்தார் சிவராத்திரிக்குச் சிவன்.

நித்திரையில் இருந்து விழித்து எழுந்த தேவர்
சக்தி பெற்றுச் செய்தனர் தத்தம் பணிகளை.

"நியமங்களில் தவறி விட்டோம் சக்தியின்றி;
நீக்கவேண்டும் தோஷத்தைப் பரிஹாரத்தால்!"

"தவறு இழைத்தவர்கள் நீங்கள் அல்லவே!
தவறு செய்யாதவர்களுக்கு தண்டனை ஏது?

தேவியின் ஆணவத்தை அடக்க விரும்பினேன்;
தேவிக்கு உணர்த்த என் சக்தியை ஒடுக்கினேன்!"

தேவி உணர்ந்தாள் பரிஹாரம் என்பதைத்
தேவர்கள் அல்ல, தான் செய்யவேண்டும்!.

"இருள் கவிந்தது என்னுடைய தவற்றால்;
அருள் கூர்ந்து சொல்லுங்கள் பரிஹாரம்!"

#45c. Parihaaram

Parvati realized her folly and apologized to Siva. Lord Siva created eleven crore Rudraas. They did elaborate four kaala puja in the temple at Thiruvidai Marudoor that night. Siva was very pleased with their puja. He gave them his dharshan

The Rudraas prayed, "The universe must be active as before. Please grant our prayer". Siva accepted their prayer and made the world active as before. The Deva got up from their deep sleep and went about their usual business.

They came to Siva and prayed to him,"We failed in our prescribed duties. Please tell us the parihaaram to be done by us."

Siva replied to them, "You did not do anything wrong and so there is no need for you to do any parihaaram. Devi spoke with self pride. i wanted to prove to her the truth and withheld my power. "

Now Parvati realized that it was not the Deva but she herself who had to do the parihaaram. She prayed to Siva, "Please tell me the parihaaram to be done by me, to rectify my mistake"

I have been longing to read and learn all the puraanaas but when I read they

slipped off my mind easily. When I sit and convert them into simple Tamil

poems, they make deeper impression in my mind. So I am actually learning

new things and also helping others know them /revise them.

But Vinayaka Puraanam is completely new to me. I just got a book on this

puraanam in January 2013 and started writing this series on the Pongal day.

By a rare coincidence this puraanam gets completed on 4th October - the

beginning day of Dasara. Another rare coincidence is that the next puranam

Venkatesa Puraanam will be started on the very next day 5th October, which

also happens to be the first day of the Brahmothavam this year.
 
#45 d. வல்லபை

"யமனோடு தோன்றியவள் யமுனை நதி;
யமுனா தீரத்தில் வசிக்கிறார் மரீசி ரிஷி.

நதியில் தாமரையாக மலர்ந்து இரு,
நதியில் அவர் நீராட வரும் போது!

கண்டு உன்னைஅவர் நெருங்கும்போது
பெண் குழந்தையாக நீயும் மாறி விடு!

அன்புடன் பேணுவார் முனிவர் - உன்னை
ஆனைமுகன் வடிவில் கைப் பிடிப்பேன்!"

அகன்றாள் கயிலையில் இருந்து தேவி;
அமர்ந்தாள் அம்புய மலர் மீது நதியில்.

வெண் சங்கு உருவெடுத்து தவத்தில்
ஒண்டாமரை மலர் மீது இருந்தாள்.

புனித நீராட யமுனை நதிக்கு வந்தார்
முனிவர் தம் மனைவி, சுற்றத்தோடு.

ஒண்டாமரை ஒளி கண்ணைப் பறித்தது;
வெண்சங்கின் ஒளி கருத்தைப் பறித்தது.

தண்ணருள் கண்டு வியந்தார் முனிவர்
வெண்சங்கு குழந்தையாக மாறியபோது!

அளித்தார் மனைவிக்கு அன்புப் பரிசாக;
வளர்த்தனர் நற்பண்புடன் வல்லபையாக.

"கைலாசபதியைக் குறித்துத் தவம் செய்ய
செய்வீர் தகுந்ததொரு தவச்சாலை" என்றாள்.

அமைத்தார் மரீசி மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் தவச்சாலை;
அமர்ந்தாள் வல்லபை அரும்தவம் புரிவதற்கு.

அன்ன, பானம் விடுத்தது உடலை வருத்திச்
சின்னப் பெண் செய்தது அரும் தவம் ஆனது.

'மற்ற பெண்களைப்போல இல்லையே இவள்!'
குற்றமாக எண்ணினாள் அன்னை வேதவல்லி.

#45d. Vallabha

Siva told Parvati Devi, "River Yamuna came into being along with Yama. Sage Mareechi lives in the banks of river Yamuna. You become a lotus flower in the river Yamuna and wait for the sage there.

When he sees you and comes near, you become a baby girl. He will adopt you and bring you up well. I will marry you in the form of Vinayaka."

Parvati Devi left Kailash and went to the river Yamuna. She transformed herself into a lovely white conch and sat on a lotus flower doing penance on Siva.

The lotus flower and the white conch placed on it shone with unusual brilliance, catching the attention of the sage, when he came to bathe in the river with his wife, kith and kin.

He moved closed to have a better look and the conch changed into a lovely baby girl. The sage became very happy and gave that baby girl to his wife Vedavalli. They named her a Vallabha and brought her up with great affection.

When Vallabha became a little older, she told the sage Mareechi her father, "Please get a place ready for me to do penance on lord Siva."

The sage arranged for a tapo saalaa and Vallabha sat in deep penance. Vedavalli found this strange on the part of a little girl, who was supposed to spend the time playing with her little friends.

#45 e. வல்லபை

"பிற பெண்களைப்போல அல்ல வல்லபை!
பிறந்துள்ளாள் பார்வதியே வல்லபையாக.

பெருமானை மணக்கத் தவம் செய்கிறாள்;
புரிந்து கொள்வாய் நீ அதைத் தடுக்காதே!"

பன்னிரண்டு வயதானது வல்லபைக்கு;
பெண்ணுக்கு அருள்புரிய நேரம் வந்தது.

வினாயகர் சொன்னார் சிவனிடம் சென்று;
"அநாவசியமாக நாளைக் கடத்தவேண்டாம்."

அந்தணர் வடிவம் தரித்தார் சிவபிரான்
வந்தார் வல்லபையின் தவச்சாலைக்கு.

ஆசனம் அளித்து உபசரித்த வல்லபை,
"காரணம் என்ன தங்கள் வருகைக்கு?" என

"மணம் புரியவந்தேன் கன்னி உன்னை நான்!'
சினம் பீறிட்டது வல்லபையின் உள்ளத்தில்!

"வரித்து விட்டேன் பெருமானைக் கணவராக;
வெறுத்து விட்டேன் பிற ஆடவரை என்றோ!

உள்ளத்தில் இடமில்லை வேறு எவருக்கும்;
உள்ளதை மாற்ற முடியாது வேறு எவராலும்"

"நடக்கவே முடியாத ஒன்றில் நாட்டமா?
கிடைக்க முடியாத ஒன்றுக்காக தவமா?"

"கிடைக்காவிட்டால் உயிரை விடுவேன்!
கிடைக்க மாட்டேன் வேறு எவருக்கும்!

சென்று விடுங்கள் நீங்கள் இங்கிருந்து;
சென்று விடுகிறேன் நானே இங்கிருந்து."

அந்தணனைக் காணவில்லை கண்முன்னே .
ஆனைமுகன் வடிவில் நின்றார் சிவபிரான்.

வலம் வந்து வணங்கினாள் வல்லபை;
"வரம் என்னவேண்டும் கூறு பெண்ணே!"

'வலப் பக்கத்தில் இணைபிரியாது என்றும்
நிலையாக இருக்க அருள்புரிய வேண்டும்!"

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#45 e. Vallabha

Sage Mareechi told his wife Vedavalli, " Vallabha is not an ordinary girl like the other children. She is the amsam of Parvati Devi herself. She is born to marry Lord Vinayaka. Understand and remember this fact and do not discourage her in her efforts"

Now Vallabha was twelve years old. Vinayaka told Lord Siva, "It is time to bless and make Vallabha's penance fruitful. Do not delay any further." Siva went to the tapo saalaa of Vallabha transformed as a Brahmin.

Vallabha welcomed him and offered him a seat. She asked the Brahmin, "What is the purpose of your visit here?"
The Brahmin stated point blank, "I want to marry you! I have come here to marry you."

Vallabha became terribly angry on hearing these words. "I have decided to marry Vinayaka long since. I can't marry anyone else now. "

The Brahmin made fun of her now. "You are dreaming to achieve something which can never take place. You are doing penance for something that is impossible."

Vallabha replied harshly, "If it is impossible I will rather give up my life than give up my dream of marrying Vinayaka. Please go away from here now. Or I myself will go away from here!"

She wanted to leave the place abruptly in her anger. But now the Brahmin had disappeared and lord Siva stood there in the form of Vinayaka.

She fell at his feet. Vinayaka asked her, "What is that you wish for pretty damsel?" Vallabha replied "I want to occupy your right side for eternity from now on!" Vinayaka granted her that wish.



 
#45 f. திருமணம்

விரைந்தனர் மரீசியிடம் ஆசிரம வாசிகள்,
உரைத்தனர் அந்தணன் வருகை குறித்து.

'எதிர் நோக்கி இருந்த வினாயகரே அவர்!"
எதிர் கொண்டழைக்க ஓடினார் ரிஷி மரீசி.

"புத்திரியை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டருள வேண்டும்,
உத்தரவு வேண்டும் மணஏற்பாடுகள் செய்ய!"

பிரம்மாண்டமான பந்தலை அமைத்தனர்
பிரமன், விஷ்ணு, இந்திராதி தேவர்கள்.

முனிபுங்கவர்களை அழைத்தனர் உளமார;
இனிதாகத் திருமணத்தை நடத்துவதற்கு.

வல்லபையின் வலக்கரம் விநாயகர் பற்ற,
வாழ்த்துக் கூறினார் வந்திருந்த அதிதிகள்.

பன்னிரு குமாரிகளுடன் வந்தார் விஷ்ணு.
பன்னிருவரையும் அளித்தார் பகவானுக்கு.

விநாயக பெருமானை வேண்டினார் விஷ்ணு.
"விஸ்வரூபத்தைக் காட்டியருள வேண்டும்.

ஞான மார்க்கத்தைப் போதிக்க வேண்டும்."
ஞான மார்க்கத்தை போதித்து அருளினார்.

வரங்களை வாரி வாரி வழங்கினார்;
இருப்பிடம் திரும்பினர் அனைவரும்.

குறைவின்றி வாழ்ந்தனர் நெடுங்காலம்
திருவடி சேர்ந்தனர் இறைவன் அருளால்..

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
#45f. The Wedding

The people who lived in Mareechi's aashram rushed to tell him about the arrival of a Brahmin. Mareechi knew that it was none other than Vinayaka and ran to receive him with due honor.

He requested Vinayaka to marry his daughter Vallabha and also give him permission to go ahead with the wedding arrangements. Vinayaka agreed to both.

Brahma, Vishnu and Indra got ready a huge pandal with the help of the other Deva. All the sages were invited in order to perform the wedding in a grand manner.

Vinayaka married Vallabha and they were blessed by all the guests of honor. Vishnu presented his twelve daughters to Vinayaka. Vishnu prayed to Vinayaka to reveal his viswaroopam and teach the gnaana maargham.

Vinayaka obliged. In addition to these he showered several boons on the people who had gathered for his wedding.

Everybody went back to their respective places. Those who got blessed by Vinayaka lived for a long time and finally reached his lotus feet, when they left this world.

 
#46 a. சோமநாதன் முக்தி

பிரம்மதேவன் வியாசருக்குக் கூறியதை
பிருகுமுனி சோமகாந்தனுக்குக் கூறினார்.

"இடைவிடாது பரம்பொருளை ஆராதித்தால்
திடமாக நிறைவேறும் உன் அபிலாஷைகள்."

சோமகாந்தன் ஜெபித்தான் மந்திரங்களை.
சோமகாந்தன் தியானித்தான் விநாயகரை.

ஆண்டு ஒன்று உருண்டோடியது - வந்தது
அழகிய விமானம் அழைத்துச் செல்வதற்கு.

தேவகணங்கள் தெரிவித்தன வரவேற்பினை.
சோமகாந்தன் பணிந்தான் பிருகு முனிவரை.

"விநாயகர் மகிமையை விவரமாகக் கேட்டு
விடாமல் தியானித்தீர் விநாயகரை நீங்கள்.

திவ்விய லோகத்துக்குச் செல்வீர் நால்வரும்!"
திவ்விய சரீரங்களுடன் ஏறினர் விமானம்.

சோமகாந்தனிடம் கூறினாள் சுதன்மை,
"எமகண்டனைக் காண்போம் செல்லுமுன்.

நற்பேற்றினைச் சொல்லவேண்டும் - மகன்
குற்றமற்ற நம் உடலைக் காணவேண்டும்!

தேவகணங்கள் கூறின சோமகாந்தனிடம்,
"தேவி கூறியது சரி என்பதே எம் கருத்து.

குமாரர் பூஜித்து வருகிறார் விநாயகரை.
விமானத்தை நிறுத்துவோம் நகர் அருகே.

குமாரனை வரவழைத்து விடைபெற்றபின்
விமானம் ஏறிச் செல்வோம் விண்ணுலகு!"

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
