#42d. தருமதத்தர்

பிறந்திருந்தான் பிரமன் தருமதத்தனாக;
பிறந்திருந்தனர் சித்தி, புத்தி மகள்களாக.

"விரைந்து வந்த காரணம் என்ன?" என்று
வினவினான் மன்னன் தருமதத்தரிடம்.

"காசியபர் குமாரர் மகோற்கடருக்கு நான்
நேசிக்கும் மகள்களை திருமணம் செய்திட".

அரசன் மகிழ்ந்தான் இம்மொழி கேட்டு
அனுமதி தந்தான்," அங்கனமே ஆகுக!"

"நல்ல நண்பர்கள் உன் தந்தையும் நானும்;
செல்ல மகள்களை ஏற்று அருளவேண்டும்."

புறப்பட்டனர் இருவரும் செல்வதற்கு;
எதிர்ப்பட்டனர் இரு அசுரர் அழிப்பதற்கு.

கழுதை உருவில் வந்த காம, குரோதர்
புழுதியில் புரண்டு சண்டை இட்டனர்.

மூச்சு முட்டியது அனைத்து மக்களுக்கும்!
தீச்செயலைத் தடுத்து விட்டார் மகோற்கடர்.

புல்லை இரண்டாகக் கிள்ளி ஏவினார்;
பொல்லா அரக்கர் வீழ்ந்து மாண்டனர்!

குண்டன் வந்தான் மதயானை வடிவில்
ஆண்டவனைத் தாக்க முயன்றான் அவன்.

வலைப் பற்றிச் சுழற்றி அடக்கிவிட்டு;
மேலேறி அமர்ந்தார் யானை முதுகில்.

விரட்டி ஓடச்செய்ததில் களைத்துப் போய்
நுரை கக்கி வீழ்ந்து மடிந்தது மதயானை.

#42d. Dharmaduttar

Brahma was born as Dharmaduttar and Siddhi Devi and Buddhi Devi as his two daughters. The king asked him,"What makes you come here in a great hurry?"

Dharmaduttar replied, "I want to marry my two loving daughters to Mahorkadar - the son of Kashyapa." The king of Kasi was pleased to hear this and accepted that alliance.

Dharmaduttar told Mahorkadar, "Your father and I are good friends. You must accept my two lovely daughters as your wifes" They left to go to Dharmaduttar's home.

Two asuras Kaama and Krodha came in the form of donkeys. They fought terribly in the street creating clouds of dust and suffocating the citizens.

Mahorkadar took a leaf of grass and split it into two halves. He threw them at the asura with asthra prayogam and they fell dead. Gundan came in the form a mad elephant. He tried to lift Mahorkadar in his trunk.

But Mahorkadar grabbed his tail and swirled him round and round until he was subdued. Then he sat on the neck of the elephant and made him run all over the place until he foamed in his mouth and fell down dead completely exhausted.

#42e. சிரம்பை

சிரம்பை தூமட்சனின் மனைவி;
உரைத்தாள் சபதம் சினத்துடன்;

"தூமாட்சனைக் கொன்ற சிறுவனை
ஏமாற்றிக் கொல்லாது விடமாட்டேன்!"

அழகிய அந்தணப் பெண் வடிவெடுத்தாள்;
பழகியவள் போல வந்தாள் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு.

கொண்டு வந்திருந்தாள் தன்னுடன்
எண்ணையில் விஷங்களைக் கலந்து.

"காசிபரின் குமாரர் வந்துள்ளதைக் கேட்டு
ஆச்சாரியாரின் மகனைக் காண வந்தேன்.

குமாரனைக் காண்பது ஒப்பாகும் அந்தக்
குமாரனின் தந்தையைக் காண்பதற்கு.

பாலகனுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்யும்
பாக்கியம் வேண்டி வந்துள்ளேன் நான்.

பரிமளம் வீசும் வாசனைத் திரவியங்கள்
நிரம்பிய தைலம் கொண்டு வந்துள்ளேன்.

எண்ணை ஸ்நானம் செய்விப்பதற்கு நீர்
என்னை அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும்" என்றாள்.

அறியவில்லை தருமதத்தர் சிரம்பையை;
அறிந்து கொண்டார் மகோற்கடர் அவளை.

மணையில் வந்து அமர்ந்தார் மகோற்கடர்.
மனத்தில் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தாள் சிரம்பை.

விஷம் கலந்த எண்ணையைத் தடவிவிட
விஷம் ஏறியது அவள் விரல்கள் வழியே!

ஆபத்து இல்லை மகோற்கடருக்கு;
ஆபத்து விளைந்தது சிரம்பைக்கு!

கெடுவான் கேடு நினைப்பான் என்பார்கள்.
கொல்ல வந்தவளைக் கொன்றது விஷம்.

#42e. Sirambai

Sirambai was Dhoomaakshan's wife. She swore that she would avenge the death of her husband and kill the boy who had killed him. She transformed herself into a beautiful Brahmin lady.

She went to the ashram of Dharmaduttar. She had brought with her a deadly mixture of oil and poisons. She spoke to Dharmadutar,

" I heard that sage Kahsyap's son has come here. I came to see him. Seeing him is equal to to seeing his father the sage Kashyap himself. I want to do some service to the lad. I have brought with me the oil mixed with fragrant substances. Please allow me to bathe the boy with my own hands"

Dharmaduttar did not realize her real idea behind this offer but Mahorkadar knew her real scheme. He sat on the wooden plank and Sirambai started applying the poisoned oil.

The poison entered her own body through her fingers and she fell dead. No harm happened to Mahorkadar.

#42f . திருமணம்

திருமண ஏற்பாடுகள் நடத்தினார் தருமதத்தர்.
திருமணம் நடந்தது பந்து மித்திரர் சாட்சியாக.

காசிராஜன் கலந்து கொண்டான் ஆர்வமாக;
ஆசீர்வதித்தனர் முனிவர்கள், பெரியோர்கள்.

அரசகுமாரனின் மணம் பற்றிய ஆலோசனை;
அஞ்சினர் அமைச்சர்கள் நராந்தகனை எண்ணி.

"வைரியாக எண்ணுகின்ற நராந்தகன் நமக்கு
வரிசையாகத் துன்பம் தந்தான் விடாமல்.

முறியடித்தது மகோற்கடரின் திருவருள்.
முயற்சி செய்வான் மீண்டும் தீங்கிழைக்க!

திருமணத்துக்குத் தடங்கல்கள் செய்வான்;
ஒருமுறைக்கு இருமுறை ஆலோசிக்கவும்!"

அரசனுக்கு ஒப்புதலே இந்த அறிவுரைகள்;
ஆயினும் நோக்கினான் மகோற்கடரை.

"திருமணம் நடக்கட்டும் நிச்சயித்தபடி;
நெருங்கியது இறுதிநாள் நராந்தகனுக்கு."

அமைச்சர்களின் அச்சம் மெய்யானது.
அசுரர்கள் மூவர் வந்தனர் அன்றிரவே.

பெருங் காற்றாகி வீசினான் விதாரணன்.
நொறுங்கி விழுந்தன மாட மாளிகைகள்!

அக்னி வடிவில் பரவினான் ஜ்வாலாமுகன்
தீக்கரங்கள் தழுவின நகர் முழுவதையும்.

அல்லல்பட்டு ஓடினார்கள் உயிர் காத்திட!
தொல்லைகள் இவை போதாது என்பதுபோல

வாயிலில் அமர்ந்த அசுரன் வியாக்கிரமுகன்
வாயைத் திறந்து வருபவரை விழுங்கினான்.

குழப்பம், கூச்சல் நீடித்தது நகர் முழுவதும்
குழம்பிய அரசன் சென்றான் மகோற்கடரிடம்.

#42f. The Wedding

The wedding of Mahorkadar with the two daughter of Dharmaduttar took place in a grand manner. Rushis and sages blessed the newly weds. Kaasi Raajan participated with great enthusiasm.

The king discussed about his son's wedding, but the ministers were afraid of the enmity of Naraantakan. "He considers us as his enemies and he gave us a lot of troubles. Mahorkadar saved us from them. He is sure to create more problem in the future. Please reconsider your decisions"

The king thought this was good advice and looked at Mahorkadar. But he said, "The marriage can take place as planned. Naraantakan's end is nearing fast!"

The fear of the ministers proved to be true. That night three asuras came to Kasi. VidaaraNan blew as a stormy wind shaking the buildings and gopurams and making them collapse.

Jwaalaa mukhan spread in the city as fire. The scared people ran for their lives. Vyaagra mukhan sat with his mouth wide open near the city gates and swallowed the people as they came out running.

Kaasi Raajan was at his wit's end. He rushed to meet Mahorkadar.

#42g. ஆபத்து விலகியது!

மகோற்கடரிடம் விரைந்தான் காசி ராஜன்,
"மகானே! காப்பாற்றுங்கள் ஆபத்திலிருந்து!

சூறாவளிக் காற்றில் தரைமட்டமானது காசி;
ஆறாத தீஜ்வாலைக்கு பலியாயினர் மக்கள்!

காப்பாற்ற வேண்டும் காசி நகரைத் தாங்கள்;
ஒப்பற்ற உங்களால் மட்டுமே இது சாத்தியம்."

"நராந்தகன் ஏவிய அசுரர்கள் கொட்டமே இது
நிரந்தரமாக நீக்குகிறேன் நொடிப் பொழுதில்!"

கமண்டல நீரைக் கையில் எடுத்தார் - கனத்த
புகைமண்டலத்தின் மீது அள்ளித் தெளித்தார்!

காற்றும், நெருப்பும் அடங்கி விழுந்தன!
காற்றும், நெருப்பும் அழித்தவை எழுந்தன!

அழிக்கப்பட்ட காசி நகரம் முன்போலவே
செழிப்புடன் விளங்கியது மீண்டும் விந்தை!

மகிழ்ச்சி பெருகியது மன்னன் மனதில்;
மார்புறத் தழுவினான் மகோற்கடரை.

விரைந்தார் மகோற்கடர் நகரவாயிலுக்கு;
திறந்த அசுரனின் வாயில் ஏறி நின்றார்.

வியாக்கிரமுகன் சுதாரிக்கும் முன்னரே
விஸ்வரூபம் எடுத்துப் பிளந்தார் அவனை!

அழிந்தான் அசுரன் பெரிய அலறலுடன்;
விழுங்கிய மக்கள் எழுந்தனர் உயிருடன்.

விருந்து அளித்தான் காசிராஜன் மறுநாள்;
விருந்து சமைத்தவள் பட்டத்து அரசியே.

விருந்து படைக்கும் பொழுது கண்டாள்
விருந்தில் சமைக்காத பல பண்டங்கள்!

"நாம் இன்று சமைக்காத பண்டங்களும்
நாம் அளிக்கும் விருந்தில் எப்படி?" என

அரசன் வினவினான் மகோற்கடரிடம்
அரசனுக்கு விளக்கினார் மகோற்கடர்.

#42h. புருசுண்டி

"நமது அன்பர்களில் சிறந்தவர் புருசுண்டி,
தமது உடலில் எனதுருவம் கொண்டவர்;

சதுர்த்திக்கு அவர் நிவேதனம் செய்பவை
புதிதாக வந்து சேருகின்றன என் உணவில்!"

"காண வேண்டும் அந்த பக்தரை உடனே;
பேண வேண்டும் அவரை நன்கு உபசரித்து."

"தண்டக வனத்தில் தங்கியுள்ளார் அவர்;
தெண்டனிட்டுக் கூறுவாய் விவரங்களை.

புத்திரன் விவாஹம் பொருட்டு நான் வந்த
அத்தனையையும் ஆதியோடு அந்தமாக!"

தண்டக வனம் சென்றான் காசிராஜன் - புரு
சுண்டியைக் கண்டு வணங்கினான் மகிழ்ந்து.

"மகோற்கடர் விருந்தில் தோன்றின நீங்கள்
மகா பக்தியுடன் படைத்த உணவு வகைகள்.

அரண்மனைக்கு வந்தருள வேண்டும் - உம்மை
அழைத்து வரச்சொன்னார் மகோற்கடர்" என்றான்.

கஜானனனை அறிந்திருந்தார் புருசுண்டி - ஆனால்
கஜானனனே மகோற்கடர் என்று அறியவில்லை.

"காசியப முனிவர், அதிதி தேவியின் மகனாகக்
காசினியில் அவதரித்துள்ளார் விநாயகர் மீண்டும்."

காசியபரிடம் சென்றது முதற்கொண்டு மகோற்கடர்
காசியில் செய்த அற்புதங்கள் வரையில் கூறினான்.

கண்ணை மூடித் திறக்கச் சொன்னார் புருசுண்டி.
மன்னன் தலையைத் தடவினார் பிறகு மெல்ல.

கண்ணைத் திறந்த மன்னன் கண்டான் தன்னை;
தண்டகவனத்தில் அல்ல, தன் அரண்மனையில்!

"புருசுண்டி வரவில்லையா?" கேட்டார் மகோற்கடர்.
"புருசுண்டியைக் கஜானனன் அழைத்ததாகச் சொல்!"

குனிந்து வணங்கி எழுந்த மன்னன் இருந்தான்
முனிவர் புருசுண்டியின் முன் தண்டகவனத்தில்!

#42h. BrusuNdi

"BrusuNdi is one of my best devotees. He has my physical form with a trunk in his face. Whatever he is offering to me for chathurti is appearing here along with the queen's preparations."

Then Kaasi Raajan said, "I am very eager to meet that devotee. I want to honor him well"

Mahorkadar told him , "BrusuNdi lives in DhaNdakaaraNyam. Go and tell him with due respect all the details from when you came to meet my father to what happened yesterday."

Kaasi Raajan went to DhaNdakaaraNyam and met BrusuNdi. He told the elephant faced sage," The neivedhyam you offered to Vinayaka appeared in the food offered to Mahorkadar. He requests you to accompany with me to meet him".

BrusuNdi knew Gajaananan but he was not aware of the fact that Mahorkadar was the avatar of Gajaananan. The king of Kasi explained to the sage that Vinayaka had been born as the son of Sage Kashyapa and Aditi Devi. His name was Mahorkadar. He related all the events since he met Kashyapa in his ashram.

BrusuNdi listened to everything and told the king to close his eyes. The king closed his eyes and the sage ran his fingers over the king's head. When he opened his eyes, the king found himself in his own palace, in the presence of Mahorkadar! He told Mahorkadar what had happened in the DhaNdakaaraNya.

Now Mahorkadar told the king, "Go and tell the sage BrudsuNdi that Gajaananan told him to accompany you". The king bent forward to pay his respect. When he got up he found himself in the presence of the sage in the DhaNdakaaraNya.

Miracles do happen everyday!!! :happy:

I was pondering about an auspicious day to start posting the Venkatesa Purana - after the completion of the Vinayaka Purana on 4th October.

You could have pushed me with a feather when I found out that the Brahmotsavam in 2013 starts on 5th October - on the very next day.

Does that mean that god does not WANT any gap in the postings???:bump2:

So the Venkatesa Purana will start immediately after the Vinayaka Purana gets completed here.

#42i. மேகன்

"கஜானனர் அழைத்தார் தங்களை வருமாறு!"
நிஜமான ஆனந்தம் கொண்டார் புருசுண்டி.

நண்பர்களுடன் விளையாடும் மகோற்கடரைக்
கண்டு நம்பவில்லை கஜானனன் என புருசுண்டி.

பக்தனின் ஐயத்தை நீக்கக் காட்சி தந்தார் தன்
பத்துக் கரங்களுடனும், வேழமுகத்துடனும்,

ரத்தின கிரீடத்துடனும், பிறைச் சந்திரனுடனும்,
சித்தி, புத்தி தேவியரோடு, சிங்க வாஹனத்தில்.

ஆனந்த வெள்ளத்தில் மிதந்தார் புருசுண்டி,
தானறிந்த ரூபத்தில் வேழமுகனைக் கண்டு.

தங்கினர் இருவரும் காசிராஜன் மாளிகையில்
அங்கு நடந்தது இருவருக்கும் ராஜ உபசாரம்!

வந்தனர் மேலும் பல அசுரர்கள் காசிக்கு.
வந்தான் மேகன் ஜோசியன் வேடத்தில்.

காசிராஜனிடம் கூறினான் ஜோசியன் மேகன்,
"காசிக்கு வரும் இனித் துன்பங்கள் தொடந்து.

முனி குமாரன் ஜாதகத்தில் உள்ளது தோஷம்;
இனியும் அவன் இங்கேயே இருக்க வேண்டாம்.

காட்டுக்கு அவனை விரட்டி விட்டால் உங்கள்
நாட்டுக்கு வரும் துன்பங்கள் நீங்கும்!" என்றான்.

பயந்தவன் போலவே நடித்தான் காசிராஜன்;
'நயமாகப் பேசி அழிக்க வேண்டும் இவனை!'

"காசியபரின் மகன் என்று அழைத்து வந்தேன்;
காசிக்குத் துன்பம் தருவதை அறியவில்லை.

காட்டில் விட்டு விடுகிறீர்களா தாங்களே?"என
மட்டற்ற மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தான் அசுரன் மேகன்.

பணித்தான் காசிராஜன் தன் காவலனிடம்,
"பேணி அழைத்துச் செல் மகோற்கடரிடம்!"

#42i. Megan

Now Kaasi Raajn told BrusuNdi, "Gajaananan wants you to accompany me to my palace!" BrusuNdi became very happy. He could not believe that the small boy playing with his friends was in reality his favorite god Gajaananan.

Mahorkadar wanted to prove that he was indeed Gajaananan. He appeared to BrusunNdi in the form he would recognize him - with his ten mighty arms, his beautiful elephant face, his gem studded crown, the crescent moon and his two Devis Siddhi and Buddhi on the Simha vaahanam.

BrusunNdi became happy that God chose to appear in a form he would recognize. He stayed with Mahorkadar in the palace of Kasi Raajan. They were treated like a king and a prince.

More asuras came to Kasi. One of them was Megan who appeared as an astrologer. He met the king of Kasi and told him, "Misfortune will strike your city one after another. The son of sage Kashyapa has a dhosham in his horoscope. He should not remain in your city. Send him off to the jungle immediately"

Kaasi Rajan pretended to be scared and thought to himself, 'I must act tactfully and get rid of this asuran'. He asked Megn," Can you please take him away and leave him in the forest?" Megan was only too willing to oblige. The king told his soldiers "Take this astrologer to Mahorkadar!"

#42j. மேலும் அசுரர்கள்!

மகோற்கடர் அறிந்தும் அறியாதது போல்
மகாப் பணிவுடன் பேசினார் மேகனிடம்.

"யாரோ ஜோசியர் அரசனிடம் பேசினாராம்;
நேர இருக்கும் ஆபத்துக்களகைக் குறித்து!"

"நான் தான் அரசனிடம் பேசிய ஜோசியன்;
மூன்று நாட்களில் நேரும் பெரும் துன்பம்.

காட்டுக்குப் போய்விடலாம் நாம் இருவரும்,
நாட்டுக்குத் திரும்பலாம் அது முடிந்த பிறகு."

"எத்தனை கருணை உள்ளம் கொண்டுள்ளீர்கள்!
அத்தனை அன்பா இந்த ஏழை அந்தணன் மீது ?"

பரிந்து மகோற்கடர் அணிவித்த மாலையால்
எரிந்து சாம்பலாகிவிட்டான் மேகன் அங்கேயே.

அழிக்க வந்தனர் மேலும் இரண்டு அசுரர்கள்
அழிந்த கிணறாகவும், தவளையாகவும் மாறி.

கிணற்றில் மண் எடுப்பதாகச் சொல்லிவிட்டுப்
பிணமாக்கிவிட்டார் இரண்டு அசுரர்களையும்.

நம்பிய அசுரர்கள் நாசம் அடைந்ததால் தன்
தம்பிகளையே அனுப்பினான் நராந்தகன்.

அந்தகாசுரன் இருள் மயமக்கினான் காசி நகரை.
அம்பாசுரன் இடி, மழை, மின்னலாக மாறினான்.

துங்காசுரன் மலைகளாகி மறைத்துவிடத்
துன்பத்தில் தவித்தனர் காசி நகர மக்கள்.

தோற்றுவித்தார் மகோற்கடர் ஓராலமரத்தை.
தோன்றினார் சிறு பறவையாக மர உச்சியில்.

வானளாவிய மரத்தின் மீது அமர்ந்துகொண்டு
தானசைத்தார் தன் சிறகுகளை வெகு வேகமாக.

படபடவென்று அடித்த சிறகுகளின் வேகத்தால்
படர்ந்த மேகங்கள் சேர்ந்து திரண்டன ஒன்றாக.

மலையில் சென்று மோதியது திரண்ட மேகம்.
மலையும், மேகமும் இரண்டும் வலுவிழந்தன.

நெற்றிக் கண்ணைத் திறந்தார் மகோற்கடர்;
நெற்றிக் கண்ணொளி போக்கியது இருளை!

#42j. More asuras!

Mahorkadr pretended not to know the real identity of the asuran Megan. He told the astrologer, "It seems an astrologer spoke to the king about the impending danger to the city of Kasi."

Megan told the boy,"I am the astrologer who spoke to the king. Great calamity will befall the city of Kasi during the next three days. We both can go to forest and return to the city after three days"

Mahorkadar told him,"Sir! you are so kind to a poor Brahmin boy like me. I want to honor you" and he put a garland around Megan's neck. Megan got charred to death immediately.

Two more asuras came as a dried up well and a frog. Mahorkadar killed them both under the pretext of digging the sand from the well.

Naraantakan was unhappy with the asuras who got killed by the boy instead of killing him. He decided to send his three smart brothers to deal with Mahorkadar now.

Antakaasuran made the city pitch dark. Ambaasuran poured as a heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Thungaasuran became a mountain and hid everything from view.

Mahorkadar created a huge tree and sat on the top most branch as a small bird. The bird flapped its wings so fast that the rainclouds were rolled into a single huge cluster and made to dash on the mountain with a great force. Both the cloud and the mountain lost their strength and fell down exhausted.

Now Mahorkadar opened his third eye and dispelled the darkness completely.

#42k. பிரமரை

ஓர் அசுரன் ஆனான் உயர்ந்த ஆலமரமாக;
ஓர் அசுரன் ஆனான் அதிலுள்ள கண்ணியாக.

ஓர் அசுரன் ஆனான் அங்குள்ள வேடனாக;
ஒரே எண்ணம் பறவையைப் பிடிப்பது தான்.

பாய்ந்தது பறவை வேடனைத் தூக்கிச் செல்ல;
மாய்த்தது மூவரையும் அந்த மரத்தில் மோதி.

அசுரர்களின் உடல்கள் சென்று விழுந்தன
அசுரர்களின் தாய் பிரமரையின் முன்னால்.

அழைத்தாள் தன் பதி பதங்காசுரனை பிரமரை,
அறியவில்லை இறைவன் அவனை மாய்த்ததை.

'பதியையும், புத்திரர்களையும் கொன்றான்
பழி தீர்ப்பேன் மகோற்கட முனிகுமாரனை!'

விஷம் கலந்த தின்பண்டங்கள் செய்தாள்.
வேஷம் அணிந்தாள் தாய் அதிதிபோலவே.

வரவேற்றனர் முனிவரின் மனைவி என்று;
"வராதது ஏன்?" என முனிவரை விசாரித்தனர்.

"அழைத்துச் செல்ல வந்தேன் என் குமாரனை."
அணைத்துக் கொஞ்சினாள் மகோற்கடரை.

ஊட்டினாள் அன்புடன் தின்பண்டங்களை.
உண்டார் அன்புடன் அத்தின்பண்டங்களை.

விஷம் ஏறியது அரக்கியின் உடலில்.
வேஷம் கலைந்து விழுந்து இறந்தாள்.

விருந்து தரவேண்டும் மகோற்கடருக்கு
விரும்பினர் ஒரு போலவே அனைவரும்.

அத்தனை வீடுகளிலும் விருந்து எனில்
எத்தனை நாட்கள் விருந்து நீடிக்குமோ?

#42k. Bramarai

One of the three asuras became a tall tree. The second one became a trap and the third one a hunter. Their only aim was to capture that little bird sitting on the top branch of the huge tree.

The bird flew down on the hunter, lifted him up to the trap and hit the tree hard killing all the three asuras at the same time. Their dead bodies got thrown in front of their mother Bramarai.

Bramarai got shocked to see the dad bodies of her three sons. She called out to her husband Pathangaasuran - not knowing that Mahorkadar had already killed him too.

Now she became wild with anger and swore to herself, "I will kill that little boy - who has killed my husband and my three sons - at any cost.' She prepared eatables with deadly poisons and changed herself to resemble Aditi Devi, the wife of sage Kashyap and the mother of Mahorkadar.

She went to Kasi. The king and Queen welcomed her mistaking her to be Aditi Devi herself. They wondered why sage Kashyap did not accompany her.

Bramarai embraced Mahorkadar and gave him the eatables specially made by her, for him. He ate them relishing the taste. The poison killed Bramarai instead of Mahorkadar.

Now all the citizens of Kasi wanted to host a feast to honor Mahorkadar in their house. There were so many houses that the king wondered how long the feast was going to last?

#42 l. சுக்கிலர்

தயங்கினான் காசி மன்னன் இதை எண்ணி.
தயங்கவில்லை மகோற்கடர் இதை எண்ணி.

"நாளைக்கு உங்கள் வீட்டில் எனக்கு விருந்து!"
நாடு முழுவதுமே தயாரித்தது விருந்துணவு !

சனகர் முதலிய நால்வர் காண வந்தனர்;
ஜனங்கள் வந்து அழைத்தனர் விருந்துக்கு

உண்டார் விருந்து அன்று அரசனுடனும்;
உண்டார் விருந்து ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டிலும்!

ஒரே நேரத்தில் நிகழ்ந்தது இந்த அதிசயம்;
ஒரே விருந்து தன்னுடன் என நினைத்தனர்.

சுக்கிலர் காசியில் ஓர் ஏழை அந்தணர்.
சுக்கிலர் மனைவி குணவதி வித்ருமை.

யாசகம் செய்து ஜீவனம் செய்தனர் - ஆனால்
யாசகம் என்று அன்று.ஏதும் கிடைக்கவில்லை

தவிட்டினால் செய்தனர் ஒரு பலகாரம்.
தவிட்டை விருந்தாக்க விருப்பம் இல்லை.

அழைக்கவில்லை சுக்கிலர் மகோற்கடரை.
அழையா விருந்தாளி ஆனார் மகோற்கடர்.

வீட்டுக்கு வந்த விருந்தினரை வரவேற்று,
வித்ருமை உபசரித்தாள் மிக்க அன்புடன்.

தவிட்டுப் பலகாரத்தைப் படைக்கையில்
தவித்தனர் தம்பதியர் கழிவிரக்கத்தால்!

"ஒரு பிடி அரிசி கூடக் கிடைக்கவில்லை.
பெரும் சோதனை நாள் ஆனது இன்று!"

"ருசி உள்ளது எந்த ஒரு பொருளிலும்;
பசி ருசி அறியாது என்பதை அறியீரா?"

மகோற்கடர் மறைந்தருளக் கட்சி தந்தார்,
மகோன்னதமாக தேவியருடன் விநாயகர்.

பத்துக் கரங்கள், இரத்தின கிரீடத்துடன்;
பக்தருக்கு அருளிட, சிங்க வாஹனத்தில்.

குன்றாத பக்தியை வேண்டினர் தம்பதியர்.
குறைவற்ற செல்வமும் தந்தார் இறைவன்.

#42l. Suklar

The king of Kasi hesitated wondering for how many days the feast would last! Mahorkadar however no hesitations at all. He told the citizens of Kasi, "I will dine with you in your house tomorrow." Every one prepared a feast on that day.

Sanakar and his three brothers called on Mahorkadar on that day. The king and Mahorkadar ate with the four brothers in the palace. At the same time Mahorkadar was dining in every house in Kasi. Each householder thought that Mahorkadar had dined only in his house.

Suklar was a poor Brahmin living in Kasi. His wife was the good natured and pious Vidrumai. They were sincere devotees of Vinayaka and lived exclusively on Biksha.

On that day they could not get even a handful of rice. So Vidrumai made something to eat with the husk of paddy. Suklar did not want to offer it to Mahorkadar as a feast. So he did not invite Mahorkadar to his home. All the same Mahorkadar came to their house as an uninvited guest.

Vidrumai welcomed him and made him as comfortable as was possible in their poor house. When they served Mahorkadar the food prepared with the husk of paddy, they felt steeped in self pity that they could not offer some decent food to the guest.

Vidrumai apologized and said, "Today is a hard day for us. We could not get even a handful of rice" Mahorkadar relied, "There is a taste in everything we make. Hunger is the best sauce. Please give me whatever you have prepared for me."

Suddenly Mahorkadar disappeared from there and in his place Vinayaka appeared with his ten mighty arms, elephant face, gem studded crown and two beautiful Devis on his simha vaahanam.

The couple fell at his feet and begged for undiminished devotion. God gave them that and all the eight aiswaryams besides.

#42 m. நராந்தகன்

முயற்சிகள் அனைத்துமே வீணாகின;
தளர்ச்சி அடைந்து விட்டான் நராந்தகன்.

'தன் கையே தனக்கு உதவி' அல்லவா?
தானே போருக்குச் செல்ல எண்ணினான்.

படைதிரண்டது பெரிய சமுத்திரம் போல.
படை நடந்தது பூமி முழுவதும் அதிர்ந்திட.

சதுரங்க சேனையின் வரவை அறிந்ததும்
சரணாகதி ஆனான் ராஜன் இறைவனிடம்.

மந்திராலோசனை செய்தனர் மந்திரிகள்;
"மாய்ப்பது கடினம் வரம் பெற்றவனை.

சரண் அடைவது சாலச் சிறந்தது!" என்றனர்
முரண்பட்டார் மகோற்கடர் கருத்திலிருந்து.

"யுத்தத்துக்குச் சித்தம் ஆகுங்கள் இப்போதே!
அர்த்தமற்ற கவலையை விட்டுத் தள்ளுங்கள்"

படைகள் கலந்தன நகருக்கு வெளியே;
படைகள் தாக்கலாயின ஒன்றை ஒன்று.

உக்கிரமான யுத்தம் தொடங்கி நடந்தது
விக்கிரமத்தை வெளிக்காட்டினான் ராஜன்.

சுற்றிச் சுற்றி மாய்த்தான் அசுர வீர்களை.
சற்றும் அஞ்சாது தாக்கினான் நராந்தகனை.

அம்பு மழை பொழிந்தான் காசி ராஜன்;
அம்பு மழையை விலக்கினான் நராந்தகன்.

அஸ்திரங்களை எய்தான் சரமாரியாக;
ஆக்கினான் ராஜனை நிராயுதபாணியாக!

கைதாயினர் காசி ராஜனும், அமைச்சர்களும்;
கைதிகளை நிறுத்தினர் நராந்தகனின் முன்பு.

#42m. Naraantakan

All his efforts were futile. Naraantakan became disheartened. "Self help is the best policy!" He decided to deal with Mahorkadar personally now. A huge army got ready and walked such that the whole earth trembled under their march.

When Kasi Raajan saw the approaching army, he took refuge in Mahorkadar. The ministers discussed the situation and said, "Naraantakan has several boons to protect him. We cannot defeat him. It is better to to surrender to him"

Bur Mahorkadar opposed the idea and said, "Do not worry unnecessarily and get ready for the war."

The two armies merged outside the city limits. A terrible war was fought. The king of Kasi showed his might and war tactics. He gave a terrible time to the asura soldiers. He opposed Naraantakan bravely but after some time he was rendered weaponless. The king of Kasi and his ministers were arrested and produced before Naraantakan.

#42n . குரூரன்

நிலைமையை அறிந்து பட்டமகிஷி
தலை விரிகோலமாக ஓடிவந்தாள்.

"நம்பிக்கையுடன் சென்றான் போருக்கு;
நம்பிக்கை இல்லை இனி காண்பேன் என!

சிறைப் பட்டுவிட்டார் அரசர் போரில்;
சிதைத்து விடுவார்களே அசுரர்கள்!"

"கலகலக்கும் வெற்றியுடன் வருவார்!
வெலவெலக்காமல் காத்திருங்கள் தாயே!"

ஆயிரக்கணக்கான வீரர்கள் தோன்றினர்,
ஆயுதம் எந்தியபடி, அவர் முகத்திலிருந்து.

குரூரன் தலை சிறந்தவன் அவர்களில்;
குரூரனைப் பணித்தார் மகோற்கடர்;

"நராந்தகனை வென்று சிறை மீட்பாய்,
நண்பர் காசி ராஜனையும், பிறரையும்!"

குரூரன் புரிந்தான் அற்புதமான போர்;
குரூரன் துன்புறவில்லை அம்புகளால்!

அஸ்திரங்களை நராந்தகன் எய்தவுடன்,
விஸ்தீர்ண வாயால் விழுங்கிவிட்டான்!

பாசுபதாஸ்திரத்தை விடுத்தான் அசுரன்,
பகவான் அருளுடன் விடுத்தான் குரூரன்.

எறிந்தது அசுரனை ரதத்துடன் வானில்;
பறந்தவன் வந்து விழுந்தான் நிலத்தில்.

விழுந்த வேகத்தில் அழுந்தினான் அசுரன்;
அழுந்தியே விட்டான் பாதாளம் வரையில்!

சிறை மீட்டு உடன் அழைத்துச் சென்றான்
குரூரன் காசிராஜனையும், மற்றவரையும்.

#42n. Krooran

When the Queen of Kasi learned that the king had been arrested, she came running to Mahorkadar greatly agitated. "He went to the war trusting in your words. I have no hope that I will ever see him alive again. The asuras will not spare their war prisoners"

Mahorkadar consoled her and said, "The king will return safely and victoriously. Wait patiently and do not get tensed."Thousands of soldiers armed to their teeth appeared from the face of Mahorkadar. Krooran was the best among them.

Mahorkadar ordered Krooran, "Go and free the King of Kasi and the others, after defeating Naraantakakn in the war."

Krooran fought wonderfully. None of the arrows shot by the asuras seemed to hurt him. When Naraantakan shot his asthrams, Krooran swallowed them whole by his wide open mouth.

Now Naraantkakn shot his Paasu pathaasthram. Krooran did likewise after praying to his God. Naraantakan got thrown high in the sky along with his chariot. He came down with such a great force and hit the earth that he went down right up to paataalaa.

Before he could come up to the earth's surface Krooran had freed all the prisoners and escaped.

#42 p. மாயப்போர்

மயக்கம் தெளிந்தான் நராந்தகன்;
தயக்கம் இன்றித் தாக்கலானான்

உருவெடுத்தான் கரிய மேகங்களாக;
பிரளய ஜலம் போலப் பொழிந்தான்.

சண்டமாருதமாக வீசினான் - அவர்கள்
சண்டை இட்ட போர்க்களத்தில் அசுரன்.

அரண்மனையிலிருந்த மகோற்கடர் அவன்
அமர்க்களத்துக்கு வந்துவிட்டதை அறிந்தார்

எண்ணம் கொண்டார் தானே சம்ஹரிக்க!
சுண்டினார் விரலால் நாணேற்றிய வில்லை

பரவியது எண் திசையும் அதன் டங்காரம்;
மறைந்துவிட்டது அசுரனின் மாய உருவம்.

அக்னி உருவெடுத்தான் நராந்தகன் பிறகு.
அழிக்கத் தொடங்கினான் பிரபஞ்சத்தை!

தோற்றுவித்தான் எண்ணற்ற வீரர்களை;
தோன்றினர் எண்ணற்ற உருவங்களில்.

ஒருபுறம் வந்து பொங்கியது வெள்ளம்
ஒருபுறம் வந்தது பொசுக்கும் தீஜ்வாலை.

ஒருபுறம் பறந்தன மரங்கள் காற்றில்;
ஒருபுறம் பெய்தது விடாத கனமழை.

மலைகளிலிருந்து சரிந்தன சிகரங்கள்
மேலிட்டது குழப்பம் தேவர்கள் தரப்பில்.

போரிட்டான் பல உருவங்களில் நராந்தகன்
போரிட்டார் மகோற்கடர் தக்க உருவங்களில்,

ரதத்தைப் பொடி செய்தார் மகோற்கடர்.
அறுபட்ட கரங்கள் முளைத்தன மீண்டும்.

நராந்தகன் திறமையைக் காண விரும்பி
சிராக்காலம் போரிட்டார் மகோற்கடர்.

சிறுவன் களைத்துவிட்டான் போலும்
வெறுமனே சமாளிக்கிறான் சவாலை!

நராந்தகன் எண்ணினான் மனதில்,
உரைத்தான் எள்ளி நகையாடியபடி.
