#39n. பாலலீலைகள் (14)

நாகாஸ்திரத்தை எய்தான் கனலாசுரன்;
நாகாஸ்திரத்தை அழித்தது கருடாஸ்திரம்.

வாளேந்தி எதிர்த்த அசுரனின் ஓங்கியகை
வாளுடன் வீழ்ந்தது தரையில் அறுபட்டு.

உண்டாயினர் ரத்தத்திலிருந்து அசுரர்கள்!
உண்டது அவர்களை மூன்றாவது கண் தீ!

ருத்திராஸ்திரத்தை எய்தான் கனலாசுரன்;
பத்திரமாகப் பெற்றுக் கொண்டார் கணேசன்.

தண்டத்தால் அடிக்க ஓடி வந்த அசுரனைத்
துண்டித்தது கணேசர் விடுத்த சூலாயுதம்.

சிந்து ராஜன் கலங்கினான் செய்தி கேட்டு;
நொந்து நூலானான் பொங்கும் அச்சத்தால்!

கட்டளையிட்டான் தன் அடிமைகளான
கதிரவன், நிலவு, வருணன், வாயு, தீயை.

"செல்லக் கூடாது திரிசந்தி க்ஷேத்திரம்!"
செல்வதை நிறுத்தி விட்டனர் ஐவரும்.

சூரிய, சந்திரர் உதிக்கவில்லை அங்கே!
நீரோ, காற்றோ, தீயோ இல்லை அங்கே!

முனிவர்கள் பணிந்த்னர் கணேசனை;
முனிவர்கள் துயர் தீர்த்தான் கணேசன்!

தோன்றினர் கதிரவன், வாயு ,மேகங்கள்,
கணேசனின் வலது திருவிழியிலிருந்து!

தோன்றினர் அக்னியும், சந்திரனும்,
கணேசனின் இடது திருவிழியிலிருந்து!

"சிந்து ராஜன் என்னைத் தேடி வராததால்,
சிந்து ராஜனைத் தேடி நானே செல்வேன்!"

அறிந்தார் கணேசனின் கருத்தைச் சிவன்,
தோற்றுவித்தார் ஒரு கோடி பூதங்களை.

மயூரத்தின் மேல் அமர்ந்து சென்றான் கணேசன்,
முருகன், நந்தி, வீரபத்திரர் மற்றும் பூதர்களுடன்.

#39n. Baala Leelaa (14)

Kanalaasuran shot at Ganesha his Naagaasthram. Ganesha'a Garudaasthram destroyed it. Kanalaasuran attacked Ganesha with his mighty sword but the hand that held the sword was cut off by Ganesha.

From the blood that spilled more asuras emerged. Ganesha opened his fiery third eye and dried up the spilled blood before any more asuras could emerge.

The asuran shot the Rudraasthram. Ganesha received it deftly and added it to his own collection of asthrams. The asuran came charging madly with his dandam. The soolayudham released by Ganesha killed the asuran on the spot.

Sindhu Raajan became very upset on hearing the death of Kanalaasuran. He was both frightened and angry. He ordered the Sun, the Moon, The fire, the air and the water who were his slaves, "Do not enter Trisandhi kshetram anymore!" They promptly stopped entering the Trisandhi kshetram.

There was no sun or moon and no day or night. There was no air to breath, water to drink and fire to cook and perform yaga or yagna.

The people living in the ashram took refuge in Ganesha. He created all the missing things from his own body. The Sun, the air and the clouds emerged from Ganesha's right eye. The moon and the agni emerged from his left eye.

Ganesha decided that if Sindhu Raajan was unwilling to come to him, he himself would go to meet Sindhu Raajan. Siva knew his decision and created ten million boothaa ganaas to go with him to the battle field.

Ganesha left on his peacock along with Murugan, Nandhi and Veerabadra and the ten million bootha ganaas.

#39p. நந்தியின் தூது

இறங்கினார் படைகளுடன் நகருக்கு வெளியே;
சிறந்த நந்தியை அனுப்பினார் தன் தூதுவராக.

'திறமை வேண்டும் நம் கட்சியை உரைக்க;
அறிவு வேண்டும் நிலைமையை சமாளிக்க.'

அரச சபையை அடைந்தார் நந்திதேவர்;
அரன் அருளால் தோன்றியது அரியணை.

மிடுக்காக அமர்ந்தார் அரியணை மீது;
திடுக்கிட்டான் சிந்துராஜன் அது கண்டு!

"யார் நீ? எங்கு வந்தாய்? எதற்கு வந்தாய்?
யார் அனுப்பினார் உன்னை? உண்மை கூறு"

"மயூரேசர் அனுப்பிய தூதுவன் நான் நந்தி.
அபூர்வ வரங்கள் தீங்கிழைப்பதற்காகவா?

முனிவருக்கும் தேவருக்கும் தருகின்றாய்
இனிமேல் தாங்க முடியாத துன்பங்களை!

சிறையில் வாட்டுகின்றாய் தேவர்களை;
குறை சொல்லத் துணியவில்லை எவரும்!

பரம் பொருளே பிறந்துள்ளார் கணேசனாக;
அதன் பொருள் உன் அழிவு நிச்சயம் என்பது.

சிறைவிடு தேவர்களை உடனேயே - உன்
குறைகளை மன்னித்து விடுவார் மயூரேசர்.

மன்னித்தால் வாழ்வாய் நெடுங்காலம்;
மறுத்தால் வீழ்வாய் வெகு விரைவில்

மலை போல நம்பியிருந்த அசுர வீரர்கள்
நிலை குலைந்து மாய்ந்ததை மறவாதே!

முடிவு செய்வாய் நன்கு சிந்தித்த பின்னர்,
மடியப் போகிறாயா? வாழப் போகிறாயா?"

கலகலவென்று நகைத்தான் சிந்து ராஜன்;
கண்களில் கனல் எழ விழித்தான் பின்னர்..

"வலிமையற்ற அசுரரைப் போல என்னையும்
வலிமையற்றவன் என்று நீ கருதிவிட்டாயா?

தூதுவனாக வந்ததால் செல்வாய் மீண்டு;
வேறு மனிதர்கள் சென்றதில்லை மீண்டு."

#39p. Nandi's message

Mayuresar landed outside the city. He sent Nandi as his personal messenger to Sindhu Raajan. Nandi was capable of delivering the message correctly and handling any situation that might arise.

Nandi reached Sindu Raaja's durbar. A throne appeared for him by Siva's grace. He sat on it very confidently and Sindhu Raajan was shocked to see this.

He fired many questions at Nandi, " Who are you? Why are you here? Who has sent you? And for what purpose?"

Nandi replied. "I am the messenger of Mayuresar. You have obtained many special boons. Are they for living happily or for troubling the other innocent people? You are causing a lot of sufferings to the rushis. You have imprisoned the Deva.

Mayuresar is none but the god supreme. He is sure to destroy you. You may still live, if you release all the Deva and beg for the pardon of Mayuresar. Remember how the mighty asuras sent by you were killed by Mayuresar as if in a child's play.

Think well before you make a decision. Are you going to live for a long time by seeking his pardon or are you in a hurry to leap towards your death?"

Sindhu Raajan laughed loudly in his anger. He rolled his bloodshot eyes and spoke to Nandi,

"Do You think I am also powerless like the asuras who got killed by your Mayuresar? I will spare your life since you have come here as a messenger. Otherwise no one has gone back alive from here till now"

#39q. நந்தி தேவர்

"தூதுவன் என்பதால் உயிரோடு விடுகிறாயா?
தூதுவன் என்பதால் தான் செல்கிறேன் நானும்!

சாம்பலாக்குவேன் உன்னை ஒரு கணத்தில்!
சந்தகம் இருந்தால் பார் என் வலிமையினை!""

ஹூங்காரம் செய்தார் நந்தி தேவர்- அந்த
ஹூங்காரத்தில் நடுங்கியது அரண்மனை!

விழுந்தனர் ஆசனந்களிலிருந்து தரையில்;
எழும்பினார் விண்ணில் ஆகாய மார்க்கமாக.

படைகளை அழைத்தான் சிந்து ராஜன் - பல
படைகள் வந்தன பல இடங்களில் இருந்து.

ரதத்திலேறிச் சென்றான் போர்க்களம் சிந்து;
ரதத்தைப் படைவீரர் நடந்தனர் .தொடர்ந்து.

பொருதார் மித்திரனுடன் சுப்பிரமணியர்;
பொருதார் கவுத்துவனுடன் வீரபத்திரர்;

பொருதார் வீரராசனுடன் நந்தி தேவர்;
பொருதனர் அவரவர் தம் சக்திக்கேற்ப.

மாயப் போர் புரியலானான் மித்திரன்;
ஆயாசம் அடைந்தது இறைவன் படை.

நவசக்தி குமாரரை அல்லல் படுத்தினான்;
நவ வீரர்கள் கொன்றனர் தேர் சாரதியை.

ஒரே நொடியில் ஏறினான் வேறு தேரில்;
ஒன்பது பாணங்களை எய்தார் வீரவாகு.

மித்திரன் மயங்கி விழுந்தான் தரையில்
உக்கிரம் அதிகரித்தது தெளிந்த எழுந்ததும்.

சுப்பிரமணியர் வந்தார் தானே போர்செய்ய;
தப்பாமல் எய்தான் சரமழையை மித்திரன்.

அப்பாவி போல் சென்று வணங்கின - அவன்
சுப்பிரமணியர் மீது விடுத்த அஸ்திரங்கள்!

வானில் எழும்பிப் போரிட்டான் அதன்பின்;
வீணானது அவன் முயற்சிகள் எல்லாம்.

வாளை உருவிக் கொண்டு ஓடி வந்தவனை
வஜ்ஜிராயுதத்தால் வதைத்தார் சுப்பிரமணியர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#39q. Nandi Devar

"So you spare my life since I have come as a messenger! I too spare your life since I have come here as a messenger. I can destroy you in a second. If you doubt my power look at this." Nandi spoke thus and did a loud hoonkaaram.

The whole palace trembled in the power of the sound he made. Everybody fell down from his throne. Nandi rose in the sky and went back to Mayuresar.

Sindhu Raajan summoned all his soldiers. They came from far and wide from every country and every land. Sindhu raajan mounted on his chariot and left for the battle field. The chaturanga sena followed him.

Subramanya fought with Mithran; Veerbadran fought with Kouthuvan and Nandi fought with
Veera Raajan. Each one fought with an enemy of equal strength.

Mithran resorted to Maya tricks. The army of the God faced a set back. Mithran troubled the Nava sakthi kumaaraas. They killed his saarathi but Mithran jumped on to another chariot and fought valiantly.

Veerabaahu shot nine arrows on Mithran and he fainted in the battle field. When he came round, he was more aggressive then before. Subramanya himself came to fight with Mithran once again.

The asthrams shot by Mithran on Subramanya did not harm him in any way but surrendered to him meekly.

Now Mithran fought from the sky but his valor was completely wasted. When he ran towards Subramanya with a drawn sword, he was killed by Vajraayutham released by Subramanaya.

#39r. கணேசர்

கௌவுத்துவன் போரிட்டான் வீரபத்திரருடன்
கவிழ்ந்தான் அவனும் அவர் கை பாணத்துக்கு!

ஒரு கரத்தை நந்தியிடம் இழந்த வீரராஜன்,
மறுகரத்தில் வாள் பற்றி வந்தான் போருக்கு.

வீரசுவர்க்கம் அடைந்தான் நந்தி கைகளில்;
வீரர்கள் சிதறி ஓடலாயினர் புறமுதுகிட்டு.

ஒன்று சேர்த்தான் சிந்து எஞ்சிய வீரரை;
சென்று போரிட்டான் பெரும் வீரத்துடன்.

தளபதியை இழந்த படை பலவீனமானது
தளரவில்லை மனம் சிந்துவின் படைவீரர்

கணேசர் வந்தார் சிந்துவை நெருங்கியபடி;
கணேசரிடம் பேசினான் சிந்து சிரித்தபடி.

"என்னுடன் போர்புரியும் சின்னக் குழந்தை நீயா ?
இன்னமும் அஞ்சி அன்னையிடம் ஓடவில்லையா?

பிஞ்சுக் குழந்தாய்! நான் சொல்வதைக் கேள்!
அஞ்சுவது அஞ்சாமை அறிவின்மை" என்றான்.

"வரங்கள் தந்த வலிமையால் பேசுகிறாய்.
வரங்கள் வலிமை இழந்தது அறியாய்

என்று தேவர்களைச் சிறையிலிட்டாயோ
அன்று தொடங்கின உனது இன்னல்கள்

உன்னை அழிக்கவே பிறந்துள்ளேன்
இன்னமும் நீ வாழலாம் நெடுங்காலம்

சிறைவிடு தேவர்களை ; பணிந்திடு என் பதம்;
திருந்தினால் வாழ்வாய் அன்றேல் அழிவாய்!"

சிந்துவின் கண்களில் சிந்தின தீப்பொறிகள்!
முன்னிலும் அதிக உக்கிரமாக ஆனான்.

#39r. Ganesha

Kouthuvan fought with Veerabadran and died in his hands. Veraraajan lost one of his arms to Nandhi but charged at him valiantly holding his sword in the other hand. Nandhi sent him to Veera swarggam.

The army started running in confusion since it had lost all the generals. Sindhu Raajan gathered all those soldiers. Ganesha came close to Sindhu Raajan and he asked Ganesha with a smile, "Are you the child who is fighting with me now? I thought you had run off to your mother in fear. You must learn to fear what deserves to be feared"

Ganesha spoke to him, "You talk in this manner since you are sure of the boons bestowed on you. But they have lost their protecting power long ago. Your problems have started on the day you imprisoned the Deva. I am born only to destroy you. You may still live if you release all the imprisoned Deva and seek my pardon. Otherwise it is complete destruction for you"

Sparks of fire appeared in Sindhu Raajan's eyes due to his uncontrolled anger and he became more savage in his attacks.

#39s. யுத்தம்

சிந்து ராஜன் எய்தான் விரைவாகச் சரமழையை!
சிந்துவின் பாணங்களைச் சிதறடித்தார் கணேசர்.

சூரிய அஸ்திரத்தை ஏவினான் சிந்து ராஜன்
சூலாயுதம் விழுங்கியது சூரிய அஸ்திரத்தை

வீழ்த்தியது சிந்துவினின் கிரீடத்தைச் சூலம்.
வீழ்ந்தன இரு செவிகளும் கூடவே அறுபட்டு.

மறைந்து போனான் சிந்து ராஜன் அங்கிருந்து;
மறுபடியும் ஓடினர் படைவீரர்கள் தாறுமாறாக.

துவண்டான் சிந்து தன் முதல் தோல்வியால்
துவண்டாள் அவன் மனைவி அவனைக் கண்டு!

மைத்துனர்கள் வந்தனர் சிந்துராஜனிடம்
யுத்தகளம் சென்றனர் படையினை நடத்தி

காய்ந்தனர் போரில் கலன், விகலன் இருவரும்.
மாய்ந்தனர் போரில் கலன், விகலன் இருவரும்!

தன்மன், அதன்மன் சிந்துவின் மகன்கள்
நன்கு போரிட்டு மடிந்தனர் இருவரும்.

வந்தான் போருக்கு வருந்தியயபடி சிந்து
நொந்தான் தன் பாணங்கள் வீணானதால்.

அழித்து விட்டார் சுப்பிரமணியர் எளிதாக;
அழிப்பதற்கு சிந்துராஜன் எய்த சரங்களை.

கண்டார் நாரதர் இந்த நாடகப் போரினை
விண்டார் "விளையாடியது போதும்!" என.

அனுப்பினர் பிருங்கியை சிந்துராஜனிடம்
அனுமதி இன்றி நுழைந்தான் மாளிகையில்.

காவலரை மாய்த்தான் பிருங்கி மேலும்
கேவலம் செய்தான் சிந்துவின் ராணிக்கு.

சிந்துவின் மனைவியை இழுத்து வந்தான்.
சிகையை அறுத்து அவன் முன் எறிந்தான்.

சினந்த சிந்து ராஜன் எய்தான் சரங்களை.
அனைத்தும் சற்றும் பயனற்றுப் போயின

சிதைத்தான் அந்தச் சரங்களை பிருங்கி ;
உதைத்தான் சிந்துவைக் காலால் பிருங்கி.

மூர்ச்சித்து விழுந்துவிட்டான் சிந்து ராஜன்
ஆர்வத்துடன் கணேசரிடம் சென்றான் பிருங்கி.

#39s. The War

Sindhu Raajan showered a rain of arrows. Ganesha dispersed them easily. Sindhu Raajan shot his Soorya ashtram now. Ganesha's soolaayudam destroyed the Soorya asthram and proceeded to dislodge the crown and severe the ears of Sindhu Raajan. He disappeared from the battle field. The army ran in confusion since there was no one to lead it.

Sindhu Raajan had tasted his first ever defeat in life and he did not relish it. His wife got upset seeing him so upset. Sindhu Raajan's brothers in law came for his help. Kalan and Vikalan lead the army and fought valiantly but got killed in the war.

Danman and Adanman were the two sons of Sindhu Raajan. They too fought valiantly only to get killed. Now Sindhu Raajan himself came to the battle field with a heart loaded with sorrow. All the destructive asthrams shot by him were playfully destroyed by Subramanyan. Narada got tired of this mock fight. He told Ganesha,"Enough of this mock fight".

Brungi was sent to Sindhu Raajan by Ganesha. Brungi entered the palace and killed the guards on duty. He dragged Sindhu's wife, cut off her hair and threw it in front on him.

Sindhu became very angry and shot his arrows on Brungi - who destroyed them easily and kicked Sindhu so hard that he fainted and fell down. Brungi returned to Ganesha, happy with what he had done.

#39t. சிந்துவின் சிந்தாகுலம்

'அழிக்கப் பிறந்துள்ளான் கணேசன் என்றறிந்ததும்
அழித்திருக்க வேண்டும் அவனை நானே சென்று!

தும்பை விட்டு வாலைப் பிடித்தவன் போல நானும்
வம்பை வளர்த்துக் கொண்டு வருந்துவதால் பயன்?

போரில் மாண்டனர் என் படைத் தலைவர்கள்!
மேலும் மறைந்தனர் என் இரண்டு வீரமகன்கள்!

சாதாரண வீரன் என்னைத் தாக்கிச் செல்கிறான்
அசாதாரண நிகழ்வுகள் என் அழிவின் அறிகுறி.

சிறை விடுத்தால் வாழலாம் குறைவின்றி
தரை தட்டிவிடும் வளர்த்து வைத்த நற்பெயர்

வெற்றி அல்லது வீர மரணம் உறுதியானது!'
சற்றும் தயங்காமல் சென்றான் போர்க்களம்

'என்னை அழிக்கப் பிறந்த சிறுவனுடன்
இன்று போர் புரியப் விரும்புகிறேன் நான்!

நானா? அவனா?முடிவாகி விடும் இன்று!"
நகைக்கும் முகத்தோடு கணேசர் அங்கு!

எய்தான் தன்னோடு பிறந்த சக்கரத்தை
"கொய்வாய் சிறுவனின் தலையை!" என,

தீப் பொறி பறக்க வந்தது சக்கரம் - அதன்
தீட்சண்யம் குறைந்தது அருகில் வந்ததும்.

வலம் வந்தது கணேசரை மும்முறை;
நலம் தரும் பாதங்களை நமஸ்கரித்தது.

எய்தான் சூலத்தைச் சிந்துராஜன் உடனே.
எய்தான் பரசுவை பதிலுக்கு கணேசன். .

தோன்றினர் அசுரர்கள் சூலத்திலிருந்து
தோன்றினர் பூதர்கள் பரசுவிலிருந்து

பொருதனர் தோன்றிய அசுரரும் பூதரும்
பெரிய அளவில் தொடர்ந்தது யுத்தம்

அஸ்திரங்கள் அழித்தன அஸ்திரங்களை
விஸ்தாரமான யுத்தம் நடந்த பிறகு

விடுத்தார் சூலாயுதத்தை எடுத்து கணேசர்
விழுந்தான் சிந்து ராஜன் மார்பு பிளந்ததால்.

#39t. The end of Sindhu Raajan

Sindhuraajan was not happy with himself and what he had done. "I should have gone and destroyed Ganesha myself - when I learned that he was born to destroy me. I let the opportunity go by and now he is too powerful to be destroyed.

I lost my valiant generals in the war. I lost my two valorous sons in the war. An ordinary soldier attacks me and escapes unhurt. Do all these point towards my end? If I release the Deva from my prison, I may live live long but what will happen to me name and fame?'

They will be drawn in the mud for ever and ever. I am sure to win the war or reach the veera swarga. Today I will fight with Ganesha who is born to kill me. Either he will live or I will live. Let me get this over today itself"

He went to the battle field. He threw the chakraayudam which was born along with him with the instruction" Cut off the head of that boy Ganesha"

The chakram sped towards Ganesha , spilling sparks of fire, but as it neared him, it slowed down and the sparks disappeared. It went round Ganesha thrice and did namaskaar at is feet.

Sindhu Raajan threw his soolaayudam. Ganesha threw his parasu. An army of asuras emerged from the soolaayudam. An army og Boothaas appeared from the parasu. They fought among themselves a long and hard battle. Finally Ganesha threw his soolaayudam at Sindhu Raajan and he felt dead with his chest torn open.

#39 u. சக்கரபாணி

சிந்துராஜன் மடிந்ததை அடுத்து.
சிதறி ஓடினர் எஞ்சிய வீரர்கள்.

"விடுதலை செய்வாய் தேவர்களை!"
வீரபத்திரரை அனுப்பினார் கணேசர்.

வந்தான் யுத்தகளத்துக்குச் சக்கரபாணி;
நொந்த உள்ளத்துடன் கதறி அழுதான்!

செய்து முடித்தான் சடங்குகளை எல்லாம்,
சென்று வணங்கினான் கணேசபெருமானை.

"வேண்டும் வரம் தருவேன் கேள்!" என்றார்.
"வேண்டாம் வேறு எதுவுமே என் இறைவா!

அறிவீனத்தால் சிந்து ஆனான் சத்ருவாக;
அவனைத் தாங்கள் மன்னிக்க வேண்டும்!

கணேசரை பக்தியுடன் அரசன் பூஜிக்க,
கணேசர் காட்சி தந்தார் அரசனுக்காக!

சித்தி தேவி, புத்தி தேவி சமேதராக
சிங்க வாகனத்தில் ஏறி அமர்ந்தபடி.

"நன்மை செய்வாய் நீண்ட நல்லாட்சியில்!
என் திருவடிகளை அடைவாய் முடிவில்

சிறை மீண்ட தேவர்கள் வந்து வணங்கினர்,
நிறைவோடு சென்றார் தத் தம் இருப்பிடம்

சக்கரபாணி வாழ்ந்தான் நெடுங்காலம்
அக்கறையுடன் செய்தான் நல்லாட்சி.

#39u. ChakrapaaNi

When Sindhu Raajan dropped dead, his army took to heels. Vinayaka sent Veerabadran to free the Deva from Sindhu's prison. Sindhu Raajan's father ChakrapaaNi came to the battle feild and wept over the dead body of his son. He thgen completed all the rituals and came to Ganesha to pay his obeisance.

Ganesh offerd to bestow on him any boon he sought but ChakarapaaNi did not seek anything for himself. He said,
"I beg your pardon on Sindhu Raajan's behalf. He became the enemy of Deva due to his folly. Please forgive him and accept my puja to you lotus feet"

ChakrapaaNi worshiped Ganesha who appeared with his devis on a simha vaahana. Ganesha blessed the king ChakrapaaNi, "You will live long and rule well your country. When you leave the earth you will come and merge with me" The king ChakrapaaNi ruled wisely and well for many years.

#39v. தூமாசுரன்

தூமாசுரன் மகிபாதினியை ஆண்டு வந்தான்.
உமா மகேஸ்வரனிடம் பக்தி கொண்டவன்.

ஆதரித்தான் அடியவர்களை அன்போடு;
ஆட்சி புரிந்தான் குறைவு ஏதும் இன்றி.

மந்திரிகள் எண்மர்; மகன்கள் நால்வர்;
மகிழ்ந்திருந்தான் தன் மனைவியருடன்

பிருகு முனிவர் வந்தார் தூமாசுரனிடம்;
பிருகுவைச் சீடர்களுடன் கௌரவித்தான்.

பிறகு கே ட்டான் தன் மனத்தின் ஐயத்தை,
"பிறந்தேன் அசுர குலத்தில் நான் எதற்காக?"

முக்காலமும் அறிந்தவர் பிருகு முனிவர்;
முற்கால நிகழ்ச்சிகளைக் கூறலானார்.

முற்பிறப்பில் தூமாசுரன் பெயர் விகுதி;
நற்பண்புகளும், புகழும் வாய்திருந்தான்.

இந்திரப் பதவியை விரும்பினான் விகுதி;
அந்த முயற்சியில் செய்தான் யாகங்கள்.

முடிந்தன தொண்ணூற்றொன்பது யாகங்கள்;.
மிகுந்து இருந்தது நூறாவது யாகம் மட்டுமே.

யாகத்தை முடித்துவிட்டால் சுவர்க்க
போகம் தேடி வந்து விடும் விகுதியை!

"பறிபோகுமோ பதவி?" அஞ்சினான் இந்திரன்;
பரிதவித்தான் செய்வது அறியாமல் இந்திரன்.

மன்னன் விகுதி மகேசன் அருள் பெற்றவன்;
மண்ணைக் கவ்வச் செய்யமுடியாது எளிதில்.

அபாயம் ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும் அவனுக்கு
உபாயம் ஒன்றைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதன் மூலம்.

கசக்கினான் மூளையை; நன்கு சிந்தித்தான்;
விகசிக்கவில்லை தக்க உபாயம் ஒன்றும்

நாரதர் வந்தார் நல்ல சமயத்தில் அவ்விடம்;
"நன்மைகள் செய்வேன் இந்திரா!" என்றார்.

#39 v. Dhoomaasuran

Dhoomaasuran ruled over Mahipaadini. He was a staunch devotee of lord Siva. He took good care of his citizens and ruled well. He had five wives, four sons and eight ministers and lived a happy and contented life.

Once Brugu rushi came to meet him along with his disciples. Dhoomaasuran welcomed them and looked after their needs. He then asked his long standing doubt to the sage Brugu, "Why was I born as an asuran?" Brugu knew all the happenings in the past and told him this.

"In your previous birth you were a king named Viguthi. You aspired for the position of Indra and started doing the required one hundred yaagaas. You successfully completed ninety nine and only the last yaagaa remained to be completed.

If that were completed then you would become the new Indra. So Indra got worried and wanted to retain his post and place in the heaven. Since you were a good king, he could not resort to any tricks or treachery.

He tried to think up a scheme but nothing occurred to him! Just then Narada came to him and said, "I will make sure that your post and position in swargga are not endangered"

#39w . சிவஜன்மன்

யாக சாலைக்குப் புறப்பட்டார் நாரதர்,
ஆகிவிட்டார் வயோதிக அந்தணராக.

தட்டுத் தடுமாறி கையில் கோலுடன்,
கிட்டே வந்தார் விகுதி ராஜனிடம்.

ஆசனம் அளித்து உபசரித்தான் - "உமது
அவசியத் தேவை எது?" எனக் கேட்டான்.

'சிவஜன்மன் என்பது என் பெயர் - நான்
கிழஜன்மன் ஆகிவிட்டேன் பார் இன்று.

பிரமச்சரியம் காத்து வந்தேன் இதுவரை.
இறக்கும்முன் துய்க்க வேண்டும் இன்பம்.

எனது அவசியத் தேவை உன் மனைவி!"
என்று கூறினார் சிவஜன்மனான நாரதர்.

திடுக்கிட்டு நின்றுவிட்டான் விகுதி ராஜன்
'அடுக்குமா இது உலகில்?" எனச் சிந்தித்தான்.

'பிறன் மனைவியைத் தானம் கேட்பதா?
அறம் ஒத்துக் கொள்ளுமா இதனை?'

"தரும நெறிக்குப் புறம்பானது இது.
தருவேன் வேறெதை விரும்பினாலும்."

"வாக்குத் தந்தாய் நீயாகவே வந்து எனக்கு;
சாக்குப் போக்குச் சொல்கிறாய் இப்போது "

"ஆண்டு அனுபவித்த மனைவியை நான்
மீண்டும் தானமாக எப்படித் தருவேன்?

தகாத பொருளைத் தானம் கேட்பதும் பாவம்
தகாத பொருளைத் தானம் தருவதும் பாவம்!"

"ஆர்வத்தை உருவாக்கி விட்டு விட்டு என்
ஆர்வத்தைக் குலைக்கிறாய் நீயே இப்போது.

யாகசாலைக்கு வந்து தானம் கேட்டவர்
போகக் கூடாது திரும்பி ஏமாற்றத்துடன்.

யாகம் பூர்த்தி ஆகவேண்டும் என்றால்
போகப் பொருளைத் தர மறுக்காதே!"

#39w. Sivajanman

Narada changed himself into an old and infirm Brahmin and walked to the yagasaalaa with a stick in hand and in faltering steps. Viguthi Raajan welcomed him, offered him a seat and asked about his requirements.

"My name is Sivajanman. I observed brahmacharyam till now. I want to enjoy the pleasure of wedded life before I die. So I want your wife as a gift"

Viguthi Raajan was taken aback by this strange request. How can a man donate a woman whom he had married and enjoyed for many years. He told the old man, "I can you anything you want but not my wife. It is against Dharma to give away one's wife to another man."

Sivajanman (Narada) found fault with Viguthi Raajan and said, "When I came here you promised to give me anything I desired but now you are going back on your promise."

Viguthi told the old man,"A gift must be worthy of giving away. Asking for an improper gift is a sin. Giving away an improper thing is also sin".

Now the old man threatened Viguthi Raajan, "You know very well that you have to give away anything anyone desires in order to complete this yaaga. If I go away empty handed you can't complete your yaaga"

#39x. சிவஜன்மன்

விகுதி ராஜன் அடைந்தான் மனத் துயரம்
'விதி வாழ்வில் விளையாடுமோ இப்படி?'

"பத்தினியை யாசித்தீர்கள் ஐயா நீங்கள்.
பத்தினிக்குச் சமம் ஆகும் ஒருவன் நாடு.

தந்து விடுகிறேன் என் நாட்டை உமக்கே.
வந்து நிற்பார்கள் இளம் கன்னிகள் இங்கே!

விரும்பியவளைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து உங்கள்
விருப்பம்போல வாழலாம் நீங்கள்!" என்றான்.

என்ன சொன்னாலும் ஏற்கவில்லை கிழவன்.
எண்ணம் யாகத்தைக் குலைப்பது ஆயிற்றே!

"உன் புகழ்ச்சி மொழிகள் எல்லாம் பொய்!
உண்மை என்று நம்பி ஏமாந்து விட்டேன்.

என் காரியம் நிறைவேறவில்லை அதனால்
உன் யாகமும் பூர்த்தி ஆகாது ஒருபோதும்."

விகுதி ராஜன் அவரைப் போக விடவில்லை
"தகுதி இல்லாத பொருளைத் தரமாட்டேன்.

இன்று தங்கிவிடுங்கள்; உணவு அருந்திவிட்டு
சென்று விடலாம் நாளைக் காலைவிடிந்ததும்"

சிவஜன்மன் சினம் கொண்டு சபித்தான்;
கவலைப்படவில்லை தன் செய்கைக்கு.

"பிரமச்சரியம், பின் இல்லறம், வானப்
பிரஸ்தம் என்று எண்ணியிருந்தேன்.

குலைத்துவிட்டாய் என் எண்ணங்களை!
கெடுத்துவிட்டாய் என் வாழ்க்கையினை!

அசுரனாகப் பிறப்பாய் அடுத்தபிறவியில்;
அழித்தான் சிவஜன்மன் யாகசாலையை.

வந்தவர் நாரதர் என உணர்ந்தான் விகுதி
இந்திரன் பதவியைக் காக்கவே வந்தார்.

உண்மை தெரிந்தபின் மனம் தேறினான்.
ஜன்மம் எடுத்தான் தூமராஜனாக அடுத்து.

#39x. Sivajanman

Viguthi Raajan was saddened by the cruel play of Fate in his life. He made a fresh offer to the old man. “The country of a King is equated to his wife. I shall give away my entire kingdom to you. All the pretty young girls will line up here. You may select the one you like best and live with her happily.”

But the old man was adamant and will compromise on anything – since he had come there in order to ruin the yaagaa. “I have heard so much about you good qualities, but now I find that they are all utter lies. My request was not fulfilled by you. So your yaagaa will not be fulfilled either.”

Viguthi Raajan did not allow the old man to go off in a huff. He pleaded with him to stay there for the night and leave the next day after eating something.

But the old man did not listen to his words. He cursed Viguhti Raajan, “I was planning to get married and go for Vaanaprastaa later. But you have ruined all my plans. You will be born as an asuran in your next birth”

Viguthi Raajan realized that it was Narada who had come disguised as an old an in order to help Indra retain his power and position. He could console himself after realizing this truth. Now he was born as Dhoomaasuran in this birth.

#39y. சுமுதை

மாதவன் ஆண்டான் மகிபாதினியை;
மனைவி கற்புக்குக்கரசியான சுமுதை.

புத்திரப் பேறு இல்லை இவர்களுக்கு;
நித்தம் குறைகூறினான் மனைவியை.

'வெறுமையான வாழ்வே தண்டனை!
வெறுக்கும் கணவனும் தேவையா?' என

நாட்டைத் துறந்து விட்டாள் சுமுதை;
காட்டுக்குச் சென்றாள் தவம் செய்திட.

'விரதத்தால் புத்திரபேறு! அன்றேல்
இரையாவேன் வனவிலங்குகளுக்கு!'

நாரணனைக் குறித்துச் செய்தாள் தவம்;
நான்கு புறங்களிலும் மறைத்தன புதர்கள்!

விஷ்ணுவாகத் தோன்றினார் விநாயகர்,
"வேண்டும் வரம் யாது?" என்று கேட்டார்.

'திருக்குமாரனாக நீர் அவதரிக்க வேண்டும்.
திரும்பவும் கணவனின் அன்பு வேண்டும்"

"நிறைவேறும் விருப்பம் விரைவில்!"
உறுதி மொழி அளித்தார் இறைவன்.

தவம் ஆக்கியது புடமிட்ட பொன்னாக.
தவத்தால் ஒளிர்ந்தாள் தேககாந்தியுடன்.

கண்டவர் வியந்தனர் தேககாந்தியால்!
கணவனும் வியந்தான் தேககாந்தியால்!

இல்லறம் இனிக்கலானது இருவருக்கும்
சொல்லிய சொல்லும் பலித்தது விரைவில்.

கருவுற்றாள் சுமுதை, மனம் மகிழ்ந்தாள்;
கருவிலே உருவானவன் நாராயணனே!

#39y. Sumudai


Madavan ruled over Mahipaadini. Sumudai was his loyal wife. They did not have any children. Madavan kept blaming Sumudai for this. She yearned for a child and her husband's cruel words tortured her.

She decided to go to the forest and do penance. She said to herself. 'Either I will come back with a boon for a son or I will end up as food for the wild beasts there."

She meditated of Naarayanan. Several years passed by and she was completely covered bu the plants and bushes all around her. Vinayaka appeared to her as Vishnu and blessed her.

Sumudai asked for two boons, "I must beget you as my son. I must win back my husband's love" God blessed her and granted her these boons.

Sumudai went back to her country. Now she glowed with the aura her severe penance had bestowed on her. People were wonder struck to see her glow like pure gold. Her husband Madavan was also surprised by her glow and accepted her with affection. They lived happily and soon Sumudai conceived a son. It was Narayana himself who was in her womb.
