1 (# 19). படை எழுதல்.

திருமால் கூறினர் வாயுதேவனிடம்,
"முருகன் தேரை நீ செலுத்துவாய்!"

வாயு தேரைச் செலுத்தலானான்.
பாயும் தேரில் அமர்ந்தான் முருகன்;

தேவர் மகிழ்ந்தனர் "முருகன் அருளால்
யாவரின் துயரமும் விரைவில் தீரும்."

மொய்த்தனர் முருகனைப் படைவீரர்;
மொய்த்தனர் வீரரை முனிவர், தேவர்;

கயிலையில் இருந்தன பலப்பல பூதங்கள்.
கயிலை நாதன் அருளினான் சில பூதங்கள்.

ஈராயிரம் வெள்ளம் பூதங்கள் அங்கு வந்தன
நூற்றெட்டு படைத் தலைவர் தலைமையில்.

போர் முரசங்கள் கடலென முழங்கிடப்
போர்ப்படைகள் கடலென நகர்ந்தன.

ஆறுமுகனும், அரிய படைவீரர்களும்,
சேர்ந்தனர் நிலவுலகின் மேற்பரப்பை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
1 (# 19 ). THE ARMY MOVES ON.

Vishnu told Vayu," You become Murugan's charioteer"
Vayu agreed and the chariot traveled faster than human thoughts.

Devas felt happy that their troubles would be over soon.
Murugan was hailed by his warriors. The warriors were hailed b the rushis and Devas.

Two thousand units of Siva ganas reached there under the leadership of one hundred and eight commanders.

War drums roared louder than the oceans. The army traveled like the waves of an ocean. The entire army reached the surface of the earth.
 
1. (# 20 a). கிரௌஞ்ச மலை.

படையுடன் சென்ற முருகனுக்குத்
தடையாக நின்றது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை.

சரியான சமயத்தில் வந்தார் அங்கே
திரிலோக சஞ்சாரியாகிய நாரதர்.

"குறுமுனி சாபம் பெற்றது இம்மலை.
நிறைந்த வஞ்சகம் கொண்டது இது.

தாரகன் என்னும் சூரன் தம்பி-மலைச்
சாரலில் உள்ளான் மாயாபுரியில்!

ஆனைமுகம் கொண்டவன், பலவான்,
ஆழிப்படையையே அணிந்திருப்பவன்.

தம்பி உடையான் படைக்கு அஞ்சான்.
தாரகனை ஒழித்தால் சூரனை அழிக்கலாம்!"

நல்ல யோசனையைக் கூறினார் நாரதர்;
வெல்லும் வழியை வெளிச்சம் இட்டார்.

வீரபாகுவுக்குக் கந்தனின் ஆணை இது,
"சூரன் தம்பியை வென்று வருவாய்!"

நூறு ஆயிரத்து ஒன்பது வீரர்களுக்கும்
தேர்கள் செய்தான் தெய்வத் தச்சன்.

பூதங்கள் சென்று நுழைந்தன நகரில்,
பூதங்கள் பொருதனர் அவுணர்களுடன்!

தூதர்கள் விரைந்தனர் செய்தியுடன்,
தாரகனிடன் உரைத்தனர் விரிவாக.

செய்தி கேட்ட தாரகன் சீறினான்,
"மெய்யாகவே நம்மை வெல்லுவானா?"

ஆணை இட்டான் படைகளைத் திரட்ட.
ஆனை முகத்தான் ஏறினான் தேரினில்.

சுழன்றன குடைகள்,வெண்சாமரங்கள்;
ஒலித்தது வலம்புரியும், போர்முரசும்;

ஆனை, குதிரை, தேர், படைகளுடன்
ஆனைமுக அசுரன் நகர் நீங்கினான்.

கடலோடு கடல் கலந்தது போல அங்கு
படையோடு படை கலந்து பொருதது.

குருதியாறு பொங்கிப் பெருகியது!
பெருத்த சேதம் இரு படைகளுக்கும்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
1 (#20 A) THE MOUNT KROUNJAM.

The Krounja giri obstructed Murugan's advancing army. Narada appeared there and told Murugan about the Krounja giri.

"This Krounja giri has been cursed by sage Agasthya. It is full of tricks and black magic. Soorapadman's younger bother Thaarakan lives in Maayaapuri situated near the mountain.

He is elephant-faced. He is very powerful. He wears Vishnu's Sudharshan as his neck ornament. If you defeat Thaarakan, then winning over Soorapadman will become a child's play!"

Murugan agreed eagerly to defeat Thaarakan. He ordered the eldest nava sakthi kumaran Veerabaahu to defeat Thaarakan in a war. The divine carpenter got the chariots ready for all the warriors in an instant!

The army promptly left for Maayaapuri, entered the city and started fighting the asuras. Messengers fled to inform Thaarakan about the army of Murugan.
Thaarakan became very angry. He ordered his army to get ready for the war immediately.

He went to the war front with the chathuranga sena. The armies moved in as if two oceans were merging. A violent battle ensued. Soon a river of blood started to flow since there was a heavy loss of warriors on both the armies engaged in the battle.

 
ஒரு சிறு அறிவிப்பு.

இனி வரும் போர்க்காட்சிகளை நான்
இனிமையாக்கித் தர விரும்புகின்றேன்;

யார் யார் எத்தனை அம்பு எய்தார்கள்?
எவர் எவர் எவ்வாறு வீழ்ந்து மடிந்தனர்?

தேவை இல்லை நமக்குப் புள்ளி விவரங்கள்!
சுவையான காட்சிகளைத் தவறாமல் தருவேன்.:pray2:
 
A notification:-

We do not require the statistics as to how many arrows were shot, by whom, on whom and how each warrior fell dead.

So I will present none of those gory scenes here
but will surely present all the interesting scenes
from the battle field. :pray2:
 
1 ( # 20 b). தாரகனுடன் போர்.

அண்டம் குலுங்கும் வண்ணம் தாரகன்
தண்டத்தை எடுத்துப் போர் புரிந்தான்;

பூதப் படைகளின் கணைகள் அவனுக்கு
ஏதும் தீது விளைவிக்கவில்லை விந்தை!

நூறு ஆயிரம்பேரையும் வாரி எடுத்து
நீரில் வீழும்படிக் கடலில் வீசினான்.

ஒன்பது வீரரும் சினம் கொண்டனர்.
ஒன்பதின்மருடன் ஒரு மாயப்போர்.

தாரகன் சென்று ஒளிந்து கொண்டான்
கிரௌஞ்ச மலையின் ஒரு குகையில்;

துரத்தி வந்த வீராபகுத்தேவரும் அங்கு
உறங்கலானார் மலை செய்த மாயத்தால்!

தேடிவந்த தம்பிகள் குகையில் நுழைய
ஓடியது அறிவு; தழுவியது உறக்கம்!

பூதப் படைத் தலைவர்களும் குகையில்;
பூதங்கள் அஞ்சிப் புறமுதுகிடலாயினர்.

நாரதர் விரைந்தார் திரு முருகனிடம்,
"தாரகன் செய்கிறான் மாயப் போர்!

படைத் தலைவர்களும், ஒன்பதின்மரும்
கிடக்கின்றனர் குகையில் உறக்கத்தில்!"

"அஞ்ச வேண்டாம் கொஞ்சமும் நீங்கள்!
க்ரௌஞ்சத்தைப் பிளந்து அவரை மீட்பேன்.

தாரகனைப் இப்போரிலே வெல்லுவேன்!"
தேரினில் ஏறினான் வாயுதேவனுடன்;

முருகனைக் கண்டதும் திரும்பின பூதங்கள்;
மறுபடிப் போர் தொடர்ந்து நடந்தது.

அவுணர்கள் பலர் அழிந்து போயினர்.
அவுணர்கள் பலர் புறமுதுகிட்டனர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
1 (# 20 B) WAR WITH THAARAKAN.

Thaarakan charged wildly, wielding his Vajra dhandam, making the whole world tremble. The arrows and asthras shot by the Siva ganas did not deter him at all.

He grabbed the hundred thousand warriors and tossed them into the sea. The nava sakthi kumaaraas became very angry. Thaarakan decided to use a different tactics now.

He ran and hid himself in a cave in the Krounja giri. Veerabaahu went looking for him and fell into deep slumber-due to the effect of the tricky mountain.

The other eight brothers and the hundred and eight commanders came in search of him and they all fell asleep.

Without a commander, the army of the ganas started running aimlessly and away form the battle field. Narada who was closely watching the events rushed to report them to lord Murugan.

Murugan decided to go to the war front himself. He sat on the chariot driven by Vayu Devan and reached Maayaapuri in no time. The ganas took courage at the sight of Murugan and returned to the battle field.

Now it was the turn of asuras to lay dead and many of them fled away from the battle field.
 
1. ( # 20. C) சொற்போர்.

ஆறு பூரண சந்திரவதனங்களைக் கண்டு
தாரகன் கேட்டான், "இவனா சிவகுமரன்?"

சிவனுக்கும், எனக்கு பகை இல்லையே!
அவன் மகன் என்னை எதிர்ப்பது ஏன்?"

"தேவர்களைச் சிறை இட்டீர்கள் நீங்கள்,
தேவர் பிரான் ஆணைப்படி வந்தேன்!"

"கருட வாஹனன் திருமால் உருளை-என்
கழுத்தணி ஆன கதையை அறிவாயா?"

"மாலின் உருளை அணிகலன் ஆகலாம்!
வேலின் சக்தியை நீயும் அறிவாயா?'

கடும் போர் துவங்கி பாணங்கள் பறந்தன.
கொடும் பாணங்கள் மயங்கின அசுரனை.

மயக்கம் தீர்ந்து எழுந்தான் மீண்டும்;
தயக்கம் இன்றி முருகன் மீது அவன் எய்த

விஷ்ணு அஸ்த்திரம், பிரம அஸ்த்திரம்
விழுந்து வணங்கிப் பின் ஒதுங்கி நின்றன.

சிவ அஸ்த்திரத்தை எடுத்துத் தொடுக்க,
சிவகுமரனைச் சேர்ந்து நின்றது அது!

"சிறுவன் என எண்ணினேன் இவனை!
குறும்புத்தனமாகவே வென்றிடுவானோ?

இனி உதவிடும் மாயப் போர் முறைகள்.
தனித்து நின்றாகிலும் நானே வெல்வேன்!"

கிரௌஞ்ச மலையிடம் கட்டளை இட்டான்;
"சிரமம் இன்றி வெல்ல மாயைகள் செய்வாய்!

முப்புரங்களாக வந்தது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை,
அப்புரங்களில் அவுணன் ஆனான் அவன்.

முகில் வடிவு எடுத்து வந்தது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை,
முகிலில் இடியாக மறைந்து வந்தான் அவன்!

கடல் வடிவு எடுத்து வந்தது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை.
கடலினுள் வடவாக்னி ஆக வந்தான் அவன்.

இருள் வடிவு எடுத்து வந்தது கிரௌஞ்ச மலை,
இருளில் பூதமாக உறைந்து வந்தான் அவன்.

1 (# 20 C) THE WAR OF WORDS.

Thaarakan saw the boy whose six faces resembled six full moons!

"Is he Siva's son? I have no enmity with Siva. Then why has he come to fight with me?"

"You have imprisoned Devas and Apsaras. I came here as ordered by my father"

"Do you know that I am wearing the Sudarshan of Vishnu as pendent in my neck?"

"Vishnu's Sudharshan may become your pendant, but it is time you realised the power of my spear!"

A terrible war ensued. Arrows whizzed through the air. Thaarakan fainted in the battle field. He came around a little later.

He shot Brahma's asthram and Vishnu's asthram on Murugan. They paid their respects to Murugan and stood by his side.

Thaarakan shot Siva's asthram on Murugan. It went right into his hand-ready to be used by him.

Thaarakan got frightened for the first time. "I thought he was just a child but he may win over me in a child's play. Now it is time to resort to magic."

He ordered the Krounja giri, "Do various tricks and help me win the war."

The mountain transformed into Tripuram. He came hiding as an asura in it.

The mountain transformed into a huge cloud. He came hiding in it as the thunder.

The mountain transformed into an ocean. He came hiding as the vadavaagni in it.

The mountain transformed into darkness. He came hiding in it as a demon.

மாய விளையாட்டுக்களைக் கண்ட முருகன்;
"தீயவனைத் தப்ப விடக்கூடாது!" என்றான்.

சக்தி வேலிடம் ஆணை இட்டான் முருகன்,
"புத்தி கெட்ட தாரகன் கதையை முடித்து விடு!

தந்திரம் செய்யும் கிரௌஞ்சதைப் பிளந்து
அங்கு மயங்கிய தம்பிகளை மீட்டு வா!"

வேலைப் பிடிக்க முயன்றான் தாரகன்;
வேல் பாய்ந்தது தாரகன் மார்பினில்;

கிரௌஞ்ச கிரியையும் பிளந்தது வேல்,
பிரபஞ்சம் நடுங்கும் பேரோசையுடன்!

துயிலும் வீரர்களை துயில் எழுப்பியது!
தூய கங்கையில் நீராடி மீண்டு வந்தது!

முருகன் வெற்றியை அறிந்த தேவர்கள்,
பெருமகிழ்வுடன் ஆனந்தக் கூத்தாடினர்.

மயக்கம் நீங்கி எழுந்து வந்தவர்கள்,
மாயோன் மருகனை வணங்கி நின்றனர்.

சிவப் படைக் கலத்தை வீர பாகுவுக்கு
சிவக்குமரன் அளித்தான் அன்புடன்.

இறந்த கணங்களை உயிர்ப்பித்து எழுப்பி
தெற்கே செல்லலானான் படைகளுடன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
1 (# 20 D). THE FALL OF THAARAKAN.

Murugan saw all the tricks played by the mountain and Taarakan. He said to himself "It is time to an end to the asuran"

He ordered to his spear,"Finish off the foolish Thaarakan and his tricky mountain. Awaken all my brother and commanders who lie asleep inside the mountain!"

The spear charged forward towards Thaarakan. He tried to catch hold of it. But it pierced his chest and he fell down howling in pain and died.

The spear broke through the mountain with a deafening noise. It woke up all the nine brothers and the one hundred and eight commanders lying asleep there.

It went to the river Ganges and took a holy dip. It cam back to Murugan's hands.

The nine brothers and the commanders prostrated to Murugan. The Devas celebrated the fall of Thaaragan and victory of Murugan.

Murugan brought back to life all the ganas killed in the war. He was all set to travel southwards.
 
1 (# 21) . தேவகிரி.

முருகனுடன் நான்முகன், தேவேந்திரன்,
திருமால்,தேவர்கள் சென்றனர் தெற்கே.

ஆதவன் மறையும் நேரத்தில் சென்று
அடைந்தனர் தேவகிரியை அவர்கள்;

"தாரகனை அழித்து தேவர்கள் துயரம்
வேரறுத்த உன்னை வழிபட வேண்டும்.

எழுந்தருள்வாய் தேவகிரியின் மீது!
விழுந்து வணங்கும் பேறு தருவாய்!"

தேவத்தச்சனுக்கு ஆணை இட்டனர்,
"தேவர்கள் தங்க நகர் அமைப்பாய்!"

அழகிய நகரம் எழுந்தது அங்கே!
அழகன் முருகனுக்குப் பொற்கோவில்.

மணிகள் இழைத்த அரியணை ஒன்றும்
கணப் பொழுதில் அங்கே தயார் ஆகின.

முருகனும் தேவர்களும் புகுந்தனர்- மனம்
விரும்பும்படி அமைந்த கோவிலினுள்.

தனி வலிவுடைய குமரனை நீராட்ட
புனித கங்கை நீர் வர வேண்டுமே!

மனத்தால் நினைத்ததும் கங்கைநீர்
கணத்தில் தோன்றியது அங்கே!

அணிகலன்கள், ஆடைகள், மலர்கள்,
மணிமாலைகள், வாசனை திரவியங்கள்!

குறைவற நடந்தது புனித நீராட்டு - மன
நிறைவுற்று மகிழ்ந்தனர் குழுமி இருந்தோர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
1 (# 21) . DEVA GIRI.

Murugan was accompanied by Brahma, Vishnu, Indran and the other Devas. They went south and reached
Deva Giri at sunset.

The Devas spoke to Murugan, "You have rid us of the asura Thaarakan. We want to worship you. Please allow us to worship you, here in this Deva Giri!"

The divine carpenter was ordered to create city for the Devas and temple for Murugan. A beautiful city arose in no time.

There a temple was made of Gold for Murugan. A throne studded with precious gems was set in the temple for Murugan.

They all entered the temple. Murugan was made to sit on the throne.

They needed water from Ganges for the abhishekham. Even as they thought of Ganges, her water appeared there.

Ornaments, silks, flowers, garlands and incenses appeared there. Murugan was worshipped duly and everyone felt happy to be the present there.
 
1 (# 22 a). மனைவியரும், மகனும்.

ஆறுமுகனின் வேற்படை குன்றைப் பிளந்து
ஆனைமுக அசுரனைக் கொன்ற செய்தியை,

தாரகன் மனைவி செளரி அறிந்தனள்;
தாளாத் துயருடன் களம் சென்றனள்.

"ஆழிப் படையை அளித்த திருமால்
ஊழ்வினை ஒழிந்தது என மகிழ்வாரோ?

சிவன் அளித்த மேன்மைகள் எல்லாம்
அவன் மகனால் பொய்யாகிவிட்டனவே!

அரியணையில் அமர்ந்து அவுணர்கள் சூழ
அரிய ஆட்சி நீயும் புரிந்து வந்தாயே!

தருவது போலத் தந்த மேன்மைகளை
சிறுவனை விட்டு அழித்த சூழ்ச்சி என்ன?"

அசுரபுரி சென்றிருந்த தாரகனின் மகன்
அசுரேந்திரன் திரும்பினான் மாயாபுரி;

தந்தைக்கு ஈமச் சடங்குகள் செய்துவிட்டு
சந்தனக் கட்டைகளில் எரி ஊட்டினான்.

தடுத்தும் கேளாமல் தாரகன் மனைவியர்
விடுத்தனர் உயிரை உடன் கட்டை ஏறி.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.


 
1 (# 22 A). ASURENDRAN.

The news of the death of Taarakan at the hands of Murugan reached his wife Souri Devi. She was overcome with deep sorrow. She went to the battle field and lamented over her husband's dead body.

"Vishnu who had surrendered his Sudharshan to you would be rejoicing now. Siva gave you many boons but they have been shattered by his own son! You used to sit on the throne surrounded by the asuras. Siva cheated you by giving the boons and taking them away through his own son."

At the time of the war, Asurendran - Thaarakan's son - was visiting Asurapuri of Simha mukhan. He learned the demise of his father and returned to Mayapuri in great haste.

He performed the last rites of his father and cremated him on a pile of sandal wood. The queens of Taarakan could not be deterred from performing sati. By sitting on the pyre with their dead husband, they all willingly gave up their lives!
 
1 (# 22 c) அமைச்சரின் அறிவுரை.

மதி அமைச்சன் அமோகன் கண்டான்,
கதி கலங்கிய அரசன் சூரபத்மனை.

"நன்றே பகர்கின்றேன் கொற்றவா - உன்
நன்மை கருதியே புகலுகின்றேன் இதை.

நகரை முற்றுகை இட்டபோதிலும் நாம்
மிகக் கவனமாகவே களம் புகவேண்டும்.

சினத்துடன் படை எடுத்துச் சென்றால்,
மனத்தில் நினைப்பது நடந்து விடாது.

ஆற்றல் அறியவேண்டும் பகைவனது,
ஒற்றர்கள் உதவியால் சாத்தியமாகும்.

ஒப்பாரும், மிக்காரும் இல்லாதவன் நீ!
முப்பத்து முக்கோடி தேவர்களின் தலைவன்;

சிறுவனை எதிர்த்துச் செல்லவேண்டுமா நீயே?
சிறுவனின் ஆற்றல் அறிந்து கொள்ளுவாய்!

ஆராய்ந்து அமைச்சர்களுடன் முடிவு எடு!
வீராதி வீரா! விவேகத்துடன் செயல்படு!"

சொலல் வல்ல அமைச்சனின் சொற்கள்
செவி வழிச் சென்று மதியில் பதிந்ததன.

சினத்தைக் கைவிட்டுச் சிலரை விளித்தான்;
மனத்தைத் திறந்து பேசினான் அவருடன்;

ஆறுமுகனின் இயல்பினையும், படையின்
ஆற்றலையும் கண்டறியச் சொன்னான்.

அரசனின் ஆணையை சிரமேற்கொண்டு
விரைந்து சென்றனர் திறமிகு ஒற்றர்கள்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
1.(# 22 C). THE MINISTER'S ADVICE.

Soorapadman's minister named Amogan was his well-wisher. He spoke to Sooran,

"I wish for your welfare. So I am taking the liberty of speaking out these words to you O king! Even if we are under a siege, we must not rush out blindly to the battle field. Anger does not help us to win a war.

We must first find out the strength of our enemy. Our spies can take care of this. You are the unparalleled king and the leader of the Devas. Why should you go to the war front in person?

Send you spies and tell them to find out the strength and weakness of the son of Siva and his army of ganas. You consult the other minister before making any decision. Discretion is the better part of valour."

Soorapadman understood the truth in this advice. He ordered his ablest spies to find out everything about Murugan and his army. The spies left immediately as instructed by their king.
 
In these days, when many Tamil Brahmins are 'putting on vesham', with 'kudi, koothu oru pakkam' and an 'orthodox appearance and the following of customary rites and rituals innoru pakkam',your verses are indeed an inspiring collection! The Tamil Brahmin women continue to remain the saving grace of the community generally!

Thank you for the feedback.

I strongly believe that only women can maintain the culture, heritage, customs and the honour of the family.

When the woman falls... everything topples. In Gita it is said, when the women degrade themselves everything will have its down fall.

Woman is the rudder of the boat called family and it keeps the boat steer in the right path. But for women the world will be much more horrible place.

That is why so much importance was given to the sterling character of women in the past!

Now we talk of equality of the sexes and of women's liberation and ask "Why should boys have all the fun?"

The result is the present day situation. But life goes in cycles.

I am sure very soon women will return to their original position - which was in my opinion much higher than that held by men -
in the past.

I was told by my B. I. law's son in law that men high placed is the society swap their wives and no one feels any guilt about it.

They want variety.

I was shocked and asked how their wives agree to this proposal?

He said that they would all be drunk to their eye brows and won't know the difference between their husband and other men!

That is the life style of the social men and women!

1 (# 23). வழி நடை.

தேவகிரியில் எழுந்தருளிய திருக்குமரன்
திவாகரன் உதித்ததும் வழி நடக்கலானான்.

சிவபெருமானின் இடப்பாகத்தை அடைய
சிவகாமி தொழுத திருக்கேதாரம் கண்டான்.

முக்கட்பிரானே உண்மைப் பரம்பொருள் என
மக்கட்குணர்த்திய திருக்காசி நகர் கண்டான்;

சிவன் எழுந்தருள வேண்டி நந்தி மலையாகிச்
சிவனை முடிமேல் தாங்கிய திருப்பருப்பதம்;

திருமாலும், தேவர்களும் சிவனை வழிபட்ட
திருவேங்கடம் என்னும் அழகிய திருமலை;

சிலந்தியும், பாம்பும், யானையும், கண்ணப்பரும்,
சிவகோசரியாரும், நக்கீரரும், கன்னியர்களும்,

விண்ணுலக வாழ்வைப் பெற்று மகிழ்ந்திட்ட
தென்கயிலை எனப்புகழ்பெற்ற திருக்காளத்தி;

செருக்கு மிகுந்தாடிய காளியை ஐயன் வென்ற
திரு ஆலங்காடு என்னும் அழகிய திருத்தலம்;

ஊழிக்காலத்திலும் கூட அழிவற்றதாகி நிற்கும்
பாழடைவே இல்லாத அழகிய காஞ்சி மாநகர்;

அடிமுடி இல்லாத சோதியாகிய சிவபிரான்
அடியவர்க்கு முக்தி தரும் திருவண்ணாமலை;

முதியவராகிச் சுந்தரரின் அடிமை ஓலை காட்டி
வதுவையைத் தடுத்த திருவெண்ணெய் நல்லூர்,

ஐந்தெழுத்தின் உண்மையை போதித்து அதனால்
ஐயமின்றி முக்தி தரும் திருத்தலம் விருத்தாசலம்;

இருமுனிவருக்காக பிரான் ஆனந்த கூத்தாடிய
திருத்தில்லை என்னும் சிதம்பரத்தையும் கண்டு;

அப்பனையும், அம்மையையும் வணங்கிப் பின்
அடைந்தான் அழகிய காவிரிநதிக் கரையினை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
1 (# 23). THE LONG TRAVEL.

When the Sun rise on the next day, Murugan and his army started travelling. They visited Thiruk Kedaaram where Sivakaami worshipped Siva and became the left half of his body.

Murugan visited Kasi which proves to the world that Siva is the supreme God.

He visited Thirup paruppatham where Nandhi had become a mountain - in order to make Siva appear there.

He visited the Thiru Venkata giri where Devas and Vishnu worshipped Siva.

He visited Kaalhasthi which had given mukthi to Siva's sincere devotes including a spider, a snake and an elephant.

He visited the Aalangaadu where Siva defeated Kali in a dance competition and destroyed her pride and ego.

He visited Kaanchi which will not destroyed even during the Pralaya. He visited the Thiru Annaamalai where Siva became a jothi with neither a beginning nor an end.

He visited the Thiru Vennainalloor where Siva stopped Sundarar's wedding-proving that he was Siva's slave.

He visited Virudhaachalam and finally Thillai Chithambaram. He worshipped Siva and Uma and reached the lovely bank of river Kaveri.
 
1 ( # 24). குமாரபுரி.

கதிரவன் மேற்கில் மறையலானான்;
"புது நகர் அமைத்து ஈண்டு எழுந்தருள்க!"

தேவர்கள் வேண்டினர் குமரக் கடவுளை;
தேவத்தச்சன் அமைத்தான் ஒரு நகர்;

முருகன் எழுந்தருளிய அந் நகருக்குத்
திருச் சேய்ஞலூர் என்ற அழகிய பெயர்!

பிரமன் முதலிய தேவர்கள் தமக்குத்
தரப்பட்ட அரியணைகளில் அமர்ந்தனர்.

தாரகனும், கிரௌஞ்சமும் அழிந்ததால்-மன
பாரம் சற்று நீங்கினான் தேவேந்திரன்.

வனதேவதை ஒன்று வந்தது அங்கே;
கனக ஆபரண மூட்டையைத் தந்தது;

இந்திராணியின் நகைகளைப் பாதுகாக்க
இந்திரன் தந்திருந்தான் தேவதையிடம்.

அணிகலன்களைக் கண்டதுமே மனைவியை
அணைக்கும் ஆவல் பெருகியது இந்திரனுக்கு.

ஏவலர்கள் மூட்டையைக் கட்டிய பிறகும்
காமநோய் அவனை வட்டி வதைத்தது;

கதிரவன் எழுந்ததும் மறைந்தது காமம்;
பதைபதைத்துப் பணிந்தான் குமரனை;

"ஐயனை வழிபட விழைகின்றேன் - நான்
செய்யும் பூஜைக்குப் பொருள் தருவிப்பாய்!

ஏவலர் தந்தனர் திருவிளக்கு, நறும்புகை,
பூ மலர், பொன்னாடை, திருவமுதுகள்.

இறைவனுக்கு அமைத்தான் திருக்கோவில்
முறைப்படி அமைத்தான் அதில் சிவக்குறி!

வழிபாடுகள் செய்து போற்றினர் அனைவரும்,
வெளிப்பட்டார் உமையுடன் சிவபெருமான்;

மக்களுக்கு வழங்கினர் தன் நல்லாசிகள்,
மகனுக்குத் தன் ருத்ர பாசுபத அஸ்த்திரம்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
