A poem a day to keep all agonies away!

2 (#25). Vindhya giri pushed down.

Agasthya visited the holy places on his way and reached the Vindhya giri. "I am on my way to the Pothigai giri. Please let me go past you!".

Vindhya replied arrogantly," I stop the passage of the sun and the moon. I will not give way to you and let you pass by. Go back to where you are coming from!"

Agasthya was undaunted by this reply. He stretched his hand and placed it on the top of the Vindhya giri. He pushed it down with all his might.

Now the Vindhya descended to the paatala and was in the same level as Adhisesha. It felt humiliated and became humbler. It begged to the sage,

"Please forgive me and my arrogance. When will I regain my original place of glory?" "When I come back here again, you will rise to your original place of glory" the sage replied.

Vindhya was now in the paataala. The devas rained flowers down from the sky. The sage shrunk his hand to its original size and went on his way to Podhigai giri.
 
2 # 26. வேடதாரி முனிவன்.

சொல்லின் செல்வர் அகத்தியர் வருகையை
வில்வலனும், வாதாபியும் அறிந்திருந்தனர்.

ருசித்துப் புசிக்க முடிவு செய்தனர் அவரை,
ருத்திராக்ஷப் பூனை ஆனான் வில்வலன்.

தலையில் தொங்கும் ஜடாமுடி, திருநீறு,
பலவித ருத்திராக்ஷ மாலைகள் மார்பில்;

மரவுரி இடையில் முனிவனைப் போலவே,
விரைந்து சென்றான் அகத்திய முனிவரிடம்,

"என் இல்லம் வந்து அங்கு விருந்து அருந்தி
என் இல்லத்தைப் புனிதமாக்க வேண்டும்!"

ஆடாக மலைச்சாரலில் மேய்ந்திருந்த
ஆட்டுமுக வாதாபியை இழுத்து வந்தான்.

பலவித கறிகள் பக்குவம் ஆக்கினான்.
உளமார முனிவனுக்கு உணவாக அளித்தான்.

பொற்கலங்களில் பரிமாறினான் உணவை.
அற்புதமான இன்மொழிகள் புகன்றான்.

உணவு வகைகளைத் தூய்மைப்படுத்தி
உணவு அருந்தினார் அகத்திய முனிவர்.

வழக்கம் போல் வாதாபி வயிற்றினுள்
முழு வடிவம் பெற்று எழுந்து அமர்ந்தான்.

அவுணர்களின் சதியை அறிந்த முனிவர்
"அழிந்தொழிக வாதாபி!" எனச் சாபமிட,

கடல் குடித்த குறுமுனியின் சிறு வயிற்றில்
குடல் ஜீரணம் செய்து விட்டது வாதாபியை.

தம்பி ஜீரணம் ஆனதை அறிந்து கொண்டு
தன் சுய வடிவெடுத்தான் வில்வலன் அங்கு.

தடியால் அடித்துக் கொல்ல வந்தான் அவரை.
படைக்கலம் ஆக்கினார் ஒரு சிறு தர்ப்பையை!

சிவப் படைக் கலத்துக்குப் பலியாகினான் அவன்;
சவமாக விழுந்தான் அண்ணன் வில்வலன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
2 # 26. VILVALAN POSES AS A RUSHI.

Vilavalan and Vaathaapi knew about the sage Agasthya's visit. They decided to kill him and eat him as usual.

Vilvalan dressed up as a sage. He had jada in his matted hair, holy ash on his forehead, rudraaksham in his neck and maravuri in his waist.

He requested the sage to take food in his hut. The sage agreed. He then fetched his brother vaataapi who was grazing - transformed to a lamb.

Vilvalan cooked the lamb into many tasty dishes and offered them to the sage on a plate of gold with great affection. Vaataapi regained his form as well as life once he was inside the sage's stomach.

Agasthyar realized the trick played by the two brothers. He cursed that Vaathaapi should be destroyed in his stomach. Vaataapi got digested by the rushi's jataraagni.

Vilavalan took his real form and pounced on the rushi to beat him to death.

Agasthya chanted a mantra and transformed a kusa grass into the ashtram of Siva. Vilvlan fell dead by the asthra.
 
2 (# 27a). சிவ வழிபாடு.

வில்வலனை, வாதாபியைக் கொன்றதால்
தொல்லை தந்தது பிரம்ம ஹத்தி தோஷம்;

சிவ வழிபாடு நீக்கிவிடும் முற்றிலுமாக
தவத்தைப் போன்றே அத்தோஷங்களை!

லிங்கத்தை அமைத்து செய்த பூஜையால்
அங்கு அகன்றன அகத்தியர் குற்றங்கள்;

நாரதர் கண்டார் அகத்தியரின் செயலை,
விரைந்து சென்றார் அமரர் கோனிடம்.

மூங்கிலில் மறைந்து வாழ்ந்த இந்திரன்
முடி அவர் அடியில் படத் தொழுதான்.

மலர்கள் தந்த தன் நந்தவனம் காய்ந்து
நலம் குலைந்து நிற்பதைச் சொன்னான்.

"கொங்கு நாட்டில் உள்ள குறுமுனிவர்
திங்கள் அணி பிரானைத் தொழுகின்றார்;

பொங்கும் காவிரிநதி அடைபட்டுள்ளது
அங்கு அவர் கமண்டலத்தில் இந்திரா!

இங்கே காவிரிநதி வந்து பாய்ந்தால்
சிங்கார நந்தவனம் செழிக்கும் மீண்டும்."

"காவிரியை எங்ஙனம் பாய்ந்து வந்து
பூவிரி வனத்தை அடையச் செய்வது?"

"யானைமுகப் பெருமானைச் சரணடை!
ஏனத்து நதியைப் பாயச் செய்வார் அவர்.

காவிரி நதி பாய்ந்து பூவிரி வனம் வரும்.
ஆவியை அறுக்கும் கவலை ஒழிப்பாய்!"

2 (# 27a). THE SIVA PUJA.

Vilavalan and Vaataapi were the sons of Durvasa. Hence sage Agasthya was afflicted by the Brahma haththi dosham. He had to perform Siva puja to nullify his dosham.

He made a lingam and did puja regularly until all his sins were absolved. Narada was watching the puja performed by the sage. He rushed to meet Indra who was hiding inside a bamboo tree.

Indra prostrated to Narada. He told about his nandavanam which had dried up completely. Narada told him, "Agasthya carries the river Kaveri in his kamandalam. If it can be brought here you garden will become as a glorious as it was before."

"But how to make the river flow here?" was Indra's next question.

Narada told him, "Pray to Lord Ganesh. He is the remover of all obstacles. He will surely help you".
 
2 (# 27b ). இந்திரனும், விநாயகரும்.

யானைமுகனைத் தொழுதான் இந்திரன்
ஏனைய நினைவுகள் நீங்கிய மனத்துடன்;

யானைமுகன் காட்சி தந்தான் அங்கு;
வீணாகவில்லை இந்திரனின் வழிபாடு!

"உன் வழிபாடுகள் மிக மகிழ்ச்சி தந்தன.
உனக்கு வேண்டியதை நான் தருவேன்!"

"நிலவணி பிரானை நிலவுலகில் பூசிக்க
மலர்வனம் ஒன்று அமைத்து இருந்தேன்.

கொடிய அவுணர்கள் மழையைத் தடுத்து
மடியச் செய்து விட்டனர் பூங்கா வனத்தை.

நீர் பாய வேண்டும் மலர்கள் மலர்ந்திட!
நீரே அதற்கு உதவ வேண்டும் ஐயனே!"

"எந்நீர் வேண்டும் என உரைப்பாய்!
அந்நீர் தருவிப்பேன் நான் இக்கணமே!"

"நந்நீர் உள்ளது குறுமுனி கமண்டலத்தில்!
அந்நீர் கிடைத்தால் அகமகிழ்வேன் ஐயனே!"

"காவிரியைக் கவிழ்த்துப் பாயச் செய்வேன்!
பூவிரி சோலையை அடையச் செய்வேன்!"

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
2 (# 27b). Indra and Lord Ganesh.

Indra contemplated on Lord Ganesh. He appeared and spoke to Indra,

"I am happy with your worship. Tell me what is it that you want"

"I had planted a nandavanam to obtain fresh flowers to do Siva Puja. But the asuras have stopped the rain fall and the garden has withered.

Water must flow here to revive the garden so that I can go on with my puja. You must help me Lord!"

"Tell me which river you want to flow here. I shall fetch it immediately."

"Sage Agasthya has stored the river Kaveri in his kamandalam. It is the river Kaveri I want to flow here."

"I shall topple the kamandalam, make the rive Kaveri flow here and revive your flower garden to its original glory"

Lord Ganesh promised to Indra.
 
2 (# 27c). அகத்தியரும், விநாயகரும்.

பொங்கும் காவிரியை விடுவிக்க விரும்பி
கொங்குநாட்டை அடைந்தான் ஆனைமுகன்;

பொய்க் காக்கை வடிவெடுத்து அமர்ந்தான்
பொய்க்காத காவிரிநீர் கமண்டலத்தின் மேல்.

பொய்க் காக்கையை புரிந்து கொள்ளாது
மெய்க் காக்கை என எண்ணினார் முனிவர்;

காகத்தை விரட்டக் கையை ஓங்கவே
காகம் பறந்தது, கமண்டலம் கவிந்தது!

"நிலத்தில் பாய்ந்து செல்வாய் காவேரி!"
நினைத்த மாத்திரத்தில் நிலத்தில் பாய்ந்தது!

பறவை உருவத்தை மாற்றிக் கொண்டான்!
பார்ப்பனச் சிறுவன் வடிவம் பூண்டான்.

சிறுவனே கவிழ்த்தான் காவிரியை எனச்
சீறிச் சினந்தார் குறுமுனி அகத்தியர்.

விரைந்து சிறுவனை விரட்டிச் செல்ல
விரைந்தான் அஞ்சிய அச் சிறுவனும்!

"குட்டாமல் விடுவதில்லை இவனை இன்று!"
எட்டாமலும் எட்டியும் திரிந்தான் சிறுவன்.

மடக்கிய கையோடு துரத்திய முனிவர் பின்
உடல் சோர்ந்து தளர்ந்து நின்று விட்டார்.

2 (#27c). Agasthya and Vinayaka.

Lord Ganesh went to Kongu Naadu where sage Agasthya was staying. He took the form of a crow and sat on the kamandalam.

The sage did not recognize the Lord. He tied to scare the crow away. The crow flew away and the kamandalam toppled down.

"Flow on the earth!" the Lord commanded and Kaveri started rushing and gushing on the ground.

Now Lord Ganesh took the form of a brahmin boy and the sage thought, "This is the boy who toppled my kamandalam and Kaveri."

He started chasing the boy wishing to rap him hard on his head. The boy appeared to be very scared and kept running just beyond the reach of the rushi.

After some time the sage stopped running as he became too tired to chase the boy.
 
2 (# 27d). அகத்தியரும், ஆனைமுகனும்.

மெலிந்து நின்ற அகத்திய முனிவருக்கு
வலியத் தன்வடிவைக் காட்டினான் ஐங்கரன்.

"இச்சிறுவனைக் குட்டுவேன்!" என்று துரத்தியவர்
அச்சம் கொண்டார் ஆனைமுகனைக் கண்டதும்!

இரங்கினார், ஏங்கினார், மனம் கலங்கினார், தலையில்
இரண்டு கைகளாலும் இடிபோலக் குட்டிக் கொண்டார்.

"ஏன் இப்படிக் குட்டிக் கொள்ளுகிறீர்கள் அன்பரே?"
"என் பிழைகள் தீரவும், தீவினைகள் மாறவும் ஐயனே!

அறிவு அணுவளவும் இல்லாது அடியேன் உம்மைச்
சிறுவன் என ஓட ஓட விரட்டினேன் குட்டுவதற்கு."

"அன்பரே! அறியாது நீர் செய்த பிழை இது;
துன்பம் அகற்றுவீர்! மன இன்பம் உறுவீர்!"

ஆனை முகன் அடியில் விழுந்து வணங்கியவர்
தேனை அருந்தியவர் போல் உள்ளம் களித்தார்.

"இந்திரன் ஒளிந்து வாழ்கின்றான் சீகாழியில்.
நந்தவனம் அமைத்தான் ஈசனைப் பூசிக்க.

வாடிப் போயிற்று பூங்கா மழை நீரின்றி;
நாடினான் என் உதவியை நன்னீர் வேண்டி!

தேடிவந்து உம்மிடம் உள்ள காவேரி நதியை
ஓடிப்பாயச் செய்தேன் அவன் நந்தவனத்துக்கு.

எந்தையிடம் மிக்க அன்பு பூண்டவர் நீர்;
என்னிடத்தும் மிக்க அன்பு கொண்டவர் நீர்.

வேண்டும் வரம் கேளும் நான் தருவேன்
மீண்டும் நான் தருவேன் காவிரி நீரையும் !"

"குன்றாத பக்தியினை அளிப்பீர் எனக்கு - உம்
முன் நின்று குட்டிக் கொள்ளும் அன்பருக்கு

தண்ணருளும் தரவேண்டும் என் ஐயனே!
மண்ணில் நல்வாழ்வு நல்கிட வேண்டும்!"

அந்த வண்ணமே குறுமுனிக்கு அருள்செய்து,
நன்னீரால் நிரப்பினான் அவர் கமண்டலத்தை.

2 (# 27d). The sage and the Lord.

Lord Ganesh revealed himself to the sage. The sage was taken by surprise and felt very sorry for is misdeeds in chasing the Lord all over the land. He rapped his own head hard with both his fists.

The Lord asked him "Why do you punish yourself thus?"

"I was a fool not to recognize you Lord. I chased you and wanted to rap you hard on your head. Please pardon my sins!"

"These were done unintentionally. Do feel sorry for them."

The sage fell at the feet of Lord Ganesh and praised him. The Lord spoke again, "Indra is living in Seekazhi. He had planted a garden for fresh flowers for Lord Siva's worship.

The garden has withered due to the failure of rain fall. He sought my help and hence I released Kaveri from your kamandalam. You are dear to my father. You are dear to me too. I shall give you any boon you wish for. I shall also give you Kaveri water."

"I seek nothing but undiminished bhakti. You must bless those persons who rap their heads in front of you and grant them good fortune and happiness."

The Lord Ganesh agreed to this wish and refilled the kamandalam with the water of the river Kaveri.
 
2 (# 28 a). திருமுற்றம்.

செல்லும் வழியில் இருந்தது ஓர் ஊர்.
சொல்லும் பெயர் திருமுற்றம் என்பது.

வைணவப் பார்ப்பனர்கள் வாழும் இடம்;
வேத, வேதாந்தங்களைக் கற்றிருந்த போதும்

நல்லறிவு பெறவில்லை அவ்வைணவர்கள்;
பொல்லாத பழவினைகளின் ஊழ்வலியால்.

பகை வளர்த்தனர் சிவனடியார்கள் மீது!
நகைக்கும்படி இழந்தனர் நல்லொழுக்கம்.

திருமுற்றத்து வைணவர்களின் தீச்செயல்களை
குறுமுனிவர் நன்கு அறிந்துகொண்டு இருந்தார்.

தெருவில் நடந்து சென்றார் கோவிலுக்கு.
திருமாலைத் தொழுதார் மனக் களிப்புடன்;

தவளைகள் போலக் கூச்சல் இடலாயினர்
அளவற்ற சினம் கொண்ட வைணவர்கள்.

"ஐயம் ஏற்று உண்டு உயிர் வாழும்
கையனுக்கு அடிமை அல்லவோ நீயும்!

விரைந்து அப்பால் சென்று விடுவாய்!
மறந்தும் மீண்டும் வந்து விடாதே இங்கு!"

"நல்வழி என்று எண்ணி வந்து விட்டேன்;
அல்ல என்பதை அறிந்து கொண்டேன்!

இனம் தெரியாமல் வந்துவிட்ட என்னிடம்
சினம் கொள்ளவேண்டாம் செல்கிறேன் நான்!"

2 (# 28 a). Thirumutram.

Agasthya passed through a place called Thirumutram. It was occupied by Vaishnavites who had learned all the scriptures but had not developed the true gnaanam.They hated the Saivites with all their hearts.

Agasthya knew about these people. He walked to the temple and worshiped Vishnu. The Vaishnavites started scolding him like a bunch of croaking frogs.

"You are a devotee of Siva who lives on the alms he gets by begging. Do not come to our village. Now off you go!"

Agasthya said,"I did not know about this place and so I ventured to enter. Please pardon me! I am going away now."
 
2(#28b). பொய்க்கோலம் பூணுதல்.

"பாம்பணி நாதனைப் பழித்த இவ்வூர்
பாம்பணைத் துயிலும் மாலின் பக்தரின்

ஆணவ மலத்தை அடக்கிட வேண்டும்!
பேண வேண்டும் இங்கே மதநல்லுறவை!"

திருமால் அடியவரின் திருக்கோலத்துடன்
திரும்பவும் சென்றார் திருமுற்றத்துக்கு.

வைணவக் கோலம் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்து அவரை
வைணவர்கள் எதிர்கொண்டு வரவேற்றனர்.

"அழகர்மலையிலிருந்து செல்கிறேன் அத்திகிரி!
தொழவேண்டும் குடிகொண்டுள்ள பெருமானை!"

திருமால் வழிபாடு செய்யத் தேவைப்படுகின்ற
திரவியங்கள் அனைத்தும் கொண்டு தந்தனர்.

"இறைவனை வழிபடும் முறைகளை நீவீர்
குறைவின்றி கண்டு களிப்பீர்!" என்றார் அவர்.

திருமால் திருமுடியில் திருக்கரம் வைத்து,
பிறையணி நாதனை மனத்தில் இருத்தியபடி,

"குறுகு! குறுகு!" என்று அவர் கூறுகையில்
குறுகிய விக்ரஹம் மாறிவிட்டது லிங்கமாக!

பொய்க் கோலத்தைத் துறந்தார் குறுமுனி;
மெய்யன்புடன் வழிபட்டார் சிவலிங்கத்தை.

2 ( # 28b). The disguised sage.

"The devotees of Vishnu living here hate the devotees of Siva. This must be set right."

Agasthya decided to prove that all religions are one and the same and all gods are also one and the same.

He dressed up like a Vishnu bhakta and went to the temple again. This time he was given a very warm welcome by the group of Vaishnavites.

He told them, "I am going from Azhagarmalai to Hasthi giri. I wish to worship the lord of this temple"

The Vaishnavites brought all the articles needed for the puja. Agasthya told them," you may watch the puja!"

He then placed his hand on the vigraham of Vishnu. He contemplated on Siva and commanded the vigraham to change its shape. The Vishnu vigraham transformed itself into a Sivalingam!

He changed his disguise and became his original self. He worshiped Siva with great affection.
 
2 (# 28c). மால் சிவன் ஆனார்.

நீண்ட நெடிய திருமால் விக்ரகம்
யாண்டும் காண இயலாத மாயத்தால்

அனலிட்ட மெழுகாக உருகிக் குறுகி
அமைந்தது அழகிய சிவலிங்கமாக!

அதிசயச் செயலைக்கண்ட பின்னரும்,
விதி வசத்தால் மதி இழந்த வைணவர்கள்,

"சிவக் கோலத்துடன் வந்த தவ முனிவன்
இவனேதான் ஐயமில்லை! பிடியுங்கள்!

மாறுவேடம் பூண்டு வந்தது மட்டுமின்றித்
தாறுமாறு ஆக்கிவிட்டான் நம் மூர்த்தியை!"

அத்தனை பேரும் கூடி ஓடி வந்தனர்,
அத்தனின் பக்தனை நன்கு புடைப்பதற்கு.

எரி எழப் பார்த்தார் குறுமுனி அங்கு.
எரி துரத்தலாயிற்று நெருங்கியவர்களை!

சினத் தீயின் சுவாலையைத் தாங்காமல்
சிதறி ஓடிவிட்டனர் திசை தோறும் - அப்

பதி மாறிவிட்டது ஒரு சிவப்பதியாக!
பொதிய மலை சென்றார் தவமுனிவர்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
2 (# 28c). Vishnu gets transformed to Siva.

The tall vigraham of Vishnu melted like wax shown in a flame and changed its shape into a Sivalingam.

The onlookers were wonder struck by this rare sight. But the Vaishnavites got mad and shouted,

"It is the same fellow who had come earlier as a Siva bhakta. He has come again in disguise and ruined our Lord's vigraham! Catch hold of him!"

They came charging at the sage. He stared at them with anger in his eyes. The fire of his anger started chasing the people gathered to beat him.

They ran in every direction and disappeared. Then the place became a Siva sthalam. Agasthya now set out to Pothigai giri.
 
2 (# 29). சிவ வழிபாடு.

காகம் கவிழ்த்த கமண்டலத்தின் நீர்
காவிரி ஆறாகப் அங்கு பாயலுற்றது.

பெருகியும், பொங்கியும், சுழித்தும் ஓடி
அருமையான சீகாழியை அடைந்தது.

மழை நீருக்குத் தவித்த அந்த நந்தவனம்
தழைத்தது மீண்டும் காவிரி நதி நீரினால்.

வளர்ந்தன செழித்து பூச்செடிகொடிகள்;
அளித்தன பலவித நறுமண மலர்கள்.

அண்ணலின் அடிகளை அமரர்கோன்
எண்ணியும், புகழ்ந்தும் போற்றினான்.

நறுமலர்களைக் கொய்து நாடோறும்
முறைப்படித் தொழுதான் இறைவனை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
2 (# 29). The worship of Siva.

The kamandalam was toppled by the crow who was in reality Lord Ganesh himself.

The water contained in it started flowing as the river Kaveri. It soon reached Cheekaazhi.

Indra's garden which had withered due to the failing rains, was nourished by this river water. It flourished back to its original glory.

All the plants and creepers grew back and bore loads of fragrant flowers. Indra was very happy.

He gathered the fresh and fragrant flowers and performed Siva puja as before.
 
2 (# 30). தேவர்களும், இந்திரனும்.

சீகாழியில் தங்கி இருந்த தேவேந்திரனைச்
சீர் குலைந்த தேவர்கள் வந்து சந்தித்தனர்.

சூரபத்மனின் ஏவல்களைப் புரிந்து வந்ததால்
வீரப் பிரதாபம் குறைந்து மெலிந்திருந்தனர்.

"குற்றேவல் செய்து பெருமை குலைந்தோம்!
கற்றமறைகளை யாம் முற்றிலும் மறந்தோம்!

எம்மைக் கைவிட்டுவிட்டு நீர் மட்டும்
செம்மையாக வாழ்வது தகுமா? தருமமா?"

"செயற்கரிய வேள்வியினை சூரபத்மன்
செய்தபோதே நம் துன்பம் தொடங்கியது!

அடைக்க விழைகிறான் என்னைச் சிறையில்!
அடைய விழைகிறான் என் மனையாளை!

நம் துன்பம் ஒழிய ஒரே புகல் இனிமேல்
நாம் தொழும் தேவதேவன் மஹாதேவனே!

தரிசிப்போம் திருக்கயிலை சென்று பிரானை,
விவரிப்போம் நாம் படும் இன்னல்களை!"

"எங்கள் தாயும், மற்றும் தந்தையும் நீரே!
எங்கள் தெய்வமும், செல்வமும் நீரே!

தாங்கள் இருக்கையில் ஏது குறை எமக்கு?
திங்கள் பிரானைக் காணச் செல்வோம்!"

இந்திரன் சம்மதித்தான் கயிலை செல்ல.
இந்திராணியிடம் விடைபெறச் சென்றான்.

When Indra was residing in Seekaazhi, the devas came down to meet him. They were serving Soorapadman by performing various odd jobs. They had lost their self respect and honor and were feeling wretched.
They spoke to Indra," We forgot all our Vedas. We spend our time serving Soorapadman by doing odd jobs. You have forsaken us and you are living here in peace"

Indra replied,"When Soorapadman started performing his difficult yagna, our bad time had started along with it. He wanted to imprisons me and marry Indrani. So we had go into hiding. There is only one person who can save us now. Let us go to Siva in Kailash and tell him of our sufferings."

The devas spoke in unison. "You are our mother, you are our father, you are our god and you are everything we possess. Let us go and meet Siva"

Indra agreed to this plan. He went to take leave of his queen Indrani.
 
2 (# 31). இந்திராணி.

இந்திரனைக் கண்டதும் எழுந்து சென்று
இந்திராணி வணங்கி வரவேற்றாள்.

தேவர்கள் படும் அல்லல்களையும், தான்
தேவாதி தேவனைக் காணச் செல்வதையும்

தேவர்கோன் தெரிவித்தான் அயிராணிக்கு.
துவண்டு போய்விட்டாள் செய்தி கேட்டு.

"விண்ணுலகம் நீத்து இங்கு வந்தோம்.
மண்ணுலகில் மறைந்து உறைகின்றோம்;

இணையற்ற செல்வச்செழிப்பை இழந்தாலும்,
இணை பிரியாமல் வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றோம்.

என்னைப் பிரிந்து நீர் சென்று விட்டால்
என் கதி என்ன ஆகுமோ அறியேன்!

அவுணர்கள் இங்கும் தேடிவந்து பற்பல
அல்லல்கள் அளிக்கப் போவது உறுதி.

நல்வினை, தீவினை வேறுபாடு அறியாத
பொல்லாத அவுணர்கள் எதுவும் செய்வர்.

மகன் ஜயந்தனும் இங்கே உடன் இல்லை;
புகல் ஒன்றும் இல்லாமல் தனியே நான்!"

"பாதுகாப்பு இன்றி உன்னை விட்டுச்செல்லும்
பாவி ஆகிவிடவில்லை இன்னமும் நான்.

அரியும், அரனும் சேர்ந்து பெற்றெடுத்த
அரிய ஐய்யன் உனக்குத் துணை ஆவான்.

நினைத்த மாத்திரத்தில் நின் முன்தோன்றி
நின்னை காப்பான் இது என் உறுதிமொழி."

"அய்யனார் வரலாற்றை நான் அறியேன்!
ஐயங்கள் தீர அதை உரைப்பீரா ஸ்வாமி?"

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

 
2 (# 31). Indraani.

Indraani welcomed Indra and paid her respects to him. Indra told her the plight and sufferings of the devas and his decision to visit Kailash to meet lord Siva.

Indrani felt visibly shaken, "We left heaven and came to hide on earth. Even though we had given up the pleasures of heaven, we still had each other.

Now you want to go away leaving me alone. The asuras do not distinguish between the dharma and adharma.

They are capable of any sin. Even our on Jayanthan is not with us. Who will protect me?"

Indra replied, "I am not so cruel as to leave you unprotected. Iyyanaar will be your protector. He is the son of Hari and Haran. You meditate on him and he will rush to your side to help you.

"Will you please relate to me all about of Ayyanaar?" Indraani asked Indra.
 
2 (# 32 a). ஐயனார் வரலாறு.

தேவர்கள், அசுரர்கள் முன்னொரு நாள்
திருப் பாற்கடலைக் கடையலுற்றனர்.

நச்சரவு அணிந்த நாதனைத் தொழாமல்
இச்சை கொண்டு அமுதம் விழைந்தாலும்,

காலகூட விஷம் திரண்டு எழுந்ததும்
கால்களைப் பற்றினர் கயிலை நாதனின்!

நஞ்சை உண்டு கண்டத்தில் அடக்கி
நஞ்சுண்டான் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்,

"இன்னமும் கடையுங்கள் தொடர்ந்து!
பின்னர் தோன்றும் விரும்பிய அமுதம்!"

கடையத் தொடங்குகையில் மறந்துவிட்டனர்
தடைகளைத் தகர்க்கும் விநாயகனைத் தொழ!

மந்தர மத்து விழுந்தது பாதாளத்தில் - ஹரி
மந்தரமலையைத் தாங்கினான் கூர்மமாக.

பொற்குடம் கடலில் தோன்றி எழும்பியது.
அற்புத அமுதம் அதனுள் ஒளிர்ந்தது.

முயற்சியில் ஒன்றுபட்ட சுர, அசுரர்கள்
கிளர்ச்சியில் ஈடுபட்டனர் சுவைப்பதற்கு!

போர் துவங்கியது இருகுழுக்கள் இடையே.
போரைத் தவிர்க்க எண்ணினான் திருமால்.

அனைவரும் விரும்பும் ஒரு வடிவு எடுத்தார்!
அனைத்தையும் மறக்கச் செய்யும் மோகினி!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

2 (# 32a). Aiyyanaar.

Once the sura and asura churned the ocean of milk to bring out the Amrutham. They did not seek the blessings of Lord Siva.

Yet when the haalaahalam appeared, they ran to Siva the savior. He drank the deadly poison and arrested it in his throat. He blessed the sura and asura to continue to churn until the nectar appeared.

They resumed the churning but they forgot to worship Lord Ganesh - the remover of obstacles.

The Mandara mountsin used as a giant churn, sank to the patala. Vishnu appeared as a giant tortoise and supported the Mandara on his hard shell.

Then the nectar appeared in a gold pot. The suras and asuras wanted all the nectar only for themselves and started to fight.

Vishnu wanted to avoid the fight and the war. So he transformed himself into Mohini, a beautiful woman - whom no one can resist.
