tomorrow's (friday the 6th March) India/West Indies match is very important. Dhoni already cautioned to say if Gayle is in form India will be helpless - srinivasan

True! This was reiterated by Vivian Richards who has questioned our consistency!

[h=1]'India is inconsistent and will have trouble defending its title'[/h]West Indies great Vivian Richards has called Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side a "powerful force" but still feels that India will have trouble defending their World Cup title due to their "inconsistent" bowling.

"India is a powerful force at this point in time with three wins out of three matches. Its batting is always its strong point and it is looking good. Its bowling is looking good too, as good as anything we have seen so far from them on this long tour.

"But even then, it is not consistent enough and sooner or later, that factor will come to play. That is an open chance for any opposition team to pounce on," Viv was quoted as saying in his ICC column.

To get into Quarter finals Windies have to win this match...They have won the toss and decided to bat first..Would India have to face the Gayle tornado..Will our bowlers be able to show mettle? Let us wait and watch!!

Windies are in bad shape at 42 -4 in 11 overs..The thunder bolt is gone...Shami is doing a great job at 2-19..

It is getting a close match...India are 114-5 after 24.3 overs against the Windies total of 182...Match is turning out to be close and supporting the bowlers

Excellent pace attack by the Windies...One more wicket falls....Crisis of sorts with India needing 49 runs with only 4 wickets remaining

Why do all these Indian batsmen still can not execute pull shots. The shorts are still a problem for our Batsmen. 135-6. It is panic time.

Dhoni's six changes the momentum..Will the Indians pull off another victory..20 runs to win..If no more wickets are lost then that is for sure!

Dhoni hit the winning 4 that helped us win against a formidable pace attack by the Windies...Great going Indian team! Congratulations

That's India's eighth win in a row in World Cup matches. It equals their previous longest World Cup winning streak, achieved in 2003. In the end, bizarre tactics from Jason Holder. Plenty of overs left from his seamers, but he chose to bowl Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Smith with just 20-odd left to get. I don't know if that would have made any difference to the result, but it made things awfully simple for Dhoni and Ashwin. A few wobbles in India's chase, but Dhoni did what he does best, played the percentages, kept things simple, and carried India over the line.

Congratulations.

Mohammed Shami is the man of the match. Ian Bishop doesn't interview him, for some reason. Some of you are suggesting it's because of Shami's lack of English proficiency, but how difficult would it be for the Indian team to send someone along to interpret for him? Even generally, it's always rankled me that players aren't simply allowed to speak in the language they're most comfortable in, and take an interpreter along. We always miss out on interesting insights because of this insistence on doing everything in English.

Did you watch the Ireland-Zimbabwe match..It was having its twists and turn and turned out to be a thriller paisa vasool...Finally Ireland won by 5 runs..It was a treat the watch the impressive raise of Ireland...Great going Ireland! Winning 3 out of 4 matches is spectacular

In the other Pool B match today Pakis beat the Proteas comprehensively..The Pakis were superior in all the aspects of the game..This will act as a morale booster to the team..First time in a WC fixture they have won against South Africa

The tigers vanquished the once formidable lions....England are knocked out of the WC as they are defeated by Bangladesh in Pool A match...What a pathetic & ludicrous state of affairs that has come upon the once sprightly nation!

Ireland are on a good start against the Men in Blue! Mohit has dismissed the formidable Willaim Porterfield and the Irsih team are cruising at 146-3 at the end of 32 overs...Looks like it is not going to be cake walk for India

Another great win by India as we defeat Ireland by 8 wickets..Our top order batting was commendable (Shikhar Dhawan's brilliant century along with Rohit Sharma's well crafted half century)...Whom are we going to meet in Quarter finals---Bangladesh or Sri Lanka??

The prediction of the glamour boy of the 80's! Sounds optimistic and ebullient!

India will lift the WC trophy, says Ravi Shastri

Indian cricket team coach Duncan Fletcher and director Ravi Shastri.

Indian cricket team’s director Ravi Shastri, on Tuesday, said the defending champions were well on course to lift the World Cup trophy.
India thrashed Ireland by eight wickets to record their ninth consecutive win in the World Cup overall and fifth on the trot in the current edition to top pool B.
“It’s a good position to be in especially given that from now on, every game is a knockout. Once you start winning, you enjoy and feel relaxed, it’s when you lose that you want to stay locked in the dressing room. Right now, the team is enjoying, they are playing football, they are a happy unit,” Shastri said.
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar echoed Shastri’s views and credited the team’s bowlers for raising their game at the big platform.
“The bowlers deserve all the credit. 50 wickets in five matches, it is a wonderful achievement. Lot of times, the batsmen tend to overshadow them and they don’t get credit but it is nice to see the bowlers getting some credit,” he said.
Talking about India’s campaign, Shastri said the side, which came into the tournament after a disastrous bilateral series against Australia, was confident of clinching the top honours.
“We were never here to fill in the numbers. We are not going to give any chances to any of our opponents and we are going to lift the trophy,” he said.

Before start of the WC2015 tounament I was very skeptical of India even making it in to the QF as we had a very poor ODI and Test series in Aus but now seeing their clinical performance in each game I feel we are very much playing like Champions but from now on the contest is going to become tougher and we must not take anything for granted . All the best to Team India .

England - not only cricket

The tigers vanquished the once formidable lions....England are knocked out of the WC as they are defeated by Bangladesh in Pool A match...What a pathetic & ludicrous state of affairs that has come upon the once sprightly nation!

England spends huge amount of money promoting the premier league football, but they are thrown out of the last world cup in 1st round. England probably need to be taken over by Queen Elizabeth like our Narayanamurthy & Infosys to bring some pride back. It is encroached with immigrants from poorer and illiterate countries who comes mainly to enjoy the freebies and benefits that government provides. It is sad to see a nation that ruled half the world is slowly being moved out of their own country and losing their pride everywhere!!
