Angry with their team's defeat at the hands of arch-rival India in a cricket World Cup match, Pakistani fans today came out on the streets in Karachi and smashed their TV sets to express disappointment.

Cricket-crazy fans in Pakistan woke up early to watch the eagerly anticipated clash between the arch-rivals in Adelaide hoping that the Misbah-ul-Haq-led side will change history but were left fuming as their team suffered its sixth straight loss to India in ODI World Cups.

A Pakistani TV channel showed visuals of people taking to streets with TV sets and smashing them to pieces to show their anger at the Pakistan team's showing.

Giant screens had been put up at many public places as people gathered to watch the high-voltage clash but were left extremely disappointed with the outcome, Samaa TV reported.

It was the most eagerly awaited match of the World Cup and the venue -- Adelaide Oval -- was 'under virtual siege' as Indian fans took complete control of the city outnumbering their Pakistani counterparts.

Indians and Pakistanis also exchanged barbs on the social media.

What a surprise! Ireland stunning victory over West Indies! What happened to the 2 times world champion?

The hype created by press and other mediums for India -Pakistan Cricket matches is unnecessary and unwarranted.

Some people feel the Cricket series between India and Pakistan is like the Bodyline Series between Australia and England, which is not so, as there is no history of any rivalry in Cricket between the two countries.

Hence, this hype must be immediately stopped to avoid unpleasantness between the people of two countries.

There are more serious matters which require immediate attention than a cricket match between the two countries.

Can cricket unite the warring countries ever! Never!

Cricket World Cup: Indian fans fight with airline staff over delayed Air India flight to Australia

In the subcontinent, the World Cup clash was so highly anticipated that Taliban militants said they were planning to tune in.

"In the past, commanders used to watch the Pakistan-India match together and we used to slaughter sheep and socialise with each other, but now things are different and there will be no such meetings over cricket," one commander told AFP.

"However, we will listen to commentary on radio."

One man living in temporary accommodation in north-western Pakistan after fleeing tribal areas on the Afghanistan border told AFP he had used government aid money to replace his television set, which he had been forced to leave behind.

"We saved from our relief package money and bought a 17-inch television for the World Cup," he said.

One thing that I found common in the comments from everyone regarding Indias Chances is that no one feels that India will even qualify and will also loose the game against Pakistan . This is the first WC since 90s when we play without Sachin . This is the first time there is lot of negativity with regard to India's chances even to qualify in the WC2015 . Let us see how the team does and all the best to them . As of now I can only say that Australia and SA look very confident and well prepared .So these 2 teams will definitely qualify for the semis and the rest I have no idea .

fortunately I am in Australia watching and reading about all matches. no doubt MS Dhoni is a man on whom one can have faith because he is very cool and calm; never get excited like Virat. yet as on date I am of the opinion Australia, New Zealand and South Africa will make it. India may reach quarter-final. Pak, I think, has no chance. Australian Indian crowd move wherever India plays. coming Sunday India play South Africa in MCG which I may go and see. pray India makes it to WC - srinivasan

Australia kind of pitch is only good for Australia, New Zealand or may be South Africa... With India's win against Pakistan.. thinking about India's win is only high-hope.. I am one of those who believe match fixing will be there in all of south east asian country games...

England crumbles for 123 against a resurgent Kiwis today..Good show by New Zealand who are leading the Points table for Pool A...Who is leading Pool B?

We are leading..This is the surprise element so far...Will India be able to vanquish the Proteas this Sunday & continue the winning streak?

Pakistan today crumbled to a humiliating defeat against the Windies who bet them by 150 runs..Can you imagine a World cup dream team bring reduced to 1-4...

India crushes South Africa in Melbourne! Great going India!Congrats to opener Shikhar Dhawan who crafted a mighty 137 and Ajinkya Rahane a passionate 79 to fire India to a mammoth 307-7 score..In reply the Proteas collapsed at 177 with 10 overs to spare ..

This was India’s maiden World Cup win against South Africa after having lost the clashes in 1992, 1999 and 2011. Fantastic! This is the real spirit! Undaunted and perseverent display!

South African fielding was sloppy and 3 catches were dropped...We showed our might with the bat and ball!Congrats to Ashwin for 3-41! Team work was fabulous in the Indian side with sparkles of brilliance!

Prime Minister Modi congratulates the Indian team and hailed the spectacular victory!

"Great performance. Well played. Congrats Team India. You make us proud yet again," he tweeted. His tweet came as soon as India beat South Africa by 130 runs.

Congratulations.
That was a massive victory.
I had SA going into finals. Now India should make it to knockout stage.
Thanks Dhawan, Rahane, Kohli and the rest of India.

An excellent perfromance from India again in their match against SA and they won it very convincingly .I never expected India even to do well aginst PAK considering the fact that they did very poorly in the tri series and also in the test matchs in Australia .Glad to see them bouncing back to form and playing like true world champions . Anyway we must not get carried away but keep the winning momentum going on and not to take any side lighly as even Ireland deftead WI and SL had to struggle hard to score a win against Afhganistan . Congrats Team India for this 2 wonderful wins and all the best for the future matches .

well, it was very fortunate I am in Melbourne and attended India/South Africa match on sunday. I must say it was the Indian crowd pushed Dhawan and other Indian players to win the match. It looked as if MCG has been taken over Indian crowd. now only Melbourne Indian crowd attended but also from Sydney, Canbarra, Brisbane and Adelide. y see one enterprising Indian travel agent organised tour to take Indian crowd to the cities wherever India played/playing. This is within Australia but I havent checked about New Zealand sites. but believe me, the scene in Melbourne on Sunday was to be seen to be believed. really I enjoyed. in fact, we as a group of 30/35 people attended. If India maintains this trend and strength, I am sure they can make it to WC - srinivasan
