Our Constitution is silent on Political Parties. This used to surprise me, since our Parliamentary Democracy is based on Political Parties. Here's what Dr. B.R.Ambedkar told in his concluding remarks on the subject.

In his concluding remarks at the Constituent Assembly of India, Dr.Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the chief of drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution, stated on the newly formed Indian Constitution.
"The Constitution can provide only the organs of State such as the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary. The factors on which the working of those organs of the State depend are the people and the Political parties political they will set up as their instruments to carry out their wishes and their politics. It is, therefore, futile to pass any judgment upon the Constitution without reference to the part which the people and their parties are likely to play. Dr.B.R. Ambedkar, (Constituent Assembly Debates 25 November 1949) .
