DEVI BHAAGAVATAM - SKANDA 3

3#22b. The joy of victory

Devi’s lion roared loudly. All the elephants in the enemy’s side fell dead in fear. The lion breathed fiercely. A storm blew and threw out the enemy soldiers in all the eight directions. The kings who had laid the siege now stood shaking in fear.

Yudaajit got annoyed with the other kings. “Will you be afraid of a woman who appeared in the battle field? We will kill Sudarsanan and ravish the princess”

Devi got angry and took on many different forms now. She shot arrows like a rain cloud showering water droplets. She killed Yudaajit and Satrujit. She shattered and scattered the enemy’s army. The small army of Sudarsanan thus vanquished the combined army of all those kings.

Sudarsanan paid obeisance to the Devi who appeared at the right time and place to make him victorious. Devi wished to grant him boons. He praised Devi and got the boons he wished for.

​21a. புருசுண்டி

ஸஹஸ்ரபுர மன்னன் ஆவான் சூரசேனன்,
ஸகல நற்குணங்களும் பொருந்தியவன்.

சூரியனை நிகர்த்த விமானம் ஒன்று
பாரில் இறங்குவதைக் கண்ணுற்றான்.

தூதர்களை அனுப்பினான் அறிந்து வர;
தூதர்கள் காட்டினர் இறங்கிய இடத்தை!

தகதக வென்ற தங்கவிமானத்தில் வந்து,
தரையில் இறங்கியவன் தேவராஜன்.

வணங்கினான் இந்திரனை வலம் வந்து!
“வந்த பணி என்னவோ?” வினவினான்.

“பூவுலகின் விந்தைகளை எல்லாம்
தேவர்கள் அறிவது நாரதர் மூலமே.

மகான் ஒருவரைப் புகழ்ந்தார் நாரதர்.
மகத்துவம் ஆகும் அவர் வேழமுகம்.

விநாயகர் மேல் கொண்ட பக்தியால்
விநாயகர் போல் அடைந்தார் தோற்றம்!

புருசுண்டி என்னும் புண்ணிய புருஷனை
தரிசித்துத் திரும்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்.

பாவி ஒருவனின் பார்வை பட்டதும்
பாதை மாறி விமானம் இறங்கியது!

விமானத்தை விண்ணில் எழுப்புவதற்கு
விநாயகர் விரதம் செய்பவர் தேவை.

சங்கட சதுர்த்தி விரதம் செய்பவரே
சங்கடத்தைப் போக்கிவிட முடியும்!”

சூரசேன மன்னன் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தான்,
தேவராஜனைக் கேட்டான்,” அவர் யார்?

விநாயகர் அருள் கிட்டியது எங்ஙனம்?
விநாயகர் தோற்றம் கிட்டியது எங்ஙனம்?”

VINAAYAKA PURAANAM (1)

21a. Brusundi

Soorasenan was the good king of Sahasrapuram. He was endowed with all the noble qualities. One day he saw a vimaanam glittering like the sun landing on the ground, deviating from its aerial path in the sky. He sent his messenger to find out everything about the vimaanam.

The messengers located the vimaanam and took their king to it. It was Indra himself who was traveling in it. Soorasenan circumnavigated the vimaanam, paid his respects to Indra and asked the purpose of his visit to the earth.

Indra replied, “We Deva learn about all the wonderful things happening on the earth through Narada. One day Narada praised a mahaan. His greatness was that his face resembled the face of Vinayaka. I visited him and was going back to swargga.

One sinner eyed my vimaanam and it landed abruptly. Now to make it rise again I need the help of a person who performs Sankata Chathurthi vratham . Can you please help me to find a Person in your country who observes Sankata Hara Chathurti vratham?”

Soorasenan was astonished by what he had heard and asked Indra,” Who is that mahaan? How did he get the grace of Vinaayaka and his appearance besides?”
 
உற்பத்தி காண்டம்

20d. தாரகன் முடிவு.

மாய விளையாட்டுக்களைக் கண்ட முருகன்;
“தீயவனைத் தப்ப விடக்கூடாது!” என்றான்.

சக்தி வேலிடம் ஆணை இட்டான் முருகன்,
“புத்தி கெட்ட தாரகன் கதையை முடித்து விடு!

தந்திரம் செய்யும் கிரௌஞ்சதைப் பிளந்து
அங்கு மயங்கிய தம்பிகளை மீட்டு வா!”

வேலைப் பிடிக்க முயன்றான் தாரகன்;
வேல் பாய்ந்தது தாரகன் மார்பினில்;

கிரௌஞ்ச கிரியையும் பிளந்தது வேல்,
பிரபஞ்சம் நடுங்கும் பேரோசையுடன்!

துயிலும் வீரர்களை துயில் எழுப்பியது!
தூய கங்கையில் நீராடி மீண்டு வந்தது!

முருகன் வெற்றியை அறிந்த தேவர்கள்,
பெருமகிழ்வுடன் ஆனந்தக் கூத்தாடினர்.

மயக்கம் நீங்கி எழுந்து வந்தவர்கள்,
மாயோன் மருகனை வணங்கி நின்றனர்.

சிவப் படைக் கலத்தை வீரவாகுவுக்கு
சிவக்குமரன் அளித்தான் அன்புடன்.

இறந்த கணங்களை உயிர்ப்பித்து எழுப்பி
தெற்கே செல்லலானான் படைகளுடன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
KANDAPURAANAM - URPTHTHI KAANDAM

1 (# 20 D). THE FALL OF THAARAKAN.

Murugan saw all the tricks played by the mountain and Taarakan. He said to himself “It is time to an end to the asuran”

He ordered to his spear,”Finish off the foolish Thaarakan and his tricky mountain. Awaken all my brother and commanders who lie asleep inside the mountain!”

The spear charged forward towards Thaarakan. He tried to catch hold of it. But it pierced his chest and he fell down howling in pain and died.

The spear broke through the mountain with a deafening noise. It woke up all the nine brothers and the one hundred and eight commanders lying asleep there.

It went to the river Ganges and took a holy dip. It cam back to Murugan’s hands.
The nine brothers and the commanders prostrated to Murugan. The Devas celebrated the fall of Thaaragan and victory of Murugan.

Murugan brought back to life all the ganas killed in the war. He was all set to travel southwards.

3# 23. சுபாஹு கேட்ட வரம்

“மண்ணுலக போகங்கள் நிலையற்றவை.
விண்ணுலக வாழ்வும் நிலையற்றதே!

நீங்காத இன்பம் உன் தரிசனம் ஒன்றே!
நீங்காத அனுபவம் உன் தரிசனம் ஒன்றே;

தேங்காது வளரும் பக்தியைத் தருவாய்!
தங்குவாய் என் அரண்மனையில் என்றும்.

சத்ரு பயம் இல்லாமல் வாழவேண்டும் மக்கள்
நித்தியக் காவல் தெய்வமாக அமர்வாய் தாயே!”

“முக்தி தரும் காசியில் உறைவேன் நான்;
நித்தியக் காவல் தெய்வமாக என்றென்றும்!”

தேவி வரம் தந்தாள் காசி மன்னனுக்கு;
தேவி வரம் தந்தாள் சுதர்சனனுக்கும்.

“அரசாள்வாய் அயோத்திக்குச் சென்று!
அரசாள்வாய் ராஜநீதியில் வழுவாமல்!

நித்தியம் என்னை மறவாது துதித்தால்
சத்தியமாக உனக்கு நன்மை செய்வேன்.

கிருஷ்ண பக்ஷ அஷ்டமி, நவமி, சதுர்த்தியில்
கிராமமாகச் செய்து வருவாய் பலிதானம்.

சரத் ருதுவில் வரும் நவராத்திரியில் மற்றும்
சித்ரம்,ஆஷாடம், ஆச்விஜம் மாதங்களில்

முறைப்படி பூஜை செய்து வருமாறு – எடுத்து
உரைப்பாய் உன் நாடு, நகரங்களில்!” என்றாள்.

பிழைத்திருந்த எதிரி மன்னர் புடை சூழ்ந்தனர்’
“பிழை செய்துவிட்டோம் உன்னை பகைத்து!

புருஷார்த்தங்களைத் தரும் தேவியைக் கண்முன்
பிரத்தியக்ஷமாகத் தோன்றச் செய்துவிட்டாய் நீ!

சக்தியின் மகிமையைக் கூறவேண்டும்!” எனச்
சக்தியின் மகிமையைக் கேட்டு மகிழ்ந்தனர்.

3#23. Boon sought by Subaahu

Subaahu praised Devi thus: “The pleasures of the life on earth are ephemeral. The life in heaven is temporary. The only everlasting experience and happiness in one’s life is getting your divine darshan oh Devi!.

Please grant me bhakti which does not diminish with time. Please reside in my palace in my city of Kaasi forever. My citizens must live without any fear of the enemies. Please become the protecting deity of Kaasi”

” I shall reside in Kaasi – the city which assures mukti – as the protecting deity forever.” Devi assured Subaahu. Devi granted boons to Subaahu and Sudarsanan.

She told Sudarsanan,”Go to Ayodhya and rule your kingdom wisely and justly. If you remember me and do aaraadhana everyday, I will be always there to help you in any difficulty or danger.

Perform Bali daanam on the Ashtami, Navami and Chathurdasi in Krishna paksha without fail. Tell you countrymen to celebrate the Navaraatri in Sarat ruthu and do aaraadhana in the months of Chaitram, Aashaadam, Aasvijam in the prescribed manner.”

The kings who had not got killed came and surrounded Sudarsanan now. “We have committed a grave mistake in fighting with you Sudarsanan. You have made Devi – the giver of chatur vidha purushaartham namely Dharma, Artha, Kaama and Moksham appear in front of our eyes. Please expatiate to us on the greatness of Shakti Devi”

They listened to the greatness of Shahti Devi with deep interest.

21b. விப்பிரதன்

நந்துரம் என்ற அழகிய பட்டணம்
அந்த தண்டகாரண்யத்தில் இருந்தது.

வேடர்கள் குடியிருந்தனர் அதனருகே;
வேடன் விப்பிரதன் அவர்களில் ஒருவன்.

கொடுமையே உருவானவன் விப்பிரதன்;
கடுமையே வடிவெடுத்தவன் விப்பிரதன்;

வழிப்பறி செய்து, உடமைகளைப் பறித்து,
வாழ்க்கை நடத்தி வந்தான் அவ்வேடன்!

அந்தணன் ஒருவனை நெருங்கினான்,
அந்தணன் அஞ்சி ஓடத் துவங்கினான்.

காடு மேடு பாராது ஓடிச் சென்றவனை
வேடனால் பிடிக்கவே முடியவில்லை.

ஓடிக் களைத்து இளைத்துப் போனான்!
ஒன்றும் கிடைக்கவில்லை அன்றைக்கு!

தடாகம் ஒன்று தென்பட்டது வழியில்;
தடாக நீரை அள்ளி அள்ளிப் பருகினான்.

தண்ணீரை அருந்திய பின்னர் கரையில்
கண்ணயர்ந்தான் ஒரு பெரிய மரநிழலில்.

வித்தக விநாயகன் ஆலயம் அருகே!
முத்கல முனிவர் வந்தார் அவ்வழியே.

“அந்தணன் தப்பி விட்டான் ஆயினும்
இந்த மனிதனைத் தப்ப விடமாட்டேன்!”

ஓங்கிய வாளுடன் நெருங்கினான் அவரை
ஓங்கிய கரம் தானாகத் தாழ்ந்ததெப்படி?

முனிவரின் கனிவான பார்வையால் ஒரு
மனிதனாக மாறிவிட்டான் விப்பிரதன்!

தீய குணங்கள் மாயமாக மறைந்தன;
நேய குணங்கள் நொடியில் வளர்ந்தன.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
 
VINAAYAKA PURAANAM (1)

21b. Viprathan

Nanduram was a city in the outskirts of DandakaaraNyam. Some hunters were living near it. Viprathan was one of them. He was the personification of cruelty. He was harsh and merciless. He waylaid the travelers and looted their belongings. He had made this his way of living.

One day he saw an Brahmin and closed in on him with a drawn sword. But the Brahmin took to heels and ran for his life like one possessed. Viprathan was unable to catch up with him. He felt very dejected since he had got nothing on that day.

He was hungry and thirsty. He drank the cool and refreshing water from a pond and stretched himself in the shade of a big tree on the bank of the pond. There was Vinayaka temple nearby.

Mudgala rushi came that way. Viprathan eyed him and told himself, “The Brahmin managed to escape by running faster than me. I shall never allow this man to escape”

He approached the rushi with his sword raised. But his hand lowered by itself when the sage cast a merciful glance on the sinner. He was instantaneously reformed to a good man and all his bad qualities disappeared in a flash of a second.
 
உற்பத்தி காண்டம்

21. தேவகிரி.

முருகனுடன் நான்முகன், தேவேந்திரன்,
திருமால்,தேவர்கள் சென்றனர் தெற்கே.

ஆதவன் மறையும் நேரத்தில் சென்று
அடைந்தனர் தேவகிரியை அவர்கள்;

“தாரகனை அழித்து தேவர்கள் துயரம்
வேரறுத்த உன்னை வழிபட வேண்டும்.

எழுந்தருள்வாய் தேவகிரியின் மீது!
விழுந்து வணங்கும் பேறு தருவாய்!”

தேவத்தச்சனுக்கு ஆணை இட்டனர்,
“தேவர்கள் தங்க நகர் அமைப்பாய்!”

அழகிய நகரம் எழுந்தது அங்கே!
அழகன் முருகனுக்குப் பொற்கோவில்.

மணிகள் இழைத்த அரியணை ஒன்றும்
கணப் பொழுதில் அங்கே தயார் ஆகின.

முருகனும் தேவர்களும் புகுந்தனர்- மனம்
விரும்பும்படி அமைந்த கோவிலினுள்.

தனி வலிவுடைய குமரனை நீராட்ட
புனித கங்கை நீர் வர வேண்டுமே!

மனத்தால் நினைத்ததும் கங்கைநீர்
கணத்தில் தோன்றியது அங்கே!

அணிகலன்கள், ஆடைகள், மலர்கள்,
மணிமாலைகள், வாசனை திரவியங்கள்!

குறைவற நடந்தது புனித நீராட்டு – மன
நிறைவுற்று மகிழ்ந்தனர் குழுமி இருந்தோர்.

URPATHTHI KAANDAM

1 (# 21) . DEVA GIRI

Murugan was accompanied by Brahma, Vishnu, Indran and the other Devas. They went south and reached Deva Giri at sunset.

The Devas spoke to Murugan, “You have rid us of the asura Thaarakan. We want to worship you. Please allow us to worship you, here in this Deva Giri!”

The divine carpenter was ordered to create city for the Devas and temple for Murugan. A beautiful city arose in no time.

There a temple was made of Gold for Murugan. A throne studded with precious gems was set in the temple for Murugan.

They all entered the temple. Murugan was made to sit on the throne. They needed water from Ganges for the abhishekham. Even as they thought of Ganges, her water appeared there.

Ornaments, silks, flowers, garlands and incenses appeared there. Murugan was worshipped duly and everyone felt happy to be the present there.

3# 24. சுதர்சனனின் ஆட்சி

அயோத்தியை அடைந்தான் சுதர்சனன்
ஆதரித்து வரவேற்றனர் நகரத்து மக்கள்.

கண்டான் அந்தப்புரம் சென்று சிற்றன்னையை;
எண்ணி வணங்கினான் தன் தாயைப் போலவே.

“துர்க்கை கொன்றாள் உன் தந்தையை, மகனை!
துக்கம் வேண்டாம் மாண்டவர்களை எண்ணி!

புத்திரன் ஆவேன் இனி உனக்கும் நானே!
புத்தியில் சற்றும் பேதம் இல்லை தாயே!

துக்கப் படவில்லை காட்டில் அலைந்த போதும்;
தாக்கம் ஏற்படவில்லை கடின வனவாசத்தால்;

ஆனந்தப் படவில்லை அயோத்தி அடைந்ததால் ;
அனுபவிக்க வேண்டும் நம் வினைப் பயன்களை!”

வெட்கம் அடைந்தாள் லீலாவதி – தன்னுடைய
துக்கத்தை மறந்து ஆசீர்வதித்தாள் சுதர்சனனை.

சிறந்த சிற்பிகள் வந்து குழுமினர் காசியில்.
குறித்தனர் ஒரு சுப முஹூர்த்த வேளை.

கட்டினான் ஒரு மணிமண்டபம் தேவிக்கு;
கட்டித் தங்கத்தில் நவரத்தின சிம்மாசனம்!

பிரதிஷ்டை செய்தான் இஷ்ட தேவதையை;
பிரஜைகளையும் பூஜை செய்ய வைத்தான் !

ராம ராஜ்ஜியம் போலவே ஆட்சி செய்தான்;
காம வயப்படவில்லை அந்நாட்டு மக்கள்.

வளர்ந்தன வர்ணாசிரம தர்மங்கள்;
வளர்ந்தது அறம், தளர்ந்தது மறம்;

எல்லோரும் இன்புற்று வாழ்ந்தனர்,
எல்லா நலன்களையும் இனிதே பெற்று!

3#24. Sudarsanan – the king Sudarsanan returned to Ayodhya. The citizens of the city welcomed him heartily. He went to greet his stepmother Leelaavati. He paid obeisance to her – as if she were his very own mother. He told her thus:

” Oh mother! Durga Devi killed your father and son in the battle. Please do not lament thinking about them. I will be your son henceforth.

I consider you as my own mother! I was not sorrowful when forced to live in a forest. I am not elated to have got back my kingdom. Each of us have to accept the fruits of our past karma.”

Leelaavati felt ashamed by the magnanimity of Sudarsanan and blessed him sincerely.

The best sculptors of that time were invited to Kaasi. An auspicious muhoortam was fixed. A gem studded mandapam was constructed for Devi.

Her throne was made of solid gold and studded with nava ratnas. Pratishta of Devi was done as per the prescribed rules. Sudarsanan worshiped Devi and made sure that all his citizens did likewise.

Sudarsanan ruled his kingdom as well as Sree Rama had done. The people were not deluded or infatuated with worldly things. The varnaasramam was well established.

Dharma grew well while Adharma dwindled and died. Everybody lived a contented and happy life under his just rule.
 
VINAAYAKA PURAANAM (1)

21c. விப்ரதன்

கண்களில் வழிந்த கண்ணீரால் முனிவரின்
கால்களைக் கழுவினான் வேடன் விப்ரதன்.

“அறிவில்லாத வேடன் நான் ஒரு மூடன்!
பிறவியிலேயே கொண்டேன் துர்குணம்.

புனிதனாக்கி மனிதன் ஆக்கி விட்டீர்கள்.
இனிப்பிறவா பேரின்பம் பெற வேண்டும்;

கனிவுடன் காட்டுவீர் அதற்கான உபாயம்!”
பணிவுடன் வணங்கி வேண்டினான் வேடன்.

“தடாக நீரில் இறங்கி நீராடி வருவாய்;
இடைவிடாது இம்மந்திரத்தை ஓதுவாய்.”

உபதேசித்தார் விநாயகர் திருமந்திரத்தை.
உடன் அளித்தார் காய்ந்த மரக் கிளையை.

“கம்பை நட்டு அது துளிர்க்கும் வரையில்
கம்பருகே அமர்ந்து ஜபித்து வருவாய்!”

கம்பை நட்டான்; நம்பி நீர் வார்த்தான்;
அன்புடன் ஓதினான் கணேசமந்திரத்தை.

ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் உருண்டு ஓடின.
ஆயினும் கம்பு துளிர்க்கவே இல்லை!

உறுதியில் குறையவில்லை விப்ரதன்;
அருகினில் அமர்ந்து ஜபித்து வந்தான்.

ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் முடிந்து பின்னர்
மாயக் கொம்பு துளிர்த்தது ஒருநாள்!

முத்கல முனிவரும் எழுந்தருளினார்;
அற்புதம் நிகழ்த்தினார் வந்த இடத்தில்!

கமண்டல நீரைத் தெளித்த உடனே – முக
மண்டலத்தில் தோன்றியது தும்பிக்கை!

நம்பிக்கை இழக்காத வேடனுக்கு ஒரு
தும்பிக்கை பரிசானது புருவமத்தியில்.

விப்ரதன் என்ற பெயர் இனி இல்லை!
அற்புத தும்பிக்கையால் இனி ப்ருசுண்டி!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

21c. Brusundi

Viprathan bathed the feet of the sage Mudgala with his copious tears. “I am a foolish hunter. I am a cruel man by birth. You have made me into a kindhearted man today. I do not want to take any more births. Please teach me how to achieve it!”

Mudgala told him to take bath in the pond. He taught the hunter the holy mantra of Vinayaka. He gave Viprathan a withered stick. “Plant this and water. Sit near it and chant the mantra I taught you everyday, till it grows fresh leaves.”

Viprathan planted the stick. He watered it. He sat near it and kept on reciting the mantra taught to him by the sage.

One thousand years rolled by but the stick did not grow fresh leaves. Viprathan trusted the words of the sage. He sat near the stick and kept on chanting the mantra with unshaken faith.

One fine day tiny leaves appeared on the stick. At the same time the sage Mudgala also appeared there. The hunter paid his obeisance to the sage. Mudgala sprinkled some water on Viprathan from his kamandalam and a miracle took place.

A trunk similar to that of Vinayaka appeared on the face of Viprathan in between his eyebrows. He would be known by his new name Brusundi henceforth.

22a. தாரகன் மனைவியர்

ஆறுமுகனின் வேற்படை குன்றைப் பிளந்து
ஆனைமுக அசுரனைக் கொன்ற செய்தியை,

தாரகன் மனைவி செளரி அறிந்தனள்;
தாளாத் துயருடன் களம் சென்றனள்.

“ஆழிப் படையை அளித்த திருமால்
ஊழ்வினை ஒழிந்தது என மகிழ்வாரோ?

சிவன் அளித்த மேன்மைகள் எல்லாம்
அவன் மகனால் பொய்யாகிவிட்டனவே!

அரியணையில் அமர்ந்து அவுணர்கள் சூழ
அரிய ஆட்சி நீயும் புரிந்து வந்தாயே!

தருவது போலத் தந்த மேன்மைகளை
சிறுவனை விட்டு அழித்த சூழ்ச்சி என்ன?”

அசுரபுரி சென்றிருந்த தாரகனின் மகன்
அசுரேந்திரன் திரும்பினான் மாயாபுரி;

தந்தைக்கு ஈமச் சடங்குகள் செய்துவிட்டு
சந்தனக் கட்டைகளில் எரி ஊட்டினான்.

தடுத்தும் கேளாமல் தாரகன் மனைவியர்
விடுத்தனர் உயிரை உடன் கட்டை ஏறி.

KANDA PURAANAM - URPATHTHIK KAANDAM

1 (# 22 A). ASURENDRAN

The news of the death of Taarakan at the hands of Murugan reached his wife Souri Devi. She was overcome with deep sorrow. She went to the battle field and lamented over her husband’s dead body.

“Vishnu who had surrendered his Sudharshan to you would be rejoicing now. Siva gave you many boons but they have been shattered by his own son! You used to sit on the throne surrounded by the asuras. Siva cheated you by giving the boons and taking them away through his own son.”

At the time of the war, Asurendran – Thaarakan’s son – was visiting Asurapuri of Simha mukhan. He learned the demise of his father and returned to Maayaapuri in a great haste.

He performed the last rites of his father and cremated him on a pile of sandal wood. The queens of Taarakan could not be deterred from performing sati. By sitting on the pyre with their dead husband, they all willingly gave up their lives!

“நவராத்திரியில் செய்யும் தேவி பூஜையால்
நன்மைகள் என்ன விளையும் வியாசரே?”

“சரத் காலம், வசந்த காலம் இரண்டும்
பரப்பும் பற்பல நோய்களை உலகினில்.

கேடு விளைவிக்கும் மனித குலத்துக்கு;
தடுக்கும் தெய்வ அருள் கிடைக்காமல்.

தடுக்க முடியும் இந்தத் தீமைகளை நாம்
தவறாமல் தேவியைப் பூசிப்பதன் மூலம்.

அந்தணருக்கு வழங்க வேண்டும் தானம்.
அமாவாசையில் வேதிகை அமைத்து,

ஸ்தாபிக்க வேண்டும் தேவியின் வடிவத்தை;
ஸ்தாபிக்க வேண்டும் கலசத்தை விதிப்படி.

மலர்களால் தூப தீபத்தோடு பூசிக்க வேண்டும்;
மா, பலா, வாழைக் கனி நிவேதிக்க வேண்டும்.

கும்ப பூஜை முதல் ஹோம பூஜை வரைக்
குறையில்லாமல் செய்து முடித்த பின்னர்

பூஜிக்க வேண்டும் கன்னிப் பெண்களை;
பூஜிக்கத் தகுந்தவர்கள் இவர்கள் ஆவர்.

வயது இருக்கவேண்டும் 2 முதல் 10 வரை/
வயது 2 நிரம்பிய கன்னி ஆவாள் குமாரி.

வயது 3 நிரம்பிய கன்னி திருமூர்த்தி;
வயது 4 நிரம்பிய கன்னி கல்யாணி,

வயது 5 நிரம்பிய பெண் ரோஹிணி;
வயது 6 நிரம்பிய பெண் காளி,

வயது 7 நிரம்பிய பெண் சண்டிகா;
வயது 8 நிரம்பிய பெண் சாம்பவி

வயது 9 நிரம்பிய பெண் துர்கா;
வயது 10 நிரம்பிய பெண் சுபத்திரா.

3#25a. Navaraatri pooja

“Please tell me the benefits of performing the Navaraatri pooja o sage vyaasaa?”
“Sarath ruthu and Vasantha ruthu spread many diseases and block us from getting the grace of Devi. We can easily get rid of this problem by doing aaraadhaana of Devi during that period.

A raised platform must be ready on the New Moon day. Devi’s moorti and kalasam must be established on it as per the rules. Flowers, doopam and deepm must be used for the pooja. Mango, jack fruit and Bananas must be offered to the Devi.

After the kumba pooja and the Homa pooja have been completed, daanam must be given to the Brahmins and very young girls must be honored. The age of these kanya must be between 2 and 10.

A girls aged 2 years is called as Kumaari. One aged 3 years is Trimoorti, one aged 4 years is KalyaaNi, one aged 5 years is RohiNi, one aged 6 years is KaaLi, one aged 7 years is Chandikaa, one aged 8 years is Saambhavi, one aged 9 yeas is Durga and one aged 10 years is Subadra.

 21d. புருசுண்டி

உலர்ந்த கம்பு துளிர்த்தது; அது விந்தை!
உதித்த துதிக்கை விந்தையிலும் விந்தை!

புருவ மத்தியில் தோன்றிய தும்பிக்கையால்
உருவம் மாறிவிட்டது விக்கின ராஜர் போல்!

விப்ரதனைக் கட்டித் தழுவினார் முனிவர்,
“இப்பிறவியின் பயனை அடைந்துவிட்டாய்.

கற்ப காலம் வாழ்வாய் இந்த உருவோடு!
கற்பக விருக்ஷம் ஆகிவிடும் இந்தக் கம்பு;

எண்திசையும் பரவிடும் உந்தன் புகழ்;
எண்ணியதைத் தந்திடும் இந்த விருக்ஷம்.”

ஏகாக்ஷரத்தை உபதேசித்தார் முனிவர்,
ஏகாக்ஷரத்தை ஜபித்தான் புருசுண்டி;

ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் உருண்டோடின.
அன்புடன் ஐங்கரன் காட்சி தந்தருளினான்!

துதிமாலைகளைச் சார்த்தினான் புருசுண்டி.
எதுவும் வரங்கள் தர வேண்டாம் என்றான்.

“பிறவாப் பேரின்பம் எய்தும் வழிகள் ஆம்
சரியை, கிரியை, யோகம் மற்றும் ஞானம்.

வேதம் சொன்னதைக் கைக் கொள்வாய்!
பேதம் என்றி என்னுடன் வந்து கலப்பாய்!”

ஐயன் ஆணைகளைப் பணிய புருசுண்டி
மெய்யன்புடன் நல்ல முயற்சி செய்தான்.

நாரதர் சென்றார் யமலோகம் காண்பதற்கு;
நாரதர் கண்டார் நரகத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியில்

கும்பி பாகத்தில் கிடந்தது உழலுகின்ற
தும்பிக்கை முனியின் முன்னோர்களை!

புண்ணிய சீலர் புருசுண்டியின் முன்னோர்
பண்ணிய தீவினைகள் தீர்ந்திடவேண்டும்.

“கும்பீபாகத்தில் துன்புறும் முன்னோரை
உம்மால் கடைதேற்ற முடியாதா” என்றார்.

சதுர்த்தி விரதத்தை அனுஷ்டித்த புருசுண்டி
முதியோரை விடுவித்தான் நரகத்திலின்று.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
VINAAYAKA PURAANAM (1)

21d. Brusundi

It was a miracle that the withered stick grew fresh leaves. It was greater miracle that Viprathan grew a trunk similar to that of Vinayaka. He resembled Vigneshwar very closely now.

Mudgala rushi embraced him and said, “You have achieved the aim of your janma. May you live for a very long time in this swaroopam. This stick will grow into a Karpaga Vruksham and will give whatever one wishes for. Your fame will spread in all the eight directions far and wide”

Mudgala taught him Ekaaksharam. Brusundi meditated on Vinayaka chanting the Ekaaksharam. One thousand years rolled on and finally Vinayaka appeared in front of him.

Brusundi praised the Lord as best as he could. He did not seek any boons except that he wanted to escape being born again in this world.

Vinayaka told him, “The means of escaping being born again are sariyai, kiriyai, yogam and gnaanam. Follow the words of the Vedas and you will merge with me inseparably at the end of this birth” Brusundi did his best to follow the path of Veda.

One day Narada went to visit Yamalokam. He was surprised to find the ancestors of Brusundi in the Kumbeebaagam of the Hell suffering a lot. He decided that they must be delivered from the sufferings of the Hell.

Narada told Brusundi that he could deliver his ancestors from the Hell by observing the Chathurti vratham. Brusundi did as advised and the suffering souls of his ancestors escaped from Hell and went to heaven.
