A DAM OF SAND!

Bharadwaajar and Raibhyar were good friends.But their sons were very different from one another. Raibhyar’s two sons Paraavasu and Arvaavasu were well versed vidhvaans in Vedas.
Yavagreevan, the son of Bharadwaja was jealous of their accomplishment but wanted to get the knowledge of Vedas without studying under a guru.

He did a severe penance and roasted his body in the burning flames, hoping that Indra would take pity on Him and bless him with the knowledge of the Vedas.

One day he saw a very old man throwing handfuls of sand in the river Ganga. When questioned the old man said that he was building a dam across Ganga with the sand.

Yavagreevan asked whether it was humanly possible to do so.The old man replied that if it were possible for person to learn Vedas without the guidance of a Guru, this was also a possible feat.

The old man was none other than Indra in disguise. He blessed Yavagreevan and advised him to approach a Guru to learn Vedas.

# 1 இந்திரன் பழி தீர்ந்தது.

# 1 (d). பொற்றாமரைக் குளம்.

தீர்த்தக் கரையில் தானே முளைத்து எழுந்த
மூர்த்தி சிவலிங்கத்தைக் கண்டான் இந்திரன்;

காணாத புதையலைக் கண்ணுற்றவன் யாரும்
பேணாத மூர்த்தியைப் பேணலுற்றான் அவன்.

கண்கள் பனிக்க, நாத்தழுதழுக்க, தன் மனப்
புண்கள் மறையப் பெரும் மகிழ்ச்சியுற்றான்.

தேவர் உலக மலர்களால் அர்ச்சித்து அந்த
தேவர் பிரானை வழிபட விழைந்தான்.

தேவர் உலகின் திவ்விய மலர்களைத்
தேவன் பூஜைக்குக் கொணரப் பணித்தான்.

தேவத் தச்சன் விஸ்வகர்மாவை வருமாறு
தேவர்கோன் இந்திரன் உடனே பணித்தான்.

“மண்ணில் எவரும் கண்டறியாத அரிய
திண்ணிய விமானத்தை உருவாக்குவாய் நீ!

அன்பருக்கு அன்பன் ஆகிய நம் ஐயனுக்கு
அன்புடன் அளிக்க விழைகின்றேன் நான்!”

தாமரைக் குளத்தில் சென்று தேடினால்,
தாமரை மலர் ஒன்று கூட இல்லையே!

ஏங்கிய இந்திரனின் வாடிவிட்ட மனப்
பாங்கினை உணர்ந்தான் மாதொரு பாகன்.

நொடியில் தோன்றின அத்தாமரைக் குளத்தில்,
வடிவமைந்த வாடாத பொற்றாமரைகள் பல!

உள்ளக் களிப்புடன் நீராடி எழுந்தவன்,
அள்ளிக் கொண்டான் பறித்த மலர்களை.

எட்டு யானைகள், முப்பத்திரு சிங்கங்கள்;
எட்டெட்டு சிவகணங்கள் தாங்கும் அழகிய

மாணிக்க விமானத்தை அர்ப்பணித்தான்
மாணிக்கவாசகர் வணங்கிய இறைவனுக்கு.

பொற்றாமரைக் குளத்தில் தானே பறித்த
பொற்றாமரை மலர்களால் அர்ச்சித்தான்;

“அத்தா! உன்னை தினம் தவறாமல் வந்து
பித்தா! பிறைச் சூடி என வாழ்த்த அருள்வாய்!”

“சித்திரையின் முழு நிலவில் செய்யும் பூஜை
ஒத்திருக்கும் நித்தம் செய்திடும் பூசையினை!.

தப்பாமல் வந்து நீ இங்கு எனைத் தொழுவாய்.
இப்போதே பெறுவாய் இழந்தவை எல்லாம்!”

ஐயன் அருள் இருந்தால் நிகழ்ந்திடும்,
செய்யற்கரிய பல வினோதஅற்புதங்கள்.

மின்னொளிர் மேனியும் பொலிவும் பெற்று,
விண்ணுலகேகினான் விண்ணவர் கோமான்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

1.(d). THE POND OF GOLDEN LOTUS.

Indra saw a holy theertham in Kadambavanam.He saw a swayambu Lingam on the bank of the theertham.He felt happy that his long search for mercy of Siva had not been in vain.He had at last found the rare moorthi, which he had been looking for!

He shed copious tears of joy. All his sense of shame and pain left him instantly. He wanted to do puja to the Sivalingam with the divine flowers brought from heaven.

He sent some of his attendants to bring the flowers from Swargam and also command the Deva carpenter Viswakarma to come down to earth immediately. Indra ordered Viswakarma to make the most unique vimaanam for the temple of the Sivalingam.

He wanted to do puja with the lotus flowers of the pond and was disappointed not to find even a single flower in the pond. Lord Siva took pity on Indra and made the most exquisite golden lotuses bloom in the pond. They were fragrant and would never wither away!

Indra took his holy dip in the pond. He gathered the golden lotus flowers and did Siva puja. The vimaanam made for the temple had eight elephants, thirty two lions and sixty four Sivaganaas supporting the vimaanam carved out of Carbuncle.

Lord Siva was immensely pleased by Indra’s bhakti. Indra wanted to come there everyday to do similar puja. But Lord told him that the puja done on the full moon day of the Chaitra month was equal to the puja performed everyday for one whole year.

He blessed Indra to regain everything he had lost due to the brahmahathi dosham.

Indra was restored his original glory and went back to swargam happily.

When God is on our side, who can be against us?

2. தேவி பாகவத மகாத்மியம்




சக்தி

உலகம், உயிர்கள், இறைவன் இவற்றில்
ஊடுருவியுள்ள ஆற்றல் தான் பராசக்தி.

எல்லாம் செய்ய வல்லவள் பராசக்தி.
எங்கும் நிறைந்திருப்பவள் பராசக்தி.

முத் தொழிலுக்கும் தேவதை பராசக்தி
அத்தனைக்கும் மூல காரணம் பராசக்தி.

பெண் வடிவில் இருந்து உலகினைப்
பேணுவதும் பராசக்தியின் அம்சமே.

பெண் இல்லையென்றால் இல்லை பிறவி.
பெண் இல்லை என்றால் இல்லை குடும்பம்.

பெண் இல்லை என்றால் இல்லை ஒரு நாடு.
பெண் இல்லை என்றால் இல்லை உலகம்

பெண்மையின் ஆற்றலே சக்தி
ஆண்மையின் ஆற்றலும் சக்தியே.

2. Shakti Mahaatmyam

The energy pervading in all the living things - movable and immovable is Shakti.

Shakti can do anything and everything.

Shakti prevails in everything and everywhere.

Shakti is responsible for the Generation, Ordinance and Destruction of jeevaas.

Shakti is the root cause behind srushti or creation.

Shakti assumes the form of a woman and protects the universe.

But for a woman there will be no birth.

But for a woman there will be no family..

But for a woman there will be no country

But for a woman there will be no world.

Shakti is the energy of women folks.

Shakti is the energy of men folks too.

நாராயணன் அருள் பெற்ற பாண்டவர்கள்,
நாராயணாசிரம வனத்தில் இருந்தபோது,

வந்தது காற்றில் பறந்தபடியே, திவ்விய
கந்தம் கமழும், தெய்வீக மலர் ஒன்று!

மலரின் மணத்திலும், வடிவத்திலும்
மனத்தைப் பறிகொடுத்த பாஞ்சாலி,

மலரும், செடியும் வேண்டும் என்றே
மனம் கவர்ந்த பீமனை வேண்டினாள்.

மணத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து சென்ற பீமன்,
வனக் குரங்கு ஒன்றைக் கண்டான்,

நெருப்பென ஜொலித்து, சோலையில்
வரும் வழியை அடைத்துக் கொண்டு.

நீங்கி வழி விடவேண்டும், என பீமன்
ஓங்கிக் குரல் எழுப்பிய போதிலும்,

நீங்காமலேயே கிடந்த அவ்வானரம்
தூங்குவது போன்றே தோன்றியது.

மீண்டும் குரல் எழுப்பிய பீமனிடம்
“ஆண்டுகள் ஆயிரம் கடந்தவன் நான்;

ஆயாசம் தீரப் படுத்துள்ளேன்! நீயும்
ஓயாமல் சப்தம் செய்யாதே” என்றது.

“வழியையும் மறைத்துக்கொண்டு நீ
வம்புகளும் என்னிடம் செய்கின்றாயா?”

” எழ சக்தி இல்லை! வேண்டுமென்றால்,
என்னைத் தாண்டிச் செல்லுவாய் நீ”

“பிராணிகளைத் தாண்டக் கூடாது! என்
பிராணன் போனாலும், அதைச் செய்யேன்.

உன் வாலை நகர்த்தி வழி செய்து கொண்டு,
என் வழியே நான் போகின்றேன்; ஏன் வம்பு?”

எத்தனை முயன்ற போதும், அதன் வாலை
எள்ளளவும் நகர்த்த முடியவில்லையே!

என்ன மாயம் இது? என்ன மந்திரம் இது?
என்ன ஆயிற்று, என் பலம் எல்லாம்?

“நீர் வெறும் குரங்கு அல்ல! சொல்லும்
நீர் யார் என்னும் உண்மையை எனக்கு”.

“நான் உன் அண்ணன், வாயு குமாரா!
நான்தான் அண்ணன் ஹனுமான்”

ஆலிங்கனம் செய்த சகோதரர்களின்
அழகே அழகு! கண்டால் கண் படும்!

அருமைத் தம்பி பீமனுக்கு, சில அரிய
வரங்கள் அளித்தான், அண்ணன் ஹனுமான்.

“சிம்ம நாதம் நீ செய்யும் போதெல்லாம்,
சேர்ந்து ஒலிக்கும் அங்கே என் குரலும்!

பார்த்தன் தேர்க் கொடியினிலே நான்
பறந்த வண்ணம் வெற்றியை அளிப்பேன்.”

சௌகந்திச் செடியையும், மலரையும் பெற்று,
சௌகரியமாகத் திரும்பிச் சென்றான் பீமன்.

வாழ்க வளமுடன்,

THE TWO BROTHERS

When the Paandavaas and Paanjaali were in the Naaraayana ashramam, an unusual flower with an exotic fragrance came to Paanjaali, carried by the wind. She was fascinated by the shape and smell of the rare flower and bade Bheeman to bring her the plant and its flower.

He followed the scent of the flower and reached a field of banana trees. A large glowing monkey was lying there stretched out and blocking the way completely.

When Bheeman told it to move out of his way, it replied saying that it was thousands of years old and could not move any limb of its body.

Bheeman tried to pull aside its tail and move on. But however hard he tried, he could not budge the tail of the monkey even by one inch.

The monkey then revealed is true identity as Hanuman the Vaayu puthran to Bheeman the other Vaayu puthran!

They both embraced. Hanuman gave Bheeman blessings and a promise that whenever Bheeman made a sound in the warfield, Hanuman’s voice will add on to it.

Hamuman will be on the flag on Arjuna’s chariot and protect him.Beeman got the Sowgandhi flower and plant and went back to Paanjaali.

# 2. வெள்ளை யானை சாபம் தீர்ந்தது.

2 (a). முனிவரின் சாபம்.

பொங்கும் புண்ணிய நதியாம் அழகிய
கங்கைக் கரையில் தானே அமைத்த,
லிங்க பூஜையைத் துர்வாச முனிவர்
தங்கு தடையின்றிச் செய்து வந்தார்.

மனம் மகிழ்ந்த மாதொரு பாகனும்
மணம் வீசும் பொற்றாமரை மலரினை,
முடியிலிருந்து கீழே விழச் செய்தார்
அடியவனுக்குத் தன் அருட்பிரசாதமாக.

கண்களில் ஒற்றி அகமிக மகிழ்ந்து,
விண்ணுலகேகிய முனிவர் கண்டார்;
வெற்றி வாகை சூடித் திரும்புகின்ற
வெற்றித் திருமகன் விண்ணவர் கோனை.

பொங்கும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் அவனுக்குத்
தங்களால் இயன்ற காணிக்கைகளை
அங்குள்ள அனைவரும் அளிப்பதை
இங்கிருந்து சென்ற முனிவர் கண்டார்.

தன்னிடம் இருந்த பொற்றாமரையைத்
தன் பரிசாக அவர் அளித்திடும்போது;
வெற்றியின் மதத்தினால் அறிவழிந்தவன்
பெற்றுக் கொண்டான் ஒற்றைக் கையால

ஒற்றவும் இல்லை கண்களில் மலரை,
வெற்றுப் பொருள் போலக் கருதி யானை
மத்தகத்தின் மீது பொற்றாமரை மலரை
வைத்து விட்டான் விண்ணவர் வேந்தன்!

பித்துப் பிடித்துவிட்டது போல் ஐராவதம்
மத்தக மலரைக் கீழே தரையில் தள்ளி;
மிதித்துக் காலால் கசக்கி மலரைத்
துதிக்கையால் தூக்கி எறிந்து விட்டது!

கனிந்தது கோபம் ஒரே வினாடியில்;
முனிவரின் சாபம் வெளிப்பட்டது.
“ஐயனின் அருட்பிரசாதத்தை ஒரு
கையால் பெற்று அவமதித்தாய் மலரை!

பாண்டிய வீரன் கைத் திகிரியில்
பந்தாடப்படும் உன் தலை ஒருநாள்!
தெய்வத் தன்மை அழிந்து ஒழிந்து,
தெய்வயானை மாறும் காட்டானையாக!”

பதறி விழுந்தனர் முனிவர் கால்களில்,
கதறிவேண்டினர் சாப விமோசனம்,
சுற்றி நின்ற மற்றவர் எல்லோரும்
கொற்றவனுக்காக மிகவும் இறைஞ்சினர்!

“இந்திரன் செய்தது தவறே ஆயினும்
இந்திரன் சாபத்தை நானே மாற்றுவேன்;
தலைக்கு வந்த அந்த ஆபத்து அவன்
தலை முடியோடு நீங்கிப்போய் விடும்!

யானையின் சாபத்தை மாற்றி அமைத்திட
யாராலுமே முடியாது என்றறிவீர்!
நூறு ஆண்டுகள் மண்ணில் வாழ்ந்தபின்
மாறும் யானையின் சாபமும் வடிவும்”

விளையாட்டு வினையாகி விட்டது கண்டீர்!
விளையாடும் இடம் தெரியாமல் ஆடினதால்!
இறையிடத்தும், குருவிடத்தும் வேண்டும்
குறைவில்லாத ஒரு பக்தி என்றென்றும்!

2 (A). SAAPAM ON AIRAVATHAM.

Durvaasa has done prathishtaa of a Sivalingam on the bank of river Ganga. He did pooja to this Lingam with utmost bakti, everyday without fail. Lord Siva was pleased with the rushi’s devotion and let a golden lotus fall from his head-as a divine prasaadam to the rushi.

The rushi was overwhelmed to receive Lord’s prasaadam. He went to the Heaven and saw Indra returning victoriously after a battle with the Asuras. Everyone who had gathered there to welcome Indra was giving his some gift of love and appreciation. The rushi wanted to present the golden lotus to Indra, as a mark of his appreciation and respect.

Indra was steeped to his eyebrows in pride and received the flower carelessly with one hand. He then placed it on the head of Airaavatham. The elephant was also intoxicated with the victory in the war. It grabbed the golden lotus, threw it down and trampled on it. It then tossed away the flower with his trunk.

Rushi became insane with anger! He cursed both Indra and Airaavatham severely.
“Indra! you are intoxicated by your victory. You did not receive god’s prasaadam with the honor it deserves. You will lose your head to the discus thrown at you by a Pandiya King. Airaavatham will lose its divinity and be reduced to a black wild elephant!”

Everyone fell at his feet begging for pardon. The rushi was moved to pity. He reduced the severity of his curse and said, “Indra! The discus aimed at you by the Pandiya King will destroy your crown and not your head!

But I can’t reduce the severity of the curse on Airaavatham. He will live as a black wild elephant for a hundred years. He will regain his divinity, original color and glory after the saapa vimochanam.”

We must never show disrespect to God and Guru-unless we are willing to suffer the unpleasant consequences of our thoughtless actions!

சக்திசக்தி சக்தீ சக்தீ சக்தி சக்தி என்றோது,
சக்திசக்தி சக்தீ என்பார் – சாகார் என்றே நின்றோது.

சக்திசக்தி என்றே வாழ்தல் – சால்பாம் நம்மைச் சார்ந்தீரே!
சக்திசக்தி என்றீ ராகில் – சாகா உண்மை சேர்ந்தீரே!

சக்திசக்தி என்றால் சக்தி – தானே சேரும் கண்டீரே!
சக்திசக்தி என்றால் வெற்றி – தானே நேரும் கண்டீரே!

சக்திசக்தி என்றே செய்தால் – தானே செய்கை நேராகும்,
சக்திசக்தி என்றால் அஃது -தானே முத்தி வேராகும்.

சக்திசக்தி சக்தீ சக்தீ என்றே ஆடோமோ?
சக்திசக்தி சக்தீ யென்றே – தாளங்கொட்டிப் பாடோமோ?

சக்திசக்தி என்றால் துன்பம் – தானே தீரும் கண்டீரே!
சக்திசக்தி என்றால் இன்பம் – தானே சேரும் கண்டீரே!

சக்திசக்தி என்றால் செல்வம் – தானே ஊறும் கண்டீரோ?
சக்திசக்தி என்றால் கல்வி – தானே தேறும் கண்டீரோ?

விதி என்று ஒன்று இருந்தால்,
விதி விலக்கு ஒன்றும் உண்டு.
விதியை மாற்றி விலக்கிவிட
விமலனால் மட்டுமே முடியும்!

இரட்டை யமன்களைப் போல
இந்த உலகைத் துன்புறுத்தினர்
இரண்யாக்கன், இரண்யன் என்ற
இரு கொடிய அசுர சகோதரர்கள்.

வராக மூர்த்தியால் கொல்லப்பட்ட
வலிய சகோதரனின் சாவைக் கண்டு,
மரணமே இல்லா வாழ்வு வேண்டிச்
சிறந்த தவம் செய்தான் இரண்யகசிபு.

கரையான் புற்று மூடிய போதும்,
கலையாத சிறந்த தவம் ஒன்று.
விரும்பிக் கேட்டதோ மிகவும்
வினோதமான வரம் ஒன்று.

இரவிலோ அன்றிப் பகலிலோ,
தரையிலோ, ஆகாயத்திலோ,
வீட்டிலோ அன்றி வெளியிலோ,
விலங்கினாலோ, மனிதனாலோ,

உயிருள்ள ஆயுதத்தினாலேயோ,
உயிரற்ற ஆயுதத்தினாலேயோ,
மரணம் தனக்கு நிகழக்கூடாதென,
பரமனிடம் பெற்றான் அரிய வரம்.

மரணமில்லாப் பெருவாழ்வை நம்பி,
இறைவன் நானே என்று அறைகூவி,
பரமனின் பக்தர்கள் எல்லோரையும்
விரோதிகளாகவே எண்ணலானான்.

நேரம் கனிந்ததும், இரண்யகசிபுவை
வேறு உலகுக்கு அனுப்பவேண்டியே,
கூறிய விதிகள் அனைத்தையும் தன்
சீரிய அறிவினால் உடைத்தான், ஹரி!

இரவோ பகலோ அல்லாத சந்திவேளை ,
தரையோ ஆகாயமோ அல்லாத படிக்கட்டு ,
வீடோ வெளியோ அல்லாத வீட்டு வாசல்,
விலங்கோ மனிதனோ அல்லாத உருவம்,

வலிக்காததால் உயிரற்றதும்,
வளர்வதால் உயிருள்ளதுமானக்
கூறிய நகங்களையே அவன் தன்
சீரிய ஆயுதங்களாகக் கொண்டான்.

எத்தனை வரங்களைப் பெற்றாலும்,
பித்தனைப் போல நடந்துகொண்டால்,
நித்தம் நித்தம் பயந்து அஞ்சி, நாம்
அத்தனிடம் தோற்றே ஆகவேண்டும்.

AN EXCEPTION TO EVERY RULE!

Every rule has an exception-but there is no exception to this rule! Only the exception proves the rule. Who is better qualified to find all the loop holes than the law-maker?

HiranyAkshan and Hiranyan became mad with power and ego and started harassing all the three worlds. Lord NArAyanA took the form of VarAha Moorthy and killed HiranyAkshan.

Hiranyan became both terrified and angry and decided to get the boon of immortality from Brahma.

He did a severe tapas and got completely covered by ant hills! In due course, Brahma appeared before him and the boon Hiranyan asked was very unusual.

He demanded that he should not be killed at night or during the day; neither inside the house nor outside it; neither on the earth nor in the sky, neither by a man nor by an animal; and with a weapon which was neither alive nor dead!

He had sought immortality for all practical purposes! His atrocities increased day by day while his son PrahlAd’s Vishnu bakthi also increased day by day.

Finally Lord VishnU decided that the time was ripe to kill Hiranyan-who had become like a mad elephant let loose on a rampage. He chose to become a lion-man who could crack open the elephant’s head with a single mighty blow!

He managed to bend every condition and kill Hiranyan.

He chose sandhyA kAlam-which was neither day nor night.

He sat on the door step-which was neither inside the house nor outside. The raised steps were neither earth nor sky!

The narahari was neither a man nor an animal. He used only his nails which are not alive since they do not cause pain when trimmed and which are not dead since they keep growing!

A person may scheme, plot and plan to perfection but God who is more perfect than him, can make it null and void!

அரியயானை ஆயிற்று ஒரு கரியயானை!
மற்ற யானைகளைப் போலவே இதுவும்
சுற்றித் திரிந்தது அடர்ந்த காடுகளிலே.

நூறு ஆண்டுகள் கழிந்து சாபம்
மாறும் நேரம் வந்து விட்டது!
விதிவசத்தால் அன்று இழந்த
மதியைப் பெறும் நேரம் வந்தது.

கடம்பவனத்தில் நுழைந்தது யானை;
உடம்பில் ஏற்பட்டது ஒரு சிலிர்ப்பு!
பொற்றாமரைக் குளத்தைக் கண்டதும்
மற்றதன் அறிவுக்கண்ணும் திறந்தது!

குளத்தில் முங்கி எழுந்தவுடனேயே
ஜொலிக்கும் மேனி திரும்பிவிட்டது!
பழைய நிறமும், பழைய வடிவும்,
பழைய பலமும், பொலிவும் பெற்றது!

துதிக்கையில் முகர்ந்து எடுத்துச் சென்ற
தூய நீரால் சிவனை அபிஷேகம் செய்தது!
பொற்றாமரை மலர்களையும் பறித்து
சாற்றித் தொழுது பூஜையும் செய்தது.

“வேண்டிய வரம் தருவேன்!” என்று
ஆண்டவன் அருள் கூர்ந்த போது அது,
“தானும் தாங்க வேண்டும் ஈசனுடைய
தன்னிகரில்லாத விமானத்தை” என்றது!

“இந்திரன் ஏறும் யானை ஆயிற்றே நீ ?
இந்திரன் என்னுடைய பக்தன் ஆவான்!
அவனை நீ முன்போலத் தாங்குவதையே
அனுதினமும் யாம் விழைகின்றோம் !”

மேற்கு திசையில் அமைத்தது யானை
ஏற்றம் மிகுந்த மற்றொரு தீர்த்தம்!
ஐராவத தீர்த்தம் என்று புகழ் பெற்றது
ஐராவதத்தால் அமைக்கப்பட்ட தீர்த்தம்.

ஐராவதேஸ்வரர் என்ற லிங்கத்தையும்,
ஐராவத கணேசரையும் அழகு மிளிர;
ஐராவதத் தீர்த்தத்தின் கரையிலேயே
ஐராவத யானை அமைத்துவிட்டது!

இந்திரனின் தூதுவர்கள் வந்து வந்து,
இந்திரலோகம் வருமாறு அழைத்தும்;
தந்திரம் செய்தபடித் தங்கி விட்டது,
இந்த மண்ணுலகிலேயே ஐராவதம்!

கிழக்குப்புறத்திலும் அமைத்தது பிறகு
அழகிய இந்திரேஸ்வரரை, ஐராவதம்.
இந்திரன் மீண்டும் அழைப்பு விடவே
இந்திரலோகம் சென்றது தயங்கியபடி.

மண்ணுலகில் நிலவும் பக்தி பாவனை
விண்ணுலகில் இருப்பதில்லை போலும்!
சாபம் பெற்று வருவதும் மண்ணுலகுக்கு!
சாபம் தீர்ந்தும் விரும்புவது மண்ணுலகே!

2 (b). Saapa Vimochanam!

Airaavatham lost its divinity, its white color, its two extra tusks and became a regular bull elephant. It forgot its past glory and roamed in the jungle just like any ordinary elephant!

A hundred years rolled by! The auspicious time of the saapa vimochanan was fast approaching. It was time for regaining its divinity and past glory. It entered Kadambavanam on that day. It felt a thrill run along its body-as if a mild electric shock was given. The moment it cast its eyes on the pond of Golden Lotuses, it remembered it glorious past.

It took a holy dip in the pond. It got back it color, form and glory. It carried water in its trunk and performed abhishekam to the Sivalingam. It plucked some lotus flowers from the pond and did archanai to the Lingam. The Lord was pleased with Airaavatham and wanted to bestow a boon on it.

Airaavatham wanted to become one of the elephants supporting the Lord’s Vimaanam.
But God told it that since it was the Indra’s elephant it should serve him as before.

Airaavatham made a new theertham on the western side of the temple. It established Airaavatheswarar and Airaavatha Ganesar on the banks of the Airaavatha Theertham.
Indra learnt about the saapa vimochanam and sent messengers ordering Airaavatham to return to him. But it did not want to return to the Heaven and stayed back on earth.

Airaavatham established another Lingam, Indireswarar on the eastern side. Indra was sending repeated messengers. Finally Airaavatham went back to Indra halfheartedly.
Isn’t strange that people who get cursed come down to live on the earth till the time of saapa vimochanam.

Isn’t stranger that after sapa vimochanam they want to continue to live on earth-where real bakti and spiritual saadana is possible rather than return to a life on non-stop-indulgence, arrogance and ego! .

இன்பமயமே!



பானை ஒன்று வேண்டும் நமக்குப்
பரமாத்மாவைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள.

பானைக்கும், அந்தப் பரமனுக்கும்
பாரில் என்ன தொடர்பு கூறும்?

மண்ணை நீரில் குழைப்பதனால்;
மண்ணும், நீரும் மிகவும் தேவை.

காற்றில் உலரவைப்போம்; எனவே
காற்றும் மிகவும் அவசியமானதே.

காய்ந்தால் மட்டும் போதாது;
வெந்தால்தான் உறுதி பெறும்.

எரியும் நெருப்பில் இட்டு, அதைக்
கரியாமல் சுட வைப்போம் நாம்.

பானைக்குள் ஆகாசம் உள்ளதைப்
பாமரனும் கூட அறிந்திடுவான்.

ஐம்பூதங்களின் உதவி இன்றியே,
அமையாது ஓர் அழகிய பானை!

ஐம்பூதங்களின் உதவி இன்றியே,
அமையாது உலக ஸ்ருஷ்டியுமே.

மாறுபாடுகளும் உள்ளன என்பதை
மறுப்பதற்கில்லை எனக் காண்போம்.

பானை செய்யும் களிமண் வேறு;
பானை செய்யும் குயவன் வேறு;

பானை என்பது முற்றிலும் வேறாம்.
பானை, குயவனோ, மண்ணோ அல்ல.

பானைக்கும், பரமாத்மாவுக்கும்
ஆன பேதங்கள் இவைகளே ஆம்.

அவனே இங்கு களிமண் ஆவான்,
அவனே இங்கு குயவன் ஆவான்.

அவனே இங்கு பானையும் ஆவான்.
அவனே மூன்று பொருளுமாவான்.

செயல், செய்பவன், செய்யப்படும்
பொருள் அனைத்தும் இங்கு, அவனே.

மனத்தில் இதை நினைவுகொண்டால்,
அனைத்துலகமும் இனி இன்பமயமே!

வாழ்க வளமுடன்,

A GATAM AND THE GOD!

We need a gatam, to understand God! What is the connection between a Gatam and God? We will find it out! To make a pot we need clay (Pruthivi) and water(appu).

After shaping the clay paste into a gatam, we set it out to dry in the air (Vayu). Later it is cooked on fire (Agni) to make it stronger and water-proof. Always there is aakaasam inside and outside the gatam.

Similarly God needs these five elements or pancha bootham for creation of the Universe.There are also certain differences despite the similarities!

The clay is different, the pot maker is different and the pot is different. But in the creation of the Universe, God himself is the material (clay), maker of the pot and the pot(creation).

Everything we see, smell, hear, touch and taste are expressions of God himself!

3. ஆலவாய் கண்டது.

3. (a). “திருநகர் சமைப்பாய்!”

பாண்டிய மன்னன் குலசேகரன்
ஆண்டு வந்தான் நீதி வழுவாமல்;
மணவூர் என்னும் அழகிய தலைநகர்,
மணமிகு கடம்பவனத்துக்குக் கிழக்கே!

மணவூரில் ஓர் அரிய சிவபக்தன்,
வணிகன் தனஞ்சயன் என்பவன்;
தாண்டவம் ஆடும் ஆண்டவனிடம்
பூண்டிருந்தான் தாளாததொரு பக்தி.

வணிகம் கருதி மேற்கே சென்றவன்,
வணிகம் முடித்துத் திரும்பி இரவுப்
பொழுதைக் கழிக்க எண்ணியபடியே,
நுழைந்தான் அழகிய கடம்பவனத்தில்!

யானைகள் தாங்கும் அழகியதொரு
யாரும் காணாத அற்புத விமானத்தைக்
கண்டவன் சென்றான் அதன் அருகினில்,
கண்டான் அதிலொரு அதிசய லிங்கத்தை!

தேவர்களுக்கு உகந்த சோமவாரம் அன்று!
தேவர்கள் வந்தனர் தேவதேவனைப் பூஜிக்க;
அருகில் நின்று பூஜைக்கு உதவி செய்யும்,
அருமையான பாக்கியம் அன்று வணிகனுக்கு!

நான்கு ஜாம பூஜைகளையும் அவன்
நன்கு கண்டு மெய்ப்புளகமடைந்தான்!
பிரியா விடை பெற்றான் மறுநாள்,
அரிதாகிய சிவலிங்கேஸ்வரரிடம்!

அரசனைக் கண்டு விண்டான் இந்த
அரிய செய்தியினை வணிகன் அன்றே!
அற்புதமான அந்த விருத்தாந்தத்தைக்
கற்பனை செய்ய முயன்றான் மன்னன்!

நள்ளிரவில் கண்டான் உறக்கத்தில்,
நல்லதொரு கனவு குலசேகர மன்னன்;
சித்தர் ஒருவர் அவன் கனவில் வந்து,
இத்தகையதோர் ஆணை விதித்தார்!

“திருத்தி அமைப்பாய் கடம்பவனத்தை!
திருநகர் ஒன்றினைச் சமைத்திடுவாய்!”
உறக்கம் கலைந்தது! கனவு முடிந்தது!
அரசவை கூடியது! பொழுது புலர்ந்ததும்.

மதி மந்திரிகள் தன்னைப் புடைசூழ,
விதிக்கு அஞ்சாத ஞானியர்களுடன்,
மேற்கு நோக்கிச் சென்ற அம்மன்னன்
அற்புத இந்திர விமானத்தைக் கண்டான்.

பொற்றாமரைப் பொய்கையில் நீராடி,
பொன்னர் மேனியன் லிங்க ரூபத்தைக்
கண்ணால் கண்டவன் பக்தி மேலிட்டால்,
மண்ணில் அங்கேயே தங்கி விட்டான்!

“அடுத்துச் செய்ய வேண்டியது என்ன?
எடுத்த காரியத்தை முடிப்பதெப்படி?
இறைவன் கருணையுடன் முன்வந்து
சரியான வழி காட்டிட வேண்டும்!”
