#41c. Aditi Devi

Aditi Devi, the mother of all Deva, was pained to see their sufferings. She begged her husband sage Kashyap to give her a strong son – who could deliver the Deva from their sufferings.

Kashyap told her “Only Vinayaka can deliver the Deva from their sufferings. If you do severe penance, he will appear as your son and save your other sons”

Aditi want to the forest and did severe penance for one hundred years. Vinayaka appeared to her. Aditi Devi told him,

“The Deva are suffering in the hands of a mere human being. I was told by my husband that only you can destroy the wicked Devaantaka and free my sons from his prison. You must be born as my son”. Vinayaka gave her that boon.

The Deva who were in hiding came to Brahma and asked him, “When will our sufferings come to an end?” Brahma told them, “Only Vinayaka can help us. Let us all pray for his grace.”

An asareeri was heard. It said, “I will take birth and put an end to all your sufferings. ” the Deva felt happy with this promise.

Vinayaka appeared to Aditi Devi in his brilliant form. She was blinded by his brilliance and begged him to appear as a small human child. Vinayaka transformed himself in to a small baby. Aditi embraced and kissed the divine child.

The flowers bloomed and their fragrance spread in the world. Cool breeze embraced gently, everyone on its path. The whole world suddenly became a better and a happier place. The rushis paid a visit to see the divine child born to Aditi and Kashyap.

#41d. அசுர மாது

தொடர்ந்தன துர்சகுனங்கள் பல காலம்;
தொடக்கத்தில் அலட்சியம் செய்தாலும்

ஜோதிடர்களை வரவழைத்தான் பிறகு;
"ஆதிகாரணன் அவதரித்துள்ளான் உலகில்.

அழிவு காலம் நெருங்கிவிட்டது என்பதைத்
தெளிவு படுத்துகின்றன இத்துர்சகுனங்கள்!"

அசுரப் பெண்ணைப் பணித்தான் நராந்தகன்;
"ஆசிரமம் சென்று அழித்துவிடு குழந்தையை"

வடிவெடுத்தாள் அந்தணப் பெண்ணாக அரக்கி;
குடிலுக்கு விரைந்து சென்றாள் மகோற்கடரிடம்;

நீராடச் சென்றிருந்தார் காசியப முனிவர்;
நிறைவான பூஜையில் இருந்தாள் அதிதி.

நுழைந்தாள் குடிலில் பழகியவள் போல;
விழுங்கினாள் குழந்தையை வாயிலிட்டு.

உதரத்தை அடைந்தவுடன் மகோற்கடர்
உக்கிரமாக வீசினார் விழிகளால் அனலை.

வெப்பம் தாங்காமல் தவித்தாள் அரக்கி.
வெள்ளத்தை அள்ளிக் குடித்தாள் அரக்கி.

ஆறு கிணறு குளங்கள் வற்றிவிட்டன
ஆறவில்லை அரக்கியின் உடல் வெப்பம்,.

எழும்பினாள் மேலே ஆகாயகங்கைக்கு
அழுத்தினார் கீழே கால் கட்டைவிரலால்

நிலை தடுமாறி மலை விழுந்தது போல,
நிலத்தில் விழுந்து மாண்டாள் அரக்கி,

கட்டைவிரலால் வயிற்றைக் கிழித்துச்
சட்டை செய்யாமல் வந்தார் வெளியே.

சப்தம் கேட்டு ஓடிவந்தவர்கள் நடுங்கி
சப்த நாடிகளும் ஒடுங்கிப் போயினர்.

மலை போன்ற மாபெரும் அரக்கியின்
மார்பின் மீது விளையாடும் குழந்தையை!

திருஷ்டி கழித்துப் பிரார்த்தனை செய்யவும்,
திருப்தி அடைந்தார் மகோற்கடர் இவற்றால்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#41d. The Raakshasi

Bad omens started appearing frequently. Initially Naraantakan ignored them. But after some time he consulted the astrologers. They said, "Vinayaka has been born in the world. That signifies the approaching destruction of the asura clan!"

Naraantakan got worried and sent a raakshasi with the orders to kill the baby born in sage Kashyap's ashram. She changed into a beautiful Brahmin lady and went to the ashram of Kashyap. The sage had gone out to the river and Aditi Devi was in the pooja.

The raakshasi walked straight into the hut, took the baby Mahorkadar and swallowed him whole. As soon as Mahorkadar reached her stomach, he opened his third eye and started scorching her inside.

The raakshasi could not bear the intense heat and drank the water from all the wells, ponds and rivers but the heat did not subside. She leaped in the sky to drink the Aakaasa Ganga.

The baby in the stomach pushed her down with his big toe. The Raakshasi lost her balance and fell down headlong from that height. She died due to the fall.

Mahorkadar tore open her stomach with his big toe and walked outside her stomach - as if nothing had happened. People came running on hearing the crashing sound.

They were frightened to see a huge raakshasi on the ground and at the same time they were relieved to see baby Mahorkadar safely playing on the raakshasi.

The removed the evil eyes and prayed for the welfare of the child. Mahorkadar was immensely pleased by these.

#41e. கந்தர்வன்

அரக்கி இறந்த செய்தியைக் கேட்டு
ஆச்சரியம் அடைந்தான் நராந்தகன்.

துந்துபியும், உதத்தனும் இருகிளிகளாக மாறி
வந்தனர் காசியப முனிவரின் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு .

கொத்தித் தின்றனர் இறைந்த தான்யங்களை.
தத்தும் கிளிகள் வேண்டும் என்றான் குழந்தை.

"சிறகுள்ள பறவைகளைப் பிடிப்பது கடினம்;
பறந்து சென்றுவிடும் நாம் நெருங்கியதும்"

மாடியிலிருந்து இறங்கினார் மகோற்கடர்;
நொடியில் நெருங்கி விட்டார் கிளிகளை;

தகித்தது அவர் விடுத்த சுவாசக் காற்று
தவித்தனர் கிளியுருவில் வந்த அசுரர்கள்

பறந்து தப்பிச் செல்ல முயன்றனர் ஆனால்
பருந்தாக மாறிக் கொன்றுவிட்டார் கிளிகளை.

புண்ணிய நீராடச் சென்றனர் சோமவதி.
கண்ணனைக் அமர்த்தினாள் கரையில்.

நீராடும் அதிதியைக் கண்டதும் மகன்
நீரில் இறங்கிவிட்டான் கரையிலிருந்து.

முதலை கவ்விச் சென்றது குழந்தையை.
முதலை தாக்கியது வாலால் மற்றவரை.

முதலையின் வாயிலிருந்து வெளிப்பட்டு
முதலை முதுகில் அமர்ந்தான் குழந்தை.

கீழே தள்ளி விட முயன்ற முதலையைக்
கீழ்ப்படியச் செய்து சுற்றினார் தடாகத்தை.

களைத்த முதலை வாயில் நுரை தள்ளியது
வெளியில் வந்து மல்லாந்தபடி மாண்டது.

கந்தர்வன் வெளிப்பட்டான் அதிலிருந்து
வந்து வணங்கினான் மகோற்கடரை.

#41e. Gandharvan

Naraantakan was surprised to hear that the baby had killed the raakshasi. He sent two more asuras named Dundubi and Udathan. They became lovely parrots and flew to the ashram of Kashyap. They ate the grains found on the ground.

Mahorkadar was seated on Aditi's lap. He wanted her to catch the birds for him. Aditi told him, "The parrots will fly away when we approach them. It is very difficult to catch them"

But Mahorkadar got down from her lap and went near the parrots. His breath was so hot that the two parrots could not bear it. They tried to fly away to safety but Mahorkadar changed into a kite and tore the parrots to pieces.

It was an auspicious day and people went to bath in Somavati. Aditi made Mahorkadar sit on the bank of Somavati and entered the water.

When he saw Aditi in the water, Mahorkadar also entered the water. A giant crocodile caught hold of him. The other people there tired to save the child but the crocodile lashed its tail and attacked them violently.

Meanwhile Mahorkadar managed to come out of the mouth of the crocodile and sit on it back. The crocodile tried its best to shake him off but in vain.

Mahorkadar made the crocodile obey him made it cover the pond several times very fast. The crocodile became so tired that it got on to the land and dropped dead.

A Gandarvan emerged from the crocodile and paid obeisance to Mahorkadar.

#41f. சித்திரன்

"பூர்வ ஜன்மத்தில் நான் கந்தர்வன் சித்திரன்.
ஆர்வத்துடன் செய்தேன் மகள் திருமணத்தை!

உபசரிக்க மறந்துவிட்டேன் பிருகு முனிவரை.
சபித்து விட்டார் உடனே முதலையாகும்படி!

சாபவிமோசனம் தரும்படி மன்றாடினேன்,
"சாபம் நீங்கும் கணேசனின் ஸ்பரிசத்தால்.

அவதரிப்பார் அதிதி காசியபர்களிடம்;
அழிப்பார் கொடிய அசுரர் கூட்டத்தை!"

காத்திருந்தேன் தங்களைச் சந்திப்பதற்கு
காத்திருந்தேன் தங்கள் ஸ்பரிசத்துக்கு."

மண்ணில் வந்து இறங்கியது விமானம்
விண்ணில் சென்றான் விமானம் ஏறி!

விஜயம் செய்தனர் மூன்று கந்தர்வர்,
விருந்து அருந்திச் செல்ல இருந்தனர்.

பூஜையில் அமர்ந்தனர் நீராடியபின்
பூஜைக்குப்பின் ஆழ்ந்த தியானத்தில்.

மறைத்தார் மகோற்கடர் விக்ரகங்களை
பதைபதைத்தனர் கந்தர்வர்கள் உள்ளம்

முறையிட்டனர் காசியபரிடம் சென்று.
சிறுவர்கள் எவருமே எடுக்கவில்லை!

மகோற்கடரைத் தேடிக் கண்டு பிடித்து
"மறைந்த விக்ரகங்கள் எங்கே?" என

"ஒளித்து வைத்துள்ளேன் என்று கூறி
ஒளித்து வைத்த வாயைத் திறந்தார்

தெரிந்தது வாயில் சிருஷ்டி முழுவதும்
தெரிந்தனர் வாயில் மும்மூர்த்திகள்.

தெரித்தன வாயில் வைகுண்ட கைலாசம்
தெரிந்தன வாயில் பூலோகம், பாதாளம்.

வலம் வந்து வணங்கினர் மகோற்கடரை
வரம் தந்து விக்ரகங்களையும் தந்தார்.

#41f. Chitran

"In my previous birth, I was a gandarvan named Chitran. I performed my daughter's wedding with great pomp and show. I forgot to honor Sage Brugu properly. He got very angry and cursed me to become a crocodile.

I begged for saapa nivaaraNam. Brugu told me,"You will get back your original form when Lord Ganesha touches you. He will be born as the son of Aditi and Kashyapa to put an end to the asuras"

I was waiting for your arrival. I was waiting for your divine touch. Thank you for giving me my original form and breaking the curse." He paid obeisance to Mahorkadar and got into a gold vimaanam which took him to his land.

Once three gandharvas visited Kashyapa. They would eat food with the sage and then leave for their abode. They took bath and did their usual pooja. Then they were immersed in meditation. When they had finished their dhyaanam, they were shocked to find all their vigrahaas missing. They ran to Sage Kashyapa and complained to him.

Kashyapa asked all the children in the Ashram and none of them had hidden the vigraham. He then caught hold of Mahorkadar and asked him whether he had hid the vigrahaas.

He nodded his head and opened his mouth to show the vigrahaas hidden there but Kashyapa and the Gandarva saw entire creation in his mouth.

They saw the trimoorthis. They saw the Kailash and Vaikuntam. They saw the earth and the paataalam. They knew it was the god supreme appearing to them as a small child. They paid obeisance to Mahorkadar. He blessed them with several boons and returned them their vigrahaas.

#41g. உபநயனம்

அகவை ஐந்து ஆனது மகோற்கடருக்கு.
உவகையுடன் செய்வித்தார் உபநயனம்.

குதூகலமாக இருந்தனர் அதிதிகள்;
கோலாகலமாக நடந்தது உபநயனம்.

வந்தனர் அசுரர்கள் அந்தணர்களாக;
வந்திருந்த முனிவருடன் கலந்தனர்.

அக்ஷதை இட்டு ஆசீர்வதித்தனர் - அதில்
அஸ்திரப் பிரயோகம் செய்த அசுரர்கள்.

ஆயுதங்களாக மாறின அக்ஷதைகள்;
பாய்ந்து வந்தன மகோற்கடரை நோக்கி!

அருகில் வந்ததும் மாறின மலர்களாக
திருவடிகளில் வந்து விழுந்து வணங்கின.

ஐந்து அரிசிகளை எறிந்தார் மகோற்கடர்
ஐந்து ஆயுதங்களாக மாறின அரிசிகள்.

ஐந்து அசுரர்களைத் தாக்கின அவைகள்
ஐவரும் மாண்டனர் மார்பு பிளந்ததால்.

திருஷ்டி கழித்தனர் மகோற்கடருக்கு
தோஷம் நீக்கினர் மகோற்கடருக்கு.

வந்திருந்த தேவர்கள் தந்தனர் பலவித
விந்தையான அஸ்திர, சஸ்திரங்கள்

சூலம், பினாகம், உடுக்கை, மழு,
சடை, பிறைமதி கொடுத்தார் சிவன்.

பாலச்சந்திரன், விரூபாக்ஷன் மற்றும்
பரசுபாணி என்ற பெயர்கள் இட்டார் .

தந்தார் விஷ்ணு தன் சக்கராயுதத்தை,
தந்தார் பிரமன் தாமரை, கமண்டலம்.

தந்தாள் உமையாள் சிங்க வாஹனம்;
தந்தான் வருணன் பாசத்தைப் பாசமாக.

தந்தான் முத்து மாலையைக் கடல் அரசன்
தந்தான் மாலாதரன் என்ற பெயரினையும்.

படுக்கையானான் ஆதிசேஷன் இவருக்கு
பணி ராஜ வாசன் என்ற பெயர் வந்தது

தந்தான் தண்டம் தர்மராஜன் - அக்கினி
தந்தான் அனைத்தையும் எரிக்கும் சக்தியை

தந்தான் வாயு தன் பராக்கிரமத்தை - அங்கு
தந்தனர் அனைவரும் தத்தம் சிறப்புகளை.

#41g. Upanayanam

Now Mahorkadar was five years old. Sage Kashyapa performed his Upanayanam in a very grand manner. The crowd of guests were joyous and the ceremony colorful.

Five asuras came there changed into five Brahmins. They mingled well with the other Brahmins. When they blessed the child by throwing the turmeric rice, the five asuras did asthra prayogam on the rice.

The rice changed into deadly weapons and rushed towards the child. But on approaching him they changed into flowers and fell at his feet.

Now Mahorkadar took five rice and threw it at the asura. The rice changed into deadly weapons and tore their chests making them drop dead. The evil eye cast on the child was removed and the dosham rectified immediately.

All the Deva present there gave the child rare gifts. Lord Siva gave his soolam, pinaakam, damroo, mazhu, jada and the crescent moon. The child got the new names as Baalachandran, Viroopaakshan and Parasu paaNi.

Vishnu gave him his Sudarshan and Brahma his louts and kamandalam. Parvati Devi gave him her simha vaahanam. Varuna gave him his paasam, the king of the ocean a pearl string and the new name as Maalaa dharan.

Aadhi seshan became his bed and gave him the name paNiraaja vaasan. Dharama raajan gave the child his dandam, Agni his power to burn and Vaayu his strength.

The Deva gave the child the best in them as gifts.

#41h. இந்திரன் மமதை

தேவர்கள் தந்தனர் மகோற்கடருக்குத்
தெய்வீக சக்திகளை மிகுந்த அன்புடன்.

மமதை கொண்ட இந்திரன் மட்டும்
மனது உவந்து அளிக்கவில்லை பரிசு!

முனிவரும், தேவரும் சிறுவனுடன் நிற்கத்
தனித்து விலகி நின்றான் இந்திரன் மட்டும்.

காசியபர் கூறினார் மகன் இந்திரனிடம்,
"ஆசி பெறுவாய் மகோற்கடரிடம் நீயும்!

சின்னஞ் சிறு குழந்தை தானே இவன்;
என் இளவல் தானே என்று எண்ணாதே.

ஆதிப் பரம்பொருளே அன்புடன் இங்கு
கோதில்லாத குமாரனாக வந்துள்ளான்! "

"சிறுவனை நான் வணங்குவதா? நடவாது!
சிறுவன் பெறட்டும் என்னிடம் ஆசிகள்!"

சினந்தான் இந்திரன், பணித்தான் வாயுவை,
"கனத்த காற்றாகி உருட்டிவிடு சிறுவனை"

வாயு அறிவான் சிறுவன் பெருமையை;
வாயு உணர்த்துவான் இந்திரனுக்கு அதை.

சூறாவளிக் காற்றாகி வீசலானான் வாயு!
மாறாமல் நின்றவர் மகோற்கடர் ஒருவரே!

நிலை தடுமாறியது உலகம் முழுவதும்!
நிலை தடுமாறின உயிர்த் தொகை எல்லாம்!

அப்போதும் பணியவில்லை இந்திரன்;
இப்போது பணித்தான் அக்கினியையும்,

"காற்றுடன் சேர்த்து பரப்பு வெப்பத்தை;
ஏற்றத்தை உணரட்டும் அந்தச் சிறுவன்!"

காற்றுடன் சேர்ந்து வீசியது வெப்பமும்;
மாற்ற விரும்பினார் மகோற்கடர் அதனை.

#41h. Indra's pride

All the Deva presented the child Mahorkadar with some rare gift or special power except Indra. All the rushis and Deva stood surrounding the child while Indra stood aloof from the group.

Kashyap told his son Indra," You too take the blessings of Mahorkadar. Do not think he is just your younger brother. He is the god supreme who is born as your little brother."

"I will never prostrate to the little boy. If he wants, let him come and get my blessings!" Indra was adamant.

Indra became angry and wanted to prove his supremacy over the little child. He ordered Vaayu, "Blow fiercely and make that boy roll down on earth"

Vaayu knew the greatness of the child and he wanted to prove it to Indra. He blew fiercely like a terrible storm. The whole world lost its balance. All the living things lost their balance but Little Mahorkadar stood undisturbed by the fierce wind.

Now Indra became even more angry. He ordered Agni, "Join hands with Vaayu and spread your heat everywhere. The hot air blowing was too terrible to bear. Mahorkadar decided to change it.

#41i . விஸ்வரூபம்

புன்னகை செய்தார் அக்கினியைக் கண்டு.
மண்ணில் விழுந்தான் பலமிழந்த அக்கினி!

விண்ணவர் கோனுக்கு உண்மை உணர்த்த
விண்ணுக்கும் மண்ணுக்குமாக வளர்ந்தார்!

முடி தாண்டிச் சென்றது தேவ லோகத்தை!
அடி தாண்டிச் சென்றது பாதாள லோகத்தை!

ஆயிரம் ஆயிரம் முகங்கள், கரங்களுடன்,
ஆகாயத்துக்கும் பூமிக்கும் பரவிய உருவம்.

அண்டங்கள் தொங்கின மயிர்க் கால்களில்;
அண்டம் ஒன்றில் நுழைந்தான் இந்திரன்.

கண்டான் ஈரேழு உலகங்களையும் அங்கு.
கண்டான் முப்பத்து முக்கோடி தேவர்களை.

கண்டான் மும்மூர்த்திகளைத் தேவியருடன்;
கண்டான் மும்மூர்த்திகளின் இருப்பிடங்கள்.

கண்டான் இந்திர லோகத்தையும் அங்கே;
கண்டான் இந்திரனாகத் தன்னையே அங்கு.

மமதை மறைந்தது; அறிவு தெளிந்தது;
மறந்துவிட்டான் வெளி வரும் வழியை.

கண்களை மூடிப் பிரார்த்தித்தான் நன்கு,
"என் பிழை பொறுத்து அருள்வீர்" என்று.

அன்புடன் அவனை வெளிப் படுத்திவிட்டு
சின்னஞ் சிறு பாலகன் ஆனார் மீண்டும்.

பாதங்களில் விழுந்து பணிந்தான் - தன்
பரிசுகளாக அளித்தான் இந்திரன் - தன்

வஜ்ஜிராயுதம், அங்குசம், கற்பகத் தரு.
லஜ்ஜையுடன் விடை பெற்றான் இந்திரன்.

பணிவிடை செய்யத் தந்தான் தேவமாதரை.
பணிவுடன் தந்தவற்றை ஏற்றார் இறைவன்.

#41i. Viswaroopam

Mahorkadar smiled at Agni, who dropped down on the ground immediately - having lost all his powers! Mahorkadar wanted to prove the truth to Indra. He assumed his Viswaroopam immediately.

His crown had crossed the Devalokam and his feet the Paataala lokam. He had thousands of faces and thousands of hands. He stood scaling the heaven and the earth.

The universes hung from his body hairs. Indra entered on of those universes. He saw the fourteen worlds there. He saw all the Deva there. He saw the Trimoorthis there with their consorts. He their heavenly abodes there. He saw the Indralokam there. He saw himself as the Indra there.

Indra realized the truth that this child was none other than the god supreme. Meanwhile he had forgotten the way to come out of there. He closed his eyes and prayed,"Please pardon my ignorance and pride."

Mahorkadar bought him out of his body lovingly and again stood like the small five year old boy in front of him. Indra fell at his feet. He presented the child with his Vajraayudam, ankusham and the Karpaga Vruksham.

He also gave some celestial maiden to serve him. He took leave of the little boy - fully realizing his greatness.

Mahorkadar graciously accepted Indra's apology and the rich gifts given by him with complete humility.

#42a. காசி ராஜன்

காசிராஜன் நிச்சயித்தான் மகன் திருமணத்தை;
காசியபரை அழைத்தான் மணம் நடத்திவைக்க.

காசியபர் தொடங்கி விட்டார் சதுர்மாஸ்ய விரதம்;
காசியபர் அனுப்பினார் மகோற்கடரை அவனுடன்.

தூமட்சன் ஆவான் நராந்தகனின் சிறிய தகப்பன்;
தூமாட்சன் தவம் செய்தான் சூரியனைக் குறித்து.

ஆயுதம் அனுப்பினான் சூரியன் அசுரனுக்கு.
ஆயுதத்தைக் கைப் பற்றினார் மகோற்கடர்.

மேலும் வலுப்பெற்றது ஆயுதம் அவரிடம்;
தலையை அறுத்தார் கைவந்த ஆயுதத்தால்.

காசிராஜன் அஞ்சினார் நராந்தகன் பகையை;
காசிராஜன் அஞ்சினார் தூமாட்சன் மக்களை.

விரைந்தனர் தூமாட்சனின் இரு குமாரர்கள்
மறைந்திருந்து கொன்றவனை பழி தீர்ப்பதற்கு..

"சிறுவனே! எதற்குக் கொன்றாய் தந்தையை?
அறுத்துத் தள்ளுவோம் உன் தலையை நாங்கள்!

தவம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவரைக் கொல்ல
இவன் ஏவினானா?"காசி ராஜனைக் காட்டினர்.

கைகட்டி வாய் பொத்தி வணங்கி அவர்களிடம்
மெய் நடுங்கச் மெல்லச் சொன்னான் காசிராஜன்

"ஒன்றும் செய்துவிடாதீர்கள் என்னை! நான்
சென்றேன் குலகுருவைக் காசிக்கு அழைக்க.

விரதம் தொடங்கிவிட்டதால் வர இயலாமல்
சிறுவன் இவனை அனுப்பினார் என்னுடன்.

விளையாட்டுப் பிள்ளை அறியாமல் செய்தது;
இளங்கன்று பயம் அறியாது" என்றான் அவன்.

#42a. Kaasi Raajan

Kaasi Raajan wanted to perform his son's wedding. He went to invite his kulaguru Kashyapa to perform the wedding ceremonies. But Kashyapa had already started his chaturmaasya vratham and could not move about for the next four months. So he sent Mahorkadar with the king to perform the wedding ceremonies.

Doomaakshan was the paternal uncle of Naraantakan. He did penance towards Sun God to get an asthram from him. The Sun God sent it to him but Mahorkadar intercepted and took possession of that aayudam.

it became even more powerful in Mahorkadar's hands. Then the same weapon was used by Mahorkadar to cut off the head of Doomaakshan. Kaasi Raajan was afraid of the consequences. He was afraid of the sons of Doomaakshan too.

On hearing about the death of Doomaakshan, his two sons hurried to take revenge on the killer. They demanded Mahorkadar, "Why did you kill him who was doing penance? Did this king tell you do kill him?"

Now Kaasi Raajan got very frightened and spoke to them with great fear, "Please do not do any harm to me. I went to meet my kulaguru and he sent his son with me in his place. This boy is only small child and very irresponsible in his behavior. Please do not punish us"

#42b. மகோற்கடர்

மஹோற்கடருக்குக் கோபம் பிறந்தது
"ஓஹோ இவ்வளவு தானா பிரதாபம்?

தந்தையின் அனுமதியோடு வந்தேன்;
வந்த இடத்தில் வந்துள்ளது சங்கடம்.

உம்மை மட்டும் காத்துக் கொண்டால்
உம் மீது பாயும் எந்தையின் கோபம்."

இனி இருதலைக் கொள்ளி ஏறும்புதான்!
முனிவரின் சாபமா? அசுரரின் கோபமா?

பயம் என்பதையே அறியாதவனிடம்
நயமாகப் பேசுவதால் என்ன பயன்?

நெருங்கினர் அசுரர்கள் மகோற்கடரை;
பெருமூச்சு விட்டான் சிறுவன் அப்போது.

மூச்சுக் காற்று கொன்றது அவர்களை!
மூச்சுக் காற்றில் பறந்தன சடலங்கள்!

விழுந்தன நராந்தகன் அரண்மனையில்
எழுந்தது சினம் எரிமலையென அவனுக்கு.

"உடனே சென்று இழுத்து வாருங்கள் !" என
படை வீரர்கள் விரைந்தனர் காசிராஜனிடம்.

வீரர்கள் சூழ்ந்தனர் காசிராஜன் ரதத்தை;
வீரர்கள் மாய்ந்த்னர் தரையில் விழுந்து,

மகோற்கடர் தொண்டையைக் கனைத்த
மகோன்னதப் பேரொலிக்குப் பலியாகி.

"வரங்கள் பெற்று என்னிடமே இப்படியா?"
நராந்தகன் அனுப்பினான் மேலும் வீரரை.

மாயப் போர்முறையில் வல்ல அவர்கள்
தூய இறைவனை எதிர்ப்பதற்கு வந்தனர்.

#42b. Mahorkadar

Mahorkadar became upset with the king's behavior. He sneered at the king, "You begged for my father's permission to bring me with you to Kasi. Now we in trouble and all you can think of is saving yourself. Are you not aware of the wrath of rushis and sages?"

Now Kaasi Raajan was between the devil and the deep sea. The sage's wrath was on one side and the anger of the asuras on the other. The little boy knew no fear and there was no point in arguing with him.

The sons of Dhoomaakshan came near Mahorkadar and he exhaled a very deep breath. The wind was so fierce that the asuras were out of breath dropped dead. The wind of the breath carried their dead bodies and dropped them in the palace of Naraantakan.

Naraantakan got terribly angry at the sight of the dead bodies of his cousins. He sent out his soldiers to arrest the people who caused this atrocity.

The asura soldiers surrounded the chariot of Kaasi Raajan. Mahorkadar cleared his throat. A loud noise was produced and the soldiers dropped dead unable to bear the intensity of that terrible sound.

Naraantakan became more angry that he was not feared in spite of the boons he had got. He sent out more soldiers who were good in the Maya warfare to deal with Mahorkadar and Kaasi Raajan.

#42c. தருமதத்தர்

நகரை நெருங்கி விட்டனர் தம் ரதத்தில்;
நகரில் கரை புரண்டது அதிக உற்சாகம்.

வேஷமிட்டு வந்தனர் இரு கொடிய அசுரர்கள்;
கோஷமிட்டு வந்தனர் புரோஹிதர்கள் போல்.

கண்டதும் கண்டு கொண்டார் மகோற்கடர்;
கண்டும் காணாதது போலச் சென்று விட்டார்.

ஆலிங்கனம் செய்து கொல்ல வந்தவர்களை
ஆலிங்கனம் செய்து கொன்றுவிட்டார் அவர்.

புயல் காற்றாக மாறிவந்தான் ஓர் அசுரன்;
புயலில் சிக்கித் தத்தளித்தது காசி மாநகரம்

அரைநாணாகிய ஆதிசேஷனை அவிழ்த்துவிட
அடங்கியது புயல் ஆயிரம் வாய்களில் புகுந்து.

பலம் இழந்து நின்றுவிட்ட பரிதாப அசுரர்கள்
பம்பரம் ஆகி மாண்டனர் மகோற்கடரிடம்.

பாறையாக மாறி நின்றான் அசுரன் ஒருவன்
பாறை வழி மறித்தது செல்கின்ற ரதத்தை.

"விக்னங்கள் தீரும் விநாயகரை நினைத்தால்;
விக்ன விநாயகருக்குச் சூறைத் தேங்காய்" என

வந்து சேர்ந்தன ஆயிரத்தெட்டு தேங்காய்கள்;
வந்த மக்களிடம் சொன்னார் மகோற்கடர்;

"சூறை போடுங்கள் ஆளுக்கு ஒன்று !" என்று.
சூறை எறிந்தனர் அந்தப் பாறையின் மீதே!

நொறுங்கின தேங்காய்கள் தலையில் மோதி.
பொறுக்க முடியாதபோது எழுந்தான் அசுரன்.

பாய்ந்தான் சுயவுருவெடுத்து இறைவன் மீது;
பாய்ந்த பரசுவினால் மாய்ந்தான் அவனும்.

தந்தனர் உபசாரங்கள் அரண்மனையில்,
வந்தார் புரோஹிதர் தருமதத்தர் விரைந்து!

#42c. Dharmaduttar

Their chariot had neared the city of Kaasi and there was great rejoice in the city since the king had returned after visiting his kulaguru Sage Kashyap.

A group of pundits and priests welcomed the king with poorna kumbham. In that group two auras had mingled after getting transformed into prohits. Mahorkadar knew the truth at the very first sight but did not react to it.

The asura turned into prohits had planned to kill Mahorkadar by embracing him tightly and squeezing him to his death. But Mahorkadar embraced them and squeezed them to death in stead.

Another asuran came transformed as a terrible stormy wind. The whole city suffered due to this storm. Mahorkadar untied the serpent Aadiseshan from his waist.

It stood with its thousand mouths wide open. The stormy wind was weakened as it entered those many mouths. The asura who had become weak was killed by Mahorkadar.

Another asuran transformed into a rock and blocked the path of the chariot. Mahorkadar said, " We will pray to Vigna Vinayaka to remove all the obstacles" Immediately one thousand and eight coconuts were brought to Mahorkadar.

He told the people who had gathered there, "Each one here please break one of these coconuts for Vinayaka. They threw those coconuts on that rock to shatter them in order to please Vinayaka.

When he could take no more of the bashing with coconuts, the asura got up from there. He assumed his real form and pounced on Mahorkadar. Th unfailing parasu was released by the boy promptly and killed the asuran.

The Kaasi Raajan and Mahorkadar reached the palace of the king. Dharmaduttar the prohit of the Kasi Raajan arrived there in a great haste.
